Stage0: Preliminaries

The Things Fox Hates Dojo

I think they may do Taekwondo here, and hey, is that a picture of John Cena?

A fighting arena of classical proportion, though those proportions don't have to be exactly defined. As long as the dojo has four walls, a roof and a floor, we're good with whatever size you decide on. The decor of course is just what you'd picture from an old kung-fu movie.

Terrain

General - Regular indoor floor, as interrupted occasionally by a mat for padding.

Weapons - One picture of John Cena.

Bonus Effects - Across the street one can occasionally hear mariachi music from the all night restaurant.

It seemed almost fitting that a place of such conflict would be so peaceful. Even the restaurant across the street seemed to be revering the silence, and the beams of light across the room showed the serene setting sun gazing through the wooden bars that made up a traditional window at the far end. The long, wide training area of the dojo seemed cleared and swept clean, with even the training mats rolled up and stacked in a corner below the window.

In such a fitting place, it was only natural that this very eastern-looking girl be sitting in front of the shrine at the far end, kneeling in the traditional Asian style with lower legs supporting the weight. Her long, white kimono, decorated with an assortment of colorful flowers and held together by a black obi decorated with the same flowers, was nestled neatly on either side of her so as not to get in the way. Her hair was tied up in a traditional Japanese bun, though disheveled with various strands sticking out where they may, and her eyes were shut with head bowed in prayer. Held in her clasped hands was a line of small, black, slate beads that she sifted through as she quietly recited the 81 Buddhist rites, one for each bead. Propped beside her, on the wall of the shrine, was an ornate white staff carved in the shape of a Chinese dragon, and directly to her right, laying peacefully on the ground parallel to her body, was a sheathed Katana of equally pure white.

One aspect of this otherwise traditional set-up, however, seemed off.. and that was that the woman was facing the direction opposite of what the casual observer would suspect. Instead of facing the shrine and its sweet aromas, she was facing the door where her black, cloth shoes sat upon the appropriate pad. What disrespect! Certainly she wasn't praying to the entrance... was she?

3Nightsnow

Perhaps she was praying to the possible contender that shall be her opponent for today, a brief silhouette already appearing near the entrance of this dojo. Casting nothing but a striking demeanor to the otherwise peaceful setting, the figure of a young man finally emerged from that brief moment, a passing wind causing the enlarged but tattered cloak he wore over himself to billow and flutter from behind. Nothing can be actually read from the man's expression as the hood covered nearly half of his face, only subtle hints of extraordinary blood-red hair peeking through what his cloth tried to cover.

A dual set of katanas was hung ominously on both sides of his hips.

"......"

He noticed his opponent as he finally walked in, pulling his hood back and gazing at her with that set of deep, bloody red irises. Giving a brief smile - at least out of courtesy - the swordsman pulled his cloak back, revealing some surprising sets of plain dark shirt and pants, hanging it to the sides and taking his boots off -- to try not to get the dojo stained with all the dirt and travels he'd done prior to getting here.

"So you're the rival for today, yes?" He finally commented, turning around to face her. "I've heard much of you. Did I keep you waiting?"

4Seena Brighteyes

A passing shadow, a still silhouette, and suddenly there stood the face-off. On one end there was the black, foreboding figure of man, and on the other was the white, peaceful figure of woman. Yet despite the sudden drastic shift of atmosphere, the girl still did not look up, did not even open her eyes as she continued down the line of beads in her hands, the faint chant escaping her lips clearly foreign.

Then he spoke.. her eyes suddenly jarring open in surprise and settling upon the mysterious red-headed figure at the other end of the room. If he had heard much about her, he obviously hadn't heard enough. Anyone who had met her would know very well how little English she understood. A fact that would become apparent at her blank stare. A stare that remained until her eyes came to rest on his swords, whereupon her expression widened, finally seeming to understand. A smile crossed her face and her head finally raised fully to meet his eyes (not a difficult feat considering the distance between them). She held up the beads in one hand and gave a beckoning motion, as if she was offering for him to take it.

