CLOCKTOWER

Inside the great clocktower of Durem, combatants fights atop of giant moving gears as time flies by around them.

Terrain

General - Reduced balance due to constant rotating gears

Weapons - None

Natural Element Resource - None

Bonus Effects - None

2Hogosha No Juunikyuu

A tall and feminie figure slowly made her way towards the clock tower, a rough cloth bag slung over her should which rattled and clinked slightly. Her long and shimmering purple hair was tied up in a high pony tail, well out of her face and her deep blue eyes held a determined focus.

When she neared the tower she set the bag down and stretched out, arching her back and holding her arms skywards before relaxing and rolling her shoulders and neck. She then bent down and opened the bag, pulling out one of her arm plates and began to secure it carefully to her right forearm.

Her chest was bound, though not to tight to restrict breathing or movement. Her martial arts robe ruffled slightly in the breeze as she began to secure the second arm plate, checking her hand wraps were still secure before pulling out the first of her two leg plates and sitting down on the dusty floor to put it on over her foot wraps. The second plate was soon in place and the woman took a deep breath before standing, allowing the cloth bag to disappear in a small flurry of sparks.

Juunikyuu stood in a relaxed stance, eyes shut and breathin steady, ignoring the gathering crowd as she waited for her team mates to arrive.

3Lady Sierra

Ra'kar and Lucind were walking closely together, talking in lowered voices. The demoness had just returned from a meeting with Kaminosai... team captain of MK2. The team they were about to face... and was filling in her second in command about the terms they had settled upon. She seemed in good spirits about the whole affair and was genuinely looking forward to the match.

"As drunk as a skunk-- And OH the smell!!"

She scrunches up her nose and waves a hand in front of her face while grinning.

"But there's a sharp and calculating wit behind that facade of filth. This is going to be an interesting match Lu... we'll have to be on our guard."

Her eyes flicker as she makes a gesture at the tower with a tilt of her head.

"I sense our Senshi... Punctual as ever..."

*She quirked a fanged smile at the half-siren, shifting the weight of her gym bag on her shoulder. She had had just enough time to grab her gear and head for the battle stage they had been assigned to. She would suit up there.

Stepping into the entrance and cutting through the excited crowd, Ra'kar ignores questions hurled at her and the blinding flash of cameras. She didn't care about the media hype or the fame. She was here for the fight.

She spots Juunikyuu gearing up and grins*

"Heyla' Juuni! You ready for this? S'gonna be a good'n!!"

((Kami-san and I are going to be RP'ing out a Captain's meeting in the Levi thread when he gets on. But for now... just go ahead as if it's already taken place.))

4Lucind Varhetel

Wrapped in a dark trenchcoat, her hands stuffed in the pockets, Lucind only carried a little messenger bag, its strap going across her chest. Her unruly dark blue strands were tied and tamed with several grips.

Just like Ra'kar the Half-Siren ignored the growing crowd and chuckled about the description her team mate gave of the other captain.

"I'd say we should go and have a drink with him after the match. Or maybe we can bribe him with some bottles of Siren wine before the match starts." Lucind winked, then looked up when the other woman mentioned Juuni already being there.

"'lo, little one. You okay?"

5Hogosha No Juunikyuu

The Senshi opened one eye and gazed over at Ra'kar lazily before she lifted a hand in a small gesture of greeting to her team mates.

Finally, in one smooth exhale she relaxed her posture and began to stretch herself out, checking her movement in the binds and plates. She arched her back once more before completely relaxing, her body and muscles warmed well.

6Lady Sierra

"Aye. I don't know how companionable the rest of his team is... but I think he'd be a fun drinking partner. Maybe a bit of a letch... but he amuses me."

*she chuckled and waves back to Juunikyuu as she sets her bag down and starts strapping on her own armor.

She slips into her leg guards first, jointed at the knees they looked like fancy and elongated shin guards. They encased her shins and calves, and then guarded up the sides of her thighs in a semi-circle of metal, leaving only the pale flesh of her inner legs visible beneath the skirt of her robe. She straps them on securely and slips her steel toed boots back overtop.

Next she slipped on her breast plate, her kimono was so low cut, that one might have thought during a fight she could have 'fallen out of it'. But Ra'kar was as practical as she was sassy. The breastplate was contoured to fit her bust and chest, and slipped into place beneath the neckline of her robes. The beautifully tooled metal was cool against her pale flesh and a shiver ran down her spine as she did up the straps under her arms.

Beneath her kimono, was a two piece set of mail armour. If she needed to call on the rumoured blood sword... the split in the linked dress would make sense.

Her tail aided her by holding the breast piece in place while she slipped her arm guards on under her sleeves and lashed them into place. Plated guards they... as was all her armour... were crafted from light but durable elven metals. They would not slow her or impede her movement. It was like donning a second skin.

She snaps on her metal bracers that guarded the front of her hands and from ran from her wrists to half way up her arm beneath the elbow joint.

As for her tail, 'Adema' as the serpant like appendage was known... was encased in a jointed tail spine. It would protect her from being severed but upgraded her as weapon. True the tail tip was as sharp as any blade... but with the armoured spine, she had serrated spikes along her length and metal barbs that jutted out beneath the tail tip, acting like a metallic flail.

Now for the blades...

The back of her robe was left slightly open as not to hinder her wings, but down her spine she slipped a foot long sheath into place, adjusting it so that it fit comfortably between her shoulder blades and didn't dig or chafe.

Under the skirt of her kimono she had her kunai banded to her thighs, hidden neatly by the careful design of her skirt, there would be no creases or suspicious buldges in the fabric to give away the throwing blades.

In her bracers and the tops of her boots were hidden sheaths. This is were the 4 sisters A'mern went. A set of matching daggers that both Sierra and the demoness Ra'kar treasured.

Tucked into her Obi-sash was 'Little Wind' along with a small supply of about 15 bolts. but like most of her weapons, Ra'kar doubted she'd need it. But it was always nice to have reassurances and alternate options.

The most familliar weight was that of Gogyou No Sennyo. The elven short sword that was resting on her left hip in it's beautifully crafted scabbard. 'Elven Fire' was Ra'kar's main weapon of choice.

There was only one other that she wielded more naturally but she hoped that she would not have to draw on it during this match. That would mean she was in dire circumstances indeed.

Despite being armed to the hilt... Ra'kar moved as gracefully as ever and began her own warm-up routine.

She draws Elven fire and starts working through her sword dancing techniques along with some of her acrobatic's movements... getting a feel for the reduced balance of the ever-shifting gears.*

7Lucind Varhetel

Lucind stifled a yawn. Unlike her team mates she didn't start arming herself in public. All she would or could need for her fight was already in place. She'd just finished her warm up when Ra'kar came to call her. Thus, all she did now was stretching out a little to prevent her muscles from getting cold.

8Lady Sierra

Ra'kar calls over to Juuni and Lucind from where she was warming up

"Make sure you guys stay loosened up during all the matches, you never know if you'll be needed as a striker... and with these time limits you never know when the next round will start!"

*She probably didn't need to be reminding them. Her team was more than competant, and with these two... they were both used to being prepared as they both served on the GSF.

She kept putting herself through her paces, but nothing that would use up her energy or tire her out. She was just keeping limber until their opponents showed up.*

9Kaminosai

(( Okay, sorry to bring this up so late, but i thought i'd drop in and give everyone a heads up. I just had a couple friends in the military unexpectedly drop in tonight, so I don't think I'll be able to start work until a little before 10pm pacific time. Kellindel is also working tonight, so he won't be around until even later. Anonymooo might show up at some point, but I'm not sure what he's up to at the moment. Terribly sorry about this, but if you think you can stay up until I get back we can at least get one match started. smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

10Lady Sierra

((Tries to figure out when that is EST-wise. I'll stay up as long as I can luvey. We still need to discuss our terms ne? ))

(( ^~ *blows a kiss* ![smilies/iconheart.gif](http://s.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/common/smilies/icon_heart.gif)

I think that was what Ed was hoping for when he asked me to form an all Female team. ))

People were already pouring into the spectator stands, some of them were wearing the Femmes Fatales team colours of Black, Red and Gold and holding signs... others were waving banners for team MK2. Some had no preference and just wanted to see some good action. Whatever the reason and whomever they supported... the place was starting to get quite the gathering. Everyone trying to get the best seats to view the match from.

13Kellindel

Kellindel surveyed his surroundings as best one could be expected to while walking upon a rotating section of ground. His eyes turning so far upward his head was forced to tip back as he took in the entirety of curious construction before moving back down to the opposing team and back again. It seemed whoever put together this tournament had wanted to make it a unique experience assuming anyone was going to be watching the fight.

Despite the strange terrain he faired quite well, however. His body swayed only slightly as he stepped from one gear to the next, compensating for the sudden change of direction. As he moved he occassionally scuffed his foot against the metal of the gears, but compensated almost immediately without letting it interrupt his steady stride.

"This should be interesting..." He said as his eyes again swept upward toward the shadowed ceiling of the tower.

"Good luck, Kami." He chuckled, glancing back toward his teammates to both gauge the monks reaction and to see how the three faired navigating over such unfamiliar ground.

14Anonymooo

"Who the hell decided on this?!" snapped a voice a ways behind Kellindel.

The voice, sounding irritated, barely hiding what sounded like fear, belonged to Mooo, who was bigger than both of his teammates--and visibly uncomfortable with where they were fighting. Slightly-hunched, knees bent, standing on the balls of his feet and keeping his hands out a bit to keep his balance, Mooo gingerly crept along the gear, following after Kell.

He didn't carry any weapons--although his huge hands were covered with his trademark black gloves--which had metal bracers on the knuckles and glove-tops. His boots had mesh-metal soles, which made slight scraping noises on the gears as he finally made his way to his two teammates.

"God," he said under his breath. "This ain't gonna be fun," he finished, offering a shaky wave to their teams' opponents. He didn't know who he'd be fighting just yet, but Kami had mentioned something that had only served to further confuse him.

15Lucind Varhetel

Her ears twitched lazily when the members of the other team approached. By this, she'd walked into the clock to scan the fighting place and adjust her senses to those rotating metal discs by watching their movements and performing some lissom moves on them.

The Half-Siren was still wearing her trenchcoat and leaned against a wall.

"Good morning." She nodded at the men and quickly let her gaze wander over them, and her amber eyes rested just a second longer on the one called Kellindel.

((@all: I've never seen such gear system live - so, are there only gears parallel to the ground or also perpendicular ones?))

16Lady Sierra

Ra'kar jumps down off of one of the gears, landing in a crouch. Getting to her feet she saunters over to her vice-captain and grins

"Does he suite your tastes then luv?"

She smiles and returns the wave from the man crouched on the rotating gear. As she watches the team passively. She was waiting for HIM to step forward and make himself known. Then they could get this party started.

((I'd say both Lu. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif ))

17Anonymooo

Ever see The Great Mouse Detective? The end scene where Basil and Ratigan are dueling through Big Ben is what I'm thinking for this match. Like Lady Sierra/Ra'Kar said, there'd be both types of gears, along with a bunch of metal crossbars making a kind of "cage." smilies/icon_3nodding.gif

18Lucind Varhetel

Uhh..it's been ages since a saw that movie..think I was five or so XD

But I'm fine with that description.

Metal crossbars - you mean those 'poles' which actually hold the gears in place, ne?

edit: So, are there actually several 'stories' then?

19Kaminosai

At Kellindel's wish of luck, Kami dropped from where he had been sitting. Up on top of one of the bells. The giant bronze chime swayed gently as he slid off of it, falling an almost frightening distance before landing lightly on his feet. His red robes swirling about as he decended and swishing around his body after landing. He wobbled a bit after his feet touched the ground, but managed to keep himself upright with a couple hops on one foot. His cheeks were partially flushed again now. Somehow between when he and Ra'Kar had met earlier and now he'd gotten himself fairly drunk again. That was certainly going to make this an interesting fight given the environment.

"Thank you Kell, we'll see if I end up needing it. It's nice to see you ladies, are we all prepared?"

He leaned slightly to the side as he spoke. At first it merely looked as though he was tipping his head quizically in reference to his question. However, the fact taht one of his geta sandals was about half an inch off the ground made it clear he was trying to keep himself from toppling over like an idiot. He was also wearing the same grin he wore when Ra'Kar first sat next to him at the bar as he looked at her teammates. Ever the old lech.

