Premise: With half of the participants remaining, GTB is now halfway through with a few more rounds until its conclusion. Through a series of three rounds, fighters have proved themselves of their prowess and ambition to win thus far, and move one step closer to their destination: the championship. However, as the numbers dwindle down, the competition increases, as the best are narrowed down and each comes with an equal amount of skill. It is going to take experience, intelligence, and even luck at this point to determine who goes on and who goes packing home.

Midus Sonners has also decided to increase the presentation of the fighting arenas that the fighters are going to be taking place in for the duration of the tournament. While keeping with the Colosseum theme, Midus will be including variations of themes to keep things interesting and not as boring as a plain sandy ground with some walls and people watching you. That is why he has sent all the fighters to another venue for their fights. This time, with all fighters on board a plane, the crew flew themselves to the southern coast, a place caused Myamu Beach. Normally a vacation resort, the entire span of the beach has been reserved for the entirety of round four. People will be scattered around each fighting site to watch the fighters go at it in a nightly beach arena. While to them it seems like entertainment, to the fighters this is life or death.

Description: The sun has set, bringing about the darkness of the night over the entirety of the beach. Instead of artificial lighting being used, natural fire has instead become its substitute, bringing about a constant changing hue of orange overlaying the beach and its occupants. The beach spans for a good amount of distance, so each fight will take places in its own "section" which will make it seem separate from the other far away fights.

Each fight takes place in a ring of fire, which is basically a large circle of the sandy beach. Outside this fire, spectators watch, either standing or sitting in chairs, laughing and talking as they enjoy their drinks, food, and conversation. While this may be a competitive tournament, this scene of "entertainment" has placed increasing obligations on the fighters themselves to keep the audience entertained. Unlike the normal arena, the people are closer than before and their boos, cheers, and comments can be heard a lot clearer and louder. This means the fighters will have the psychological element added to the fight, much like the closely watched fights such as wrestling and boxing. Expect a noisy atmosphere.

Field Measurements: The ring of fire has a diameter of 45 yards, which is 135 ft. For those who need a comparison, just look at a football field and see the distance from one touchdown line to the 45 yard line. On the boundary of this circle is a series of lit fires on wood, which are as tall as only one to two feet. Spectators are spaced twenty feet away from this boundary in order to avoid possible injury from the fight.

User Image

Ten Count Boundary: Going outside the ring of fire will result in the starting of the ten count. The flying rule remains intact.

Added Penalty: Harming spectators is a no-no. Any intentional action against them that ends up hurting even one will result in a DQ. This can be either direct (going up to one and hurting them) or indirect (using a very dangerous attack that has a possibility of hurting the spectators). Accidents will be gauged to see whether it counts as an accident or was considered recklessness by the user.

Pip was sore.

He had been deemed not injured enough following his last fight to receive medical attention, and due to that he was not feeling very happy. He had passed through the last round just fine, but had never really given the doctor an answer.

Did Pip need a partner to help make him better?

To fix him?

He didn't know.

Nobody knew.

On the plane Pip had sat quietly, headphones on, staring into the tiny screen ahead of him. He had seen some of the other competitors getting on too, and they hadn't looked the nicest. There were a few that were bigger than him, and one with a sword that was almost as tall as the boy.

Pip hadn't been afraid.

But he had been uncomfortable.

Planes were small places to fit so many big people.

The blond teenager had been rubbing shoulders with a man with equally crazy eyes for the whole trip. Thankfully the fellow hadn't had any weaponry to put in the over-head compartment. Little did Pip know that Omi Barsait hadn't any real uses for physical weapons. Any comments that might have brought the two together were either dampened by the young boy's headphones, or else were never uttered to begin with. The boy with the deep blue eyes and the man with the sharpened teeth wouldn't exchange any words on their trip.

The boy had gotten off the plane with quiet anxiety and had immediately seen what he was up against.

An audience.

Again.

These people seemed a little more relaxed, but they were still standing or sitting there in hopes of seeing blood spill. They had their drinks in their hands; fruity things with whole rain forests sticking out, and they were currently being entertained by a man juggling fire where the fights were going to start.

A Street Performer?!

Pip loved street performers.

He would stand at the edge of the ring of fire, his hands deep in his leather jacket pockets and his eyes mesmerized. Unblinkingly set on the fellow before him.

The teenager wouldn't interrupt the man's performance. After all, the juggler would probably be eating off of whatever he made from this. Instead the youth would simply stand on the edge of the circle in the sand, closer than anybody else was standing by a good twenty feet, and focus his thoughts.

The crowd was already troubling him, but they hadn't risen to the same level of bloodlust that they had before. It seemed that these surroundings had them all more relaxed.

And that was nice.

His mind was calming as much as it ever did, and his energies were beginning to gather in the only way that they could. And he would wait for his opponent to show. Wait for his opponent to find their designated arena.

Wait.

One hand would come out of his jacket pocket, the hand already in its black leather glove, and pop an airline peanut into his mouth. At least those had been provided for the fighters.

Mmmm.

Salty.

3SuperSmashedLink

Silence belittled the character of the Hero of Time. Though many thought Link never spoke because he had nothing to say, that was far from the case. Words could not express the solitude of a Hero. When destiny called and roared for blood, it had claimed his willing and immortal soul. Sitting by his lonesome on the plane with only Navi for company, Link delighted his fairy companion with notes from his Ocarina while absently sifting through the sands of time in his mind. The Hero of Time had nothing but time to think about the past. For the majority of his adventures in Hyrule, Link was but a boy stuck in the body of a young-man. Through trial and tribulation, the boy had become both a man and Hero.

"When peace returns to Hyrule, it will be time for us to say good-bye. Now, go home, Link. Regain your lost time! Home..where you are supposed to be, the way you are supposed to be."

The peace Link had fought for did not include him. The peace was for Hyrule and it's denizens, not the man and Hero trapped in the body of a boy. The Triforce of Courage burned too hot on his hand, the experiences of both his past and future were too much to ignore, and he could not rest easy nor regain his lost time. It was the price he paid to ensure Hyrule's peace, and it was a cross he had to bare. Not wanting to brood, he had decided to leave.

"You are already leaving this land of Hyrule, aren't you? Even though it was only a short time, I feel like I've known you forever. I'll never forget the days we spent together in Hyrule. And I believe in my heart that a day will come when I shall meet you again. Please, take this..I am praying that your journey be a safe one."

She had always meant well, but knew it was Link's destiny to leave Hyrule. She knew that he could never return to the life he was living before his Call of Destiny. And so the man trapped in the body of a boy ventured forth with Royal Treasures, looking for a new lease on life. Years came and went, adventures come and gone, and now the soul of an experienced old man had grown into a body that belonged to both the future and past. Yet somehow, he was stronger. Going through the Lost Woods and ending up in Gaia, his adventures here were making him stronger. The battles were harder, the people more intricate, and his body was changing in ways he could not predict.

Shutting his eyes and clearing his mind, Link played for Navi a song that induced serenity and peace within the Hero of Time..

Song of Healing 'Day to night, night to light, Fall the sands of time. Let the years like the gears Of a clock unwind In your mind walk through time Back to better days. Memories, like a dream, Wash your tears away. Like a star in the sky darkness can't reach you. Light the night, joy is light 'til the new dawn. Cast away your old face Full of gloom and spite. With this mask I ask to borrow your light.'

Shifting his booted feet on the sandy grounds beneath him, Link lifted his chin to regard the night sky above. There was no moon, and the stars were shrouded in darkened clouds, the tall-tale signs of rain. Heaving in a deep breath and enjoying the crisp air, Link deduced a storm was on it's way. However, the conflict between he and Pip would be over long before it arrived to dampen the festivities. Sighing the pent up air out his chest and tilting his head down, Link would remove his arms from inside his cloak and unclasp the brooch around his neck to let the garment fall to the sand. A gust of wind was quick about the task of ferrying the cloak out of the arena and into the sea beyond.

