Boiling Arena

Description: A pathway extends from each entrance way, allowing each fighter to walk to the center platform, walking over the firey coals below. Once you reach the center platform, the pathways extend back toward the doors, starting the match.

Due to the heat this arena gives off, the stands are given a heat-resilient transparent pane to look through for the audience, thus disallowing entry into the stands. But the ceiling is open to allow the heat to vent out. The ground is now scattered with hot coal being heated by a system underneath, making the temperature in the fighting ring at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The only best place to fight on would be the 50 yards diameter stone platform in the center of the ring, standing 6 ft from the ground. Though it isn't giving off heat that would burn your feet, the sheer warmth coming from it should be enough to show that even this platform is having a hard time resisting the heat around it. To help fight against the temperatures, each fighter is only given one 20 oz. bottle of water for them to use.

Ten Count Boundary: The only ten count boundary is going above thirty feet into the air. Thus, the entire fighting area is open, with the stands being restricted off by the pane of glass protecting the audience.

2Fierach

Ah.

So thats why they gave him a bottle of water.

Akechi had already drunk half of it.

He hastily poured the rest on his head, and stripped bare except for his Chuck Norris boxers and his combat boots. Granted, all of his weaponry were still hanging onto him with a strap there, and a sheathe here, the combat knife, his holstered revolver, the claw hammer, and, last but not least, his trusty maglite flashlight.

And he proceded to the center of the arena. Damn it was hot, like the freaking desert in the middle of the day. Already, sweat listened down on his back. Thankully he had his boots on, or he might get a case of hot feet.

"WHOOOO SEXSAY" came the calls and whistles from the audience, particulary female viewers. They enjoyed the sight of a tough and rugged man in nothing but shoes and his underwear, and while Akechi wasn't pretty-boy material, it was clear that this right here was a proper man, built like a prize bull.

3Infer Elade

A low constant grumbling came from Akechis left as Kaine walked along the coals of the battlefield to the arena. "Damn opponents not showin up all the damn time." he was pissed. Once again he had gone without and opponent for battle. This time he had one and he wouldnt by play with him. No he was gonna fight this time. Lifting his eyes as he walked with a rather angry look upon his face, Kaine noticed that he had an opponent and he was ready and waiting for him to enter. Moving a bit more hastily as heat built up around his body, the heat from the coals absorbing into him with each passing step and folding along the outside of his body. He planned to go all out this time. He wasnt visibly armored at least to the untrained eye since his armor was fashioned in such a way that it looked and weight not much more than normal clothing. His greaves fit him like boots and his gauntlets like gloves, yeah he seemed to be dressed quite normally. Once again he would be labeled as odd to wear completley black clothing in such a hot enviornment, save the pouch upon his waist that was more grey than black. Jumping up at the edge of the arena, he caught onto it with his hand and quickly pulled himself into the arena. By this point, if his opponent was paying attention. Heat obviously didnt affect his clothes..... or him...

4Fierach

Akechi glared at the kid.

Another fire meta. God damnit.

He raised a hand and pointed at the kid.

"You picked the wrong day to face me you little fire brat." he snarled and started to rush the boy, pulling out his claw hammer in his right hand and his combat-knife in the other. A flicker of a light-blue energy whip-lashed off to the side from an eye.

Knowing this tournament, Akechi's current opponent would probably be some sort of demon with wings, super strength, super speed, the ability to heat further then the sun, in addition to the ability to fly.

Thus, Akechi needed to close the distance.

Of course, veteran mercenary would still probably be the better warrior. After all.

Akechi was human.

5Infer Elade

Kaine merely glared at the man as he rushed him. It would take a couple of seconds, more than enough time to reach into his pouch with his right and left hands, pushing aside the bottle of water that was left with him along with the letter. That bottle of water would come in handy later if he so needed it but right now he merely reached for his green burner. His green burner was nothing more than a kunai marked with a green string tied around its handle. Now in his left hand he pulled out a red melt shard, a kunai like the last but this one marked with a red string. Kaine didnt even bother to walk forward into the arena. He was no more than about four to five feet from the edge of the six foot tale stone platform. Now his opponent was quite foolish to rush what he dubbed a "fire meta" on his own terrain. Not only that but a kid well versed in mid-range combat. Unknown to his opponent the heat he had gathered from the coals as well as what he could release from his body was being forcefully pushed into the metal of the blades, and with the help of the enviornment, the weapons heated up quite fast. The exact purpose of these weapons were still unknown to his opponent and he probbaly assumed that they were for nothing more than defense. But this man would be sadly mistaken.

6Fierach

*"Heh."

"Arrogant lil bugger. Not even moving or assuming a stance. Probably has some crackpot plan cookin' in that tiny head of his."*

Sweat glistened from Akechi's brow already as he closed even further. He spotted somethin in the child's hand. A kunai. Little shovel-knife, hahaha. Guy probably thought he was a ninja or something like that. Mind you, Akechi could tell it was extremely hot, metal tended to give off a glow when they were super-heated.

