Stage0: Preliminaries

Frostschild Memorial Park

The sun is shining, the audience is pumped, it's a great day to kick a**.

While in memorium of those whom disappeared in the tragic Unity incident, this park is a lively place. In preparation for the fight some HoH fans brought their blankets and barbecues to watch the fight. It's a good old fashioned cookout amongst the violence.

Terrain

General - The green grass and general outdoorisness, while nice looking, should be accounted for.

Weapons - Barbecues, grilling implements, potato salad, trees.

Bonus Effects - Watch out for errant spectators, they're not as contained as usual.

Red Player: Ebris Dhifi

Representing: Honestly, Nice Guys

Played By: Cognitive Genome

Blue Player: Athan Cole

Representing: Mythos

The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, kids were playing and lovers were kissing. It was here that the city of Frostschild and all of its inhabitants vanished from the face of Gaia, and looking around it appeared that nobody was the wiser concerning the tragedy that had transpired there less than a year ago.

Except for one man standing over a grill. An exceptionally large and exceptionally well-known man, at that. Athan Cole had chosen to pay his respects to the people of Frostschild by grilling a hamburger over the foundation upon which their great city once stood.

Or maybe he was informed by mail that he should show up at the park for his preliminary match against a 'surprise opponent'. Athan had no idea what that meant, and upon showing up he hadn't even seen someone halfway threatening in the park proper.

So, like any respectable man would do, he headed back into town, bought some MEAT, and started cooking. Sitting on a bench behind him was a half-empty beer and a pair of impeccably prepared buns. Chopped onions, ketchup, mustard, relish, lettuce and tomato. Cheese was sitting nearby, obviously waiting to be thrown onto the cooking patties when the time was right.

Ah yes, life was good. All Athan was missing was an apron and, well, friends.

3[ Cognitive Genome ]

The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, kids were playing and lovers were kissing.

Well, that is, until black, acrid smoke began to filter into the sky and blot out Mr. Sun, causing birds to drop from the skies like meaty rocks, forcing the kids to flee in terror and the lovers to start puking from the smell.

A keen observer, curious about all the hubbub going on, would follow the sooty trail the black clouds wafted from, leading to what appeared, at first glance, was a massive, iron-wrought sacrificial mound being tended to by a gore-slick monster.

Then they would realize it was just Ebris Dhifi cooking the remains of an entire cow on top of a rathton of barbecue grills placed side-by-side.

The perpetually pissed-off bounty hunter stood there, humming grunting out a tuneless tune while poking and prodding the smoldering corpse with a very large knife and spit. While the thing was pretty much entirely on fire - hence the lung-killing cloud of smoke - the innards hadn't been cooked all the way through, so Ebris was periodically sprayed with jets of arterial liquids, but it didn't seem to upset him too much (beyond the level he was permanently at, anyway). The way several limbs/body parts of the poor beast were twisted made it pretty obvious that the thing hadn't been stabbed or shot to death. Next to set of grills was a massive keg that was undoubtedly filled with a liquid that'd make beer seem like watered down lemonade.

All the while, a rathin\' ironic blared its static-laced noise through a radio that Ebris undoubtedly stole off of someone in the park.

Apparently, either Ebris didn't know that this was where the long-gone Frostchild was placed - a city that he had a gig in during its last moments - or simply didn't give to grods worth a damn. That, and he didn't notice the other HUEG presence directly behind him, peacefully grilling his own WEAK MEAT while waiting for his opponent and being just as oblivious.

That was sure as Warp gonna change in a wee bit.

4Designated Hero

Athan's nose crinkled upon getting a whiff of the oh-so-offensive smell radiating from no more than thirty yards directly in front of him. How Athan had managed to miss Ebris Dhifi, let alone Ebris Dhifi, his legion of grills, and the goddamn flaming cow directly in front of him was a mystery. But now that the bounty scum had his attention, Frostschild Memorial Park would never be the same.

Hell, it might never be anything in a few minutes.

Now, Athan had no idea if Ebris was entering Heaven or Hell, or if he was the guy he had been scheduled to fight in the preliminaries. What Athan did know was that very few people on the face of the globe ranked higher on Athan's RAGE METER than Ebris Dhifi. The fact that the horrible smell of burning hair, smoke, and Lord Knows What Else was ruining his steak only further compounded the matter.

Even without his sword, Athan had had enough.

Thankfully most of the park-goers had cleared out a nice little ring for the two in an attempt to escape the acrid smoke. So with no one to get in the way, Athan was free to say hello. Shutting the hood of his own grill, Athan started wheeling his grill over to the angry hobo.

Always a cordial man, Athan announced his arrival with a gift. A well-prepared slab of meat sailed through the air, landing atop the dead cow before being burnt to a crisp like the rest of the meat present.

"HEY! GOT A PRESENT FOR YA."

And, assuming that was enough to get the bounty hunter to turn around, he'd be treated to the sight of a full-sized Weber gas grill skipping off of the grass not more than three yards in front of him before shooting back into the air on a collision course with Ebris' torso.

[1/10]

5[ Cognitive Genome ]

Ebris was just minding his own business - him, his "Kiss the Rathin' Cook >:{" apron and the inferno of meat that was once a cow. Of course Jimbos had to come and ruin it, and he was none the wiser - too much music. Too much flames crackling. Too much focus on cooking delicious MEAT. Didn't notice a rathin' thing, until -

SPLAT

"Whatth'rath-"

  • steaks from heaven, and then -

"HEY! GOT A PRESENT FOR YA."

"WUT-"

  • getting nailed right in the chest by a runaway BBQ grill.

WHUD

"PISSSS!"

As the large steak slapped down onto the carcass of his immolating cow, Ebris knew something was wrong. At first, it wasn't perceived as a problem - I mean, who'd complain about more meat unless you were a CHUMP p***y vegetarian? Still, the bounty scum's already-furrowed brows creased and furrowed a bit more at the sight, as meat falling from the sky didn't tend to be a natural occurrence. Grod ain't right, no matter how awesome it potentially was. So, the logical reaction was to begin an about face and find out who was the faggert who was getting meat in his meat.

