Advancement. So it would be to the next round for Team a** Tear. And the field? The Clocktower, Durem.

A gargoyle perched itself on the edge of a building across from the massive tower, inspecting the field, but it would not be able to do much without actually entering it. The tower rose high, and spectators were not allowed in. The battlefield; the uppermost level, where one side made up the face of the clock.

Spectators and the media surrounded the building, but none were allowed to enter, only able to stand directly next to the building at best, yet, such a position would provide the least amount of viewing room.

There was a single opening in the crowd, a small pathway which would lead to the doors of the imposing structure before the competitors which entered would have to climb the stairs to the top or take a lift.

Around the sides of the tower, like the stadium, were large screens set up, obviously linked to the cameras which had been installed to show the spectators outside what was going on. But that was not the only means of viewing the fight, for the giant glass window which made up the face of the clock would outline silhouettes from the internal lighting; something some of the media were focussing on, cameras pointing towards the top of the clocktower. Even more so, with the dark sky of the industrial city, it would be easier for those outside to watch the faint outlined shades.

Tzenidaar had come here because thats where he was directed. No spectators inside the building. He was free to do whatever he wanted. However, if the interior were to collapse, or the walls blasted apart, the spectators outside may be endangered by the falling rubble and debris.

Would he be careful of his surroundings similar to the small limits he put on during the first match where he had to actually aim to stop his weapon before it struck a spectator, or would he be completely unleashed without spectators nearby to restrain his actions?

He hopped down from the building to the outskirts of the crowd, the empty space between his wings covered in what looked like tattered black cloth which caught the air currents and slowed his descent. After consuming that wild animal he had dragged into latent, he was in prime condition, appearing as all his wounds had healed, though here were scars left over. As for his clothes and equipment, he had acquired new ones after the first match, and before he stumbled across the man fighting the animal he eventually ate. He seemed just as he was when he first appeared; except for the additional feathers he wore tied into his hair, taken from the captain of the other team before.

They saw him, the crowd, some cheered him for the personified violence he brought to the field, while others boo-ed him for being on the team which had advanced past their favorite team Liberei Fatali.

Ladies and gentlemen please

Would you bring your attention to me?

For a feast for your eyes to see

An explosion of catastrophe

He walked through the small path in the crowd quietly. He may have been one of the late ones in their first match, but now, it appeared he may be the earliest member on the scene. Of course, he didnt know which his opponents would be, but he had seen the general end results to know which teams advanced and which ones hadn't.

Like nothing you’ve ever seen before

Watch closely as I open this door

Your jaws will be on the floor

After this you’ll be begging for more

The security personnel which noticed him walking down the cleared path would open the gates into the structure for him when he neared the building.

Welcome to the show

Please come inside

Ladies and gentlemen

So this was to be it, was it? The end of this little dance with death that had began exactly one year ago on this very day; the day the Vice-Captain of a fighter team came face to face with the proxy of Death upon Gaia. The day that fighter became branded with an inescapable mark that sealed his fate to the hands of the Reapers.

No... this was not to be the end, only another milestone along the road. Here, in this Clockwork Purgatory, was the day that Ryugin once more crossed paths with the Reapers.

"Tch."

The Captain of Team a** Tear brushed past people in the crowd as he headed towards the door. Even though there was a taped off area so that the contestants and judges wouldn't have to deal with the crowds, Joshua wasn't really one to follow tradition. Wearing a loose bomber jacket and a pair of dark shades, nobody in the crowd seemed to recognize him as he pushed past them. The tournament security even stopped him as he ducked under the tape and began walking towards the door - at least, until they recognized him and hastily backed off.

People gave room to a man with no smile and the potential to level a city.

The sound of the crowd roaring was enough to drown out the sounds of helicopters overhead; circling the tower with news crews inside, hoping that their cameras might be the first to get a shot through a window or a broken section of wall that the other networks just weren't carrying. Like a pack of vultures.

The Captain grunted, sliding the shades up onto his forehead as he watched them and listened to the sounds of a bloodthirsty civilization. His eyes shut, having had enough of the bright sun, and for a moment he just listened to the world.

"Oh yes... there will be blood."

And the crowd cheered.

There was no shortage of steps leading up the inside of the clock tower, it seemed to stretch on for an eternity simply going up and up into that dark expanse of the tower above, while the ground had long since disappeared into the blackness of the dimly lit stairwell beneath them.

The arena was at the top, the very pinnacle of the clock tower where the machinery was housed. Gears, cogs, counterweights, and spinning rods were the battlefield; a large gear sitting flat in the middle of it all that would be center stage. A catwalk ran around the walls of the tower on two levels; one at the base and one higher up, crossing the center of the clock face. Dozens of cameras had been fastened to the walls in various places, positioned so as to catch every movement in the structure for the drooling masses.

The Captain took only a moment to look over the inside of the building, and then leaped over the rail and onto the spinning gear in the center; shedding his jacket onto the catwalk.

"Nice place you've got here."

He tipped his head, looking over the rim of the shades as everyone began to file into the Clockwork Purgatory.

Durem.

A wastleland of crime, pollution, and garbage, both human an otherwise. Just a few block away sirens still flashed from where 4 city blocks and one entire office building had been entirely wasted.

A smirk could been seen beneath the shadow of a hood.

Maximos stood in front of the hatch at the roof of the giant machination, a black and white box lay at his feet. Below him stood dozens of camera' crews, his teamates, Ryugin and....him.

He knew this day had to come, eventually it would come back to him.

With a scrape his booted foot kicked the box into the hatch, completing the motion with a step, off the ledge into the hatch. And down he went. He couldnt just let the contents of the cooler go splat but gravity would pull it first so he had to make this giant machine work for him. The best way to learn ones terrain is to use it.

A quick flip followed by a twist in mid air let him dodge a support beam, and slip right between the cogs of a massive gear before it crushed him.

Two hands gripped a horizontal shaft turning two gears, using it as a gymnastic bar Maximos gripped it and swung, his two feet coming up to catch the dropped box and flick it back up into the air giving hm a few more precious seconds. Those seconds were used to complete the loop on the bar, releasin with enough force to drive him downward again. With a smack two feet landed on a gear, Maximos ran down it as if hurrying down a flight of stares, kicking off the gear onto another, and then another and then another in rapid sucession, hopping between gears to drop himself lower and lower.

With a clop, he landed on a flat gear, reaching his hands out to catch the glistening box...only to miss.

With a woosh the prize when carrening down into a tight mess of cogs...he had to follow. He dove down the center of the gear, twisting slightly, flipping, and then arching his back just barely dodging a series of twitching cogs. Click...click...click...the second ticked away, a gear closed just behind the box. His hands smacked on its surface, absorbing the impact and shoving him back and off, into a back flip, right onto a long vertical shaft. Using his momentum he spun around, gripping the shaft with his hands but using his feet to add exta pull...the team was about to come into view. The box was just out of range, it was a risky gambit, but he had no choice! With a jerk of his legs he launched himself off the pole, soaring downwards, with a last minute snatch of the arms he grabbed the box. His right leg flung out, just in time to nimbly land smack on the catwalk.

And for him to play off the difficulty by gracefully stepping on...the box slipping out of his hands and smacking onto the catwalk with a loud thunk. The ice in the cooler had begun to melt, and leather gloves just dont grip that well...

Destiny waits for no man, Maximos had arrived.

[SaGa Frontier - Melody of Time]

The pungent smell of the city was no treat to outsiders, but the man was more than accustomed to it by now. He had arrived to the city no less than twenty minutes prior and would waste no time reaching his destination. It was all a matter of pushing past the cloud of people who polluted the area around the clock tower. Normally this landmark was overlooked by all but tourists, but today was different.

Tonight, blood would rain down on the streets below.

All forms of life were irrevocably ignored, their cheers and jeers going unheard. He was focused on matters of an entirely different nature, ones that could affect more than just the outcome of this tournament. The security didn't even stop him, his FIGHTER and breastplate being unmistakable proof of that he was indeed Captain of the Ryugin. It would be but a moment before Silver Moonblade began his accent to face those who would appose him.

Darkness...

The way to the top was dimly lit, which complimented his own personal tastes. He, and the rest of his team, would soon be facing what could easily be their toughest challenge thus far. Their mark: a** Tear. From what he had heard and seen on PayPerView, they were powerful to the point where they might be the ones to destroy Glacier. Not only that, they had the ruthlessness and skill to back themselves up. Could people like Nayko and Ryugi, who are ruled by their morales and beliefs, really stand up to such people?

At the half-way point to his destiny.

No. There was no question that they would be victorious. There was just no way they could lose again after everything they've been through. Moonblade had a personal score left to settle, which he whole heartily intended to do. No one would strike Glacier down before them. NO ONE. It was all a matter of pride; this may be his only chance to find the Scion of Flame if their team split up.

Reaching the top, he eyed the surroundings carefully. It was all what one could expect to find of a clock tower. However, there were other beings about, all of which he recognized from around the hotel and on the Television. But there was one man who stood out the most, one who he whole intended to put in his place personally.

Silver shot a glance at Tzenidaar, threatening to put a hole through the brute's skull with his gaze. He could do nothing but let out a small laugh, grinning maliciously to himself.

These people are so dead...

7Kraun

The chimera just sort of squatted on a smaller gear as it spun around. If he hopped off, he would have been real dizzy, since the tiny hairs in the ears were all moving in one direction with the rotation, his balance would have been thrown off as soon as he stopped.

Joshua Wrote:

"Nice place you've got here."

"Not really..." Tzenidaar cut in. The place was alive, but at the same time, completely dead. It moved, it made sounds, it rumbled a little, even ticked, but there was no life, each and every gear and cog, it was cold, dead.

"So who we fightin' today, boss?" Tzenidaar asked as he leaned forward until he would fall onto the large gear below. He didnt try to get up until a while later for his body to adjust to the movement again, and then he would reach out and grab the railing of the catwalk as the gear would pass so that he may stop onto stable ground.

But the question wouldnt really have to be answered, as the captain of the other team would step in at that moment and do some arrogant act or so. Too bad the problem was that Tzenidaar was too busy puking out the large amount of alcohol he had imbibed beforehand over the railing and down into the lower parts of the tower. Hangovers and other effects of alcohol weren't too big of a deal to him, he seemed to recover quickly, but spinning around the whole time and then stopping would disorient anyone, it was simply the way the body worked.

8Liquid Lights

"I can tell right now that I'm gonna have to do some re-modeling."

Stryphe approached his teammates with a smirk. His massive, out-of-place halberd was held in his right hand and rested on the corresponding shoulder. The weapon would slide away from him- the direct result of a relinquished grip and a slight tilt of the shoulder. It was annoying to carry in a place like this. The sound it would make would give a listener the impression that he'd hurled it at the floor or dropped it from some great heighth, but no- the sum'b***h was just that heavy.

"...Not sure which'll come first, though..."

He leaned towards the constantly moving battlefeild and crossed forearms over the railing. His right hand motioned to the machination before them and, with that cocky, sly smirk, he set out to make a friend.

"...all the spinning..."

Then his index finger shot towards Silver. His eyes narrowed dangerously.

"...or this sorry pedestrians face."

With a slight tilt of his head, he motioned towards the bottom of the tower.

"Crowd's suppose to wait outside, pal."

[Final Fantasy 7 - Seven Degrees of Judgment]

Joshua stood at the axis of the center gear, his arms folded over his chest as he looked up over the rim of his shades at the catwalk leading out from the stairs... people were ascending them; he could see the flicker of their souls through the wall as they climbed the staircase. The first to arrive was the Ryugin Captain... but he wasn't the one that mattered.

The gear rotated around again as Joshua waited... slowly spinning in its path as it carried the TAT Captain with it in a circle. Moonblade was still the only one to arrive when it brought Joshua back to where he had been... thirty seconds it took that gear to turn fully.

The suspense was terrible, wasn't it?

"Where are your lackeys?" he shouted, the words echoing off of every turning cog in the cavernous interior of their Clockwork Purgatory.

The Captain would wait until the sound of his words died down before he spoke again, in a low, grave tone.

"There is a marked man among you."

A man marked for death.

"Bring him to me."

Bring him or face the consequences.

"Today is his day of judgment."

He would not move from that spot until the Ryugin sent their sacrifice. He would not leave the ring until the Ryugin sent him the marked man. They would hand him over, or Joshua would crush whatever proxy the coward sent in his place until there were none left to hide behind.

10User 367130

a** Tear was interesting, to say the least. There was a man ralphing over the railing, another who seemingly resembled the reaper itself, and people spinning all over. Psychotic would probably be a better diagnosis, but he wasn't one to judge.

Silver completely ignored Stryphe's remark, merely rolling his eyes. Instead, he payed his attention to Joshua, who seemed to want to do in one of his teammates. Closing his eyes, he uttered out in response.

"The others will be arriving soon."

He opened his eyes after a brief pause, possibly to see the side of the man's head. Joshua was rotating, after all.

"So... which one is it? Reinhart, or perhaps Ryugi?"

Grinning, he drew Dragoonair with his right hand and pointed it directly at a** Tear's Captain. The spear itself was a work of art, more fit to be in a museum than a battle field. Created by what looked like two silver rods fused together flawlessly, it had intricate carvings of scales going down the shaft. At the edge of the weapon was what looked to be the head of a silver dragon, which exhaled the leap shape blade of the weapon.

In his current pose, the ruby "eyes" of Dragoonair would appear to be staring at Joshua.

"If blood's what you want, I'd be more than happy to satisfy your appetite. Too bad we both have other plans."

He was just dying to get in the ring, staying out the last match. However, waiting for a round for Josh to duke it out with someone wouldn't kill him. So long as he got to fight this time around.

11themightyjello

The Captain laughed.

"You wouldn't last a minute."

That couldn't be true, not judging by what he had shown in the last round. Maybe five minutes, but there was no way he would beat the captain of a team in under a minute. Not unless -

"If you come out here right now, I'll not hold anything back."

His neck snapped to the side, issuing out a crack that would have been heard even at the bottom of the stairwell as the vertebrae reseated themselves.

"No games. No mercy. I will tear you up."

12User 367130

It was tempting, really. He started to take a step forward, but then caught himself. He didn't want to be disqualified; it was against the tournament rules to start a round until at least three members were present on each side. While it was tempting to bash Joshua's skull through the wall right there and then, Silver didn't want to ******** things up for the rest of his team.

It showed, too.

"Heh... aren't you confident."

Lowering his weapon, the man brushed the his hair back with his left hand.

"Maybe some other time, when you aren't delusional."

With that he merely shrugged, keeping control over his anxiety. His teammates better show up soon, or else...

13Maximos

Silver Moonblade Wrote:

Or else...

Nothing.

Maximos couldnt help but laugh from his perch on the cat walk. Just a little chortle, it was more sad than funny. Sure, he could see that swirl fo red as Silver got oh so riled up. And then he stopped...sure, he would play it off as overconfidence....but Joshua would have fought him, irregardless of the rules. Silver didnt stop because of his "supreme control", he stopped because he was afraid.

Even Tzennidar could have told the difference between a man who would have loved to get into the ring for himself, and a man who was relieved that the person in front of him had not called him out.

Silver had talk, but zero walk.

He had made the mistake of running off at the mouth, without backing it up. Joshua had a word for people like that...Maximos had learned it the other night...

Punk.

It fit.

How much better of person he would be if he had just remained silent, and let his skills talk for him. But then again...some cannot act the part of someone they are not.

The Shadow didnt feel the need to "trash talk", he just watched letting out a chuckle. All view of his eyes was gone save for a non-descrip white glow in his right eye, for all any watcher knew, he was laughing at a joke that just refreshed in his mind. Though in truth he was laughing at a joke he had just seen.

He turned around, leaning his back against the safety rail, there as nothing to see yet. Nothing really worth the effort. He wasnt here.

14Cristopher Reinhart

It was safe to say Reinhart was excited about the up coming fight, one of the opponents was a long lost friend of his who he ached to clash fists with once more. Like most everyone else he'd entered through the front door guarded by the HoH staff after he'd pushed his way through the crowd. Ascending the poorly lit stairs was more of a comfort than a hinder as it gave him a bit of time to think things through. More like ask himself some questions that would soon be answered. What would happen here today? Would they emerge from this challenge victorious or be cut from HoH early this year?

With his hands tucked in his jacket the only noise that accompanied him was the sound of his steps as the stairs seemed to go up never ending. At least one of his questions had been answered, he was here, he was well, to what extent he wasn't sure but they'd meet again soon. If he counted the steps he'd swear they were in the thousands and it looked as if he was, as his eyes were kept lowered. This round wasn't about his team really, for him this round was to see him again, to face him again, the friend he'd longed to meet in battle once more.

Maximos.

Defeated or victorious he was here for that fight and that fight alone, no one would deprive him of it even if the rest of his team decided to bar his path. It was a fight destined before HoH, it was a fate that had yet to be completed, it was something that HAD to happen, no matter what. Once closer to the top the noise of the tower grew louder in his ears ripping him from his thoughts. The last step was taken, there was no turning back, this was it, he stood before the people present but paid no one any mind. His eyes simply shot up to Maximos' perch with a neutral expression only to catch the man's back.

Ice blue eye, blood red eye they both held the same request and same demand as the words raced through his head.

"I'm here, I've come for you. Will you fight me again today Max?"

At the end of the steps he stood, he eyes not leaving Maximos for a second as he waited for the man to acknowledge him, his request, and his demand.

15Kraun

"Ptew... Ungh... -BEEP-" Tzenidaar pushed himself up from the railing without even a thought of where the vomit would had fallen, maybe on someone who had entered the tower, maybe not. Luckily, those in control of the cameras and sound would have blipped out his... colourful vocabulaty.

He turned around as he spat out whatever aftertaste there was in his mouth to look at the guy from the other team and his big talk.

Maximos could be thinking it, but Tzenidaar would be saying it.

"So what? You need your teammates to come back you up? You SCURR'D?"

16Joseph Brown

There was a soft crack of steel, as something made it's presence, and weight, known.

Stepping forth with a regal gait, and mantle that covered a towering form, the Judge took his position to the side.

The HoH Judges are the supreme enforcers of tournament law for the duration of each match. Each Judge wields extraordinary legal power in his or her own stage over fighters. In addition to functioning as "legal administrators", they are also charged with the task of guarding the spectators who may be around the stage.

Every Judge has archives on every participant on file, and can simulate the powers of a variety of them in order to target its opponent's weaknesses. This was due to the data collected via fighters, in which DNA samples, skin samples, tissue, blood, etc-- were all analyzed and broken down once a FIGHTER came into contact with the actual wearer.

With the appearance of the Judge, the match was slated to begin.

17Maximos

Maximos didnt say a word, but then again he didnt need to say a word. This was beyond that. With gentle steps, and the clack of boots against the metal grating of the cat walk, Maximos turned around.

That eye, that one eye peered down through the hood at his target, at that one man, at him. His cheeks bent ever so slightly to reveal a grin.

Thats was all that need be said about that. It was agreeance, it was understanding, it was that click beyond what words allowed. There was no need for threats or challenges, in eye contact they understood each others strength.

A fated battle would be held here today. For now they need only wait.

18User 367130

Kraun Wrote:

"So what? You need your teammates to come back you up? You SCURR'D?"

"You wish. A disqualification, or a card of any sort for that matter, is undesirable."

Silver grinned, his tone a little more light hearted now. There was no need to be tense the entire time; he was going to beat down the chimera, anyways. He was here for the win and the thrill of the fight. That's it. he couldn't care less what anyone thought of him.

He nodded to Reinhart as he entered the stage, acknowledging his presence.

19Liquid Lights

He would glance over at the arrival of another one of the opposing team- this glance would reveal Cristopher's intentions and would cause Stryphe to then look over at Maximos.

"Hey, Josh!" Stryphe interjected from the catwalk, "Obviously the guy's not having it- let Maxi in."

He reached into his jacket pocket and produced a brutally smash pack of cigarettes he'd picked up off the mall floor days ago. He did what little he had to do to rip open the top of the pack and start doubtfully fishing through the remains.

"Or me- maybe smiley over there won't find me quite so intimidating. Either way we'll be one step closer to getting our BBQ on."

20Ryugi Kazamaru

Not a single member of my team is scared of anything that you have to offer, so shove it, chimera.

The sound of heavy boots on the catwalk surrounding the center stage would signal the arrival of the Ryugin Vice-Captain. He wasn't going to make a flashy entrance; he didn't need to. He was here, and that was all that mattered. The naysayers wouldn't get their fun, Ryugi Kazamaru had shown up for the match. He wasn't going to run from a fight simply because the odds seemed to be against him. If anyone knew Ryugi they would know he'd sooner die than abandon his teammates.

Today he would face whatever came, and he would beat it, no matter what...

21themightyjello

The Captain at center stage watched, arms folded over his chest... and at long last, he cracked a smile.

"You made me wait, bad form... now come down here and fight for whatever pride you have. None of you are afraid, is that it? Good."

He threw up a finger, pointing it directly at the Ryugin captain.

"Special rules! Anyone on your team can step in whenever they want if they feel this son'b***h needs one of you to save him. Do you accept?"

If they agreed, they would have the advantage of numbers; making the fight more or less a 4 vs. 1 in the Clockwork Purgatory.

22User 367130

"Heh. Such a foolish offer will lead you to an early grave."

He was skeptical, but he'd humor the man; there's no way they'd do a four man gang-bang.

"Fine. I Accept, under the condition that the same goes for your team when you get your a** reamed."

With the character limit removed, this round was bound to get very, very messy. He could only hope that the cleaning crew had lots of bleach.

23Kraun

Tzenidaar hopped up onto the railing, wings opening up for a second to adjust his balance before folding back, revealing the tattered black cloth which lined the insides of them and formed something of a membrane, it even dripped a little. Squatting - he seemed to do that a lot rather than stand around, lean on something, or even sit down properly - he perched himself up to watch the fight.

He couldnt help but wonder, with such odd speculations, that the bossman had something up his sleeve.

24themightyjello

Joshua didn't even need to reply, everyone in the Clockwork Purgatory knew what it would have been. Something that included "tuck it back and put on a sundress" or something close to that.

He just nodded, took one step forwards, and motioned for Kazamaru to 'bring it'. The back of the boy's neck would start to itch.

25Liquid Lights

So this was now effectively a battle royal in the Durem clocktower. Not quite, just yet, but if one person from either team jumped in things could get messy pretty fast. Then again, there was also a solid chance that not a single extra person would make a move. Stryphe would be hard pressed just to control himself, having not fought in the last round. Simply put, he was beyond ready for a fight.

He popped a crooked, sorry looking cigarette into his mouth and shoved the doomed pack back into one of his jacket pockets.

26Kraun

And so it was, that some sort of four on four fight would commence. Except, what could be said through the thick layers of pride in everyone, would anyone want to be the first to jump in and save their teammate from getting their a** kicked? Because once such a move would be made, it would be clear which team had already given up, knowing that they could not combat the other on equal grounds, one on one.

For Tzenidaar, he simply watched the opposing team. If they jumped in, he would do the same. He believed the capt'n could handle himself, it was him which offered to take on their entire team by himself afterall, however, Tzenidaar wanted to fight, and with such rules installed, he would jump in as soon as a reason to do so was given.

27Ryugi Kazamaru

Forget the mark, forget the itch. Forget the crowd and the tournament. Forget the doubts that others had. None of that mattered. The ring, the opponent, and the fight, that was all that remained...

Ryugi didn't even bother to return the man's gesture with one of his own. He hopped onto the battlefield, landing on a gear some distance from his opponent, moving along it to keep his steady position, hands at the ready.

Joshua...

28Cristopher Reinhart

Eyes locked for a moment that seemed to last an eternity both telling all that need be said, yet saying nothing at all, there were no words. The only thing between these two individuals was a mirrored grin sent by one bounced by the other. It was agreed, promised even, they'd find themselves at the center of the stage and let it all go in the few glorious moments they would share. Their fates this day were sealed.

Turning his head to the stage he watched as Ryugi rose to the challenge from the opposing team Captain. Joshua's words rolled off his back, there was no need to interfere in anyone's fight, he wouldn't let anyone interfere in his. Not his team, not Maximos' team, it was their fight, something long int he making, something that needed to be done. With his hands still tucked in his pockets he kept his eyes lowred and leaned on one of the many beams in the tower.