"Koko, heiratshino jya. Korette zaru." (("C'mere. Take it.")) she said cheerfully. Though she was fairly certain he wouldn't understand, she hoped her gestures would be enough to get the point across.

5Nightsnow

Obviously he didn't hear enough. Hearing more or less from his teammate that spoke highly of his combatant, he had some presumed expectations when he walked in.

It's the strange language that took him off-guard instead, a brief flash of surprise fleeing through his gaze. The eyes blinked, taking back to composure before he could utter another word.

"Ah..."

There is definitely going to be a language barrier here. And if he can't communicate with his opponent, then...

The swordsman scratched a side of his cheek in thought. Noticing the familiar 'come-hither' action that accompanied the girl's response of the beads, it was hard to guess what she is actually trying to say. Is she saying something about him? Or...?

It can't be the first idea then, if she can't understand him just as he can't understand her. Therefore, it must mean that...

The swordsman took in a light breath, walking in just with whatever plain outfit he wore - long pants, long sleeves, and his weapons included - towards the girl. Bracer armor that he would've worn on a normal occasion was nuzzled within the cloak, as he stood just a few steps away from reaching her body.

"Uh...."

He stared at the beads shifting under her motion. Then back up at her eyes in curiosity. Then back at the beads, eventually reaching out with his left hand to form the shape of a cup underneath where the beads jiggled.

6Seena Brighteyes

((01/10))

Then it was time for a few life lessons as the beads came sailing up at his face. Not threateningly, of course, just a light toss, but the distraction should have been enough. Heaven or Hell was serious business, and to let your guard down so easily would be a mistake he was about to be sharply reminded of.

In an instant her left hand had snatched the sword by her side and her knees left the ground, the balls of her feet propelling her forward and slightly to the man's left, ducking just under the arm that was previously outstretched. In the same motion the blade of her Katana was out of its sheath and rocketing through the air in a standard Iaido draw, the motion arcing the sword around until it found its way to the cloaked man's back. The swordswoman was not completely without honor, though, and his only saving grace came when her wrist twisted at the last second, leaving the blow to land on the flat of the blade. If all went well, he would have a pretty red stripe across his back from the hard whipping motion and stinging would be one of his lesser worries.

7Nightsnow

-- 1 --

Serious or not, had the swordsman been more inexperienced he would've just used both hands to cup itself underneath the beads just to be polite.

Yet he didn't, having only one hand outstretched to have the course work both ways --

For whatever formal duel just between swords that the swordsman had harbored prior to the fight diminished drastically after that stunt she pulled off, his head already tilting towards the right from the distraction. But she wasn't going to be the one that is going to be on the advantage for long, for something came intercepting her slash immediately with a dull, but resonant --

CLANG!

The sheathed blade on his right was pushed to point directly downwards, the tip of the scabbard rising up backwards and turning itself into a form of defensive means, blocking her Iaido slash that came for his back.

Whatever fleeting courtesy he had left for his opposition - by that split instant, it is safe to say that the intentions of the swordsman just went cold, at that moment.

Surprised he may be when she threw the beads at his face, it would've worked if she drew her blade simultaneously at the same time to not give him enough time to react against her strike. But perhaps harboring some saving grace which she - unfortunately - had the nerve to do so after that stunt, it only meant one thing to him;

The fight is on.

Quickly after the action, the swordsman twisted his body to the right halfway, pulling his left hand down to smash his left hilt towards his own hip. This caused the sheathed blade on his left side to whip outwards like a bludgeoning hammer, using his own left hip as a pivot point as the scabbard careened straight towards - presumably, her left torso. And because of his rotation to the right, it added more force to the whip of his left blade, while at the same time giving the swordsman an escape route from his disadvantage --

A motion to push off and away from the girl using his right foot immediately whether or not the strike hits her torso.

8Seena Brighteyes

((02/10))

CLANG!

A smile spread across her face, this one much more sincere. He was good. Her respect for him had suddenly raised enough that she was starting to regret catching him by surprise... then again, if she hadn't she wouldn't have found out. Funny how those circles worked.

