Tres Ecstuffuan Wrote:
Hal felt the familiar sensation of his hindclaws encountering and summarily tearing through flesh. He would continue to rake Tres with his claws, over and over, until this particular situation was put to a stop... which was rather quickly. Hal was forced to release his right hand from Tres' left arm when the crystalline structure abruptly grew spikes, one of which impaled Hal through the palm. His eyes narrowed in pain as he quickly withdrew that hand. Hal's swipe had missed as his opponent drew back, removing that hand from his face but only after squeezing and tearing. Hal's exoskeleton prevented any tearing from being more than superficial, but the clawed fingers still tore a large patch of skin from the top of his snout. At least his head was free, but he now found himself being quickly thrown through the air.
This was usually a good thing. Given sufficient space, Hal would have been able to catch himself in the air before hitting the ground or some object. There wasn't sufficient space in this classroom. Still, he tried. He used his levitation to slow himself, and he spread out his arms and legs and wing to create more friction. While he did slow himself, there wasn't enough space to slow himself enough and he collided rather forcefully into the smartboard, shattering it before sliding to the ground. The damage to Hal himself had been mitigated, once more due to his exoskeleton but also because he had landed on his back and so his remaining wing had absorbed much of the impact. He had felt a mild jolt through his body but nothing serious. He landed on his feet and got up on two legs. Magenta blood streamed from the torn flesh on his face and dripped from his chin, as well as from the stab wound in his right hand. The pain was aggravating, but he wouldn't turn it off right now because he didn't want to lose the use of that hand. He saw that Tres was already approaching. Hal only now got a look at the damage he had caused with his back claws. Where he expected to see normal human blood, he instead saw a silvery substance. Hal couldn't know that this wasn't something in the suit that he had torn open, but if it was, indeed, some sort of blood as it appeared to be, then his opponent may not have been a human after all. Hal came to two realizations. The first was that he was glad that none of his bite attacks had been successful, as he couldn't know if that silvery stuff would hurt him to ingest. The second realization was that he should try to get a sample of that stuff. That was most of what he normally did, gathering information and knowledge. Even if he lost this fight, as was seeming likely (now, fights were never over until they were over, and anything could happen between now and then, but he wasn't blind to how much more damage he had taken than his opponent), he might still be able to come out with something that would please his superiors. Some of the silvery substance had gotten on Hal's claws, but it wouldn't be there for long, as the metal was slick with the intention that blood and other materials wouldn't stick. But he might still be able to gather it, though getting it from the source would be preferable.
Anyway, thoughts moved quickly and especially in battle, so that realization took but a split second. Hal tensed his hind legs and sprang up toward the ceiling. This took him seven feet up quickly, but his levitation carried him the rest of the way, aided by the momentum from the jump. He reached the projector hanging from the ceiling and grabbed it in his hands, though using his right hand rather gingerly. With a twist, he severed it from the ceiling with his wing and continued the twist to rip the projector off and throw it at Tres, hoping for another distraction. Hal would then kick off of the roof and send himself rapidly down toward one of the cabinets nearby, landing right in front of it. He was aware that he had probably two seconds to complete his search, and that was assuming that he hadn't been attacked at any point up to now. He tore one of the cabinet doors off the hinges in his urgency to get it open. He was half-turned toward Tres, keeping one eye on his opponent and prepared to react.
Status: Missing his right wing. Achy head. Throbbing jaw. Bruised pelvic area. Torn snout. Stab wound in right palm. Still stubbornly holding a pencil in his tail even after all this time.