Patience.

The word ran through his head as his eyes closed shutting out the Clocktower until it was their time.

29themightyjello

His left hand slipped up to his shoulder; gripping around the hilt of a sword sheathed across his back... a sword that had not tasted blood in years. Not a single man in Gaia had ever made him draw that weapon in battle.

It cried as it was pulled from the sheath. The blade hummed with a piercing ring, even held in the air between them in that Clockwork Purgatory.

"Defend yourself." Joshua advanced, holding the sword between them with the tip up.

A defensive stance? Maybe he was scared after all... or maybe...

[1]

30Ryugi Kazamaru

((Showering, just got back, sorry.))

Defensive stance...

This meant that a first attack by Ryugi would most likely be countered with ease, and leave him open for a counter attack. Ryugi's eyes narrowed and he pulled out the Sol Blade from its sheath, and prepared for the next move. [2]

[post 1]

31themightyjello

The next move was a simple thrust. Ryugi had drawn a weapon in the time that it had taken for Joshua to cross the distance between them in the Clockwork Purgatory. He did not slow his pace, and kept his right arm at his side, with the left holding the blade just as he had.

If Ryugi did nothing to actually respond to his advance, it would continue until the tip of the blade was pressed to Ryugi's throat, and then beyond. However, now that Ryugi had drawn a weapon things were officially underway, and if the boy made any movement to either dodge or attack now that the weapon was in his hand, Joshua would thrust the tip of the sword towards the underside of the boy's chin.

Defensive stances were made to be broken. Any movement to defend would leave an opening to attack, the only question as where that opening would present itself.

[2]

32Ryugi Kazamaru

Joshua closed the distance, and as he attempted to attack, Ryugi shot himself sideways with a burst of heat, moving himself out of the immediate threat range. At the same time he moved off, his image would blur for a moment before returning to normal. As he landed off to the side of another large gear, the Sol Blade would move into an attacking stance...[2]

[post 2]

33themightyjello

There was one sound that followed, and it was naught but the light scuff of Joshua's boot sole against the gear.

Ryugi had let him advance slowly and had done nothing to press his stance or force him to move any faster than that walk he had begun. Unless he was at a run, Joshua's stance provided adequate footing to be able to adjust as needed without throwing his balance off, even with the slow turning of the Clockwork Purgatory upon which they stood.

The boy had performed a sidestep dodge with a bust of momentum; a maneuver that had quite a bit of potential, but only if utilized properly.

The tip of Joshua's blade struck the afterimage, and snapped to the side immediately. The light thrust would have been enough to pierce flesh, it was in no way a feint, but the style of swordplay that is used with a rapier-type sword was not one of forceful movements; the strikes emphasized grace and a flow of motion.

His elbow turned to the side, his stance dropped almost fully, and the sword screamed for blood as it cut through the air in a half-circle arc. First dropping down nearly to the ground as Joshua went into his sudden crouch, and then coming up from below.

Ryugi had stepped into an offensive stance. With a heavier sword this meant that he had it held back in preparation for a strike, or held in a high guard to bring down upon the head of an enemy. In either case the tip of Joshua's sword would sail right under it and for the boy's midsection.

As his opponent's sword attempted to cut towards Ryugi, a bright flash of light would appear for a split second, milliseconds before Joshua would be hit with a resounding blast of energy powerful enough to send him flying backwards several feet across the spinning gears of the clock tower.

Quote: *Adamant’s Protection -

Level 2 Aurora Field Attack. Spherical shield of photons with a diameter of seven feet that soaks up mid-level damage attacks, then strikes back with a starburst of tiny exploding projectiles -1 turn charge for each additional set of 200-damage sustained-

The blurred speed of Ryugi helped to disguise the blur that creating this attack caused. The tiny blasts would barely be visible at the speed they were traveling, but at the extremely close range his opponent had attacked from, they would be in his face before he would even see them coming. If the man somehow managed to avoid the practically point-blank blast of energy into his body, Ryugi could easily counter the attack by moving himself away with another boost...

  • absolutely nothing.

The boy was running scared, hiding behind tricks and illusions. Joshua was a straightforward individual; he liked things that delivered what they promised, and didn't try to sneak around the back way. And above all, he hated cowards who hid behind their illusions.

Ryugi's tricks had bought him three feet. Joshua stood three feet back from where he had been, with blood running over the left side of his face. His left hand dropped, letting his sword fall onto the turning gear with a metallic clatter.

The boy wasn't worth it. Maybe he'd expected too much from someone that had earned a mark like that... maybe the boy was just a victim of circumstance, and had taken a few too many steps past the sign that said 'keep off the grass'... But clearly, the boy wasn't worth soiling her finish on him.

"Still running away, are you? Afraid to stand your ground? Alright... we can play that way, then... If you want to run..."

The Captain rolled his head on his shoulders and clenched his fists at his sides.

Anyone who had watched Joshua in the earlier fight, and any eyewitnesses to what had happened in Durem months ago would attest: Joshua used an open-fist fighting stance, using palm strikes rather than fists. This was something completely different.

A drop of black blood dripped from his cheek and landed beside his boot.

"I'll chase you."

No matter where you run... in this Clockwork Purgatory.

This technique allows Ryugi to use the ambient heat from his flame techniques for defense or attacking purposes, damage consists of burns, forceful blasts, and heated air blades for cutting. By using a similar property of his Shoushitsu attack Ryugi can cause fire abilities to blast forth from glowing energy runes placed about his person. The rune is energy in nature, and does not need to be in contact with a solid object to work.

*Shoushitsu (Destruction by Fire)-

A rune appears under the feet of Ryugi and the opponent for a split second before a massive erupting pillar of flames explodes from the ground with thunderous force, and intense heat, severely burning the opponent and sending them skyward with terrible force - Damage dependant on energy placed into blast -

[6]The flash from the light attack would serve to temporarily blind an opponent, or at least make it difficult for them to see what was headed their way. As Joshua would get hit by the light attack, Ryugi would already be preparing for his next attack. As Joshua would be recovering from the light blast, a semi-continuous blast of powerful flames would erupt towards his form, created by a rune of energy in front of Ryugi, and hidden from view by the flash of light.[2]

As the blast erupted towards his opponent, Ryugi would jump and dash off once more towards the center of the ring, keeping tabs on his opponent's position with every available sense at his disposal.

The sword cut through the air between them, and the flames halted. The sword held patiently out to the side, and the flames turned back. The sword slid back into the sheath upon Joshua's back, and the flames washed over Ryugi like a firestorm.

Gale was her name, the sword in his hand... and she had power over the air. Before Ryugi could blink he would be set upon by his own attack turned back against him, and the driving force of the flame cyclone that was created by the combating winds would be more than enough to send a man of his size straight into the far wall.

Flame is nothing. Fire does not exist. Light and heat are what makes up fire, it is little more than burning gas... gas that is subject to the will of the air around it.

As promised, Joshua gave chase. He crossed the distance between where they had stood, crossed the gear where Ryugi had been sent back, and even charged blindly across the empty space between the edge of that spinning wheel and the wall of their Clockwork Purgatory.

If Ryugi was driven into the wall then Joshua's left fist would follow straight into his midsection as a blue-white aura engulfed it.

That was where he was wrong.

Joshua had charged right through it.

The energy that had gathered around his hand was of a certain type that was used for a number of things. One of which was creating barriers.

Around the fist the energy had gathered and molded into a shell over the hand, creating a gauntlet of positive energy that wrapped around the fist and the forearm entirely. As Ryugi's newest eruption flared up, the 'gauntlet' that had been created shifted into striking form.

Slamming someone with a raw mass of energy was crude and childish, not something fit for a high caliber fighter to do. True skill is refinement, not simply flailing about and hoping that something works. True skill is technique, not simply a bull rush. In the moment before it struck, the energy around the fist fired off like a rocket from behind and molded a barrier ahead.

With both the added force of his own energy flying into the strike and the fact that Ryugi's rune was designed specifically to send him skywards, Joshua's little gutshot had turned into -

"SHORYUKEN!!!"

However, with the gut shot now being an uppercut, it would be at an angle that would drive the blade-like wedge that had formed ahead of the punch straight into Ryugi's chest, underneath whatever protection a breastplate might offer.

Excuse me, while I kiss the sky~!

Of course all this was being covered on live TV.

"Oh! That's gotta hurt!" Rick said live from HoH Square, "That was one of his most powerful attacks and he charged right through it!"

"Our special guest analysist Stephen Colbert is here to give his opinion on this fight. What do you predict is in Ryugi's future?"

"Pain, Rick. Lots of pain. That Joshua is a godless killing machine.

"Oooo... How will last year's Silver Medal Silver Dragons pull out of this?" He flipped the fade switch, "Find out after a word from our sponsors."

Through all odds, Team Ryugin had made it to the next match. The intimidating structure of the clock tower loomed over the crowd of spectators. Nayko, feeling that twinge of anxiousness searing from his bowels, walked hastily towards the main entrance. A reporter, clad in a fine suit and wearing square spectacles stepped in front of him with a pen scribbling against a small note pad. “Excuse me, Nayko, how does it feel to be late for your next match? With both teams already competing, you stand to be the only member of either team not present, how does that take you?”

“Late?” Nayko hadn’t realized how long he had been out. He assumed, given the location of the sun hidden behind the clouds, that he’d have more than enough time. However, he found that, obviously, he was mistaken.

Quote: His left hand slipped up to his shoulder; gripping around the hilt of a sword sheathed across his back... a sword that had not tasted blood in years. Not a single man in Gaia had ever made him draw that weapon in battle.

It cried as it was pulled from the sheath. The blade hummed with a piercing ring, even held in the air between them in that Clockwork Purgatory.

That wail of wind and the scream of bloodlust struck the nervous angel with a fear beyond measure. His eyes turned toward the top of the clock tower and gazed at the slowly moving hands of the enormous clock face. Someone was fighting, right now. He needed to be up there with his team. Though he felt immensely weaker when compared to his teammates, he knew that his gift of tact would aid them considerably. Why take the stares when you have perfectly fine wings, he thought.

His pearled wings flared out brushing past a few spectators and knocking into the back of a reporter as he prepared for flight. “Forgive me!” He shouted as he leapt into the air. His heart raced with the anticipation of this next match. He no more wanted to go into this arena then he wished to fly head first into the mouth of Hell. It seemed that fate intervened with the choice of location. Time was the one thing Celestials didn’t ever worry about. They were immortal, in the sense that they never aged any more than they wished. How odd that the human’s patronized time by dedicating their short lives to it. Perhaps that’s why they worshiped angels and gods.

Quote: As Joshua closed, Ryugi's right eye would wince slightly, nearly imperceptibly, before a massive white rune would appear under his feet, encompassing both his and Joshua's forms before a massive pillar of pure and unbridled light energy would erupt from the rune under Ryugi, the metal of the gear melting slightly from the massive burst of searing heat before Joshua's fist could impact. It was one of Ryugi's most powerful attacks, and Joshua had charged right into it.

The shockwave from the blast nearly knocked Nayko right out of the sky. Veering away from the clock tower, he took a moment to regain his composure. That blast wasn’t something found in any normal fighter. Nayko knew it, because it roared in him like it did every other Celestial. The Holy Light of God was a blessing that the Seraphim gifted each newly ascended Celestial. For Ryugi to use it, meant that he was divine beyond Nayko’s own heavenly worth. His brother’s dear friend continued to surprise him, but not as much as the man Ryugi fought did. He pressed through the blast of pure energy as if it were a ray of sunshine on a summer’s day. These people, these hellish people, were of a caliber Nayko had never encountered. Then, before logic could cause him to flee, a strange sensation gripped his heart. He was curious; curious to know if he could best these strange demons. Demon! They were demons!

The years of persecution taught Nayko that any spawn from Hell must be eradicated from this world or the next. Pressing past his curiosity now flared an untamable urge to wrench their heads from their necks. Plunging forward through the sky, a roar of thunder signaled the coming of rain that poured from the clouds as if the heavens were bleeding. A surge of concentrated water piled in front of the sailing angel and crashed into the face of the clock and broke through the thick glass and wall. Nayko soared through opening like hawk swooping down to catch its prey. His body wet, and his wits about him, he maneuvered between two catwalks and drifted down onto a gear. Water dripped from hair and feathers and splattered across the gear he stood on. His eyes, blue and glowing with the commitment to purge the tower of evil, sought out Silver and Reinhart. He knew Ryugi would be able to pacify this Hell Spawn, but would the other foul and despicable creatures be able to subdue their rage and maintain a code of ethics within this sacred tournament?

Nayko refused to allow such barbaric and monstrous creatures the opportunity to subjugate his team, and newly found friends. Nayko’s honor for true testing of strength, and his obedience to the call of the Higher contested in his heart as he walked up the vertically rotating gear. Stepping onto the catwalk, the angel ushered himself to his captain’s side and inclined his head at the fight below. “Captain, do you realize that we are dealing with the abominations of man’s insurrection? These Hell Spawn will not hesitate to pounce upon Ryugi if he leaves himself open. We must be wary and prepare to go into battle ourselves. We mustn’t wager Ryugi’s life on the guidelines of the tournament. The Higher will bless us if we choose to vanquish these demons, so do not restrict yourself from slaying them immediately, sir.”

With his duty seeming to be fulfilled, Nayko turned to Reinhart and gave him a quick nod. His nervousness washed away with the water descending from his body. The four men of this disgraceful team each held an aura of unknowable power, and each one maintained the guise of superiority. Typical Hell Spawn, Nayko thought. He’d slain rabbles of demon, both pathetic and proud. He could take these four, so long as the Seraphim blessed them, they would come out victorious.

44User 367130

Silver laughed at what Nayko said, but not in a mocking way. He found it quite humorous (and fitting, actually) that he flew in and openly accused them of being hell spawn. Though Nayko as over exaggerating, and there was no way ALL of them were physically demonic, he took heed of his word.

"You're concern is noted, but we'll be fine. We've dealt with people like this before."

He literally pulled Nayko aside, speaking in a hushed tone.

"There's been a rule change that allows anyone to jump in at their discretion. Whatever happens, don't interfere with the fight. Unless two other people jump him or something."

With that he released Nayko. It wasn't that it wasn't supposed to be overheard. It just seemed to have more impact on people when he did this. Regardless, now everyone was up to speed. He didn't even have to worry about Reinhart; the ******** wouldn't jump in if Ryugi's arms were being torn off.

Which was why he Reinhart made such a great addition to his team.

45Maximos

The fight had begun. As all battles, there was a hope for a surprise, a hope for interest...a hope that it wasnt boring. Maximos watched with that same smirk to see what champions He had chosen to ally himself with.

Power...power...power...power...

Thats all this boy had. Every attack aimed to either throw his opponent away from him, or make him flee. Could he even fight? Was that massive sword for display only?

Pathetic...

Maximos spat the word out in a deadly cold tone...a tone a particular Reaper had used not but a year before. Ryugi spent the entire time running...Joshua spent the time fighting. The wounds on Joshua's face, the sign of a fighter. The rush of Ryugi's feet...the sign of a coward.

This...was boring. And it showed. His cheeks drooped, the smile faded, and he gazed as if he was watching paint dry...the paint drying would have been more interesting...at least it would be going somewhere.

The Shadow couldnt even bear to look at this mockery. It was like watching a parent chase a child around the house trying to get him to take a bath...this was...pathetic. And through no fault of Joshua's, at least he was fighting, a real fight. But this dragon-boy didnt even have enough honor to give him that...

They say you learn alot about a man by the way he fights. Maximos had seen enough to learn all he would need to know about Ryugi. And his face showed it all.

He was disgusted.

His lips were stern, his cheeks held no joy. His eyes were forced to gaze down before as he was on a physically higher platform. Now he gazed down, as watching a barbaric wanderer insulting this contest with haphazard combat. The very same manuevers that cost him the match the year before.

He had seen enough, he turned around folding his arms over his chest and closing his eyes. He feared that his competition may have been spoiled by this...."company", he kept. Though his hopes were high.

Still the shadow had to ponder Ryugi's words...how did he know Tzen was a chimera? It was listed in no records. Maximos didnt even know. And no one, not a soul, called him by that name. It was like Ryugi had an amazing talent for knowing things no other human being knew.

What it really was...was annoying. For thousands of years of combat training, and all he had learned to do was talk big and run...

No wonder every member of this team save for one carried the stink of fear on them. Sure...they had been talked down to, but there efforts to prove the insults wrong were met with a building stack of evidence to prove there discreditors correct. Moonblade was more afraid of a disqualification than his own honor? A game over his own personal dignity? Sad. Ryugi claimed to not be afraid and spent the fight running...all this talk...if they had only accepted the challenge with respect, with honor, and did there best, they would recieve the same honor and respect...but no...Respect is earned not given.

Joshua had only extended the offer out of insult. Bullies usually needed to gang up in groups in order to have any strength...He wouldnt have been so hard if the man was at least trying...but he wasnt...he was running!

And these insults were sadly all they had earned. It wasnt that TAT was better, it was that there opponents seemed to refuse to be anything more than worse...

It struck Maximos with pity to imagine he was on that team.

A champion amongst children...the poor man...

46Kraun

The glass face of the clock shattered.

"Yo," Tzenidaar muttered without looking away from the fight, "Looks like your opponent showed." his statement was directed at Stryphe. It was already obvious that Maximos had picked out Reinhart, and that left Tzenidaar with the captain of the other team and Stryphe to sit back and wait.

It appeared to be a reoccuring theme, fighting the captain. But that was fine with him, they were suppose to be the best on their team right? He would put the beat down on him and then take from him something to mark it, as he had picked up a few of Sierra's feathers and attached them in his hair. A trophy. The only question was what he would take off of this man.

The chimera hadnt watched Joshua's last fight, for he was watching Maximos's in the marketplace at the time instead, so his opinion would be based completely on what he saw. Maybe it was just him, but these fights all... sort of seemed the same. People just kept running and running until they were put in a position where they had to defend themselves. Its as if they didnt know how to actually start a fight. Wasnt this a fighting tournament and not a 'defend yourself' tournament?

But none of his thoughts would show in his mannerism or appearance, his face was blank, empty, seemingly thoughtless, machine-like. Like the man whome he was mainly based on, he picked up the habit of analysing many things as he watched like a computer, and combat was definately one of them. He may appear to be a dumb rude brute, but that didnt mean that the potential of his mind was not given by a genius.

Up, up and away. Into the darkness above the ring that rushed so quickly to meet them once the holy light that had banished it was gone. The ground beneath the two fighters had erupted in one concentrated burst like the ignition of a rocket booster -

What lied above, in that blackness? The spinning gears of a Clockwork Purgatory, the machine that would play host to the end of this conflict.

They had stood at the epicenter of an explosion, even with the wedge the TAT Captain had driven through the blast it could only deflect the brunt of the initial force. The force of the energy would still wash over the both of them. Maybe there was hope for the boy after all... it took cajones to play the masochist for an advantage. He couldn't help but smile even as he felt the boy's spray of blood on his forehead.

Joshua twisted his hand in Ryugi's gut; digging his fingertips underneath the bottom rib with a vice-like tenacity. He'd sooner tear the bone out than let go of the boy before this was through.

"We're not done yet..."

Arcs of crimson lightning began running down his arm as energy built up. Ryugi would have felt it now even though it hadn't been released yet. The power of unlife flowing through that arm.

"Last time, kid... I let you off with a warning..."

The negative energy crackled in the air; lashing off segments at each bar and gear the two passed during their ascent. The power continued building, even when so much bled off into the air and their surroundings. Each snap of energy left scorched marks on the machinery and caused the metal to rust and warp.

"I told you to find a reason!"

Gravity faltered... weight ceased to be for but a moment... they had reached the apex of their ascent.

"That's because - "

I fight because...

The pair would seemingly float in mid-air, as if a moment in time in this Clockwork Purgatory had been frozen by the events unfolding here today. The grinding of gears, the tick-tock of the pendulums moving, everything seemed to slow as the fighters hung there, clamped together in an embrace of pain, blood, and bruises.

I have...

Ryugi's red eyes would shine for a moment, and glare with determination, even if he wasn't looking at Joshua, the man would be able to feel it on his person

S O M E T H I N G - T O - P R O T E C T ! ! !

Quote: (Special) F/L-H *Limit Release-

Ryugi uses his whole body as a portal to the Elemental Realms of Fire and Light to unleash a massive blast of flames, a famous "Battle Finisher", intense damage -1 turn preparation, 2 turn recovery with full exhaustion after- Note: Cannot be charged further for more damage

With a thunderous explosion of kinetic force and searing roiling energy, Ryugi's entire body turned into a conduit for the energy of his element, the full unbridled power of the fire plane raging and roaring from his body. The initial blast was so powerful, almost like a bomb, the shock wave it created would shatter the clock faces all around the tower as the city of Durem took another blow from yet another fighter with something to prove. The glass would be shot outwards with such force, it would even clear the crowd and spectators watching the fight below, to land harmlessly around the outer edges of the area.

The heat at the core of the eruption, one foot away from Ryugi's body, was nearly two-thousand five-hundred degrees Celsius, as hot as if not hotter than molten magma. The temperature dropped rapidly the father one got from Ryugi, as Ryugi was not one to cause undo harm to anyone other than his target, and since he held in as much heat as he possibly could to attack Joshua without killing him. Ryugi couldn't be one to say what would happen to his opponent, taking this massive attack usually reserved for taking out opponents at some sort of a distance, at literally point blank range, but most any normal human being would be turned to ashes by the intense heat. The gears around them melted from the intense heat, and all the while, Joshua would be clamped onto by Ryugi's vice-like grip, the eruption lasting a full three seconds...[4]

He couldn't help but smile.

Something to protect, huh?

It sounded like a bolt of lightning.

Is it worth it, kid?

It felt like his body was coming apart.

The lives you'll have to end to protect that thing...

It was so warm.

The negative energy shot through his arm like a thunderbolt at the sound of Ryugi's confession. The power flowed out of Joshua and through Ryugi; blasting straight through without hesitation and tearing out the back of his shirt from the force of expulsion. Negative energy was the power of wounds, it was the power of pain and suffering, and it was the force which opposed life itself.

As it coursed through him the power would drain his life force, causing wounds to anything it touched and wracking his body with pain that exceeded his injuries. His entire torso would become a bruise as the capillaries in the tissue burst, and there would be internal hemorrhaging throughout his midsection... however, the kid wasn't so soft. Maybe he'd pull through. Maybe he'd get back up. That clown with the spear sure had enough faith in him for that.

...then came the fires of heaven...

The light engulfed them both, as neither one was willing to let go of the opponent; a light so intense that it was like a miniature sun falling from the heavens to the earth.

A ball of white fire crashed into the great cog in the center of the Clockwork Purgatory and broke against it like a wave, washing the flames over the edges to continue their decent into the black abyss below.

When it was over neither the boy nor the man remained. In their places there was a man, no doubt a man whom would begin coughing up blood as soon as he was able to draw breath again, but a man nonetheless who had stood his ground against impossible odds... and there was a demon, standing stark naked and wearing only ash as his skin...

"Is it worth it?"

The burned figure spoke as he lifted, his hand digging deeper into the soft flesh under Ryugi's rib and hoisting the man from the gear upon which they stood; which still glowed orange from the heat. The burned man stared directly into the others eyes as he asked.

"Is it worth the lives you will take?"

With a sudden snap movement the burned man threw the Ryugin to the side. Ryugi's grip may have been as tight as ever, but it would not avail him as entire sections of crispy skin tore off in his balled fists as the boy was sent flying to the edge of the cog.

"Is that thing so damned important!?"

Joshua turned to face Ryugi. As he moved tears and cracks pulled open in his skin, shedding pieces of it as it crumbled. Blood flow stemmed from the open wounds and fell like black raindrops to the heated metal floor. Gobs of molten steel rained on both of them from the gears above, which had touched the sun. And yet... he was still smiling.

"Get up and give this an ending."

[6]The pain Ryugi had just faced was terrible. The wounds, mind numbing. But none of that mattered. NOTHING else mattered. He had to protect that thing, those things, no matter the cost.

More important...