20Kaminosai

(( Oh, and while I remember, if everyone could list a rough estimate of when they can be online, it'll help with keeping the fights going quickly.

I personally can be around from roughly 4pm-8pm pacific, and then again from 10pm-5am. I work the graveyard shift so i don't generally get home and asleep until 8am, and that gap of time there is when i get ready and get to work. ))

21[System Delta]

*poof into the sidelines and yells

Go Sierra! ^^ ![smilies/iconbiggrin.gif](http://s.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/common/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

22Lady Sierra

((My time online brackets -->Is VERY tired <-- varies. But I can generally be on afternoon - evening EST and then on until about 2. While I'm at my parents anyways. If I'm at home I can be on whenever))

Ra'kar grinned at the Monk as he seemed to float to the ground

"Oh yes... this should be verry interesting indeed...."

She steps forward and nods curtly.

"We are. My girls know the order we're fighting in and the terms of our match. We're ready to begin whenever you are."

23Lucind Varhetel

It's 11.52am here in Germany -> EST (or what is it called again?lol)

Best time for me to go online is in the evening, 8pm-1am. But then, I'm also rather flexible bout this. Just don't want us to exceed the time limit.

24Anonymooo

((Between 10pm and 5am Pacific Standard Time. I'm usually on late at night, around the same times as Kami and Kell--we're in the same timezone. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif ))

25[System Delta]

not that it would really matter smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif .... but my online time is 24/7/365 ( unless I'm sleeping; playing football, soccer, basketball or just chilling with my crew)

26Kaminosai

His eyelids slipped to damn near closed as he scratched his chin. Taking one last glance at his teammates, he gave them a nod. A quick signal that he was ready to get started and they should find somewhere to stand by in case a striker was needed. Kami then leaned very far forward, touching the ground with his hands while still giving his arms a fair amount of slack. Suddenly he flipped up, arms extended over his head and causing a chorus of pops and cracks to sound from his spine. They were even audible over the sound of the immense clockwork.

"Woooo! That felt good. Okay, ready when you are miss Ra'Kar!"

He stood in a relaxed pose on the largest gear in the center, rotating at a fair clip around and around the room. In fact, he was almost too relaxed. He looked more like he was about to sit down and watch t.v. than fight someone. His arms hung loosely at his sides, hidden entirely by his oversized sleeves.

27Lady Sierra

(( OOC Guys, OOC ^~ And Lu... If I'm EST I know you're not lol. It's 5:53 am here ![smilies/iconcrying.gif](http://s.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/common/smilies/icon_crying.gif) ))

*The demoness's ears twitched as she heard someone cheer Sierra's name. They couldn't be blamed really.. how would they know that Ra'kar was currently in control of their precious elf maiden's body? Still... perhaps she would have to take advantage of the publicity all the teams were getting via the media coverage?

She was just vain enough that she wanted the credit for her wins in HER name. NOT her goody goody soul sister's.*

:: Sweet little Sierra... loved by all. Tch... Maybe I should let them think I'm you... You'd have more enemies around here than friends. ::

30Lady Sierra

The demoness's eyes flashed a luminous, molten gold as she she waved a hand over her shoulder at her teammates to find a safe yet handy place that they could strike from if the situation required it.

"Mmmm... Let it begin then..."

Gripping her short sword loosely in her right hand she studies the monk a moment, taking in his stance. Casual... Too casual. She sheaths her weapon and jumps... with no small show of agility onto the gear's slippery and rotating surface, easily catching her balance.

"LET'S ROLL!!"

*She takes up a ready stance, her feet planted firmly (or as firmly as you could get in this environment) and slightly apart. Bowing gracefully from the waist in a show of respect and good sportsmanship... she takes off, speedily closing the distance between them.

As she nears him, her left arm would guard her torso, ready to raise in a block against a strike aimed for her head... Her right would swing out in fast and tight right hook. It was aimed to score hit on his larynx.. knock the wind out of him. She was running at him, slightly off to the left side. She hoped to knock him off balance... and test his reflexes. She didn't trust that relaxed state... Her eyes watched his muscles carefully, scanning for the first twitch that would give away a hint of his planned movements.*

(( :: 1/17 :: ))

31Kaminosai

(( The counter is a good idea. Do you mind if i utilise it?

(( :: 2/17 :: ))

And here we go...! Hrm.... since we both didn't think to include it, i'm going with the assumption that kami was facing away from the direction the gear was turning. ))

Kami returned her bow and stood again, keeping himself relaxed as she began the attack. A simple but strategic rush. More or less as Kami had expected. Generally with a preliminary rush, people ready their bodies for a quick sprint to save energy for when they reach their opponent. So Kami reacted to an expected attack in an unexpected way. He ran.

Twisting and whipping his body around quickly he began to run the opposite direction from Ra'Kar along the gear. Only a few paces, just enough to drag out her sprint longer than she had intended and throw off her pace. He didn't even try to outrun her, and instead waited till she got close. Once within range, he ducked into a low sweep with his left leg, aimed for her ankles. A proper sweep was always a far more viable option when facing away from ones opponent. His left arm was raised above his forehead to react to any blows she might try to respond with, which also meant his long sleeve was being flung upwards towards her face. Meanwhile his right continued to be held loosely to the side for balance.

32Lucind Varhetel

((But it's 17 post per fighter...))

33Anonymooo

Finally getting comfortable on their still "rest" gear, which only moved for manual clock adjustments, Mooo folded his arms, cupping his chin with one hand as he carefully watched the first exchange. "She's charging in with a hook... it's a smart move, better than launching a straight, or even a jab, which is just like giving your opponent your arm. But Kami's pretty resilient--with what she'd need to fully utilize that hook, she'd have to twist her hips and put a fair amount of momentum into it. It's a gutsy move... unless--!"

Sure enough, Kami reacted--but not quite in the way Mooo expected. His eyes widened, his head craning in a bit more as he seemed to be thinking the situation over just as if he were in the match himself.

"What the hell--why's he run--ohhhh. Smart," Mooo chuckled, grinning broadly as he wished he'd have thought of that. "She has range that he doesn't have, though," he noted to Kell. "Kami can only keep playing with her for so long."

34Kaminosai

(( I count taking a ready stance as my first post. I wouldn't argue, as it gives your team the final post. smilies/icon_xd.gif ))

35Hogosha No Juunikyuu

((I am going to assume there is a "sidelines" to watch from here, generally at the outskirts of all the cogs and bells and poles and such eh? smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif))

Juunikyuu watched the other team appear almost lazily from the sidelines, rolling her shoulders and then her wrists, before doing the same to her hips and ankles. She gave a brief gesture of welcome with a wave of her hand and nodded briefly to all three of the opposing team.

She picked out Moo instantly, the larger and burlier member of the team. Her icy gaze fell upon him as she examined him carefully, taking in his posture and body language. He seemed nervous. And unbalanced. The Senshi grinned and licked her lips before summoning a bottle of water to her right hand which she took a swig off before rolling her shoulders again.

The twin scars on her shoulder blades stretched unnaturally. They ached, longing to free what they held within the Senshi but there was no need for that yet.

Her ears and tail twitched at Ra'kar and Kami's interaction and she finally tore her gaze from Moo to watch the beginning of what looked to be an interesting spar.

36Kellindel

"Morning." Kellindel returned casually to the half-siren while the fighters prepared themselves. Rather than enter into conversation however, he followed Mooo to their "striking zone" gear as it seemed that things were going to get moving rather quickly.

He crouched low, resting on the balls of his feet so that he could jump in quickly while Mooo took stock of the battle.

"Strange that she isn't using her weapons though. Has plenty of them. Could have easily kept Kami from doing something like that if she'd distracted him with one of her knives first. Maybe she doesn't want to have an unfair advantage or is trying to start simple." He responded while watching Kaminosai's almost whacky form of defense.

"I really hope he is taking this seriously." As he spoke he glanced downward at the considerable fall below them. One wrong move by anyone and things could get nasty.

37Lady Sierra

((Feck. My browser with my half-typed post closed ><;; What I was saying... is that IS his 2nd post Lu. And Sure Kami-san. Go for it ^^ ))

(( :: 2/17 :: ))

*Ra'kar had taken off across the large gear on the radius, cutting directly across it to reach him with the least amount of effort. As he took off in a counter-clockwise run... away from her... she compensated easily. She pivoted on her right foot, like turning on a dime and before she was even at her halfway mark, so the distance didn't change at all.

As he ducks into the sweep, extending his leg she decides to pull off a tricky counter. Her dancing skills were about to come into play big time.

She had already retracted her fist into guarded safety. But now she drops into her own sweep. Mirroring Kami with the opposite leg. But instead of keeping her foot low to the ground, Her leg would whirl around to catch him on an upwards diagonal in the shoulder and hopefully knock him sideways. If you've ever seen a gymnast on a pommel horse... she was swinging her leg around as if she was trying to swing over one. Her other leg was tucked into a crouch as she pivoted and balanced on her hands and the ball of her foot. There was enough force behind this metal encased kick to dislocate if not fracture the bones of Kami's arm...

To make it harder for him though... She would make him choose between broken bones and getting cut up.

Adema snaked forward like a spiny serpent and swung over the demoness almost like a lasso as it struck at Kami head and shoulder. The tail was coming in at him in a rotation opposite of the elf's leg.*

38Kaminosai

Kami smirked. There was a good reason why people didn't generally start a sweep after their opponent started one. Your opponent has just that split second ahead of you to get there first. Now, naturally, with all her weigh now squatting on it as she was, Kami wasn't going to be able to trip her up with his leg. But that was fine, instead he let his leg bump hers and hooked his ankle around the back of her foot. His torso continued to turn with the momentum from his spin, and his freehand shot up and delivered a powerful palmstrike towards her bent knee. If her leg hadn't been flexed as it was, there was no doubt her knee would be broken by that attack. Given that all her limbs were forward and she was throwing her weight that direction, there'd be no physical way to dodge such a blow or keep herself from falling backwards, unless those wings were far more durable than they should be. This would naturally throw her kick wildly off and remove the threat, but likely not the tail.

To handle that, kami's raised hand gripped the hem of his long sleeve and whipped it around, wrapping it around the incoming tail. A light tug yanked it upwards and away from him. The blades on the tails armor cut several small tears into the fabric. The large number of stitched up holes and rends in his clothing showed this wasn't something he wasn't used to however.

All the while, he still had a very relaxed and happy smile on his face.

Awright, folks, I'm out for tonight. Kami, best of luck, and Sierra, give it your all! It's too bad I can't stick around for the rest of this fight--Kell, keep the commentary going strong. smilies/icon_xd.gif

40Kellindel

"I'd have to agree with him on that move." Kellindel said as he watched their continued exchange. "It was foolhardy to try the same move as someone else after them when you have no grasp of their capabilities. Assuming you're faster than someone else will only set you up to take a hit. The best thing he could have done was followed through with compensation like that."

His sharp eyes moved from their legs up to their spare limbs. "Now he's pulling her into his attacks. It'll take some serious manuvering on her part to pull out of that situation when he has leverage and access to her supporting limbs."

41Anonymooo

((Okay, I'll stick around for one more post 'cause Kami and Kell are persistent. smilies/icon_xd.gif))

"It's possible that with her wings and tail, she has more overall mass than Kami, though," Mooo commented. "So if it came to exchanging blows, there's really no telling whose attacks would be stronger. Kami has power, and he's durable, but by getting that close to her, he's not being very safe."

His arms relaxed, hands resting on his hips as he leaned forward, trying to get a better view of what Kami was doing. "She fights a lot like CV, though... those kind of movements aren't martial. Probably gymnastics, or dance. Kami's gotta stop fooling around with her and just get down to business."

42Lady Sierra

(( :: 3/17 :: ))

*Ra'kar grinned as the monk tried to ensnare her foot and tail. She had actually been placing her weight forward and off to the side so that she could angle her leg upwards. As Kami struck for her leg she would roll to the side... using her momentum to follow through into a crouch. This would change the location of where her foot was. As she rolled up and to the side, her ankle would be beyond the reach of Kami's foot... unless he planned on breaking his leg by trying to bend it in unnatural angles... As she rolled over, her foot would now be in position to catch him across the jaw unguarded....

She would roll into her crouch, redrawing 'Elven Fire' as she did so.

