Winter Arena

User Image

Description: As one walks in, they will see that the arena is now a lot smaller than the previous one, seeming to be starting some type of pattern. Now, the fighting area is only 100 yards in diameter, the ground covered in two inches of snow over soiled ground underneath, and the temperatures being a cold 20 degrees Fahrenheit, despite the ceiling being open with the sun shining down. However, there is no sign of a designated platform, meaning the entire area is pretty much game. 25 yards from the stands each are 10 feet blocks of ice, designated at each corner of the arena, blocky with no definite shape, yet can be stood upon with the right footing. The blocks are so thick, however, that breaking them is not something of ease, or melting them. In the middle, with a diameter of 30 yards is a sitting pool of water iced over with a nice firm sheet of ice, the water underneath being 10 feet deep. However, if it takes too much stress, the ice can easily break.

Ten Count Boundary: The ten count starts as soon as someone goes over the twenty foot wall into the stands, or into the pool of water. If a person is already in a counted area and the other fighter enters in, the count is reset. If a person is being forced to stay in a counted area against their own will, for example, by being binded by an indirect attack (such as vines, tendrils, etc.), then the count stops. However, the count continues if a person is using their own body to keep the other fighter down AND have no part of their body inside the fighting zone (as well as being at least five yards away from the fighting zone). In this case, the count is being counted against both members.

Crunch

Tres's feet dug into the snow with each step. Luckily Tres was wearing military boots and they would allow him to keep more traction on the snow than normal sneakers would but still, he kind of hated this. 'Why can't we just have a normal ring', he thought as he walked out from his caged corner and into the field. His hands would be in his pocket and his body would consciously shiver to produce body heat. That combined with his under shirt, shirt and leather jacket, and the fact that he was suited to harsh environments he was well prepared. he was fine as far as temperature went but still he just wanted to get this over with. His eyes scanned the white field for his opponent.

Man, I HATE the cold.

Reyin ran forward, donned in what garb he could manage to scrounge up at the last moment. In this case, a fairly comfortable fitting hoodie and his usual pair of pants. Were he better prepared monetarily he probably could have afforded some more fight-worthy gear. As it was, the hoodied and pants would have to do. His sneakers, on the other hand, were pretty worn. The thin layer of snow would have to provide all the traction for the poor guy.

"WHOOO!"

The blonde swordsman jumped from the stands, tucked into a roll when he hit the ice, and sprang up, and planted his feet, allowing the 5'11", 180 lb youngster to slide across the thin layer of ice in the middle of the arena before coming to a stop not more than six feet away from his opponent, Tres. The hood on the sweatshirt had flopped upwards, covering the top of his head.

Reyin, obviously full of energy, flashed a wide toothy grin at the guy before thumbing his nose.

He adopted a strange stance that looked like it was taken straight out of a Bruce Lee flick after the nose thumbing, and...all things considered, it probably was. He tossed his head back, allowing the hood to flop back into its normal resting place.

"What's up buddy? Ready to put on a show?"

This guy would have had to been the third to make the mistake of playing Tres's game and not there own. Tres was much larger than the blonde man who appeared in front of him. Tres stood about 6"2 and over 200 pounds, he was tall and covered in lean muscle.

He was clothed in mostly black casual clothing including a leather jacket and he wore his hair in dreads. Tres would not slow his walking pace momentum down as the man made his appearance, Tres would simply shift into his ready stance and continue moving forward with shuffling footwork. The ready stance was identical to a orthodox (left lead forward) boxers or kickboxers, nothing complicated.

Tres didn't really talk when he was fighting, but after fighting they could have the longest conversation reyin wanted.

The bruce lee stance, or the jun fan ready stance, was a stance semilar to the kickboxers but usually power (right) hand forward and with the lead hand low. Now there were two variations of this, the one bruce used in his movies and the one he used in real life depicted on the jkd hand book. The man seemed to take the fake one, which was usually a low side stance with the lead hand low and extended, and upon Tres getting in range he would take advantage.

Tres upon getting in range would throw the right low muay thai roundhouse to the opponents lead right upper thigh with the right shin. The low thai round came in down at the target at an angle with a tight arc that made the kick fast by removing the large arc roundhouses were usually known for. Tres would bend his rear knee to sink his weight into the strike while turning into it on the balls of his left foot and with his waist.

Tres's shin seemed harder than usual and would seem akin to taking a hard bat to the leg.

