Chapter One: What It All Means.
One should always be careful of what they wish for, both aloud and mentally. For offering Heita this fight, Lazenca had been punched with such power, and at such an angle that skidded away comically on his face... and what with HEART screwing up, he was sure that a good slap to the face would open it all up again.
Urarha kept wanting Lazenca to show out, to really be the Alpha... whatever that meant. The fact that Laz goaded Urarha into this fight enough was proof that he had pull. But one could argue that the man was just tired of Laz being casually high and mighty and dangling the prospect of not being good enough for Ray in front of him, and wanted to send Laz's canines down his throat. Fair enough.
Urarha was very likely to regret letting himself get pulled into this rather meaningless (unless you were the two in the ring) fight. More than that, he was probably going to regret letting Lazenca stand around so much, rather than going for the quick finish.
Chapter Two: Scars Build Character
Lazenca had long ago learned that contact was the best way to figure out where someone was. One could only hope that this contact was brief and in passing... a brush in the opposite direction, a whiffed hit, a pulled punch. Direction and force, and in some instances, even intent could be figured out with the smallest brush, if one knew what to feel for... and had screwed it up enough to get that kinda feel.
When the uppercut came, Lazenca's hands remained their "gonna poke you in the eye" position... so when the overhand came, Lazenca could easily enough draw back his arms and block.
Only thing was, Lazenca neither blocked the attack, nor did he give a pain response to them. Rather, while leaning back, he dropped his right hand straight down, apparently limp as the left had been, as the left arm now drew up so that the horizontal elbow was pointing directly at Urarha. While his right leg was back, his left leg was notable still in outstretched position, foot still planted where it was a second ago. Though, Urarha might not be able to see all these details well with the large... dark... thing between the two men.
Chapter Three: One Thousand Eyes
He'd been expecting something more like a punch to the face, or even a kick to the groin. It was a good thing then that he... it couldn't feel pain. It could feel and register contact, and power... so when the gut punch came and it pulled out from the host the few inches to take whatever hit was coming, he nearly doubled, but not in pain. The second fist was coming and again, it took the hit just as Lazenca was pulling himself into Draw stance.
Without having to deal with responding to pain, it could focus on its job... it was only after the hit landed that Urarha would find his wrists grabbed, since the hits were in rapid succession, and one needed to respond to the power and all. Just like before, enough tensing would give ample resistance to Urarha's retraction of his limbs, preventing him from backing up easily out of confusion, surprise, anger, or readiness to trump. Did it matter if Urarha's gut-punching fist was pulled back, or thrown all the way behind him? Not at all... if it took more than half a second to grab that first arm, then it took ahold of Urarha's clothing, roundbouts the neck area. No shirt? A hand wrapped around the back of the neck, much like a Muay Thai clinch, would be fine too. Besides, it's not like he had to hold him long at all; anything would do.
It was completely black and cold to the touch. The Doppelganger had no color in its apparently open eyes... because its brows knit with the effort needed to quickly locate and restrain Urarha's wrists, one could see the dropping and raising of lids if they cared to look. However, it still managed to stare.
It may've even cracked the barest of grins.
Chapter Four: Rend the Sky
He couldn't... wait forever, he had the high ground and surprise. He stepped back in, sliding the left foot forward as he opened the arm and revealed his claws. Light leapt from the five points, creating a jagged tear in the air... and with the proximity (as they'd started this off in range for punching, and Lazenca's pulling back only took him about half a foot away), there was nowhere to go but against Urarha's face.
The right arm was moving simultaneous with the left, coming up and over and creating the same line effect. Had Heita not been RIGHT THERE in it, one would be able to see the cross from Fangs of the Arctic Wulf hanging in air. They would also be able to see the wall of light that Urarha was getting forced to, since as Lazenca's wrists flipped, he rose out of the squat that (a properly Drawn) Fangs of the Arctic Wulf always put him in, and moved straight into Maelstrom.
Though no Multiplier had been applied, Urarha had the horrid luck of getting slashed not only by Lazenca's physical claws, but the lines which may as well have been his claws anyway. He also had to deal with the confusion of the fact that during all of this, Doppelganger was absolutely unaffected by the lines as logic might suggest it should.
