Isles of the Purple Sea

One of Gaia's vibrant seas full of colorful fish of different varieties and odd peculiarities. It contains tiny islands no larger than the standard urban city block. Inhabiting these islands is a fish-hunting bird that that tend to lay rock-hard eggs everywhere. Beware of cracking them.

Terrain

General: Both fighters can start on one of three islands with waist high water in between them (2 and a half feet). Notice that these islands form a line and the span of water between them is only 40 feet. The northern island is almost a perfect circle with three palm trees in the middle and is 30 feet in radius. This island is mostly sandy and flat. The middle island is the smallest island and is rectangular, 10 feet wide and 25 feet long with little grass in the middle. This island is mostly grassy. The southern island is the largest island, the radius is 60 feet, but rises out of the water like a dome with a 30 degree slope nearest the water. The top is perfectly flat for about 5 feet in radius. This island is mostly rocky.

Weapons: The island birds left a lot of their rock-hard eggs around. Beware, if you manage to crack them, the contents is putrid and will make you want to hurl. There's also shells, random coral rocks, coconuts on the Northern island.

Bonus Features: Swimming any farther than 40 feet from an island starts the count out. The island birds flew off as soon as fighters appear.

The bright sun was high overhead, the wind was softly drifting over the tiny chain of islands making the leaves of the three trees rustle in harmony with the sigh of the lapping waves as the sea ate at the edges of the islands.

This stage was beautiful... the shimmering heatwaves making it all look like some kind of magical mirage.

Or it could have been the busty woman in her little gold bikini top, with the matching string bottom under a sheer white pool wrap skirt, fanning herself with an oversized silvery metal bladed fan, a large floppy white sun hat and wrap around black sunglasses hiding most of her face and all but a few strands of her short red hair....she was all curves and sex appeal, and if you could ignore the weapons you might be tricked into thinking she was soft.

What did not fit the mirage were the pair of knives attached to wrist sheathes on both her arms, or the belt with its attached thigh holster with another two sheathed knives at her thigh and the remaining two on her right hip, with the short bladed Chissa Katana at the back of her waist, she could have been the pin-up in one of those hunting or war magazines....

Raven was happily soaking up the heat on the Northern most of the three islands, her sandaled feet padding softly across the sand at the water's edge while she waited for her next opponent.

How did he get there? The memory had been wiped from his mind the moment he set eyes on the picture perfect scene. It was a small chain of islands, three in fact, set among rich colored blue water. He was standing waist deep in the water that wasn't an agreeable temperature. Like all oceans it was particularly cold, even if a bit refreshing due to the heat of the day. He was standing with his white cargo pants and brown boots in the water, hem of his white t-shirt soaking water, with his left hand raised in the air. Within the grasp of his curled fingers was his long sword, half way down the black sheath with the hilt and cross guard hovering over his head. Upon it was his grey gauntlet, covering everything from the shoulder down to his finger tips and hand. His right hand was raised up out of the water, avoiding the water for one reason or another. Hazel eyes scanned the third island that was closest too him, one that seemed to be a hill with a flat top.

He walked toward the shore, trudging through the water, until he got closer to the shallow end, left arm falling to his side. When only his boots were left in the water he'd walk the shortest distance around the island until he came to the middle one, smaller than the other two, rectangular in shape with a rocky surface. As he looked around he noticed the hard looking egg like objects, perhaps they were eggs? He wasn't sure. As light confusion set in he raised his right hand to scratch his ear length brown hair. He'd quickly see the woman that was basking in the sun. Her flesh was pretty exposed but she held weapons, visible ones, was she the person that he was suppose to fight? It didn't hurt to ask.

"Heeey!" He'd call over to her, since it was likely she was on a different island than him. "Are we suppose to fight?" He'd finish with.

The shiny fan paused for a moment, the woman turning to look at the man on the other island of the tiny chain... That was.... interesting.

Raven wasn't certain she had even been asked that question before, and for an ancient avatar, that was saying something!

"Um, Yup!?" She moved a bit closer to the centre of her island, smiling invitingly as she concentrated on a spell while waiting for her opponent to get a little closer.