Aww man, this guy's no fun.

That grin never left Reyin's face as he dropped out of the stance before Tres had even closed the gap. The stance itself was just for show, as Reyin was 90% entertainment and 10% serious face when it came to fighting. As stated before, Reyin wasn't a martial artist, and he wasn't in the mood of pretending to be one. This guy was bigger than him, though, not by much, and looked like he knew how to fight. That wasn't to say Reyin was any slouch either. He looked like he was in about as good a shape as any human could be, but it was hard to tell underneath the hoodie, which, coincidentally, was also hiding his sword from view (save for the hilt popping up over the shoulder).

Since Reyin was stepping out of his stance, Tres' roundhouse would be a little easier to deal with since his center of balance was directly atop his legs.

"HUP!"

Up Reyin went, demonstrating a rather impressive vertical leap as he sailed overtop the kick aimed at his thighs.

"YAH!"

And then immediately straightened both legs to kick the soles of his sneakers into Tres' chest. Since it took mass to move mass, Reyin was glad that Tres didn't weight upwards of five hundred pounds, or he'd be having some troubles. But since the two weighed roughly the same, if the kick didn't floor Tres outright, it'd at least get some separation between the two as Reyin landed shoulder first onto the solid snow and ice.

Tres's kick was aimed to strike at a downward angle. This would allow him to place his foot down quickly and set him down in south paw stance. The round house technique had caused Tres to bend his knee's lowering his center of gravity, making him more stable, and Tres had set down his foot with enough power to send his foot through the thin layer of snow and into the wet yet rough ground beneath.

Tres would perform a boxers front block in front of his chest, still bending his knee's and leaning forward.

'Clank!', went the opponents feet as they hit Tres's forearms.

Tres would push against the opponents thrusting feet as they had slammed harshly into his bracer covered forearms. He would use his massive arms and powerful back and it would soon become apparent that while Tres's strength was at the sheer pinnacle of what a man was capable of.

"RAH!"

He shouted. His push would prevent him from being knocked prone by the kick but it would cause his body to slide back somewhat on the wet ground.

The opponent hit the ground and Tres smiled while explosively taking advantage. Tres would attempt to take the mount position. Tres would shoot forward as if with a double leg takedown quickly to place his body on top of the opponents straddling his hips. As he shot forward his arms would remain in front of his body. After taking mount, his hands would extend out to get control of the opponents wrist.

Reyin wasn't stupid. The moment he hit the ground and Tres backed up ever-so-slightly, Reyin decided he should probably get the hell out of dodge. His impact on the ice was rough enough as it was, he didn't need to get his face pounded. Tres shot forward, and Reyin took what amounted to as the coward's way out.

He ran away.

Sort of.

Reyin pushed backwards against the snow he was laying in. It didn't seem like he was going to make much progress, but we forget that Reyin had just skid across the thin layer of ice during his entrance and hadn't moved too far. One swift kick was enough to move him about a foot on the snow, which was more than enough to send him sliding backwards on the thin ice overtop the pool of water.

About to the end of the hole, Reyin sat up, drew his sword, and stabbed it into the ground. Water rushed up from the new puncture, just in case Tres decided to chase after him. It wasn't exactly going to bust open the whole pool, but running straight across the thing was going to be far more abusive than sliding on your back.

Once Reyin stopped he'd pull himself up to a standing position, this time with his sword in hand. Y'know, assuming he'd have enough time to actually get ready.

8Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

The double leg takedown shot always ended with one foot being planted to give the shooter the option to lift the opponent or simply push forward to knock the opponents body prone. However, Tres had missed the shot since the prone opponent kicked to launch himself upon the wet and now icy surface.

Tres smoothly in the end phase of the shot would do two things, in his right hand he would draw his machete from his boot strap and his left hand would dig through the snow and let his curved fingers draw a snow ball. Upon rising from the double leg back into his original stances footing he would toss the snow ball at the opponents face as a distraction for a moments thought.

Now the ice, Tres thought would give both him and the opponent bad footing. Tres was no slouch with a blade but his forte' was hand to hand and judging by the opponent drop kick; a lousy technique, the opposite may be true for him.

Tres knew what his goal was now that the opponent had drawn his sword and that was too get really, really, close. Now the question was...persue where the footing will suffer or not. Then just as Tres was about to step on to the icy pool of water he noticed that the opponent had just stabbed his sword into it breaking it up.