Ryugi's body ached, but he shunted the pain to the side. He was battered, bruised, bleeding worse than ANYTHING else he'd ever had to face before. Blood dripped down the side of his mouth, and small cuts across his face as he dragged himself into a standing position against the cog as his red eyes seemed to burn into Joshua's. Despite the wounds, despite the pain, despite everything, Ryugi would NOT stop protecting that which he held dear. Not for anyone, not for anything. Nothing would stop him from fighting for it, nothing.

More important than...

A soft white aura began to flow over Ryugi's exhausted body as he stared at Joshua. Images of Ryugi's family, his loved ones, his teammates, his friends, everything and everyone he held dear flashed through his mind. He would protect them, and fight to continue to protect them. Anyone trying to get in the way of his mission, his resolve, his unbreakable resolve, he would put an end to...

Than anything else!

Quote: *Ascension-

Ryugi pushes his body and energy past its usual limits by charging himself with elemental power. This has no effect on his elemental attacks, but it ups all his base stats by 50% as he lets go of his inhibitions and fights with his full power against his opponent.

The aura would pulse slightly as Ryugi stood, fighting against the urge to lay down, the urge to fall. He was exhausted, but that would not stop him from fighting with everything he had!

Now! We FINISH THIS!!

And Ryugi charged towards Joshua, towards the end of the fight, with everything he had left in him.

[post 9]

(( Mmm, hotdogs... ))

Joshua stared him down. Bits and pieces of burned and flaking skin fell off of him as the seconds passed, his entire body seeming to be slowly shedding off the charred memories of Ryugi's efforts to best him in the Clockwork Purgatory. Like a snake shedding his skin, as the outer layer peeled off there seemed to be a new one underneath, just waiting to take its place... though this was not the case. It was growing. A new layer of skin, a new perfect body that was rejuvenating the damage that had been done. What he shed was the excess, the pieces too burned to waste energy trying to recover.

But, like it always did... growth takes more than energy. It takes sustenance.

"Show me the depth of your devotion, and I'll show you... the depths of despair."

[10]

53Ryugi Kazamaru

[8]Ryugi's exhaustion was wearing off by now, but he was still tired. Then, there were the injuries to his midsection to consider. If not for his constitution and resolve, Ryugi probably wouldn't have been able to take three steps without gagging and vomiting. But he couldn't be bothered with that now. All that mattered now was to finish the promise...

Ryugi sped in towards Joshua, his white aura slowly becoming tinged with red and orange. As he grew closer he shot an open right fist towards Joshua's upper torso...

[post 10]

The TAT Captain waited for him to come, and when he did it was not a flashy movement or a burning aura of rage and determination that responded. He just flicked his arm.

Joshua's left spun 180 degrees to the inside, swinging the hand up between them to smack at the inside of Ryugi's arm with a basic martial arts guard. The palm strike would connect with the outside of Joshua's left shoulder before sliding off; enough to give the Captain a firm shove at most.

In the heat of battle, there are two things that one must always have: The will to do what it takes to win, and the wisdom to realize that skill and power are merely two halves of one thing. No matter how much power one gains, and how much they are able to advance their technique, one must never forget the basics.

Ryugi had begun the battle as a child, afraid of what may happen to him if he lost, so he did whatever he could to ensure that losing would not happen. However, fighting to not lose is not the same thing as fighting to win. Unless risks are taken, a fighter who is afraid of losing will always fall back upon the same techniques when his victory is not assured.

From what he had seen thusfar in the fight, if Joshua had let Ryugi do as he wished the energy that had been gathered just now would erupt in another jet of flame. Instead, Joshua was going to cut him off where he stood.

After deflecting the Ryugin's strike he would immediately thrust out with his own left; reaching over the opponent's shoulder to grab a fist full of the shredded back of his shirt and jerk him back.

KR-KOW!

The sound of his headbutt rang out like a gunshot in the hollow emptiness of that Clockwork Purgatory.

[11]

55Ryugi Kazamaru

[10] The headbutt moved Ryugi in towards Joshua, but at the same time, Ryugi's left hand shot forward, gripping around the captain's shoulder as the headbutt slammed into Ryugi's head. But, as one Jack Slate would attest, Ryugi had a hard head. Ryugi saw stars, and a bloodied bruise appeared on his forehead as the move made contact, but not before Ryugi was busy preparing his own.

He KNEW his shot would be blocked, or avoided, all first moves are, but he was willing to take that risk to deliver a massively powerful shot to Joshua's body as well. As Joshua pulled him closer for the headbutt, Ryugi's left knee would shoot forward, blurred to an afterimage by the same boosting technique that Ryugi had used earlier to move his body away from Joshua's assault. As it moved, energy was pushed into Ryugi's leg, compressed, and as the pointed tip of the knee guard would be digging deep into Joshua's midsection, a massive blast of explosive force would explode away from the knee, and into the man's midsection as well, further amplifying the power of the shot...[6]

[post 11]

56themightyjello

FOOM~!

The shot threw him up into the air as the force exploded through him. If he'd had anything in him when it happened he probably would have coughed it up after a hit like that; but he didn't, it had all been consumed by his body moments ago and all that came out was blood, spit, and stomach acid.

It was a good hit. He could feel - or more appropriately, he couldn't feel - his legs go numb for a moment as it connected. It was okay, he wasn't using those legs anyways.

He was left without a leg to stand on, but he still had a fist that was full of Ryugi's clothes, and he had a right arm that snapped up to grab another fist full under the left arm.

There's no way you're getting rid of me!

With a hard jerk the two came together again... either he would go down or Ryugi would come up.

Not until -

Blood was drawn as Joshua sunk his fangs into the side of Ryugi's neck; biting down like a bulldog and threatening to tear a piece right out of his opponent with those teeth.

  • you pay me back for every bit of flesh you burned away!

He was drinking the blood from Ryugi's neck wound.

57Ryugi Kazamaru

[12] Ouch. That REALLY hurt. And was pretty damn gross. Ryugi just hoped Joshua didn't have ADD or whatever that weird disease was that everyone was talking about on the news. But seriously, that was inconvenient. As Ryugi's neck was latched on to by the fighter-turned parasite, and his blood began to flow, Ryugi's spirit once more burned. He couldn't back down, not now! He was so close, he HAD to be! If his opponent was so desperate to heal himself Ryugi must have done considerable damage, more than he'd thought.

As soon as the man's fangs bit Ryugi's neck, Ryugi's left arm pulled back, the fingers of his hand extended straight out, glowing with energy, and shot towards Joshua's face along the side of his neck, but with a little something extra...

Quote: *Crystalization-

This technique was gained from Ryugi's travels in the fire elemental plane. The fire element is forced into a solid crystal that is on par with the hardness and sharpness of diamond, and due to the intense heat and pressure within the crystals, they have massive cutting power, easily capable of piercing the thickest and hardest of materials with relative ease. Even solid metal cannot withstand these crystals for long. If so chosen, the crystals can cut into a solid force, and then explode for massive damage to an opponent. -50 damage for each crystal exploded, can be created from ambient flame energy and energy from aura-

*Adamant’s Claws-

Two light energy claws form up around Ryugi’s forearms and hands offering close combat damage, slashing damage, and burning damage. This technique also allows Ryugi to create solid weapons made of compressed light energy or light/holy energy weapons in order to attack targets, or defend himself from injury – 2 turn charge to activate-

[10] Improvising the basic principle of his "Adamant's Claws" technique and applying it to his "Crystallization" technique, Ryugi attempted to remove Joshua from him. The energy glowing around Ryugi's left hand crystallized and extended into a crystalline blade roughly five inches long, and razor sharp that sped towards the small gap between Ryugi's neck, and Joshua's face. If Joshua didn't let go, Ryugi would carve his face away from his body with the razor sharp, searing hot cutting tool. The heat from the crystal was almost hotter than the massive fireball that had burned Joshua in the first place, and the strike would be amplified as Ryugi pushed as much power into the carving tool as he could...

He'd threatened, and his threat had been called.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtch~!

It was time to carry through on that threat.

Joshua's fist-hold on the back of Ryugi's neck twisted and pulled; jerking the Ryugin's head and shoulders back as soon as his feet were under him again while shoving him back with the other hand pressed against his side. He'd have a bloody piece of flesh between his teeth, and the Ryugin would have a bloody hole in the side of his neck that quickly began to soak through that oversized bandage he was wearing. It might have been fireproof, but that white piece of cloth would sure as hell show that bloodstain for years to come to remind him of the day he spent in a Clockwork Purgatory.

Ryugi's claws found themselves a home in Joshua's flesh; cutting down the right side of his face and across his nose, even going so far as to split his lip as the razor sharp blades cut twin swaths across his face.

Apparently no one had ever taught him how to handle knives as a child. If there is one rule that is the most important when handling a knife, it is to never cut towards yourself. When the resistance suddenly fails, you're left with a sharp blade digging straight into your own body.

Ryugi had gotten his hopes up... just as Joshua wanted. It was one thing to crush a man in the depths of despair, but it was another to raise his expectations before dashing them against the harsh rocks of reality. What had transpired between the two fighters in this time? Not what seemed to transpire, but what truly did?

Since the beginning of the fight, Ryugi had been bleeding off energy, throwing everything he had into explosive attacks that drained his reserves. Joshua, on the other hand, had done comparatively little. He had used energy, but he used it precisely, to maximize the effect while minimalize the waste. Joshua still had the vast majority of his energy reserves remaining because he had not wasted them on geysers of holy fire or private suns. Ryugi's observation had been false... he was not devouring Ryugi because he healed through cannibalism like Tzenidaar did, he was devouring Ryugi because he was hungry.

One does not simply create matter, it needs to come from somewhere. To regrow his skin Joshua's body had abused the buffet at the hotel before coming here, but now his stomach was empty and he was not happy with that. It had nothing to do with his ability to heal himself...

...as was clearly shown as those razor thin cuts Ryugi had carved into Joshua's face sealed themselves up without incident.

He swallowed.

"Your knives... cannot possibly hurt me."

Quote: Positive Energy: Positive energy is spiritual energy that Joshua draws upon with beneficial intent. The energy embodies the good within his spirit, and manifests itself as an energy that exhibits a pale blue glow and a calming aura. Positive energy is the energy of life and of restoration and balance within things. It can be used for healing injuries, energizing the body and the spirit, or, to a lesser extent, mending that which has been broken. Joshua’s proficiency with positive energy is one of the few remaining things in his life which tie him to his past, when he was trained to be a healer. Now he walks the line between being a healer and a necromancer.

The energy is gathered in the body, usually around the hands, and is usually expelled into another body through contact. When positive energy courses through a body, it speeds metabolism and the natural healing process, working to mend injuries and promote general health. Positive energy can also be used to enhance the body, protect it from injury or disease, or a number of other beneficial effects.

Injuries treated through positive energy can vary from superficial scrapes to life threatening injuries; though in addition to the severity of the injury adding to the time and amount of energy required to fully mend it, the nature of the wound is also a factor. Scrapes and cuts can be mended easily and with little effort, as they only need to be pulled together and sealed shut. The finer the and more clean the cut, the more simple it is to deal with. More extensive tissue damage is much more difficult to deal with, as bruises and deep tissue damage require a much more extensive rebuilding than simply a stitch. Broken bones may also be mended in this way, but they need to be set first to avoid the bones knitting in the wrong position and requiring a re-break.

Positive energy cannot be used to raise the dead, though it can perfectly restore a body to the point where it would be perfectly capable of being alive if there were to be a soul in the body. Without a soul, however, the body is simply a vegetable with no hope to ever awaken. Fresh scars and lost parts of the body are able to be restored through extensive use of positive energy, but much older injuries are sometimes incurable, as the body no longer remembers how it should be and considers the scars a part of itself.

"Your knives..." [12]

It appeared Ryugi's assumption based on TV footage was wrong... Apparently he really COULDN'T believe everything he saw on TV. So much for that idea. But as Joshua spoke the crystal knife on Ryugi's left hand dissipated, and Ryugi's left hand gripped Joshua's face tightly, slipping to his neck as he grasped and pulled hard with a massive burst of strength as he tried to remove the man's face from his neck area, assisted by his right hand as it wrapped its way around to the front, and pushed off hard with its own force as an aura of powerful heat began to build up within Ryugi's body...

[post 13]

60themightyjello

With his neck torn open and his heartbeat racing from pushing his limit like that, it wasn't surprising that Ryugi's claws dissipated; after all, he was bleeding out. Most of the flesh that had been torn was skin, though some of it was a large piece of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. It would be all but impossible to keep his head up now, and he was losing more blood by the second.

So, when Ryugi raised his arm to strike once again, Joshua... let him fall.

He'd already pulled Ryugi's head and shoulders back, there was room enough between them for his right hand to move a few inches from the underarm to the side of the chest, and with a flat hand against it he simply shoved off.

Joshua took a step back, Ryugi would have stumbled back as well, and the Ryugin would find nothing but air clutched in his tired hand.

"I'm done with you," the Captain said as he walked across the slowly spinning cog in that Clockwork Purgatory to where his sword had ended up, "dream of the day when death comes to you..."

He bent and picked up his weapon. After all that, it would be something else if the Ryugin could still hold onto consciousness.

"...you have been judged."

[14]

61Ryugi Kazamaru

Well, that was it. Ryugi had taken everything he could take. He'd been battered, bruised, pulverized, and pounded to the point of exhaustion by his opponent. Ryugi was strong, and strong-willed, but try as he might, he just wasn't a match for his opponent's healing factor. But even as he fell backwards onto the gear, and drifted to unconsciousness, it wasn't a total loss for the dragon. He'd put up a decent fight for his team, and he'd showed that he COULD stand up against impossible odds.

Ryugi had grown from the fight, regardless of the outcome. He'd fought for his goal, and that in and of itself was enough of a win for him. His other teammates could handle the rest. He had enough faith in them for that.

The first thing Joshua did once Ryugi lost conciousness: Take his pants.

Jibblets covered, he bent down and pressed a hand to the side of Ryugi's neck to stop the bleeding. He'd let the wounds heal in their own due time... lessons learned from a battle where he pushed himself to the limit... but he provided a boost to Ryugi's body's natural healing process so that the blood would clot.

"Who's next?"

The Captain left Ryugi where he lay, allowing the Ryugin to deal with their own as they would, ascending out of the Clockwork Purgatory and returning to his own team's sideline.

63themightyjello

"Wake up!"

Ryugi would find himself being jabbed in the side.

"Mister Kazamaru, wake up!"

A small body flopped onto his shoulders, pulling on his hair and rattling his head around from side to side.

64Rykono Tadaya

Blood poured, sweat dripped, and hopes sunk. Nayko stood awe struck as Ryugi and this demonic force faced each other in near equal combat. But it wasn't equal. Ryugi played a good game, though it did start off rather one sided. Nonetheless, this man was extremely gifted, and even more dangerous than Nayko assumed. It didn't matter. If Nayko had to, he'd kill them all based on principle. They were demons, and they deserved only to die.

Nayko, hesitant to stand down while the match progessed, lost control when Ryugi fell. Soaring through tender air, Nayko drifted beside Ryugi. He froze. Nayko didn't wish to disturb the sleeping dragon, but his wounds needed attention. "Damned Hell Spawn," he spat, wheeling to face the demon. "Before this day is done, I swear that your soul will vacate both this world and the next. I promise you this!" Nayko scooped up the mutilated form of Ryugi and walked up the cogs to let him lay upon a catwalk. Though the damned demon did indeed aid Ryugi, he still was going to die.

Removing his shirt, Nayko covered Ryugi's bare legs in a mock-diaper. He extended his finger toward the ever so cocky demon and smiled. "If fortune favors my divine quest, then I'll make sure you fall before the sun sets." The gears of the clock tower groaned with frustration as a billowing wave of fridid cold air encumpassed the room. The enormous cogs creaked with the strain of cold's grasp. Nayko felt alive, and for the first time since the crusades, he wanted blood.

Fight end.

When he was watching the fight, he didnt say anything, he didnt move, he simply watched, just absorbing every bit of information he could distinctly point out, not only from Ryugi, but from Joshua as well. Information was information, it didnt matter who it came from.

Team Ryugin: Silver Dragons, ranked second place in the first Heaven or Hell tournament. Such information didnt come to his realisation until sometime in the middle of the fight between Joshua and Ryugi, as the first opponent he had noticed, the captain, Silver Moonblade, didnt make any real significant contribution last year to be recognizable. If that last display was what they were bringing last year, then Tzenidaar wondered how they even advanced that far. Yes, he had done some minor research on the tournament when he got involved; particularily the teams which placed first and second, those which would be considered the teams to beat. The teams he might actually care about.

So far, it didnt seem so impressive.

themightyjello Wrote:

"Who's next?"

Tzenidaar simply looked to either side at the rest of the team which hadnt fought yet. And he was pretty sure everyone wanted to get things going.

"Well... you already picked up a win boss, but I'm sure we all want to play as well." he muttered, counting off the rest of the oposing team which remained; three people. And on Team a** Tear, four were still conscious, though one had already fought.

And then, he revealed a surprising display of his inherited intellect, "By the the new rules instated, technically, this fight is a four on four match. However, I do believe it is safe to say that with neither of us thinking to interfere in another's fight, we can take on one opponent each at the same time. The only problems is the limited amount of space in this tower, unless the lower sections and the roof may be used for combat as well, and the fact that there are suppose to be only three fights, not four.

"However, due to there being only three fights which count, and three of us, with that one victory picked up by the capt'n, one of such fights will not count towards the final decision...

You guys up for a speed contest?" Tzenidaar spoke the final line of his analysis of the new rules for this fight to the rest of Team a** Tear, "Of course, thats only if the judges allow it, due to the size restraints of this building." If they would take this on, it was a race between themselves to see who would finish their fights first.

Of course, he spoke loud enough for the other team as well as the judges to know his intention.

Teamwork? Pft, did such a thing even exist for Team a** Tear?

66themightyjello

Joshua blew Nyako a kiss.

"You fanatics really annoy the hell out of me, you know that? All that goody-goody crap and in the end you're just a bunch of racists."

He bent down and picked up his discarded jacket from the catwalk where he had thrown it; slipping first one arm in and then the other.

"I'll let you in on a little secret: Your god is not the only one out there. Heaven, hell, it's all just a part of the big picture. You guys will find yourselves in one or the other when the day is done and you've served your time in this Clockwork Purgatory."

Slapping the heel of his hand against his forehead, he swiped it backwards over th bald skin, and hair began to grow again as his body's metabolism kicked up to super-speed.

"Tell me when Jesus did that."

Outside his mind, Ryugi was safely back with his team and resting, thanks to the help of his teammate and friend Nayko. However, in his mind, apparently some weird things were going on...

Ryugi opened his eyes to the poking and prodding and the rattling of his head.

Jeez... Ok ok... Who's poking me?

68themightyjello

Teamwork? Sure, they were capable of it... but was it really such a feasible thing for these people, who didn't seem to care about each other at all beyond who brought the beer?

"I like that. What have you got in mind?"

Above all else, TAT was just a bunch of monsters here to have a roll in the grass with the best out there. It broke the Captain's heart to see rounds to by where fights didn't happen. If there was some way to make sure that everyone got to see a little action in the Clockwork Purgatory, he'd definitely hear it out.

"Good morning, Mister Kazamaru."

The child climbed off of him and hunkered down on her haunches beside his head. She was exactly the same as before, nothing had changed at all; she wore the same polished shoes, the same black satin dress, and her skin was still so pale as death itself.

"I trust you're feeling... well."

"Fool, we aren't ignorant children placating the ideals of mere religious intolerances." Nayko flexed his massive pearled wings under the joyous crisp touch of the cold air. "I'm aware of their being other Gods, other universes, and other creatures. My aim isn't racial, its ideological. I'm no more a racisit then a dove is a carnivoir. Prejudice would more accurately classify my stereotyping, but it isn't as general as that either. My role in this life is to purify the wicked and sanctify the lost realms that are shrauded in darkness. Hell, as you put it, is nothing more than a fairy tale crafted by worried people to scare children. There is, of course, a realm of demons crafted of fire, but it is no hell."

Nayko drew in a deep refreshing breath and eyed the other three members of TAT. Stryfe seemed to be his opponent, and he smiled in confidense. "Must I be put against the most timid member?" Nayko snapped back into himself and began to chastize his ruined nature. Don't fall into the ways of ruin. Blessed are those who right the wrong, and bring virtue, not vice. I must not placate their games with words of a misguided hubris. I must be wise, and not falter to such lowered levels. Nayko calmed his quivering muscles and gazed at the man with a new found respect. They were both alternates, and it only seemed to fall into favor that Nayko would fight him.

Tzenidaar's answer to the captain's question did not come in words. He pointed at Moonblade, captain of the opposing team with one hand.

And so it was, that the chimera had picked out the captain of the other team to fight. He did not just want to pick up a victory, he wanted to take something else; mark the man by wearing something which belonged to him, exactly as he had taken some of Sierra's shed feathers and decorated the end of his small pony tail and the top of his left ear with, woven into his short hair. Primitive. Tribal.

Captains usually just so happened to represent a team as a whole.

"Whatever, just don't preach at me any more. I think my ears are bleeding."

He gave a nod to Tzenidaar in approval. Armageddon was about to be unleashed, and this Clockwork Purgatory would soon enough become a clockwork hell.

"Good morning, Mister Kazamaru."

"I trust you're feeling... well." Actually... Now that you mention it, I feel...pretty good.

Ryugi felt pretty good, considering he just got a crazy beating. That was...odd.

74themightyjello

That was only natural... Ryugi didn't seem to have any injuries on him at all. He was pretty worn out from all his efforts, but there didn't seem to be anything physically wrong with him at all.

"Of course! The only thing that was hurt was your body."

The child pointed a skinny little finger at the bloodsoaked figure laying upon the cog below the catwalk upon which they were sitting.

75Ryugi Kazamaru

By the ADAMANTS WHAT IS GOING ON!?

That just wasn't normal, it was just plain weird. How often did you see your own body simply sitting down below where you were? Needless to say, Ryugi had never had an "Out of Body Experience" before. There were just some things most people didn't come up against in their own lives, even if they were long-lived. Some things just...usually didn't happen.

76themightyjello

"You're not dead, so stop wondering."

The child spoke matter-of-factly with absolutely no doubt in her voice about Ryugi's situation. Around them the members of both teams were going on with their business as if the two of them weren't even there... even those present who could see the spirits of the dead didn't seem to take notice of them at all. The only ones who seemed to even be aware of them stood on the catwalk across the way: A glowing white eye peeking out from under a dark hood that flicked towards Ryugi every now and again, and the superior smirk of the man that had 'killed' him.

"Now..."

The child sat on the edge of the catwalk, her legs dangling over the black abyss below them as she hugged one of the bars supporting the handrail.

"...you had questions for me."

77Ryugi Kazamaru

Well, yes.

Ryugi calmed himself a bit, perhaps not too surprisingly noticing the other two across the way. Least he wasn't dead.

Mainly, as you might expect, the mark on the back of my neck. What is it, what is its purpose, and what's its significance?

The questions weren't demanding, more curious and inquisitive. Sure, the subject made Ryugi a little nervous, but he was pretty sure he wouldn't get anywhere demanding an answer to his questions. Plus, that wasn't exactly polite.

78themightyjello

"You mean this?"

The child reached up behind Rygui's ear and tapped a... metal collar?

It was true, where there had been the mark of a Reaper burned into Ryugi's flesh on his body, his spirit instead had a collar bound around his neck bearing that same brand upon it.

"This is your unfulfilled destiny, Mister Kazamaru, and that of your ancestors."

79Ryugi Kazamaru

Well, the collar was strange, but in this strange place, Ryugi supposed that many things were possible. Maybe the collar served as an identification marker to someone, much like a collar that humans placed on their pets to identify them.

Unfulfilled Destiny...? My ancestors? I don't mean to sound daft, but I don't understand.

Then again, it seemed that whenever Ryugi asked someone about the mark, it seemed he wasn't meant to understand it's meaning. Though, he hoped that might change with this strange encounter.

80themightyjello

The child clamored back onto her feet, dusting off her dress despite there not being a speck of dirt upon the impossibly clean garment, and jabbed her tiny little finger right between his eyes.

"Your destiny, boy! The thing that you've always secretly wished for, the thing that you wanted more than anything else."

The child huffed and flopped back down on her haunches, arms and legs crossed, and stuck her tongue out at the Ryugin.

"That collar marks the difference between what you are and what you should be. Underneath that collar is your ticket to heaven, child. You only need to find the key that unlocks it."