But what of the tail? As the sleeve wound around the appendage, so the tail wound around it and his wrist... as if it were gripping it like a human hand. The tail wouldn't relinquish it's grip and would instead try to hurl Kami towards the edge of the gear, Jerking his arm at a dislocating angle, using the monk's own weight and the force of gravity to aide in popping the joint out of place. The spines along the tail's armor would bite into any unguarded flesh beneath the sleeve of the monk's robe. The sleeve itself, would be shredded into ribbons as Adema released him to follow the throw through...

The demoness's sword was held before her as she crouched... slowly getting to her feet... ready to guard against an unforeseen retaliation.*

(( Okay, last post for this morning. Gonna get busy here in a sec. smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

Kami was only momentarily impressed by her unusual escape. Due to the angle of her kick, he only had to tilt his head to avoid it, but the very tip of her toes still managed to nick his cheek and draw a long gash up the side of Kami's face. He payed it no mind at all however. Her mistake was in chosing to roll to escape. There were two simple reasons it was a mistake. The first being that it took time. More than enough time for kami to draw his other leg in and adjust his footing after she rolled over it. The other, was that she was rolling onto the side of her body that her tail was coming from. Unless it could detach from her body, she was going to have to do some seriously wierd maneuvering to get over it while still grabbing his arm.

He smirked as she attempted to grapple his arm with the previously mentioned appendage. One of the strictest rules to fighting was never grapple a grappler. Kami's martial art was similer to Daito Ryu Jujitsu. Which in turn spawned Aikido, judo, and jujitsu among others. Dealing with wrist locks and limb dislocations was his specialty. As such, his thumb folded in and his hand took the split second of looser space to twist around in her grasp, the smootheness of his sleeve only aiding him as he gripped her tail with a grip that could crush a masonry brick. Kami's dexterity was one of his strong points. The spikes did penetrate his sleeves fabric, but oddly it felt as though something had yanked them away from his arm at the last second, just barely missing the puncture and causing a mere scratch. His other arm, having recovered from it's attempted strike, shot up and grabbed the tail as well, minding the spikes carefully. His footing prevented him from being thrown, along with his own strength and weight.

He smiled at her, a little more mischeviously as he rose to his feet and turned his body. He grunted and pulled her tail, and subisquently herself, in an attempt to swing her around into a throw of his own. She would have to contend with her balance being yanked out from the tailbone, as well as find some way to keep his superior strength from simply tossing her over the edge in reciprocation.

(( :: 4/17 :: ))

44Kellindel

"Well there is no way she could've known that Kami was an expert when it comes to grappling." Kellindel said to himself, weighing the course of the battle as he went. "But it didn't seem like her position gave her very much leverage to throw him and with such a narrow limb? I wonder if she actually can throw him. If so then that demon blood in her must be of one of the larger, uglier varieties and the petite look is just some magical trick."

His footing shifted as he settled in for a good wait. It didn't seem like he was going to have to jump in any time soon at this pace, but he'd have to be ready just in case.

45Lady Sierra

*Ra'kar had been rolling forward and to the side so that her tail was left free to maneuver behind her and to her left. While the tail managed to twist in his grip enough to allow her to complete her roll, it was prevented throwing the monk.

Kami himself had made a terrible error. He was judging his opponent's strength as if she were human, when she was far from it. Her striking appearance said as much was obvious. Hell, the long pointed ears were enough to give it away on their own. No matter how small she was, or how frail she seemed... Ra'kar'shei'lian was a demon.

Instead of being yanked backwards she grounded herself and yanked her tail back towards her body with inhuman strength. The way that the jointed armour was spined... there was no safe way to grab it. To grab the tail as he had... he would have put more than one of the spikey barbs nearly THROUGH his hand... He had a choice to make now. Let go of her tail... or have the spines rip through his flesh as she yanked it free... There was always the chance that he would simply be dragged nearer her... but that would put him in range of her short sword, which he was just barely out of at the moment.*

As for her strength, Kami was basing it more on her build than her size. If i recall your bio said she was elven. And elves are generally weaker than humans in terms of physical strength. ((Sorry Kami-kun... I'll dig up my ref pic...

As for her size, she looks frail and doll like... typical elven build and grace. But she is an elf demon. It's the same as a small woman of the vampiric or lycanthrope races have inhuman strength. No matter what she looks like... she's a different breed and her genetic make-up is different from that of a normal elf's.

Her weight is the factor though... She's 120 lbs... probably weighs in at about 150lbs with her gear. Her flexibility and agillity make up for it mostly, usually letting her squirm her way free of things... but she still is a lightweight either way.

Here's Adema's tail spine:

Her tail's a little longer than that, but it gives you a visual for the way the spines and barbs are. The metal jointinf should encase the whole circumfrance of her tail too... Hope that helps. <3

Someone else started to boo the all female team and wound up with a face full of softdrink from a FF-supporter! Things were getting interesting on and off the field now!

(( Ahhh, that is helpful. That's actually exactly as i had pictured it, I had just made the assumption that Kami would be grabbing the underside of the tail, as the upper side with the spines is turned toward his arm.

As for resisting the throw, unless Ra'Kar can dig her toes into the wrought iron gear we're standing on, there's no way to really "dig in" per se. At 150 lbs Kami wouldn't have too much trouble tossing her around. Especially when throwing his entire bodyweight into a throw like this one. But, i'll roll with it anyway, just to save time. ~laughs~

And finally, am I to understand it then, that she's actually a demon herself? And not an elf who's partially posessed by one as I had assumed? smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

Kami wasn't as surprised by her strength as one might assume. Still, she was stronger than he had anticipated. Rather than let himself get pulled back toward her, he released his grip on her tail and allowed it to draw itself away over his arm. However, there was no sound of screams or tearing flesh. No bleeding or further rended clothing. The mystery of what had kept the spines from digging into his flesh earlier was answered as her tail pulled away.

A large number of ofuda papers covered the spined side of her tail armor, sticking to it via mysterous forces. Through the rends in his sleeve one could see that his arm as well was covered with similer ones. More papers also began to fly out of his torn clothing in pursuit, swirling around the tail and attempting to cover the rest of it.

Kami meanwhile stumbled a bit from the pull and had to stamp his foot out to regain his balance. He was a bit wobbly, but he was managing despite the difficulty in staying upright in this area. Concentrating on the ofuda and his balance at the same time was marginally difficult. He grinned at Ra'Kar in a rather less comforting manner than he had been up to this point. "I'd say that's enough playing around for now, wouldn't you?"

((Sierra is the daughter of a high elf and a kastian mountain elf. She however, is the incarnate of a demon created as an elemental guardian of Gaia. Because the soul of the demon was reborn within her, the vessle.. her body, is a guise in a sense of the demon within. That demon is Ra'kar. Her soul, abilities and knowledege and exist within Sierra. The body is shared, the abilities and strengths.. while they had to be relearnt for the most part are shared. Only the souls are seperate. While they are what they call 'soul sisters' they are still seperate identities. Both are aware of anything the other sees of hears though, unless one soul is rendered unconcious. Ra'kar grinned, a fanged smile across the small distance that separated them as he let go of her tail...then, :: Oh shi--:: her almond shaped eyes widened with a moment of shock.

  • smilies/icon_eek.gif ! -

*She should have seen that coming. Shame. Shame. As she had been using her weight to keep her from sliding closer to her opponent and then being thrown... when he let go of her tail her body shot backwards. She had two problems now... ON TOP of those damned papers! Trying to regain her footing on the slippery and dusty surface of the rotating gear face... and the actual motion of the gear itself.

Have you ever ridden on round-a-bout? Those things that kids run around and around, spinning it while their friends cling to the bars and try not to be flung off? Well the gear they were on was much like a pole-less version of just that. Moving a little slower mind you, but still enough that gravity would be trying to pull the two bodies out and off.

The boots she wore, were soft soled and steel toed... a weird adaptation of ballet shoes if you will, designed to protect her toes and enhance her kicks, but still allow her to pull off her dance/gymnastics based moves comfortably.

She plants her right foot and uses the momentum of her falling body to push into an un-easy spin. Back into her zone of comfort she quickly regains her balance and her left foot snapped to her knee as she did a sort of pirouette. Her left arm would be held vertically across her chest, while her sword arm, still gripping the short sword would be held out to balance her and act as guard..

One rotation of her body and the left foot was back down on the gear, She was leading her stance with her left leg, bent at the knee, her right leg was bent only slightly and her foot was planted out behind behind her. Her torso was held in an aligned position over her left knee, keeping her spine neutral.

Her tail lashed about behind her highly irritated as the ofuda tried to plaster her.

Ra'kar's eyes glinted and her body pulsed with the pyro energies that surrounded her being. Flame sparked along the papered tail in a blazing spiral that chased down the limb's entire length, burning away the papers.

The demoness would remain in her guarded stance as one of the papers slip past her and cut across her cheek, leaving a thin line of crimson in it's wake. With a low growl from her throat any papers within half a foot of the woman would ignite and burn to ash.

As Kami grinned at her, differently than his usual lecherous manner... the woman smiled at him her eyes narrowing dangerously.*

"Yes I would... So show me what you've got old timer!"

She would lunge at him, guarding herself with her left arm.... She would aim a sword strike at his breast, much like she had with the right hook earlier. Stepping into the movement.

(( Ahhh, i see now. I was a little worried before, as if her physical vessel was a demon this fight would tip wildly in Kami's favor. Then i'd feel like a jerk for suggesting the matchup. ~laughs~ As it is, she's still supceptible to some of his magic, just not nearly as much. ))

Kami's grin widened as she attempted to use fire to burn the ofuda away. Kami had expected that. He hadn't taken the time to pay attention to it in the bar, but here on the battlefield his sensitivity to the flow of elemental energies was turned to full, and people who were adept at an element or connected to it in any way had a tendancy to attract that elements energy. As it was, according to Kami's knowledge of Onmyoudo, the flow of the fire element in the room was drawn around Ra'Kar and strengthened by her mere presence. That's why he had taken precautions.

Looking closely, one would see there were two different ofuda in use around her tail, each with a different scripture on it. The one that was more plentiful was scripted to bind the metal element, effectively ruining the edge of the blades and spines on her armor so long as they covered it. The others, were to reflect the flame element, spaced somewhat evenly to protect the others. A few of the metal binding papers did burn away though, unfortunate as they were to be outside the protection of the others.

Meanwhile, after the papers finished plastering themselves they no longer needed Kami's attention. So, while Ra'Kar took the time to regain her balance, he took to the next step. He wiped his right index finger along the gash she had cut into his face, slicking away a small bit of blood from it. He drew a series of strange characters on the palm of his left hand with it which he then snapped outward, causing his rosary to fall out of his sleeve. He caught it with a flick of the wrist and wrapped it around his hand, then levelled his gaze at the charging demoness.

"Well since you asked..."

As she drew closer, Kami pointed his left palm downward to his side and raised his right arm horizontally in front of him. Aside from that he seemed to be just as relaxed as always. He took a long, deep breath, and began to chant a long string of odd syllables.

*Ra'kar glares in irritation having had noticed that some of the strips of paper still clung to her unburnt. Her right eye would twitch in annoyance. Those were to be dealt with in a moment.

But first... She needed to stop that chant... and he hadn't blocked her!

Her sword would strike him across the chest, but the elven blade would be unhindered by the pesky papers. Ra'kar had surrounded the sword with a shielding of void energy the moment she recognized the strips of paper for what they were. This miniscule barrier was woven to absorb anything of magical nature or energy that did not correspond with the caster's spiritual signature. To be touched by this barrier, would result in the ofuda's enchantments to be consumed by the void.

With the sword blade free of being dulled by the ofuda, it would connect across the man's chest from his left shoulder, across his collar bone his chest and to the top portion of his rib cage. It would be a nasty gash, but worse than that... there was enough force behind that strike to break his clavicle bone and knock the wind out of him, which would cut his chanting short... or he'd bite his tongue off... which would be a shame. She liked being flattered by the monk when they weren't fighting! X3

With her sword arm past his left side as the strike carried through... she would aim her elbow at the pressure point between the man's shoulder blades, the hilt of her sword aimed for a stunning blow at the base of his skull.

She had been 'stepping' into the attack to carry the force... and as such her right knee was raised to the monk's gut, on top of the smash from her right arm... it would likely double him over.

IF it did...

She would sidestep and aim her tail at his lower back. Adema's spines were useless at the moment... but the force of the whip-like limb was more than enough to put someone's back out if not fracture vertebrae.

All the while she was still guarding with her left arm and once the backwards blow had been delivered... she'd also be guarding with the right.*

From my understanding here, Sierra did a diagonal slash. From the shoulder to the top portion of the rib cage.