There was something about the woman, something he felt when she acknowledged his presence and started walking toward him. He couldn't explain it but instinct was telling him that this female was much more than a pretty face. He wasn't going to fall for an inviting smile, even if it was genuine, many different kinds of bait were used to catch a variety of prey. His right hand reached around and grabbed the hilt of his sword only to pull it free of its sheath. The left hand, covered in that grey gauntlet, maintained its hold on the sheath. The sword was brought to his right side, held low, in a casual stance. He bounced on the balls of his feet once or twice as he seemed to work himself up into the mindset to fight.

"Alright then. I'm Nathan. Let's not waste time." A quick smile stretched across his lips a moment before he started to move forward.

The left hand flipped the sheath around so that it was held in a similar manner to his sword, using the surface area just below the opening as the hilt. It was raised up slightly, almost as if he was trying to dual wield, to a position that was clearly meant for defense. His right arm bent at the elbow which leveled his sword upon her form, the point clearly facing in her direction. His hand was positioned right on level with his rib cage. He crossed the distance between them cautiously but briskly, jogging at a casual pace while he read her body language. Whatever the distance was between them, if she didn't react in an offensive manner by the time he got within striking distance, once he was within his striking range that sword would fire out in a quick thrust. It was aimed for the general chest area and hit or miss it'd be pulled back, arm quickly bending and angling down to his left, so that he could release a second strike. The second strike was a diagonal slash from his low left to high right.

The diagonal slash would aim to impact just above her right hip bone and slice its path across her body so that it'd pass under her left breast. He knew he couldn't kill, he only wanted to do enough damage to try and incapacitate her. Even the thrust, should it strike true, wouldn't hit any vital organs. The slash from his sword that followed the thrust wouldn't even cut past the muscle. It really sucked pulling punches. But, just to reiterate, this only happened if she didn't do anything offensive in the time it took to get from his position to hers.

"I am Raven..... Hono'o Raven." The smile was actually as empty as the sea breeze, the new fellow had a lot to learn.

For instance, he needed to learn not to think that a big sword was all you needed to win a fight.

And that sometimes inaction was as useful as action... She stopped in place as he drew his sword, turning slightly so that she was in profile to him only, her left hand going up to the floppy hat as the right with the fan drew back and then slashed out towards Nathan.

The gentle sea breeze instantly turned into a near gale force wind, whipping sand, dirt, and sea spray at the man in an effort to knock him back into the water. Elementals didn't need to face an opponent over a drawn blade to cause trouble.

With his sword out, drew back close to his body on level with his ribs, tip aimed at his opponent with the sheath in his left hand he sought to close the distance between them. But it didn't seem like such a thing was going to be possible. He had been watching her closely since, against an experienced fighter, he knew that he'd never be able to get within striking distance without some kind of retaliation. And, much like himself, he knew that the people in this new league that had started weren't normal. It could have been anything that was sent his way. Perhaps it was because, in this one case, she used a fan as a means to direct the attack? Based off of that he figured it was a projectile and, given the nature of a fan to produce air currents, came to the conclusion that it was going to be wind based. When the fan was slashed forward in his direction Nathan made a long dive to his right, hitting the ground on his shoulder as he tucked in and rolled.

The blast would miss him out right since it traveled in a straight line, he'd cover a good five foot of distance with his role which would put him slightly in the water but still on the shore about ankle deep when he finished. The roll itself took about a second and a half to perform. While rolling he dropped his sheath and picked up one of those hard objects on the ground, gripping it tightly in his left hand without knowing it was an actual egg or what its contents were, only to launch it directly at his opponent's center of mass. It didn't break as he threw it since it was hard, it'd be flying at about 50 mph due to his pitch, and if it struck true it'd more than likely cause pain and shatter against her only to reveal the horrible smell. Meanwhile Nathan rushed up to his feet after the egg left his hand, holding his sword up in front of him in a pretty generic manner so that it very slightly crossed in front of his chest with the tip toward the sky.

He'd sprint at a solid 5 mph per hour toward her. Whether she got hit by the egg or dodged it didn't matter, he would be heading toward her position, when he closed the distance he'd quickly slash at her with his sword. From his high left to low right the tip of the sword aimed to slice into her skin, a downward diagonal slash. It'd seek to find purchase somewhere around her right shoulder and cut down diagonally between her breasts and pass out of her body near her left love handle. Since it was just the tip it wouldn't do any severe damage if it hit, she'd bleed and it'd hurt though. Nathan was silent for the most part only making small noises when he rolled, tossed the egg, ran toward her, and then slashed. These noises were an equivalent to a hushed Kiai or a grunt drawn from how he exerted himself.