81Ryugi Kazamaru

As usual the answer was cryptic, but it was an answer. Nonetheless, it still left Ryugi with more questions than answers. These sorts of things always seemed to turn out this way...

I'd ask for a more specific answer, but I have a feeling that that is all you'll be sharing with me for a while.

Ryugi grinned as he finished. He wasn't expecting a flat out answer, but the conversation had gone quicker than he'd thought.

82themightyjello

"If I gave away answers like cheap candy the world would be full of good-for-nothings and freeloaders like that slacker over there!"

With another angry huff the girl waved her hand at the man who was pointlessly arguing with the celestial. Then, as if heartbroken, she simply shut her eyes and sighed.

"When the time comes, your fate depends on the choices you make."

Folding tiny hands behind her back, the child leaned in; tilting her head to the side as she peered into Ryugi's face from nearly an upside-down angle.

"There is only one way into the Hall of Heroes. Isn't that right? Mister Ka. Za. Ma. Ru?"

83Ryugi Kazamaru

I suppose you're right...on both accounts. We are a sum of our decisions and experiences.

Ryugi stood up and cracked his neck, out of habit, not like that really did anything in his spirit form. He sighed, then turned to face her again.

Thank you, Lady Jennifer, for everything.

84themightyjello

Ryugi Kazamaru Wrote:

Thank you, Lady Jennifer, for everything.

Laughter could be heard from the far catwalk, as both the Reapers who stood there suddenly cracked up. Apparently Ryugi had just said something downright hilarious, and it showed by the way that 'Jennifer' furrowed her brow in annoyance.

"Silence yourselves before your lungs shrivel!"

The child spun on her heel, glaring down the two clowns as her command boomed from every direction at once. They fell silent, as commanded... or perhaps as threatened, and went back to the business they were attending to beforehand.

Taking a moment to calm herself the child hunkered down once more and gave Ryugi the impression of a smile.

"...don't ever call me that again. That is not my name. I am D-"

And Ryugi suddenly woke up.

Silver was actually relived when Tzenidaar called him out; if he had to listen to any more childish bickering, he'd probably kill one of his own teammates. Ryugi's defeat was a minor set back, but these things happened. He didn't necessarily approve of the display his comrade showed, it wasn't really all that bad. You have to be true to your own style, otherwise there's no point in fighting at all.

They were far from out of this competition; they just had to fight that much harder.

Without any further delay, he stepped onto the massive cog Ryugi had lost conscience on. Assuming someone moved him, anyways. The differing speed of rotation on the cogs would only server to disorientate him, but at least he'd be on the same level with his opponent. If he could just keep his footing, he should do just fine.

"Let's do this thing. There are others that want blood today."

Gripping the weapon on his back with his right hand, he awaited his opponent. It was clear that he would draw it the second the Chimera entered the "ring", or at least step forward. He grinned; there would be none of that "waiting for the first move" crap. Either Tzenidaar would come in guns-a-blazing or Moonblade would jump him.

86Ryugi Kazamaru

Ryugi awoke and shook his head, then immediately regretted waking up as his body reminded him of just how badly he'd pushed himself. He didn't bother speaking to anyone, or letting anyone know he was awake. He just lay there, looking at Silver as he got ready to apparently battle Tzenidaar, and used the remaining energy in his body to patch himself up, mostly focusing his efforts on his neck, and once that was healed, he moved inward, doing what he could to heal his pummeled and bruised innards.

After a bit more healing, Ryugi was feeling up to about 75% efficiency. It wasn't perfect, but the rest could be handled with a good night's sleep. He was about to clib up when he noticed the Sol Blade near one of the gears, and picked it up, placing it in its sheath before continuing on. He climbed up to the area where his other teammates were sitting, picked out a corner along the catwalk, and sat down once more to work on cleaning his scarf. He'd dealt with bloodstains on the fabric before, and he'd just use the same method he always used to get it looking as good as ever.

It was then he realized that there was a draft, or more correctly, that he was lacking pants. He thought about hiding it, but what would it accomplish when everyone had realized it by now anyway? Luckily he had more than one pair of clothes back at the hotel. If they were going to get ruined anywhere, it would be here at HoH...

87themightyjello

Seeing Ryugi awake, Joshua huffed.

"Shoulda taken his wallet..." he said under his breath.

"Yo~" The Captain glanced to the side at his team and spoke jokingly. "I'll be right back. Don't get yourselves killed."

Then, taking a piece of chalk from his pocket, he began making an etching around the door to the stairwell. It took only a few moments; drawing long, arching lines around the frame... and then walked through it. The etchings glowed brightly for a moment, and then he was gone from the Clockwork Purgatory.

Where had he gone?

When would he return?

Well... they would just have to find out.

88Kraun

With a light hop off of the rail, the man would land onto the slowly rotating gear. Even as Moonblade would draw his weapon, Tzenidaar didnt make an attack; oh no, he wouldnt jump in guns-a-blazin'. There was something much more important to be done first. Many fighters seemed to be at their best in the beginning, when they were fresh, in perfect condition. Tzenidaar however, was almost the complete opposite; it was not that his strength or speed increases over time like some retarded positive form of cancer, but rather, it was not something of a physical sense. It was completely mental.

The more he fought, the longer he fought; time only added to his confidence, his resolve, his anger, removed his mercy, developed his strategic thinking, and sharpened his senses. It didnt matter that he was not the one who was actually fighting previously, he had been watching the match between Ryugi and Joshua, processing the information, gathering his own opinion on the matter as a third party.

And then he would speak, because he really hadnt said anything to the man before other than the question of whether he was'scurr'd' or not. Two questions, one completely unneccessary, as he would already know the answer, but he would ask them nonetheless.

"Two questions."

He held out his right arm to his side, parallel to the 'floor', hand balled into a fist with his thumb extended. It pointed neither up nor down, but rather, wavering between them, like the emperors of ancient Rome when they made the decision to the outcome of gladiatorial combat.

"One; Do you wish to forfeit?" What an absurd question, asking the captain if he would give up without even putting up a fight, adding a second loss to Ryugi's, and ultimately ending the entire round.

Now assuming that Moonblade would not forfeit, as he obviouslt wouldnt, his thumb would swing downwards. Such actions were not directed to anyone within the clocktower, they could take it however they wanted. The motion was specifically designed for the spectators. Yes, he knew there were cameras around, and he knew that even if they were not here, they would be able to see his actions. And he could only expect...

The roar of the crowd; A howl for blood.

"Second question; What's the worst a** kicking you've ever had?"

89User 367130

"Gee... let me think about that for a NO."

Like anyone would be surprised by the first answer. Before he even started to answer the second question he bolted forward, leading with his left. As he closed in, he turned his right side forward and thrust Dragoonair towards the Chimera's mid section. Being relatively short, 5'6", he would have the advantage of nimbleness. That didn't change the fact that this attack wouldn't be overly difficult to avoid, nor did it change the answer he gave as he struck out.

"The worst beatings are the ones you don't see coming."

[1. Let the Bloodbath begin.]

90Kraun

When the man began his headlong rush, Tzenidaar didnt move all too much. Good, for once someone didnt just stand there and wait for an attack. He couldnt hold back a grin.

Crossing the entire distance of the large clockwork gear would take some time; just enough for the small actions to take place.

His wings would fan open to their full size behind him, the tattered black clothe between them spread out, dripping with a dark goopy substance. Need less to say, it was clearly unnatural. And then, like a one-two strike, his right wing would snap forward, followed by his left.

The tattered black substance would rip off, as if it was just disconnected and hurled forward, its dampness, visible by its dripiness, would provide mass for it to fly forward, whipping through the air, like a wet towel. The first would be towards Moonblade's upper body, shoulder level, the second following that, low, knee level.

And even as he did so, his right hand would fall back down to his side as he leaned forward slightly, spreading his legs apart. With that action, done before the man would cross the distance, during the time he took to do so, he would seem to change slightly.

He was going to rip him apart.

Bone and nail seemed to elongate and sharpen, his teeth, visible in his grinning mouth would become points, his nails growing thick and pointed like claws. His overall facial features appeared more beastial than before. Thank Owle Isohos's shape changing abilities and Lazenca Miranda's canine genes for such a change.

So, maybe Moonblade would make a different move with the new development of the splattering cloth swung at him, if he would dodge them first, or maybe he wouldn't, performing the exact same move as before, after evading the cloth. Or maybe he'd just get hit by them. You never know.

Silver bent under the first one, following through with charge. As the second one was fired, he leaped forward. This wasn't so much of a jump than a huge step, so the substance clipped his left shin. The force of the negative energy wasn't enough to knock him off his feet, though this would totally mess up his landing. Fortunately (or unfortunately from an evasion standpoint), he was well into the process of ramming his weapon into his opponent. Unless the chimera moved, but that was an entirely different story.

This was already getting interesting. Just what WAS this thing?

Catching his fall with his left palm, Moonblade would immediately push back and force himself to a standing position. Besides his feet, his legs never fully hit the ground. It was unknown what the substance would do to him; it could be acid for all he knew. Unfortunately, Silver only had so many hands.

[2]

92Kraun

He did move, but it was an advance, not an evasion. His hands went up to his sides, palms open, but neither of them were in front of the spear's point. No, before the spear would strike, something would be in the way.

The massive meat cleaver Tzenidaar used as a weapon would materialize in his right hand, the large blade parallel to the ground with the edge pointed downwards. Essentially, the flat of the blade would stop the spear's point before it would enter the area of his hands in front of his body.

With his right hand holding the weapon parallel to the ground, and his left hand backing the other side of the blade which was flat, the spear would not have much of a chance to advance further or push the weapon out of the way.

His hands would tilt forward slightly, making the flat of the weapon angle downwards and causing the spear's forward momentum to slide along it, diverting its path to the ground as Tzenidaar jumped over its length.

His hands were occupied, his legs were off the ground, and the spear would be underneath him. In such a position, he couldnt attack with his arms or legs, and withhis own weight as well as the additional seventy five pounds of his weapon pressing down against the spear's head end, Moonblade would not be able to lift it very easily or retract it back as its haft would grind against the edge of the blade in the position he would be in, catching his fall with his left hand as his right grasped the weapon to direct its thrust even as he fell.

But, Tzenidaar didnt exactly need his hands or his legs in the situation. He had his skeletal wings. The points of the bony appendages would have sharpened, just like his teeth, into something similar to a blade. And considering the fact that he could manuever them in such a way as to sweep upwards, using the edges of the membranes which were made out of air, sharp as razors, in his last fight against Sierra, it was clearly evident that they were easily manueverable to shoot outwards like a spear's thrust, their overall length providing the reach to strike Moonblade.

I HAVE YOU NOW.

Already, Tzenidaar was confident that this fight was over, even as the man declined his offer to let him forfeit.

With a slight upwards angle, coming in from the ouside, as the appendage would have needed space to move around his arm, the far tip of the chimera's right wing would aim to impale the captain of Ryugin's left shoulder, the one which supported his weight just as he caught himself. The aim was to strike between the man's collarbone, shoulderblade, and upper arm, essentially, the space known as the ball and socket joint of the shoulder.

If Moonblade wore some sort of breastplate, it would skim along its outside edges of the arm where it it left open to provide freedom of movement. If there were shoulder guards as well, the upwards angle would easily swing underneath it to impale through the shoulder joint.

There was no fancy main blood vessel cutting or special tendon severing, it would simply rip through the joint.

~KKKCCCHH!

The instant Silver caught himself, he felt the excruciatingly sharp pain of his shoulder being torn asunder. That was the major flaw of Moonblade's acrobatics; it's almost impossible to change direction in midair. Though his breastplate was apparent, it was purely decoration. It may even serve to increase the damage as metal shards were jammed into the arm as the bone punched through it.

But things were just kicking off. The chimera was fooling himself if he thought this was anywhere near over.

As expected, blood oozed directly out of the wound. But what the monster might not expect is the blood to turn into a deadly current of super-heated energy a split second later. This was a reactionary spell, one Moonblade sometimes used when he received a deep wound at close quarters. The putrid liquid had a nasty habit of coursing through it's victims, damaging them from the inside out. It also had a nasty habit to do more harm than good, but in this situation he would have lost the blood eventually anyways.

On the bright side, it would cauterize the wound nicely.

As much as he'd love to stab Tzenidaar in the face, he'd have to focus on getting out of the situation first. Inhaling deeply, he tried to desensitize himself from pain completely. He needed complete focus to pull this off. It all depended on what Tze did next.

The searing heat of Moonblade's blood would not affect Tzenidaar too much, as he previously displayed his strong resistance to heat and fire in his first fight during the Heaven or Hell tournament. The edges of the hole would be seared shut, however, the bone would still be impaling the man's shoulder.

With the ball and joint socket of his left shoulder punctured, the arm was essentially useless. The bone would simply be like a wedge, preventing the shoulder from moving, even if tearing the ligaments were not enough. Additionally, the gelatinous liquid which is used to lubricate the joints held in pockets around the joints of a body would have been exposed as soon as it tore into the man's arm. If the bony appendage was to be removed, there would still be the gaping hole which would remain exposed, as flesh would be cauterized around it by searing hot blood, allowing the goop to escape.

Useless information picked up by the writer from a butchery class? The author thinks not.

However, as soon as Moonblade cried out in pain, if he even did with something ripping through his shoulder, Tzenidaar would take the opportunity of distraction to have his left wing shoot forward exactly as the right wing had, this one aiming for the man's right shoulder instead, in the same action, into the socket between the bones which made up the shoulder.

However, there was a slight difference this time, as once a person witnesses an attack, they tend to look out for it in case they would become victim again.

Confidence; the emotion which manifests itself as air. Movement. Force.

Quote: Boost: With a short powerful burst of air, Tzenidaar’s actions and movements carry more force and are quicker.

Quote: Pressure Cutter: Cutting away the air pressure in a small area, Tzenidaar is able to make attacks at an accelerated rate. Alone, this ability is not of any significant use; however it does allow him to tear through large amounts of generated air pressure that is present, effectively cutting through it. Essentially, this allows him to break through defenses set up by force in the open air.

It would be like a gunshot, only not. There was no barrier of air to create a sonic boom, so canot be said whether or not the limb shot out fast enough to rival a bullet and break the sound barrier.

The second appendage would be usd to tear into the man's other shoulder just after the first one had ripped into him.

If such an attack was successful, again, Moonblade's right hand may even just drop the weapon he was holding onto.

Meanwhile, Tzenidaar would land on his feet, legs bending slightly from the landing, pressing the giant meat cleaver down with his arms to force the spear further downwards between his legs, unless Moonblade dropped it, then it would be on the floor in the same position.

Silver had no intention to hold on to his weapon in the first place. The weapon tended to be a high priority target in a fight, and the advantages of holding on to it were quite obvious. However, there were as many situations where a weapon could be a handicap, and this was one of them. Even without Dragoonair, he had a few tricks up his sleeve.

~SNAP!

Silver flipped over his left arm, totally destroying it in a sick display of determination, which should totally negate the shot to his right shoulder. There was no way he was going to lose to this thing! He couldn't let his entire team down, especially this early in the fight. Crying out in extreme pain, Tzenidaar would find that there was a reason to his breathing habits.

Quote: Emerald Fire: Moonblade’s specialty. Also known as Demon’s Bane, it is especially effective against demons. It’s unique properties effect even the strongest fire elementals, not being normal fire. Though it is possible for an insanely powerful fire elementalist to control (I.E. Ifrit caliber), no one else can create it without his blood. It can be combined with most of his techniques.

Quote: Breath Emulation: When a Dragon Breaths, a Dragon Knight merely has to brace himself to absorb the impact. Making this small sacrifice, they can duplicate a dragons breath weapon for a limited amount of time. With enough training, these knights can learn breath weapons of their own, which is usually that of their mounts.

Releasing stored magical energy and oxygen he shot an intense cone of emerald fire from his mouth. Since he was bent upward on his useless arm, he would be facing upward directly towards the Chimera's torso and face. The 'fire' itself didn't get it's strength from the heat it created, which was only a blistering 600 degrees. It could be more comparable to a NASTY chemical burn, and he wasn't holding anything in like he did in previous fights. Even Ryugi's fire resistant scales were no match to his Emerald Flame. He doubted even Vahn Kyonuske could resist it, unless you counted sheer stubbornness.

Can this monster stand the heat?

The wasn't all he had in store for his opponent. In a simultaneous action, he focused an incredible amount of arcana into his right hand. He literally delivered a bone shattering punch at the wing logged into his arm. Powered by magical energy, he found a painful solution to getting out of this gruesome situation. His arm would be completely useless, but at least he'd be free.

The weapon wasnt too big of a priority. Of course, getting rid of it would be nice, but rather, the man's ability to defend himself was the primary target of his attacks.

Either way, puncturing the man's shoulders were only one half of the attack he would perform to do this. Even if he had destroyed the man's ability to use his shoulders, his elbow and hands worked on a different system of muscles and tendons, still available for use, even if movement to them would affect the shoulder and cause extreme pain, if the man could feel pain or if he could ignore it altogether.

As such, as soon as the second wing's tip drove forward and missed, they would flare up with a short burst of negative energy, starting from his shoulder blades where the appendages were connected, running own their lengths to the very tip before disappating. He was not forming a wing, he was using it to transfer the energy directly into the man's ound. The result; unless Moonblade could ignore the effects of negative energy, the area around the puncture wound would be destroyed as it was sucked dry of life as the energy passed through it and shot out his back where the wing's tip was. Blood vessels would explode, flesh would dry out and wither, bones would become brittle.

Negative energy was the one form of energy Tzenidaar could consciously control due to his development based mainly on that man, unlike the other abilities he possessed, which were manifested only through his emotions and mindset. However, unlike Joshua, he did not have precise control of it. Sure, he could use it, but that didnt mean he could define its shape and size accordingly. The burst of energy would be like a storm; chaotic. It didnt have a specific and controlled effect like affecting the shoulder only, instead, it would spread through the area just a little.

Considering the fact that the left side of the body is usually what houses the heart in the chest area, such an action was dangerous. The organ would not be close enough to be directly affected, however, the main arteries and veins which attached to the heart did go upwards. They just might be damaged, or they might not, but it was not close enough to the heart to do much to directly affect it. Additionally, the upper portion of the left lung may just be brushed by the outer disappating spread of the negative energy, maybe not. It all depends what the oppenent says about it.

Now, as to the actions taken...

If Moonblade was not affected at all by the sudden destruction of his arm during the flip, would still blow the flames at full force, and was able to ignore the sudden pain of having a section of his body wither away to throw a full forced punch, then the following would result.

Considering that speed was the name of the game, to end the fight as quickly as possible, even in the most brutal way possible, his actions were not done one at a time, they would be performed almost in unison. He didnt have time to waste, especially if he was competing against the rest of his team.

With his own weapon in his hands, right hand holding the hilt, left hand pressing against the flat of the large blade, he would swing it. His right hand would snap outwards as his left hand would push against it's tip, releasing a burst of air force against it to put it into swift motion. Normally, with such a heavy weapon, it would be an impossible action, his right hand would have its wrist twisted out of place, but the giant meat cleaver, with its semi-sentience, recognized the man as its owner, and its featherweight enchantment would be in effect. Seventy five pounds would only appear to be eight pounds to Tzenidaar, though it would still provide strain, it wouldnt be enough to break his wrist.

Now, with such a motion, he would swing it a little upwards, the initial aim was to smash the flat of the blade just below the wing with the burst of force placed behind it and the additional amplification of impacting force when it strikes, another enchantment on the weapon, it was designed to simply crush the right side of Moonblade's body, possibly breaking several ribs or his arm in the process as well as slamming him hard enough to launch him off of his wing.

However, if Moonblade would continue to flip to his left side at the time of such an action, it would either smash against his legs or groin prematurely in his flip and break whatever, or when he was upside down and breathing fire, completely smashing against the unprotectable left side of his head. Unlike the body, arms, or legs, the head didnt have the need to feel pain, with enough shock, such as a blow with amplified force, the brain would simply shut down.

Either way, once the weapon would strike, Moonblade would be flung off the wing with the blow.

And as for the fire, at a distance of about five or sic feet apart, it was skeptical whether or not it would even reach him in time to do more than just a flash against the right side of his face.

If it did strike fully, then the upper portion of the right side of Tzenidaar's head would blister and burn, like acid eating away at it before his body turned in the same direction and the captain of Ryugin would be forefully batted away. Accompanied of course, by a horrible anamilistic scream.

The pain was unfathomable to all those who hadn't felt the power of un-life coursing through their helpless bodies. If Silver's arm had been destroyed earlier, it was utterly annihilated as the chaotic energies wrecked havoc through his arm. Though random, the negative power destroyed anything it touched. Though it even went so far as to graze his left lung, it didn't do any substantial damage.

Though it would add a little blood to the mix of emerald flame that shot out of his mouth. In fact, it increased the intensity of the said fire; the damage to his lung forced him to expel a bit more than he intended to. It wasn't pleasant, either. Once he started the fire breath, he couldn't necessarily stop without doing considerable harm to himself. It was much like holding your breath, though much more lethal. Performers who "breath fire" can't inhale in the middle of their act, or else their pretty screwed.

It would be foolish to underestimate the breath's range; it would have no problem reaching its mark at this distance.

The sword attack was a different matter entirely. Assuming that Tzenidaar could wield his cleaver with as much grace and speed as a rapier, and go directly into a smash before Silver even had a chance to react to an attack that JUST happened:

Previously, Kraun Wrote:

It would be like a gunshot, only not. There was no barrier of air to create a sonic boom, so cannot be said whether or not the limb shot out fast enough to rival a bullet and break the sound barrier.

The second appendage would be use to tear into the man's other shoulder just after the first one had ripped into him.

...then the smash would prematurely smash into into his right leg. Even though in this scenario he'd have a huge bruise and would have a limp, it wouldn't be so severe that it would end combat prematurely. You could still fight with a damaged leg and a dead arm.

Enough about things that have already happened:

After Tzenidaar finished his sword smash, Silver Moonblade would be flung off the Chimera's wing. Now free, he would roll back away from his opponent and quickly tumble onto his feet, crouching slightly. Wincing slightly, he should have noticed the fact that he was feeling less and less pain. In fact, most of his body had gone numb of feeling. It wasn't that he couldn't act, he just didn't feel anything.

His mind had detached from his body, acting on an "autopilot" of a sense.

Silver's breathing was beginning to get heavy due to his injuries, but he wouldn't quit. In fact, that brutal episode only made him MORE determined. There was no hint of a grin left in his face, only a murderous look in his emerald eyes. His opponent was skilled, but he would be sure not to make the same mistake twice.

After all, he DID have the speed advantage on this guy, which didn't quite offset the extra appendages. Speaking of which, he couldn't risk doing to much the instant he got away. Leading with his right, he was planning his next course of attack.

((sorry about any slowness. I had to do laundry. Which I have to hang, so I'll be back in a few.))

That was just the thing about Tzenidaar which everyone underestimated about him. His ability to move. At five foot ten, he was not much tallen than a lot of other people, and as for his two hundred pound body, it may be mostly muscle, but it was not the sort of muscle used for endurance, to press five hundred pounds or so. No, rather, his muscled were developed for explosive bursts of power. His strikes, his movements, were quick, powerful, more than people would ever give him credit for. He was essentially, a human in peak physical shape.

But that didnt matter. On the issue of the weapon, it was a preplanned attack to smash his side, but would result in something else. It didnt take the grace of his arm's dexterity, instead, it was simply using his arm as a fulcrum as the burst of force against the far end of the blade would put it into motion. It was relatively simple, the first part of the previously text was the result of a previous attack, the second part was an actual attack.

As the man would be flung away, Tzenidaar would drop the sword as his right hand went up to his face and he roared. It burned, not like heat, but as if the skin was melting. He thrashed around for but a second before his left arm would go up to his face, and with the metal plates on the bracer, he would scrape away the skin, ripping his own face apart to do so.

The vision in his right eye was tinged in red, either he was looking through the bright red liquid, or that his blood lust had taken over.

"I'm going to kill you." He said very simply. Black smoke seemed to escape from the corner of his mouth in a thin plume. And with a kick, he removed the spear from the area, sending it over the edge of the gear behind him as he whipped about to charge forward, his hands at his sides, open, claws positioned as if ready to rip the man apart, his skeletal wings folded back.