Teeth-a-chatter with coldness and his skin tightening up in defense, Link would raise his arms behind him and grab both sword and shield, arming himself for the battle to come with his opponent. Flourishing the Blade of Evil's bane along his left flank, Link would idly test the weight of his shield on his right arm in preparation for his opponent's acknowledgment that the battle had commenced and his subsequent actions.

4Reach

With the arrival of the fighters the juggler with the fire would vacate the area, running in the sand to get off of the beach-side where blades would be crossed and fists would be thrown. The young mental patient would look around to see what had spooked the entertainment before seeing this... child. He didn't look much younger than Pip, but he did look younger. And almost... innocent.

This couldn't be his opponent.

Pip had fought a girl and beat her, he had fought a behemoth and just barely squeeked by. He had fought a tattooed doctor with a giant scalpel. These were people that he had run into at this tournament. And now he had to fight this kid?

Pip was supposed to be the youngest person in the tournament!

He was supposed to be special!

They had called him Special his whole life!

Pip would step up, dropping his peanuts in a fire as he passed, and sliding his hands back into their jacket pockets. He would pass into the circle of fire and begin walking towards his opponent. So far he had only spoken when spoken to, and now would be no exception. His blond locks would trail down his back with a shake of his head as he got to about twenty feet from the Hero of Time.

There he would stand, his boots sinking down slightly into the sand, while bringing his left hand out of his pocket to place it on his left hip over top of the cylinder that could be seen there. It was sheathed, but most everyone in the audience knew what he was touching.

Their bloodlust grew and Pip could feel it grow.

It sickened him.

But what was worse...

He had almost grown accustomed to them.

And that...

That was the scariest.

5SuperSmashedLink

Link moved. Instead of advancing upon his opponent however, the Hero would instead backtrack towards the torch-lit barrier of the arena with the fierce glimmer of an idea in his eyes. With the tenacity that earned him his three consecutive wins, Link had come up with a strategy to take advantage of his surroundings while Pip cut the distance between them to twenty feet. As far as the Knight could tell, the torches surrounding both he and Pip were the sole sources of light on the beach. The stars were concealed, the moon was likewise nonexistent, and the other barriers of fire were much too far to offer any type of conceivable light. Baring that in mind, it wouldn't take very long to figure out the game he was attempting to play at.

About five feet from the edge, should he be given the chance, Link would go about the motions of preparing a Great Spin. Pivoting his wrist and angling the Master Sword, Link pointed the sword's tip behind him while bending his knees and lifting his shield before him so that it did not interfere. Then, in a furious display of power and grace, he proceeded to go through a powerful three-sixty spin with the Master Sword.

"Syaaaah!!"

Simultaneous with this strategic maneuver would be an auspicious compliment of nature herself in the form of a gust of wind. And just like that, upon completion, almost half of the ring would be reduced to a frightful darkness.

The once jovial crowd went silent with awe and wonder, leaving Link's and Pip's section of the island in both semi-darkness and silence.

6Reach

As Pip found himself facing off with his young counter-part, he would also find the Hero backing away. Backing away from Pip? Was the tall boy so scary?

Pip wasn't scary...

Doctors were scary.

Monsters under the bed were scary.

Those ladies on Halloween with the caramel apples were scary.

Pip was just a boy...

His left hand would touch home on his hip and he would continue stepping forwards, reaching out with his mind to touch on the emotions of the young man before him. Normally he wouldn't have done this, but this crowd seemed quite a bit different from the crowd in the stadium. In the stadium they had all been in seats and raised up above the fighters like in the grand arena.

This seemed much more intimate, and because of that they weren't letting their bloodlust go quiet so crazy as before. Here they were almost...

Respectful of the fighter's struggles.

This would be when the youngest fighter would...

Wait.

What?!

Quote: Wrote:

> "Syaaaah!!"

As this noise erupted Pip's left arm would be coming up to guard his face with his own forearm. If the light were still full then it might be noticed that the young psionic was now gripping something, but in the diminished light it would probably be indistinguishable.

Pip wouldn't see, but the crowd and those watching at home would catch the rush of air fan outwards from the Hero of Time with great alacrity; for it was strong enough to oust fires sixty-five feet away.* This wave of air strong enough to snuff these fires would also be more than strong enough to carry thousands of tiny sand particles away from Link.

Pip hadn't been guarding from these particles in particular, rather he had just been protecting his head.

It was an important body part of a psionic.

The crowd on the other hand would not be quiet so fortunate (wanting to watch the fight and all). Most in the first row immediately behind the young knight would probably suffer a blinding at the hands of such a careless attack as well as a few that would no doubt have sand scarring along any exposed skin, while many others would have to deal with sand floating and sinking in their drinks.

Yuck.

And the Hero of Hyrule?

He would be faced by a sillouette of a six foot three inch tall man, left arm covering his face, and his right hand now removed from his jacket pocket. The right arm would be clenched in a fist at his right side, even though that detail may be hard to discern for Link. After all, a sillouette caused by a dozen or so fires behind the psionic would not be the easiest to read.

Pip himself would notice the lack of light from around his arm as sand flecked against his upraised arm, as well as hear the roars from the crowd that was mostly affected by Link's ill-thought out strategy. They weren't happy, and their mental presence was almost enough to make Pip pull his mind back closed, except for one thing.

Out in the darkness.

There was one mind that he had already tried to connect with.

One that was cold. Not evil. Just cool.

Analytical.

Without emotions.

And through this Pip's energy wells would continue to grow. He wasn't spending his time screwing around. He would be ready when he felt an approach by that mind that seemed separated from the crowd.

The one that was... different.

Ring dimensions: 135 Feet - 5 Feet from the side of the arena = 130 ft. Half = 65 ft. Audience is 25 ft. from Link at the point of the Great Spin, which would explain the audience participation in my post. ]

Judge's Post

The crowd is standing twenty feet away from the boundary. The spin itself will kick up some sand, but it won't do anything "harming." May spray some sand at the front crowd's feet and legs, but nothing serious. Since it said "almost" half of the ring, then Link knows that he won't be able to put out any fires other than the ones within probably five to ten yards of him. Plus, the Great Spin depends entirely on physical exertion. Though of course, he had the physical upgrade, so I can say the range of the spin's effect will extend another five or so yards.

In addition, it's not completely dark, as there are still sources of light around the spectators themselves from other torches not in the ring. This is a vacation resort, after all. Just be careful of what techniques are used here, since blinding sand onto the crowd can still be declared harming them.

What does that fairy kid think he's doing? Ugh, man! There's sand in my schnapps! Ohh, my eyes!

To say Link was embarrassed would have been the grossest of understatements; he was downright ashamed. Peering over his shoulder at the outraged denizens of Gaia behind him, Link would step away in anxiety as their words of discontent reached his elongated ears. He hadn't intended to cause that much of a disturbance, but such was the effect of his heightened sense of physical ability since rounds previous. It would be the first and last time he would underestimate his own abilities for the remainder of his stay within the GTB.

Turning his head away from the audience, Link would once again lay his cerulean optics upon the silhouetted form of Pip. Taking into consideration the ambiance of the fires still lit around them both, it wasn't much of a silhouette, but it was going to take a few moments for Link's eyes to fully adjust. One arm upraised, his other arm beside him, Reach was simply recovering from the effects of the Hero's attack. As far as Link could tell, Pip was unarmed. Bishop, James, and Leinhart - each had weapons they could use to defend themselves, yet this man had none. Strange to say the very least, it did in fact put Link more on guard.

Lifting his should up and setting it before him, the Hero of Time would begin the slow and tedious trek of closing the distance between he and Pip, the Master Sword held at his side in preparation for an attack.

9Reach

Pip was aware of the man's approach, even if he couldn't really see him all that well. The flickering fires being behind Pip and the audience on the other side of Link were doing wonders to keep Pip's vision to a minimum. A flash of steel on the approaching specter's left side, a scuff of booted sole kicking up sand. Pip was aware of these, but he was also connected to Link's mind. He felt both the embarrassment grow in the man, as well as the determination flow through him immediately after. Pip's own cheeks would grow hot from the intimate connection with the Hero.