Kami, you bent back, if I understand this right. (( It's fine, i just have to do a different post is all. Anyway, it's a shortsword yes? so something like two feet long or less? ))

Kami's brow furrowed as the strike he had been expecting towards his chest was changed into a sweeping strike towards his shoulder, this would require a whole different defense than he had planned altogether. He continued chanting and twisted his upper body, trying to move the shoulder she was targetting further away. Meanwhile he tried to move his left arm upwards to intercept. It wasn't quite fast enough however, and the edge of the sword bit into his flesh just before he could reach. It managed to draw across his shoulder in damn near hit the collarbone before he managed to block it's progress with his left forearm. The wards to reflect the Metal element were still thankfully covering that arm.

He sucked the air through clenched teeth in a quick pause between syllables as he continued to chant through the pain. His voice was strained and the look on his face made it clear he was far from comfortable. But a slight pause in the chant wasn't enough to disrupt it, she'd have to do something to make him stop altogether for more than a few seconds.

Meanwhile, his body went from relaxed to tense in an instant, rolling his inner chi through his body like a wave and into his right arm. As she stepped forward to get into range to knee him, his hand moved only a few scant inches and smacked against her abdomen. Even with the armor, and even if she managed to get her free hand to block in such a short instant, it would likely still not be enough considering all the effort she was putting into followup strikes. All of kami's strength was focused onto that one point and enhanced with inner bodily energy, more than enough to send her 150lbs flying backwards.

(( :: 7/17 :: ))

63Lady Sierra

((I have it logged and listed as 3ft, hilt included. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif ))

*Ra'kar's eyes glinted as her sword split his supple skin, just the scent of his blood excited her. Her senses noted the muscles that shifted as he moved his left arm in to block it... He seemed to be relying on the ofuda to protect him again... just like he had with his shoulder? She hadn't lifted the void shielding on her sword's blade and thus it sliced through the paper strips easily, biting into the flesh of his arm.

She would pull back on the stroke though, she didn't want to sever the limb and have him bleed to death! She would rotate her arm so that the hilt of her sword was now aimed to smash into his chin. The amount of force behind the blow would be enough to break the jaw, if it connected... dislocate it at best.

Just then his right arm swung into action. Her left arm moved to defend herself, but it was at an awkawrd angle and their bodies were too close. She managed to knock the blow askew... lessening the force chanelled into it... but it still sent the woman flying.

She herself was no stranger to pain, but... damn! It sure didn't tickle taking a hit like that. Her eyes widened and she coughed, a gasp for air she sailed backwards.*

:: What the-- OH ********?!--- OW! ::

*As she flew back, her sword arm went with her... and she managed a swipe at his torso, right collar bone to hip. The Velocity in which she was being propelled would prevent it from being very deep or covering that entire expanse of flesh, but she wasn't one to waste an attack, and even if it was only a scratch that she left him with, it was better than nothing.

As it was, the leg that had been moving in to knee him, now kicked at his ribs instead, hoping to nail him with an upwards swipe of her steel toed boot as he blasted her.

She would relax her body, letting her being get a good little distance away from him. Instead of crashing into any of the other gears or the tower wall though... Her large, black feathered wings unfurled and caught her mid air.

She takes a moment to just hover there, catching her breath... *

I'm at work and i've had a months worth of paperwork dumped into my lap to be done before morning. :domo: I'll have a much shorter and concise post in a minute. just to keep things moving since we're already going into the third day. ))

The wards on his arm were set to reflect the metal element, meaning they'd begin resisting the the sword before actually reaching the blade or being touched by the field. There was still enough force to slice into his arm however, which caused him to choke between syllables again.

As for her followup attacks after taking his counter-blow, if she had made just one she might have been able to put a good amount of force into it. But making multiple from that position while being knocked backwards just wasn't reasonable, and as such the blows more or less glanced off. The tip of the sword barely scratched through his kimono and drew only a little bit of blood on the deepest part of the cut, and the kick was little more than a hard nudge. Kami stumbled backwards all the same. The pain was awfully sobering, but it was just as hard on keeping his balance as the alcahol had been. He dropped to one knee, and all of the sudden his chanting stopped. With an exasperated shout he slammed his left palm against the gear.

"Four winds of Heaven and Earth divination!

Mountains of the west, devour the setting sun!"

Suddenly, all of the energy running throughout the fire element in the room was forcefully redirected and fueled into the earth element. Any fire, either magical or naturally ocurring, was now severely weakened and nearly uncontrollable. Kami stayed as he was, panting heavily and looking quite the worse for wear from his wounds. There was some shifting around in his robes and more ofuda covered them, acting both to staunch the bleeding and block out the pain.

(( Actually, i'm not editting. I'm sorry but there's no way that attack would reach my face in the split second to hit you. ))

69Lady Sierra

(( The strike to your chin was already taking place as she was bringing up her knee. Originally she would have brought her arm past and aimed at the base of your skull... timed to connect when her knee hit you in the gut so that the two forces would compliment one another, but you went to block her and she opted for your chin instead. ))

70Kaminosai

(( Yes, but you'd have to A: recover from your initial movement having changed your mind on how to strike (just as i got penalised in reaction time switching how i was blocking your strike earlier), B: likely have to either swing the sword around or change your grip on the handle to get around my arm, and C: travel the distance to my face. All in the span it took to move my arm a few inches. I'm not saying you couldn't throw the attack, i'm just saying you'd miss as i'd knock you back first, which would shorten your reach considerably. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif ))

71Anonymooo

The strike--with the hilt of a short sword, no less--would require Ra'kar to adjust her movement mid-swing--not easy to do, not comfortable to do.

Kami's movement is linear, with a focused target, shooting straight out--it'll reach its target faster than the arcing movement of the swing your girl's doing, Sierra, even though it's been slightly redirected. With him saying that his chi is centered, as well, that lends just a hair more speed to what's already a technique-based advantage.

That's why jabs are good setup movements--they're straight, focused, and will reach the target before any other attack--and a jab can carry a lot of weight.

Quote: As she stepped forward to get into range to knee him, his hand moved only a few scant inches and smacked against her abdomen.

(( You hit her after she sliced at you, because the knee was a follow up. So she's only contending with your block. Lets say there's less than half a foot between your arm as you raise your arm to block your chest. She was already reversing the strike as you brought your arm up because she doesn't want to bleed you to death. Her sword would be coming down point towards the ground due to a rotation of her wrist. She's bringing that sword up as soon as it touches your arm. She's an elf demon, both of which are extremely agile and she's dance trained enhancing her agility that much more... She'd make the connection with his jaw as his fist connects with her abdomen, that would likely save his jaw from being broken... but under his chin would be cut up from the hilt, and it would still likely be dislocated... A collective gasp went up from the crowd as the chi-focused strike sent the woman flying! A moment of silence as they held their breath... and then a second gasp as they would see that she was going to be okay and the fight wasn't over yet! They errupted into wild cheering. Some screaming for the monk to finish her off, others yelling for Ra'kar not to give up!

83Anonymooo

The fight's actually gonna be pretty tough for me, strategy-wise. Mooo likes to hit people in the head--he's got strong hands (and handy gloves), so striking the head isn't as detrimental to him as it is to regular folks. However, I don't like the idea of using his ridiculously strong punches on a girl's head, so I'll have to find some ways around that. smilies/icon_xd.gif

Ra'kar hovered in the air as the same metaphysical netting of void that surrounded her blade, spread over her body like an unseen second skin. Over her body and down her tail... Nullifying the ofuda. As they fell to the ground that was now far beneath her... the demoness spat out a mouth full of blood, (she'd bitten her cheek when he nailed her in the abdomen) she laughed and called out to her opponent.

"How about loser buys the first round at the bar tonight?!"

*She winked and brought her sword up before her. All that effort had been for naught... The problem with trying to manipulate the energies in this room... was that there wasn't very much to manipulate. And as for any elements that the demon summoned... She herself had mastered manipulation abilities millennia ago. She had also learned to hold onto her energies when she used them... she guided her magicks and then recycled the energy put into it. Waste not Want not ^_~

The end result was... that her energies were just that. HER OWN. She relinquished them to no one.

Now... to do something about those damned papers once and for all...

Just as she had summoned the void about herself, she cast a like barrier around the monk's being. Thus... she would nullify all the strips of paper he had on him.

Her main focus however... although it may not have been noticeable... for this was a very subtle thing she did... As she held her blade she appeared to wipe it clean of his blood on her sleeve... Really what she did was use the sleeve and her height above everyone, to mask her finger squiggling a rune in the red substance.... thus sealing her opponent's blood.*

Edit: Woop, made a typo previously. Fire feeds into Metal on the complimentary path in Onmyoudo, not Earth. Fixing it now. smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

Kami smirked as his opponent attempted to circumvent his magic. He was used to it, nobody ever actually understood how his magic worked. They couldn't really be blamed for that, as Onmyoudo was a relatively unknown art in this day and age. She couldn't have been expected to understand that his method of affecting elements was wholly different than any other magic she was used to. His spell had nothing to do with her or her own magic at all. She could cast her fire spells to her hearts content.

He felt the hairs on his neck pick up as a feild of Yin energy surrounded his body. He actually scoffed out loud at it. Kami was spiritually strong enough to seal away Kyuubi's single handed. Such a simple spell done in such haste wasn't really a threat. Besides, she was hardly the first void-mage he'd run into on gaia. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting several, and he was pretty used this trick by now. Plus, the turning of the gear meant the distance between them was increasing steadily. He didn't need to fear an attack just yet.

Most people didn't know how to unlock the power in their blood. For Kami, it was a necessity, both to his magic and his martial arts. That was where most of his spiritual power lie, as blood is the most powerful of catalysts in his realm of magic. It served as the connection between his flesh and his spirit, and as such wasn't so easy to gain control over. He brought his hands up to his chest and put them together. Pinky and and ring fingers folded, with the middle and index fingers pointed skyward and his thumbs side by side. He furrowed his brow and seemed to growl under his breath for a moment in concentration. He focussed the power of his indomitable spirit to bear via his own blood. With a loud shout, it exploded outwards from his body. Nothing visable of course, unless someone had the gift of seeing pure spiritual energy. Given what little time or care Ra'Kar gave into doing the spell, this would be more than enough to dispell it.

"Well... since i still owe you for the other day, I suppose I'll have to win this quickly. You've proved I don't need to handicap myself anymore after all."

His face once again relaxed into a smile as he said this. His left hand reached into his left sleeve and pulled out what looked like a foot long peice of wood connected to a chain. A sharp yank pulled the chain out, revealing seven more similer segments of wood and chains. His left hand whipped to the side, and each of the lengths of chain shortened into the wood, bringing them together into a seven foot long quarterstaff. Aside from it's unusual construction, it seemed perfectly normal. The end of this staff was stamped against the ground as he took his stance. Hips dropped slightly, knees bent, with his staff planted against the gear behind him in his right hand. His left hand was held outward, palm facing Ra'Kar with his rosary still wrapped around it. With his long red hair, it looked awfully reminicent of a kabuki actor.

((Don't worry hun... I can see it making a difference but if I had made a slip like that I'd want it fixed. Go for it.

I WILL however point out though... Kami wouldn't be able to sense anything in his blood being affected yet. She hasn't actually done anything to him that would cause him to take notice. She's being very subtle and biding her time with that trick. All she did was seal it. Nothing more... she's just 'holding the doll' so to speak.

The void she's surrounding you with... well it won't be dispelled so easily... but I'll leave that 'til I see what you do in revision. ))

97Kaminosai

(( I'm pretty sure it's up to me as to whether Kami can tell when his blood is being enchanted or not. Even if Ra'Kar isn't utilising it, the spell has still been cast on it. He's extremely sensitive to spiritual and magical energies, so i'm afraid that happens as i wrote it.

Also, don't understimate his spiritual strength so much. Considering you were utilising three spells in the space of one post, I seriously doubt they could be very powerful. Nothing is being revised. ))

98Lady Sierra

((What she's doing isn't a spell. All she's done is drawn a rune in your blood. It's like picking up a piece of hair someone shed or a toe-nail clipping... a piece of cloth from their clothes. There would be nothing to sense as of yet. It's a step in preparing for her blood speaking, not the actual magick. The rune, written in your blood will act as link once activated. It's sealed and dormant at the moment. The seal being the rune.