And then he heard the voice.

It got an immediate reaction - pupils dilated, blood pressure was built up, veins throbbed in neck and face, and the HAET began to undulate.

The turning suddenly got violent, Ebris' movements to face the source of the voice now grinding deep trenches into the dirt and sending it splattering everywhere, an expression of RAEG wrought upon his mug. It didn't help when he got smashed in the chest with a large grill, which knocked the wind out of him and caused him to nearly fall back into his burning mound of meat, grunting from pain and hissing through grinding teeth from rage. The bounty scum's feet dragged all the while, tearing more furrows into the ground.

Despite pretty much falling onto the flaming beast, Ebris didn't catch on fire or anything - one of the many reasons most of his stuff was flame-retardant. Immediately, he propped himself back up, his form covered in blood and now soot from the grill spilling charcoal all over him. Pretty rathin' much, the only things that weren't covered in grod were two blue eyes that were burning like dried ice and a set of pearly choppers that were visibly - and audibly - grinding together like some sort of industrial crushing machine, and both were focused on the the sumbitch right in front of him.

Athan Cole - HUEG JIMBO, and one of Ebris' most FAVORTIEST people on this grodhole of a planet.

Didn't matter if Cole was his opponent for the Heaven or Hell prelims or not. Grod was ON.

Thrusting his bulk to the right, Ebris' paws lunged forward and latched onto the head like pneumatic vises. Digits dug past cooked flesh, meat and cracking noises began to fill the air as something a bit harder was met and nearly broken, and despite the entire thing being mostly on fire - including the head - the bounty hunter seemed to be currently ignoring the kind of pain associated with having your hands set on fire.

Then, as quickly as he had performed this, the brute suddenly snapped back, hands still grabbing a hold of the poor, deader animal's skull.

The entire thing began to lurch.

"JIIIMMMMMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

And then Athan Cole would find himself staring down the bulk of 1,400 pounds of flying, immolating cow. Ebris Dhifi had hurled the entire thing from his makeshift grill pit, causing them to spill over and start igniting the grass. The kind of momentum that only cow hurling could bring caused the bounty hunter to nearly fall face-first into the mangled dirt, but at the last moment and the intervention of a right hand (left was too busy smacking fire off of it onto his coat) propping him off the ground kept him going forward, full burst, right after Athan and Mr. Cow, screaming unintelligibly all the while.

Boy, sure was happy to see the guy!

[01/10]

6Designated Hero

"C'mon Sunshine, don't act like you're not happy."

All the rage in the world couldn't stop Athan from cracking a smart-a grin upon seeing the bounty hunter take a grill in the chest. It wasn't enough to topple the huge b***d, but at least it sent the right message.

Athan's choice of apparel was hardly fit for a spontaneous brawl. Guy didn't have his gauntlet, didn't have his armor, didn't even have his sword. Just his black leather jacket, a plain white undershirt, and some denim jeans. But hey, at the very least he had taken the time to roll up his sleeves for the THROWDOWN.

Ebris' reaction was priceless, going so far as to get Athan to let his guard down just a little bit as the big guy opposite him grabbed for a cow. Athan practically scoffed. Poor b*****d was just burning his hands trying to pick up the huge animal. There was no way he-

"Ohshi-"

Athan was one of the strongest Gaians around. His body was so thick and his muscle fibers so dense, he could easily lift objects well over his own impressive size. But, as an unfortunate side effect, four hundred plus pounds didn't exactly get off the line too quick, no matter how much muscle was backing it.

Athan chose instead to stand his ground and brace himself for impact, and that was when things got messy. Athan stepped forward and lowered his right shoulder into the flaming bovine, causing a rather disgusting chain of events.

The innards, already under enough stress from being cooked, suddenly found themselves rocketed out of the cow's broiled stomach from the force of impact as Athan's body first resisted the cow's impressive weight.

"NF!"

From Ebris', or any other person's point of view, they'd witness a literal explosion of organs and fire as the two huge animals met, sending flaming tendrils of small intenstine and other juicy bits spiraling off into various directions before Athan himself was swallowed up by the sheer mass and momentum of the cow.

Athan fell back, temporarily shrouded by a veil of smoke and fire. His jacket and flesh were pretty flame-retardant as it was, but the cotton t-shirt underneath wasn't so lucky. It immediately caught flame and before Athan could put it out, a nice round hole had been burned square in the center. The skin around the hole flared red, but didn't show any blistering as Athan had managed to avoid being crushed underneath the poor dead animal.

By the time Athan had time to get to a knee behind the cow, Ebris, or more specifically, Ebris' voice, was practically right on top of him. When Athan looked up, he was staring down the hate-filled eyes of one pissed off motherrather ********.

"That's more like it."

Athan surged forward, planting his left boot square on the dead cow's ribcage before using the carcass as a springboard to launch himself at the oncoming hobo. Athan's left arm was extended, his right cocked back and already balled into a fist. It was all too apparent that Athan was hoping to hit Ebris somewhere in the upper torso with the left palm and push him over before unleashing right after right into the ugly b*****d's face.

HAET TRAIN, meet COLE TRAIN.

[2/10]

7[ Cognitive Genome ]

See Cow. See Cow Explode. Explode Cow Explode.

That's what you get when you superheat any kind of bovine. The rathers were filled with all sorts of nasty gases in their guts - enough to suffocate an entire room of people if locked in with it. The groddy-smelling fumes only grew in volume when exposed to heat, causing organs to decompose and pop. If left to its own devices and allowed to brew in a fairly-whole condition, the damn thing would have simply detonated and showered several hundred pounds of rotting meat over several hundred meters of land.

Nasty, nasty grod, and it pretty much happened right then and there as the Cole Train shoulder checked the thing right in the belly.

Needless to say, both of them - and the surrounding area - were now covered head-to-toe in cow. Not even a minute into the prelims and they were already having a GRAND OLD TIME.