Her surprise didn't lessen her readiness for the counter, however, and with the force she had jumped off with, by the time he managed to get his hand back down to his sheath she was already on her second step and well out of range, bringing herself to a halt 5 feet away. Just as quickly as it had come, the swordswoman slipped the blade back into the sheath and turned a shoulder to face the opponent who would doubtlessly be turning at the same time.

She swiftly slipped the scabbard into her left hand and let it hang loosely at her side while she bowed, a satisfied smile still hovering on her features.

"Warukatta ne.. demo, err... yuure good." She stated even while searching her memory for the right words to try and give some semblance of communication. Despite this final stint of courtesy, she was ready for an attack at any moment; after all, the real fight had only just begun.

9Nightsnow

-- 2 --

No doubt the woman is playing around with the swordsman, but he didn't have the mind to pay attention to what she's trying to say. And when he whirled to confront her directly, something clicked in his mind, warning him about the stance the woman has now taken.

"...!"

In response, the swordsman unsheathed both of his katana blades in an instant, flipping his right blade over to hold it normally while leaving his left held in a reverse-dagger hold.

Odd for someone using a Nitoryuu style (Twin blade), but his actions speak for itself as he returned the gesture --

By putting himself at a left side stance, aiming the hilt end of his left blade towards her stomach, and having his right blade held aloft to the side, chest level. It was an implied motion of using stabs as a counter-offensive means with his right blade, while the left - judging from how he tucked it close to his left hip - meant that he would use that blade for defensive purposes only.

However, stances sometimes gives false analysis on how the swordsman would act, and as he waited with a blank stare for the girl to finish and prepare herself, he would only wait until she was ready before dashing off at her at a --

Slow speed?

When in range, the swordsman would stab towards her stomach with his right blade at a mediocre speed -- more than enough time for the girl to dodge or counter it however she sees fit.

10Seena Brighteyes

((03/10))

The man seemed rather unimpressed at her attempt to communicate... no surprise. It was time to fight anyways.

Saya stiffened at the forward momentum, but for one who played in a reactive style this slower pace was getting to her. Normally she could discern and react to an attack in a split second, but this slow approach and stab was allowing her far too much time to think... 'I'm being baited. He's not taking me seriously. That tea I had this afternoon was rather tasty. What IS the meaning of life, the universe, and everything? Did someone say 42? What's that shiny thing over there? Oh wait, his attack is coming now.'

Though she suspected it was a bad idea, he was just moving too slow for her to NOT counter. Thus, as his sword came in for the stab, her sheath came up to parry. With a hollow thud she brushed his stab to the right, across his body, with the area of the scabbard just below her grip. That left blade would be much harder pressed to defend if he had to reach over and around his arm and shoulder to get where it needed to be... and need to be it did, because in an instant her right hand flicked up and the sword was once again arcing towards him in a lightning draw, aimed to slice into his right shoulder and down the arm as far as it would go. He was ready this time, there was no need to hold back.

The power and speed generated from an Iaido draw was truly frightening, and if it hit he would be suffering from a pretty deep gash down the length of his shoulder and upper arm. Meanwhile her left hand was still pressing her sheath to her right side, protecting against whatever his sword might do next.

11Nightsnow

-- 3 --

Assuming he interpreted the move correctly, the girl pushed his right sword to his own left, causing his sword arms to clash together and get mingled into a single, complex situation to get himself out of. A well-thought, logical way to counter stabs, but in this case, the swordsman had developed something out of the ordinary to combat her with.

It was no more than some ideas he'd integrated into his combat style, and as he would be showing her soon, the force behind the stab was unexpectedly light.

So light, coupled with the intentionally slow speed, that as soon as she brushed his stab to angle across his body, his right elbow came to be slightly bent accordingly in a pose that should alert the girl immediately, if she cared to pay attention;

A prepped slash in a left side stance.

In a surprisingly fast speed that went completely beyond the impression he gave to his opponent, the swordsman gave a sudden jolt on his right shoulder down diagonally like a whip, causing the countered sword on his right hand to slash right down the girl's body from right shoulder to central torso. The aim is especially for her right arm/wrist section, which would be in the path of his slash as he performs the motion like a blitzkrieg.