In order to get a better view of this approaching menace, Pip would begin side-stepping in a circle to his own right. With the fires behind him Pip was an easy target without a view on his opponent. With the fires to his left he would begin to be as hard to see as Link was currently, while also giving himself an angle which could be used to get slightly more light on the Hero of Time and be ready for any nasty slashes from that beast of a sword.

And they wouldn't slow in closing.

Pip's stance would remain the same; Right arm by the hip, left arm raised, but by now the forearm would have dropped to chin level to allow for visual recognition of the boy. Left hand would still by beside his right shoulder.

As they got to action range for that great piece of metal that Link called a sword Pip would act. He had been learning from his earlier battles, and what he was about to manage was something that an opponent had actually done to him.

He would reach down to the sand with a psionic grip and spray several handfuls of sand up towards Link's face. The spray was much more intense than a blinding warranted, but this was because Pip wasn't looking to blind his opponent.

It would be nice if it happened.

But it was unnecessary.

The sand wouldn't take very much energy as it wasn't very heavy, but what he planned to block next could very well drain a lot of his currently stored up powers.

As the sand sprayed Link in the face Pip would be stepping forwards, his right hand at the ready for defensive action against that sword in Link's left while his own left would be descending. In that hand was his twenty six inch steel baton. The momentum of the downwards swing would be enough to make his favorite weapon snap out and bear its destructive force down towards the tender meeting of Link's neck and left shoulder.

Should this surprise attack hit it would not be pleasant for the Hero of Time.

Pip's right hand was at the ready, waiting to for the flash of light reflecting off of Link's blade that said it was being swung.

Pip could look ahead to danger if it was as obvious as that pointy piece of steel.

10SuperSmashedLink

Cool. Analytical. Almost without emotions. Examining Pip studiously as was the Knight's wont, Link would maintain his approach towards the psychic man while subtly going about the task of mirroring the man's movements. Booted feet stepping over one another, the Hero would likewise begin to circle around his opponent, his eyes taking well to the light and shadow that played upon Pip and adjusting appropriately. And while observing the psychic, Link would come to know him better. Not personally; but physically. The length of his legs and the strides there of, the length of his arms and maximum reach, the way the man carried himself and so on and so forth. Everything had to be taken into certain consideration for it was the difference between life and death, win and lose, a bruise and a bludgeoning.

Peering behind the rim of the Hylian Shield, Link would be oblivious to the sand being thrown at his face. Why? The lighting. Though the Hero could see Pip well enough, that did not mean anything for the tiny particles of sand being thrown towards his eyes. The Knight's only save would be in the actions of muscle-memory as Pip began to step forward in a threatening gait. Faced with the choice of meeting Pip head on or backing down, Link chose the later and shuffled back, the shield presented before him taking most of the sand thrown his face's way by both it's positioning and by the angle in which the sand was flung. Needless to say his face was hit; but it did little in the ways of impairing his vision.

Simultaneous with all of this action would be Link watching Pip swing his lanky arm down to inflict bodily harm upon the Hero of Time. In the act of defense while stepping back, Link would raise and position his shield to ward off the incoming blow which would have the inadvertent effect of saving more of his face from the gusting sands. He was oblivious to the steel baton elongating itself in the darkness above him; but he wasn't going to let Pip hit him either way. Taking into consideration the length of Pip's arm, their proximity from one another, and the angle of which Pip is swinging his left arm at the left side of Link's torso, it was probable that anywhere from between Pip's left forearm all the way to the tip of his baton could hit the steel surface of the Hylian Shield upon completion of Pip's attack.

Regardless of what hit the shield, be it flesh or steel, the physically unimposing Pip would do little in the ways of startling the Hero of Time. The thud would be paltry compared to some of the physical blows Link had contested, and as such give the Hero a small boost in confidence. However, Link was in no position to counter-attack seeing as he was shuffle stepping back. Baring that in mind, he would lower his shield after initial contact to appropriately gauge Pip while simultaneously setting his weight on his backward placed left foot.

11Reach

No flash?

No steel blasting towards his exposed right side?

The Hero of Time had shown intelligence in not falling for Pip's trap, though the young psionic's plots rarely ever fell through the way that he hoped. A fractured mind made fractured plans. Pip's left forearm would crash into the rising shield with significantly less force then might be seen in any number of fighters in this tournament, but he was still bigger than the boy before him.

A youth versus a youth, but the mentally unstable of the two was still bigger, and that should be enough to turn that shot into something to add to Link's backward stumble.

The other thing that would be added to Link's reverse shuffle-step would be Link's left foot being pulled to his own right side. Pip had done this same sort of thing to Ryu in Round two to some rather entertaining antics. He would have a psionic grip tighten around the left ankle and it would begin to pull Link's leg behind his right, so should the Hero continue back-pedaling he would trip over himself. Even if he didn't keep back-pedaling his balance would be severely screwed up while Pip was still surging in.

This leg pull would be coupled with Pip's continued push forwards into his ill-lit opponent. His left forearm pushing down on the shield to trap it against Link's shoulder while his brass-knuckled right hand would snap in towards Link's unprotected gut with a vicious upper-cut. Pip had been ready to catch Link's sword with his increased mental reflexes. Now he was using those same energy reserves to add force to his antics. The uppercut would not only be delivered by the big kid down the street, but it would also be backed by a psychic pulse so that should the boy miss his punch, Link would still go for a tumble.

Pip would continue stepping into his opponent, intent on pushing The Hero of Time onto his ass. Pip was going to prove that...

He. Was. Still. Special.

HyruleKnightLink Wrote:

> For future Reference: ..he would lower his shield after initial contact to appropriately gauge Pip while simultaneously setting his weight on his backward placed left foot.

There was a difference between back peddling and shuffle stepping. Back peddling implied that Link was stepping back one foot at a time, while shuffle stepping was more of a fencing footwork. While it would arduous to fully explain the dynamics of rocking the body weight to-and-fro, using the leading foot to push back or lead forward, et cetera et cetera, it would suffice to say simply that the Hylian Knight was pushing upon on his forward right foot to push himself back, resulting in putting space between he and Pip while maintaining relative balance.

However, it wasn't perfect with all things considered. Pip was undeniably taller than Link, which would hard press the Hylian Knight just because his opponent's longer strides and longer reach kept the Hero in the hurt-zone. Shuffle-stepping would not be enough to keep a good distance between the two. It would simply delay the inevitability of Pip dominating Link with sheer mass and velocity. Link saw this, and would change tactics appropriately. If his opponent favored offense, then he would force him onto the defensive. Having previously lowered his shield and set his weight on his backward placed left foot upon completion of his shuffle stepping, Link would go about the task of just that.

While Pip pushed and went for the Hylian Knight's firmly planted left foot with his mind while simultaneously pushing into the Hero's shield and throwing an uppercut into Link's gut, Link himself would go about the motions of countering, knowingly and otherwise.

Twisting his torso to the right, and using his planted left-left foot as a focal point of his considerable strength, Link would throw his right arm out with the full intention of knocking the two-hundred and something pound psychic off his feet with the flat surface of his shield. Not to say the Hero of Time would send the youth flying, but there's was much to be considered in the right arm of a young-man who possessed more than twice the strength of an athletic male. And with his shield previously lowered, it would inadvertently already be in the path of Pip's brutal uppercut. However, that wasn't all Link had in store for Pip.

After the initial burst of power stemming from his foot, into his cocked hip, and into his right arm, Link would shift his body weight forward and lift his left foot off the ground while he raised the Master Sword up to strike the psychic down, said left foot shifting forward with Link's impending slash. Good tactics to be sure, but nothing could prepare anyone for the unexpected. Link might have narrowly avoided the psychic grab of his left ankle by moving it, but nothing could have prepared him for the surprising psychic pulse as Pip's brass-encased fist slammed into the shield. Currently on one foot as the fist connected with a psychic pulse powerful enough to send the hundred and fifty-something pound Knight + Gear off his feet and into a tumble even if it missed, Link would be sent flying back, his arms and legs flailing for balance as he skittered across the sand on one then two feet.