I'm not underestimating his spiritual ability or strength. Just try and keep in mind that Ra'kar is a being created of magicks. She is born of fire and darkness, granted a soul and life by her Goddess. And she's got a few millenia on your lengthened human years. Energy manipulation for her is mostly an innate trait, just expanded on. It comes as naturally to her as breathing because to her, energy's flow through her as much as oxygen.

Moderate elemental stuff is almost subconscious for her. She's been doing it forever. 'tis 2nd nature and doesn't require very much focus on her part. Like I said, it's PART of her. It's just like her brain telling her arm to move or her fingers to close into a fist.

She lives for her power. All she does is further her abilities and get enjoyment out of people where she can. 'tis her nature. ))

(( Explain to me how you "draw a rune" in someone's blood, and yet it isn't "magick"?

Also, that's very nice for your character. But you're a demon, so i had pretty much taken that into account when i wrote my response. Don't assume that Kami is weak simply because he's human. Additionally, i'm thinking more in terms of RP fairness here. You can't expect to be able to throw out several powerful attacks every single post with no drawbacks. I stand by my post, unless you can give me a better argument as to why i shouldn't.

Also, i've been incredibly lenient on letting you get away with questionable things this entire fight, all in the interests of saving time. We're on day three here, and we're barely halfway finished with the first fight. Our teammates only have two days each to do theirs now, assuming we finish tonight and they can even get together online well enough to do it that fast. Can we just move on now please? ))

100Lady Sierra

((I'm not saying your character is weak. I'm just saying that he is facing someone who's forte's run parallel to his own. Neither of them will be very effective against eachother because it will go back and forth. He'll try and manipulate her and she'll try and manipulate back.

The demonic rune is a magick symbol. But it is dormant. It is simply a drawn seal, an unopened portal. Until she activates it there is no link to you metaphysicaly. It's as if it were drawn in ink right now.

The void as you would have seen would have had trouble in what it had been sent to accomplish. It wouldn't be able to cloak you, but it wouldn't disperse either. It would wind up in the air between them like a net to absorb elemental energies period and nullify the field.

Abilities cause dispute. That's why I haven't been throwing spells at you. She's a mage, you're a monk. It would get us nowhere. I just want to fight and get this finished. I'm here for fun but I don't back down on something I believe in either. ))

Regardless of what it's purpose is, I don't understand how you can draw the rune itself without using magic to do so. But if it's really going to keep dragging this out then I'll edit it. Well since I get no answer from Sierra, here's what happens.

The demon lady is all the way up, with the blood, and she does draw the rune. The rune itself is magical, yes. If Kaminosai has a way to know what happens all the way on those drops of blood up there, he can feel the rune being drawn, even if it's effects are dormant.

If he can't, then he won't notice the effect before the rune is actually triggered and reaches the rest of his blood. If it can indeed reach the rest of his blood is up to Sienna's judgement and knowledge of her own character's powers.

Edit your posts accordingly, and if you can't get along again, ask a judge, please. Like it was mentioned, there aren't a kazillion months left to the tournament, and it's only your first fight.

Now lets motor! <3

EDIT :: Sorry B </3

EDIT-EDIT :: Wings, unfurl and act as a buffer/drag system, slow her.. flap and she hovers...))

*The barrier that served as a second skin around the woman would pull away, joining the flow of the void between the two fighters like a wave in the tide.

As the monk tried to dispell it by emitting a large pulse of his own personal energy, the void would meet a moment of resistance before acting like a vaccum and consuming the energy. The demoness had stopped using any kind of flame energy as she shielded herself with the void... And now Kami would see why.

A break in the continuity of the energy field, it acted like a black hole and would absorb any energies present. Natural or otherwise.

The void couldn't be tamed... merely manipulated. Sure it meant that Ra'kar couldn't cast her magicks at the moment... But it also meant that the paper strips would be useless against her as well.

She was leveling the playing field.

Ra'kar smiled at her opponent's reply and regulating her breathing, she lets the dagger in her left wrist sheath slip into her grip and dives at Kami, her wings tucked tight against her body as she closes the distance rapidly.

That staff had quite the reach... this was going to get fun.

She was divebombing him... or so it would appear. If she continued her current course she would come in straight at him and throw her weight into him in a body check... *

(( :: 8/17 :: ))

109Kaminosai

(( .... So you went through all that trouble to cancel out my magic by essentially doing what my magic was trying to do anyway..... thanks? smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

The ofuda papers slid off Kami's body as the magical energies in the room were absorbed. It wasn't too much a problem, as they had mostly scabbed over by now. Still, move around too much and they'd open right up again. Which was too bad, as that was going to be pretty unavoidable right now.

As Sierra dived toward him, a low sound came from Kami's lips. At first it could almost be thought to be chanting. But that would be kind of silly as he could easily tell there was no way he'd get any spells off right now. No, it was obviously something quite different. The closer she got, the louder it became.

"Hooooooooooooohhhhhh........ HAH!"

Just as she got close enough where he was sure she couldn't change course, he finally reacted. His right hand swung his staff over his head in a perfect arc, slamming the opposite end of it against the gear hard enough to make it shudder. His left hand grabbed it as well as he did this, and he used the force of the hit to throw himself upwards. Travelling hand-over-hand he pushed his body up to the end of the staff while giving a loud and highly characteristic shout.

"YEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH!"

This left kami in the air, using his stick for balance with his feet pointing toward the ceiling. Sierra meanwhile, was now plummetting either towards the gear, or towards his staff depending on what angle she was coming from.

110Lady Sierra

((It did just a bit more, it'll keep you from plastering her blades or tail, and prevent you from helping heal ^_^;; And I'm sorry luff. I didn't mean to cause such a headache. ))

*Ra'kar had been going for a feignt and had tilted her wings back to guide her upwards, pulling out of the dive and leveling out just beyond the staff's reach, but as her opponent thrust himself into the air, balancing atop the 7ft staff she angled her wings back again and shot up at the monk.

She would come with a sword strike from the left, it would move in upwards-diagonal aimed for the man's elbow joint. She was striking with the back of her sword, dull enough that it wouldn't sever the limb if it connected, but sharp enough to cut and definitely hard enough to break or dislocate the bone and joint.

If it connected, it would be driven even hader into the man's arm as her body would follow behind it in an aerial check.

She was sure that the man was ready for something like this though, and her left arm and the dagger that she clutched, were ready to raise in defense as they were hald across her breast.

She wanted to split his focus though... as she swung with the blade, she would wait for him to move in a counter... then her tail would snake out in a whiplike motion to crack against the staff and send the monk off balance.*

(( :: 9/17 :: ))

Kami's smile widened. That was exactly what he expected she would do. Granted, it was physically impossible for her to change direction that drastically at that speed from that close, but hey. It wasn't the first time he'd seen someone do it. As he balanced his arms were still bent and flexing. This unfortunately caused the wounds on his arm to open up and begin bleeding again, but he seemed relatively unphased by it for now. He couldn't ignore the pain forever, however.

"YOH!"

He made another wierd shout and pushed downward with both arms, throwing his body further upward and over her as she passed under him. He did not, however, let go of the staff. Instead the staff's seven sections disconnected from eachother. Ever lengthening chains seemingly growing between them as he whiped them around into a spiral. A spiral Ra'Kar was currently heading straight through the middle of at high speed. He didn't forget to keep the tail in mind this time either. His body curled as he raised upwards, bringing his left foot down to snap-kick at the rogue appendage and knock it away. The blade on the tail cut his geta sandal right in half, but the foot seemed unharmed.

Once she had passed under him and hopefully into the spiral, Kami would begin to drop and give the chains a sharp tug. The lengths of chain would shorten as well as be pulled tight. A move designed to bind the chains around her body from the shoulders all the way down to her ankles. As he landed, he would land on on the broken sandal. He gave a few hops on the front part of the sandal that still held via his toes, giving little hoots with each hop.

"Hoh! Hoooh! Hooooo-HAH!!!"

Down came his other foot in a powerful stomp. Both hands grabbing the chains and yanking them downward to send Ra'Kar plumetting towards the gear. Or possibly even the edge, depending on how far away she got. Astute enough onlookers might finally understand now, that Kaminosai was doing Kabuki dancing. In the middle of a fight.

((A little hard to follow at 4 am, but that was nicely done Kami-san ^_^

EDIT :: goes back to try and get the fire going again as she abandoned it to post smilies/icon_xp.gif ))

*The fact that Ra'kar had been going for a feignt, had meant that appearing to divebomb her opponent wasn't her actual intention. She would have actually slowed her decent and leveled out about 5 ft above the gear's surface... just over 10 ft away from Kami at the same time he pulled off his fancy staff-work and sprung into an impressive hand stand.

As she shot up towards the Monk though and he gathered himself... her eyes widened. His Pectoral, delts and all his arm muscles tensed. She saw the movement... AWAY! Back! Now! Then he moved into a jump with his arms instead of legs?! She had the image of the staff swung at her on a sideways angle with a solid blow and immediately she tried to change her course.

She threw herself into a backwards saummersult, her wings working over time to throw her back in the aerial roll and propell herself out of distance. Her tail recoiling with her as the monk snap kicked it... then-- CLANG!!

The metal of the tail spine clashed off of what-? The Staff?! Except it was no longer a staff but a spiral of what seemed to be 7 very sharp sections and a whole lot of chain. It was more of a bladed whip now than anything else... COOL! Wait... No it wasn't!! >_<;;

She pulled out of the backwards roll as Kami landed... (hopping and dancing)... to let her eyes take in the sight of what had almost been a very painful snare.

Her breath escaped in a hiss through her teeth. Close. Too Close.

She needed a moment to get her bearings. This was a whole new ball game... She would be about 9 ft off the ground by now, and roughly a third of the gear's breadth away from her opponent as she stayed suspended in the air, watching him closely. Her senses on guard in case someone tried to strike her from another angle.*

113Kaminosai

(( Thank you. Although, his staff isn't bladed. ))

The chains reeled themselves in and brought the seven sections together. He hung his head low for a second, causing his hair to droop over his face and hang over his head. He then rotated his head and upper body, swingin the hair around in a wild circle and stamping his foot once again. He jutted his left hand out, but didn't throw anything. Just facing his palm towards her again. His voice rose steadily in octave as he brought his head up, his hair flaying about in every direction. Then he snapped his face towards Ra'Kar and gave her the look.

YEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Kabuki actors trained for years to perfect "the look". That look where they tilt their head at just the right angle and seem to stare down at you, no matter where you're positioned, with an inhumanely wide eye. Coming from somone like Kami who's eyes were generally so relaxed they were practically fully closed, this was quite the shocking thing. Once the look was completed, he stamped his staff against the ground. Then his foot, and then the staff again. He made little hoots each time, going to an ever increasing shamisen tune playing only in his head.

"Hoh! Hoh! Hohoh! Hohohohohohohohhhhhhhhhh KAH!!!!"

He posed again, and began spinning his hair around once again. He gave a little hop and landed on the toe of his sandal, and began hopping again. Little hops to his left, followed by switching feet and little hops to his right. Then he all of the suddn stamped both feet on the ground and gave another loud shout.

"YoooooooooooNOM!"

And that was it. He smiled again and tapped his staff against his shoulder. Turning on the heel of his good sandal he faced away from Ra'Kar and walked to the edge of the gear.

"Well I've had enough. It was a nice fight Miss Ra'Kar, but i'm pooped. I'll hand you this one, drinks are on me next time."

(( There, we were back to square one and this has gone on too long. I'd like to see my team members actually get their rounds, so i'm forfeiting this round. I'm hoping those go smoother.

*Ra'kar blinks at her opponent, her mouth slightly agape as he finishes his performance and retires from the fight. She drifted down to the gear and tilted her head at him... She was left with a totally unsatisfied feeling about the match. But what could she do? They were short on time and it was his decision. Maybe there would be a way to make it up later, outsides of the tournament.

Ra'kar bows to him, bending low from the waist... which was usual. She did not show such a mark of respect to very many people. She straightens in one fluid movement and heads over to the monk.*

"Thank you for the fight Kami-san. You taught me some interesting things... and your dance was beautiful."

She hops down off the gear and wanders over to her team mates her brow furrowed as she reaches in her gym bag for a water battle that contained juice mixed with electrolytes.

((I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the fight more Kami-san. Perhaps another time when you're not pre-occupied with work and I'm not trying to function at 5 am ne? ))

115Kaminosai

He looked over his shoulder just as she gave him the bow. Well that was rather touching. He smirked as she approached him and spoke.

