Description: To debut the opening of the new Beach Selena, which sits on the western coast of the GTB plot of land, Midus has decided to host the second round of the tournament in this lovely place. The sun is shining brightly as the warm breeze blows gentle waves along the clear crystal waters. Boats, surfers, and ski boats trail the waters as a large crowd of spectators gather around a single large wooden platform situated out in the middle of the water. This platform will serve as the fighting ground for both fighters as they are transported out here, either via boat or by their own creative method. The platform itself is made of wood, but contains a solid slab of stone underneath it that is four feet tall meant to keep the platform from being destroyed. Though you may think you can destroy rock with your attacks, this stone is extra tough, meaning knocking chunks out of it will be your only capability, so don't expect to punch any holes through it.

Field Measurements: The platform is a square shape, with the distance measured from one side to the other merely 15 yards, which equates to 45 feet. You won't be able to run around this thing as freely as the last arena. The platform is raised a foot above water, so if you fall off, you can still simply climb back on. The platform is rooted underneath with a four pillars of the same stone at each corner, so it will always remain stationary. The pillars are ten feet long each (and quite wide), touching the sandy floor underneath.

Ten Count Boundary: Falling into the water begins the ten count. If the other fighter goes into the water, too, or makes contact with the fighter in count-out in any way, the count resets. This does not apply if both fighters are in the water. Only when a fighter has both feet on the platform does the count stop for them.

The flying rule remains in effect.

Other Penalties: Do not attack spectators or attempt to destroy the platform's rooting underwater. Doing so will result in a DQ.

Fight Ends: On July 9th, at 9 PM Central.

2The Female of the Species

Round 2.

She'd honestly made it. When Hoshiko first entered this tournament, she did it for a multitude of reasons. And no matter what motives she had, or how well she thought she could fight, this was a surprise. The woman was a fresh fighter. New blood that had barely been tested before. Her next match was surely just going to be tougher.

The thought of it got her blood pumping.

Flashing herself an award winning smile in the locker room mirror, the one armed kunoichi would judge herself over. While she'd been taken to the med station after her fight, her ribs were still tender. Thankfully, her leg was as good as new, because she wasn't exactly looking forward to being down to only two good limbs.

With a sigh, the ninja would run her hand through her short cut hair and push away from the sink, heading now for the door. She'd chosen the exact same get up as for her last match, seeing as no one felt on informing the fighter that each fight was going to be at a new locale. Sucks to be her, right?

Hoshiko would yank open the door to the locker room, and power through on her way down the hall. Had to start getting pumped up!

Hoshiko would be blinded by the light of -

"Hothico!" a blubbery voice sputtered. Yeah. That's right.

Amouthbreather.

Was this guy really the ONLY person who had come to see the woman march to her next match? Where were the screaming fans, the giggling girls and posturing boys to greet her with cheering fanfare?

Well, Midus had done the fighters the luxury of not having revealed the fighter's locker rooms to the general populace. Even this small, bulbous bespectacled creature had only found out by coordinating multiple system hacks on Midus's computer with his nerd friends from 4Spam. Who would have thought Midus liked traps?

Yeah, everyone.

And by god, was he the only one who had the sheer gall out of his motley crew to let his pockmarked visage and crooked grin into the sunlight.

Not only that. But he had something in his arms. A shoddily wrapped gift for the woman.

"Hothico! I prepared a speshal weapon for your fight today! Please accept my gift!" He cried. And I mean that literally. He was crying.

4The Female of the Species

"Er...huh?"

Hoshiko would stutter in surprise, as she walked out of the locker room to a most peculiar scene.

Oh god no.

User Image

"A...a present?" She'd stammer out, using her one arm to scratch at the back of her head rather sheepishly. The woman didn't have a clue who this creeper was, or where the hell he came from, but he was most definitely messing with her mindset. And, you know, creeping the poor girl out.

Wait, are those tears?

"You really, uhm, shouldn't have? But I gotta get going. I have someone I need to beat up." She'd reply, peaking around the man like she was in a hurry. Damn, he was sure good at blocking up exits.

5The Vansin

"WAIT!" He screamed, and made sure to sidle in front of her, no matter what direction she moved.

"Wait please, just take this thecret weapon! I read the judges' perthonal notes! I know this will get you exthra points!"

That's right. Extra point. Buy it, Hoshiko. Buy it.

Because in that box was something of master-level craftmanship. It was not some shoddy knitted blouse made by some desperate fanboy. It was a piece of fucking art made by a man at the pinnacle of his goddamn craft.

A piece of equipment that could turn this

INTO THIS

User Imageg]

"Please Hothico! Please don't ignore the thupport of your fanths!" he added, desperate enough to dare.

6The Female of the Species

My fanths?

Holding back the urge to facepalm, hard, Hoshiko would regard the man with a straight face. Ninja training came in handy here, where she wasn't to show any sort of emotion. With a begrudging grunt, the ninja girl would delicately pluck out this secret weapon from it's container.