Coming to a stop and quickly peering over the rim of his shield, Link regarded the large dent in the steel-plate and heaved in a deep and dramatic breath, his chin lifting to regard Pip (and whatever condition he was in) once again once he assessed the damage. If it was the shield Link had brought to the tournament, it would have been surely destroyed; but since it's repair with better steel and sturdier wood, it held up quite good to whatever had happened. If only the Hero of Time could say the same. Rolling his shoulder and flexing his arm, Link grimaced with a tinge of pain as the joints of his right elbow and shoulder began to ache. Not debilitating or enough to make him give up; but certainly uncomfortable.

Pip was to Link, for all intents and purposes, much stronger than the Hero of Time could have predicted. To throw him around like that was something Link had only experienced at creatures and monsters twice as imposing as Reach looked. With that in mind, Link's eyebrows knitted together while he set his jaw in grim determination. Delving into his innate fey magics, Link began to pool his mana and prepare for a spell while he began a trek out of the darkness, his shield once more upraised while he held his sword at his side in preparation for attack.

If only he could see Pip a little clearer...

13Reach

Pip would not be aware how close he had come to having that Great Big Sword dropped on top of his purdy head. The boy had been too busy pouring every drop of psychic energy he had into that punch. It was too bad that his psionic lasso to the ankle hadn't worked, and with the shield dropping Pip's left arm would slide out of the way of the strike and leave the tip of his baton touching the shield right before impact, but even with his efforts all seeming to fail at once his blow was still mighty enough to stop his impending doom.

The Master Sword that had been looming over his head, which he hadn't been able to see due to the poo-poo lighting had not come chopping down for the young psionic, and instead had been blown back along with its owner. Pip had previously had a mental connection with his opponent's mind and that hadn't been lost through that maelstrom of psychic energy that had been unleashed. Even though it wouldn't last long after the strike...

He could feel the tinge of surprise coming from his opponent as the damage was surveyed. Pip could alsofeel the twinges in his opponent's stiff arm. He knew that he hadn't done too much damage, and had also used up all of his energy in that strike. His heartbeat would quicken. This man-boy had taken Pip's blow and only had a pained arm to deal with it?

Pip was not just awe-struck. He was intimidated by this younger boy.

His mind was reeling from having unleashed so much energy at once. He had done it before in the tournament, and between that and the explosion of bloodlust from the crowd, he had vomited. This time Pip had not opened up his opponent in a horrific and bloody way, and so the eruption of mean energy and thoughts from the spectators was significantly smaller. Conversely Pip had his mind wide open to these assaults as he had a mental connection with Link. After all, when one opened their front doors to converse with a single entity they were still able to hear the surrounding noises.

And from this analogy the surrounding noises were very not happy thoughts.

They were mean-spirited thoughts.

The crowd seeing the Hero of Time get blown back would erupt in cheers, hoping to see the young boy (who most had money riding on, the odds being in his favor for a reason) bleeding from somewhere, and even though he only had a dented shield, this explosion of evil, mean, bad thoughts in Pip's undefended, spread-legged, open mind did one thing.

The exact same thing as had happened in his first fight.

He would projectile vomit onto the sand in front of himself.

Just as when you touch a hot surface and immediately recoil, as soon as these negative waves had done their damage to the fragile psyche of the youth his mind would close off, simultaneously cutting his connection to The Knight, but also protecting himself from further abuse from the crowd. The boy would straighten from emptying his stomach with the tips of his hair dampened, his boots now shining in the firelight from his own left, and his eyes darting to see how his opponent had reacted to Pip's guttural expulsion.

Should the younger boy be charging to take advantage, Pip would of course do an actual back-pedal in order to gain a couple of seconds to defend.

But if the Hero of Time had only watched as Pip had revealed his breakfast to the world then the psionic would wipe his mouth with the back of his gloved right hand.

And then, then he would nod, a juvenile smile sprouting on his face and pulling his ill-shaven cheeks into dimples.

If only he didn't see Pip as clearly as he did.

Stomach churning in a threat to purge itself of it's contents, the Hero watched with blatant disgust and ever increasing sickness as Pip vomited onto the ground. Stopping and dropping his guard, Link lowered both the Master Sword and his dented shield as he watched, morbidly curious as to what happened to Pip to cause the lanky man to be sickened so. Gazing down with that same horrible curiosity, Link would tremble at the sight of sand sucking up most of the vomit's moisture, leaving naught but whatever Pip had for breakfast and the not-yet digested peanuts from earlier. And if that wasn't enough, Link was downwind.

The Knight's nostrils flared, and he immediately doubled over and dry-heaved before turning his flank to Pip. Right there, in front of everybody, Link's stomach forced some of the contents from his last meal all over the sand. Sickened ever more by the act of vomiting, Link turned his back to Pip and stabbed the Master Sword into the ground before curling his left hand over his abdominal. Immediately fatigued by such an act, it was definitely a time-out for the Hero of Time before he would be able to function properly.

There would be some people in this situation that wouldn't be disgusted and vomiting. The crowd, and the editors. The crowd would begin to laugh as the two adolescents lost their shit, their gastral pyrotechnics taking precedence ahead of their fight. Pip was embarrassed, but would only be more so if he could see the screens that would be showing at home. On there would be images of his first fight, him doing the exact same thing and later his opponent falling in it. That had been gross.

And now the two youngest fighters were getting ready to do it again.

The fire light wasn't great, but it was enough for Pip to pick out the mis-colored sand at both of the boys' feet. The smell let him know that it was still there for sure. Pip almost followed Link's lead when that smell hit him, but he held back and merely started walking away from the moist ground, walking to his left.

He was walking towards both the center of the former ring of fire, and towards the fires.

"Sorry."

He would say, voice rasping as only one can after vomiting without water nearby. He would do his best to pitch his voice so that it could be heard over the jeers of the crowd. He usually didn't initiate communication, but this felt like an appropriate time.

Once he was well away from the puke, about twenty feet into the semi-circle of fire, he would turn to make sure his young opponent had followed. Pip hadn't left to get to a place with more light. No, he had rather left to a place that smelled good again. And he had gone far enough that a change in the winds wouldn't bring too much of that stench after them.

Now.

Now the smile would come, a little piece of peanut brought back from the beyond attached to his vertical incisor. His feet wouldn't be in any fighter's stance, but rather would simply be shoulder-width apart and square to wherever Link was approaching from, if Pip could even see the young lad. His arms would be held at his hips as they seemed to always be.

The interesting part would be his mind. After that explosion of violence he wasn't about to open it up again, and because he had recently emptied his psychic well, it would be uncomfortable to try filling it again (the analogy that comes to mind is eating after having thrown up) but at the same time he would need some help against the giant sword.

He had already taken a direct hit from a polearm. He didn't want to try taking a hit from that beast. But without any mental energy at all, he might have to...

Watching for Link in the flickering orange and red of the campfires, Pip would call out.

"Are you ready to continue?"

16SuperSmashedLink

Sniffling and removing his hand from his stomach, Link would wipe his mouth on the back of his leather glove and twist his torso to reach around and grab the wire-wrapped hilt of the Master Sword. Pip's apology might have made the Hylian Knight feel better about what had transpired, but that didn't say anything about the putrid taste of bile still coating the Hero's tongue. Salivating as was his body's wont, Link would spit as modestly as he could towards the side while dragging his blade along his left flank, his cerulean optics lifting as he turned around to look for Pip. There he was, moving into the light, waiting for the Hero of Time. Any doubts of Pip's condition were laid to rest as the man questioned Link's ability continue. Not wanting to offend Pip by suggesting that perhaps the fight should be ended if the psychic was feeling too ill, Link would also make his way into the more suitable section of the arena before giving Pip an affirmative by dipping his chin down in a nod.