Yeah. The boy was definately planning something. Akechi knew that kunai were typically horrible for defense. Short, stubby, with one sharpened area, the point, they were best employed for throwing and stabbing. Akechi's eerie sky-blue eyes narrowed as the dirty blonde slowed his stride, taking more deliberate, hunched over strides at his opponent, knees bent more and moving forward on the balls of his feet.

7Infer Elade

How close was his opponent now? Ten feet away, possibly closer. At anyrate it was close enough to for mid range combat to go into action but Kaine wanted things to go a bit smoother than the way they would go now if he attacked. So.... he moved. Darting forward as his opponent moved closer. He closed the distance to a mater of seven feet in a matter of a stride or two and attacked. As far as his opponent was concerned he could indeed see that the metal was hot, something keen for these two kunais despite their special design. But because of this his opponent merely thought that he would use them as throwing tools. Yes he did have quite an arm on him and a pretty damn good eye but he wasnt going to waist his weapon like that. Taking his left hand he moved it from the outside of his body to the inside, moving it from left to right in a horizontal slash like one would a sword of any kind. His opponents first thought probbaly was that he was going to throw the weapon but that was not the case. At the moment he swung the weapon, he further forced a good deal of heat into the weapon so that as he swung it melted. This metal, now liquid form and quite hot, would fly across the air in splotches that his opponent would not be able to guard easily against at all being that he pretty much had nothing on anyway save boxers and boots while Kaine wore what he considered propper battle clothing that could absorb heat alot faster because of their color. At anyrate these sploches of red hot metal were aimed for the mans torso and it would burn him bad. Some might even make it to his face, legs, etc. He was throwing a liqiud at the man. There was little way to tell where exactly it would go but at least the majority was thrown towards his midsection. As he did this his green burner was ready to defend for him. The man did have a knife and a hammer but his knuai would do and it waited ready at his side.

8Fierach

Oh.

Now that was interesting. He wondered briefly for an instant why the judges let in some kid who could melt metal. Granted, most fire metas could, but this child seemed to have no concept of control. Truth be told, the kid might have killed somebody by now, and by all means he should've been disqualified long before now.

Akechi didn't plan on diein' though. Not to an amateur. It'd take a whole damn city-load of pain-immune metal zombies with radioactive breathe or the equivalent to take down Akechi.

There was one good thing. In the past days, for a psychic like Akechi, the severe trauma and injuries to his body (ie, broken leg, getting grabbed by an electric dynamo, burned horribly, getting flung into the ground at a high speed), had actually increased his psionic powers.

And decreased his reluctance to use them.

His head twitched at an awkward angle as blood trickled out of his nose, indicating that was now using his psychics. His head throbbed in a mild headache too, but Akechi ignored everything but the objective.

"The hell you do!" he snarled, and the molten liquid seemed magically suspended itself in midair mere moments from melting into the mercenary. Reaction was just barely possible due to his mentally-enhanced reflexes, psionics helped him with that. Granted that Akechi's use of psychic powers was still comparably weak to most others of his type, a small kunai, even the super-heated liquid bits of it, was child's play to influence.

So Akechi sent it zooming right back at the kid, all the droplets. They had a focal point though. A few seconds after his opponent tossed bits of molten metal at him, the kid would find blindingly hot metal in his eyes and in his face.

And then he'd probably find himself getting clubbed in the left side of the head a moment after that, by Akechi's hammer in a powerful swing. The mercenary was eager to take advantage of any vulnerability that presented itself. The KABAR was held close to his body, ready to defend while Akechi relied on his longer reach stepped in with his right foot and took a massive swing with his claw hammer if he saw any vulnerabilities.

9Infer Elade

Oh Kaine did have a concept of control. It was now obvious to him that his opponent had some form of physic ability. Although he knew this he couldnt pin point his opponents limitations to what he could and couldnt do. Well, time to press on. That he did as he didnt stop after flinging the liquid. It merely was a good distance ahead of him and oh did it bother him that it stopped in midair. It bothered him even more than his attack stopped in midair and was returned. Oh did it annoy him futher. As the bits of metal flew back at him he dropped in low to the ground. Ducking under the metal as it flew back at him. He wasnt sure of the level of this mans powers but he knew that it would be trouble for most projectile weapons he used. Stepping in with his right hand, his left now deviod of any weapons save his gauntlet and armgaurds, he would see the swing coming at his head with little trouble. His remedy for this would be to drop even further to the ground, his left hand now a base for his body upon the ground as the swing glanced above his head. Now the weapon was a hammer and following through with any swing their first had to be a base leg. This leg, if moved, could throw an entire body off balance. Now he actually threw his weapon. Not directly to his opponent. As effective as that would be it wouldnt do him any good. He threw it at an angle that would allow it to land to the left of his opponents base foot. Immediately the tail end off the kunai, its handle, caught a blaze with a single strand of fire that extended to his hand. Not even a moment after it had hit the ground and sank into the stone surface did he move this his opponents right and forward to move past his opponents body with flame string in hand. Now slightly to his opponents right and the hammer to his opponents left, his right hand emmited another small burst of fire that made a bee line to his kunai upon the ground. The results of this move would be a fire string/rope that wrapped around the ankle of his opponent. The string itself wasnt just fire. It was a blend of fire and his energy. If it wasnt so his opponent could just walk through it. No, this string wasnt going to break easily and hopefully he caught his opponent.

