Athena's face twisted a little from her excitement to a more serious demeanor, as Crawley suddenly goes into this quick action just when she was in clinch range. His left arm raising and his right arm going over her right, he was surely trying to keep her from taking him down. Yet, he would be too late to do this, as she was already close enough, as well as right up close to him to be taken down before her suplex. As much as he tries to go "under" it, her being this close already also made that impossible as her right arm would clasp itself against his shoulder, thus her entire body, making him be able to go nowhere without her physical permission. Looks like he should have done more before she got there than just say "What?"
Another reason she will not be weighing down is because of her forward left foot acting as support. Since the weighing was meant to bring her face-first, the counter balance with her bare foot digging into the sand will stop that from happening. And using the increasing potential energy of the struggle, she uses her advantageous position to bring him up and down in the fashion of a belly-to-belly suplex.
At this point, Athena was going through a psychological turmoil. In one hand, she was trying to keep herself calm, the yin and yang in sync, and all that stuff she learned from the East. But then, her more aggressive side was there as well, the West coming into her mind trying to battle for superiority. The fight, the fun, all of it was warping Athena into a more different person whose eyes were slowly starting to fade from reality and more into the realm of disabling her opponent, all the lessons she learn mingling with one another. But there was so many that she was like a person digging through a library of books to try to find the next move to do. It was all so difficult, so complex. She was not loosing her focus, however. She was somehow gaining it to get to the fastest route possible in taking down Crawley.
This was a fighter's way of having a mental breakdown. Not by the chants, but by trying to decide what the next thing to do. She had Crawley! She could do all sorts of things to him, yet for some reason, she was not capable of thinking straight. And that is when she makes up her mind.
"Screw this!"
Angry Athena had returned and she was pissed, all that bottled up anger fueling out into a passion that made her gain insight more than lose it. Stress was suppose to give negative results. But for someone with a personality like Athena's, it instead increased it positively, somehow making her sane instead. She was being her real self and not just this fake person behind his veil of entertainment. If a hero gains nirvana from getting enlightenment, then a villain who thinks what he is doing is right must be the same. This does not put Athena in this type of comparison, but it compares instead the calm and the aggression of a fighter's mind. Being calm wasn't the only way to having a straight mind.
Rage, anger, the ability to harness it effectively into a person's fighting spirit...that was a capable feat, too. This is what made Athena unique, and it was this that made her one of the most feared women in the world. Her eyes changed from soft to nearly cynical, and that is when only the look into them, be it by Ryu or Sieg, who show that the mood had just changed.
"Break him..."
Her sitting body leans back as her feet scoot from under her, her legs flailing forward as she goes into a sit from a kneel, her right foot likely smacking Crawley in the face as it passes over. His left arm over her right shoulder? That was a great set up for a submission move that was very common. With his arm now between her legs at the bicep due to the scissor-like movement of her legs, she takes grip of the forearm and the rest by gripping it under her right armpit.
"Ha!"
Her left hand places itself as a fulcrum under captured left arm. All his right hand could do was follow.
"And end!"
Letting her back go as far back as possible to try to touch the sandy ground, she hyperextends his Sailor Suplex glimmering muscles, forcing his elbow the other way with her fulcrum of an arm. Legs resting on top of his body, he was now within a firm armbar, her right leg pressing down against his neck to give a generic chokehold. Crawley will feel power from her body no normal lady will give, from his past experiences. Athena was strong. She could make you feel like that you weren't fighting a woman at all. Yet, her charm, her physique, and much everything about her had to become attracted to her as the woman she was. That dominating feature it was.
And when the crowd saw this, their chants ceases, people starting to revert to cheering for Athena instead of calling her boring. She was boring because she was suffocating under all this propaganda. It was time she returned to who she was, the very woman who had won Iron Maiden, ironically the tournament made by the very man she had in a submission.
"Gotcha, Crawley!"
Metaphorically, she was submitting her own public face. No more boring Athena.