Now it would be foolish for Tres to follow, so his choice was made easy. Tres would stop at the edge of the pool. Tres would then look at the opponent and say,

"Teh Really?"

Tres would then raise his lead left knee and then low side kick at the pool with the left heel into the pool of water. With the power of Tres's massive thigh's a huge shock would be sent through the thin sheet of ice on which Reyin stood. The cracks would spread out like a wave and form under Reyins feet. Now the thin sheet of ice would shatter and give way to the water and Reyin would fall in lest he could fly.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

"So, you do talk."

Reyin was still all smiles, even after taking a snowball to the face halfway through his slide. It wasn't like the snow was hiding a rock or anything, so after a quick wipe, Reyin was back to his sliding. When Reyin had actually stopped, he was

, which meant he wasn't really in huge danger of falling into the icy depths. He was able to stand up, picking his sword up out of the ice in the process.

"And here I was..."

Tres' kick sent cracks along the circle of ice, causing Reyin to take a single step back as the ice shattered and spread out along the small pool of water. Standing at the water's edge, Reyin hesitated for but a moment, then he sprung forward.

The ice by itself was capable of supporting the blonde, as evidenced by his sliding across the pool twice now. With chunks of ice still floating, it was only safe to assume that as long as Reyin didn't attempt to stand on the ice, he'd be fine.

He bounded from right foot to left foot, shooting across the ice like a man possessed in three steps, ten feet hardly being a big challenge.

The blonde would launch himself from the last piece of ice with his left foot, dragging his right foot back behind his body as he did so.

"That you were a mute!"

And Reyin would lash out with a vertical kick aimed to catch Tres square in the jaw. His sword hand was kept up near his chest, with the sword held horizontally with the point facing to Reyin's left. Reyin's left hand, meanwhile, seemed to just hover above his waist.

Thats it

Tres thought.

rush in fast

Currently Tres's stance was left lead forward with his legs spread medium width and his knees slightly bent. His chest was squared forward albeit turned slightly to the right. His left hand was low with the left hand in front of the left oblique, while the elbow of the arm was held away from the body keeping it ready to move. The right hand was positioned in front of the chest, holding the machete vertically at a slight angle to the left so that the blade blunt edge would be positioned in front of his face.

Tres would as the kick would come in at his face, lean backwards while sliding his rear right foot back. Immediately after the kick would miss its target he would perform a low side kick aimed towards the opponents instep.

This kick would take advantage of the fact that the opponent was throwing a high kick with a ton of forward momentum on a slippery surface, this would send his momentum completly out of his control by knocking his stationary foot out from under him; sending him falling forward in a split.

The opponents weapon was held horizontally in front of his body with the blade pointing to the left in his right hand. After the kick Tres would simply shift his weight forward while following through with the downward momentum of the kick to put his foot down quickly. He would lean slightly to the left to let the opponents right kicking leg fall harmlessly to the ground. Simultaneously Tres would reach out with his vajra mushti glove covered hands to snatch the blade of the sword.

Tres wouldn't have to reach far since the opponent would be coming close so he would keep his left forearm in a vertical position as he would go for an overhand grasp, this would keep a constant barrier between the opponents blade and Tres's body.

Simultaneously Tres would attempt to place his right hand machete blade at the right side of the opponents neck, and during the turn of the waist he would slide the machete blade on the opponents neck to cause him to bleed without dealing any massive damage. Tres was not here to kill anybody, he could have drove the pointed weapon into the opponents throat but he didn't want to kill this guy.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

Tres' plan was a pretty textbook example of why it was never really smart to leave your feet in a fight. But Reyin really had no such thing as a stationary foot. Hell, he was still practically flying into Tres when the kick was launched, and he wasn't going to stop soon after passing him, either. Tres' would kick at Reyin's leg and still find some success, however. Reyin's knee shot forward and the moment his toes touched the snow they started dragging rather uncomfortably. Reyin's foot was still almost at his head, and in the process of coming down when his forward momentum stopped and the blonde nearly did a face plant into the snow.

Unfortunately, the rest of Tres' plan involving grabbing the sword and slicing Reyin's neck with the machete were going to be put on hold, because, as said before, Reyin had a lot of momentum. Tres was free to follow up, but as it stood Reyin had traveled about ten feet past his target with that little jump.

"GYAH!"