And anything after this, was just not happening.

Because frankly, well, the simpler solutions are often better.

CRACK

Should've probably just thrown the other kunai into Akechi's chest. Longer reach in the arms for Akechi also implied longer reach in his legs (which he indeed did have). For the kid to drop so far down, first to dodge the returning metal, then to duck under the hammer-strike, he made himself completely vulnerable to a single, fast, and extremely damn powerful soccer kick from Akechi's back leg, his left leg, headed right for the center of the kid's mass.

Thats going to leave one hell of a mark.

"THATTA SHATTA SOME BONE"

11Infer Elade

Crack? More like... chink or thud, but definatly not a crack. The soccer kick would hit the area of its mark since Kaine really had no means of getting out of the way. He'd just have to defend and defend he did. A glowing light emitted from his body a good two inches from his chest as his opponents foot made contact with his aura.

-Aura shield: Unlike his the complete defense his uncles aura provides, his aura provides defense in the given area of concentration. However because of this the aura is much stronger and harder to break than an aura that surrounds ones entire body. Also because of this free range of mobility he has achieved the presence of mind to move it within moments notice and without too much concentration towards it. However, the larger the attack the more concentration needed to hold the aura in place.-

Modifying his movements now, he wouldnt have to run around his opponent to ensare his leg. He just gave it to him. Taking hold of the kicking legs ankle with his right hand, probbaly quite discomforting to him since it was a flame. The flame quickly enveloped around the ankle and pretty much tied his opponent to his fire. It would be after this that he pushed himself back, moving away from his opponent as well as that damn hammer with his flame string held in his hand and constantly extending its lenght. The hammer reminded him too much of last match.

Unfortuanately for the kid, ready with a followup. He didn't have any need too improvise. Like Akechi's previous opponent, the child made the mistake of already falling within the psionic's melee envelope.

Already somewhat conditioned to the heat he's been under recently, Akechi ignored the burning sensation and simply half leaped, half-tackled straight low forward into the kid with a loud cry of "BANZAI!". He just kept using that momentum.

The kid wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time. Not even ducking or sidestepping would save him from the reach of Akechi's limbs now . A perfect setup for a devastating knock-out assault as Akechi'll tackle into the child and converge on him, combat knife reversed grip and stabbing into the collarbone on one side, and claw hammer arching down to smash the boy's shoulder on the other end.

To top it all off, Akechi'll finish it with a headbutt to the face.

13Infer Elade

Bloody hell. Again with some taller dude ontop of him. Did they all want to rape him or something. It was starting to piss him off and Kaine wasnt about to let the man go unpunished. As he fell ontop of him a few things would occur. The knife and the hammer came to a stop as the hands of Kaine lifted up and caught hold of the wrist of each hand, holding them firmly and pushing against them. Kaine was by no means a weak and could hold his own in a power struggle against a bigger man at least for a little while. Now the headbutt was a bit of an annoyance for Kaine wasnt about to use his aura to guard against that. Rather he lifted his head up to meet his opponents head with his own. Yeah it would hurt but it wouldnt hit its normal target and do more damage than what he could handle. Now his this position he was at a bit of a disadvantage but hopefully he could change that quickly. Gathering the abundance of heat towards his body he began to concentrate it, raising the temperature around his body. The temperature was already high in the arena and that small area was merely becoming hotter quickly. He didnt even have to take the time to build the heat. All he had to do was gather it. His opponent would have some serious burns. If he kept things up.

Aura-85%

14Fierach

Akechi was simply, well, not as heavily affected by the heat as he should've been. Being torched in his last match, and now in this one (both from the brat and the arena) had mostly desensitived him.

"So you've got guts. Lets see if you have balls."

Having just headbutted each other, the brat wouldn't be able to see Akechi's next move coming, which was slamming his right knee into the child's gut AND attempting another heatbutt. Never stop moving. He used the kid's own grip on him to pull each other closer to magnify the dual impacts. This had been Akechi's plan all around, to draw his opponent into a prolonged melee exchange. While his opponent was constantly being caught off-guard and forced to rethink his strategies, at the same time, Akechi was still fighting with very little modifications to his original plan, thus giving him the initative. The kunai that threatened to hold back his left leg would fail and be pulled out. It wasn't built to anchor anything in at that angle, especially not an angry 200+ pound bear of a man running on adrenaline.

