Leviathan Sky Ring

The Leviathan Sky Ring has long been infamous in Gaia's fighting circles as the consolation award stage: where people go to fight for third and fourth place, while Heaven or Hell's winners move on to the Stadium proper for the finals match-up. The disc sits high in the sky, hundreds of meters above Leviathan Stadium.

Terrain

General: An enormous, flying disc of inert ceramic material. The disc is flat and smooth, akin to a basketball court's floor in terms of texture and friction. The disc measures 75' across.

Weapons: None.

Bonus Features: Falling off the sky ring is a ring-out. There's a net below the disc to catch fighters. Characters who can fly can theoretically fly under the disc, provided they don't exceed the flying limits of the GCL or go beyond the ring-out ten count.

(Open to spectators.)

He'd fought in all manner of strange and often times gruesome locations in his short and incredibly violent past. You never knew where a man or woman or other might be when you finally caught up with them, or where you would be when they caught up with you. But in all his time as a mercenary and a gun for hire, the Rook had yet to fight in such a unique locale such as this, a flying disc almost as wide as a footy field with nothing marking its smooth but oddly gripping surface.

"This might, be the shittest place I've ever had to fight a man" Rook said, quite conversationally, with his mask up to better allow his voice to travel. He'd taken a massive bite out of the tender flesh of the mango in his hand mid-way through his little entry statement, giving the whole thing a dramatic quality that quickly came crashing down as the big man made his feelings clear. He'd also worked up a bit of a sweat in the heated cockpit of the helicopter that dropped him here, and with the unarmoured side of his forearm he wiped his tanned brow, looking around before taking another thoughtful bite out of his fruity snack.

Standing at over six foot tall with a barrel chest to make most body builders jealous, Rook was an imposing figure to say the least. Couple that with a large tinted riot shield strapped to his left hand and an assortment of weaponry holstered across his body, namely a shotgun, pistol and stun-baton, and he made for something akin to a walking tank. He was also human, to the bone, mixed-race Afro-Caribbean and Caucasian and very out of place among the sort of fighters he was up against. But Rook was a simple man in many respects, he lacked the imagination required to really understand the odds he was up against, and that allowed him to stand there with only a vague sense of excitement as he awaited a foe to fight.

"Come on then, give me something to do yeah? I'm Rook of the Kingdom mercenary company, check us out in Sigil!"

Leon had already been there, hanging by the edge of the flying disk that both he and his opponent stood on. He missed this feeling of the wind between his face the slightly shortened breath of the higher altitude. His ears heard a tingling and the crowd cheer. He lifted himself away from the edge, a smile appearing on his face. If there was one thing he could admire was control of the crowd. Something about the cheering of the fans as they chanted your name, gave Leon a burst of energy he never thought was possible on this planet. However, who it was pointed to was what irked Leon a bit. The man seemed almost nonchalant, as if he didn’t need the crowd in question. Like they were no big deal and were simply spectators, In that sense Leon simply could not agree. He was a musician, at least on this planet, and if he had to promise one thing AS a Musician. As he heard his opponent speak, he moved toward him right arm in front of him and nodded in slight disappointment.

“No, no, no. You have to play to them, DRAW them into what you’re saying…Watch.”

It would be a damn good show.

Moving a good 4 feet away, His hand shot up in the air, as electricity struck Leon’s hand, his guitar appearing in said hand moments. The Guitar, An axe shaped instruments, six stringed and brimming with static discharge. He reached the guitar toward his picking hand, and began to play*. His finger dancing about the fretboard. Every movement as careful as it is breakneck fast. in an easy attempt to draw the crowd away. They were his after all, and by the time the fight was done, he’d have them hook line and sinker. After he gave his brief introduction. He lifted his axe up in celebration as the crowd awed in his skills.“THANK YOU, THANK YOU, I implore you all to check out Kingdom Mercenary Company, right in Sigil, YOU GUYS ARE BLOODY GREAT!” He then turned around toward his opponent and smiled. “And Now, Back to your regularly scheduled fight, already in progress.” With that Leon was ready to go, his guitar now already pointed at his opponent.