User Image

"You're....you're serious, aren't you?" She'd ask him, a slender brown eyebrow arched high. It took her a long couple seconds to ponder over his offer, but eventually the girl caved. It wasn't necessarily that he was suggesting it was extra points....no. that was it.

Grabbing firmly to what little material there was, Hoshiko would push away her #1 fan before heading back to the locker room to change. Somewhere, in the back recesses of her head, she was laughing at her own foolishness. "Go get a spot to watch the fight, creeper." She shout over her shoulder before dipping out of sight.

A few minutes later, the kunoichi was strolling across the beach in what was turning out to be a rather uncomfortable getup. Sourly, the woman would cast her green gaze behind her, contemplating turning back and changing again. That wouldn't be an option though. She'd gone too far.

Without having to say a word, the crowd lingering on the beach would part for the bodacious fighter, allowing her a clear path straight to the shoreline. Ever so gingerly, the fighter would wade through the water until it was well up to her waist before setting out to actually start swimming towards the arena.

Now, if you've never seen a one armed woman swim....it's awkward. But it works.

Grunting, Hoshiko would pull her torso up onto the wooden platform. Then, swinging a leg up onto it, the woman would roll the rest of her mass on. Not exactly graceful, but she made do with what she had. Finally, the woman would stand up and glance around her, her only arm covering up what it could.

Did there really have to be so many people?

7The Vansin

User Image

BUT WAIT.

There was a problem! Hoshiko had been so enamored by his beautiful handmade garment! she had forgotten her weapon!

"Oh no!" He cried, and ran back into her locker room. An act of kindness like this would cement her love for him for sure!

A minute and a few sniffed undergarment later...

"Hothicooooo!" He said, running toward the beach.

Each step from his flabby legs send him careening further toward the edge of the beach, the sword in his hand like a javelin! He was going to hurl it toward the now very scantily clad warrior woman!

The distance was great. But so was his love. And when his arm arched back to hurl it over the testy waters of their newfound relationship, the mouthbreather could feel his arm invigorated by her love.

But he still only tossed it about two feet. A wave might push it over to her in about an hour or so.

8Krausse Kreugar

Somewhere in the crowd of people watching, there was someone who had the vantage point to see and hear all of what just went on.

That person was pissing himself/herself laughing.

9Ziggurat Abbey

Joel was there.

Yeah, he wasn't going to be winning any awards for most flashy or poetic entrance, but he was there nonetheless. This time around his opponent was a one-armed woman he'd heard very little about.

"Jeez, furfags and women-fighters, this tournament is more a bus ride through Barton Town." At least his opponent this round wasn't a stupid cat-person he could kick around with ease. Joel stood up, gripping his battleaxe in his right hand, waiting for Hoshiko to get situated on the platform so that the match could begin.

In the back of his mind, the mercenary wondered exactly what kind of bullshit 'suwpar powahs' he would be coming up against this time? Laser eyes? Super strength? Lightning speed? Energy blasts? He'd have to be ready to have it all thrown in his direction.

"Glad you could make it. Don't get too relaxed, though."

10The Female of the Species

"Huh?"

Blinking and peering behind her, Hoshiko would note her superfan running down the beach, every bit the awkward nerd he was. Oh god, he's back. But wait! He had her sword! Grinning now, the fighter would wave her encouragement for his efforts.

All up until he chucked the wakizashi into the water.

-_-

So much for that.

Opponent Wrote:

> "Glad you could make it. Don't get too relaxed, though."

Spinning around to face the man, the one armed warrior would judge her obvious opponent. Judge him, and wonder how the hell she'd missed spotting him in her swim over. Certainly looking the role of tough guy, Joel looked like a much more dangerous opponent than her first round match up. That battle axe of his was especially menacing...

"So....it seems my sword is floating off into the ocean. Mind if we settle this with our fists?" She'd offer with a small smile, hoping to win the man over with her kindness...and the stupid swimwear she was conned into wearing.

Like it'd actually work.

11Ziggurat Abbey

"Sure. If you can get past my axe."

Joel spoke in a gravely, uncaring tone. Honor on the battlefield wasn't his thing, there never had been such a thing as a fair fight in his opinion. The last guy had tried to rip his nuts off, he expected a few kicks and punches to be aimed at that general area again this round, too.

"You shouldn't rely on others to equip you in battle," He said, referring to the miserable waste of flesh that had botched throwing her weapon to her.

Taking a few good strides forward, Joel kicked off the match with a horizontal, right to left swing of his big double bladed battleaxe. The blade that was heading towards her left side now was the one he had blunted to account for the non-lethal terms of each match, while keeping one side razor sharp... just incase.

12The Female of the Species

Something in the man's response hardened Hoshiko. Dissolved whatever sort of self concious thoughts she had, right along with the silliness of the minutes previous to now. She was here to fight, and this man reminded her of that. Turning to face him completely now, Hoshiko would forgo her weapon. No chance to go and try and obtain it, she'd have to make do.

Just like the last fight.