Reyin was still far from being scott-free, though. His left leg was fully extended, toes digging into the snow while his right was bent at a roughly 45 degree angle at the knee. Unfortunately, he wasn't resting on the ball of his right foot and the strain of the sudden stop had nearly torn his quadricep.

Reyin ducked his head down and peered through the space between his right arm and chest, aiming to get a good view of where his opponent was before acting next.

12Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

Tres's lack of gaian inexperience was showing. His opponent seemed to be making mistakes but Tres was failing to take any real advantage. He didn't have first blood and every second that Tres did not have that made him more and more agitated.

'Ssllllliiiinnng!'

Went the opponents blade as it would probrably slide cross Tres's forearm bracer as the opponent flew past and would eventually go nearly face first ten feet behind him in the snow. In Tres's previous movement he would make a clockwise turn with his waist and now he would follow through with that movement to face the opponent as he went past.

As Tres would turn to face the opponent his left hand would reach inside of his jacket and would remove that machete blade that had the handle broken off in the last battle. He would take up the blade in his left hand and in the same motion toss it at the lower back of the distant opponent. The blade would spin horizontally. The opponent may catch the handless blade out of the corner of his eye coming at his back. He would use the power of his turn in the throw.

Tres immediately after turning to face his opponent and tossing the blade would begin to move towards his opponents back. He would switch the machete to his left hand, in his right hand he would draw his ka-bar knife and would simultaneously move towards the opponent with shuffling footwork with his left side forward. The blade would be held low with the blade pointing forward at a slight upwards angle. The right hand would be in front of the face with the elbow held close to the body. .

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

13Designated Hero

"Nnf!"

Reyin fell flat onto his chest, allowing the machete blade to whiz past and sink into an ice block not too far away. Reyin rolled over onto his back, then kicked up to his feet which was a pretty damn hard thing for the youngster to do without the snow.

He rocked back, caught himself, then dropped his stance and rushed in towards Tres.

Seemed that his opponent had two weapons, which was a bit of a concern since they were both sharp and Reyin was filled with meats. But a four and a half foot longsword had more reach than a machete, so Reyin was going to make the most of that range.

Spinning the sword in his right hand, Reyin attempted to stop his forward momentum a good six feet in front of Tres. Once in that position he'd just swing his sword across his chest in a horizontal, right to left motion. The two would be far enough away that the resulting wound, should Tres be unable to dodge, would only be an inch deep at the most.

It was a fairly simple slash, without risking too much follow-through while sending the message 'get any closer and the next cut will be about a foot deeper'.

14Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

With that long sword the opponent had a considerable reach advantage and Tres currently didn't have his throwing weapons on him. Tres would step back as a fencer would, feet sliding smoothly against the snow on a short but quick retreat while turning his waist in a counter clockwise turn to put his chest more square to the opponent. This would let the blade pass harmlessly just in front of him. Tres didn't want to go back too much because now the opponent was pushing him towards the pool of Ice.

Immediatly after the blade would make its pass in front of tres's body, Tres would touch his left hand machete against the upper portion of the opponents sword and would step in while pressing the blade out to his left side, Tres's left hand would remain on guard. He did this to prevent the opponents blade from running him through and to get in close.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

15Designated Hero

Since Reyin was swinging from right to left, either Tres had managed to push Reyin's sword back to Reyin's own right side or Tres was pushing the sword out further to Reyin's left. Assuming Tres' intention was to push the blade away following the swing, it'd most likely be pushing the sword to Tres' right, and Reyin's left. Using the machete blade put Tres' right left hand out past his body, and before Tres could begin to advance, Reyin reacted.

"Hnf."

The subtle motion of shifting his body weight forward caused the snow to crunch beneath the balls of his feet as his left foot took the lead. Then, without much warning, Reyin's sword dipped down, dropped behind Tres' machete, and then pushed the weapon in towards the center of the two fighters just before Reyin pushed himself upward with a jump.

"HYAH!"

In a similar motion that he had performed during his first fight, Reyin went into a moonsault, kicking upwards with his right foot aimed in the general direction of Tres' right hand. The toe of Reyin's foot would hit somewhere along the wrist or closed hand and, with any luck, disarm the bigger guy's machete.

Of course, there was still the knife to worry about. And since Reyin wasn't much of an acrobat and had even less traction than before, he actually landed chest first in the snow following the kick. Still, there was a knife to worry about, and Reyin wasn't much in the mood for being stabbed while laying prone on the ground. Hands underneath him, Reyin didn't make it more than halfway up before he attempted to pounce before opportunity stabbed him in the back.