Ebris didn't bother slowing down in the slightest once the Jimbo broke through the cow and splattered them both. No, he continued to bellow like some sort of rabid animal (all the while spitting cow chunks outta his mouth all the while) and charge, right pulled back and under, his boots stomping mudholes in the ground like small explosives detonating.

And then the flying b*****d hit him and they both went to the ground.

Two things happened about the time they slammed into the earth, dragging a trench into the ground from Ebris' body sliding back - two painful things.

One, Athan's fist slammed hard into the bounty scum's forehead and upper nose. It would have hit him square in the face, but the impact from the ground caused Ebris' head to snap up and meet the fist head-on (lolololol, puns). This in turn cased his head to snap back down onto the ground hard and nearly giving the old sumbitch a concussion. He did see starts, though, and he was lucky his forehead was so rathin' hard, or his entire skull would have probably been caved in by the HUEG GAI.

Two, Ebris' own right swung up and right into Cole's solar plexus just as the two of them slammed down. Ebris' strength + Jimbo's weight + HURR MOMENTUM = damn, a lot of pain. While getting hit in the head was generally worse, there was a lot going into Cole's gut, meaning he'd probably feel more than a bit queasy.

Then, using his fist's position, Ebris would attempt to reach up with his left, grab a hold of the HUEG JIMBO's right and push up and to the side as soon as his head cleared. If they had to play grabass like this, Ebris was sure as hell gonna be trying to get on top, hur hur.

[02/10]

"HERF!"

No, that wasn't some new battle cry Athan invented to try and counteract Ebris' made up swearing. That was the sound of all the air rushing from Athan's lungs the moment that sledgefist buried into his solar plexus. While Ebris would be busy trying to see straight, Athan struggled to not blow chunks all over the guy below him.

Not because Mr. Dhifi didn't deserve it, but because throwing up was just unpleasant.

Dirt, mud, charcoal, and the occasional rock kicked up into Athan's face as the large men literally carved out a good five yard trench into the park before finally coming to a stop. And just when it looked like the ride was going to stop for Athan just before he spewed, he was jerked violently to his side and given a clear view of the sky. That is, if the bounty hunter would have been courteous enough to get his ugly mug out of the way.

&********;

Athan's left hand, which was still somewhere on Ebris' chest following the flying tackle, would grab a nice handful of clothing, or chest hair, or something, and pull down.

"OFF!"

Athan's head snapped forward in time with the act, and the two most stubborn sons of bitches Gaia had ever known would be knocking heads. Athan was never exhibited great form with his headbutts, tending to crack foreheads far more often than noses, but with Ebris just recently having his clock cleaned, it was time for him to have his bells rung.

[3/10]

9[ Cognitive Genome ]

Through the RAEG and HAET and all that grod, Ebris' mug forced a toothy grin upon itself as his sledgefist slammed deep into the rathin' Jimbo's gut, twisting and driving up. His skull throbbed and his vision was slightly blurry, and he was covered in Throne knows how much grod from the surrounding area. It was brutal.

This was the kind of grod he came back to this rathin' tournament for - pure, unadulterated BRAWLS.

After throwing Cole off and to the side, Ebris quickly began to try and position himself into the most opportune position for a rathin' beatdown. Mitts were clenched into sledgefists, nearly causing veins to pop from the pressure of their tight grip. Before he had a chance to commence Operation: SMASH JIMBO, though, the sumbitch decided to go and play a different game by grabbing a hold of the upper cuff of Ebris' flak vest and yank down - a game the bounty scum was just as eager to return.

WHUCK

HEADBUTTAN TIEMZ.

Unnaturally-dense foreheads, only covered by thin layers of skin and muscle, collided like a pair of out of control freight trains. Neither gave out, though, like most things would - no, they would be taking levels of abuse that would cause an Orthopologist to grod brix. Already just having recovered from Cole's meaty fist slamming into his head, Ebris' vision was jarred once again and pain erupted on his forehead from the skin nearly splitting. Such symptoms usually suggested bad things were happening to one's head, and any smart person would desist at this point.

Problem is, Ebris wasn't the sharpest mining instrument down in the pits.

Sledgefists unfurling, the bounty hunter's paws shot down and latched onto the sides of the HUEG GAI's head and dug in hard. Then, with an ever-growing crazed look upon his ugly mug, Ebris continued the ballet of head smashing.

WHUCK

And again.

Well, it wasn't like Athan was squirming his way out of this one. Whether he wanted to or not his head kept rising to meet Ebris' for headbutt after headbutt. Things probably could have been managed better if his left arm wasn't still throbbing after shoulder checking a cow, but that couldn't be helped.

WHUCK

"FH!"

Stars, or what Athan assumed were stars, became visible out of the corner of his eyes.

WHUCK

"Craz-"

Athan felt some blood trailing its way down his face. Though whether it was his own, Ebris', or the cow's, was anyone's guess.

WHUCK

"-y motherf-"

WHUCK

The astute observer would have noticed a long time ago that Athan was craning his right arm out to the side, desperately grabbing for something that seemed to be just out of reach. What he was reaching for, however, wasn't a weapon of any sort. It wasn't even sturdy enough to club the guy off of him.

What Athan was so desperately reaching for, and just so recently managed to get two fingers on, was a checkered picnic cloth.

WHUCK

The rebound following yet another headbutt bought Athan the split second he needed. Despite his general wooziness, he was still conscious, and just as bad as Athan was feeling Ebris Dhifi couldn't be THAT much better off.

Athan ripped the cloth towards him, spilling drinks and potato salad everywhere as a substantial portion of the cloth found itself between the two fighters in an instant. And before Ebris could bring Athan up for another round, Athan pushed up with both of his arms and engulfed the bounty hunter's head with the plastic-lined cloth.

Once both his hands met somewhere behind Ebris' head, Athan secured the cloth as best he could with his left hand and pulled back, probably craning his head back to uncomfortable levels in the process. Not satisfied with that result, however, Athan fired off a big right hand aimed somewhere in the center of Ebris' obscured face while bucking his hips off to the side, hoping to deposit the bounty hunter onto the grass beside him before letting go of the picnic cloth.