He is familiar of such techniques the girl is employing, having used those same moves himself back in the past. A quick-draw technique that is based as a counter or preemptive strike - before the opponent can draw the sword, or after the opponent has launched the attack - has many pros that benefit those who use that style. However, there is also cons in the style too, as the swordsman would demonstrate for her.

Facing a foe that uses quick-draw techniques, all he needed to do is to restrict the girl's motion of her right arm. A quick-draw style would work only if the blade is completely out of the sheath - which meant a full clockwise motion of the arm using that technique. If he is to merely place a blade directly in the path of where the arm or wrist has to pass before the sword is fully unsheathed, then the things that gave quick-draw techniques its prowess would also be its hinderance in an unexpected side-effect.

And placing the girl in such a situation...

Whether or not he was taking her seriously, this fight isn't going to be like any others the girl has fought before.

12Seena Brighteyes

((04/10))

'Subarashi.'

Saya was relieved to discover that he had been baiting her after all; now this was the pace of battle! His little twisting maneuver was enough to tell Saya that she had left her right arm unprotected, and he seemed to have the advantage of speed in this particular instance, at least when it came to whose strike would land first. So she did the only thing she really could do.. block it.

In mid draw her left hand stopped resisting and began moving with her right, resheathing the partially drawn sword, reversing her left's grip, and pushing the sheath in front of her right arm to meet the strike with a resounding thunk! His sword would cut a niche into the same area she had parried it with before, probably becoming momentarily stuck... only the sheath would not stop moving, as there was little power he could muster one-handed that high on his sword; even if he had superior strength, physics would be greatly against him, especially with his awkward 'left-center' stance.

It seemed he had some experience in her style, but one did not earn the title of 'master' without having overcome the style's inherent weaknesses. The swordswoman's bag of tricks encompassed far more than simple quick-draws, and if the man was looking to stop her draws, he would be in for quite a surprise as the butt of the sheath came soaring in at his face.

Unfortunately, this maneuver had put her sword's blade facing her, something that would prevent an effective draw from whatever position. Thusly, after the momentum of the strike was in full force, her right hand would leave the handle and hover in front of her just in case something went wrong anywhere.

13Nightsnow

-- 4 --

The fact that the swordswoman has some bags of tricks up her sleeves, the swordsman wouldn't be too surprised about it. Techniques vary between each and every person that wields a sword, and many tend to overcome their style's weakness by ingenious methods or tactics when they're forced to do so. The swordsman himself is of no exception of course, as he usually mixes all forms of tactics and methods into his action.

So, while his attack was halted and grinded down by the girl's sudden interference with her sheath, it did not mean that he needed superior strength to overwhelm her current defense.

Instead, as he saw how the sheath was aligned, the swordsman quickly took a small, side step to the right by pushing off with his left leg, letting the sheath fly pass harmlessly over his left shoulder in reactive response. At the same time, the blade stuck in her sheath skidded in response to his motion just as he delivered a left thrust straight towards her liver/pelvis stomach with the butt-end of his left blade that he hasn't used until this moment.

That way, in a closing distance, the swordsman would have the ability to knock the wind out of her in a painful shot, while also putting himself in a preparatory position to lock her blade if he gets the chance to do so.

14Seena Brighteyes

((05/10))

Funny thing about bludgeoning attacks is they didn't tend to stop when the target is a little to the side of the direction they were already moving. With the sheath arcing from left to right, stepping right would only result in getting hit by the sheath a moment later. This time, however, she would match his side step, stepping forward and slightly more to his right, further into his stance, where even more momentum would be generated in the swing. This, accented by his sword skidding up her sheath and getting caught on the ring where the strap was held, adding even more torque to her thrust, would mean that when her sheath did strike the side of his head it would really hurt.

Then his strike came, and though she had been keeping her eye on that sword, she didn't expect it to come quite so soon. It seemed she wasn't the only one who liked using parts of the sword other than the sharp end. As she saw the attack coming, however, some strange new instinct told her that getting hit in the stomach would hurt more than just herself, so instinctively she twisted to the side and took the blow in her hip.