So he did the only thing he could really hope to do. He lunged forward, shoulder first, at Tres' midsection in the best impression of a football tackle he could manage.

16Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

A big flashy attack by reyin that would prove unusually effective in the disarming of Tres. The mans foot right came up in a huge moon sault that would dislodge the machete from Tres's hand, causing it to be knocked up and behind Tres landing blade first into the snow.

Then the opponent would land chest first into the snow and before Tres could dive on top of him, he would do something that Tres found to be a blessing. As soon as Reyin came in for the tackle tres would sprawl out. Tres was a wrestler and the sprawl being the best defense against a double leg or tackle, he did it without any actual thought of moving.

Tres would shoot his legs back while thrusting his hips to the ground. Simultaneously he would place his left arm between his body and the area between the opponents leading left shoulder and neck. That left arm (bicep) would then be a brace allowing Tres to shoot his lower body away from the opponent. Tres's chest would be on top of the back of the opponents left shoulder. Tres's left forearm would reach to put pressure on the opponents right bicep. The opponents right hand held (?) the sword and he needed at least a small measure of control over it.

A football tackle hit the midsection of the body but to knock the opponent down it was required that the legs be pulled in, now that the opponent did not have control of the legs he would not be able to achieve a dominant position upon the tackle. Simultaneously with Tres's right hand he would stab the knife down into the opponent down into a more meaty section of the back likely beneath the left shoulder blade. He would keep his right elbow down to limit the motion of the opponents left arm.

Tres upon sprawing out of the Tackle, Tres would shoot his hips up. This would put more pressure down on the back of the opponents left shoulder to keep his body down. The opponent had made at tackle and that meant his knee's wouldn't be able to build a base beneath his body. If the knife was lodged into the opponents back he would let go of the blade and move his right arm to press down and forward on the opponents left bicep. This would allow Tres to circle around to the opponents back while constantly keeping pressure on the opponents upper back to keep him down.

Tres would arrive on top on the opponents back if he was allowed to circle all the way around and upon getting to this position he would figure four lock his legs around the opponents waist. Tres's left hand had never left its spot on the opponents right bicep. This position of the hand would place the forearm around the opponents neck once he arrived behind the opponent. If he was able to arrive in this position, Tres would lift his left hand from the opponents right bicep and place it on his own right bicep which he would place above the opponents right shoulder. His right forearm would simultaneously move behind the opponents head. He would then tense his chest and squeeze with his arms, choking the opponent in the technique known as the rear naked choke.

This would all be done in about 2 seconds time, because these movements were simple and efficient.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

17Designated Hero

Reyin's sword hand would probably be the least of Tres' worries. The sword wasn't to be underestimated, that much was for sure, but the blade's four and a half foot length wasn't exactly condusive to stabbing someone who was on his back.

Still, that didn't stop Reyin from regretting his latest course of action when a knife was shoved into his back. Reyin ground his teeth, biting back a scream as blood bubbled up around the wound and stained his hoodie.

On the plus side, the blood was really warm compared to the frigid air of the arena.

Reyin's left hand reached back, presumably to pull the knife out but finding little success due to its positioning. Next thing Reyin knew, he had a very big arm wrapped around his neck and a slightly bigger guy on his back. He gasped once, then narrowed his eyes.

Tres was so worried about controlling the right hand that he probably didn't even bother to notice that when Reyin's left hand dropped back down, it had slipped underneath the hoodie and unsheathed a small hunting knife from his belt. He probably wouldn't even notice Reyin spinning the blade around in his hand so that the point faced behind him.

And Lord knew he probably wasn't going to be very happy when a flurry of very poorly aimed stabs came from the prone blonde, all directed towards Tres' left side and upper arm. The stabs were random and poorly placed, but there sure were a hell of a lot of them.

18Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

'Damn'it they always have a sidearm'

The white snow would soon turn a deep crimson red. Tres regardless had to make a choice. He was going to be stabbed regardless but he did have a choice in how many times he did get stabbed. He had the choke and if he let go to keep himself from being stabbed, then he could lose this fight. Tres thought about it, whoever loses consciousness first loses.

"RAAAAAH SHIT!"

Tres shouted in absolute agony. That was his first time being stabbed. Luckily because of his leather jacket a few of the random stabs would slide against the thigh leather jacket and thick hide like skin that his superior genetics gave him but a few of those stabs, they tore through his tight abdominal obliques to poke one of his kidneys. Another ran through his left deltoid and left tricep. Tres would move his head to the right side of the opponents head and he would squeeze with his arms and pump his chest with every thing he was, all of his might.

Tres was as strong as a human could get, even though his size didn't neccesarily reflect it. All air, all blood going through the neck would suddenly cease and it wouldn't be long before the opponents muscles that stabbed so sporadically would run out of juice and he would pass out. If Tres squeezed any longer the opponents windpipe would be crushed by the pressure. Tres's forearms had thin but very hard bracers, plus the thick jacket, on them and they would also make sure that the opponent no room between Tres's vice and his neck.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

Nngh...dammit.

Reyin closed his eyes for a brief moment, and after one final (supposedly) successful stab aimed towards Tres' torso, Reyin gripped onto the hilt of his knife and just sort of froze for just a second. He was getting lightheaded, and it wasn't exactly a pleasant feeling.

Ten seconds was typically a blackout point. Thankfully, a lot could happen in ten seconds.

Sorry to do this to you, bud. But...I gotta breathe.

Reyin ripped the the knife up through Tres' torso, all the way up to the arm pit where it would be pulled free and slash along the underside of Tres' left arm on its way out. He'd drop the knife shortly afterward, and make one final action.

He wasn't far from the water's edge, even Tres had acknowledged that. His arm extended outward, and gripping onto the edge of the pool of water, Reyin pulled forward. He didn't need to get the whole body into the water, he just needed to get the upper half near the edge.

His fingers screamed in protest to the freezing water, and his mind, in a fog though it was, was telling him that this was a very bad idea, especially considering the lack of blood flow to his brain.

Still, if it meant getting Tres off of him, Reyin was willing to dive head first into the frozen abyss.

20Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

The blade would come up from the obliques all the way to the bottom rib. This is where the blade would likely be forced to come out. Driving the knife through the leather and thick hide like skin would likely be difficult but possible, anything would help in Tres's dire situation. The opponent had the option of stabbing up into the underarm even though from the opponents position it would be difficult, so it likely wasn't going to be that deep.

Tres's side however was completly eviscerated and the amount of blood he was losing was somewhat ridiculous, depending on how deep the opponent could get that knife through the leather, through the thick skin and tight muscle...probably pretty far regardless.

Tres's forearm was covered in a bracer that would defend the slash along the arm on the way out. The fact that Tres was still conscious after all that was a bit epic because of the sheer pain that must have caused.

*" AHH SHIT....

ALRIGHT..."*

With those last two stabs, Tres would do something rather desperate. After he would shout 'alright', he would bite the sleeve of his left arm and even after the knife ripped through the veins and arteries that flowed into the left arm and the arm went numb the strength of Tres's neck would hold the arm tight and it became obvious that as they descended into the cold depth's. Tres was not letting go until his opponent passed out.

Tres had the liberty of taking a large breath of air before they descended into the water.

In about 5 seconds, only one man would ascend from the water depth's.

The breather or the Butcher?

A match won by seconds, maybe not won by anyone at all.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

21Designated Hero

Oh hey, that water was really goddamn cold. Reyin's right hand had released his sword, because that weapon wasn't going to be doing much use in the water.

Reyin would have gasped from the sheer shock of hitting the water, but he kind of had a hard time breathing currently. He hit the water, and tumbled slightly.

A counter started for the audience overhead.

1

This is why Reyin had wanted to go into the water, because under water, he didn't have to worry about gravity and a huge guy sitting on his back putting pressure on him, keeping him from freeing up his hands and whatnot. He could focus on doing other things. Like, for instance, freeing his neck from the vice.

You don't have a choice, kid...

2

His mouth was opening on its own, obviously trying to catch a breath despite the fact he really couldn't, while both of his hands came upwards. He couldn't fit his fingers between the arms and his neck, but he could grab hold of the bracers.

You either get free now...or you're gonna die.

3

Reyin wasn't as strong as Tres, and he was short on oxygen, but Reyin was pretty goddamn athletic. Not to mention that he was basically pulling against the muscles in a guy's neck with two arms. Surprisingly, Reyin had a bit of an advantage here.

Adrenaline was kicking into overdrive as panic filled Reyin's mind, and his lungs were threatening to burst. Blood vessels contracted in relation to the cold, perhaps buying the blonde just a little bit more time.