Was Pip hiding a sickness? Did he just vomit uncontrollably ever now and then? Link didn't know nor did he have much of a reason to ask. Pip wanted to continue, and Link was there to oblige him. Lifting the Master Sword up and above his head, Link would flourish the weapon and bring it down in a swordsman's salute before lifting his shield in defense and approaching. As far as giant swords went, it would be an insult to consider the Master Sword as one.

The length of the weapon was too short to be considered a long-sword, while the elongated hilt suggested an almost two-handed weapon. As such, it was classified as a hand-and-a-half sword, or a Bastard Sword. Considering the master craftsmanship of the appropriately named Master Sword, it could not have weighed more than two pounds and a scant few more ounces.

It was a common misconception that swords such as these were 'giant', 'unwieldy', 'beastly' or what-have-you. If the past three rounds were anything to judge by, Link's proficiency with his sword was something to be reckoned with. It moved like a reed in deft hands, and was a nightmare to those who underestimated it. It would be a nightmare for Pip if he continued to regard it as a monster it most certainly wasn't.

Approaching Pip, Link would swipe at the man's legs - left-to-right - in the form of a feint.

17Reach

His younger opponent following him into the light was more than helpful. Pip liked being able to see his buddy. It would be much easier to fight now. Though he still didn't know how he was going to deal with that swinging metal slab... he hadn't ran into an opponent with a sword yet.

And then Pip had a young Knight on the attack without even saying a word.

Rude!

Pip would take a note from his opponent and shuffle backwards to avoid the swing, but with the weapon's longer reach it would still manage a fairly deep gash across the front of his right (lead) leg. It could have been worse, and he had dealt with worse in the past, but that didn't stop his teeth from clenching and a hiss escaping his mouth.

As he was sliding back his right hand would slip into one of the several pouches on his hip, coming out with a small bundle of sewing needles. Anyone watching closely would see that the young lad wasn't actually gripping the needles tightly, but was rather making his own stomach churn once more as he created a small field of his psychokinetic energy and holding the needles aloft in that. As the sword would cut through Pip's jeans his right hand would swing upwards, pushing those needles through the air at Young Link's face.

Even this tiny manipulation of his powers was making the psionics eyes water after that recent expulsion of his, but it was just small enough to let him get by without another episode like previously in the fight.

Barely.

> Approaching Pip, Link would swipe at the man's legs - left-to-right - in the form of a feint.

Link's opponent would realize that the swing was a feint; a ploy; a mockery; a false showing of intent. Never committing to attacking the Psychic, Link had instead wanted to see what Pip would do if he thought he was about to be attacked by opting for a swordsman's feint. To the Knight's observation, Pip chose retreat while simultaneously reaching into the pouch upon his hip. Curiously, Link had anticipated more of a defense, but would not pass up an opportunity to push the heavier and taller of the two back. The advantage was Link's, and he would not give it up. Long before reaching Pip's right-leg, the Master Sword's descent and swipe would be halted simultaneously with Link twisting his wrist to hold the blade out.

Link had feinted upon his approach. When Pip went shuffling back after seeing the feint, Link would go into a full offense. Broadening his stride to effectively bring himself closer to the Psychic, albeit still out of his own arm's reach, Link would knit his eyebrows even tighter as he watched his opponent swing his right arm up from below. Again, courage was not the absence of fear - it was the mastery of it. Knowing full well the terror and havoc Pip could unleash with one of his punches, which his swinging arm appeared to be, Link would not go into a frantic retreat or attempt to dodge, but rather meet it head on. With his shield yet still held out in front of him, Link would decide to courageously contest the strength of this arm which appeared to be coming up to hit him yet again.

Lowering his right arm down quickly and decisively, Link would plant his right foot on the sand before him, twist his torso to the left, and attempt to jam the edge of the Hylian Shield into top/side of Pip's raising arm before it would finish it's gait. If there was contact, wherever shield and flesh met, it was anyone's guess as to where the needles would fly to with all things considered. If there was contact at all, the trajectory of the needles could be screwed up altogether. Some could potentially hit the shield, while others could very well strike the Hero of Time anywhere between his torso, neck, chin, right arm, and the right side of his head. Contact in general could mean a world of hurt for Pip's arm. However, Link was not done. Simultaneous with the Knight's defense would be the beginning moments of his offense, which could be potentially worse. Using the momentum of his twisting-to-left torso, Link would lift his left foot off the sandy ground and swing his left-arm back, performing a spinning back fist. With the Master Sword. Considering their distance from one another and their general heights, the Master Sword could strike anywhere between Pip's left shoulder to the last few ribs in his side.

"Syaaaaah!!"

..Yet more flames upon torches would meet their untimely demise..

A successful feint!

Pip was so fast when running away that Link actually stopped his sword slash!

So Awesome.

The boy's right arm would be caught on the underside of Link's shield and the abruptness of the action would easily set off the same needle-shot as it would have if Pip had gotten it aimed at Link's face. He had a plan and he was carrying through with it, god dammit!

The boy's shot would go off in Link's side as he began his spin. Pip's arm hurt, but thanks to the added protection of his leather jacket he wouldn't have any broken bones. As the Knight spun around for his spinning back fist Pip would be hurriedly changing his momentum up. He had been shuffle-stepping backwards, and even though he was wearing combat boots in sand he still didn't have too much trouble stopping his weight and throwing his shoulders forward.

The result would be that Pip would take the hilt and cross guard of that hand-and-a-half monstrosity of a weapon right to his already bruised left ribs. Why the ribs and not the arm? Because Pip's left arm would be raised up at this point while his right arm was stretching out to get a grip on whatever clothing he could at the base of Link's neck. The hilt of that sword to his side would easily break a rib or two more then were already screwed up from his fight with the doctor, and that would be enough to cause that same hiss to escape his lips as before.

But he would also be in position to bring the butt of his own weapon down on the top of his opponent's skull. Or the temple if he should duck either way. Or the base of the skull if he should try running forward and away from the psionics grip. Pip wasn't afraid of taking damage to give damage back, but having his ribs broken was a little more than bargained for.

Ow.

The Psychic was now almost behind that giant fucking sword, and he didn't really plan on letting his little friend turn around to skewer him with it. He was going to bring the butt end of his baton down as hard as he could as many times as possible with little to no regard for the rivers of pain in his side while he did it.

After all, even though his friend was just a little kid, he had still signed up for this tournament.

It would suck.

But it had to be done.

The smile would be gone from Pip's face by this point.

Thud!

Not a direct hit; but good enough! Though the damage done didn't show in Pip's baring, Link knew without a doubt that the young man was feeling it now. After being struck by the cross-guard of the Master Sword backed by Link's superior physical prowess and the momentum of a spin, no one could be immune to such a blow. This filled the Hero of Time with even more confidence, yet it was short-lived once he realized that the cloth at the nape of his neck had been grabbed. Turning his head and gazing upon Pip, Link would immediately flinch once the metallic butt of his opponent's baton struck the top of his cranium. The wool cap and hair beneath did little in the ways of cushioning the blow, yet years of battle and trauma did impress upon Link the ability to withstand such punishment - to an extent. Didn't mean that the Hylian Knight liked it any.

User Image

His reaction would be typical to say the very least - he needed to protect his head. It was an important body part of a thinking swordsman, after all. Raising his right arm up and driving it down behind his head, Link's defensive measure would also be an offensive one. The Hylian Knight would put a fine steel-plate between the back of his head and Pip's baton, saving his cranium from brutality, while simultaneously driving the edge of the shield yet again into Pip's right arm, probably aiming to hit somewhere close to the wrist or forearm.

While Link did this, his left hand would fidget with the hilt of the Master Sword, the Hero idly shifting it into an underhand grip. If Pip didn't back up, Link would cock his arm, pivot his wrist, and drive the weapon behind him and into whatever flesh was unlucky enough to be in the blade's path.

21Reach

[/Impact]

The vibrations of steel and skull were still running up Pip's arm as he gritted his teeth through the pain that was making its way through his side. It was unpleasant at best. The boy for sure would have to see a doctor after that one.

But he had gotten one back.

That was what mattered.