'Itai!' she winced; that bruise would stick around for a while. A solid blow that would catch on her Kimono and slide to her back, even as she pressed in closer. Why closer? Because he had taken her bait, and it was time to spring the trap.

"Makesete." (("Give up.")) she stated rather bluntly even as her right hand clasped down upon the sheath and her left shot up its length, drawing the sword over her left shoulder and quickly arcing it around in the clockwise motion previously mentioned. This time both his swords were occupied, they were at close range, and he would likely be reeling from a solid smack to the head. As her wrist flicked around, it would become apparent why the sword worked amazingly well while facing the wrong direction, as this maneuver was commonly known by western fighters as a "wrap", something that was really only done with a double-edged sword, but a single-edge facing inward would work just the same. It was amazing what unconventional techniques one could pick up whilst pillaging upon the open seas.

What happened here would vary depending upon how he reacted to it. If she felt his left sword move in any way, the blade would come to rest deep in his right side, or angled as necessary should he decide to squirm. If not, it would come to rest on his back, more than likely across his spine, or, like before, angled as necessary should he decide to squirm or move his sword at the last second. If, however, he made the easiest move at this point and conceded, the blade would come to rest upon him in the appropriate location mentioned above, only as a threatening tap, rather than a dangerous blow.

15Nightsnow

-- 5 -- (( :: EDIT:: ::EDIT:: ))

Even so, against the disadvantages presented to him, the swordsman still had some leverage in getting out of the misfortune through various means. For example, as the incoming sheath careening towards the left side of his face was about to hit, the swordsman still had some influence on the opponent's weapon.

Pushing his right blade away from him, he could feel the muscles on his right side stressing against her blow as it came dangerously close to his face. Through the last critical moment, the swordsman immediately dropped his height by bending his knees somewhat, forcing his already caught blade on his right higher than necessary -- the tsuba guard catching the ring strap on the girl's weapon and the scabbard skimming just above his head in a narrowly dodged miss.

At the same time, a split second later, the swordsman abandoned his right blade through an unexpected move--

-- The right blade aloft momentarily in the air, right side slackening a bit --

Before his empty right hand shot out like a lightning whip to grab her neck by going from her chest upwards, planning to either stop just short from delivering a palm strike or a firm lock right at her neck/chin area.

If necessary, he'll adjust accordingly to do something otherwise if this fails.

A small reason why he took a stance with his left leg in front; it is a typical stance used in boxing, though modified for people with weapons.

And at such close distance, even though he might get cut and recieve more damage than she does...

Well, he'll see how this'll develop. So just as she is having him take the bait by stepping in closer, the swordsman would also step closer and limit her range with his own body, putting both of them at a stalemate in action as best as he can. The left side would hug her back if she tries to do anything that would injure him more, giving him more leverage for counters, but wouldn't go after her if she tries to retreat instead.

Meanwhile, a mysterious cold front is starting to spill out of the swordsman's body with her at such close presence....

WHACK!

His head went off to the right, his eyes dazed over from the impact. Reeling to the side, his left blade that had already struck the girl's hips would be pulled back as his sense of balance is lost, causing him to stumble to his right. But that too failed him as he fell, his right leg buckling under his weight and causing him to collapse towards his right. Even the blade on his right had to be abandoned because of of the ring strap, the damn thing pulling him further out of balance as he released his grip on it, and used his right hand to support his weight by slamming it down on the ground behind him.

But to at least fend off the possible onslaught made by the girl's presence should she try to advance and deliver the blow, he had his left blade slash inward to his chest - the reverse hold dagger on his left side coming into another use as it went for the girl's thigh/knee in general.

Regardless if it hit or not, he'll scramble away from her as fast as possible - at least to build some distance between the two...

And force to confront her with only one of his original two blades.