"We'll see about that."

His tone was harsh, cold. Tzenidaar had done more damage to Silver in a few moments than most people did to him in the entire course of a fight. Normally, he would have to admire and respect such resolve. But now was certainly not the time, nor the place. He had a score to settle with the Chimera, and he whole heartily intended to break him.

Silver was cycling energy throughout his body at a moderate rate; he needed to finish this quickly, but he couldn't risk inflicting any more damage to himself; Tzenidaar was more than capable of doing that himself. Defensive tactics weren't a workable strategy, so he did the only thing that he could think of in his state.

I'll play it HIS way.

He couldn't do a full out sprint on his beaten legs, and he didn't know how effectively he would fight with one arm. Well, if there was any time to find out, it was now. Leading with his right (obviously), Silver slowly inched towards Tzenidaar. He wasn't being hesitant; merely cautious. Considering his physical condition, it wasn't much of a surprise.

((Damnit. I'm out for the night. I'll be on tomorrow ASAP.))

Blood oozed from the self inflicted wound in his head, trailing after Tzenidaar as he charged the man. Very simply, if no offensive move was made by Moonblade first, Tzenidaar was going to smash his body right into his, like a charging bull. His body would lower for just a moment before he would spring upwards, both arms crossing over his front to smash against the man's upper body and chest area with his forearms. His aim was to take him down, get in close quarters, and let the animals that lurks in the subconscious of all being go at it. The beast would be unleashed.

102Maximos

A smirk.

It was time.

There was no formal annoucement and there never needed to be. This was the moment both men had come here for.

Maximos slowly opened his eyes turning around, he stared past the beating, and the blood and the churning of gears, and stared directly at Him. His glowing white eye poised to meet his destined opponent's.

There would be a moment of silence, as the two eye met. An understanding, beyond words.

Maximos' gloved right hand rose and pointed straight up.

The roof. And he was off.

Without a second glance or a word, he left. In a few moments, two black boots would let out a tell-tale tapping as they arrived on the Clocktower roof.

The brisk wind wiping up Maximos's jacket, and lashing at his hood. Even the wind knew the tale, there was a storm coming. A storm to be started right here.

With a click, the boots settled. And Maximos waited.

103Cristopher Reinhart

Everything around him came back into being as he'd shut out world out around him, his eyes shot open. That feeling, it was time, he knew it the moment their eyes met. Watching him raise his arm he knew what the simple gesture meant, the roof, it was their stage. No words, there were still no words coming from Reinhart, they weren't needed, not now, not yet. Without hesitation he pushed his back off the pillar and shot into the air in pursuit of his old friend, of him. Just as he displayed quite the acrobatic show coming down Reinhart performed it going up.

Seconds later he was gone, out of sight, away from both teams leaving Ryugin to its fate. Fate awaited him closer to the heavens this was comfirmed the moment he stepped foot on the stage. There he was, waiting, patient, their eyes would lock once more for a moment as the wind threatened to knock them off their feet.

Indeed there was a storm brewing, the clouds rumbled overhead, it was perfect.

As his hood and jacket wipped in the wind his hair and jacket mimicked the movements. There they stood, face to face, it was here, it was finally time, their fists would once again clash, the storm was no threat to the weakened tower. They were.

104Maximos

And so its finally time....isnt it...

A drop of rain fell upon the cold roof. And a single glowing eye met this man...this challenger...this vicious opponent.

...Reinhart.

Maximos didnt have to puncuate the statement the gods did with a crack of thunder rippling across the sky threatening to tear it in twain. Even the gods knew what was about to happen here today, and trembled.

Maximos lifted his fully gloved right hand, his fist slowly clenching with the squeak of squashed leather.

Three more drops of rain fell from the skies.

You and I...

His right arm sparked violet sparks rippling up and down its surface, thick and yet semi-transparent black ethereal tentacles burst into view as if breaking through his arm, though they never even rustled his sleave. This arm seemed ready to crush...to main...to destroy.

...we are creatures of great power.

The arm surged violently lashing out, as if to attack anything that came within its reach. Maximos flung his arm down to his side, the sparks, the tendrils, all came to a compete stop, vanishing as if they were never there.

But our contest is beyond that.

His arm balled into a fist yet again.

Let us fight with what the gods gave us, with fist, and foot, with blood and bone.

His arm shot out, pointing directly at his destined opponent. That glowing white eye almost immediately lashing out a flare of what seemed to be white flame.

Show me your true strength Reinhart!!

His feet burst into motion. Left over right, over left, over right, his right arm cocked back like a cannon with a bullet loaded. There was no trick to this, he would charge at Reinhart with all he had, holding back nothing and deliver a punch, straight at the mans jaw.

This the core of combat, would be the heart of their destined battle.

105Cristopher Reinhart

As in agreement or response a dark red glow came from Reinhart's right eye, the light easily visible through his hair trailed off him into the wind then dissapeared. It was a steady stream of energy leaking from him, his fingers moved at his sides as he watched and listened to those words, his words. He need not respond with words, their fight would be exactly as stated, fist, foot, blood, and bone. Like him sparks flared about his body, tendrils swirled around his arms, his fists balled suddenly and it was all gone.

Maximos Wrote:

Show me your true strength Reinhart!! The words rang in his ears, they echoed through his head, and there was no more restraint as his destined opponent made the first move. A whisper...

"Strength? What is strength? Will you show it to me....."

Reinhart finally let it all go and screamed the name of the man he'd been fated to see and fight again.

"...Maximos!!"

No sooner than the name left his lips he ran head first into Maximos' attack mirroring the man infront of him. His right fist cocked back at his side, step after step they looked as if they'd run into each other. Then just as they reached each other's range Reinhart's fist shot out just as his did. Everything had led up to this, this first moment, no teams, no Heaven, no Hell, no one else, just them and the rain.

106Maximos

That feeling...

That feeling cannot be mistaken for any other.

It would never be.

The feeling of flesh grinding against flesh. The rich sanquine shock of pain, rushing through Maximos's face, as Reinharts fist collided with it. Teeth digging into his lip, tearing the soft flesh with a gentle and yet sudden sting. This swirled with the rush as he felt his knuckles bury deep into that man's face.

There was a moment where time seemed to halt. As fists met faces, and the sight of Maximos and Reinhart locked dual punches froze in some unearthly beings minds eye. In this moment, when Maximos' body as a whole shoved against the assualting fist, just as his knuckles ground into Cris's face a moment extra. Every second counted, every instant of combat.

And then....thunder. As if they had been held back for years in wait for this battle, the rain burst from the clouds falling upon the two fighters, as the thunder rippled through air. The fight bell. It had begun.

Maximos' body could resist the massive force no longer, and back it flew, his shoulder struck the ground first, immediately followed by his hips, and then his legs. This was a tiny battle ground, and yet it was all they needed. Arms had already sprung into motion, his back twisted to right himself, shoving his legs beneath him, as he skidded to the edge of the triangular ring.

Just the balls of his feet, and his fingertips perched on the edge of the cold, wet, tile.

A few drops of blood mixed with the rushing downpour as they fell from his smiling lips.

Silence fell as his eyes met his opponent.

[II]

107Cristopher Reinhart

Thunder.

Was it thunder or the force behind thier punches?

Their first attack was only a ripple in the ocean compared to what would come of this fight.

Pain.

It was both bitter and sweet as it was delivered and taken. No defense, no fear. Both men landed thier strike giving each other but a taste of things to come as fists landed on their mark. Years, it had been years these fists were held back, now they struck with a fury that rivaled the thunder above. Reinhart felt a crack, he heard it in his ears, his jaw was hit as his fist met Maximos' face. His cheek cut from the inside as the soft flesh was pushed to his teeth and he too was sent backwards.

Face twisted from the force, it took the rest of his body with it, he was lifted from the tile with that one hit. One full turn in mid air and he struck the roof with his back cracking the old tile beneath him. Quickly he forced his legs over somersaulting backwards sliding to the roof's edge. His figers almost like claws scratched against the surface in an attempt to stop him from actually falling from the tower.

Looking up, a trickle of blood ran down the side of his mouth, dripping on the now wet tile, flowing along with the water. Again their eyes met and for a moment Reinhart raised his hand to check his jaw, no dislocation, not yet. Rain began to soak him, his hair clung to his face, the wind biting his skin, it couldn't get any better, he couldn't ask for a better place. Crouched, hands down, the only sound was that of water hitting the tile, then a roar! Thunder roared overhead and Reinhart was off towards Maximos, like a race horse exploding out of the gate.

Footing was a small issue, they'd been through worse once or twice before surely. Closing the distance his fist cocked back once again like the hammer on a gun ready to shoot a deadly bullet. No face this time, his fist shot out low, hooked, upwards to strike him in the midsection. His feet planted, sliding him across the last small distance before Maximos was reached.

Full force, there wasn't going to be another chance, let it all out, this it, the fight he...they...had been waiting for.

She ignored the shock images being thrown her way as she touched flesh, only cringing as several of them kept replaying the crunch of fist into Jaw of Maximos and Reinhart. But all Jessica saw was one camera angle that seemed to show what she -knew- to be Reinhart's foot going over the edge only to be pulled back before it all began anew. Where had he gone?

Was the match already over, or did he just not care anymore?

The Captain of Team a** Tear had just up and vanished after the first fight, leaving the rest of his team to their own devices as he went about doing whatever it was that had been more important than being there with his team when they were outnumbered in a situation that he, himself, had put them into. With Reinhart and Maximos off in their own little world it left Tzenidaar and Stryphe against Moonblade, Nyako, and a bloodied, pantsless man.

Perhaps that was exactly why he had left.

Perhaps that was why he'd gone to pick up some luggage.

Beepbeepbeep.

The FIGHTER devices registered an Offensive Striker. Pointless, considering that due to the special rules that had been put into place there was no need to announce Strikers before they happened. However, the most curious thing was that it was registered to TAT Captain Joshua.

...and it was the only warning they would have.

GUUUUUUUUUUUWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~!!!

The entire roof of the Clockwork Purgatory exploded inwards as a massive object flew threw it; splintering the rooftop and sending both the debris and the occupants falling through the interior. Machinery was torn out as if it were tissue paper. Struts, supports, and rafters fell like a handful of toothpicks as whatever it was that had demolished the rooftop continued through the structure.

Whatever the object was it smashed through the larger gears and even struck the large center cog head-on as it flew through; tearing it straight out of the walls and bringing it down with it. The integrity of the entire structure was compromised as cracks shot through the stonework and sections of the building slid off-kilter; threatening to collapse inwards and fall with the rest of the debris down the stairwell on the inside.

"YEEEEEEEEEEEE~HAAAAAW~!"

The cameras only caught it for an instant, but it looked like -

  • it was almost as if -

With a cowboy hat waving in the air and a look of unequaled glee on his face, a 128,000 lb adamantine block shot through the building like a meteor coming down to earth. Thank god the spectators were all outside.

By the end of the day, some fourteen year old kid in Toronto, Canada would post a clip of that on YouTube with the "THWOMP" sound-effect edited in and a closing frame that said "WTFPWNED".

110Ryugi Kazamaru

The WALL crashed down and Shattered its way through the clocktower, falling through the middle of the field. Ryugi braced for some massive attack, but relaxed as the massive block dropped past his position. This was just too much to handle without pants. Ryugi had courage, but this was ridiculous... So, after the massive chunk of DOOM fell from the ceiling, Ryugi punched out a window, and hopped out of the tower.

He'd be back soon....

The battle grew more intense as the spattering of rain trickled in through the gaping whole in the clock's massive face. Turning on its own independent accord, the hands of the clock faced the time and marked the progression of the match in full. It was hand to have a constant reminder of how long they had by the measure of time right next to them. Nayko gripped the railing of the catwalk and trembled at the force inside him. He wanted to let loose, go all out, and take these Hell Spawn back to the pit.

At the back of his mind, Nayko felt a strange twinge. Something was happening outside and it set him off. He grew unattached from the match and began feeling the drops of rain falling from the sky as if they were his fingers. Feeling the air glide past the endless drops soothed the troubled angel, until the block fell. The magnitude of its size shook the air and clutched at the rain as it plummeted past it. Nayko dropped under the pressure of the block. Falling to his knees, Nayko made for his move. It didn't matter to these Hell Spawn if he attacked, and it stopped being an issue to him the moment he discovered their nature. Nayko wished to end this, one way or another.

Higher, I've gone past the point of honor. I need the strength to purify these Hell Spawn, and I request your assisstance. Let your graces and your love cherish the virtueous and punish the wicked. Damn them, oh he who wroughts the realm of evil, and let your strength wash over me like the currents of time! The water, it always felt like home. Nayko retreated away from the catwalks, running, more so than walking, up the cogs toward the hole in the clock face. The match below needed to end, as did this round in the tournament. If Nayko wished to see that fiery red haired kid brother again, he'd need to come out a winner. "I'll take my chances now, and beg for forgiveness later."

The block came. The seismic crash crumbled through the elegant exterior and mechanical interior as if it were stone descending into a sand castle. There was a pause, an instant where the gears stopped and the clock remained still. All eyes averted to the roof, and none seemed to comprehend this event. For whatever reason, fortune smiled on Nayko. Out of everyone there, he would be the only one to know of the behemoth block's decent before it ever came close to the arena; and he prepared himself acordingly. When it rained, it poured. The free falling droplettes of water were hardly free, and the blocks thunderous crashing through the tower must have scarred the earth horribly. This Hell Spawn was no different. The impact of something that size and weight would no doubt bring the building close to collapsing. All the infrastructure now came whizzing down with the whistling wonder while water washed Nayko's worried mind.

The clock tower held a good deal of the life giving liquid already. Since Nayko needed to force his way through the clock face, and inadvertantly cleared a path for the rain to flow through, there was a good supply of water for his disposal. But this far surpassed his hopes. The caving of the roof only opened up a door to limitless quantities of the beautiful and fragrent kiss from the heavens. His back was wet. The rain didn't stop like they did as the block soared through, and neither did Nayko. Following the block was his response to the Hell Spawn's rediculous notions to disregard honor for this match. Thousands of razor sharp shards of ice sailed through the air and spiralled downward to follow the blocks path. Caught in the drag, the ice shards flew through the air with incredible speed and accuracy. The air was already thick with moisture, but this took the cake.

All the razor sharp shards of ice had a mark, and that mark was Tzenidaar. Forget the rules, they were tossed away anyways. Forget the fascade of honor, these Hell Spawn didn't have any. Forget the restraint, Nayko was bringing his friends out of this alive and ok. The thousands of shards sailed in a wide corkscrew that blossomed as the drew near, drawing into Tzenidaar like metal nails would be to a giant magnet. They were small, they were aimed for him, and they were everywhere. The barrage wasn't general in any way. It came quick and followed the decent of the block. There wasn't any logical way for this man to evade all the ice shards, especially if he, along with everyone else, didn't know they were coming.

A simple tactic like that wouldn't garuntee a victory. Nayko needed to do more, and quick. He had a second or two before anyone could regain their wits, and he chose then to make his moves. Following the barrage of deadly ice shards, a series of thick flowing strands of water lept from the damp walls and lashed out at the demon. All around his arms, legs, waist, neck, and even the bones of his wing clung the clear liquid. On command, the water froze made a permanent clutch to Tzenidaar skin and clothes. Many people held the strength to shake these shackles free. But anyone who did so would find that they'd love a piece of themselves along with it. Ice had a way of sticking to things in the most perplexing ways. Tzenidaar should just as well tear out his own throat if wished to forcfully remove these restraints.

"A blade from heaven shall soar forth to purify the wicked." Nayko regurgitated the words his Dominion made him reherse. It calmed him. The water soaked in through the ceiling, and life appeared to be moving again. The waters that fell halted only a few feet underneath the lowest member of the two teams and began to collect in a free standing pool of water. That water collected both from the outside and the previously deposited amount inside the tower. It was as if all the rain were drawn to the epicenter of that pool. The collected resevoir rushed up at the combatents like a gyser. Within that cool gyser rester solid chunks of ice which quested to pummel a soon to be submerged Tzenidaar.

Although this process would take a decent amount of time, Nayko was confident in the fact that Tzenidaar would be too busy dealing with both Silver and the ice shards to notice the collecting water. In the end, it didn't matter. Everyone was getting submerged with this torrential explosion of water that rocketed up through the clock tower. Nayko lept from the hole, bathing in the rain that saught him and clung to his person. The gyser would jet out of the roofless opening. Of all the people ensnared in the blast, only Tzenidaar would be assaulted by the ice chunks inside. Between the soaring shards aimed to cut him to ribbons, the shackles made to lacerate his limbs, and the blast of concentrated water constructed to pummel and crush him, there truly seemed no way for Tzenidaar to come out of this in one piece.

Outside the tower

A certain violet haired woman dashed around the crowd as a certain silver haired fighter jumped out of a window on the tower. As the man landed, none other than Vargus Kobayashi ran over to greet him, and shove a small bundle into his hands.

I saw what happened on the view screens, I thought you might need these...

Ryugi looked at the bundle, and felt the hard plates within the fabric, and instantly knew what she'd brought.

Vargus... Sometimes I wonder how the hell you know to do all of this...

The girl smiled and gave him a big hug and kiss as the fans cheered and cameras flashed, images for tomorrows newspapers. Ryugi returned the embrace, and quickly dressed. Then, before leaving, pulsed his renewed energy, his stamina increasing slightly from the sight of his love, he shot into the sky towards the tower...

Silver had been ready to act as Tzenidaar as he bum-rushed him. Bending his legs, he braced himself for the chimera's assault. The moment before he could implement them, his perfect concentration was shattered by a certain event. Nothing could have prepared him what was about to come crashing down on them.

themightyjello Wrote:

"What th~"

His attention was immediately drawn to the ceiling as an object of epic proportions thundered down from the heavens. WHERE the hell a block of adamantine that size came from, and how the hell it got there were questions that probably wouldn't be answered. What mattered was that he could be caught off guard to Tzenidaar's charge. Considering his bloodlust and the momentum he had picked up, the Chimera would surely plow poor Moonblade over.

He continued to build up energy, despite anything that was happening.

There he was, his target, aiming to meet his charge. Good, he didnt want to have to deal with a coward who just keeps on running, or someone who relies on others. He could respect a man who stood up for themselves, even if they were weak; even if they were stupid.

And even as he smashed into the man, the rising motion to lift him off his feet, or rather, foot, as one of his legs were damaged, his arms would uncross, snaking out to smack either side of the man's face in a backhaded motion. It wasnt really a legitimate attack, for it would be light, almost like a brushing motion as his fingers would flare open and snap back, clawed fingers snagging onto the back of Moonblade's ears.

However, at the same time, his wings would drive upwards from underneath his arms. Again, in the same fashion as before. He wasnt interested in disabling the man's arms anymore though. The two wings would slam upwards into Moonblade's torso merely a split second after he would be struck by the charge. Depending on the amount of tilt created from the hit while he would be in the air for a short period, they would tear into his thoratic cavity at an upwards angle, either ending up protruding out his back, or if the tilt was enough, tear directly up through his body to stick out on top of the shoulderblades.

The attack was mainly to disable the man's ability to use his lungs, and that caustic attack from before, as they would have been punctured, and possibly collapsed. Breathing would prove extremely difficult. Secondly, with a sudden strike such as this, from a low angle, at extreme close proximity, the attack from a blindspot should act to inflict pain or shock to break his concentration, even if his body was numb. Also, it would provide the opening for the chimera to grab Moonblade's ears.

Initially, he was going to slam his head into the other man's in a simple headbutt, thats why he would take away the man's ability to breath magic fire. However, the roof had caved in. Quite frankly, he wasnt paying much attention to his surroundings, concentrating on spilling the blood of the man before him and eating his corpse by the actions he would take.

However, before he would perform his headbutt, he would have had to stop. Because the gear they were standing on would be struck by THE WALL, making it topple as their balance would shift and make them plummet to the depths of the dark tower.

He took just a moment to figure out what was happening though as he looked around for a second. However, he didnt need his eyes for what he would do next. Initially, he had planned to headbutt the man, then perform this action, but without performing the headbutt, instead using his head for better use, the rest of his body would continue to move on its own accord even as they fell through the air.

With the sense of touch, his thumbs would slip around to the front of the man's face before they would simply press into Moonblade's eye sockets, destroying his ability to see and annihilating the nervous receptors in the vicinity. The sharpened fingernails like claws would perform this function easily.

Now, back to the main point at hand.

While Tzenidaar would be looking around with a sneer on his face, he would notice that the other members of Ryugin were nowhere to be found. Both Ryugi and Rykono having apparently run away. And with the fact that something had just smashed the roof, he imagined it was their doing, unknowing that it was his captain's fault.

Honour? The only one without it was the hypocrit who declaired himself all that was good in the world, whose views were completely biased by his relationship with the rest of his team. At no point in time had Tzenidaar ever did anything dishonourable. He gave his opponent the chance to surrender. He didnt try to backstab him out of the blue without warning. He didnt interfere in anyone else's matches. He didnt break any rules... yet. By all accords, everything was legal.

This was a fight. It was a competition. It was not some friendly spar between two good friends; and when they were finished, would go have a picnic in a daisy strewn field with all their other friends and go dancing like a bunch of hippies on a high. This was Heaven or Hell, a competitive tournament. If you didnt come to fight, you will lose. If you didn't come prepared for the possibility of loss, you will never win.

The cowards dared to interrupt his fight?

This angered him. Even more than before when he vocally declaired that he was going to kill Moonblade. That was a simple threat blurted out because of his flare of emotions. But now, he was overcome with RAGE.

Rage; it was the highest form of anger. The emotion which flared into roaring unforgiving flames. Mercy would be killed. They would all die.

Even as the tiny raindrops would unnaturally swirl towards Tzenidaar, his entire body erupted, similar to that of Ryugi's self made explosive body. Tiny bits of razor sharp ice would instantaneously be vapourized as the flashfires would erupt through the air he was falling through. Any form of ice and water within the radius of the blast would be turned to scalding hot steam instantly, blasting through the hole in the roof and the broken windows of the upper stories, because s**t like that rises.

Additionally, with the residual heat created by the wave, the temperature inside the tower would be like an extremely powerful oven set at seven hundred degrees centigrade. If you place a piece of salmon in an oven with an open door set at six hundred and fifty degrees centigrade, it will be completely cooked within two minutes. (Personal experience. The forno oven where I work is set to 620 degrees celcius. It was on too high today, at 650+, and salmon cooked way too fast.)

The interior of the building would be scortched black with soot as even water would incinerate against its sides with the initial heat wave.

And as for the captain of Team Ryugin? Well, with the proximity he would be in with the Chimera, he would probably be incinerated. Whether or not he would have escaped, countered, or blocked the initial resulting strikes of his charge be well and conscious from the stabbing and eye gauging, the resulting fireball would still ensue.

The chimera's body would be nude, as his clothes, being realtively mundane, did not have any form of heat resistance and would simply disintegrate with the heatwave.

Water? There would be no water to remain in the area for long. Within seconds of entering the oven, it would evaporate.

And even as his body was wreathed in flames, his facial expression never changed. It was twisted into a beastial sneer as he plummeted through the air, possibly with the corpse of the Ryugin captain impaled on his wings. The fire... burned black. Darkest where his wounds were located and where blood flowed; the right side of his face.

Efreet's blood had awakened in the man. Normally, the blood of an individual woud only awaken when in extreme close proximity to the source; that one being Vahn Fah. The extreme emotion of rage simply wasnt enough to cause this reaction on its own. However, there was something else. Hatred.

The one power Tzenidaar could consciously use was negative energy. And the stuff simply seemed to pour out of his body, strengthened by the hatred which ravaged his mind and erased his ability to think properly. The swirls of negative energy would appear to blot out the cameras' vision, hiding most of his body as he fell but for a flash of an arm here or his face.

It burned in him. Stronger than the natural flames he could produce. It warped it. It allowed Efreet to take over, consuming the flames, corrupting the flames, empowering tha flames.

Tzenidaar's body may be highly resistant to fire, as previously displayed in his past fight against Sierra of Team Liberei Fatali, who would wash him with flames with a temperature of over one thousand degrees centigrade, but that still wasnt enough to even make him flinch.