"I would appreciate a rematch, at a later time of course. But for now I think we should cancel our hold over the magics in the area, don't you? You'd have to go first, of course."

(( Perhaps. ))

116Lucind Varhetel

Besides from shaking her head a little Lucind gave no comment on the round's end and just provided Ra'kar with a towel to remove sweat and blood.

117Lady Sierra

Ra'kar takes a long swig of her drink and sets it down before nodding. Her almond shaped eyes flash a luminous liquid gold as she transfers her sword to her left hand and brings her right in a semi-circle to her chest... drawing the energies back into herself to be recycled. She takes a step, picks up a cloth and starts cleaning her blade...

"Your turn Kami-san... and I would like one also."

118Hogosha No Juunikyuu

The Senshi had been watching the fight closely but she would be the first to admit that this was not how she had expected it to end. Still, a win for the team was a win and now it was her turn.

She smield to herself and stretched her arms up above her head one last time, arching her back and reaching up on the balls of her feet before completely relaxing and took a deep swig from her water bottle before tossing it aside. The bottle disappeared in a flurry of sparks and Juunikyuu leapt up onto the moving gears, stumbling only slightly before she regained her footing. The rough bindings on her feet helping her to grip a little easier as her toes clenched and unclenched.

The gars moved rhythmically and Juunikyuu took a deep inhale, closing her eyes before they opened once more, a fierce and determined gaze about them as she waited for Ra'kar and Kami to depart and Moo to take his stand.

119Kaminosai

Kami nodded as Ra'Kar cancelled her spell. He held up his left hand with the familiar "two fingers to the sky" position and focused on his rosary. He didn't need to chant or cast any spells to right the flow of energy, it was just like releasing a clenched muscle. The fire element was restored to it's proper level and he smiled. He turned and gave a bow in return to Ra'Kar before leaping off the gear to land next to his teammates. He then plopped down a sigh and began seeing to the treatment to his own wounds.

"All yours 'Mooo. Make it quick hey?"

120Lady Sierra

*Ra'kar takes the towel wordlessly and wipes the dust and sweat from her face. She was not a happy demon.

Her eyes flashed as she tried to let her irritation go. To try and forget about it, she turns her attention to the round about to start. Juunikyuu's round. The demoness remembered her fight with the Senshi fondly and grinned as she called out to her team mate*

"Yo'Juuni... Give 'em Hell!"

121Hogosha No Juunikyuu

Juunikyuu didn't turn to face Ra'kar but a silent snarl escaped her lips as she clenched the gear one more time, waiting eagerly for Moo to take the stand. She wanted to get this over with, and then get what she had been promised.

How about I give you hell once this tournament is through Ra'kar? Just you wait, I'm not the same anymore...

122Bubbles [v3]

A little bald man stood straight up atop a cog and coughed loudly to get everyone's attention.

TEAM MK1 VS FEMMES FATALES

Kaminosai vs Ra'kar

FORFEIT!

Paramedics are waiting outside the door, if either of you are wishing to use their services, both for magical and conventional treatments."

And the bald man went back to silently watching the match.

123Lady Sierra

Ra'kar's long and pointed ears twitch as the Judge coughed to gather attention. As the crowd who were whispering loudly to one another in dismay, other's jeering... fell silent.

Judge Wrote:

FORFEIT!

*The word sounded loudly in the demoness's mind and she closed her eyes, sucking in a deep breath. Her fists clench around the blade she was cleaning, pressing the sharp edge into her plam. PAIN. Sharp and immediate as the warm crimson welled up from within the clean split in her flesh.

Breathing deeply she would relax her shoulders and stare at her bleeding plam a moment.*

"Chih."

*She wraps one of the cleaning cloths around her wound and finishes cleaning her sword. Sheathing it, she cleans off the bloodied tail blade. She took good care of her weapons and her gear. Sometimes they were all that seperated life from death. They deserved the careful attentions she gave them.

:: BLOODY FORFEIT. S'a ******** DIRTY word. ::

So much for letting it go.

Only after she had made sure her gear was unbloodied, did she head over to the paramedics. A little bit of magical healing and a re-charage of her energies were in order.

A few moments later she returns to find that Juuni is still waiting for her opponent. Things were not sitting will with the demoness...

((For Time's sake... If Juuni and Mooo can't start tonight, I suggest Lu and Kell take second round and Juuni and Mooo fight third. smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif ))

+Enter Mir+

A rather slim man was, oddly, ascending the vertical outer face of the clocktower. It appeared as though he was simply placing his palms, and like some kind of spider-man sticking to it's surface, what was actually going on was much more violent and metallic.

The wind howled pas thim, screaming in his ears. Meanwhile, his mind was worrying about being late. Well, not really. Hard to worry when you're an alternate. Either way, he planned on being of use.

"Ugh..."

c*k...Thunk...c*k...Thunk...

He ascnended, slowly, to a small alcove just above the clockface itself. After working on a large brick for maybe half a minute, he crawled in, he found himself situated directly above the arena, hidden in shadows.

Much as a junkie would administer heroin, Mir withdrew a small black canister with the word "Heaven" written on it in a pictogram language he had developed, called "Thari". It held little significance, the writing part anyway. This capsule, was inserted directly into his right arm. He withdrew a similar red canister, with two vertical black lines drawn upon it's casing. This, went into his left.

As his master had taught him, he began meditating. He withdrew his mind inside himself, and shut down it's frantic information processing for a time, instead following the paths inside his self that energy flowed through like steam valves, or pressure sluces on a dam.

And boy, oh boy did he have a dam. He opened his blue eyes, withdrew back into the shadows, letting them dilate, take more light in.

Striker in position, ready to deliver instant pain to tough opposition, he thought, sounding cool in his head.

((I have work today and tomorrow, today 12 till 6 and tomorrow I have no idea. If Lu-Lu and Kell wanna go first and fight it out over the weekend thats fine with me as long as its okay with Moo. I'm free from sunday evening.))

126Lucind Varhetel

((Kay then, let's wait what the others say. Anyway, last round most likely has to be done quickly in case we don't get some additional time due to inconvenient time lags.

edit: I'll be around after midnight, when all the celebrating stuff is over...))

While waiting for the next round to begin, Lucind picked up bits and pieces from the crowd talking, whispering and commenting the first round, making assumptions of the final result of the match. The wind, coming into the building at the tower's top where the huge bells hung, transported faint informations from outside.

The Half-Siren stretched out once again and waited for things to go on.

127Lady Sierra

((I won't be around much, but if Kami and his team don't mind... this new line up is for the best considering the circumstances. Happy end o'2005 mina-san.

Ra'kar started doing some stretches to both cool down her body, and keep her muscles limber. It wouldn't do her any good to seize up now. Even if her round was over, she would need to stay focused and ready.

128Hogosha No Juunikyuu

((No offence guys but this is getting bloddy ridiculous. Where is Moo or Kell, either would do just so we could at least start the second round!))

The crowd was beginning to get a little restless, shifting and whispering amoungst themselves as the Senshi continued to keep herself warmed up.

Sorry 'bout that, folks. I've been without internet for the past few days 'cause AOL is a rotting d**k, and have thus been unable to come online. I was about ten seconds away from digging up a NetZero disc before it finally started working again. I'll try and be on as long as I can tonight, so we can get this thing settled in a timely fashion. Juunikyuu arched her back into a great curve, hands on hips before rolling her shoulders individually one last time. Her ears flickered and the tip of her tail twitched. She was itching for the fight to begin.

In the background she could hear the media fighting their way through the crowd towards Ra'kar and she smirked to herself. She was going to win this fight. It wouldn't be some sucky forfeit.

"Miss Ra'kar! Miss Ra'kar! Is this how you expected the fight to turn out?!"

"Julie Davies for Gambino News Network. How do you feel Miss Ra'kar?"

"Question from Durem News Front. Why are you entering this tournament Miss Ra'kar?"

131Anonymooo

((Well, that's where you were. smilies/icon_xd.gif Awright, let's get this thing goin'.))

Mooo had fallen asleep! During Kami's match, he nodded off, since being the idiot he could be, he stayed up the entire night watching a Rocky marathon. When he hadn't answered Kami's question, it was Kell who'd nudged him awake, and as he came to, he took his glasses off, rubbing his eyes with his forearm.

Setting his glasses back on, Mooo carefully stepped back onto the center gear where Kami and Ra'kar had just been dueling. Rolling his head side-to-side, he gave a ready nod to his opponent--the girl with the purple hair and darker skin. Juuni, he thought her name was--he'd heard it somewhere, most likely from Kami.

"Sorry 'bout that delay... y'ready?" he asked, his fists resting on his hips.

132Hogosha No Juunikyuu

Juunikyuu's smirk turned to a slight grin as her opponent finally entered into the fighting arena. She shifted her weight slightly and spread her feet, her right slightly in front of her left to give her more balance and a quick start if needed. Her left arm rose at an angle, the covered forearm shielding her chest while the right hand rose at a lesser angle in front of that and to the side. The tip of her tail swished side to side eagerly and her ears twitched, listening intently to the noise around her. All of the Senshi's senses were homed in on Moo and she watched him carefully as the crowd fell silent.

Her energies began to gather around her, forming an invisable flaming aura around her. ((Flaming as in thats what it'd look like if you could see the aura, not that it'll burn you smilies/icon_3nodding.gif))

"I've been ready, where were you?" she asked in jest before nodding in a slight bow, "Lets go!"

((Guess thats my first post eh? ::1-17::

Sorry for the delay, was getting breakfast smilies/icon_xp.gif))

133Anonymooo

A broad grin formed over Mooo's features as he straightened his posture, his fists easing off his hips. Tensing his shoulders, he stretched his back a bit, arching forward only slightly as he pushed his chest forward--then ending it by slamming his fists together with a solid, metallic clang as the bracers on his gloves collided, leaving a slight, ringing echo in the clock tower's interior.

"Decided to catch forty winks," he chuckled, seeming far more relaxed than when he entered. "'Sides, it's better if I fight you when I'm awake, right?" he asked with a slightly-mocking tone as he took a step toward her.

It was obvious that he was bigger--standing four inches higher, and probably weighing twice as much as she did, he stretched his arms forward as he approached, his arms obviously several inches longer than Juuni's, giving him the reach advantage if things came to close combat.

Now about ten paces from Juuni, Mooo readied himself for the inevitable collision.

134Hogosha No Juunikyuu

So there's metal in those gloves eh... Best avoid getting hit by those, it definatly wun be pretty!

Now, Juunikyuu wasn't part cat for nothing, in fact she was pretty nimble even without the addition of the neko gene's she shared with her younger form. They just gave her a little boost in agility and sensorary areas.

Her gaze remained fixed on Mooo's movements. She made careful note of the extra reach he had over her and decided she had best perhaps compensate. Her tail snaked up and wound around her waist out of harms way before her muscles clenched and released in a burst of the energy she had been storing.

The Senshi jumped upwards, almost at Mooo but higher, catching hold of one of the overhanging bars that pinned the gears in place with both hands and swung herself up and over it releasing her grip and landing a little uneasily on the slim pole. She was soon back in her safety zone as her tail unwound from her waist, giving her a a helping hand with the balance and the rough grip of her bare feet and bindings helped her further.

She grinned cattily down at Mooo and began to summon more energies to herself, muttering under her breath slightly. A small drip of blood from her thumb fell and landed on the gear below her. She had obviously caught it on a metal splinter when she swung from the bar but this didn't bother her. In fact, it could prove to be to her advantage.

Now she was out of the way for the moment the Senshi had time to stop and gather her thoughts. If she could keep Mooo at a good enough distance he couldn't touch her. But that wouldn't make for a satisfying or an interesting fight... So she had other plans.

((I hope thats an okay post, if not, let me know smilies/icon_3nodding.gif

::2-17:smilies/icon_smile.gif)

135Anonymooo

That's a good girl--keep distance. Give me the environment to work with. An entire playground of steel that I can throw at you. When you see what I'm gonna make of your little jungle gym, you won't have any choice but to jump into Papa Mooo's waiting arms--and fight me up-close, the way I want you to.

Mooo's closemouthed smile split into a toothy sneer as Juuni decided to play keep-away--which was, in theory, a very good idea. Breaking into a trot, Mooo crossed the circumference of the horizontal gear he was on, none of that discomfort he previously showed even remotely present. At this point, it looked like he was moving away from Juuni, but in fact, he was actually headed for a vertically-set gear that was turning counter-clockwise--he lunged at it, gripping one of its struts and leaning against it with both legs, leaving one hand free as he kept his eyes on Juuni.