'Cause while all of this ground n' pound stuff was great, it was time to man up and stop playing in the dirt.

WHUCK

Sight goin' funny

WHUCK

Blood runnin' down forehead

WHUCK

Pressure buildin' up

WHUCK

Haha, this grod's gettin' good!

With hands clamped around his skull like a motherrather and a grod-eating grin on his mug that looked like he was going completely nuts, it was pretty damn obvious that, despite similar problems associated with massive amounts of HUEG headbutting, Ebris was having a rathin' ball. Cole didn't know it, but one of the bounty scum's favorite past times was to headbutt rathers constantly till their skulls gave out. Of course, his skull cracked a few times in the past - Ebris still remembered that one rathin' Greenskin - but that only served to harden the thing once it healed up.

If it came down to it, there was a good chance Ebris would have continued the damn match through subconscious impulses - long after his brain went to take a forced nap.

So, it was a pretty smart idea for that big Jimbo sumbitch to grab a nearby tarp and smother Ebris' ugly mug with it.

"MMRRGGPLLMMMSSSPP!!!" While the noises were pretty unintelligible, it wouldn't be hard to figure out what kinda words were frothing forth from the bounty hunter's blocked mouth. Normally, most punks would instinctively begin to claw at the grod covering their face, what, with being suffocated and all. Ebris was no CHUMP, though - no, the crazy sumbitch pulled back at the tarp, and with the disturbingly near-perfect outline of the hunter's facade stretching out further and further, it made it kinda clear that the crazy old b*****d wasn't done with their little game. During this, Ebris' hands groped a bit around the side of Cole's head and proceeded to clamp down on something that'd prove to be really, really bad - his ears.

So, when the bounty hunter was decked with a right and sent off to the Jimbo's left, the Jimbo was gonna be getting something just as nice in return.

16 pounds - 16 pounds of rathin' force. That's all it took.

SSSHHHKKKKFFFLLLLLPPPP~

Hucked off to the side, Ebris rolled away a bit, covering himself further in all the grod their little match had kicked up all over the place. Coming to a stop, the bounty scum began to prop himself up, his left yanking the impossibly-stretched plastic tarp off his face, his right holding onto something else.

Tossing the cloth away, Ebris began to bat and dust grod off of his coat, vest and jeans with his left, coughing periodically during it. His head was currently lowered, looking over his body, but blood could be seen trickling down from his face and forming a pool at his feet. Then, suddenly, an odd, rough, guttural noise began to rise up from the bounty hunter's throat.

He was chuckling.

Looking up now, it was revealed that Jimbo's fist had done a number on the brawler. His nose was brutally crooked and jutting off to his right, and in conjunction with his split forehead skin, blood was just running down his face in sluices. Despite having his face partially ruined (not that it did much to hinder his boyish good looks), Ebris was grinning pearly whites at Cole from ear to rathin' ear. Continuing to chuckle, his left came up to his mug, wiped away some blood with his sleeve, and then, using his hand, painfully snapped his nose back into general place with a sickening crunch.

And, as this happened, his right rose up, something bloody and fleshy dangling down from his pinched index and thumb.

"Looks like yer missin' something thar, Jimbo," he rasped between a cough, still chuckling, and proceeded to huck the piece of whatever at Cole.

It'd turn out to be the sumbitch's left ear.

16 pounds of rathin' force, indeed. Ebris' strength, coupled with being hurled to the side by Cole's own inhuman strength, as well as it being positioned to the opposite side of the throw (meaning that the skin would be pulled harder) caused the little thing to rip off the side of his head easier than the peel off a rotten banana.

Ebris Dhifi just done got dirty.

Then, without giving the poor b*****d much of a chance to mourn the death of a part of his head, the bounty scum suddenly began to thud forward in a powerful, hunched charge, hoping to slam into Cole and right into a picnic table right behind him.

All the while, the grass around them were igniting up like wildfire due to all the spilled grills, as well as starting to burn around several knocked-over propane tanks.

Grod was gonna get good soon.

SSSHHHKKKKFFFLLLLLPPPP~

&********;

A warm liquid was running like a waterfall down his left cheek, and Athan didn't need a doctor to tell him what had just happened. Not like Athan would have been coherent enough to listen, anyway.

It was hard to say at which point Athan had reached his breaking point, but a safe bet was some time in between the last headbutt and having his ear torn off. By the time the swordsman had regained his footing, not more than a few feet in front of the bounty hunter, he was already seething with some strange amalgamation of pain and range.

Ebris taking the time to taunt him wasn't making things much better, and as his eyes fell on the hunk of ear at his feet, Athan could've sworn he cracked a tooth from the resulting gritting of his teeth.

Before Ebris hunkered down and charged forward. Athan took the initiative by taking a step backward and lifting his left foot, stomping down on the corner of the picnic table Ebris had designated as a landing spot for the two big guys when he started his charge.

The opposite end of the table rocketed upwards, stopping only when the end Athan was stepping on decided to bury itself into the ground. Athan reached out, snagged the uplifted end of the table with both hands, and turned to eye down the charging HAET TRAIN.

Fastball, right down the middle.

Athan hefted up the wooden picnic table as best he could, then stepped forward with his right foot, keeping the left planted while turning his hips and arms in one fluid, almost perfect baseball-esque swing with the table. Weight considered, the whole thing wasn't that much different than swinging his own sword.

Ebris' charge would be rudely interrupted by the flat side of a table to the face. The impact was so great that the table basically shattered on impact, leaving Athan hanging onto about a quarter of a jagged-edged table at the end of all things. Splinters flew every which way, marking the second 'explosion' of the fight.

But Athan was hitting Ebris up high for a reason other than messing up the guy's ugly mug.

'Cause that much force was easily enough to rip most people's feet out from under them as the upper body stopped while the lower body kept going. The head weighed less than the torso, so it was naturally easier to manipulate than the rest of the upper body.