But this was different. His skin seemed to begin to char and flake off even as the black flames immolated him. This flame, Efreet's flame, was pure, everything burned under its power. Maybe he couldnt feel it, or maybe he did, but his rage and hatred simply overpowered the feeling, clouded his mind, but he would direct his vision directly up to the man who would try and throw speckles of ice into a furnace, unless he had already disappeared.

"RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the scream shook the very walls of the tower, shaking the soot which lined its walls off to fall like black snow to the lower parts of this hell, this Clockwork Purgatory.

The beast had been unleashed. They were going to die.

Gods didnt exist here. Only monsters.

The WALL crashed down at the base of the tower; having outrun all of the debris which it had created and smashing into the bottom floor of the tower before it finally came to a halt. An unstoppable force meeting an immovable object was never something that ended pretty. Simply the built up air pressure from the WALL plummeting down that shaft was enough to blast the door wide open and give the spectators outside a first-hand glimpse of the destruction as the WALL tore itself a new basement in the building; sinking in at least a few feet as the stone blocks that composed the floor cracked into gravel.

The police and bouncers alike stepped in, enforcing the area around the tower that the spectators were to keep clear; though with a spectacle like that right on the other side of the door they had to press a line with their riot shields to keep some of the pushier groups back. Dust spilled out, despite the rain, as powdered stone that had been shot up into the air by the crashing debris began to settle. Pieces of stone and machinery were littered upon the ground inside, but only a faint shower of tile chips from the roof had come down upon the outside of the building.

Despite all the power that had come down before them, it had shown a remarkable amount of control.

"Look!" A woman in a knit cap shouted, and the crowd fell silent. They stood in awed silence as a silhouette appeared to them inside the structure, standing from a crouch on top of some dark pedestal.

"Tch."

Three fingers pulled down the brim of his cowboy hat as Joshua looked up; the brim shielding his eyes from the rain that fell through the open roof as he stared into the distance.

His earlier exuberance was gone, he was quiet, contemplative, or maybe just watching and waiting. The rain was falling, but the rain was not natural... at least not anymore it wasn't. Someone had tainted it, something was definitely wrong with it, it was almost as if -

The demon licked his lower lip, tasting the rain that had fallen from above.

There was no doubt about it. Someone had tainted that rain. It tasted like holy water. But not only that... it was hot.

Rykono Tadaya Wrote:

The waters that fell halted only a few feet underneath the lowest member of the two teams and began to collect in a free standing pool of water. That water collected both from the outside and the previously deposited amount inside the tower. It was as if all the rain were drawn to the epicenter of that pool.

He didn't even need to look down to know there was an unnatural amount of water gathering at his feet around the base of the WALL. The water was being manipulated, and where there is manipulation there is magic. He could smell the stink of that celestial through his magical reach even from the base of the tower.

There wasn't enough though... there would never be enough with just the rain. It was coming from other places, from everywhere else even. Every drop of rain that fell for miles around was running towards this mass of water that was building; forming rivers that ran uphill in the streets simply so they could reach the Clockwork Purgatory on command of a self-righteous heaven. Though this was still not enough for what the celestial was intending, more would have to be gathered to fit that amount of water.

Pipes burst in the nearby buildings, fire hydrants upturned in the street as the water pressure skyrocketed. Everything, everything was being drawn in to form that mass of water that was building at the base of the tower.

Joshua even went so far as to spit and watch it curve back like a boomerang.

The Captain crouched, placing his right hand flat upon the surface of the water as it gathered in around him. He turned his head only for a moment, looking to the men standing guard outside the door.

"...stand back..."

Rykono Tadaya Wrote:

The collected resevoir rushed up at the combatents like a gyser.

The hollow stairwell of the Clock Tower became the mouth of Old Faithful for a few seconds; everything that had gathered and would gather rushing together at once to fire itself upwards in a single blast aimed to submerge the entire interior of the building in tainted water.

And Joshua was riding right atop it. A glowing disc of energy under his feet, he held onto his hat with one hand that began to glow red more and more intensely as the geyser shot him towards the roof riding atop his positive energy barrier.

Rykono Tadaya Wrote:

Everyone was getting submerged with this torrential explosion of water that rocketed up through the clock tower. Nayko lept from the hole, bathing in the rain that saught him and clung to his person. The gyser would jet out of the roofless opening.

The torrent of water shot skywards, carrying with it pieces of debris that had been caught up in the flow and anything else that could not get out of the way, including a glowing disc that was hurled into the air like a Frisbee and took up a place superimposed over the clouds at the crest of its ascent. The crowds from below would see Nyako hanging in the rain with that disc behind him... like some sort of perverse Bat Signal.

And then it all went straight to hell.

WH-KK!

The two seemed to hang in the air in frozen motion while everything processed - both Nyako and Joshua, so close he could have whispered into the celestial's ear as a fist glowing brightly with ribbons of burning red energy drove itself deep into Nyako's stomach.

The celestial had been watching the chimera so intently, he wouldn't notice the TAT Captain blasting out the same hole that Nyako had used to exit the Clock Tower, using the geyser itself as a springboard.

"Now look what you've gone and done." The words were spoken harshly into Nyako's left ear... not a threat... he was being informed of the monster he had just awoken so that he could know that, no matter what came to pass next, he was directly responsible for it.

The fist twisted, and Joshua grabbed a handful of the celestial's garb while pulling back; practically leaning back as he brought his knees to his chest and placed his feet flat against Nyako's own. There was a blast at the same time that Joshua shoved off, and a jet of negative energy fired through the celestial's torso; through flesh and bone and spirit, doing little damage to the body but that was not its function.

Like being fired out of a cannon, Nyako would careen downwards and away from the building. If he couldn't stop himself he'd go straight through the roof of an office across the street.

The Captain, conversely went up and over; ribbons of crimson energy trailing behind his heels as he spun in the air and into a swan dive through the broken roof of the tower.

Someone had to put a stop to Tzenidaar before he killed someone other than Moonblade.

"Whoa. This is intense!" commented the man with the huge afro standing amongst the crowd of spectators. He was eating some popcorn and sipping on a coke while watching the fighting going on inside the clocktower via the television displays. The whole thing with the WALL crashing through the tower out of nowhere had him on edge. Afro-sama couldn't wait to see the outcome, even though he was pretty sure what that outcome would already be. He took some mental notes of all he saw.

((Adema - Immortal))

As Moonblade feel back, he immediately turned his attention back to the Chimera. It was too late to prevent the assault, but perhaps he'd have a chance to stop it before Tzenidaar could do considerable damage. Silver didn't know how much more he could take.

It was as if some sinister force had the remote control over time, wishing him to experience the events as they happened in super slow motion. He watched as the Chimera clawed over to the back of his head, snagging onto his ears. Even as the wings poised to strike, his 'good' arm was pinned between the two of them, hand open across Tzenidaar's chest. They continued to inch forward.

...

Slowly.

...

Silver's spine tingled with the anticipation of the strike, but not in a good way. It was the natural response when you think someone is going to-

~CRRRUNCH!

The boned appendages pierced through Moonblade's body, recoloring their sickly yellowish white to a glistening dark red. Tzenidaar would look up towards the heavens, probably to investigate what happened. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't see past the Chimera's mug. Pretty soon, he wouldn't see much of anything. Time taunted him further as he watched the fingernails creep slowly into the line of his vision.

The brute's rage-filled sneer would be the last thing he'd see.

The Captain's mind immediately supplied him with his own mental images of their own creation. His entire life flashed in front of his sightless eyes; his childhood, his previous triumphs, his greatest battles... all in an instant. Though he had little idea what was going on, his mind was working at over a mile a minute.

He had no idea that one of his allies were even getting involved, nor did he ask for their assistance. He too, followed the 'rules' of engagement. He may be stubborn, but he wasn't going to give in unless he was completely knocked unconscience. More than ever this had morphed into a bout for survival; KILL or be killed. Ultimately, it was Tzenidaar that lost it, not his team.

Desperation. Hatred.

Silver made a last ditch effort for retribution in a fashion that wouldn't result in the deaths of his allies and the thousands of spectators surrounding the tower. His right hand was immediately enveloped in a sapphire veil as he began to drain all available energies from Tzenidaar at an incredible; negative, magical, life force... you name it. If Ryugi would have been close enough to witness it, he would have immediately recognized it... and the negative effects it had on Moonblade's body.

Those harmful effects were instantaneous as he was overwhelmed by the negative energies within a matter of moments! If he could see, his vision would be bright white with pain. While the siphon generally redirected all energy output by the victim into Moonblade, there was no way he could even keep it up without the risk of his veins disintegrating. 'Efreet' wrecked havoc throughout his system.

"GGGRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"

There were just those not built to handle Hell's Fire.

All of that stored energy, negative and otherwise, exploded out of him in a chaotic torrent of emerald flame. In that simultaneous moment, Tzenidaar exploded with the fury of Efreet, burning with an intensity almost unimaginable. Silver's breastplate was disintegrated by his own power, his uniform going up with it. The man would be almost unrecognizable, scorched and charred to the utmost degree. The two furnaces of energy went up in a spectacular show of Green and Black flames. The tower was scorched and eroded, critically wounding the facilities structural integrity.

Dark, acidic flames from the pits of hell itself. Such destruction was unparalleled, as those watching up in heaven would witness. For Tzenidaar and Silver...

It was a loooooong fall to hell.

He wasnt paying attention at the time he would dig his thumbs into the man's eyes. He was looking around. As for the hand which sucked out the endless maelstrom of negative energy with a bit of positive energy mixed in, it wouldnt do too much to drain Tzenidaar, though it would still feel like having his bones torn out of his body or the like. He could survive it, but it didnt mean that there were no ill effects.

His face winced in pain even as his lips were still pulled back in fury with a gurgled cry.

Moonbade's absorption of energy into his system through his arm would not cause it to wither as quickly as when Tzenidaar injected pure negative energy directly into the man's shoulder. Because he was taking the energy directly out of Tzenidaar, there would be a smidgeon of positive energy included, that small amount like the yin and yang. Even with the dominance of one, there was still a tiny bit of the other. That was why Tzenidaar would even be alive rather than some sort of undead creature.

And so it would be, his arm would slowly decay as he absorbed enough energy to release his emerald flame once again from his body, while the black flames of Efreet would consume Tzenidaar's own.

The caustic flames would begin to burn into the chimera's skin, easily removing the outer appendages of his fingers to leave stumps and remove his eyelids from his face as he screached in pain, sounds that didnt come from human vocal chords. His hands pulled back as the skin began to dissolve before charring over and flaking off from his own flames even as his wings pushed outwards to remove the man from the close proximity, legs thrashing out hard to roundhouse the body in the grasp of the extra appendages even as the acidic flames melted them off.

And so, the captain of Ryugin would be send at a downwards angle to the side, accelerating the descent into the face of one stone wall of the tower.

Meanwhile, the negative energy and flames would pour out of the bloody mess of his own body created by the acidic green fire. Skin melted before burning and flaking off as the two would be seperated, the black flames only strengthening from the fires before being cauterized shut and charring over once again. And with the removal of the outer layers of his skin, so too would the acid be removed with it.

And down, down, down, the beast would fall to the stony floor below with the rest of the other pieces of clockwork which would follow in the wake of the mighty WALL. His wings tried to slow the descend, heat pulling air upwards to stop the rapid descent, but having parts of his wings melted, the membranes made of fire would be small, leaving him to land with a gross thud on raw knees.

This is what is was like to be skinless. Pain? It all seemed like a pleasant warmth to him, even as layers of skin fell off his body and tougher flesh just began to degenerate. So this was what it was like to have raw flesh exposed. He knew he couldnt feel it, because of the flames which were a part of him, consuming him, but he knew that it would damn well hurt.

He looked around for the body of his opponent, it was not completely because he was still thinking about the fight. Rather, a part of him, his subconscious was beginning to rule his actions. It was the anamalistic urge to finish the man off if he was still moving. However, his vision was nothing normal anymore. His eyes were more or less gone. But he saw by something else. The flames or Efreet were alive, the beast acting like a parasytic symbiote. It ate him, but also, it gave him strength, replacing his eyes with that of fire, but everything he saw was lined like thermal vision.

Ryugi's jump had taken him above the tower, just as a massive gout of fire and searing hot steam erupted through the top of it. Ryugi felt the massive burst of power, even as he saw it, and knew that SOMEONE on his team was likely getting cooked alive down there. Why? It didn't take a genius to know that only he and Reinhart could use fire, and as far as he knew, Reinhart couldn't do THAT.

He shot over the tower and dropped through the hole in the roof, just as a voice rang out.

Silver Moonblade Wrote:

He dropped further, ready to help his Captain and friend if the need arose...

It had all happened so fast- for a second, you think you're comfortable: Sipping on a beer, kicking back and watching your team do what it does best. Not so.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how one looked at it, team a** Tear had begun to do their worst. Which was a whole lot more destructive than their best.

themightyjello Wrote:

The entire roof of the Clockwork Purgatory exploded inwards as a massive object flew threw it; splintering the rooftop and sending both the debris and the occupants falling through the interior. Machinery was torn out as if it were tissue paper. Struts, supports, and rafters fell like a handful of toothpicks as whatever it was that had demolished the rooftop continued through the structure.

Beer sprayed from Stryphe's mouth, his eyes widening in shock. In fact, he'd almost dropped the bottle he was holding onto with so much ease moments ago. Now, since it hadn't been drop, he was gripping it so tight that the damn thing was about to shatter.

"DAMN!" He barked, astonished. And here he thought Josh'd gone to get a pretzel or something. Wrong.

And for a second, he'd almost forgotten to sheild himself from the debris raining down around him. It was a last second arm, mostly in reflex, that rose to cover his head and neck as glass and splinters rained down. The larger chunks of the tower's support would be falling more towards the center of the arena, where the WALL had completely obliterated the roofs foundation. Stryphe was too the side, and the larger peices of support structure were still barely clinging to life above him. He was decently safe.

From this position (sheilding himself, head down), he'd have a clear view of where the WALL was headed- straight down. It was a long fall from up here, not from from the face of the massive structure. Nevertheless, it wouldn't be very long before Joshua came back up the Clockwork Purgatory's depths. He'd missed the icicles- the time Stryphe could have spent checking the roof for anything more falling death he spent peering down the clocktower and retreiving his halberd from it's spot on the catwalk.

He managed to take a sip of beer, too, before it hit him: Were Tzen and his opponent even still alive at this point? He hadn't checked since Joshua came blasting through the rough, riding the meanblock.

He'd only barely managed to see the plummeting Tzen (and opponent) before...

"s**t."

Kraun Wrote:

Even as the tiny raindrops would unnaturally swirl towards Tzenidaar, his entire body erupted, similar to that of Ryugi's self made explosive body. Tiny bits of razor sharp ice would instantaneously be vapourized as the flashfires would erupt through the air he was falling through. Any form of ice and water within the radius of the blast would be turned to scalding hot steam instantly, blasting through the hole in the roof and the broken windows of the upper stories, because s**t like that rises.

With all the strength he could muster in his legs, and with a burst of demonic power, he shot himself up through the hole Joshua and the WALL had conveniently left, leaving the searing interior of the structure and all the combatants inside behind.

No one would be able to live in that hell for long- no one. Maybe save for Tzen (at least as far as Stryphe knew).

This had to end. Now.

For a moment, Stryphe seemed suspended in midair. He could look down on the tower now, and was off to the side. It had been in his plan to leap at this slight of an angle- simply because he didn't want to fall back inside. Why not? Not because he was afraid of the Clockwork Purgatory turned oven, that's for damn sure.

He whirled about to face his foe- the clocktower itself.

Demonic Omnipotence

His eyes welled with the bringing forth of his inner demons- the true hellspawn, Stryphe, and the ancient and mighty Jormungandr. His long, jet black hair whipped about wildly in the open air above the clocktower. He clutchedhis halberd by the very end of the pole (with two hands- the beer fell to the earth) and held it high into the air, as if to strike a hammer down on all the world. The air crackled around his body, water rose off his form as steam. Snakelike, wispy streams of energy spewing forth from his emerald smoke-filled eyes spiraled around his arms and along the shaft off his raised weapon.

He smirked, and the heavens were divided.

It began with a glow- the blade of the halberd emanated an emerald-green glow before it seemed to explode. In truth, it was actually growing- very, very fast. Stryphe's demonic power and the halberd's blade had become one. What was once a halberd was now a glavie-like blade of energy that was twice as long as the clocktower was wide and about as wide as one of the many streets below. The blade, made of raw energy, cleaved with a supernatural sharpness. Such condensed energy, with particles moving at such an increased, unstable state, cut at the molecular level. There was no stopping this power, no sheilding from such an attack- only saving ones own life.

He brought the weapon down, teeth clenched. Feral in effort, scientific in concentration, Stryphe wasn't really out to kill anyone- this was an effort save the lives of those locked in a battle to certain death. He would give those within the tower a common enemy to deal with.

The attack was far from sneaky once the blade had actually been manifested, but it was too late once it was in the world. There was no possible way anyone in or around the tower- their senses peaked, would miss this coming. That was the point: Get the ******** to your senses and out of the way. And honestly, it just felt damn, damn good.

The weapon would part the clouds on it's way down, leaving a scar through which sunlight would beam down on him and and the clocktower as if acting as a beacon for the whole world. This is where s**t was going down.

The air behind the weapon of intense energy was blurred and almost frayed, as if the halberd was about to cleave time and space itself. Time and space, however, would remain intact. The clocktower would not.

Stryphe began to fall at the pace of his swing, a spec to spectators. A spec at the end of this massive, green glaive of death which bit into the top of the clocktower and continued downward like the damn building was no more than an upturned stick of butter. Glass and other debris exploded outward from the building as the destructive force traveled further downward. The spectators, at this point, would be fleeing for dear life.

Stryphe's swing was reinforced, and the blade's descent began to outpace his fall. It was Stryphe's intention to cleave only the clocktower- the only thing the rest of the city would have to deal with would be the falling of the clocktower itself.

In seconds, the swing was completed. The tip of the blade would touch the ground at the very base of the opposite side of the clocktower and the dissapate- gone as quickly as it had arrived. The clean cut would give the already unstable clocktower a few seconds before the two peices remained would cave in on eachother.

Now all that was left for Stryphe was a freefall back down to planet earth. The air around him settled, the energy dissapated from his eyes. This attack was one he'd perfected and had been using for ages- it drained him very little. There was far more than enough energy and plenty enough sense left in him to stop himself from simply splatting against the earth.

His eyes began to well with power once more.

"What the hell is going on in there!?" Rick shouted into his microphone, staring at the teleprompter. He was immediately reprimanded by a production assistant about his language. "st, ******, catch that in the edit Jimmy!"

He was reprimanded again about how they were recording live.

"Damni- Oh, Jesus, I have no idea how to put what I'm seeing into words! Put on one of those celebrity commentators or something!"

"Meteor has fallen, but it was not I who summoned it. That man in the hat... he must have the Black Materia. Excellent."

We wouldn't be surprised if the entire thing came crashing down soon.

And now for traffic..."

124Maximos

The roof was peaceful, and quiet for a moment, Reinhart ran with all strength, his determination, his power. Foot after foot he charged at the Shadow before him.

With a heft of two legs, feet, his boots dug deep into the loose tile carrying him forward with the dark determination that powered every one of his actions.

Even he didnt notice as Reinhart ran under and past a shadow, a splotch with no rain. He had no time too. It could have been the very symbol of the apocalypse hanging over there head, Maximos was not interested. Nothing was going to interupt this fight. Not if the Grand Creator of All Things suddenly fell from the sky and tried to rend creation in twain. NOTHING would stand in the way of this battle. For the time being, Reinhart and this conflict was all that existed in all creation.

He could see the fist careening for his stomach with deadly intent. It ment to impact, to crush, to destroy. The fist reached closer...closer. His arms lifted above his head, both hands clasping together, like a large hammer.

Defense? What was defense? This was combat, this is a bloody war between flesh and bone. He would not insult his opponent, with a paltry duck or dodge, Nocturne knows he had seen enough of that, he would take Reinharts attack with everything he was and return in like kind.

The impact was swift and potent, knuckles grinded into his gut, organs condenses against bone, and the pain rippled across his entire form. But he would not be stopped, he refused, he would come at this with his all. Both of his arms came crashing down aiming to smash into the back of Reinharts head.

Through fates twist the timing was absolutely perfect. Reinharts fist impacting at the exact moment the WALL turned the roof into a hole. It gave enough time for Maximos's fist to hit, if need be.

There was no footing, just falling pieces of debris. While the chunk of roof they were situated on was no directly under the wall, it was only a second or two before it became victim to it.

They had to adapt. Their stage was altered, no longer was this a rooftop battle. Explosions and powers raged below, but these two men would keep to their oath. This was a war within the falling tower.

((My eyes ache and my internet is beyond messed up. Stryphe, it's good to see you back in the action! Don't think I'm letting you go just yet! This is a semi complete post, and it'll have to do for now because I'm crashing. Sorry fellas.))

The proud always thought themselves to be invincible. It's a pity that such talented warriors were in fact, so proud. They spat words of insult as if there tongues dripped with the bitter taste of disdain. There wasn't any true tactics to be found with this group, or really any group of mindless raging Hell Spawn. They expected to flex their power and get away with it. They'd kill this entire town if they assumed it would help.

Josh soared like a missile with the intent of landing a hidden blow. The proud assumed so much. If he understood the true nature of Nayko's gift, he wouldn't rely on the water to propel himself and find more safe routes.

themightyjello Wrote:

The fool, he didn't even realize he became prey the moment he touched the liquid that flowed so freely. Water spoke to Nayko, and he listened intently. All the actions of everyone who was touched could be heard, and Nayko was an ace at being able to determine the whereabouts of those he desired. Josh was one of these people. Riding so confidently on that massive WALL brought a nostalgic view into his dealings with Hell Spawn in the past. They perished, because they rested on their pride. If this man wasn't careful, he would too.

The surge of energy collided with Nayko's stomach with a blood curdling churn that bemused the angel. This man could hit. The energy numbed his stomach, its intensity astounded him. But there proximity was the more amazing aspect of the Hell Spawns daring move. He threw a solid blow into the belly of the beast. All around him was Nayko's power, and all over Nayko, that same power clung to his skin. The angel knew of the demon's attack because he was careless enough to assault Nayko in his own territory. For that, there were certain reprisals. The water that collected on Nayko's person lashed back for a quick and unseen counter. Forming a barrier, the water about Nayko's person absorbed the shock of the attack and transferred via current to displace at a rapid rate, jutting a thick plume of water concentrated and unyielding underneath the man's jaw.

Nayko wouldn't have any distractions with its new threat. He needed to dispatch this waste quickly. With the counter in motion, Nayko folded his wings and dropped. His hands, quick to react, grasped the demon's ankles and wrenched him from the sky. Utilizing the rain as a sling, Nayko hurtled the man into the billowing steam which clung to the mouth of the roof. The steam burned, and Nayko could feel it. Inside, two extremely hot forces were colliding to extinguish one another. Fortunately for Nayko, he controlled water in all its forms. The steam lashed out and engulfed the cocky demon in a burning rage beyond the tolerances of mere flame.

Nayko needed a plan, and this fight seemed to go beyond his skill. He acted on instinct now, disregarding the notion of slaying someone on the account of hating himself later. He'd come through at the end, and he'd see to it that his friends came out alive as well. Silver was wounded, and his body wouldn't last much longer. He needed to help, but there was so little for him to do. Higher, call down your blessing and bring to me the strength necessary to purge this flame. Like a delicate shower unto the world, may your blessings pour over me and grant me thy power.

There were a dozen or more different reasons why creating a barrier of a semi-solid substance would aid a supposed 'kick-jump off the face' rather than inhibit it, but seeing as the Magic 8-Ball of destiny seemed to have been shaken with all signs pointing to yes, listing them would be largely irrelevant. Joshua had aimed for the hole in the roof, nothing had changed. Nothing.

Nothing except for Stryphe, acting on instinct with intent to split that pressure-cooker of a building before everything came to ruin.

The tower had been smashed, flooded, wreathed in flames, and all of this had happened in half a minute or less. Fire met water, water turned to steam, and yet neither force let up. The pressure inside the building skyrocketed as the building was filled with steam; threatening not only those inside of it who couldn't handle the heat in Hell's Kitchen, but the city at large if this went on any longer. The tower was ready to fall.

