Eyes widened.
Athan's right arm went up instinctively, but there was no way to stop a two-handed slash with one arm on such a long sword, not even for someone of Athan's strength. It didn't help that Athan's arm was in the way of the slash, and not the sword.
It was then that everything went kind of hazy and Athan felt as though he were in this situation before.
A sizable sword coming down to practically rend him in half, an impossibly huge adversary, a feeling of helplessness.
Ezra.
This was just like the dream. There were no shades, no Anima, and he wasn't Atan, but this situation had all the makings of an extremely familiar scenario.
Then time sped back up, the sword came down, almost certainly going to cut straight through Athan's arm and then deal a potentially mortal wound on the swordsman.

Arm of the Sleepless Dreamer Wrote:
Judgement
Savior: If the Charge is in the state of mind to protect when the Judgement ability is activated, the Arm will spread its armour up to the users shoulder. The armor thickens, the sensitivity to pain disappears, and the arm remains just as easy to manipulate. The user is then free to use the arm to block, parry, or even grab at oncoming blows.
The black substance Athan's right forearm was made up of had spread all the way up Athan's arm, thickened, and completely lost any sensation of pain. So when the heavy ceremonial sword slammed into it, Athan's arm buckled, but did not waver.
There wasn't much Athan could do about the shoulder check, since he was so worried about the sword coming in he hadn't even thought about defending against it.
"GGHK!"
WHUMP!
Athan's face was nailed by the shoulder and he shot back, the wall cracking and then groaning under the force of the pressure. People on the other side would simply turn their heads at the noise.
Athan's right hand lost its grip on his sword, the heavy weapon clattering to the ground in the process. His head slumped forward slightly, his nose bleeding pretty profusely, potentially broken.
"Heh."
Athan's right arm would push forward, still keeping the sword at bay until it found itself against Ken's chest. Fingers would wrap around Ken's right arm, and then push Ken towards the wall directly next to Athan.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
His left hand would ball up into a fist, fingers sliding into tiny holes designed to activate the gauntlet's Burst ability. With his hand locked into the position, Athan could feel a surge of adrenaline focused almost exclusively in his left arm.
Athan hauled back and then punched straight into Ken's ribcage, the Burst activating the moment knuckles struck against flesh.

Burst
The only other method of expending the gauntlet's energy involves releasing it all at once. This is an extremely dangerous process that runs the risk of completely shattering the wearer's arm, but it is the only way of avoiding potential heart attack and exhaustion. A closed fist triggers the ability of the gauntlet, with the finger tips pressing into small compartments inside the gauntlet at the base of the palm. The activation of the abililty requires impact on the knuckles, which prevents an accidental misfire. The end result is a pure burst of concussive energy that is strong enough to shatter stone. Naturally, even the most hardy of warriors would suffer pulverized bones leading all the way up to the shoulder should they attempt to break heavily reinforced objects.
The force would be shared by three things. Athan's arm, Ken's ribs, and already-shoddy wall behind the two of them. If the wall held, Ken's chest would be forced to absorb all of that impact and face potentially irreperable damage. Athan's arm would face similar consequences as his fingers were literally hammered into the compartments they had set inside to trigger the ability in the first place. All the way up Athan's arm the force would travel, splintering bones, crushing smaller ones and causing hairline fractures as far up as his collar bone.
If the wall caved in immediately after the punch Athan's arm, as well as Ken's innards, would be in markedly better conditions.