“Ready, Boy?”

Rook appreciated the guitar playing, it was good to get a little hype every once in a while, but he didn’t appreciate the lecture.

“Alright mate, I’ll let you in on a secret. I can’t play a guitar, so for me, the show is when I let my fists do the talking. I love a little extra advertisement, but we’ll see who the crowd is cheering for when all’s said and done eh?”

“Oh yeah, don’t suppose you could play Free Bird could ya?”

With that final quip, that was the last the man would likely see of Rook’s grinning face as he casually launched the husk of the fruit he was eating over his shoulder and his meaty, gloved, hand wrapped around his mask and the balaclava. He lowered both so that only his grin was visible until the last moment, and then he fastened the mask around the back of his head.

“Guess I’m ready, but who you calling boy, mate?”

Tactically speaking, the guitar wielding man was about thirty feet away from Rook, off to his left as he stood still quite precariously close to the edge of the disc. Rook made his intent pretty clear as he stood, shield presented, and drew his sawn-off in one quick motion. Rather than firing immediately however the big man allowed the shortened barrel of the weapon to sink onto his shoulder and rest there. He took a few steps closer, shield at the ready, and waited for a good moment to strike.

Guess I’m ready, but who you calling boy, mate?

“You are a male, yes? Is that not what Males are called on this planet?" Leon himself wasn’t actually aware of the negative connontations of the word boy on the planet, and used it mostly for everyone on the planet. If he was aware maybe the bad looks he got from the darker colored kid would’ve actually affected him or made him feel something other than confusion when they yelled at him. It mattered not, what did matter was the current fight. His helmet began to form around his head, the steel formed seamlessly as the helmet’s visor began to glow a bright green. “Good to see you’re enthusiastic!” His voice was slightly mechanized due to the addition of the helmet and the microphone there in, which gave his voice a now more robotic sound.

Leon took close look to his weapon, It seemed to be a gun, but what kind of gun he wasn’t sure of, They’re were plenty of firearms on his planet, but none like the one he seen. A Two barreled weapon? What did it shoot. He wasn’t sure, but what he was sure about that the man did not attack with it instead he slung on his shoulders and began to approach him slowly with the shield in front of him. Leon however, did not react to attack, the best thing he could have was time, which gave him more than enough means to gather whatever was around.

Leon stood prone, electricity flowing around him, small fragments of metal and chips began to swarm around him, he then moved his body, setting himself to a ready stance, as the metal began to form into what seemed to be a Metal ball, a small ball about three pounds, about two were created and seemed to be circling around Leon, orbiting around the alien as if it was a small planet in it of itself.

Rook almost cocked his head like an inquisitive dog at the guy’s strange remarks, but eventually he clocked on. The guy wasn’t from Liverpool like he’d thought from the accent, he was some Gaian or some guy who was brought here through a portal like him.

“Ah, I thought you were a scouser, guess not. Well, ‘ave a look at some… eh… Earth history when you get a chance, yeah?”

Woah, was about all Rook thought as a helmet suddenly materialised over the guy’s face. That was a useful trick. Not quite as formidable as all the electrical shit where he started gathering metal shards into little balls around himself though. Looked to be a bit like an elementalist, from a cursory glance. Rook had some flash-backs to training with the old Bishop, an Earth elementalist who used his power in a similar way to this guy, gathering materials from around himself and making them into projectile sized objects. If Rook was a betting man, he figured this guy would do about the same thing as Bishop had done, and launch those balls at him at high speed.

Now, Rook usually would have taken this as a sign to get a move on and start beating on the guy, but he approached to within twenty feet instead. The reason for this was simple, he didn’t want the guy running too quickly, he liked him just where he was.

With nary a moment’s hesitation, Rook flicked the shotgun off his shoulder and swung it around the side of his shield, peering through the transparent section to protect his head. He fired the first barrel immediately, aiming for centre of mass. The bean-bag round hurtled through the air at over 200fps, threatening blunt force trauma if it collided with the man's chest like Rook intended. He was curious to see how the guy would react, and when he did, he would react to that reaction, readying himself to fire his second shot at whatever target presented itself, if any did. And with that, he took another step forward.