Then again, maybe Athan was just trying to mess up Ebris' face even more.

[5/10]

13[ Cognitive Genome ]

GONNA KICK YER a**

GONNA RATHIN' END YOU

GONNA-

WHACRACK

Well, that didn't go as rathin' planned.

Despite his size, Ebris was a pretty damn fast sumbitch, almost frighteningly so, primarily when it came to straight dashes. The bounty hunter's massively powerful legs could pump like pistons in a diesel engine and carry him forward with giant strides. Many a rathin' dumbass figured that the old hunter would be all slow as grod on a January night, and they all learned what it was like to be hit by the human equivalent of a freight train. Of course, Ebris needed a wee bit of distance to build up some momentum - distance he didn't have when it came to bowling over Cole.

So, the sumbitch done got an attack of opportunity against the HAET TRAIN.

The force of the picnic table slamming into Ebris' upper body and head was so great that the wooden planks were nearly disintegrated from the impact, and the blow actually hit so hard that it redirected the momentum of the charge. The bounty hunter's torso and head snapped to the left brutally, accompanied by a stringy rope of blood and a few teeth spitting forth from his maw, with his right leg stepping forward wide in the continued movement.

THUD

That is, however, until the leg's foot stomped down with all its might, halting the charge with a sudden, painful lurch and creating a massive imprint in the ground that went past his ankles. The entire left side of the bounty scum tightened up, its respective paw tightening into a sledgefist full of ANGR and HAET.

Then, just as quickly as he had stopped, Ebris snapped forward with his left side in one brutal, powerful motion while pivoting on his right boot - further tearing up the ruined earth around his embedded foot - and sent in a gigantic haymaker towards Cole's bootiful face with his left sledgefist.

It was a counter attack that would have blown the head right off of a lesser man.

All the while, the snapped-back face of Ebris loomed, face even more bloodied but even more manic. The old b*****d was going off his rocker

[05/10]

14Designated Hero

There really wasn't anything Athan could do. He had either overestimated the picnic table's durability or underestimated the bounty hunter's, but when all was said and done Athan was still recovering from throwing his weight behind a homerun swing that didn't even make it into the outfield. All he could do was bear witness to Ebris standing his ground, and then feebly attempt to turn his body out of the way of the incoming haymaker.

Athan had seen the retaliation coming from a mile away, and couldn't do a damn thing to stop it.

"HNK!"

The sledgefist landed flush on Athan's right cheek, sending the giant reeling, even popping a few prosthetic teeth free from the jaw and ripping open the tough skin on his cheek. Athan caught himself, but not before he had nearly fallen flat on his face. His left knee was practically touching the ground, his left hand was providing some well-needed additional support, and his right hand was still stubbornly clinging to the remnants of the table.

Ebris had served up quite an impressive rebuttal. But as with every point, there was a necessary counterpoint just around the corner. Athan acted quickly, shaking off his momentary daze as he brought his left hand off the ground and grabbed onto the other half of the picnic table.

I just want...

Snapping the table in half like it was a toothpick, Athan created a much smaller piece of wood comparable to a small plank while keeping the jagged edge intact.

...to hurt this guy!

Athan raised his right hand, holding onto the makeshift stake, and then punched it down into the top of Ebris' right foot, and into the soft earth below. It probably wasn't going to pin the guy down, but hell, all Athan needed was to make an opening.

Because just as soon as the stake stopped moving downward Athan was shooting up with a left of his own, coming up with a wild uppercut that would knock the head clean off of anyone less well-put together.

Hah - that's rathin' more like it!

Sledgefist connected with iron jaw, and the sledgefist won. The power behind the blow wasn't all that Ebris had, not at all - he needed more setup for that - but it was still rathin' potent, and damn enough to turn most Jimbo's faces concave. Still, it was rathin' satisfying to see that HUEG sumbitch spit out as many teeth as he had a bit ago, and it made Ebris all the more eager to continue pounding the ugly looking motherrather's mug in deeper and deeper.

Normally, Ebris would have followed up with another blow or move immediately afterwards, but the punch he had sent was wide and strong, which made it difficult to start up any sort of combo. Didn't rathin' matter to the bounty hunter - who needed combos when you could punch a CHUMP's head right off their shoulders?

Well, it did kind of cost him in the end. After catching himself, Ebris was going to step in with his right and send down another blow right into the Jimbo, but his foot was halted when it was rudely stabbed by the sumbitch. Lucky for the bounty hunter, the steel plates sewn into his boot prevented him from getting the thing skewered (and causing the piece of table to shatter and slide off), but it did allow Cole to prop himself up into an uppercut aimed right at Ebris' jaw. Due to their respective heights, the two giants pretty much had the exact same reach.

So, what'd the old fart do?

He punched right back.

WHU-WHUD

DUAL STRIKE

Already having planned to step in with his right to deliver some pain, Ebris still had use of his right sledgefist. Servos whining, the fake hand was sent down hard, waist snapping down with the movement. At the same time, Cole's own was coming up fast and hard, but caused him to drive his face ever-upward until both finally collided

The two blows rocked them both. Ebris saved himself from a dislocated jaw by rolling his neck and head slightly, which still hurt like a b***h (force transfered to the neck) and still cracked a few fake molars. The impact also caused Ebris to stagger back a bit after his fist connected with the Jimbo, the stars once again blinking before his RAEG-filled vision. Things really WERE getting rathin' good, and after a few blinks and the shake of his head, Ebris was ready to storm back into the brawl, his vocal chords rumbling forth one helluva mean bellow.

GodDAMN this was a brawl. Here Athan was, just a few minutes removed from enjoying himself on a fine afternoon with a grill and some meat on hand, in the fight of his life with some damned hobo. The perfect fall afternoon had been ruined by smoke, fire, and blood. A peaceful setting was transformed into chaos as some parkgoers chose to run away while others crowded around to get a glimpse of the action. Unsurprisingly, nobody in the ever-growing crowd was brave enough to try and break up the fight.