A minute later, he hopped from that gear onto another horizontally-set gear, this one maybe ten feet away from Juuni--he figured she'd dodge what he had planned, and end up changing her platform soon anyways.

Breaking into a full run from that gear, he used the gear's movement--which happened to be in the same direction he was going--to propel himself in a leap, cocking his right fist back, bellowing a battlecry as he let his punch fly--it actually wasn't aimed at her, but the vertically-set gear behind her--however, with all that hooplah and momentum, it sure as hell looked as if he were coming straight for her, his eyes locked on hers.

((No problems at all with the post, except for exactly where she is. I figure Juuni's still hanging from that pole, right?))

136Hogosha No Juunikyuu

((Nu, she had swung up onto it. Like gymnasts use those poles to swing from? Iunno the exact name smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif She'd have swung over it, let go, twisted and landed... if that makes sense... Sorry smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif))

The Senshi watched Mooo's movements carefully as her aura flamed a little higher before stopping, almost at what was possibly its peaking point. Her ears twitched and eyes widened slightly in a flutter of a panic as Mooo charged at her with his punch. She definatly didn't want to get hit by thos metal lined gloves, not if she wanted to keep her bones intact!

And so, she did exactly what Mooo expected... And a little more.

She jumped backwards in a flip, her back arching deeply, her hands connecting with the pole, arms bent, as she kicked her feet up and over herself before pushing upwards and landing lightly on the horizontal gear that the pole was keeping in place.

Now came the 'little more' part.

From her contact with the pole, Juunikyuu had left a drop of her blood on the metal surface and it had begun to spread out in a runic pattern. A reasonably small one but it was there. If Mooo touched the pole, it would transfer onto him giving the Senshi another possible advantage and if not, the blinding light it was about to emit would quite possibly throw him rather off course and obscure his vision.

Next the Senshi would summon her staff. Holding out her right hand it would appear in a flurry of sparks. The smooth silver glinting slightly, picking out the runic symbols engraved upon it. Using her left hand Juunikyuu would then hoist herself up onto the horizontal gear above her, stumbling a little at the sudden change in direction before regaining her steady footing and waiting her eyes seeming a little glazed, ready for the light blast.

137Anonymooo

So she moved up! He figured she'd actually drop down to the gear below, aiming to keep him moving around to try and wear him down, but that was a pretty smart plan. Mooo's plan changed only slightly at this point.

Flying right past the pole she was supporting herself on--Mooo missed his right arm smacking against it by less than an inch--he tensed his shoulder, delivering a powerful swing for the bolt that held a vertically-set gear that was about fifteen feet across, unhinging the gear as the bolt was ripped off its setting.

As the gear started to crash down, Mooo gripped one of its ends, holding on tight to it, his muscles straining and groaning as he landed, hard, on the gear directly beneath Juuni's, about twenty feet down. Hefting the gear he still carried over his hip, he turned his body so he could get a bit more momentum on his newfound weapon, and, with each turn, carefully gauging the first swing to make sure he didn't hit anything else, then following through with three more solid swings, he said:

"Quit... ********'... hoppin'... AROUND!"

With that last bit, he hurled the gear upward, aiming it directly for the bottom of Juuni's platform--letting his arms relax for a moment after he tossed the gear, he quickly got off of his own platform, catching another ride on a clockwise-moving gear and starting his ascent.

138Hogosha No Juunikyuu

<insert shock here>

Juunikyuu had known Moo was physically strong but -that- went beyond all her expectations. As Moo began to swing the gear she felt a fleeting sense of panic and searched the surroundings for options. A vertical gear about 20 ft in front of her made methodical ticking noises as it rose upwards and she took a chance as Moo screamed his frustration at her. She powered herself forwards and when she reached the tip of her gear platform she kicked off, just as the loose gear crashed into the bottom of it, splitting the other with such force that the two became stuck and the rythmatic movements of the clock tower became stuck. The gears strained and groaned as they tried to move but with the missing gearing that was almost impossible.

The gear was almost within reach for the Senshi but the sudden jolt of the gears stopping caused her holding to fail and she let out a small shriek as she tumbled downwards just as the light rune on the pole exploded in a flash of brilliant light causing the crowds to gasp and shield their eyes. In the midst of the flash there was a dull thud of a body falling against metal followed by the tinkling sound of metal on metal but when the light cleared and the dots dancing across peoples vision began to clear with it, Juunikyuu was nowhere to be seen.

*Ra'kar smiles seductively at the media, her golden eyes glinting brightly as she shares an ice melting smile with the crowd. She raises one foot on a stationary gear to adjust a boot strap... or so it would seem. Really, she was giving the cameras a distraction. They would get glimpses of the pale perfection of her thigh as the battle kimono rode up on her hips a bit... But what they would eat up was some very risque, black lace that some people called undergarments. The tabloids would love that.

She decides to throw the media circus a general statement, a tidbit to shut the lot of them up...*

"Is this how I expected the fight to turn out? Well yes. I DID expect to win. If you mean did I expect to win THIS way? Then no. I did not expect the Red Monk to forfeit... Feel?... I feel unsatisfied... Now please, my teammate's match has started. No More Questions."

*And with that, the third question was utterly bi-passed as the demoness turned her back on them and wandered closer to the combat zone where she could see better and be of use if needed... Ignoring any further questioning shouts.

She watches as the Neko-Senshi starts utilizing the fields levels and grins. The delicate appearing woman might not seem like a fighter... but Ra'kar had fought her before and knew otherwise. To underestimate Juunikyuu would be to her opposition's detriment.*

:: Win your round little one... but when I beat you for a second time, you'll remember that in the end, this means nothing between us! ::

*THEN! Juuni slipped and the crowd gasped as she fell... but what was about to happen... nobody would see... for just then the light from the rune exploded into everyone's vision.

Up close it would likely blind you... but from the distance she and the spectators were at, it was just uncomfortable. Like looking up into an unshielded lightbulb.

Ra'kar let out a hiss and turned her head to the side a moment to save her eyes.*

Mooo wasn't frustrated--far from it, he was having a blast--but it'd be even better if he'd struck the fear of God into her from the get-go, make her think he was totally batshit, and rattle her.

As expected, the gears ground to a halt, and Mooo had to start hopping from gear to gear--it was annoying, to be sure, but he wasn't complaining to anyone but himself. When that flash hit, Mooo was actually leaping between horizontal gears--he covered his eyes with his arms, suddenly disoriented as he tumbled onto the next gear, rolling almost to the end.

Slowly pulling himself to his feet, he surveyed the battlefield quizzically. Juuni was nowhere to be seen, or even heard. He'd best be on his guard, 'cause if she popped outta nowhere, he wanted to give her one hell of a surprise.

141Hogosha No Juunikyuu

Indeed. Nowhere to be seen smilies/icon_ninja.gif Sneaky like a fox. Or at least, thats what some people might have said.

Truth was Juunikyuu was currently tucked behind a vertical gear, a few feet from Moo, gingerly testing the shoulder she had fallen on. Her staff was still out on the gear she had fallen on, which happened to be the gear Moo now stood on. She cursed herself for not picking it u but the panic and pain had driven her to hide for now.

If Moo looked closely he'd probably see a few more smatterings of blood on the gear's surface he was stood on. These were spreading out into runes as the blood on the pole had done and there would be a metallic crack as the gear would split in half violently as the runes glowed.

The Senshi's staff would roll down the gap and disappear in a flurry of sparks, only to reappear in the Senshi's hand as she jumped back onto the stationary vertical gear she had been hiding behind and charged Moo, her staff drawn back, left arm across her stomach, right one straightened out behind her. Most of the staff was held behind her to enable her to swing without winding herself.

The aim would be to swing the staff at Moo's side as the cracking gear distracted him.

Unlike Moo she made no sound, no cry. The only sound, if he would even hear it over the spliting gear would be the patter of her feet over the next horizontal gear closest to Moo before the Senshi would jump, attempt to strike his side before following the tumbling gear down onto the level below, landing with a roll before continuing her run which would make her flinch, turning back to face Moo in a half circle and then waiting.

Silvered blood dribbled lazily down the Senshi's left side from the weeping scar on her left shoulder blade.

And if all that failed, well, the Senshi would probably be sent flying by a punch to some part of her anatomy. Which wouldn't be pleasant.

((4-17 ... Doing okay so far? smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif))

Kami had been spending the past few minutes tending to his own wounds. Sure, the magical healers and stadium doctors down below could probably help him, but he was a holistic physician himself. It was a matter of pride that he be able to at least heal himself. If he couldn't do that, then what good was he in a battle?

He looked up just as Mooo and his opponent were preparing to start. Kami's eyes narrowed critically as he looked at the catgirl. He seemed to be gauging her capabilities. His well trained eyes looking all over her body. He seemed to be judging her spiritually as well. Trying to narrow down what her nature might be like. After a minute or so of staring, he leaned over to Kell to give his opinion.

"34b - 26 - 36"

Then he went back to tending the cuts on his arm. Only distracted as the clockwork in the tower came to a screeching halt. Kami braced himself out of a slight fear of falling while looking about him wild eyed. After a couple blinks, he just chuckled to himself. The look of shock on on Juuni's face was something not altogether unfamiliar to him.

"Heh, she's smart to keep herself away. The only reason I could take Mooo's hits was because of how drunk off my a** I was. I was lucky I only found a couple busted ribs afterward. I just hope he doesn't bring this place crashing down on our heads..."

He hid his eyes as the flashbang went off, when shook his head and went back to his cuts.

Flexing his hands, opening them and closing them into fists, breathing slowly, Mooo noticed the weapon that Juuni had whipped out--and at that point, all hell broke loose. The sudden screech of the gear surprised him as it split in half--THAT was new--and something hard slammed into his ribs from behind.

It wasn't a particularly hard blow, but he had a feeling she wasn't hitting him as hard as she could... that was a good sign for him. The little gear trick was just a "hey, surprise" move he wanted to do so she would know not to take him lightly.

Turning toward the attack, the ground gave way underneath him as he stumbled onto a falling piece of gear--the same one Juuni was riding to her next platform!

"Funny how we take the same train home," he chuckled as he gripped the gear with both hands, letting his feet hang free from it, his massive arms bulging as he arched his back, preparing to do something that Juuni really wouldn't like.

Turning the gear's remains on its side so Juuni would be upside-down, provided she stayed in that spot, Mooo let go of the gear, lightly stepping on the edge so he could make a light hop, then come crashing down on the center of the gear-piece with as much force as he could manage, aiming to put Juuni in one hell of a predicament. She'd be all right even if she was smashed between this piece of gear and the next--while Mooo was pushing down pretty hard, he had no intentions of killing her--just making sure she'd stay down.

Ah... crap...

That was exactly what Juunikyuu thought of the situation. But then Moo did something he might well regret. As the gear turned Juunikyuu slipped off it and continued to fall, just with the gear above her. And then she felt the cool metal touch her back as Moo hopped and her eyes widened as she figured what would come next.

She didn't want to have to do this, it'd hurt. But at the same time, being pinned by the gear would be a great disadvantage to the Senshi, especially if she was counted out by the judge.

The scars on both the Senshi's shoulder blades stretched and began to weep blood furiously before they spilt open and in a flurry of ailvered blood spatter and feathers the Angel's wings literally exploded out of her back with a burst of star energy as she let out an ear piercing and pain filled scream.

She hoped, the force of the wings erupting from her back would be enough to at least throw the gear off, even if it meant Moo would jump down onto her instead. It'd be easier to beat him off than having a piece of thick metal gear between the two of them. And if she was lucky, the gear might be pushed back up into Moo as he jumped. But she couldn't control the direction the explosion made the metal go.

Depending on the outcome would depend how she landed.

((I can't post her landing until I know how the explosion effects Moo smilies/icon_3nodding.gif))

"..."

He remained still, as if considering the monks evaluation of Mooo's opponent, obviously thinking over his words carefully as he watched the battle before him.

"I... don't know what to say in response to that." He said at length, looking toward the monk sceptically for a moment before the clang of Mooo's fist removing a gear from the clockwork via blunt force impact brought his attention back to the fight.

Kell shook his head as the tower began to settle. Stopping all that movement could have been extremely dangerous. He'd noticed that their little platform wasn't attached in such a way that it would likely fall with the rest of the parts, but the rest of the machinery or the tower itself falling upon them would be dangerous enough.