15Infer Elade

"Oof." He couldnt stop something he couldnt really see. The air left his lungs as yet another strike came into meet his forehead once again. He gritted his teeth to keep enough focus to at least keep up a frontal guard and powered through. He wasnt about to give up to some person who thought just because he was bigger he would have no trouble against him. Now the heat that was being gathered was the prelude to a rather troublesome technique Kaine was building. By gathering the heat to all parts of his body he would be severly cutting back the charge time he needed to lauch off a decently powerful move. The arenas natural heat also helped speed up this process for there was an ample amount by which he could gather up. With a normally uncomfortable amount of heat that normally should have made a normaly person think twice around his body, Kaine would proceed to make his opponent think a third time. For Kaine wasnt truely makeing large adjustments to his plan. Right now his main focus was defending against the man while charging up enough heat for his manuver. Two hundred pounds or not, a solid blow would stop a behemoth. Concentrating the gathered heat now from around his entire body to the palms of his hands, his opponents wrists would be damn close to being set on fire. If he wanted to go to hand to hand then it would be on his terms and right now his guantlets were piping hot.

As it stood Kaine had a second option that he could initiate but at the moment he was at risk of himself nor was it built up to do much of anything.... yet. The flame string was still attached to his opponent and that alone was of some help to Kaine. Just a little bit longer...

So, the kid apparently had pretty good resistance to blows that would've staggered a larger man.

Nothing to worry. Akechi kicked it into high gear as he suddenly spat into the kid's eyes. He'd be needing severe medical treatment after this match to avoid losing the arms, but they would work well enough under sheer force of will for the next few minutes.

"RARGHHH!!!"

If there was one move that Akechi could pull that was definately match-ending at this point, well, he head-butted the kid a third time immediately after he spat into his face.

And he kneed the boy in the crotch. Yeah, not going to see that one coming again. Bony joint would meet what was probably one of the most delicate organs of the body in what was the most amazingly brutal attack Akechi performed in his entire life (except for maybe that time he jammed his flashlight down the throat of a Nazi, but thats another story). The boy had probably never been nut-checked like this before, but he was about to learn how much it hurt. He'd be singin' soprano for a long, long time. Any plans or thoughts he had would likely just fly out the window and be forgotten, replaced with nothing but sheer agony.

Akechi would attempt to wrest his arms back out from the kid's grasp, and he'd boot him in the gut to knock him back and over the the edge of the stone ring.

17Infer Elade

That bitch did not just try to kick him in the nuts. Of all the low down dirty things to attempt to do. Luckly, that wasnt the first kick the man had done and Kaine was expecting another blow from his opponents legs. By this time he had, in a figurative sense, gotten used to the bashing of skulls together despite the annoyance it gave him. At the very least it wasnt hitting him on target. The moment the man attempted to spit into the eyes of Kaine, the exact moment he pursed his lips, he brought his head lower, the wad of wet gunk hitting his forehead moreso than his eyes. Kaine wouldnt even attempt to take the time as to where he could find the moisture to create a wad of liquid in his mouth to spit on him in such temperatures. There he saw it, with one eye open of course, the lifted knee. Oh how dare he.... "Clunk." The knee struck the now visible force of his aura. Oh how Kaine was pissed and what normally happened when a fire user got pissed off.... Well, lets just say it isnt normally pretty. The grip of his left hand tightened around the wrist that it held, its heat growing like crazy while the right hand, despite letting go followed suit.

-Heat Cannon-

It was akward from a standing position to send a punch into the body of a much taller opponent but he wasnt looking to have his punch connect. Almost immediately after letting go with his right hand he thrusted it forward into the chest of his opponent, stepping forward at the same moment. Doing so his opponents arm was now past his body and its target leaving his forearm crashing into his shoulder. Painful? Very since the large man had been putting a good amount of strength into pushing down, but it was better than having a knife in him. Despite its angle the possibly had it would glide by any portion of his body with maybe a rather disturbing scratch of a close call if it managed to slip inside his mythril shirt. His opponents own forward momentum was not his downfall. Of course he didnt have much room to send a full powered punch to his chest cavity specifically closer to the colarbone but there was something there that would be enough... Heat and energy. Even before connecting Kaine released the heat he had gathered into a centered forward burst into the chest of his opponent that was not only scorching hot but filled with enough energy to possible cause some major damage to the mans chest besides burns. Granted wasnt enough to shatter anything in that area but it would be enough to cause a good deal of pain in an important area. Now because Kaine didnt let go his opponent didnt have the ability to stagger back. No, his opponent wanted close range, he would get close range and learn to regret it. With heat that was going to leave some serious burns upon the mans now dried body and energy that had enough power to leave some good brusing. He wondered if his opponent was going to try to move out of his range..... Nope, he was going to force him to submit or at least go for the knock out. There was no water here now to keep his heat from doing the most it could without killing the man. The heat, upon hitting the mans body would disperse around them into the air and be able to instanly be recycled and used again. There was also the problem that Kaines left hand continued to heat up and he doubted that his opponent could keep it in the back of his mind. His left hand lit on fire...