Athan's uppercut had found its mark, but in doing so he basically threw himself right into Ebris' punch. Having the benefit of actually seeing how much pain was heading his way was a bonus, but hell, he'd weathered tougher storms before. Ebris was rolling his head away from the punch to save himself a broken jaw, while Athan ducked his head down slightly to avoid getting a broken nose.

The resulting impact put a crick in Athan's neck and knocked him right back to the ground, this time with nothing to catch himself Athan landed flat on his a** with both hands sprawling back to keep him from falling prone to the ground.

Though it was without a doubt Athan had probably suffered at least one mild concussion by now, he wasn't quite satisfied with letting this brawl go. Athan managed to get to his knees before taking a moment to clear the cobwebs, then he lifted his eyes to make sure Ebris wasn't in the midst of delivering a boot to the head or something equally unpleasant. Lucky for Athan, the big guy opposite him was just beginning his charge.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Popping into a three point stance, Athan exploded from the ground just an instant before Mr. Dhifi was on top of him. Head lowered, shoulder forward, Athan delivered a picture-perfect spear straight into Ebris' gut, wrapped his hands around the thigh of either leg, and ripped back with his arms to take the base right out from underneath the guy.

Athan would manage to get one giant step in shortly after impact before the two bodies would slam to the ground with an earth-shaking thud.

And of course, what better landing place for the two big men than square in the center of the ever-growing grease fire?

17Pocket Gal

The sound of a watermelon being hit was evident. Oh, wait, that was somebody's head. A blond, exuberant woman came bouncing near the fight, only to get a blast of grease in her direction. Lucky for her fire was her life, so she just brushed off the spot on her clothing that quickly ignited.

Nothing like the smell of burnt flesh and hair fresh in the air.

She had a footlong hot dog in her hand, munching away with a mouthful as she yelled out to the man that just latched onto the other man's thighs.

"HIT HIM HARDER!"

Hey, wait, she knew them...both.

"Eeeewww."

This was her initial response to seeing Ebris. She decided to quickly get away from the fight when low and behold she saw something on the ground. Reaching down, she pulled it free from the dirt.

"Hey, it's an ear. My sister needs one of these."

Dusting it off, she walked away from the fight. She had to hurry and put it on ice or was it milk?

Blow after blow after rathin' blow was exchanged with all the grodpacked love and care in the world. The kind of force behind them was the stuff of legend - of godlike heroes that went to battle against monsters and destroyed them with their very hands. Such actions could change the entire landscape around them, and the war they waged was herald throughout the realm.

That kind of fight was raging this day, only there were no heroes - only rathin' monsters.

Ebris Dhifi, thoughtful as ever, continued to desecrate what remained of Frostchild with his charge - steel-plated combat boots thudded deep into freshly-laid soil, pulverizing it to the point it looked like something a Throne-damned pig would love rolling around in. If the damn place could be patched up at all, it would be MONTHS before it looked remotely like Ebris Dhifi and Athan Cole had never stepped into the place, and that was just in its current condition.

As it stood, the two RAEG-filled sumbitches were past seconds, thirds and fourths, and it seemed fifths wouldn't be enough to satisfy them.

The bounty scum grinned through his roar as he charged upon hearing that big a CHUMP roar back and lunge forward in his own hunched rush. Ebris knew that Cole was gonna win in this contest, as the sumbitch had a lower, stronger balance and, if he remembered correctly, the Jimbo weighed a rathin' ton in comparison to how he looked. So, in lieu of being taken to the ground, the old b***d decided to do something a wee bit mean as the asswipe rumbled in and he began to step in with his left:

He thrust his left knee out.

CRACK

Despite Ebris' unnatural fixation with bashing the CHUMP's face in many a different manner, this knee was aimed to hit the area where the shoulder just ended and the collarbone began. There wasn't any time to shift the knee to nail the face or head in time, so the bounty hunter took advantage of the Jimbo slamming in with his right. If anything, it made it all the damn easier for the sumbitch to tackle him to the ground, but damn would it make his life all the more painful. The collarbone was a pretty frail thing for a rathin' bone, especially one built into the Throne-damned torso, and with the kind of power Ebris could put out, plus his "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!" momentum, plus Cole's own "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" momentum, there was a pretty decent chance the thing would get rathed up pretty bad.

Of course, the knee wasn't spared from the force of the impact - it would hurt like a Throne-damned whore on the rag and not getting her fix. It'd make matters worse if Ebris didn't get the knee in enough and it and Cole's shoulder met head-on, which would leave both normally-rathin' HARD bones groaning in a helluva lotta pain.

Now, time for the ground game.

A nasty, boiling concoction of stuff that was prolly nastier than grod flew everywhere as the HUEG sumbitch's tackle took the both of them right into the ground far back, enough so that the two landed in the flaming mess that their love tussle caused. Oh, and the ground was further torn up again from another trench being dragged into the damn thing from the sudden, dragging impact.

And, as soon as things settled down, steaming-hot goop began to slide down past Ebris' duster's collar and vest and onto his skin.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!"

It was just painful. PAINFUL. I mean, do you rathin' know how painful that grod would be? Dirt, blood, grease and soot, all mixed together and superheated with propane-induced flames. Ebris sure as rath was gonna have none of that rathin' bullgrod a** piss grod, ESPECIALLY not without Jimbo getting some himself.

So, while swearing enough obscenities to give a Saint an aneurysm, the bounty scum proceeded to scoop up a massive heap of scum with his fake right - filled with the boiling grod and plenty of charcoal nuggets - and brutally slam them into the left side of Cole's already-mangled face.

It would be like sticking your head in a tub of hot grease while getting kicked in the head by a mule. Ebris Dhifi was once again playing dirty, literally this time, and dear Throne was it nasty.

The damned park had turned into a warzone, and the worst part about it was that this was supposed to be the preliminaries. How the hell could anyone have expected these two tanks to cause this much damage with a shortened time limit?

Not like the two guys were well-aware of the tournament they were fighting for. Until a judge stepped in, Athan and Ebris were just fighting for the sake of RAGE and HATE, respectively.