When the man spoke about History he clicked his head to the side. What does history have to do with the match, and what the bleeding hell is a Scouser. A lot of new things to the alien that did not make sense, and actually threw the alien for a loop. It seemed this planet had a fair bit of customs he himself was not aware of and needed to become aware of fairly quickly. What he was also not aware of, at least at first was that his opposition was already ready, once he heard the shots being fired, that was his cue for a quick defense. But it would be one that took no effort as well, he simply held his hand out and suddenly a huge circular electrical current revealed itself coming from his hand and covering most of his body, It would manage to seemingly stop the beanbag projectile with little to no effort.

show spoilerhide spoilerBoom Reflector

Leon simply holds his hand out in front of his a charge of electricity instantly creating a oval shaped force field that covers all of Leon’s front side (But not the back.) The Effect of the force field depends on what comes in contact with it. The shield itself can stand as long as Leon wants it too, but he must be standing still. The Shield however, can only stand up to one attack, if a second hit is commenced, the shield will break attacking the user, and causing a two turn cool down. If the shield is deactivated it will also cause a two turn cooldown.

Fire based Projectiles: Completely protects the user. However, the damage it can take from Fire is highly limited, and the longer the fire burns, the quicker the shield dissipates until it finally breaks, which will cause the stand two turn cool down.

Thunder based attacks: Being an electric use himself, Leon can either choose to absorb the energy from the attack, which will also retract the shield, Or shoot it back at the user at that instant, both will destroy the shield and cause a two turn cool down.

Water based attacks/projectiles: Strictly depends on the actual condition of the water itself. If the water is deionized then the attack will have no effect and will simple bounce off of the force field with no effect. However, if the water is ionized then the water based attack or projectile will not be blocked. Instead, the force field will break and Leon will not be able to use another reflector for Four Turns.

Any attack not of these elements will simply be blocked regularly and cause the standard cooldown limit.

Cooldown: Two turns, unless it comes in contact with water, Then it becomes FOUR turns.

Leon would refuse to give him a change to fire back, He reached his hand back to the neck of the guitar, Electricity Shrouded the edge of the guitar as Leon pointed the end of the guitar at his opposition. And with a Strum of a Simple Power Cord, one of the Metal balls broke apart forming back into the Metal shards they once were before the forming, and firing toward the man electricity flowing around them as they covered a mass of area, splitting into three different arcs every shard surrounded by an electrical current.

Scatter Triad -----> Triad Assault

Once Leon begins to strum in order to perform the scatter triad, instead of just gathering electricity; it will also gather any metals in the area (Again same rules as In Pieces apply.). While the electricity is shot into multiple arches however and continue on its path. The Metal shards will instead be shot forward with every arch, swarming the opposition with shards that travel about 65 Miles an hour: Enough force to stick into the opposition. That’s not exactly the end of the attack, if any of these shards manages to stick to their opposition. The metal chips are also magnetized at this point, meaning any electrical attack Leon uses afterwards, will hone onto the opposition. However, since it hones onto any source of metal, that mostly mean ANY metal can change the trajectory away from its opposition.

Cooldown: Eight Turns

Rook stepped forward, and watched as his bean-bag round harmlessly bounced off a magical electricity shield. It was always a long shot, hitting a magic-user with a mundane weapon like his from range, but bloody hell did the guy have to be so nonchalant about it? No matter, where ranged attacks might fail, beating his foe to death with his bare hands may prevail!

Rook moved as soon as he saw the effects of his beanbag round, advancing like a Roman Legionary with his body covered by his large shield. Only his ankles and below were unprotected, and armoured as they were, they were difficult targets at best and could look after themselves. Rook wasn’t exactly slow when it came to moving around, but neither was he all that quick, so closing on Leon would take him a good two seconds as he moved at a speed just shy of a jog. In which time Leon saw fit to unleash a barrage of metal at the mercenary.