Stryphe Wrote:

Stryphe began to fall at the pace of his swing, a spec to spectators. A spec at the end of this massive, green glaive of death which bit into the top of the clocktower and continued downward like the damn building was no more than an upturned stick of butter.

Steam was shooting out of the roof of the Clock Tower like it was a tea kettle, showing just how intense the environment inside the tower was becoming; the pressure escaping explosively with just the first cut put into it. Like a hot knife through an upturned stick of butter was right, the building was ready to come apart at the seams even before Stryphe cleaved it to release that pressure.

There was just one problem with it all... rather than a building blowing itself apart from the pressure inside, now it was split, and those two halves of the tower were going to come down on the city. There was already debris from the destruction beginning to fall as gravity took hold of it.

Damnitall.

If he was to do anything about the debris before it rained down upon the crowd of spectators below, he would have to go faster... faster than Stryphe... faster than the tower... he would have to fall faster.

There was a visible change in the steam being expelled from the tower the moment after Joshua disappeared through it, it was the movement. It wasn't just shooting out haphazardly, it was beginning to flow in a circular pattern. It was hardly more than a second before the swirling steam manifested itself into what it was: a cyclone, twisting up into the darkened sky as even the storm clouds above seemed to become enveloped in it; beginning to turn in time with it all... like the heavens were involved in a slow dance.

Inside the tower nothing so beautiful could be seen. Fire and ash, water and steam, debris littering the air itself as Stryphe's beam of energy split the tower in twain and cast the darkened interior into an unearthly green light that fought for control over the shadows inside with the only other remaining light source, the cyclone itself.

The air itself seemed to part and let Joshua pass as he hurtled through the length of the tower; holding the hat to his head with his left hand and holding the hilt of the sword that had been strapped to the back of his waist with his right. It was this sword that controlled the air, drawing upon Joshua's own energy to amplify the effect to such an incredible degree.

Halfway down the length of the tower the twisting comet hurtled past the green energy glaive on its way to the bottom, still gaining speed. Dual-colored trails of raw energy poured out behind him and were taken by the wind to create a comet tail. The cyclone itself was inescapably important. The swirling air around him as he fell created the area of low pressure inside, almost as powerful as a vacuum, which not only eliminated the air resistance upon him as he rocketed towards the earth but it helped to suck him along.

The comet sped past Reinhart. It sped past Maximos. The two of them would not have cut through the blast of water and steam like Tzenidaar had. Tzenidaar and Moonblade were already at the bottom but those two were still falling. God only knew if they thought enough of the tower's fall to let it interfere in their battle, but it was not Joshua's place to interfere, even if he was the Captain.

Down, down, down... The energy cutting through the air was growing more and more intense. The aura of crimson and black that crackled over his left hand and enveloped the black seal tattoos across his arm was like a burning flame that cut through the cyclone as tendrils of energy reached out for it, it cut through the debris that crossed his path, it cut through the steam, it cut through his hat as the wind took it, and it cut through his flesh. The aura of blue and white that enveloped his right and flowed gracefully up his arm emanated ribbons of energy, coming off in waves that served to bolster the cyclone as he fell. Two completely opposite forms of power, the forces of creation and destruction, brought together for one purpose.

The Right Hand of Heaven and the Left Hand of Hell. A war within a breath inside the Clockwork Purgatory.

KCH!

His left arm shattered on impact. There was no way that his body would be able to handle that much force without something giving, not without positive energy to bolster it through those impossible forces... but that was not positive energy in his left hand.

The energy did not explode, nor did it stop time, reverse gravity, or perform miracles. It cut. It tore. It rended. It destroyed. As the power in his left hand discharged itself into the floor it split into half a dozen paths which snaked throughout the interior of the structure... and left a mark torn into the walls and the floor.

The intense glow of positive energy that surrounded his right hand was all that remained of the comet now; the cyclone had died, the crimson light had faded, all that remained of what had been was the brightness of his right hand and the green sabre that still came down, splitting the tower in two.

There were no words, no bible verse, no dramatic saying, and no shouting the name of whatever the hell he was trying to do. There was just an unnatural silence that followed when the building... did... not... fall...

The spell circle which had been carved into the tower glowed with every bit of the intensity that Joshua's right hand had, but the hand no longer held any power in it. It was pressed flat to one of the cut lines of the circle, channeling positive energy through the seal that amplified it. A cone-like barrier had burst into existence around the outer walls of the building as Stryphe finished his final cut; catching both the debris and the two halves of the falling tower as they came down.

There was panic in the streets, the spectators whom had been so eager before now ran for their lives as they saw the tower hang in the air in defiance of everything that told them it would be coming down...

The tower was coming down, it couldn't stay up there forever. But it would come down slowly; being lowered to the ground by the barrier rather than falling, so that the tower which had once stood at the center of Durem would lay in halves in her streets.

127Liquid Lights

The job was done- steam, heat and pressure were being released from the building. It didn't matter if the combatants continued to fight or not- at least it wasn't trapped inside that oven anymore.

And now what they had was a controlled demolition, thanks to Joshua. Now, if any spectators had been stupid enough to not get the hell out, they'd be safe.

He whirled about in midair to face the city canopy- the sea of buildings the two peices of the clocktower would dwarf for only a little longer. With a grunt of effort, Stryphe plunged the halberd into the building across the street from the clocktower- his descent had brought him close enough to make this move.

Chunks of brick flew outward as he etched a long, jagged scar in the side of the building. The weapon cut well enough to the point where Stryphe's joints, while a feeling a little jolted, were still intact.

After a few moments, his boots clapped against the street. He stood in between a shoestore or something and the cone-shaped barrier Joshua had erected to control the fall of the clocktower. The demon-boi was safe.

He ran out towards the street where the spectators had been crowding- they were already off to the sides, entirely clear of the towers front half.

"Joshua...!" He began, running back in between the clocktower and the cone-barrier to take a look at where the back half would be falling.

"...You're all clear!"

128themightyjello

A grunt.

Then the light faded, and what was left of the tower fell the short distance remaining to the ground with an impact that could be felt throughout the city.

The Eagle has Landed.

In the ruined base of the tower, Joshua stood up, laughed a little, and then suddenly threw up all over the Clockwork Purgatory.

Torture.

It was sheer hell in there. The flame on both ends were doing incredible amounts of damage to everything that was remotely near them. Almost instantaneously, Moonblade's long hair was incinerated, followed shortly after by the smell of burning flesh. They were literally being cooked ALIVE in the blind warzone, and yet neither party seemed to let up.

That was easily the most physically painful thing Silver had ever experienced. EVER. Who would have guessed that being impaled while you were cooked in the equivalent of a giant furnace could be a little... displeasurable? If that didn't sounded like a treat, stab yourself in the eyes with obsidian knives while you were at it. The one positive about his left arm being nuked was that he couldn't feel it because it was completely dead.

Which didn't really amount to much.

The only worse experience that he could have conceived was at the black hospital, when he telepathically tortured by a cruel, sadistic monster. In reality, all the things that happened in that rusted, frozen room never happened. And yet, the image still haunted him occasionally. The key difference between those two events is that he wasn't completely helpless; Silver could still fight back.

Their chorus of pain rang throughout the streets, giving the impression that demons had been unleashed inside the crumbling tower. Being blind, Ryugin's captain couldn't have foreseen the thrashing Tzenidaar had just unleashed on him. Thrown downwards by the sheer force of it, he continued to burn at maximum intensity.

Until he hit the wall, that is. Immediately, he succumbed to unconsciousness with the vanishing flames.

It would be a ROUGH landing. Even if Silver were still awake, he couldn't have seen the ground to brace himself for impact. Rebounding like a limp rag-doll, he was shortly followed by the debris cause by THE WALL. He was quite fortunate that he avoided being crushed by one of the giant gears, as it surely would have meant the end for Moonblade.

Unfortunately, it didn't look as though the results were going to be much different. He was charred almost beyond recognition, covered completely with 3rd degree burns and soot. The only piece of his uniform that remained was his pendant, but that was completely covered in ash and dust he kicked up upon landing like the rest of his body.

So there Silver Moonblade lay, barely clinging to life in this broken down Clockwork Purgatory.

((Chaos. Pure Chaos.))

130Kraun

He couldnt see the man. It was that simple. With the debris falling everywhere around them, gears, stone, some shingles from the roof, Moonblade would be covered, hiding his body from the chimera.

There goes his meal ticket.

And then the giant green blade came down. He moved out of the way with but breathe to spare. Diving to the side even as the green... 'thing' ripped through the space he had used to inhabit, and most of the otwer with it. He was only able to escape due to an unexpected explosion in his back as the black fired would flare and propel him through the air before smashing into the side of the wall. The flames were alive, and to save itself, it would easily rule to damage the host to do so.

And even as the splitting tower moved in super slow motion and the contained heat of the oven escaped through every opening into the great open air it was explosed to, his flame would continue to burn.

Nayko should probably lay off the Jesus Juice, because apparently he was delusional from the heat of the oven or by his overzealous attitude, the heat would have forced out any amount of steam and water from within the clocktower. Humidity? There was none. It was just a physical property of water, even if he could control it in any form, it simply couldnt get into the building before it was split open to release the dry choking heat inside.

And even after it would, it wouldnt prove to do much, for the swirling mass of negative energy strewn throughout the air which was once the clocktower. Negative energy, that which corrupts and pervades. The steam which would be forced to rise off of the burning form of Tzenidaar would pas through it, converting into liquid negative energy as it would rise and slowly become more dense, forming a pitch black cloud. And from the sky above, rain which fell, if there was even any rain that could, as the sky and clouds would literally be parted by Stryphe would be pushed away.

Was there even natural water in the area anymore? Probably not.

Now what the hell was he doing again? Oh right. Apparently his match with the captain of Ryugin was over. Either the man was dead, knocked out, or had run away; but Tzenidaar couldnt find him anyways.

Well, aside from being like a deadly wild animal let loose, there really wasnt much he could do. There were no more opponents in his vicinity at the moment, even he still had the right sense of mind to know that his fight was over as well as the previous one, taking out four people from the overall equation, and he didnt have the means to fly into the sky, so he simply burned as Efreet's Blood ate him like a flaming tribute.

[Round 2, Moonblade vs Tzenidaar, End.]

131Ryugi Kazamaru

Ryugi would FINALLY drop down above where Tzenidarr and his Captain had fought, dipping and dodging falling debris as he moved. He saw the chimera, and kept an eye on his position as he tried to find Silver's body. However, the only sense that really aided Ryugi at this moment was his sense of smell. He couldn't see Moonblade, but he could smell him, weakly. Moving quickly, he found his captain's charred, and nearly unrecognizable body laying up against the quickly crumbling walls of the tower. He acted quickly, lifting his friend off the ground, regardless of the burns he had received. With all the damage he'd taken, would a little more skin really do that much harm?

He skidded to a halt, picked up his friend's body, and immediately pushed every ounce of strength into his legs, leaping off of falling debris, gaining height, until he made it out of the crumbling tower to land a safe distance away from the hell that ensued from the attacks of the opposing team... If Tzenidaar even tried to make a move, Ryugi would boost in and out before he could react. In and out like the wind. Even as he carried his friend, Ryugi was busy using whatever energy he could take in and absorb from the hell around him to heal and help his friend in dire need of it, first doing some serious healing to his internal organs to get his lungs in working order.

Nayko! Defense!

132themightyjello

It would definitely be a good idea for Kazamaru to get the bloodied body of his captain out of the area quickly; if he didn't, the captain would not have much life left in him.

To summarize what was happening at the moment:

  • The fight between Moonblade and Tzenidaar had ended, Moonblade had fallen, which marked the end of this sanctioned match.
  • Reinhart and Maximos had fallen when the roof collapsed, it was unclear what their current status was, as no one had seen them since they disappeared into the tower.
  • Stryphe had completed his cut and taken to the streets.
  • Joshua was at the base of the tower, recovering from the Deus ex Machina he'd just poured all over that building.

As for why it would have been a good idea for Kazamaru to get Moonblade out of the area was twofold: In the man's beaten condition the negative energy cloud over the remains of the tower would be far from a healthy thing; and that for every moment he stayed his grip upon life was slipping due to the incredible aura of negative energy being given off by both the chimera and the Captain.

...the Captain whom, at this moment, was still dry heaving on a pile of rocks in the Clockwork Purgatory because there had been nothing in his stomach to expel except one piece of Kazamaru's neck.

Were he in better shape, he would have attended to the bonfire that had once been his team mate... but, hell, acts of god really tended to take it out of a person.

133Liquid Lights

Stryphe shouldered his halberd and leisurely made his way between the two fallen halves of the tower. Over the rubble he went, stepping along lifeless gears of the once busy Clockwork Purgatory.

"Walk it off, Josh." Was all he'd say as passing by his heaving teammate, patting him on the back.

((I'd inserted a large edit here to compensate for the numbing, but it was lost. Here's the short version.))

Stryphe went "wtf" for a few seconds and decided to leave s**t alone with Joshua. Crazy mofo.

He'd step up to Tzen, looking the beast over with a cold, mocking "Ooo, that must hurt" look on his face.

"Sorry I can't carve out a chunk of my arm for you like Joshua. I must look tasty..." He teased while producing a smoke and popping it between his lips. He suddenly cocked an eyebrow at the rubble beneath his feat- something truely priceless caught his eye while getting the smoke ready. He knelt for a second before coming back up with a broken beer bottle in his hand. The top had snapped completely off but, miraculously, there was most of a bottlesworth of beer left.

"Would ya look at that?"

He motioned the broken bottle towards his feral, burning teammate.

134themightyjello

Stryphe Wrote:

"Walk it off, Josh." Was all he'd say as passing by his heaving teammate, patting him on the back.

That was a bad thing.

Stryphe's hand touched Joshua's back and it suddenly went numb. If he stopped to think about it for more than a second the feeling would spread up his arm and continue on until he backed off.

Joshua wasn't throwing up because all that cyclone-ing had made him dizzy, he was throwing up because his body was trying to reject life itself; yet at the same time, was attempting to consume any of it that came close enough. There is a duality to all things, including the spirit. Some know it as yin and yang, but for Joshua it is much more literal: positive and negative energy. He'd just expelled a biblical amount of positive energy to stop the tower from falling, and that left a severe imbalance. His body was polarized, completely charged with negative energy like a dam ready to burst.

The collected power created a burning aura, infusing in to everything he touched without exception. Even the stones he stood on were beginning to crack and burn simply from the proximity, and stones do not normally burn. There was an imbalance, and it needed to be corrected one way or the other. There was no third way.

It was a good thing all the spectators had cleared off for a good distance from the Clockwork Purgatory, a very good thing.

135Fengrading

"Seriously? The whole thing? Alright, alright, I've dispatched several teams for urban control and basic medical attention. We'll get the situation under control, let them all finish, and close the area off."

"Yes sir; no more collateral. Once everybody has moved along we'll set up a charity fund to restore the tower to it's former glory. Use what we can of the donation for the restoration project and funnel the excess to our other projects."

Several transports were on their way. Those tell-tale blue and yellow Security Officers to push the general populace back and out of the assumed range of danger. Medics would be on standby for someone exploding more buildings full of people.

a Tear and Ryugin would be left the ****** alone. They could stand around the rubble and pick their noses all they wanted; Security was moving the audience away from them, not the tower.

136Rykono Tadaya

Too much was happening too quickly for anyone to accurately initiate any form of logical action. Everyone seemed to be dancing with death itself as they made their actions to take down a tower, stop it from falling, and traipse about the ruins in a matter-of-fact manner. Tzenidaar's assumptions, though they came from a seemingly mindless brute, were very on the dot. The expelling heat through Nayko for a spin as the massive updraft caught under his steady wings and took him into the sky. Folding the massive pearl apendages, Nayko plummeted down to the base of the tower like a swooping hawk.

Ryugi's call came as a whistle on the wind racing past Nayko's ears. Being airborne for most of his life gave him the proper discipline to hear commands, but it didn't give him the necessary wisdom as to act properly. At first, Nayko clutched at steam, but found restraining such a large mass of free moving vapor to be too much of a bother. Descending upon Ryugi, the worried angel collected a section of the clouds and brought them hurtling down on top of the three members of team Ryugin. The cloud covered there trails, there scent, and there intentions. Inside, Ryugi began to heal the mortally wounded Silver, and Nayko readied a patch of vapor to form an attack if necessary. The nervousness that Nayko felt at the beginning of the match was replaced with the fear of his up and coming death.

Cool sweat poured from Nayko’s brow, or perhaps it was just vapor collection, he wasn’t sure anymore. The turn out of this match was becoming scary, and Nayko pleaded for Reinhart to rejoin his team. They needed his strength, but it didn’t matter now. The match came to an end, or so it seemed. Nayko wasn’t really sure what would happen now that the tower fell and the world went to hell with it.

137Ryugi Kazamaru

Ryugi wasn't going to stick around any longer. Two losses for his team meant, essentially, that fights were over. He knew Maximos and Reinhart would fight regardless of what had happened. NOTHING would stop their bout from happening. Not even the Gods themselves. As much as Ryugi wanted to stay and watch the fights that would take place, his obligation to his friend was even more powerful. Silver Moonblade, his friend and Captain, was heavily injured, and was in DIRE need of medical attention.

He'd managed to patch Silver's lungs up so he could breathe, however, the more extensive healing would have to be done elsewhere, and by a far better healer than Ryugi. So, as the people backed off of the tower, Ryugi left with them, making a beeline as quickly as he could for the Crimson Hawk Hotel. He would waste no time, thanking Nayko for his help, then jumping on the tops of buildings and rubble. His friend's life could be hanging by a thread, even as Ryugi continued to heal what he could on his own. He cursed himself that he was unable to help his friend, the environment of the fight making it damn near impossible for him to act quickly enough to be of any assistance. But he'd worry about that AFTER his friend was alright...

Hold on for a while longer Silver. Once we get to the Hotel we can get you patched up...

((Since the fight is pretty much over, Ryugi and Silver are back at the hotel and stuff. Cris and Nayko are gonna stay for a bit I think. Anyway, good fight Josh, good luck guys.))

138Kraun

If they were going to come down at him, that was fine too. As Ryugi would land, Tzenidaar would begin to go after him. He was essentially revealing Moonblade's location to the chimera, even if there was suddenly one of those negative energy clouds wrapping around them because angelboy decided that was a good idea to hide them.

But wasnt that a really stupid idea? A cloud made of negative energy to wrap around oneself and others, especially someone who was more or less on the brink of death? Because Styphe's sky parting attack had removed the natural clouds from the high sky, and the only clouds in the area were the ones which were made of negative energy reacting to whatever water there was when the oven's enclosed area was removed.

And then he ran away, shooting out of the cloud with some sort of indescribable super speed, possibly a mimic of Tzenidaar's own air based abilities. Did Ryugi even have air based abilities? It wasnt like there was an explosive burst of heat or anything to propel him out. But who cares; he was proven to be particluarily fast at running away from the previous fight.

Tsk... There goes Tzenidaar's meal.

He turned back to the people who still remained; his team. Well, thermal vision and all that wouldnt allow him to see the mocking looks Stryphe would be trying to provoke him with, however...

Stryphe Wrote:

"Sorry I can't carve out a chunk of my arm for you like Joshua. I must look tasty..."

He could still distinguish sounds... even if his hearing seemed to change into a very selective mode.

The cigarette would burst into flames before even Stryphe would have a chance to light it as the area flared, possibly igniting the alcohol in hishand as he literally lunged through the air to get at the man.

  • SLAMMED.

Tzenidaar only made it half the distance between his original position and Stryphe before he was literally enveloped by a flood of negative energy like he had dove headfirst into a tidal wave that swept across the ruins of the Clockwork Purgatory.

It was a ******** optic blast.

140Kraun

BLINDSIDED!

Yeah. The animal was definately not expecting that. As he flew through the air, the massive wave of negative energy would collide against him, carrying him along with it as it carried him across the grounds of what sue to be the clocktower, through the super slow motion falling building (aided by the intense flames which encompassed his body as the walls turned more or less into superheated goop), across the deserted streets, and then finally slamming into the corner of a building across from the thing which was once the clocktower. The negative energy itself did little to affect him, since he was suturated in the stuff anyways, however, the secondary results would affect him quite well.

By then, the amount of force would have died down, launching the flaming monster into the wall as it would slowly melt due to the proximity and fall down around him, slowly encasing him in molten stone (if it even could melt) even as the black flames seemed to begin to die down around the form which slowly drifted into unconsciousness.

The smacking he would take from, the wave would knock some sense into him, and with it, extinguish the flames. However, that would leave him as a skinless body with sever burns to the flesh, completely encased in a wall but for a head, his left arm, and a leg sticking out somewhere.

Ragged breathes could be heard as he was suspended in the rapidly cooling mass which held him, accompanied by the occasional twitch caused by jumping nerve signals.

141themightyjello

The energy that had needed an escape had found one; the chimera that needed a little more than a smack on the nose with a newspaper. When it was released it was like a dam bursting, everything coming out at once with no control over it at all, only a direction, and now though the flood had passed the dam was still broken.

There was a rut in the debris of the Clockwork Purgatory, not only on the end that Tzenidaar had been blasted with but on the other end as well; the uncontrolled discharge had forced the Captain back as well, leaving a bloodied trail for several feet across the ground where the broken stones had lacerated his bare feet. Though in the end he was still standing, and Tzenidaar was barely conscious.

"...bad dog..."

Before he could draw another breath the Captain collapsed to his knees, and slumped over on the ground with only his right hand to support him; his left still soaked with blood from the skin open.

142Cristopher Reinhart

No defense, he offered no defense, why would he? This may be their last chance to have at one another, no need to be afraid of getting hurt not anymore. His fist flew with deadly force through the small space and rain, ready for any consequence he may have to take form his action. A clean hit, the strike ground into his opponent's gut with no form of resistance to hinder it. At the same time a hammer or Maximos' hands came crashing down on his head, he wsn't sure which. Reinhart almost fell to one knee but he caught himself with his right hand.

The WALL came crashing down like a meteor just behind them, the roof wouldn't hold out much longer now. Blood spilled from his mouth from the force of the blow to his head, he wouldn't be stopped however. No pain. He was numb with excitement, with adrenaline, in his lowered position he thrust forward crashing his shoulder in Maximos. Creating a little space he clutched his fist ready to send an uppercut with his left. A rumble, a creak, then a crack, the roof beneath him gave out.

Reinhart had lost his footing as he attempted to attack once more. Why? Why now? This was to be it, the battle to end all their battles, his eyes widened as he was weightless for a moment. Falling he reached for something, anything! There was only one thing infront of him, his opponent, Reinhart reached, his hand shooting out like lightning. It fell short, his fingertips only touched Maximos' coat.

Damn it! Why?! Why?!

Where the only words that ran through his mind as Maximos' form began to shrink as he fell. His hand reaching for the man he'd longed to see and fight once more, unreachable once again. Curse fate, it'd brought him so close and now it stripped him of the thing he wanted from HoH the most. In a fit of rage Reinhart yelled out the only thing he could as he began his descent.

"MAX!"

No longer did surprise hold him, it was fire, his will to make it through even if he hit everything in the tower on his way down. It was cruel, he'd gotten what he wanted, it was so close, now he was watching it slip away. Irony, the man he held in such high regards seemed to be rising above him, you'll never catch him Reinhart, never.

143Rykono Tadaya

There must have been a mistake. All around the angel and company wreaked the smell of putrid death and horrific bile. It wasn't so much that this air held such disgusting odors, but the feeling of the odd energy surrounding Nayko brought him back to the plains where he fought in a gruesome crusade against the fearsome beast that the Hell Spawn corrupted. Their massive bodies proved to be tough to take down, and their quick movements made them all the more difficult. Nayko felt that those beasts were mere kittens compared to the force these fighters displayed at the now ruined Clockwork Purgatory.

Nayko's heart ached with the absorbtion of the energy into his body. Every breath fatigued him considerably. He flared his wings, beating them quickly to clear away the cloud he gathered. Inside all Celestials is a pure energy that, to keep the yin yang comparison going, would be justly labelled positive energy. The two colliding energies reacted within the young Celesital and he, like many of the other fighters, spilled the contents of his stomach onto the floor.