Edit OOC: After a talk with each other, Infer and I both agreed to edit our past posts to get past a misunderstanding. The corrections end with this post of mine here.

Low, down, and dirty?

For a little kid using super-strength, speed, some sort of invisible shield, with the ability to generate heat hot enough to melt metal, on a mere human, that was a lot of horseshit nerve. A psionic human, no doubt, but Akechi had already used half of his energy just sending the molten droplets back at the kid.

Except that the boy-furnace just gave Akechi another boost. As the hammer dropped from his now useless right arm, becoming nearly entirely crippled, it was only well that Akechi had tapped into the berserker underlying his basic brawling abilities, and the cauterizing nature of extreme heat, that it had actually helped him.

Probably would still need extensive surgery.

Quote: Wrote:

> while the right hand, despite letting go followed suit.

And right there.

Stop.

There were a number of problems involved with letting go of a hand.

Especially if that hand carried a knife, and was also violently pressing down on the thing that had been holding it in place. Akechi had been applying force, now with the obstacle gone, his knife-hand slipped further to the inside, and straight into its goal, which was the child's collarbone. Chainmail or not, the links would probably be split apart by all of that force, and it'd go in deep.

However, due to Akechi's instincts automatically forcing him to shift to his right to avoid the incoming punch, as awkward as it was, the knife missed, instead it'd graze upon the boy's armor with a series of metallic sounds. Akechi's reflexes also saved him from the majority of the heat wave from the fist too. He could feel the blast of power as it grazed his neck, and face and his upper left shoulder. A devastating hit, barely dodged. In surprise, his knife-arm curled back as if to guard his neck.

Then he regained his senses back, attempted to forcibly pull out his right hand from the kid's grasp (no matter how tight the boy's grip was, a small hand didn't hold onto thick things very well), and he'd give him a Akechi-style one-two.

A cross with the left to the face (may also slash across the face due to the knife). And then a gut-punch with what was left of his right hand. The small remainder of psionic powers now kicked into full gear, aiding him berserker rush, cutting off pain signals and generally added as a supplement to his body's supply of adrenaline, which were rapidly being used up in the man's offensive.

He'd continue to press the offensive immediately with another knee to the gut, intent on overwhelming the boy with sheer strength and a flurry of blows.

19Infer Elade

The arm was torn from his grasp, forcing him to stumble forward only to have a fist sent into his face. This was not a plesant thing for Kaine and it did hurt like hell. The second punch, however, was guarded by the movement of his aura. Of course it wasnt focused enough to completely nullify the damage but it would be weaker and not knock the wind out of him. Kaine's face now bleeding from where the knife had just managed to leave its mark, he shifted his body, moving himself to his left while gritting his teeth, rotating around the outside of his opponents body as his opponents hand slid off his aura not even a moment after the punch. His left arm waved through the air with its fingers extended as he moved, cutting across the air where his opponents right tricep was.

Heat Blade-

There was a reason Kaine didnt use the heat he had gathered in his left hand. He needed it for his steps in disabling his opponent. As his hand moved quickly through the air, the gathered heat compacted and extended into a blade of heat. This blade wasnt too long due to the fact he didnt have time to extend it to its full lenght, but that didnt matter. It was a foot in length past his extended fingers and due to their closeness it worked just fine if it were to hit its mark. Its mark was to cut through the muscle. There would be no bleeding from the manuver since the heat would instantly stop it but the damage to the muscle would be done and probbaly leave his arm useless despite his beserker state.

Tantrum-

Kaine had come into the match in a foul mood and his opponent wasnt making it any better. Slowly he was slipping into his own "beserker" state. The flame tendril flickered behind his opponent, moving in what seemed to be the churning air. What did it mean.

Aura- 70% Tantrum lvl 1

20Fierach

And in the time it took for Kaine to manifest his blade of pure heat and cut off Akechi's right forearm (also cauterizing it, thus helping numb the pain (slightly) and prevent bleeding out), Akechi would've struck him in the gut with another winding knee.

So Akechi lost an arm. Big deal. It wasn't spurting blood everywhere, it wasn't making the mercenary's blood pressure drop to make him lose conciousness. Plus, that arm had been burnt even more badly, so the loss of the burnt and torched areas actually helped Akechi. Unforseen consequences.

Akechi immediately punched at Kaine's face again with his remaining hand in another cross. And then he suddenly shoved his entire weight forward.

Body check.

He'd probably knock the kid staggering back with his weight and over the edge of the ring.