Gritting her teeth, the one armed warrior would spread her feet out as her opponent approached. She wanted a stable posture so as to adapt to however he was going to strike. The woman knew that she'd have to get past his blade as soon as possible, or else she'd be little more than a blood stain on the wooden platform. It was all a matter of the proper reaction.

After a few paces of his charge, Joel was about to be in range to strike. Hoshiko was as prepared for it as she could be, her only arm raised up to protect her body. More than likely, he was going to go for her weak side. Everyone did. So when he made a swing for her left side rib cage, she was one step ahead of him.

She would hop back, narrowly letting the blade swing in front of her belly. Then, hoping that he wouldn't be able to bring the moderately heavy blade back in time, Hoshiko would pushed back forward, towards the man. Trying desperately to close the gap between them so that he wouldn't be able to properly use his weapon before he could bring it back around.

And as for a strike? Her own left knee would be brought up sharply, aimed to swing at the side of the man's hip in something of an arc, from the outside. While similar to her initial strike in the first round, she sure hoped it would have more of an effect than it did for that guy.

If the knee strike would indeed land, Joel would be in for a bit of pain. Hoshiko, as he had rightly guessed, had some sort of supernatural abilities. There was no other way a woman missing a limb would be able to compete in a tournament like this. The primary one, the one being flaunted now, was her supernatural strength. Having been tested when she entered, the woman managed to reach the upper limits that a contestant was allowed. This meant, possibly, bone breaking force in the case of a knee strike.

And through all that, her only arm would be kept in a defensive position, poised to be stuck between her body and that nasty blade of his.

13Ziggurat Abbey

Whoosh~

Swing and a' miss!

Joel's eyes narrowed, not out of concern or worry, but out of focus for where he would immediately be striking next. Interesting fact, most people dodge the first strike - and Joel planned ahead for that. Now as it turned out, both fighters had planned ahead and were both transitioning into the next phases of their attacks!

With his right side perpendicular to the quickly approaching Hoshiko, he snapped out his right foot in a low, fast right side-kicked aimed at her stomach, about the time she got her foot on the ground. Unlike the woman, he did not have super strength, but nevertheless, Joel could kick like a mule, so unless she had mass behind all that strength, she was gonna end up in a lot of pain and on her ass.

As for her own knee strike? It'd pass under the middle part of his inner thigh, rather than painfully striking him in the pelvis possibly breaking something. What she'd find out later, assuming Joel didn't beat her down, is that he had incredible physical durability to go along with his fighting skills.

If Joel managed to knock Hoshiko down on the ground he'd quickly plant his right foot down and grip the handle of his axe with both hands, bringing the blunt edge down for an overhead strike for her right shoulder. He could easily smash right through it like a knife through a paper mache sculpture.

The audience let out a mix of cheers and boo's in Joel's direction. How could the man be so dishonorable as to fight an unarmed warrior with an axe? Well, that was all a part of Joel's personality, the way he went about things. He'd learned that if you give somebody an inch they will take a mile. In this case, his instincts would have served him accurately, like they always hand. In straight up hand to hand combat, he'd have lost simply because he didn't have the physical strength to match up, nor advanced martial arts skills to effectively compensate.

Thank the cruel gods for minor miracles.

14The Female of the Species

Whoosh~

The man's battle axe swept past her belly, and Hoshiko rushed back in for a strike. Trying desperately to close the gap between them so that he wouldn't be able to properly use his weapon before he could bring it back around. She brought up her knee to strike him...

DENIED!

Upon draw close to strike him, the ninja would find out a critical point about her opponent. He could use more than just his axe. Apparently, using the momentum of his axe swing and some light footwork, he had shifted himself to a stance with his right side facing towards the woman. His right leg had then snapped out to hit her in the gut. She'd barely had time to tighten her abs, in an attempt to weaken the blow...for what good it did.

Force from his kick wasn't enough to knock her back, her charging in enough to more or less equalize his force going out. It did cause the woman to hunch forward plenty. And somewhere, in the back of her head, inner-Hoshiko was cursing the man and his stupid axe out. But her mind kept falling back to a certain memory, as if for character development purposes.

Flashback Wrote:

> "But father, what is a warrior without his weapons" > > The child looked up at her father from her position at the side of the ring. No more than 10 years old, she was everybit a tomboy. Short cut hair, pants rather than a dress. She looked fit. There was something to get the blood pumping. There was something to put a smile on her face, to grin through the pain. Her stomach felt like it'd been hit with a bat, as it rightfully should. A blow like that could have very well had her breakfast spraying out all over him. But she was tough. She was a warrior.

Hoshiko's left knee came up, just as she'd first intended it to, but a lot sooner than expected. Her body was still the length of his leg away, and so it did really was brace the man's outstretched limb like an anvil and raise it higher. Her trunk would twist, sliding so that he was facing one way, his leg out to the side, while she faced the other. And in the same quick...fluid.. motion, her only fist would slam down hard on the man's knee, being raised up by her own.

His leg was the anvil to her fist's Hammer.