A sharp wheeze of pain was sucked in through clenched teeth the moment knee and shoulder connected, but there was no stopping now. The two were carried into the flaming cesspool and, were it not for the fire burning most living things to a crisp, infection would have been a serious concern.

Athan's short-lived victory soon gave way to a sudden, incredible burning feeling overwhelming the dull throbbing atop what was left of his ear. On the bright side, Athan didn't have to worry about the bleeding anymore. Flip side of the coin, however, the left side of his face was on fire.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

His left hand thrust forward, slamming into Ebris' face and pushing the bounty hunter's head back into the grease fire while his right furiously clawed at the extremely hot gunk burning his skin off. The amount of pain Athan was in could not accurately be described, but suffice to say, his hatred of the brute underneath him was doing wonders to stave it off temporarily. The heat was so great that fear of losing his left eye caused him to shut it tight while the right furiously searched for some form of retribution despite the thick smoke.

It was then that he noticed something shaped strangely like a rope. Only it was on fire and smelled horrible.

Both hands left their respective positions, the right moving away from his face while the left stopped pushing on Ebris' head. Because laying on the ground, just underneath the two fighters, was a portion of the cow's small intestine.

By the time Ebris would be able to bring his head up off the grease, Athan crossed both arms in front of his chest, traded ends, and ******** pulled, choking off the bounty hunter's air supply with a flaming cow intestine. His left hand blistered almost immediately, but that didn't matter. His left eye flashed open, and Athan stared Ebris down with all the primal fury of a madman.

"WHAT WAS THAT?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

Hell, any other fight this might have seemed out of the ordinary.

Feral, triumphant grinning/OHTHRONEITHURTS turned into plain ol' OHTHRONEITHURTS.

It was rathin' pleasing as hell to see the Jimbo's already-mauled mug covered in flaming gunk and charcoal shattering against it, further making it the purdiest thing you ever done saw. So pleasing, in fact, Ebris didn't notice Cole's left thrust into his face and drive his skull half-way into the ground, covering the back of his head in all that wonderful grod he slapped over the b*****d's face.

Insert VERY LOUD AND MUFFLED SWEARING here

While Ebris didn't tend to be much of a biter, there was an undeniable instinctive reaction to having a large hand shoved in your face. So, immediately after his head thudded into the burning ground, the bounty scum thrust his head up and turned it slightly to the left. It wasn't too much of a movement, as Cole was as rathin' strong as he was and kept him down pretty damn good, it was enough to do what he wanted - open his mouth and chomp down with all his molartastic might on the nice, fleshy space between the Jimbo's thumb and index finger.

Needless to say, Cole was probably going to be missing another chunk of his body, all within the span of a few minutes.

While tearing at the sumbitch's hand - making sure to chew 20+ times like the good old b***d he was - his free right was still up by Cole's face, having just plastered the grod all over it and everything. So, as soon as the HUEG b***d went down with his other hand to go fishing for something, Ebris proceeded to hook his fingers into whatever little holes he could find and start yanking and pulling pretty rathin' hard at it. MOAR pain, anyone?

Of course, Ebris was about to get a bit of the affection himself. Intestine was really damn stretchy, so when Cole decided to start choking him like a b***h, it proved to be unnervingly successful, despite the thick, trunk-like nature of the bounty hunter's neck. Oh, and then there was the fact the rathin' thing was on fire too. No, not painful at all.

Blue eyes bulging from their sockets in an almost comical fashion, Ebris immediately began to try and yank at the tightening, fleshy noose with his left. Unfortunately, Jimbo had both his hands available to keep it tight, which didn't give the bounty scum much breathing room. He knew that he needed to get outta this damn situation, and fast.

So, when Jimbo started to give him a crazed look and bellow at him like some giant, horribly-scarred drill sergeant, Ebris gave him an equally-crazed look back, made an odd gurgling, hissing noise, and then proceeded to spit the chunks of meat he had bitten out of the Jimbo's hand right into the b*****d's mouth in the middle of his speech.

HUR HUR, DIRTY FIGHTIN'.

Immediately afterwards, Ebris' right slid up behind Cole's head, grabbed as much shirt as he could with his left and pushed/yanked down while going up as well, letting his forehead do all the talking as he tried to ram it smack dab in the middle of the Jimbo's mug. During all the pain and confusion, Ebris would also try and buck his hips and push the b*****d over to his left, using his left arm braced under the body to push up and to the side while the right pushing the head to the side.

Well, he would try and do it, but it became more difficult when Ebris realized the hair on the back of his head was now on RATHING FIRE. How pleasant!

21This Is Zen

Meanwhile, sitting in a lawn chair a good, long way away, Lahren had been watching the fight since it had broken out. His sorta-daughter was nowhere to be seen, which was probably a direct result of any sort of proximity to Ebris Dhifi.

Thanks to that Vulcan's assistance, Lah's face didn't look like a horrid mess, but there was no mistaking the distinct bend in the bridge of his nose. That just happened to be the end result of him taking one of the bounty scum's fists head-on, and up until about this moment Lahren had been vaguely irritated that he hadn't gotten to vent more frustration before that BRAWL had been cut short.

Looking on in sick fascination, though, it suddenly clicked somewhere that that untimely interruption back in the Firebrand may be the only reason he was able to even move. If that didn't send a chill down your spine, nothing would.

Ah well. The acrobat took a gulp of lemonade, and waited to see the rest of the fight play out. This s**t was just getting good.

"FFFFFFFFFFF-"

How was it that every time Athan got any sort of appendage near Ebris, the damn things kept getting lost? He couldn't quite get his hand out of there fast enough, and next thing he knew his fingertips were missing, bleeding just about as profusely as his ear had been earlier.

That didn't stop Athan from trying to choke a b***h, though. And things were going pretty well. Athan was sufficiently angry, and the bounty hunter was bugging out.