Though it would seem that The Knight's reflexes were very good as well. No sooner had Pip's baton and arm stopped vibrating then did he have a shield crashing down on his leather-covered forearm again.

This one got damn close to breaking that arm. The angle was awkward enough that it would probably only tear up some skin, but it was more then enough to make him let go.

Let go, but not move backwards.

On Pip's left side was Link's left hand still playing with his sword, cross guard not far from Pip's left hip. And coming down on top of that cross guard as Link was re-settling his grip would be the butt end of Pip's baton. The young Psion liked this attack from up close, and this one wasn't aimed at something that would stun like the head. No, now he was doing something much different.

Now he was trying to break bones too.

Pip's left hand would swing down looking to crush Link's left wrist under the steel butt of his baton.

It was a Mean attack, and he wouldn't have done it but he was in *Pain!*

And as he did this his opponent would be unable to see the blue-eyed youth's right hand, now slipping into the half-open front of his jacket. Was he simply adding support to his wounded left side?

Maybe...

22SuperSmashedLink

(Short post is short - massive headache.)

With the constant flux and change of battle, no plan survived contact with the enemy. With his head turned towards the side to properly gauge Pip, Link would most certainly catch the sight of the Psychic's steel-baton coming down to bludgeon him. While there was no time to avoid the attack entirely with Link still fidgeting with the Master Sword, the Hylian Knight would abandon hope of stabbing Pip and instead opt for damage control with self-preservation becoming first and foremost in his mind. Flinching, Link drew his arm back to himself and effectively moved the small target of his wrist from play, instead taking the full brunt of Pip's assault on the top/side of his forearm. So say it hurt would have been the grossest of understatements. Unwillingly, Link's sword would be dropped as it's owners finger tips sprung open, the shock of the body overpowering the shock of the mind. Dismayed, but otherwise incapable of grabbing the Master Sword again lest he leave himself open, Link would twist his torso to the right while simultaneously moving his right arm over his face and elongating it beside him.

The effect? Another spinning back fist; but with a shield. Though Pip's previous psychic pulse had injured the joints of Link's right shoulder and elbow, the pain would do little in the ways of impairing the striking power Link possessed in both momentum and strength. Should the shield hit, it would mean another world of hurt for the psychic.

23Reach

Ah ha!

The sword fell to the ground and so did Pip's baton right next to it. Pip had used the baton as efficiently as he could for the moment, and his right hand would be sliding out of his jacket with a new weapon. The shield leaving Link's head unprotected once more would allow Pip's left hand to get a grip on the neck-line again while Link began his second spinning back fist.

But now the psionic had his balance back, and was wise to Link's Game (get it?).

His aching left side was reminder enough to what would happen if Pip didn't avoid the Hero of Time's attack, and so what would he do? Pip would side-step to the left, shuffling along while Link was spinning. He would step over the fallen weapons with a grip on Link's collar, trying to stay behind the Hero, and therefore out of effective striking range of that shield.

The older boy would take his opportunity within the first steps of the spin and pull down Link's collar as much as he could in order to get a good view of some exposed flesh. When he had his target in his sights he would bring up his right arm and...

ZAP!!

... set off his taser right in the back of The Hero of Time's neck.

Would this be enough to take down the young Knight? Pip didn't know. This would be the first time that somebody had ever actually taken a shot from this toy in front of him.

Hopefully it wasn't too gruesome.

He had been told that it was a mean, underhanded trick.

But it was getting darker with every swing of the younger man's arms, and Pip was not about to try fighting this guy in pure night.

How would he ever see?

24SuperSmashedLink

Zap!!

Gnashing his teeth together and viciously grunting through them, Link would feel the intimacy of several hundred volts coursing their way through his body; but the Hylian Knight would not be denied. Pip had only delayed the inevitability of being struck down by the surface of the Knight's shield, Link's built up inertia finishing what his spinning back fist had started. With a resounding thud of steel against flesh, Link would hardly register the impact, the literal shock of Pip's weapon desensitizing his body to stimulus save one - pain. Balance was nonexistent while the Hero's body tensed up like a piece of wood, and once his spinning momentum was stopped upon collision with Pip's body, Link would hit the sand with his knees like a sack of potatoes.

Fortunately, this would have the added effect of removing the Taser from his neck, thus stopping the current of electricity flowing through his body. A flood of relief would flood through the Hero of Time once the current stopped, normal bodily functions coming faster than anyone could expect from an average human being shocked. Save the burning sensation in the back of his neck and the general tingly sensation throughout his body, Link was no worse off than before Pip's underhand act of electrocuting him. Having no concept of technology and only inferring on what had happened, Link had deduced that Pip could not only punch with more power than the Hero of Time could have imagined, but could also electrocute his opponents on a whim. Amazing powers. Frightening powers. Powers Link's innate warrior spirit could only revel in the challenge of.

But what of Pip? After witnessing him vomit, Link was still under the impression that the lanky psychic was under the weather. Coupled with the youth taking more damage from Link than dealing in turn, the Hero of Time was feeling more and more disenchanted with the prospect of continuing on with the fight. No one could enjoy withstanding the brutality of being hammered with both sword and shield numerous times while dealing with ailments that were not ring-related. In truth, Link sympathized. To him, the fight had already reached the climax. He wasn't in a dungeon; He wasn't storming the gates of Hyrule Castle; nor was he battling for the lives of an entire town. Link was in the Gaian Tenkaichi Budokai to be close to the evil that lurked behind the scenes; he was here to confront that evil and vanquish it. Pip, though more than a worthy opponent, was not that evil. Pip was a boy. A random fighter. A life that could be disfigured with any stroke of a blade, bash of a shield, and casting of a spell.

For Link, this battle was a test of mettle and skill, and both he and Pip had shown their fair share of both. There was no more sense in continuing save to beat upon each other more, which was senseless unto itself. Link still had a job to finish in the Gaian Tenkaichi Budokai, and he couldn't afford to take an injury that would debilitate him next round lest he meet his true opponent. However, this was battle. If Pip wasn't ready to concede, then Link would have to oblige him and finish it regardless of personal feelings. Having delved into his innate fey magics prior to vomiting, Link entertained the thought of casting Din's Fire, but procrastinated to accurately gauge Pip and his intentions. It could be costly in the long run, but Link could not go against his nature and fight someone who wasn't prepared or able to fight back. Clenching his left hand into a tightly balled fist shortly after hitting the ground, Link would begin raising his left hand into the sky, pausing just long enough to see Pip.

Pip's response would mean the difference between a walk in the dark or a fight in the light.

25Reach

The blow coming on Pip's right was fierce, no doubt about that, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad for the psionic as having a taser discharged on one's spine. Pip had his own momentum to the left from side-stepping, and Link wouldn't be hitting Pip with his full force anymore (being electrocuted usually slowing down a person's muscle control). Just the built up momentum of that great big shield.

Still painful.

Not as painful as it could have and would have been.

Pip had his arm raised up to stab the taser into his opponent's neck, and so when the shorter man spun to hit him with a shield the psionic's shoulder would take most of the impact. That arm was taking a beating, but it was being spread out enough that the arm was still usable.

If barely.

A not so quiet grunt of pain would be let out through Pip's teeth, a single tear making its way down his cheek. He didn't like this. This fight was brutal. Pip was taking a lot of damage without giving back nearly as much and he knew it, but there was one thing that he still had going for him...

His opponent would indeed fall down and the connection between him and the twin prongs at the head of Pip's weapon would be lost briefly. Satisfaction would probably be felt. But Pip would still have a firm grip on Link's collar with his left hand, and so as the young Knight took a knee Pip would still have a way of targeting that same spot for yet another burst of electricity.

Link wouldn't really have too much time to raise up his hand before he was getting fried once more. Pip was going to empty this thing's battery into his opponent so that he wouldn't get beat down anymore. But that wasn't all. No.

Not at all.

See, Pip had taken quite a bit of time to recover his powers. His burst from before and the attack on his mind by the crowd healed over, he was ready to use his real powers once again. The crowd was shouting for more as Pip pressed down the button yet again, and he would give them more. He would finish this fight here and now, before the Knight would have a chance to turn the tables. Pip had a dominant position.

He would not be very happy to lose it, after all that he had gone through to make his dominance apparent.

The young psionic would bring his right knee up towards Link's back ribs, doing as he had before with his punch, in that he would be adding a great push of psychokinetic energy along with the knee. The attack would be aimed for Link's back, somewhere in the vicinity of his back ribs, or his spine if he were really unlucky. Pip would add even more to it by pulling Link into the attack by his collar.

It was brutal. Maybe not as powerful as the punch since Pip didn't have as much energy left to him, but still a very not nice attack, especially since that taser would still be going off on the boy as the attack came in.

Pip just wanted this fight to be over.

He didn't care about being seen as special.

He didn't care about making the fans happy, especially the few that had bet on him.

All that he wanted was to go home, see some nice nurses, and drink a milkshake.

And that would happen as soon as this youngster kneeling before him went down.

And didn't get back up.

26SuperSmashedLink

Furrowing his eyebrows, Link could have sworn his shield would have hit Pip in the side with his attack when considering their height differences, the leveling of Link's shield-arm, and Pip's own upraised right arm. Link could have also sworn that said shield attack would have had the benefit of at least causing Pip, who was in the possession of a few broken ribs, to at least slow-down when being hit with a swinging with the added weight of a shield with heavily built up inertia. Instead, Pip had maintained whatever he was doing to remain directly behind the Hylian Knight after the completion of Link's spinning back-fist - a 180 degree turn - to once again plug the Hero of Time with electricity that wasn't really electrocuting the spine, but rather being discharged into flesh, nerves, and muscle tissue. To make matters even more complicated, Pip was trying to knee a kneeling man in the back while simultaneously grabbing his collar and pulling back while electrocuting him in roughly the same area.

To say Link was tired of being electrocuted would have been an understatement. To say he was tired of not being able to see his opponent would have been the grossest of understatements. Upon the first moment of feeling that sharp zap, Link followed his instincts and lurched forward, throwing his left shoulder into the sand before him while simultaneously casting not Din's Fire; but rather Nayru's Love. The defenseless needed a defense, and in Link's time of need, Nayru would be most helpful. A fine sheen of pink began to coat the Hero of Time's body just as Pip's knee went to collide with the Knight's twisted-torso area. Just as quickly as the shield was formed though, it would shatter upon impact - a glorious testament to the strength of Pip's power.

The impact pushed Link into the sand (the cloth of his tunic would also tear within Pip's hand, thus freeing Link) painfully albeit better off then he would have been without his spell, but things were getting serious now. Link was getting serious. The pain of his wounds forced adrenaline through his veins quicker then ever; The drive to win had been rekindled in his mind and doubled his determination; The Triforce of Courage burned brightly on the top of his hand, Link's desire to win for a righteous cause forcing the Godly bestowed powers within him to strengthen him. Momentous occurrences would be happening within the Hero of Time while Pip, bless his soul, would be dealing with a severely bruised arm, several broken ribs, a bludgeoned shoulder, and the drawbacks of his psychic energies - if any.

All things considered, Link was just starting to warm-up. Afterall, it was only the first five - seven minutes of their battle, wasn't it? Link had enough endurance, stamina, and strength to go full capacity for hours in battle with his keen conditioning while opponent was hardly up to par both because of his lack of discipline and injuries sustained. The psychic would have done well to realize that a few pains in the joints of an arm, light trauma to the head, and a knee drive blunted by a spell were hardly going to slow the Hero of Time down nevermind put him on his last legs. The psychic should have counted his blessings and conceded, but now it was too late. The battle would continued in the darkness with no conceivable end in sight.

In short, Pip would not be going home anytime soon. Not if Link had any say about it, which he most certainly did. Rolling onto his back after hitting the sand with his shoulder, Link would look at his enshrouded opponent, even if it only was for the briefest of moments, while pulling his arms in and getting ready to pull his knees to his chest should Pip decide to go for a mount. If Pip didn't go for a mount, there was a whole list of things Link could do to bring the pain to Pip. As it was, Link would just enjoy the cool sands at his back, eyes ever observant.

[/Ooc: Going to do this IC, but I really hope that it doesn't come off sounding like a NO U. It isn't supposed to be, simply me defending my case, and since it doesn't really matter in terms of the fight...

Here goes.]

The shield striking Pip's shoulder instead of the side was because of the immense size of the shield itself. It wasn't supposed to be a bracer, small enough to balance on one's dick. This thing was made to protect, and made big enough to do that job well. Link would have hoped for Pip to have been slowed down from this strike, but the problem was that Pip's broken ribs were on his other side (left), meaning that though they would be jostled in the strike, they wouldn't be hit directly, and with Pip's burst of adrenaline he would be able to push through in hopes of putting his opponent down.

Finally, Pip's position would remain behind Link because though the Hylian had spun around one hundred degrees to hit Pip with his shield, Pip had been circling as well. He had clockwise momentum (technically the momentum would be leftwards, but with an anchor point on Link's shirt the clockwise comment is close enough) which would only have been added to in getting hit by a great big shield.

Pip was very much behind Link, and so as his knee came in and he tore the top of Link's shirt (the clothes probably lost their durability through that spinning) to expose some burned skin, he would also lose his connection between the Knight and the taser.

It was too bad, really. That would have been an easy way to end the fight.

Now he had to do this the hard way.

Pip wouldn't have the same repercussions as the last time that he had purged himself of psychokinetic energy. Last time his senses had been assaulted by the negative emotions from the crowd that was standing so very close. That had caused the gastral parade before.

This time however, Pip's mind was well guarded against the roaring of the crowd. Even though it was dark, they could tell that Link was on the ground. They were excited, unsure as to whether or not their Hero was down for the count.

But Pip knew. Just because he couldn't read Link's emotions didn't mean that he couldn't tell that there was an active consciousness near him. That had to be his opponent. The one jostling the sand at Pip's feet.

Pip would be very quick in slipping his taser back into his inside jacket pocket, lightly pressing against the ribs there on the left side to see just how bad off he was. A hiss escaping his lips would be evidence that he wasn't impressed. His eyes would remain on the figure before him and a quick thought would come to mind. Their weapons were both on the ground here somewhere. His baton and the Knight's sword.

Even in the shadows there would be enough flickering light reflecting off of the polished metal surfaces to catch sight of the two pieces of metal. The baton would be drawn in a telekinetic grip to Pip's own left hand while the sword would go skidding across the sand to the perimeter of where those fires had been.

The boy was tired, but he wasn't going to lose, and so he would stand there, recovering lost energies and watching his opponent laying there in the sand. His opponent might expect Pip to go for mount, but the boy wouldn't have minded a bit of a breather.

He wasn't in bad shape... but he also wasn't much of a warrior.

He wasn't a Knight.

Chest rising and falling with a dramatic display of breathing, Link would slowly sit forward and pull his legs beneath him, his left hand going about the tedium of dusting himself off while he rose up and to his full yet modest stature. Though Link was fully prepared for the continuation of battle, being overzealous for conflict would only work against him. He was both unarmed, and now aware of another ability of Pip's - telekinesis. Having no prior knowledge of Pip's abilities, Link could only infer upon them if and when he witnessed them. The knowledge that the Master Sword was pushed out of the Hero's reach was more than enough for him to assume that his opponent had the ability to move things with his mind. If such was the case, then things got just a little more complicated. Nothing the Hero of Time could handle; but enough for him to make a change in tactics.

Tactics he would go through with if and when he reached his feet. The act of standing up was a good opportunity to capitalize upon. ____

The act of standing was indeed a good time to capitalize on someone, and after all of the time Pip had spent trying to get Link down it would be foolish to think that the psion wouldn't at least try to capitalize on such an opportunity.

Pip was tired.

Pip was sore.

...

Pip was very sore.

All that he wanted was his milkshake, and to that end he would move in on Link as the younger boy stood up. His breath wasn't coming to him as much as he would like, but his psychic powers were coming back to him as well as ever.

As link was standing up, Pip would plant his right foot forward and swing his baton with all of his might from his crown down to his crotch, the head of the baton on a downward collision course with the head of Link. While he did this he would apply a little bit of psychokinetic down pressure on Link's shield arm.

The goal?

That Link would go to block the attack with his shield, have it not able to come all of the way up to guard his face, and get hit in the same spot by Pip's baton because of this. Pip was counting on Link's surprise a bit, but at the same time he wasn't taking too long with this action. The obvious other choice would be to drop to a knee to roll under the strike, but Pip was counting on Link trusting to his shield. The green capped fighter had shown himself to be more then adept enough in using his defensive weapon, and Pip wouldn't be surprised to see him try to utilize it once more.

Especially since the consequences behind such a roll would be high (Link rolling into Pip's knees and all).

Depending on how much force Link put on that arm would be directly related to how much energy Pip lost in his replenishing energy reserves.

The blond psion would feel a twinge of pain in his left side because he was bringing his arm up in that way, but he hoped that the pain that Link would feel would be much worse.

He hoped.

Because if ever there was a boy that needed a milkshake it was Pip.

The thought barely even made his stomach churn.

Link had expected as much. Be it a battle-high or Pip's natural disposition, such dishonorable brutality was as expected as Link's use of his shield as a defense. However, Link was off-balance and attempting to rise while Pip was unleashing his baton upon him, and thus had to take into consideration the wisdom of using his shield to defend himself. Not only would raising his arm be lagged due to the awkwardness of his positioning; but the Hero of Time also assumed that Pip could call upon a power to send Link several feet back and into the air. If Link caught such a powerful blow on his shield, it would most certainly injure not only his arm from trying to contest it; but his whole body - his back most importantly. Another thing Link had to consider in that brief second of watching that arm coming down to smite him would be the fact that he was weaponless. Well, swordless. If there was one thing Pip should have expected, it was that Link used his shield both offensively and defensively.

Now that the Master Sword was out of his reach, the Hylian Shield strapped to his right arm would be his only true weapon, which he would not use to inadequately defend himself with. All things considered, he couldn't use it offensively either - Pip was out of reach. With not much of a choice as far as options went, Link would do the only thing he could realistically conceive of and properly do in a situation like this - he attempted to tackle Pip *just as the psychic's arm would be coming down ontop of Link's head.. Tucking his chin to his chest, Link would push off of his already bent knees while simultaneously delving once again into his innate fey magics to cast a jump spell on himself. The spell coupled with Link's fine physical condition would mean a monstrous tackle should the Hero of Time's leading left shoulder barrel into Pip's torso.

As for the steel-baton that was aiming to crack his skull open, Pip would over-shoot his diving target moments before being hopefully bashed into. Din Willing, Link wouldn't kill his opponent. _______

[/Ooc: Late Post is Late.]

The jump spell would be what would catch Pip off guard. He had enough distance to cover that Pip hadn't really seen this coming, and yet it did. The psionic had no forewarning, and was already doing something else while being assaulted in his most battered area by far of this match.

Unhappiness would be sure to ensue.

Pip didn't have much time to respond to this swift tackle, and yet he would have enough time to get startled. His physical response would be of course to protect his damaged left side from the rushing bull that was Link. As his hand was still coming down he would shift his stance, going from right foot forward in a fairly square stance to right foot forward in a slim stance by pulling his left shoulder back behind him.

The other thing that he would do would be to bring up his knee. Due to the height differences, Pip's long leg would have no trouble getting in the way of Link's oncoming shoulder or collar bone area. It was going to suck, but it was better then taking more abuse to the ribs.

And with that...

Crack!

... Link would collide with the psionic's raised knee, most assuredly taking them both to the ground as well as having the two colliding bones do bad bad things to one another. A knee wasn't the most durable, but neither was the collar bone. It would be happenstance that Pip had jerked clumsily in the right direction, but what a true warrior would never admit:

Combat is half luck.

Pip would land on his back, his left hand now empty - it being hard to both hold onto and keep track of something that you hold while you get hit by a bull - and his breath would leave his lungs with an accompanying "Whoof."

The boy wasn't in any position to attack from here, but he knew that being on your back in this situation is never good, so with heightened psionic reflexes he would try to stave off this Hero while his body tried to keep up with all of the abuse that he had suffered so far. His body may be broken, but his mind was still as sharp as any other pieces left over after a break. A fractured mind it may be, but still an active, self preserving one.

Pip would do his best to look down at his opponent, his neck not really wanting to track where he told it to, and look to see how Link had reacted to running into Pip's knee instead of his soft, comfortable gut. If Pip's knee had landed as he had hoped then Link's head would probably be around Pip's crotch area.

Uncomfortable.

Especially uncomfortable on Television.

Even more uncomfortable because the tape would have to be shown in thermal imaging, or green night vision. The darkness that surrounded them didn't make for very good recording.

All that the people would see would be one colorful blur's head right near the other colorful blur's...

Uncomfortable.

If Pip could see Link's head in the darkness, then he would use the energy that he had maintained from his play at the shield arm, and send down a psionic blast. This wasn't an uncontrolled wave, or a pulse as he had used earlier in the match.

This would be a physical manifestation of Pip's extended mind, and it would be shaped quite simply (as he couldn't really make complex shapes with his energy was draining on him as it was) as a cylinder, much the same as the hilt of his baton. Not big, but being sent straight down towards Link's head. This attack was also pretty well invisible. Unless Link could see in the magical spectrum he wouldn't see it coming.

In the dark Pip didn't know if Link was looking down towards a zipper or if he had his neck craned up to look Pip in the eyes, but he was fairly certain that another hit to the head like before would at least slow down the Hylian Hero long enough for Pip to slip out of shock and begin actually feeling his leg again.

He knew that he would regret that wish before too long, but for now he wouldn't mind feeling what was happening down there.

He wanted to know what had happened to his leg.

Legs were important, after all.

They were for walking!

Crack!

In a poof of sands and clothing, both Link and Pip would hit the ground in more pain. Pip had to deal with a banged up knee-cap whereas Link had a little more to contend with on his end. The bone of the shoulder itself was as durable as ever, yet the muscles and tendons that formed the rotator cuff would be worse for wear. Upon impact with the rock-hard surface of Pip's knee coupled with the momentum of Link and placement of his shoulder, the Hero of Time's shoulder cuff would be traumatized upon the thud of flesh meeting flesh. Though the adrenaline blunted a great deal of the pain at the time being, it did nothing in the ways of restoring mobility to the now next to useless arm. As far as reaching around, grabbing, or pulling went, Link's most dominant arm would be dead-weight.

With his chin landing somewhere around Pip's naval, Link's cerulean optics would be shut from the sheer shock-and-awe of the impact his shoulder made with Pip's knee; but it wouldn't be too long before he garnered enough know-how and strength to effectively keep up some measure of offense. Maintaining a mount or even going for one in his condition would only prove futile for the Hero, so tucking his right arm into his chest and close to his left shoulder and shifting his body-weight, Link would roll to his own right and into the sand beside both he and Pip. Not only would Link unknowingly dodge a psychic attack aimed for his cranium, but it would also set Pip up for receiving an attack from Link's one and only remaining weapon - his Hylian Shield. With his torso already twisted to the left at the finish of his roll, Link would once again shift his body weight, but towards Pip while simultaneously lifting his shield arm up and bringing it down in suite.

The flat surface of hardened steel aided by both gravity and Link's appropriate shifting of his body weight would come crashing down towards the left side of Pip's torso. Considering the curve of the shield and Link's body somewhat laying 'downwind' from Pip, none could accurately say where the shield would hit if and when it connected save for somewhere around Pip's lower left torso. If Link were a normal person, such a blow wouldn't do much in the ways of damage; but considering the adrenaline in his veins, his superior strength, coupled with his right arm's bruised joints and his general lack of a proper angle, damage would be relative.
