Owle Isohos Wrote:
She was starting to feel really light-headed, and sadly Vahn would be feeling the same from lack of air just about now. Considering the death grip her legs had around his neck, muscles straining just to hang on.
Unless Owle was immensely agile, and double jointed, to be able to maintain that kind of grip, with her arms around his waist, and legs around his neck--- she'd have to have been holding out on everyone with her amazing grappling abilities.
If it was all she could do just to hang on while Vahn was rocketed backwards, how was she was getting off any vise-like grip from that position?
Besides the fact that she was choking the wrong sides of his neck to begin, with pressure focused on the sides instead of the front and back where the adams apple was*--- and well, no loss of air.
Just really annoying pain.
Explosions didn't bother her?
Ok, forget the concussive force, the flames and bits of metal going all over the place.
We'll say Vahn's body took all that as an act of love.
However--- as for the wings and all-- in the position she was in, back to back with him, how did her wings exactly work...? Let alone gain enough lift to have any direct effect on both their bodies?
It wouldn't factor in, unless she decided to, at some point, let go of his waist and sit on his shoulders.
While Vahn was just doing what he had to, to not get ringed out, he was also doing his best to make sure Owle didn't fall. For god's sake, he couldn't even strike her, let alone think about doing it.
But she had no qualms in attacking him to spite all this--- and even if she was just doing her part for the team, the resentment was still there.
And would remain there in the form of that dagger.
Blood would spurt from where the dagger was embedded, but the yanking would still go through, mostly due to Vahn's stubbornness.
He wasn't going to be stopped here.
Now... for Kalis.
His sword had never touched Vahn. The explosion had ensured that, so needless to say, his right arm was sore, nearly pulled out of its socket, but fine.
So was his left, all things considered.
Quote:
If Vahn was airborne somewhere, or on the deck already somehow, Kalis was going to repel with an especially loud burst off the side of the ship, flying upward, twisting his torso to flip his legs around in midair. Because, with that turn, as he cleared the deck, he'd be swinging the sword in a wide arc at Vahn. There wouldn't be a flash, or a bright line, or anything to announce it to him, just a small line in the air along where the sword's tip had gone that blurred. And out came an arc of force, not focused enough to cut him, but striking at the man's head, in the distance, meant only to mess up his recovery onto the ship, or otherwise, throw him off balance while Kalis came down, boots slamming heavily onto the deck, forced down to a 'squat' with his legs bent, up on his haunches, knees nearly hitting the ground again, from the fall.
Vahn would alreayd have landed back on the deck at this point, greaves indenting heavily onto the deck of the ship, even as it began rocking violently.
Balance was the issue.
Balance was the key.
By the time Kalis was jumping up from the side of the ship, Vahn was already turning on the heel of his left foot. His left hand gripping hold of the chains coming from his right hand.
"Nnnraaagh!" Tugging hard on the bunched chains, he forced them to actually peel back the top of the deck itself, the hooks imbedded deep enough so that they didn't immediately snap at the sudden yank.
This would result in a layer of the deck itself peeling away and up enough to act as a barrier-- which Kalis' air slash would impact against.
You don't fight on Gaia regurlarly without running into over 500 people who can attack from a distance with a sword.
The force of the slash would impact against whatever material the deck was made out of, splintering peices even as the chains slackened.
Which was just enough, for Vahn to continue turning on the ball of his back foot, and send the now loosened chains spinning, with enough reach and bits and pieces of the deck lodged to smash into the crouched Kalis after he landed.
It would be equated to the crack of a bull whip.
While solid, the chains were still elemental in nature, a solidfied form of flame that the Hand could sculpt. It was one of the most simplest techniques that even Walter had used against Vahn in the beginning.