21Infer Elade

It hurt, that was a given from the expresion upon Kaines face as the knee collided with him followed by the fist. Oh yeah it didnt feel too good... Then it hit him. The mans body rammed into his smaller one, knocking him over the side of the platform they were fighting on. He landed with a thud upon the coals, throwing his feet over his head as his back touched to perform a small sault that brought him back to his feet if his opponent were to follow him. Thankfully the coals were not a ring out, no rather they were going to help him greatly. Reaching into his pouch with both of his hands he finnaly pulled out the last of his kunai surprises, the heat blade reverting back to simply heat that encompased his forearm instead of his hand. Pulling out five kunais in each hand, each with a blue string attached to their ends, his hands began to flame. Through all of this he watched his opponent so that if he were to make a move he would be ready for it. Now, with some distance finnaly acheived, he was in fighting order. Fighting head on with a much taller guy wasnt the best idea he ever had but what could he do now that the damage was done. At least he had managed to remove his opponent of the use of one arm. Holding up his hands in a boxers guard infront of his face with the kunais pointing upwards. He was ready for the next fase if his opponent was daring enough to step down on the coals that were... cooling. Silently and invisibly, the hot coals under Kaines feet were going from a blazing red to a cool black.

Sorry, shorty wouldn't be able to see him. Akechi had backed off a bit, out of sight, after he tackled the kid over the edge, forcibly suppresing the berserker in the brawler. He closed his eyes, and hunched over a bit, obviously exhausted and tired. His remaining hand dropped the knife and unslung his heavy maglite flashlight. His psionics now flickered about him audibly as he poured the last of his reserves into his zone of psychic presence. Knowledge was half the battle, and he knew exactly where the kid was. Boy was preparing something. The child's own undisguised rage was easy to detect, even for a relatively unskilled psionic.

"Alright.. what are you up to" he thought softly to himself. He flexed himself. The match would be decided here.

He stepped back with the assumption that Kaine wouldnt be able to see him. Well in all technical sense he couldnt but he didnt need to. He had left something behind that his opponent had so graciously stepped back into. Kaine wasnt the tallest person but his opponent was quite tall compared to him and being on a higher platform ment he had to take several steps back to go out of his sight. That was the problem. Kaine had left his green burner with the flame tendril attached to it on the top of the fighting platform. His opponent walked right into it. One motion was all it took for the flame tendril, upon Kaines command, to wrap around the leg of his opponent. How did he know where his opponent was? It was quite simple. He "looked" through the flame, he could feel his opponents movements with the flame that was left on the fighting platform. Taking this, he managed to acuratly place his attack. One motion, the time it took for his opponent to forcefully surpress himself, the flame had already taken the time to sucure itself around his leg. "Got him finnaly" he thought to himself as he ran around the arena platform. He threw down a kunai into the hot coals, a string of fire attached to it as means to moderate its heat build up trailing from his hands as he kept moving. Eventually he surrounded the fighting platform equally with the kunais while his string that had now become an orb around his oponnents leg waited for the trigger.

Didn't people tend to think irrationaly while being in a berserker state? Kid was pretty lucid making all those plans and stuff, thought he was slipping into one.

Besides, if he seriously thought Akechi would be meditating while something snaked around his leg he had another thing coming.

"Fucker" he spat to himself slightly. It had coiled around his ankle, but Akechi was smart. He freed himself by pulling his foot out of the boot, leaving the kid with nothing but a decoy, although he wouldn't know that. Filled with sweat, it was easy for the merc to free himself.

25Infer Elade

Normally this was true for people who went into a berserker state but Kaine was a bit different. He didnt automatically drop into a state where his rational thinking was thrown away.

Quote: Wrote:

> Kaine had come into the match in a foul mood and his opponent wasnt making it any better.Slowlyhe was slipping into his own "beserker" state. The flame tendril flickered behind his opponent, moving in what seemed to be the churning air. What did it mean.

If his opponent had kept going Kaine may have reached his full berserker state but luckly for his opponent he didnt. So his opponent had pulled his foot out of the boot. That was smart but there was one problem with that. Kaine wasnt going off of the fact that he simply had the foot. No, he was going off of the vibrations his opponent was setting off with each movement. Surely, as he pulled his foot from the boot there would be a shift of some sort, sweaty or not normally boot were quite tightly tied on. If they werent one would have a hard time keeping themself moving with a flopping shoe.

His opponent moved. Oh how better it would have been for him to stay still and wait for Kaine to move. Maybe things would have went smoother for him if he stayed in place but that was not the reality. As his opponent placed his foot down, wherever he decided to lay it since it was rather akward to balance on one foot while waiting for an opponent, the tendrils lashed out again. At this moment Kaine stopped in place, the forth kunai set, as he focused for a brief moment on his tendril. Chances that his opponent would get caught again were quite high since the thought probbaly was that once attached it could no longer move. Hell, it was fire and fire was controled easily by Kaine. Once again it lashed out to catch his opponents ankle and since he did not move far chances were still quite high. After it took hold he would continue his endeavors.