4

The moment he even got so much as a centimeter of space he'd start inhaling.

The only problem was, Reyin was inhaling water, freezing cold water. But the shock alone was enough to send his head snapping back into Tres' face on reflex.

Assuming this was enough to at least stun Tres, Reyin would make a mad dash...er...swim, for the water's surface.

There were no bubbles coming from his lips, because there was no air in his lungs. He was running on fumes, now.

5

"AAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOH!"

Reyin broke the surface, breathing for the first time in what felt like years and hacking up water all at the same time. It was a vicious, painful cycle, and Reyin seemed more concerned with trying to catch his breath than getting back to the in-bounds region, or kicking his opponent in the face to make sure he didn't get dragged back under.

He felt nauseus, and his body was shaking from the cold. He couldn't even make out the crowd, his vision was so blurred, and for all intents and purposes he looked as pale as a sheet.

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

The crowd would stand to there feet and look down in the water. Behind the broken plates of ice what happened beneath was unknown. The suspense was as thick as the cloudy air that seeped from each persons mouth as they would breath. The counter ran like a slow heart beat that nobody seemed to hear. Time would seem to slow down as each second would stretch to a minute.

ONE, 'NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME'

Tres had a few cards up his sleeve left, but not many. The opponent dropped his sword, a smart move and he used that free hand to pull against the bracer of the left. Tres was strong but his neck alone wasn't going to keep his left arm in place especially as the cold uncomfortable water began flow into his mouth through his shiny white teeth.

The cold water bit harshly at the massive wounds on the side of his body. He put the pain out of his mind by repeating constantly in his head...

TWO "NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME"

Now as soon as his left arm was freed from his grasp Tres's right arm would just as quickly slide underneath the gap between the opponents chin and neck to replace the position of the left arm. His right hand would grab for his jacket on his left shoulder.

THREE NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME

shhnnn

He got it, me managed to slide in that right hand into position for the one armed RNC, as soon as his arm was finally ripped from its place. He took advantage of the fact that Reyin used both arms to pull the left, limp, arm from place. His left arm hung limp on his left side but it did not matter.

FOUR NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME!!!

Tres's head was placed on the right side of the mans head above his right shoulder, the mans head springing back out of shock would miss and Tres would be free from the shock that may have resulted. Tres's legs were wrapped around the opponents body in a figure four lock, even if Tres wanted to let go, he could not do so immediatly. The vice around the opponents body was very tight.

Even if Tres's right hand did not get its place, the figure four would not break and the opponent would be held prisoner beneath the waves. Tres was like a cement block that the mafia tied to peoples feet before they dropped them in the water.

Five NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME!!!!!

The adrenalin shot of death's near approach was the only thing keeping Tres awake from the deadly cold and the blood loss. The desire to win seemed to over ride everything and Tres would hold on, just for a few more seconds.

SIX SOMETHINGS GOT TO GIVE!!!!!

LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR

LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOOOORRR

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

23Designated Hero

Let's do the Time Warp Agaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiin~

Obviously, since Reyin wasn't freed, he'd have done some things differently.

Reyin wasn't planning on sitting still. If the arm was freed, Reyin was already scrambling for the surface. This was a guy who was frantically trying to save his own life. If he had but an inch, he'd take it. The legs were more of a problem, but if only...

4

A hand shot up from the water's edge, fingers grabbing ahold of the ice even as Reyin's right arm moved to push against Tres' right. As long as he could keep an ounce of seperation he wouldn't, well, have to worry about cashing in his chips early.

5

The left hand, frozen as it was, clung to the ice's edge despite the fact that it was practically frozen to the surface. And, with as much strength as he could muster, Reyin pulled up. Two bodies, close to four hundred pounds in sogging wet clothing, Reyin's exhausted head, arched upwards towards the sky, barely broke the surface. His muscles shook, his body ached, and he was still trying to keep two bodies afloat while fighting off a guy choking him to death.

6

Yeah, everything was real cool.

24Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

Four SOMETHINGS GOT TO GIVE

Yeah, managing to get to the surface with both of them was getting Reyin mad respect points. However, by arching his head up and not keeping his chin down was gonna make it harder to get that ounce of seperation he desperately needed.

Five SOMETHING GOT TO GIVE

Tres would tense his massive pectorals causing them to push against the opponents back and pull harder against his shoulder and jacket to further decrease the space in an effort to keep his opponent from taking a breath upon his head reaching the surface.