Shards of razor sharp metal that had presumably been gathered off the floor as leftovers from far-gone battles hurtled towards Rook at just under seventy miles per hour. To anyone else, a sudden barrage of anything could be dangerous, especially metal. But Rook was well armoured, and he had a riot shield to boot. The thing was designed to stop hand-thrown projectiles, shrapnel, improvised weaponry, but it even served as an effective barrier to martial weapons of the far flung past. It was no surprise that as Rook closed in, he found himself entirely unscathed by any metal as it plinked against his shield. Most of it failed to even pierce the polycarbonate material sufficiently to remain stuck and simply dropped to the ground at his feet as he quickly advanced over it, paying it nary a second thought.

Now Leon had a choice, did he stand his ground and retain his magical shield, or try to flee before Rook closed in on him. Rook’s next actions would become apparent either way by the time he reached the six-foot mark, but he was ready to react with his shotgun to any sudden movements from his foe before this point.

Leon snarled as the body armor seemed to block his attack, at least it was a good measurement, he would need to at least damage the armor before the chips could penetrate. The Shielding dropped at that instant as well, mostly because it was one use anyway, However instead of taking much anger to a missed attack that was at best merely used to test his opposition. Quicker question was, what else was he going to plan outside of his shotgun, It would seem after a few moments Leon would find out.

He found himself suddenly being blitzed So at this point Leon had a choice, does he keep the attempt at keepaway going, or does he meet the charge head on? He decided to attempt to do a bit of both, how good was the armor against electrical pulses? This was something Leon had to consider, and he had quickly decided he was going to attempt to do both. He suddenly flipped his guitar and held it by its neck, set to use it for its secondary purposes, Though it would seem the man was preparing for a shot, Leon himself was not going to have it Lying down. Even before the man would reach him, Leon took his axe and made a wild swing.

show spoilerhide spoiler

Shredder

With a swing of his axe Leon is able to use air itself to slice objects, focusing a current of sound, to the point where it takes on a sharp edge which Leon launches at foes. Creating a slice that is equal to the cutting power of a regular axe swing. Creating an air rift, it becomes and opaque translucent shade making the current of sound visible. The current of the wind travelling about 150MPH (Nerfed in HoH to about 85MPH) can reach 10 ft in range until it begins to dissipate. He can use it up to three times in a row, but he has to wait twice as long to use the technique again.

So, he was going to drop his shield while Rook had a shotgun pointed right at him? Bad move. Shotgun beats guitar swing, every time.

The shotgun fired as soon as Rook saw that electrical barrier he had correctly summarised as a magical shield go down, sending a bean-bag round hurtling towards Leon at 200fps. He was less than ten feet away at this point, and had aimed right at the centre of that helmet the guy was wearing. It would probably protect him from the worst of it, but a formidable blunt impact directly to the face section of any helmet was likely to cause some damage, and the shock of it would no doubt throw Leon off his game as his head would be thrown back by the impact.

Best case scenario, whatever was used for a visor in that helmet couldn’t withstand a bean-bag round impact at this range. Worst case was that it was as hard as Rook’s own ballistic mask and he’d only buy himself a moment extra to run in on the guy. But even a momentary distraction could be the difference between Leon getting to complete his swing and Rook running straight into him shield first, driving him backwards with the force of the impact.

As The Beanbag would reach Leon’s face and smash into the helmet, The glass of the visors broke, a steam of blood spewing out. It seemed one of the glass shards had entered himself in Leon’s form, It was in his patched eye, one that seemed to be already damaged from previous battles. However, that was not the shocking part, The shocking part was that the impact had no effect, While it clearly did Damage him, it did not stop the Axe Swing as was possibly intended, nor did it actually phase Leon physically, his body ignored the pain that he had felt and thus the recoil.

Quote: Wrote:

> Hard as Iron > > > > If Leon is attacked with any physical attack while this skill is activated, Leon’s pain registers will temporarily shut down, all damage and flinching will be ignored. However, the very next turn will add both a two turn cooldown, and all of the damage from the initial attack will be felt on top of any other damage from the fight and after.