26Fierach

Well fuck that.

"Fuck you"

Akechi just punted the boot with his other foot, managing to dodge the tendrils as they lashed out again. No way he was getting caught another time.

Already anchored to the boot, well, that threat would be removed as Akechi continued to recover strength.

Whew. Crazy battle so far. But Akechi had things under control.

27Infer Elade

So the boot went flying and Kaine continued to move around the arena, planting his kunais as he went. Rather than putting down all ten, he would now work on only puting down nine, equally distant from one another. His opponent could recover what he liked, Kaine was already feeling quite well from being around the heat and was actually enjoying it. Only three more to go.

28Fierach

Akechi simply tracked the boy's movement, following at a slow pace while making sure the boy couldn't see him.

"God damn its hot" he thought irritatedly, barring the burns, and the cut arm and a bit of a sore forehead, Akechi was actually in pretty good shape. Kicking the ass out of mini-pheonix-superboy.

"'Cmon ya pussy. Get up here and fight" he called out.

Irritating. That man was quite sure of himself and the match wasnt even over yet. Two.... he called out in his head as he continued his movement around the arena. A little more time passed before he placed the final one around the fighting platform. Clasping his hands together, removing them shortly afterwards, he transfered all the tendrils to his right hand while a flame in his left hand still remained present. Jumping up like he had dont at the begining of the match, he caught a hold of the arena edge and pulled himself in, a single kunai left. "Well im here you ass." he said with a bit of a snarl. The flame in his left hand merely sat there, growing larger with each passing moment and much hotter as he held the last kunai in his right hand, moderating the heat so that its effect woulding activate. Walking slowly towards his opponent a smile was upon his face. Two more flames erupted beneath his feet and began to grow like the fist in his left hand. He waited for his opponent.

High ground advantage. Add +10 to strength and agility.

Moving quick, and low, Akechi was already there. He was following, remember? As soon as the boy's head popped up it was met with Akechi's flashlight as he brought it down on the kid's head in some odd version of whack-a-mole.

31Infer Elade

A sigh would have emitted from the childs lips if he had the time to do so as his opponent attempted to hit him in his head. For heavens sake the man was smart but wasnt smart enough to know that if he was holding the damn platform made of stone with flames around his hands. Again he felt the vibrations of heavy footsteps not to mention it would be quite easy to hear the clank of each ackward step his opponent were to take with one boot on one boot off. One problem here though. Even with the vibrations he couldnt tell exactly what his opponent was going to do. So... he used his aura to guard the portion of his body that would rise up first... the head region. Like last match he used it again in full coverage.

-Clink-

That was heard rather than the crack of a flashlight meeting the skull then after the attack was absorbed a sound of glass shattering as the shine of his aura fluttered away like fireflies. Oh well, His opponent, low from the attack with the flashlight still in hand had problem now for as he popped his head up and the flashlight connected, his left hand moved up as he pulled up with right arm. The area in which the left, flaming hand, hovered was his opponents face and he wouldnt even have the time to give voice to the "O" in the "Oh shit" that should have been going through his head before the flames leapt from his hand and into the face of his opponent. From this point he modified his plan to one a bit simplier, using the mass of flames that was in his hand in a net like fashion that would spread to encompass his opponents head with a string attached to it like the last. Being this close, although his opponent probbaly would find a way around a point blank fire burst to the face that spread outwards like a net to ensnare him, there was little chance of him not being caught in the flames that would hold fast to his head. Upon succeeding with this attack he would allow himself to take tight hold of the string in his left hand and use his own wieght by letting go, and dropping to the ground outside the platform. His opponents head would come down and probbaly into the stone ground if he didnt fall over the edge into the hot coals.

"No dice ya little brat"

Akechi just arched back and threw himself backwards to dodge it, though he felt the heat. He seemed to have arched back too far, falling onto his back when he suddenly lashed out with both legs.

A very, low dropkick. Ouch.

"I know your tricks." He had been expecting the shield and a nasty counter. After all, what could've the kid been doing?

33Infer Elade

What goes up must come down. That was a simple principle of physics that remained untouch by most means. At least in this match up. His opponent threw himself backwards, something Kaine expected as the simplest way to dodge even thought he did cut it close. His opponent went to execute a dropkick, something that had to have a forward momentum in order to happen. Well his opponent had dropped back which ment he had to give himself forward momentum since his feet couldnt be directly at the edge of the arena. Kaine would, with his head now above the arena platform with his left hand yanking down upon the string that lauched the fire net into the air, he saw is opponent perparing for the push forward, within a breath to lauch later... Yikes. [Hell you cant do a damn drop kick without the forward momentum]

He released the arena edge, dropping down to the ground while ducking his head in, placing his left hand in a half guard infront of his face to cover where the flat of his opponents feet were to hit. He felt the sweat from the near block as his opponents feet, well one boot and a foot, hit his guard. Landing upon the ground, a bit pushed back he could feel a tug upon the string that was connected to his fire net. What was it caught on?