What now? His team had been disbannded, strewn about, and quite firmly beaten. Nayko sat and addressed each of the damned demons as if they were another rabble of upstarring Hell Spawn who wished to become famous or indulge in the kill like so many of their brethern. This wasn't the plains fo a crusade, nor was this the skies of Empyrean. This was Heaven or Hell. In front of Nayko rested the champions of hell. Who was he to be the champion of heaven? There were far greater wonders in the Celestial Capitol. As if realizing that teenager couldn't best an adult, Nayko began to feel the fear of his actions. He had charged in with the intent of being the savior, taking these demons to be arrogant fools. But it was Nayko who was the fool this time. His own ignorance placated his delusions and caused him to go willing towards a doomed fate.

Idiocy, as the motif of his current feelings. Nayko stood alone against battered Hell Spawn, who exhausted a great deal of their own strength to even fight one another, and he still feared for his life. He could run, perhaps, but it wouldn't do him very good. These Hell Spawn weren't here to fight by honor, they were here to win. But even still, they did display a level of compassion that even Nayko didn't appear to possess. When the tower fell at the hands of one Hell Spawn, the other aided it by allowing the innocent to run before the crumbling pieces killed them. Nayko failed to act to save those people, and the Hell Spawn was left to do it alone. He sacrificed a great deal of himself to do something so...pure.

Was it the fact that Nayko feared them for being powerful, or was it a new respect for this heartfelt Hell Spawn that caused him to weep? He wasn't sure. Tears broke through the solid composure of the angel boy's angered demeanor. What did it matter anymore? They won, and Team Ryugin lost. Never again would Nayko be able to see his brother. Never again would Nayko be allowed to return to the Holy City. It didn't make sense, why would God allow such disgraceful beings to win at this when he clearly had the more noble motive. Was there more below the surface, or did God truly turn his back on him like so many of the Cherubim preached to him when he descended onto the plain of man?

Beyond the existential views laid one terrifying truth. Nayko might die here today. Those Hell Spawn still had enough fight in them to fight, and more than enough will to kill. Nayko needed to escape, but where would he go. Would he run and be labelled a coward, or would he face the wrath these demons would no doubt lay upon him. What would Rykono have done, if given the chance.

I'd fight, and you know that.

His voice echoed from nowhere, and yet came from everywhere. It was like it came from inside his own mind. In the confusion, Nayko felt a something touch his spirit. A cold hand brushed across his tender soul and calmed his quivering body. Rykono was there, he knew that presence, knew that feeling, and knew that chill. Rykono, please help me!

Since when did you become such a coward? Last I recall, you were talking about wanting to personally smite the Hell Spawn, and that any evil in the world should be destroyed immediatly. What happened to that, dear brother? You look so pathetic, crying in the dirt while those Hell Spawn bask in their glory. I died fighting my wars, if you're so miserable, maybe you should do the same. Atleast then you'll keep your honor.

The b*****d was right. Nayko rose from the depths of his agony and faced the Hell Spawn before him. He'd need to face them, one way or the other; he'd go down in the blaze of glory.

144Maximos

No.

This was wrong.

This wasnt destiny, it wasnt meant to be like this.

Cris was charging, and Maximos' body was bracing for impact when...Cris fell?

He didnt have time to think no time to worry, not time to waste pondering useless thoughts and doubts. It was clear, destiny had to wait.

Without delay he dropped, a wet smack as his left hand grabbed the tattered edge of the roof, his right whipping down with all his might and speed...

There battle was meant to be simple, a battle of minds and souls as much as fists. It was not meant to be amongst a hail of power and comedy. This was not the place nor the time. True colors were being revealed below...the gods would have to wait. Their fated contest was not meant to be cast in a moment such as this...

With a snatch, a squeak, and the tug of wet leather against bare skin, his right hand snatched Cris' by the wrist, at what would seem to be last possible second. He had seemed so intense a moment before, he had a look of cold conquest. And yet now, it seemed to have melted away replaced with a grin.

Its seems the fates have lied old friend. This is not our day, this is not our battle.

Fingertips dug into broken concrete and tile as he leaned up pulling Cris up to the broken piece of roof on which he was perched. The roof had stabilized for a moment, no epic flames had attacked its foundations, no demons had yet unvieled unspoken power to rend the building in twain. And Team a Tear, had not yet begun tearing its own a apart.

With Cris safe Maximos gave him a firm pat on the back, answering just briefly the question lingering Cris' mind.

Soon old friend...soon.

And with that, he was off. He had more than enough trust that Cris could find a safe passage down. He quite simply jumped straight off the roof, where had he gone? How had he vanished? Did he survive the fall? In the calamitous destruction that followed, the explosions and the like, the very smallest question on anyones mind would be where the two fighters on the roof had gone. Surviving a jump like that would be nothing in comparison to what the spectators below would witness in the next few seconds. The streak of violet and black soaring away from the mess would be easily missed by the camera's, spectators and the like, and passed off as debris from the wreckage.

It would leave for a simply mysterious finish, as in the chaotic display of energy even the grandest seer couldnt make out one Reapers soul departing, as the wreckage settled and the tower collapsed, the only question remaining would be...where were Cris and Maximos?

145themightyjello

It would be another minute before things were right again... everything had happened so fast... but then again, that was how things were meant to happen. If they didn't happen fast then they wouldn't happen at all, especially if they were things that they had the power to deal with.

The tower had fallen. They could deal with that.

The people were in the way. They could deal with that.

Time was the enemy. They could not change that.

And so, the way that things had happened was the only way they could have happened. If they had acted more slowly lives would have ended... either those among them or those around them. Sometimes there just wasn't time to be gentle.

That, specifically, was the reason why Joshua was sitting in the dirt, leaned up against the side of the WALL (one of the only things that actually survived the destruction of the Clockwork Purgatory), digging the fingers of his right hand into his own flesh as he worked to realign the bone fragments in his left; which had shattered almost completely breaking his fall from the top of the tower. He hadn't had time to slow down, time had been working against them.

Despite the pain and the fatigue his good hand still moved with precision; half a century being trained as a doctor did not fall on deaf ears. It would still take time, however... and in that time he would be constantly leaning his body to different angles so that the blood which ran down his arm would pool in the dirt in front of him.

With a little effort and a lot of concentration, he would make nine pools of blood in a circle and, as soon as he had finished setting the bones into proper place, would drag the index finger of his right hand through them to draw yet another circle in the dirt.

146Liquid Lights

"Puh!"

He spat the spontaneously combusting cigarette out as it burst into flames and, at about the same time the filter would pat against the rubble, the already broken beer bottle would shatter. The alcohol was fine, but the glass had suddenly become hot to the touch and the bottle was dropped. He hadn't even moved from where he stood before Tzen lunged- although a tightened grip on his halberd did loosen up after the optic blast sent the animal flying.

It was at this point that he would consider that there must be something he could do- for Tzen, at least. Maximos was nowhere to be seen and Joshua seemed to be taking care of himself- unless he was just feeling artistic.

He looked sidelong over to where Tzen had landed.

Flashback Wrote:

Wiping the blood off of the blade and onto the skin, he snapped the knife back into its sheath and dug his fingertips into the cuts; tearing flesh and peeling off the skin until he had a pound of his own flesh in one hand.

"Patch yourself up!"

"Joshua!" He called out, not waiting for a reply, "I don't think you'll be ready to carve out another chunk of your arm anytime soon... I'm going to go see if I can't find crispy some skin."

Wasting no more time, he'd wade his way through the wreckage and onto the streets of Durem.

147themightyjello

Joshua paused long enough to give a thumbs up.

"Bring me a burger! smilies/icon_scream.gif "

...what? You ******** yourself up that hard and it makes a man hungry.

Clockwork Purgatory.

148Cristopher Reinhart

The shriking image of Maximos came to a halt as his old friend stopped his descent down the Tower. Reinhart was caught between his teammates and the man he was supposed to fight and settle things with. Looking up to the man he half smiled, this wasn't it and the words spilled form his mouth.

"This isn't it."

Soon after he was pulled up to the ledge and back onto the roof, the rain hit him hard once again. With his question answered he recieved a pat on the back which oddly enough took him back a year or two. Gave him the sense he wasn't in league with the man as of yet. Reinhart looked down for a moment annoyed at the display of madness he'd just witnessed. Maybe it wasn't time yet, it would come however, and if Maximos held true to his word it would be soon. How he felt he'd shrunk under the simple gesture of a pat ont he back, the only response he could muster was a simple...

"Tch."

Reinhart caught Maqximos' eyes once more before the man leapt from the roof, he caught himself with a half smile once again. Earlier his voice was stuck in his troat but he uttered the words now that he was gone a faint whisper.

"Till then...."

The tower was doomed to the hell that broke loose inside it, Reinhart was done however, Maximos was gone. Just like him he kicked off the broken roof, with such force he caused what was left to case in. Airborne, through the rain, he'd be hard to spot, for now however he was alone almost untouchable by anything but the rain. Dissapeared, he was gone, as if turned to the drops of water themselves, Reinhart was nowheer to be seen. The news crews would have a headline with this that was certain, two fighters dissapearing from the crippled soon to be destroyed tower, what a mystery.

A dissapointing end to what both had hoped would be one of the greatest battles shared among men.

149Liquid Lights

The urban control teams were keeping the spectators at bay- for an instant, they almost hadn't let Stryphe back into the site, dismissing him in their rush. He shrugged, stepping past the barricade. In his right hand was the pole end of his halberd- the rest of the weapon was resting on his right shoulder. In his left was something unpredictable.

A small, plastic kennel from which could be discerned a near endless chorus of soft, innocent mewing.

"Hey!" One of the men on the urban control team began to approach the demon from the side, waving a finger. One look at Stryphe was all it took to make the man realize his mistake- but it was too late. He'd face the wrath of Mr. Stryphe Ebrowen Epothos.

The halberd's pole was yanked downwards in rage. With Stryphe's shoulder acting as the fulcrum, the blade arched through the air and slammed into the ground in front of Stryphe, spraying fragments of rubble into the air. At the same time, the kennel was dropped, the contents inside mewing in alarm at the sudden jarring impact.

The demon pivoted on his left foot to directly face the now shaking man- the crowd was silent, the rest of the urban control team looked on, unable to take action.

In one fluid motion, done in the amount of time it took every human in the area to flinch, Stryphe's left fist shot upwards, the back of it pointing at the man's face, bent at the elbow. His right hand gripped his left bicep.

"SCREW YOU."

The only sound was that of Stryphe retreiving the small kennel and uprooting his halberd from the ground. He walked towards the building where he could clearly see at least on of Tzen's legs hanging out the side.

150Kraun

As for the rest of the body? Well, there was a section of the torso, about one quarter of the body that was not ensaced in melted wall. An arm, the shoulder of such arm, which then lead to the head.

The skinless charred body of course, made wheezing breathes as it sort of twitched every now and then. The head, tilted back with the jaw slack, leaving the mouth ot hang open, would be a complete mess. Thjere were no eyes, no nose, no teeth. There were just sort of... holes there in the mess of red stuff.

151themightyjello

"Classy."

The Captain pulled half a hat off of a piece of steel framework; the hat hadn't been damaged by the tower's collapse, ironically, though it was as good as gone already after being shredded by the decent. It sat well enough, though, as long as there was no wind.

He climbed over the rubble slowly, not rushing; there wasn't much he could do for Tzenidaar right now other than bust him out of that wall, and even then it didn't seem that it would help much considering he was hardly whole anymore. From what he understood of the chimera's physiology the best thing to do for him was to get him something to eat... and Stryphe was already taking care of that.

However, it seems he had forgotten the burger. Maybe one of those kittens would suffice, hard to tell how all the fur would make it taste.

"?"

Joshua grabbed the end of a metal rod sticking out of the debris. For some reason it just seemed different than the other supports that had become exposed when the Clockwork Purgatory fell; it was, or at least it had been before all that had happened, polished steel.

152Fengrading

The guard muttered angrily, wishing to give chase. Out of fear for losing his job, he remained in position. No holes in this barrier, except for the one that Stryphe apparently found.

"What an a*****e."

He turned back around to face the crowds that wanted to get closer for whatever reason. Holding them back with stern looks and electrified batons.

Mostly batons.

153Ying - Yang

So simple story: this shopkeeper said a man went into her store and bought these kittens, right? Well, it just so happen that this man was holding a weapon of some kind. Now, what would one think when someone walks out of a petstore carrying kittens in a kennel? Okay, forget the story. Those kittens were going to a bad place, and someone needed to save them.

Superman?

Hell, no. This was the job for a real hero, a creeper of the night.

Son of a....Shikmaru! Look, that guy standing in the back of that crowd! Apparently, he wasn't looking in the best of moods, and already, he had come to make sure those kittens weren't about to become some little pawns in whatever game this guy was playing.

His hands clasp together as he stand in the back of the crowd, and already, a black shadow creeps across the ground like some sharp lurking through the dangerous waters of the ocean.

To Random Picture Displaying Guy: You know what? You're fired! No no, you are freaking p***k, and are freaking stupid!

Now, where were we? Ah, yes. Anyway, these shadow would split into different tails along the flatness of the ground, each coming toward the bottom of the each guard's feet. The quickness should surely catch them off guard. A successful capture would have each of them suddenly unable to move.

Why?

Because I R SHIKAMARU AND MY SHADOW STOPS YOU!

Not in this lifetime. It was quite simple. The shadow just tie its grip to a person it makes contact with and simple move an invisible field of chakra over their body. For those who were uneducated and had least resistance to abilities like these....they were screwed as it also would move through the skin to take control of the nervous system. He was hoping these wer enothing but normal guards who wanted to keep their day job so they can return to relaxing at a strip club while smoking a joint.

In all, if this worked, they will all be standing still, shaking as they found themselves under Kage Mane no Jutsu, the shadow jutsu that had any victim copy the movements of its wielder. It was kitty-saving time.

154Fengrading

"..."

The security officer had a stupid look on his face.

What really tied the whole situation down was that none of the people nearby could see his face. Why? He was a couple inches deep in an armored suit. Painted deep blue, ringed in golden yellow with Deity's crest emblazoned on the left shoulder.

A shadow would fall onto the plating of the armor and sit there like a good little shadow.

Hefting a shoulder-high ballistic plastic capture shield in his left hand, with an extending stun baton in his right. These monstrous machinations of men held the whole crowd at bay with just their presence. Presence that was reinforced by security officers like him, and four hundred of his closest buddies.

So, funny story, encased in all this armor the security officer's a** itched... But he was totally unable to do scratch it.

155Ying - Yang

Sweatdrop.

These guys were wearing armor. When did this happen? Damn, looks like it was time for Plan B. The shadows would start to move up the legs of each guard, spiralling around as they climb. The thing was, they presented no actual physical form, being used by the chakra properties of Shikamaru to be able to act as if they actually were. A great grip would be reinforced at the joints, to prohibit movement if these guards decided to act, Shikamaru's hands clasped in that same position as he gave unflinched concentration on this situation.

When he believes he has them well binded, he would use the force of their grip to then pull back on each guard. Basically, he was attempting to send them all falling down on their metal behinds, and to contain them there for the time being.

Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu.

156Fengrading

So the guards stood there. Deity armor was manufactured to strict specifications of operational measures. One of them was making armor balanced.

The center of gravity was so centered that the pilot could fall asleep and remain standing. In a windstorm.

If all SIX HUNDRED officers felt a slight incline, they'd adjust with a lean and recenter themselves. Having a ******** of inertial mass helped, too.

Wrote: The thing was, they presented no actual physical form

The thing was, the supports on the armor presented a very real, very powerful, extremely reinforced physical form. Shadows were nothing compared to what was holding the suits up.

SUPERDENSE SERVO-HYDRAULICS

...JUTSU

157Ying - Yang

"....."

Alright. Plan C.

He removes a grenade from the pouch behind his waist. No, he removes six of them. Six versus six hundred? What was he up to? He suddenly would toss all of them into the air, equally spacing out. When they reach twenty feet above the barrier of guards....

BANG!

No explosion. Just a great flash of light instead, all six combining their light to light up an entire block, including around the bottom of the ruins of the Clocktower. That is when the shadow of Shikamaru's will grow incredibly large, spreading out under the feet of each of them. This was to decrease the amount of chakra he would have to use, since it was the light that was helping increase its size and not he.

And down they will go. That was right. Each guard was actually sinking into the shadow. They were being pulled downward into the dark portal as the light continued to shine. The time it should take to completely pull them under should be five seconds.

Shadow Portal....

If they went under, their destination will be five hundred yards west of here, which Shikamaru had no clue where that was. But consequently, it would be in some darkened sewers that was probably smelling pretty bad. What would happen if you try to fit six hundred guards into narrow passages together? Yeah, that wasn't looking good.

158Fengrading

BANG!

Blind, deaf; flashbang. Everyone in the crowd would be momentarily senseless. They'd scream, shout, duck for cover, and fall over.

Leaving one extremely purposeful man standing as if expecting the blast, and undoubtedly immune to it.

Scratch that. One man and six hundred security officers in fully sealed suits of powered armor. Each equipped with dampeners that cancelled sound beyond a certain level. Microphones on the side helmets would record the sound and instantly replay the sound through the internal processors of the armor, where it'd normally be put through to the auditory receptors mounted in the pilot's ear. With the sound so loud, the electrical signal created by it would stop in the processor and keep the pilots from becoming deaf.

Bright light, while over their heads, would reach the camera array on their masks. All the pilots would see white light for a split second as the internal HUD switched to infrared view. Visible light was irrelevant this far down the electromagnetic spectrum. You can't flashburn cameras, anyway.

So there'd be a gap in everyone's consciousness where they'd be deaf and blind, experiencing only the sensation of their body huddling over and ducking.

Meanwhile, numerous security officers cleared leather. Metaphorical leather, because they didn't have six-shooters and rawhide holsters. They had automags; the massive eight pound sidearm that was practically built into mk. V armor.

Countless caseless 5.7mm copper/potassium hollowpoints tore through the air. Each round would be hit or miss; burying themselves in in the wall of some building, or finding the flesh of the dumb ******** testing security.

Each hollowpoint would mushroom mid-way and enter the body with a potassium slug. The pressure of the closing temporary cavity would exert pressure on the slug, while the water content of the blood would oxydize the potassium core.

Science-y description = Bullets that exploded on contact with blood, making for exit wounds nearly a foot across.

The security officers reholstered after emptying their twenty round magazines. Everyone in the crowd stirred as the blindness wore off and the ringing in their ears faded.

Then they screamed. Again.

Towards the back of the crowd there was a pair of legs, some shredded clothing, and about a hundred pounds of ground beef. But how'd that happen?

What!? Nobody saw because everyone is blind!? People just don't get ******** up like that.

Oh well.

Gaia is a messed up place. Someone get a shovel.

159Liquid Lights

He let his halberd drop to the ground with a smash, Stryphe took the last couple steps over to the body of someone who was supposed to be Tzen. Stryphe would only be able to guess if he hadn't already known who it was, though. He honestly had never seen someone so ******** up, yet still living, in all his long life. He shook his head as he approached- half in disbelief and half in admiration.

Tzen's impact had blown a nicely sized hole in the side of the building- it was large enough for Stryphe to step straight through it, careful not to step on the charred flesh that was the animal, Tzen.

Once he was in, he knelt down next to Tzen's sad excuse for a head and shook the kennel at it.

"Since you couldn't take a chunk out of me..."

He tipped the kennel backwards and set it on the ground- the eight kittens inside fell into the back, piling ontop of one another, all mewing. They were completely unaware of their dark fate. Epothos opened the kennel with the flip of a switch and a flick of his wrist, lazily flinging the small doorway open.

"...brought you the eight-peice."

He wouldn't get much of a response from Tzen- probably a wheeze and a gurgle here or there. That was it.

Flick.

Cigarette lit, it was time to operate.

His hand reached into the kennel, picking out the first little furry ball he could find. From the plastic cage he pulled a squirming, mewing, grey kitten. He stared.

"I'll do you the pleasure."

Suddenly, in mid-mew, Stryphe slackened his grip on the kittens back enough so that it began to slide down towards the floor until he could catch it by it's head.

The muffled cry of the kitten, Stryphe's hand completely wrapped around it's tiny skull, would be cut short when he cracked the poor thing like a little furry whip.

The seven other kittens inside the kennel continued to mew, content with eachother's warm little bodies. The baby in Stryphe's hand, however, hung limp. Silent. His eyes searched the ground for a few moments before finding a suitably jagged peice of debris.

"You're obviously not chewing anything," He commented aloud, not even sure if Tzen could hear him at this point.

One after another, the kittens would be killed without mercy and bled into what was left of Tzen's mouth until the animal was fit enough to feed himself.

160Fengrading

All the guards pushed foward, herding the confused and partially blood-sprayed audience backwards. Far enough to put about fifty feet between the inexplicably shredded body and the security officers.

They'd all drag their little barricades out further, expanding the circle around around the rubble. People got a little freaked out when they had to stand in some guy's mess.

161themightyjello

Ktthk!

A spear tip rammed into someone's innards and stuck there. It was Moonblade's spear. It was Shikamaru's legs.

Together they were -

...a ninja corndog.

Hefting the spear shaft over his shoulder Joshua trekked back across the Clockwork Purgatory towards Tzenidaar. Maybe some ninja-leg would buck him up just a bit...

162Kraun

Stryphe's speach would be met with the occasional twitch of a limb or so as he got to work feeding the beast, spilling the blood of the furballs into his gaping maw.

At first, it just leaked in there, pooling in his mouth as he wasnt even conscious enough to swallow the substance as it just sort of bubbled as he gurgled on the viscous liquid. And then, his body seemed to act on its own, the subconscious moving the body as if to repair itself with what it was given.

Slowly, the bloody body would stop bleeding, lost organs and limbs began to regrow, and new skin coated over the body. By the end of the eight little animals, Tzenidaar would essentially have most of the damage to his body regenerated. His organs would be functioning properly and his wounds nothing more than scars. However, his right forearm would still be pretty messy; a missing chunk of skin, though it didnt appear to bleed much at the moment.

At that point, the chimera would be conscious as he spewed up some blood and coughed, clearing what liquid had previously entered his lungs. What a waste. As for the wall which was wrapped around his body? It would crumble, as soon as he got his bearings right, because there was no way in hell that he was going to be stuck in a damn thing like that.

His ragged breathes came out in harsh growls as he looked around with a bit of a feral glint and fell upon the caracasses Stryphe would leave on the ground. No use in wasting the meat now, was there?

163Liquid Lights

"That's right," He said with little enthusiasm and a slight grimace, "eat up. I'm gonna go check on Joshua and see if I can't find Max."

He left the way he came, having risen from his kneel the moment Tzen had enough energy in him to take things into his own feral hands.

"Honestly..."

There was a moment, once he was outside the building where Tzen was feasting to health, in which he just had to shudder.

"...********' weird."

He took one last drag from the cigarette he'd lit at the start of the kitten-feast then flicked it away before picking his halberd up off the ground. He'd heard the commotion as he'd begun feeding Tzen, so his attention turned towards the crowd.

And then there was Joshua, hauling a fleshcabob in Stryphe and Tzen's direction.

...

smilies/icon_neutral.gif

He decided not to ask.

164themightyjello

It was best not to ask.

"Does he have skin yet?"

He asked.

The ninja-kabob was tossed to the ground, and Joshua stole the pants off of it. Why? Because it was a perfectly good pair of pants, and this tournament was making those hard to keep. ******** fireballs...

Rebellion Pants GET.

"Let's get out of this pit. Max is already gone." It was true... Max was nowhere in the area.

Clockwork Purgatory end.

165Kraun

And guess who was the only one left to pick at the remains?

Yeah... he'd grab the spear, eat the corpse and leave before things got crazy, taking to the air as soon as his skeletal wings regrew and formed black tattered membranes between them. Because being naked and all wasnt exactly the best thing to do if there was a giant crowd around the ruins of the clocktower.

166themightyjello

So a** Tear was leaving.

But wait, weren't they supposed to stick around the Clockwork Purgatory for some sort of Elimination Match to be held afterwards? That was what happened last year, right? It only makes sense... Even more so considering Joshua had been one of those Eliminators last year, and knew how the system worked.

They didn't care, though. They were a** Tear. They were the bad boys of HoH.

They were totally skipping out.

Later dudes~.

167themightyjello

Let it be known unto all, thine Judges hath made their decree:
