The girl was stronger than he initially thought. This, however, wouldn't alter his tactic. So far, she had managed to land two blows on him. One, a kick to the lower leg. The other, a headbutt to his right cheek (considering he looked away upon having blood and saliva being spat on him). Who knows? If the force behind her headbutt was overly-strengthened like her kick was, it may have fractured his cheek bone. Other than hurt like hell and make Wade a little dizzy for a few seconds, it wouldn't do much else, perhaps expect slightly obscure the vision of his right eye. "Hope they screen everyone for HIV!!"
Throughout the whole thing, Wade would do two things, considering there wasn't much else to do. Firstly, upon not being able to do anything with her head/neck, he wanted to extend the reach of his katana...or rather, increase the amount of areas he could attack. To do this, he simply placed his right hand/arm on her back, as far "south" as possible while also being safe from his own katana. The second was basically twitching of his hand and fingers, which was the sign of him controlling his katana. This would be done after and during the time his katana punctured Cale's lower back. The thing is, he had no idea where it made touched, so he also had no idea what kind of injuries she'd face. There were so many possibilities. He could have cut into the stomach, spleen, liver, kidneys, most likely one of the intestines, gallbladder, etc. You also had muscles, veins, and arteries. There were definitely a lot of options, and it was practically impossible to miss all of them. One thing would be true though, the damaging of only one of these was highly unlikely. Not with the initial stab itself, but with what was to follow. Upon stabbing into Cale's back, Wade caused the blade to slide down towards her feet. Her decision to move forward would only help with this process. Depending on the location of the blade, this could cause the damage to extend down to her legs. Furthermore, if the initial stab was higher on the back (which was more likely due to Wade targeting her upper back), there would be even more damage than if it started lower on her back. Unfortunately, he was limited to only being able to cause the blade to move downwards. If the blade faced the opposite direction, he could have targeted her lungs again, and damaging the heart would have been possible. Additional symptoms could have also began occurring due to blood loss. After all, she was now bleeding out of three different areas; her arm, her back, and, although not that significant, her mouth.
Then she began rocking from side to side, apparently trying to flip Wade over and use him as a human shield against his own attack. Considering the blade was still in her (although it might have exited the southern-most part of her body by now), he was unsure of what this would accomplish. Either way, upon finishing his attack, he knew his time was coming to end. Not in terms of his life or anything, but when it came to manipulating his katana. So, in response, he edged the blade to Cale's left side, moving it as far away as possible.
As for the combatants, position...that would depend on Cale. If she ceased the rocking, Cale would simply be on top of him still, in which case, Wade would proceed to begin punching her in the neck. Depending on which way her face was pointed towards, he would be striking one of three things. The trachea, which would make it difficult to breathe, plus hurt like a bitch. The back of her neck, which wouldn't do much unless he caused an injury. Or the side of the neck, which could cause damage similar to the back of the neck, but would also stun her due to a pressure point called the Brachial Plexus Origin. The result from that could also cause unconsciousness, and could even kill due to damage to the spine, but a mental stun was more common.
On the other hand, if she didn't stop rocking from side to side, Wade would use this momentum to get on top of her, in which case, he would be in the mount position. He would then punch Cale in the trachea a single time, then focus on her face with both fists, hitting the nose, cheek, forehead, mouth...basically everything to be hit on the front portion of her head. All of this was mainly guessing, due to being somewhat blind, although it a lot of the blood and saliva could have easily slide down his mask or flew off when the two flipped. He didn't particularly have defense in mind, and didn't even notice Cale trying to scratch his back.
Throughout all of this, the sound of metal making contact with the arena would be heard, meaning his katana struck the ground, which likely also meant that he could no longer manipulate it.