Chapter Five: The Hunter Bares His Fangs
And at the end of this wild, forceful bloodletting that was sure to tear many gashes through Heita's body and clothing (unless it was woven adaman like he'd been having to deal with), when Heita just might be compelled to collapse or something from the pain... Lazenca and the Doppelganger would hop backwards and fling their claws down to the ground, as if cleaning a weapon of the blood.
"Why would you suggest that Urarha would just fall from the slashing?"
Because Lazenca routinely killed beasts (and sometimes the stupid humanoid) with his claws and kept them as sharp as he could manage without stabbing himself whenever he needed to... cover his mouth to sneeze. One wouldn't be expected to be in fighting condition after stepping through a storm of flying knives, and though Lazenca's blows weren't aimed to kill at all (as the jugular would be missed by design)...
Urarha just wanted to "start things off," and seemed content enough in the fact that Lazenca wasn't fighting to the best of his ability.
Lazenca was more interested in the finish, because he had a lady in his room. who was surely dying to experience Big Wulfie Style all over again.
Glossary: What Just Happened
Ante Up Wrote:
A focused mind and still body allows Lazenca to to gather energy and perform attacks that call for a higher energy cost than he previously had. AKA "charging the super bar."
Doppelganger Wrote:
The first aural ability learned by Tenma ne Garo style users, the fighter is able to make a shadow clone. If the fighter is an elemental, the Doppelganger takes on his/her elemental properties. If it's defeated, the clone will become a quick torrent of whatever element the Tech's user is (for example, a fire-user's defeated Doppelganger will burst into flames). It's based on the prime principal of TnGaro: teamwork. The higher the skill of the user, the more times Doppelganger can be used, and the deadlier the combatant becomes.
Lazenca exclusive: When the Tech is activated, its physical power is added to the user's attacks if it attacks 'within' the user- it becomes two people punching at the same time, and feels as such. When the Tech is fully detached from the body, it cannot be reattached.
Fangs of the Arctic Wulf Wrote:
Using the hands, a cross symbol is "Drawn" in air which immediately spins and narrows as it speeds towards the opponent, becoming a sort of drill. The diameter of the cone's end is half the "draw's" width, and uncharged length is a half meter.
Since the Draw happens with his claws, damage is increased for being physically slashed, in addition to any white lines that touch the opponent.
Maelstrom Wrote:
Extension of Fangs of the Arctic Wolf, Lazenca wildly slashes at the air for a few seconds. Completely cancelling FotAW's "drill projectile" effect, this creates an apparent "wall" of white slashes that will hurt as much as actually being sliced into (assuming FotAW was uncharged; any Multiplier effect applies to Maelstrom). Once the "wall" is set, the it can be collapsed, directing it to attack a target much in the same way of FotAW. The visual lines begin to dissipate within a matter of seconds after being drawn, whether or not they hit someone.
Sparknotes™: TL;DR Recap
Lazenca lured Urarha into a false sense of security, however small. This was proven by Urarha believing that Lazenca wasn't fighting at his peak. The fact that Lazenca started the day by throwing up last night's meal had no bearing on this match; he was fine (if his Medium wasn't).
Standing still or walking slowly around himself hid the activation of the Doppelganger Tech, which would've showed itself as a shadow trail if he'd been moving any faster than he was. Without a great deal of action and response, Lazenca was also able to use Ante Up and aurally prepare for the next series of attacks.
Doppelganger took the hits from Urarha, then grabbed his wrists. This was possible because while it must respond to force, it doesn't respond to pain, eliminating all other subsequent second thoughts ("would it be safe to stick my hand in there?") and can go about its task.
Lazenca used Lv1 Fangs of the Arctic Wulf, immediately canceling into Maelstrom. Doppelganger holding Urarha prevented his escape. Doppelganger was not sliced apart at all, whereas Urarha should've feel the effects of sticking his face and chest into a meat grinder. Doppelganger's not being injured was due to Lazenca still being attached to it at the foot, and then constantly at the chest-to-arm connection (whereas if it had detached, it was open to being torn apart by Lazenca).
Urarha was not expected to continue fighting after taking a point-blank Maelstrom. While he was expected to be f'ked up, Maelstrom standing uncharged meant that with time and great care (from Ray, likely) and a little magic nurse touch, Urarha will be fine in a day, with his multiple gashes not producing horrific scarring.
Urarha might rethink ever re-challenging, or accepting a challenge from Lazenca, though. And if he got up, or miraculously got out of this assault (not impossible, but highly improbable), Lazenca was ready to continue.