"I don't ever want to get hit by him. My kind isn't built for that kind of thing."

He said, his hand likewise moving up to shield his eye from the bright light, a bit less effective from where he stood. He saw her ninja her way behind the gear, but he was pretty sure pointing her out would be against the rules.

"Can all of them use blood magic? I don't remember hearing anything about that..."

The thought brough his attention toward the sort of interview going on near the sidelines between Sierra and... a group of reporters?

"How the hell did they even get up here?"

The force of the explosion was substantial--she did something involving a lot of jetting blood, and then a sudden burst of light, followed with concussive force. Mooo didn't see exactly what happened at that time, but he was thrown clear off the gear, turning in mid-flight to c**k his arm back--the gear he originally intended to sandwich Juuni with was headed straight for him!

Growling a furious cry, he slung his fist back for the gear in a solid 3/4-angle haymaker, the impact of his punch throwing him back even faster--and sending the gear-piece careening straight for Juuni once more.

His back slammed up against a vertically-placed gear, knocking the wind out of him, but he regained himself quickly enough to grab onto the gear with his left hand, letting both feet rest on the gear, his right arm swinging freely as he waited to see just how she'd handle the gear again.

As the smoke cleared and the light dimmed back to normal, Mooo saw the wings. That'd be a problem--she'd be darting around, taking shots at him, while he was left planted on the ground. Unfortunately, Mooo didn't have anything to solve that problem, and if he unleashed Conquest Trigger in here, things might go from bad to worse. The tower was already damaged enough from the gears being stopped--if he used something that powerful in here, it might do a lot worse. Hopefully, she was still recovering from the initial transformation, and wouldn't expect him to attack again with the same chunk of metal.

(( STRIKER ))

149Lady Sierra

Keeping her gaze on the fight she whispers sideways to Lucind... as she had travelled back up a few levels since getting healed and holding the little interview, to keep an eye on things with the Half-Siren... They were now above the going's on.

"Hope they don't destroy TOO much... I think there's penalties for stuff like that ne? Unnecessary destruction or something like that?"

*Ra'kar watched, suppressing a wince as the flesh around her own wings ached in sympathy for Juunikyuu's back. Not that she'd ever admit it... but having massive structure of bone, muscle and feathers forced through your flesh ******** hurts.*

================

*And then she was off like a shot, weapon sheathed and no warning to the half-siren, as soon as her eyes has seen Mooo's arm draw back for the punch she had been air born.

She dropped from above, wings furled tightly against her back so that she rocketed towards the gear that was being sent flying towards the senshi with amazing force. There would be no way for her to get around the gear without risking the audience's safety at that point... So Ra'kar would eliminate the threat.

Aiming her flight or rather 'fall-path' with the gear's trajectory course... she would connect before it was even at it's half-way mark for impact with it's target. Ra'kar would fly straight into it, focusing an energy blast against the metal. The unleashed energy would not blow up the gear, simply speed it on it's way to the ground below, aiding in the sudden change of direction.

When Ra'kar's body slammed into the gear, it would be with her left shoulder. She braced herself, because even with armor on... a hit like that against solid steel or iron or whatever this thing was made out of... was just plain going to hurt.

She connected like a bat to a ball and she and the gear plummeted to the ground below, her force guiding it away from causing anyone harm. There would be a deafening clash as they collided with other gears that would undoubtedly groan in protest... but the damage would be minimalized and nobody would be hurt... the whole thing taking about 8 seconds in totality.

Except for Ra'kar. Her shoulder went numb on impact and not in a good way. The bones in her left arm and clavicle were shattered. She didn't know what was going on over her head now... she just knew she needed to get to those medics before she was called on again... something had to be done about the pain. There was a little she could do for it just by breathing technique...But other than that there was little she could do for broken bones without entering a 'blood frenzy'. NOT a very sane option with so many innocents around. Staggering to her feet and cradling the limp appendage to her chest, she makes her way off to the side, her jaw clenched in pain and her vision exploding with white starbursts.*

((Juuni said to let you all know she's off to work and well post later when she can. ))

150Anonymooo

Awrighty--nice save, by the way. Also, I think the regulation is against willfully endangering the audience or inactive teammates. smilies/icon_xd.gif

I'll be on for a little bit longer, but Juuni and I can probably finish this up tomorrow night, since I'll be unavailable in the day. Otherwise, we can figure something out.

151Lucind Varhetel

"Ah well...I think as long as the whole tower doesn't go boom it's okay," Lucind shrugged.

"However, I'd rather the gear construction remains stable in case we need a third r..." The end of her sentence was swallowed when both of them tensed witnessing the huge, heavy and most likely dooming projectile being tossed once again towards their mate.

The Half-Siren considered jumping into action for a split second - but it probably was really wiser for her to stay unspoiled.

When Ra'kar stumbled out of the fighting area, she hurried over to her to guide the demoness to a quiet place. Maybe she could do a little for the injured woman, like blocking the pain, until she could see the medics.

152Lady Sierra

((Edited a little because I dun think she can get healed fully by medics and mage-medics until after the current fight....))

Ra'kar smiled at Lucind, one eye scrunched shut against the pain as she nods in the direction of the fight that was still going on.

"S'our little one okay?"

*She would get the siren to help her up a couple of levels. Not so much 'help' as make sure she didn't trip. She could still function, she had an extremely high pain tolerance... it was just, well... difficult. And with her sight wavering, she didn't want to fall off of one of the gears.

If the blue-haired woman could do something more for the pain than Ra'kar could, she would appreciate it. If she was needed, she could still deliver a fair amount of damage. Granted... it was going to hurt like hell. Not that her arm didn't already... But either way, they both needed to be in a good striking position. Just in case.*

((Mooo - I know, and Juuni couldn't dodge that without blasting it, which would put the spectators at risk. ^_^;

Now I'm off for the night... err... morning >_<;;; 'tis 6:05am. Ni Ni mina-san <3))

153Hogosha No Juunikyuu

Juunikyuu was shocked. One minute her mind had been whirling as to what to do about the gear flying towards her and the next she had watched a black and red blur plummet down from above her towards the ground, taking the gear with her. Though she would never admit it, Juunikyuu was grateful for the part Ra'kar played.

Now for her offensive. With her staff in hand, she stood atop the vertical gear she had been backed up against after forcing the gear back at Mooo. The staff was held diagonally across her chest, left hand at the lowest point, right hand at the highest. The top of the staff glowed almost as if an invisable heat had been set upon it and out of the burning metal a scythe blade of pure star energy formed.

Silvered blood dribbled down the Senshi's back and off of her furled wings. In one swift movement her wings unfurled and in a powerful motion she propelled herself forward at quite a speed, though she was still in control. The bladed staff was switched to her right hand as her left began to gather small balls of energy which orbitted the Senshi like small planets. The moment she got near enough they would shoot off from her, aiming for the areas of Mooo's body she willed them too. Seven small energy blasts in total. Two aimed for his right shoulder, one at his left, one for his chest, one for his left thigh and the other two for his left leg. They would leave smoking wounds about 2 inches wide if they impacted. And while he had that to contend with, there was the bladed staff.

Once the energy's were summoned the left hand returned to its orignal position and the staff was drawn backwards as Juunikyuu once again aimed to connect with Mooo's side.

154Lucind Varhetel

Lucind didn't glance back but her ears tilted a little and she nodded. "She'll be fine. - Nice move, by the way. But lemme give you a painblocker or you're going to pass out within the next couple of minutes."

Carefully the blue haired woman sat the captain down on a wooden box which had been brought there by a broadcasting team, used to keep all kind of technical stuff in it. She knelt next to her and leaned forward as if she wanted to tell Ra'kar something secret.

"Just relax, 'kay. It's easiest when you don't try to fight.."

The Half-Siren then starting to sing and despite the noise around its effect wasn't interfered. It was an intesified version of a

About Sirens Wrote:

ni wah = song of meditation; relaxation, recovery; applicable to singer and audience; useful to temporarily block off pain

For Lucind didn't have much time she added a little more psionic force than usual: this song wasn't made for really messing with someone's mind or soul. The Half-Siren would just enter the outskirts of Ra'kar's mental system to manipulate her cerebral signals and install a temporary shield.

After about twenty seconds, Lucind straightened to look at Ra'kar.

"It should work for about fifteen, maybe twenty minutes..."

She suggested to fix the broken arm to prevent any further damages.

155Lady Sierra

*Ra'kar's lips twitched in a smile at at the siren, this would be the most trust she had ever placed on someone other than Sierra. To let Lucind do her job, she had to lower her mental shields for a few moments, something the demoness rarely ever did. In fact... coming into the tourney, they had been heightened.

She lowers her psychic guard and lets the song surround her, lulling her mind as her teammate puts the shield in place.

A moment later and her arm was reduced to a dull-ache. Discomfort, a lot of it... but she had fought with worse. She smiles at Lucind in genuine now as she re-raises her shields.*

"Thank you Lu."

she points to her gymbag and gestures at one of the long side pockets.

"There're splints and stuff in there... if you can splint the arm with some medical tape for now, I'll be good."

Well, the last of the judging is done, and the scores are in and averaged out. Obviously there is going to be a lot of bitching, but its only expected when testosterone is flaring up in unbelievable levels.

Points are awarded in 4 categories, each part is worth 5 points. On a rating scale of 1-5 for each category.

  1. Did they break any rules?
  1. How long did it take them to post?
  1. Were they creative?
  1. Could you tell what they were doing? Also being were they able to describe their moves clearly?

So winning is not about beating the living crap out of someone, but rather RPing as a whole. Though of course, winning a round does provide bonus points, and contrary to that, arguements result in deduction of points.

Femme Fatales: 16.25 pts

MK2: 15.16 pts

157Lady Sierra

*Ra'kar heaves a sigh of relief and eases to her feet as a judge makes an announcement about the time limit expiring. Her golden eyes flashing, she makes her way out through the spectators and over to the mage-medics.

She would congratulate Juuni for doing so well and shake hands with all of MK2 after... First, she wanted her damage undone. That lullaby wasn't going to keep the pain charmed away forever... and once it wore off... things were going to bloody hurt.*

158Lady Sierra

*The demoness returns from her visit with the mage-medics, her shattered bones no longer so. She felt as good as new! She stretches her arms out behind her head as rubs at the formerly ingured shoulder. Strong as ever! And good thing too as some fanboy ran up and slapped her a**... likely a dare from his friends, Still... she turned on him. He would have a split second to register that her fist was headed for his face.

Of course she didn't hit him... as much as she'd of liked to. She was sure there'd be a risk of a DQ if she KO'ed some 'innocent' spectator. Her fist stopped mere centimeters from his face.

He opened wide eyes to her and tried to stutter something. She just grinned before turning to leave again and blowing him a kiss.

The poor 'kid' was half in awe, half terrified as he sank to his knees, trembling and just stared after her.

Ra'kar makes her way back through the crowd and finds her teammates getting swamped with press.*

"Ladies congratulations on your win! Is there anything you'd like to say?"

"Please tell the viewers of the Gambino News Network, Is the Heaven or Hell tournament everything you expected it to be?"

"Durem News Front Readers want to know, If you win what will you girls do with the prize money?"

"Barton Broadcast is interested to know; Who do you most want to fight? Is there an individual or whole team?"

"Oh there's someone in this tournament I want to fight all right... s'too bad she's my captain!" Juunikyuu said with a laugh.

"Miss Juunikyuu, it is your wish to fight your team member Ms. Ra'kar?"

"That's why she joined the tournament ladies and gents, her promise for competing on my team is a rematch after this is all over."

Ra'kar interrupted as she eased in amongst the other two women and draped her arms over their shoulders, smiling at the camera's.

"What did you think of your opponents?"

"They were good fights, it's too bad they ended as they did. I'm sure we'll fight again sometime." Lucind replied softly as he looked at her captain. The half siren was putting on a good face, but Ra'kar got the impression that the noise and hub bub of the press wasn't really her thing.

"Ladies--"

"I'm sorry but that's all for now. We have to meet up with our other teammate and get something to eat. It's well past supper you know..."

"One last Question Ms. Ra'kar! Is it true that you are engaged to team GLACIER's fighter Vahn Kyonuske?"

Ra'kar's eye twitched as she turned and walked away without replying. She gathered up her gymbag and stormed out of the tower. She NEEDED a drink in a bad way...