15Ziggurat Abbey

"It's like kicking a fucking tire!"

The thought raced through Joel's head as his foot planted into the woman's firm abdominal muscles. He narrowed his eyes and focused more intently on her body, trying to see as fast as possible if there was some kind of magic about her. There had to be, he'd never met anybody that could take a kick like that and keep standing besides a damn meta-human, or himself!

Fast as lightning, Hoshiko was already transitioning into the next part of her attack - bouncing off his attack like a platform, he expected no less a pattern to be followed. He already had a counter though, one bred into him by instincts and experience.

"HAH!"

With a snap-like motion, Joel slung his right leg towards his left side, pulling his knee out of the proverbial fire just seconds before her fist impacted, probably hitting herself in the process if she wanted to really damage him. He'd have liked to have done it quicker, so that he could catch her in the middle of an attack, but that was way out of his league with just human reflexes and senses.

There wasn't any time to consider the impossible though, instead, once his foot hit the ground, Joel immediately gripped the handle of his axe with both hands and rotated his hips into a heavy left to right horizontal swing, aiming the blunt end of his axe for the soft tissue underneath the ribcage of Hoshiko's torso.

He doubted it would connect full force (if at all), considering the woman's like of hippity-hoppity dodging, but at least he could set her off balance, because he'd be catching her with her left foot just hitting the ground.

A follow-through axe swing would be his best bet if he could set her off balance! He'd have to save the idea and rewrite his plan if things didn't go like he wanted them, to though.

"She's got some durability powers, my best chance is to attack the soft spots on her body. Places where you can't tense the muscles enough to lessen an impact! Like finding the chink in the armor." These and other subconscious thoughts raced through Joel's mind continuously, processed, but not to the point where he was distracted by them. Only rookies become distracted by idle mental banter.

Joel was nothing of the sort!

16The Female of the Species

To say that kicking Hoshiko's abdominals was like kicking a tire...well, the girl would have taken it as a compliment. More than likely a lie, but a compliment none the less. The girl was by no means impervious to damage, but rather she'd learned rather quickly in childhood to move past it. How else did she lose a limb in a fight, and still manage to win it.

Without warning Joel would manage to snake his leg from her impromptu grasp, seemingly unphased that she'd been trying to lift it to an awkward enough angle to prevent this. The man's timing was spot on as well, for by the time he'd yanked his unprotected limb out of the way of her hurting bomb, Hoshiko was already flinging it downwards. Thrusting her fist only to get nothing but air.

She wasn't disappointed. Quite the contrary, for the ninja was finally getting rid of the last visages of self doubt and worry that had lingered since the locker room fiasco. All that was left was a burning desire to fight. To knock the snot outta some poor fool, and hopefully have it be some sort of challenge. This Joel Havik was proving to be just that challenge.

As said earlier, Hoshiko's right fist would come down on nothing, her left leg lowering down as well. Not fast enough, apparently, because her foe had already recovered and was poised to try and cleave the poor girl in two. Blunted or not, a two handed swing on an axe was going to hurt. The kunoichi's emerald gaze had made well enough note of this, a hint of paniced excitment racing through her grinning expression.

The man's weapon was aimed to strike the girl below her ribcage, in the meaty section just above the hips on her right side. Having a torso made out of tire wasn't going to do much good against that. Still wearing that awful smirk, Hoshiko would do the only thing she could do in a situation like this. She blocked it with her fucking arm.

The clan Ishimaru kekkai genkai. Wrote:

> By channeling one's chakra into their skin, they are capable of triggering a unique cell reformation. While maintaining the same texture and appearance as regular skin, the cell walls harden an incredible amount, while at the same time increasing the strength of their bonds with nearby cells. Basically, creating skin that is like metal.

So while the crowd watched on in horror, sure that the one armed woman was about to become the no armed woman, Hoshiko would avoid most, if not all, of the damage of the man's swing. That isn't to say that she was able to simply absorb the force of the strike, or to magically just regain her footing. No, the swing that had Joel's back in it was enough to send her off of her footing.

The ninja woman could only do her best to turn what was already a sour situation into something a positive. She'd throw herself with the force of the man's swing, using it to vault herself into a shoulder roll to the side and out of immediate harm's way. And by doing so, she also cleared herself of the ring's edge, which had been more than likely not more than a few paces behind her.

She had no doubt that Joel was willing and able to follow her, and so the woman quickly rose back to her feet. Her arm was still stiff, locked in the same position it had been when she blocked the man's strike. And in same mint condition, much to the relief of the spectators. Ready once more, Hoshiko would spend whatever little time she had until his next action slowly circling, trying to place her back to the center of the ring.

And his to the ocean.

17Ziggurat Abbey

"IDIOT!"

Joel yelled it out seconds before his axe impacted the palm of the woman's hand. Even though the blade was blunted so as not to produce immediately lethal wounds, hitting her right dead center on her palm with a full power swing would easily, easily, snap a regular person's hand. The bones were just too sensitive. There was a likely possibility of her ending up with a fractured wrist, too.

WAAHM

The blade struck home, but instead of her bones and flesh giving under the tremendous force, a powerful jolt rumbled up Joel's arms and into his shoulders as his axe was almost instantly stayed at the point of contact. What's more, Hoshiko pushed herself away and into a shoulder roll, looking as though she'd swatted a fly rather than an entire axe blade.

Joel was reasonably annoyed and now his arms ached.

"Well, that was unexpected," He remarked, pulling his axe up towards his chest as though he expected to be energy blasted.

"Guess I'll need to pick this up a bit, seeing as you aren't as easy to break down as other meta's. I'd ask you to surrender right now, but I don't take prisoners." It could have passed for a joke, but the look in Joel's brown eyes showed that he meant every word that he spoke with a cold seriousness. That was just Joel. Life was all about survival, there wasn't a lot of time to joke around about it. And when he did, Joel's jokes were often cruel and dark and cynical.

This challenge reminded him of another man he'd met while doing his time in prison. Guy like a rock, couldn't put a dent in him no matter where you hit, or that big old Orc he'd brought down while staying at the Black Sand. They both had one thing in common, a common weakness. Joel planned to exploit it soon.

"Lets continue."

And with that said, Joel took a couple of strides towards Hoshiko, rotating the axe around ( so that the sharp edge now faced her ) and brought it down in a one-handed (right hand) overhead swing towards her good arm!

19The Female of the Species

Coming out of her tumble, Hoshiko would be pained to realize that...well, she was in pain. While she'd managed to avoid her lower body getting bashed into a different shape, the man's blow wasn't without it's damage. The woman had shifted the entire length of her arm into it's metal state...but hadn't done the same for her shoulder.

All of the force of his strike had then traveled into that joint, assuring that his efforts weren't in vain. Her only saving grace was that the arm had been knocked into her side from the axe's swing, so that some of it had been spread out. If it hadn't she would have been looking at possibly broken bones or a dislocated joint. Hard to put something like that back in place on your own. As it was, her muscles were likely bruised, evident by their painful throbbing.

Rising back to her feet, Hoshiko managed to keep her grin, through some measure of effort. Couldn't let the man seeing he was getting an advantage. And so she hefted her now unshifted arm into a position similar to what it would be in boxing, facing Joel and slowly side-stepping as she'd originally planned.

First the kick, now this. I really need to get going or else this is going to be shameful.

War Frenzy Wrote:

> Well, that was unexpected," He remarked, pulling his axe up towards his chest as though he expected to be energy blasted.

THERE!

While Joel took the moment to speak poised as if to block an unseen attack, Hoshiko would see a chance to lash out with no form or retaliation. Not waiting for him to finish his comment, the woman would surge forward. She was already in close range, one long step was all it would take. Then, her Right leg would be raised up and pistoned forward. Her aim was clear, smash right into that axe he was trying block his chest with.

Sure, he'd be blocking it, but there was still plenty of force that'd be going into it. Enough to knock him back. Knock him off balance. Move him that much closer to the edge. And while some floaties had randomly appeared about 10 feet out to extend the ring out area, it was the best option she had at the moment. And of course, she'd harden from the middle of the thigh down, as something of a safety precaution.

Hoshiko might be the green rookie, but no one could say she wasn't going to try.

Joel knew he had the advantage. Hoshiko knew Joel had the advantage. And there was no way that the warrior was going to yield that for even a second. Even while he spoke he remained on his guard, as evidenced by the guarded position in which he held his axe. Of course, he never got to say much before he was suddenly and ferociously lunged at!

Finally, some action, no matter how desperate it happened to be. Had Hoshiko waited for Joel to strike at her with his overhead swing, she'd have been more successful. At this rate, she was effectively lunging herself at an armed, experienced fighter, that was expecting to be attacked no less.

Using the handle of the axe, Joel took a step off to Hoshiko's right and pushed against the rising knee, circling around the female warrior - effectively parrying the knee strike and letting her momentum carry her forward. This made Hoshiko's bad situation even worse, because now her armed enemy was behind her! If she had watched his earlier fight, she'd know that Joel Havik had a thing for being especially ruthless.

Not missing a beat, Joel body into another two handed axe swing, aiming down towards the woman's right hip bone. That's right, he planned to cleave down into it and cause all sorts of nasty damage. What's more? With him behind her, she wouldn't know where to put up her steel skin to avoid the damage. And even if she did, would Hoshiko be able to withstand the blunt force damage to such a place?

Joel hadn't take a lot of hits during this fight. He knew, the crowd knew it, they were wanting blood. Soon. Joel aimed to deliver as quickly as possible, but he had to set everything up just right. Playing defensively and counter-actively worked towards that means. Normally he'd have gone straight in and fought knuckle to knuckle with her - but that super strength proved too much of a problem for him to want to risk it.

Yet.

The crowd Wrote:

> "KICK HIS HAIRY MONKEY ASS, HOSHIKO!" > > "YEAH, POUND HIM INTO A GREASY SPOT!" > > "SHOW US YOUR TITS!" > > "CUT THAT BITCH INTO CUNT STEAKS JOEL!" > > "MAKE HER BLEED!"

22The Female of the Species

The roar of the crowd was all but drowned out in the intensity of the moment. Hoshiko could hear little more than a dull hum over the rapid beating of her own heart. Her heavy, exuberant breathing worsening the problem. No matter how clever of strategies those surrounding the ring offered, the poor woman just wasn't going to be able to pick up on them.

Besides, she'd come up with one of her own.

Step 1: Kick Joel.

Step 2: Kick Joel harder.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 as necessary.

She'd already tried to initiate the first part of the strategy through her front kick. Unfortunately, the man was able to simply side step it, using the hilt of his weapon to parry her knee away and to the side slightly. The only problem with this, was that he was moving to her right side. The one two combo that the girl had set up in her mind was expecting him to move to her left, but she was quick on her feet. She could improvise.

Joel swept past her kick, circling around rather closely to her right. With his weapon busy holding her leg at bay, there was nothing really stopping him from running smack dab into her now balled up and metal shifted fist. Rather than flanking her by swinging around on her missing limb side, the axe murder had decided to slip right into striking range of her punches. And with his forward burst momentum, she doubted there would be much chance of the man avoiding the haymaker she tossed for his face.

Even swinging the arm cause the woman's once smiling face to slip into a grimace, the impact more than likely enough to cause her to forfeit using the limb for some time, perhaps the whole match. But this was a price that the fighter was willing to pay, if it meant that she'd finally land a blow on the man. Her desire for victory, her proverbial 'warrior spirit', pushed her on.

Hoshiko being able to improvise a punch in the middle of a knee strike, while seemingly clever, was not very thought out. With her body in the air there wasn't any sort of rotation going into the punch to give it any kind of force - she was relying solely on forward momentum and metal to do the damage. While that would hurt on its own, it wouldn't be near the force of a haymaker.

Hoshiko simply didn't have the time or the grounding she needed to make her attack count for anything.

Joel's head bounced to his left when the punch hit him in the cheek, sending a stinging pain all throughout his face. A red mark appeared almost instantly. It wasn't enough to take him out of the game though, kind of like his previous attacks hadn't packed enough force to even put Hoshiko off balance. Both of them seemed to have plenty of durability and endurance.

Hoshiko landed and Joel continued to follow through with his motion, getting behind Hoshiko and swinging his axe at her hip in a downwards fashion.

Joel had to wonder just how experienced his opponent was, given all the mistakes in her planning and execution of attacks. It was like she would flail at the least little thing in an attempt to strike him, either coming up short or falling back onto her powers to make up for her mistakes.

He could only wonder how much longer she could keep it up.

24The Female of the Species

Hoshiko's forward kick, not a knee strike, might not have been thought out, but she'd thought her punch had been. Her arm had already been in the right position to lash out, the woman having held it in a way that a boxer might have. She had momentum from her forward kick, coupled with still pushing off with her other leg. Not to mention actually swinging the arm into a man that was charging past her.

But that's not really important anymore.

The girl's fist connected with his cheek for minimal damage....to him. To Hoshiko, the blow felt like someone had nearly ripped the limb from it's socket. Scorching pain shot from her shoulder in every conceivable direction. What was once a grimace on the poor woman's face turn into something of a snarl, her muscles clenching in agony. And yet, Joel slide past her still. Unphased.

While the kunoichi didn't really know what the man was going to do behind her, it didn't matter. There was only a few options of what she could do in this sort of situation. She continued with her forward momentum, kicking right leg planting down where the man used to be, her back left leg coming up beside it in rapid succession.

Here's where things get tricky.

When her left leg came up, it was on the other side of the right one, meaning that Hoshiko was pivoting. Turning to her left as she moved forward. This is further helped by the wide and hard swing of her now disabled right arm. So when the grizzled tough guy swung his axe, it would swoosh through the mass of air where the ninja's left arm used to be. Funny how that worked out for her.

And while she'd just gotten her footing, Hoshi knew she had to keep the pace up. Had to keep swinging at the guy, or kicking as the case may be, until he started showing signs of weakness. Of fatigue. Whenever the pace got too much for him to keep his perfect focus with. Despite the ragged pain still all too real in her shoulder, the woman would lash out once more.

Surely, he had to still be somewhat unprepared for a sudden counter. Her right foot wasn't really planted anymore, having turned to face the man, and so it was the one she would use to strike, throwing another forward kick at Joel. This time, with a lot less momentum behind it, and aimed towards his right knee

She was inexperienced. She was lashing out seemingly at every chance she could. The woman was raised to never back down. When the going got tough, she was supposed to just try harder. With each disadvantage, her will got stronger. The Ishimaru way.

All of Hoshiko's moves seemed to come at the spur of the moment, Joel didn't have to have perfect focus to keep up with each sloppy attack. He could read her pretty well - he could tell that she was new to this.