............................

HOLY MOTHER OF...... the net had fallen upon his opponents feet! Oh how some natural wonders could be so great. The tugging motion of his hand had brought the net downward and his falling had increased its speed. The push from the kick brought it back down at an angle that would force it to catch around the toes and fall qucikly upon his foot. The flames would close around his opponents feet and since one foot was out of its boot and the flames would travel between the two legs, he could escape from it like the last time. Not to mention the tug would pull him off the edge a bit with nothing for his hands to use as support. Now in this position of power, Kaine began to yank upon his flame net that would not only be burning him but now binding him.

34Fierach

Akechi executed a standing dropkick. It didn't have to have forward momentum.

Not to mention that Akechi wasn't aimming at chest level to begin with, so his dropkick, while it would've been fucked up against another person on the same footing as he was, was just perfect against this target's head, low as it was.

All the kid'll see is Akechi falling onto his back, and then, FEET IN HIS FACE.

But I digress right here.

What the hell was the fire-string made out of? Super fly-paper? The kid only managed to get one foot, coincidently, his other boot as Akechi was scrambling to get back up.

As Kaine tugged, Akechi kicked that boot off, and the kid'll find the heavy shoe falling ontop of his face.

35Infer Elade

The string wasnt made out of fly-paper or anything of the sort but there was no need for an explanation. His opponent was scrabbling to his feet while Kaine was a few feet back upon the coals. Once again, since somehow, despite the spread of his net that could cover both. Again, that didnt matter for now it was crunch time. As his opponent pulled his foot from the boot he activated the fire net and string while pushing back and letting go. At that moment the net and flame imploded, creating a vacuum. Now if his opponent was watching he would see his boot compressed, crushed within the core. With his foot so close he doubted that he could escape the power of the vacuum despite it wouldnt last too long. If his foot would caught, by the way couldnt be more than a foot away since it was activated while the boot was falling. If his foot was sucked in it would most likely be broken in many different ways. Kaine would save himself by dropping low a few feet away before dropping low and stabbing the kunai into the ground, pressing his body to the ground to make himself as small and heavy as he could. He would indeed slide forward but the kunai, jabbed deep into the coals, not to mention the coals would feed the mini vacuum and make it less powerful, would keep him safe.

36Fierach

Akechi was scrambling to get up, that meant his feet weren't really close enough to get nabbed together.

As it was, there were atleast a few inches of wall between the sudden flame-net impolsion and Akechi's bare feet.

Lawlz, molten metal, heat blades, vacuums, and living flames with physical form, and Akechi was still kicking the kid's ass. As it was, Kaine's own head was probably closer to the vacuum then he was, and Akechi was both heavier and already close to the floor himself, so he'd get away and to his foot.

"C'mon you brat! Might wanna try to blow up the Earth itself, cause thats the only way you can stop me!" Akechi taunted with a insane chuckle, sweat coming off him in a torrent.

37Infer Elade

Heh, a smile came to Kaine face. As the man began his taunt. Before he finished his comment about blowing up the earth, Kaine ripped his kunai from the ground, throwing it high into the air above the arena platform. The strings attached to it would follow suit. It took a few seconds for the kunai to reach its full height. Enough time for his opponent to finish speaking. Probbaly at the point where his opponent was breathing back in would the fire strings, now surrounding the platform would implode as Kaine now took himself out of the range of his attack by moving further back. [I, for some odd reason, cant find an adequete way to describe the strings but if one were to imagine a puppeter holding the strings to a puppet where the strings are connected to the base around the arena and the place where one may hold to guide the puppet the kunai lauched into the air.]

The effect of this was simple. He was removing the oxygen from the battle platform with one simple attack. Doing so would cause the vacuum affect even it it was for about two seconds. The effect of this on his opponent, most people in that matter, was to pass out from the sudden lost of oxygen. However, his opponent might be able to withstand his attack but not without having a huge case of lightheaded-ness. That would be enough for Kaine. Now the kunais were compressed by the implosion and they would come to use later. The attack would last like the last no more than two to three seconds, but that was enough to be quite effective since his opponent was human.

38Fierach

The kid was either really stupid, or... nah, he's just really stupid. The strings all imploded, fine. They did so in the outter platform, taking all ofthe oxygen away from the burning coals. If the kid could simply "step out of range" of his own assault (being in the ring where they were all taking place to begin with), it stood to reason that Akechi, being pretty closer to the center of the main platform in the center, was just as safe.

Plus, talking, was exhaling, and exhaling was the way to survive in an vacuum enviroment. Akechi would be fine, small case of light-headedness, but psychics were used to that, mind-powers and all.

"Try again brat" Akechi laughed after taking another breathe.

39Infer Elade

There were a few things that didnt make sense but Kaine was over this match. With a burst of fire he left the arena, giving the match to Akechi.