"WHAT WAS THAT?! I CAN'T HEA-GHAK"

Fingers in the mouth, fingers in his nose, one pair belonged to him and one didn't. Athan coughed, then spat his own fingertips back into Ebris' face, maybe getting him in the eye or something, who knew.

All Athan knew was that his head was getting jerked off to his left by the nostril and the guy he was sitting on top of was making it difficult to keep his balance.

Athan eventually rolled, lost his grip on the intestine, moved his right hand to the side of Ebris' head just as their positions were reversed, and used the built up momentum from the rolling to slam the side of Ebris' head into an open overturned grill.

Sure, it probably wasn't as hot as being directly in the fire, or having grease thrown on your face, but Ebris Dhifi wasn't getting out of this without a nice set of grill-bars across the right side of his face.

And yet, through all this, the distinct sound of a loud hiss began to send the spectators running.

Rathin', rathin' brutal. This was the kind of grod Ebris wanted to get involved with when he joined that grodpacked tournament, not chasing around pansies and beating and mining them like the CHUMPS they were. No, this was the real deal, the whole shebang - dirty fightin' against a big a sumbitch as strong as him and almost as crazy and mean. Ebris pretty much hated Cole more than any sumbitch on Gaia Primus, but rath, he could only count enough Jimbos who could give him a rathin' good brawl on a single hand alone, and that was including the big b***d he was rolling around in boiling muck with.

Real one helluva rathin' ball, even through all the Throne-damned agony. Besides, he figured, he was kicking the grod outta the Jimbo more than he had ever done before, and he was far from rathin' finished.

The sight of Cole choking on his own fingers and hand meat caused a choked bark of laugh to erupt from the bounty hunters filthy maw, despite the fact that the back of his head was on fire and the Jimbo spitting the grod back into his face, nailing his eye partially. No, the crazy hunter just continued to laugh gutturally, especially once the cow intestine noose was slackened up a bit, which allowed Ebris' booming, rough and near-mad hilarity to be heard across the entire park. Even when his face slammed into the side of the grill and left a wonderful, scalding impression on the side of his face, the bounty scum continued to bellow in insane mirth, which continued on as he secured a mount (temporarily pulling his duster up over his head to smother the flames up there) and began to rain blow after rathin' blow into Cole's head - some missing and putting massive holes in the dirt, some undoubtedly driving the Jimbo's head deep into the earth - all the while completely ignoring the fleeing spectators and the odd hissing noise, as well as any blows Cole might be sending up right back at him.

The bounty hunter was outta his rathin' mind and loving every second of it.

So much blood, so much fire, so much smoke, and so much pain. All of Athan's senses were pushed to their limits, the adrenaline rush hadn't even begun to wear off. It was a shame that things were drawing to a close, because despite his obviously haggard condition it didn't look like Athan was missing a beat.

A series of punches landed square on Athan's noggin before he could find something to fight back with. His right hand was frantically digging, searching for something. The blind search didn't seem to be going too well, and what was left of Athan's left hand didn't seem to be doing a good job of keeping the blows from raining down, but amidst the grassfire and scalding grease, he finally found something.

A skewer.

Athan closed his hand around the red-hot metal object like it was his anchor to consciousness. He weathered another blow, tilted his head out of the way of the next incoming one, and snaked his left hand around to grab at what remained of the hair on the back of Ebris' head.

"YAAAAAAAAAH!"

Athan's entire upper body surged upwards and he jammed the sharp end of the skewer horizontally through Ebris' nose, first piercing the left nostril, then the right.

And as if that wasn't enough, Athan quickly readjusted his grip, placing Ebris' nose in between his ring and middle finger while still holding to the skewer. His left hand moved back to the front of Ebris' head, putting the base of his palm on the bounty hunter's forehead.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIP

Payback was a b***h.

The right arm pulled, the left arm pushed, and just before the ominous hissing grew to an unbearable level, a portion of Ebris Dhifi's nose disappeared into the fire.

SSHNK

"AUUUNH PISSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

What was originally a pretty rathin' intimidating, loud-as-rath voice became something a tad bit more comical as Cole finally decided to get a bit dirty himself and slam a red-hot skewer up and through Ebris' nose. While anything of that sort is anything but pleasant, the bounty hunter was spared from having the Throne-damned thing shoved up into his head, and instead had the flaps of his nostrils skewered like part of a shish kabob.

Bellowing in a nasaly rage, the bounty hunter attempted to try and remove the offending object, but Cole was quicker on this draw. The sound of parts of his body getting ripped off wasn't too uncommon for Ebris to hear - last year he had to rathin' deal with that Chimera sumbitch and losing his rathin' arm - but it was never one he took to too kindly. The nasal flaps were torn through nastily, sending bits of flesh into the ever-growing fire around them. Insane hilarity turned into plain ol' rathin' insane RAEG upon this - Ebris didn't give a grod that he had rathed up Cole a lot more in this fight, as what the sumbitch did made things escalate a wee bit for the bounty hunter.

Blue eyes flaring like unstable plasma and his maw curling into frothing RAEG, the bounty scum plunged down and began to try and jam his thumbs as deep as he could into the Jimbo's eyes and skull.

Yeah, just a wee bit.

Now, this didn't happen immediately - Ebris had to deal with Cole's attempts at preventing him from popping his eyes like zits, which would undoubtedly be fierce as all hell. Still, the bounty hunter had done gone got berserk, and it seemed like it was a matter of time before the HUEG b*****d was gonna need a new set of googly eyes to go with a new ear and grod.

Well, that prolly would have happened, if that rathin' hissing noise didn't get so unbearably annoying.

Glancing up momentarily with a pissed off grunt, Ebris' mean gaze began to scour for what the source of the racket was. It was then, Ebris realized with a sinking feeling in his gut, that there wasn't a Throne-damned sentient in sight. Before, there were some who weren't entirely pussies and watched a bit, but now they were all rathin' gone. It only took a bit more lookin' and guessin' for Ebris to figure it all out - the source of the noise, the missing CHUMPS and why the fire was now suddenly moving in a strange manner.

Propane. Throne-damned propane.