Did that mean he planned to take it easy on her? Let her have a few free hits in here and there? No. Absolutely not. Nobody ever gave him anything, he had to work for it, so by default, she was going to have to work hard to make him hurt.

And at this rate he hadn't even broken a sweat.

Getting behind her and taking little damage from her punch were the easy parts, seeing as he moved in to meet the fist before it got up a lot of momentum, but it was landing his axe strike that proved to bit more complicated. Despite the generally thoughtless execution of her attacks, her dodging skills and durability were quite finely tuned.

WHIIFFSH

Hoshiko wouldn't find herself coming out of the axe strike totally unharmed, regardless of how fast she pivoted, Joel was aiming low and at the hip, meaning she was just turning her other side into the blade to be cut. It'd only glide through the top layer of flesh, but a small bit of blood was better than none? If that, assuming her metal skin ability wasn't passive.

In most cases armor was a passive ability of some kind.

Staying his axe after the miss and immediately glancing up to see that she was now facing him, Joel readied himself for another one of her attacks. And so it came, in the form of yet another straight kick. This time it was aimed at his thigh. Or maybe lower? Joel wasn't looking too much, instead bringing his left leg up, pulling his axe back, and thrusting it forwards at her stomach while bringing his left foot back down and to the outside where her foot would have come to rest.

STOMP AXE PUSH

Or something of that sort.

(( Note, it's possible I got lost on what you were trying to do, so if I misread the attack, tell me. ))

26The Female of the Species

If he really wanted his previous swing to land, it would. Disregard that she'd stepped forward in addition to turning around just so that she'd avoid any sort of sneaky attack her opponent would have tossed at her. So Hoshiko now had a thin streak of blood on her left hip from where the blade passed through nothing more than her skin. It would appear that the metal ability was both not passive, and not usable on her torso.

And here is where things got a little crazy. Still recovering from a two handed swing of what she considered a large axe, the man not only lifts up his left(right) leg higher than the knee, he manages to bring the weapon back around and thrust it towards her. Kind of funny how he manages to repeat what was apparently a mistake that she'd just made.

Hoshiko was too close. He was on one foot. It wasn't like like the thrust of the weapon's top would do any serious damage to her now tightened, tire like, abominable muscles. The worst case scenario was that her gut was sore once again, having recovered from the man's sudden snap kick while swinging his axe earlier.

The man's leg came back down finally, so that Hoshiko's right leg was nestled between his two. And while she hated to do it, the man left her no real option. The same strike that'd caused Micheal Noire to back off in the first round was being put back into use.

Falcon kick!

The ninja would simply slam her whole leg upwards as hard as she could possibly manage. Surely this man had balls. Well...maybe not anymore.

Human error is inevitable, and Joel had made his first and only mistake out of the entire five minutes they'd been fighting. Attempting to get his knee out of the way and us his axe to keep her at a distance. The result was that he didn't get the axe up very far and the weight made him stumble forwards right into his opponent as she came in.

All the positions ended up the same.

Hoshiko approached quickly, probably seeing the opportunity that had presented itself. With the battle being close quarters, Joel did something that he rarely did to an opponent he didn't think was worth their salt - he dropped his axe and laid a hand on the large knife strapped the back of his belt line. The moment Hoshi was close enough he drew the blade and made for a fast stab towards her left side, aiming to do some serious damage.

She could continue through with kneeing him in the nuts and receive a horrific stab wound, or cancel her attack and keep up with the dodging pattern she'd so firmly established. It didn't take but a fraction of a moment to drop his blade and put his hand on his knife, he'd done this motion thousands of times over. It was pretty much instinctive when somebody managed to get too close.

If she continued through with kneeing him in the nuts, she'd have 5 inches of thick steel stuck into her side, with Joel leaning into her and keeping it there. (Also trying to catch his stolen breath from just being kicked in the nuts. That'd mean he'd have to take a trip to the infirmary after the match.)

Assuming some hidden power didn't kick in at the last second to save her, Joel would pull the knife out a few seconds later and stumble back. "Bitch done hit me in the balls... Guess I.. shouldn't expect anything lower from a damn meta."

God said "let there be skin", and there was. And it was good.

29The Female of the Species

((Just need clarification on whether it's still a 8 inch blade, or now 5. Also, where is he stabbing along her side, and did he still do the axe thrust?))

30The Female of the Species

A little backtracking would be necessary. Hoshiko's abs would remain unharmed, the man's axe thrust having never happened. Instead, he simply let go of the heavy weapon, letting it either drop to the floor at their feet, or go flying off to the side. It all depends on at point he let go of the weapon. Just as quickly as he let go, however, Joel would have another weapon in his hands.

A eight five ten and a half inch long knife being drawn seemingly instantly. This is the same weapon that he'd make an attempt at her left side with. She couldn't really see what portion of her torso he was aiming for, but Hoshiko didn't need to to be able to tell that it would be bad if it could connect. Now, she was indeed in close quarters. With a fast weapon, at least compared to his last one, that might make things challenging.