The swing continued a gust of wind would still swing itself toward Rook. The Gust of wind, if connected would do the same damage of a normal axe swing with probably the same effect. Seeing that Rook was attempting to run straight at him at that point, Leon took another swing, Swinging the axe in the opposite direction with both hands on the neck, This one without the wind, but something else under it’s hood, The axe seemed to glow as the swing began, vibrating wildly as one could hear a noise not dissimilar to a guitar’s feedback. If the shield was suddenly impacted by the axe, One would find that it would slice right through it, depending on the material, even ignoring that the damned thing exist depending on the strength of the shield itself.

Before Rook could fully appreciate the damage his bean-bag round had caused upon colliding with the man’s glass visor, he was rocked by a sudden cutting gust of wind that splashed across the face of his shield. Small shards of plastic sheared clear off the face and his arm rocked from the unexpected impact of what seemed to be a magical axe blow from afar. However, though the wind buffeted him and slowed him down, it did not stop him. His steps carried him ever closer, mindful of the axe to his right as he advanced with his shield out towards the weapon, his torso turned clockwise to about 1o'clock, it slightly exposed his far-left side, but with a weapon like an axe he was not expecting to face anything but that direct impact.

He was not to be disappointed either as he reached the five foot mark the heavy guitar that seemed to double as a medieval axe slammed into the flat of his shield, shearing away the plastic in a long groove. However, the high-impact polycarbonate repelled it, causing the axe to rebound off the front of the shield hard and with enough force to fling past Rook’s left side. If the burly bruiser was deterred by stopping a potentially lethal blow with his shield, he certainly did not show it. Instead he advanced all the way forward and pushed his shield out to properly ward off a follow-up axe blow. When he was in on Leon, he’d drive the man backwards using the plastic barrier as a pseudo-battering-ram, while his right hand drew back with the shotgun pointed towards his foe, though what Rook meant to do with an unloaded shotgun was uncertain.

As The Shield Bounced his axe swing back, Leon followed it forcing his axe down to the ground. However, it would seem that would be the most he could do, Suddenly the seething pain from the glass shard in his already bad eye began to put him on notice. He Recoiled, wincing in pain as blood seeped from his eyes dripping down to his cheek. With that pain in mind, Leon quickly retracted his helmet. It would take more than a while for that to heal, and sadly his healing factor wasn’t quite up to snuff when he was high off of his own adrenaline.

In short, he wasn’t going to heal from this until well after the fight in question. However, He stood still staring at the Shield and shotgun that now pointed at his face, he was stuck to be frank. At least on offense, he could give a rather convincing defense from the shotgun, but that didn’t exactly help him with penetrating offensively, he had to wait. Whatever that man planned with his shotgun, could be dealt with, but he needed a plan to get past that shield.

While that happened though, the shards that he flung at The shield weilding man had begun to shake on the ground again, for just a few seconds before flying back toward the user in question, he was planning something else for them, but he needed time, time and an idea.

Time was the one thing Rook had no intention of giving his enemy as he closed on him, driving his shield out and to the left into the man’s chest. In one fluid motion, the mercenary had drawn back his right hand with his empty shotgun and followed through by punching it forward, using the barrel of the gun like an impromptu bludgeoning tool aimed at the bottom of Leon’s face. It wasn’t a conventional attack by any means, but with the force of Rook’s shoulder behind it, well, it was naught to shrug at.

Immediately afterwards Rook pushed forward with his shield, driving it into the man’s body and arms to prevent him using his axe as he sought to wrestle Leon, who was hopefully dazed by Rook’s punch. Usually he would have used the electricity in his shield to aid in this task, but frankly, Rook didn’t think electricity was going to work on this guy.

If Leon was unprepared he could easily find himself driven back by the sheer bulk of Rook, and lest he forget, he had only a few feet of solid ground behind him before reaching the precipice. He could easily be taking a little tumble off the arena.