Six YEAAAHHHH!

All reyin had to do was tap out and he could live but until Tres passed out from the blood loss he was going to fight as hard as he could. Tres would take another breath upon reaching the surface but with the loss of blood he found it a lot harder to breath.

Its getting down to the wire.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

25Designated Hero

Fucker's...heavy...

Reyin's head was only arched back because it was the only way for him to get access to air. He was barely scratching the surface of the water, his left arm straining to keep the two bodies afloat. His right was still valiantly struggling against Tres' own right arm, but since pushing was a little bit easier than pulling, he was meeting with more success than he had been before. He still hadn't quite recovered his breathing, as noticed by the fact he was still coughing and hacking up water with every other breath. But at least his vision was returning to normal.

It was then that he caught notice of the jumbo tron overhead, counting down the seconds before a ring out was decreed.

3...

Reyin tensed his left arm and tried to pull up, but found no success. It was one thing to pull up two submerged bodies. It was a completely different thing to pull both of those out of the water.

His grasp on the edge loosened ever so slightly, and his eyes widened.

2...

He'd made it this far...tapping out now would be pointless. It would be a sign of weakness. No, he wasn't going to give up. Heroes never gave up, heroes never quit when the going got rough.

Just two seconds...

1...

Reyin's skin was literally peeled off of his fingertips as the muscles in his arm finally succumbed to the lack of oxygen. He couldn't support the weight any longer by himself. Blood stained the snow as he scrambled to regain his grip before fading beneath the water's surface once again.

Kind of a lame way to go...

The blonde mused to himself as the bright lights of the arena faded further and further away as the two bodies sank into the water. Eventually he just closed his eyes. Even though the two only sank for a few seconds, it seemed like an eternity.

0.

His right arm finally dropped to his side, no longer capable of putting up a fight.

26Tres Ecstuffuan

You cannot fuckin stop me! I will keep fighting!!

As soon as the mans arm went lip against the struggle Tres would scramble. He would let go of the mans neck. The thought occured to Tres that he may be playing dead but it did not matter if Tres did not get out of this cold water now it would not matter if he won the match because he would surely die. Tres would grab the opponent under his underarms and would support the mans left arm under his shoulders and he would swim with the fear of death in him to the edge of the pool.

He would then crawl out, dragging the opponents body with him as tres did not want to see this man die. He was a good opponent and he had fought just as hard as Tres did but then something that Tres was not expecting would happen as he crawled on the snow, dragging both of there wet bodies to the icy shore.

A feeling like hot daggers frying his insides would well up in his chest, yet, Tres could not find the breath in his lungs to scream. A worry as black as night would gather in his mind and yet at the same time thought became cloudy. The chill of the air made his body stiff and even as he wanted to shivver on the cold ground he could not. The only motion he could find for himself to make was the slow closing of his eyes and the quick drift into merciful sleep.

Tres would do his best to stray from the light at the end of the tunnel that he saw within his minds eye, hopefully the paremedics would come quickly to save them both.

It won't be over until...! YOU! HIT! THE! GROUND!

27Designated Hero

Reyin was still, for the most part, conscious. He could see the light growing closer as he was hauled back up to the surface. He even did his best to help pull his own weight out of the freezing waters. But there wasn't any sort of sound coming from his mouth except for the occasional cough and wheezing breath.

He was currently curled up in the fetal position, shivering like mad, and obviously at a deep risk for hypothermia given the lack of blood flow that was taking place while he was underwater. His hoodie was drenched and not exactly making his body feel any warmer, but he couldn't muster the strength to pull off the clothes like he should have.

The blonde was ghastly pale, his left hand was bleeding from the lack of skin there, and were it not for the shivering somewhat reminescent of a seizure, he probably would have been mistaken for a corpse.

Eventually he just closed his eyes, and the shivering slowed to a stop.

28Midus Sonners

"Oh, shi!"

Already the medics were on the way after the count dropped to zero, the crowd standing in awe as they hold their breaths to see what had happened to the two during their final seconds underwater. Stretchers were already on the way, along with warm blankets, some of the medics having restorative magic. They couldn't do any operations on the field, but they would at least have this steady flow of energy go from their hands to each of the men's bodies to keep them stabilized. "Get these two to the emergency room now!" The head medic screams this. The two men are each placed up onto their stretchers and off they go, both heading for the infirmary.

Thus, the match ends, with the decision of victor being left up to the judges.