So she would back up.

But rather than simply backpedalling, Hoshiko made sure retreated fast, and while inflicting pain. Her right foot that was somewhere between the man's legs would indeed start to come up, just as rapidly as the man tossed away his weapon and went for the other one. But rather than an attempted kick to the groin, she would real it upwards, taking her knee up towards her chest. Even as she did this, Hoshiko would start to lean backwards. THUMP!

This was the sound of the supercharged ninja pushing off of the man's gut with her foot. Pushing off and knocking herself out of range of his thrust/swing. No doubt it'd be enough to knock him back some as well, among whatever damage a super strong kick might do to a man's gut. It was just a damned shame she couldn't move her arm. Even the movements of the rest of her body was enough to cause the searing pain in her shoulder to continue.

31Ziggurat Abbey

Joel couldn't draw his knife instantly, he could draw it quickly though. Therefore it was reasonable that he could have gotten that knife in about half way before being kneed right in the nuts.

Of course that thought became irrelevant once his opponent changed her plan of attack on him. Rather suddenly, he had a foot in his stomach, rather than a knee in the balls - all a change of pace for the better, as she was hitting a much tougher area.

"Shit!"

Here he had prepped himself in the expectancy of being kneed, when his opponent suddenly managed to have her foot in his stomach. His attempt at stabbing her failed, unexpectedly, due to her pushing her foot forwards with superhuman strength and throwing her body into a lean backwards.

With all that wonder woman strength pushing into him, Joel was sent flying backwards through the air. Not one to be shown up though, Joel planned to leave wonder woman a little give. The blade of his knife came down onto the shin of her leg, likely shaving a massive hunk from her shin.

Joel flew off the platform and into the water, landing with a pretty decent splash. All the camera's immediately panned towards the disturbed rippling and bubbling water. A long moment passed and the water stilled, no sign of the warrior. Unlike before, there was no count-out timer.

Finally, Joel's arms surfaced, gripping the edge of the fighting platform and pulling himself up onto it. He had his blade in his mouth, plucking it from his mouth and sheathing it back behind his back, he began walking towards his axe.

"Fuck, I hate getting wet."

32The Female of the Species

Schlick!

The sickening sound of a knife gliding along a person shin, peeling off a strip of skin as it went. Certainly a disgusting one at that, for those that were privileged enough to hear it. Unfortunately enough, Hoshiko wasn't able to react fast enough to completely save herself the pain and damage, having shifted her shin to metal by the time the blade had nearly run it's course.

While Joel went flying into the distance from her kick, damn I'm stronger than I thought, Hoshiko was left standing in a very awkward position, with a strip of skin dangling from her extended leg. Barely attached near the foot, the girl had managed to at least save her ability to stand. Righting herself and taking note that Joel'd managed to crash into the water, Hoshiko would take a moment to look herself over. Blood was pouring out stedily from the long gash on her right leg, accompanied by the light bleeding from her left hip.

Well fuck, she looked like shit.

Grimacing, Hoshiko would lift the strip up off the ground with her left foot, making it so that it was sticking straight out. Then, with a sigh, she shifted the whole shin. Strip and all turned to metal. Effectively, she now had a spike attached to her leg that was a little over a foot long. How about that for turning lemons into lemonade. Looking towards the edge once more, Hoshiko would note the water stilling. No signs of the man immediately resurfacing. Odd...

Fuck if she was going to let him back onto the platform! Clearing her mind of her painful predicament and whatever confusion might still linger in there, the woman would rush towards the edge that Joel had gone over. She had taken her sweet time getting there, though, because even as she ran, the man finally surfaced. Hands gripping the edge firmly before hefting his torso up into sight.

Bingo.

Reaching him, Hoshiko lashed out with her newly equipped leg, aiming to thrust the spike through the man's left arm at the bicep with a kick. She'd finally had an opportunity, and she was going to capitalize on it.

33Ziggurat Abbey

Joel had miscalculated, apparently. He'd figured he had bought himself some time to get back onto the platform, expecting that a massive bleeding wound might slow Hoshiko's movements down a bit. She didn't even seem to be affected by it, having instead turned her damaged limb into a weapon.

Being caught with his pants down, Joel couldn't really do anything but throw himself back into the water, taking a nasty bite from the spike now attached to the chick's shin. It didn't do the full damage, seeing as Joel didn't stick around that long, but it sucked nonetheless.

Joel gave Hoshiko a blank stare, realizing that she had him at a sort of disadvantage. An extraordinary cowardly way to go about things, but hey, he was never one for honor either.

"You look so pathetic," he said coldly, "bruised and bleeding and having to resort to these last stand tactics. I'm going to get you. And there is nothing you can do to stop me."

With that said, he dove back down under the water and would quickly resurface on the far left side of the platform, not taking even half as long this time to yank himself back up. He already figured she would be waiting there for him, attempting to do about it. Something painful and probably even more 'dishonorable', but hey, Joel had never been one for honor either.