16Seena Brighteyes

((06/10))

Strange... it was almost like she was seeing double... and one of those visions was pretty horrifying. Still, she felt the sheath connect, and that was enough for her sword to be drawn and wrapped around his body. The fact that he was falling and flailing? An issue that was solved by bringing her rebounding sheath and right arm to grasp around his receding left hand as she stepped forward and bent her knees with his fall. One of the distinct benefits of being so much shorter than him was that she had more time to react vertically. Ideally, her arm would trap his hilt and hand at her side and her sheath would come around on the inside and latch onto his sword's tsubasa where he couldn't go throwing it about recklessly.

The sword that had been previously caught on her sheath when he let go of it came around to graze her right shoulder when she yanked it, having to move fast enough to catch his arm mid-fall. The sword would cut a sizeable gash in her Kimono and leave a pretty cut in her shoulder before falling to the floor behind her. It hurt, alot, but her body was already on auto-pilot.. it would take a bit more than that to stop her now. Run away? No... not while she had anything to say about it. Letting the opponent regain himself was not good battle practice, after all.

Then her wrap would come around, though not as hard as originally intended. She was catching his right side with her sword. If he didn't correct his balance quickly, it would bite through his cloak, hard, as it would be supporting almost all his weight. If everything went as planned she would lean down into his ear, almost sensually.

"Daijoubu jya. A - ki - ra - me - te." (("It's alright. Re - sign.")) she whispered in a soothing, yet commanding tone. She was fairly certain he wouldn't understand the words, but with a sword at his side that could easily be stabbed through and whilst in a lock that significantly hindered his actions, she hoped he would be able to make some logical assumptions.

17Nightsnow

-- 6 --

This is going to be a move that the swordsman will pull off instinctively without any intentions as everything is happening in a near-like blur.

While he 'flailed', as the girl has generously stated in her post, he is out of balance and not in the right mind to do something cool or anything that can be called an anti-climatic ending to this fight.

Instead, as the girl had wrapped her hand about his left blade, it gave the swordsman...a leverage.

And since she is petite and rather small compared to his height and slightly muscular build...it only meant one thing.

He was placing quite some weight into the motion, using his own body weight to pull her down as well. As if hugging her right side and having his left arm curl inwards to pull her into an embrace, his entire body is acting like the weight that would pull her right into him before he crashed into the ground - abandoning whatever plans to keep him upright or stable.

This means, before she can realize it quickly enough in those extremely short seconds, he'll have pulled her right down onto the ground next to him, and her initial intent at using her blade to pierce his right side would be met by his right forearm in defense, keeping away on his right side at bay.

This would essentially put him in a position where he can just roll right on top of her, and...well, do whatever that is needed to turn the odds to his favor, at least to some extent.

And if she thinks she can cut through his right forearm, there is one small thing that the swordsman mentioned just before the fight started.

He's wearing bracers that can withstand sword slashes underneath that long cloak and sleeves of his.

18Seena Brighteyes

((07/10))

Ting?

Arms don't go ting! Blasted armor!

There were, however, a few details he was missing. Firstly, and most importantly, even if he was bending his arm back as far as it would go a wrap was still a wrap, and if he was pulling her down with him, he'd be landing on top of a very sharp sword still angled width-ways across his back, just below his shoulder blades. Now even physics was against him, since the weight of two people was far greater than what she could generate with a softened swing... and if his arm was blocking it in the air, the tip would find its way somewhere near his left side when they hit the ground. Essentially, in his moment of instinct, he was quite literally stabbing himself in the back.

At the same time, it was all Saya could do to hang on as she buried her face in his chest to brace against the impact. She may have been strong, but the unbalanced weight of a fully grown man was still a bit much for her to hold up with an arm and a sword. When they hit the ground her sword would bite into his back shortly before the ornate tsubasa broke and the blade snapped flat on its side. In the meantime she would be letting go of the sword to throw her hand out onto the ground for support, inadvertently saving her fingers from being smashed by the hilt. His sword would also likely cut through both their hands and arms as it shot up when the reverse-extended blade met the hard wood floor.

Then it came down to the second detail he was overlooking. The little Japanese girl may have been just that, but that belied a strength earned from a lifetime of combat. On top of the fact that she would be only injured to a minor extent and was the one already on top, whereas he would have just taken a sword to the back shortly after a blow to the head. Crawling up his body and bringing both knees to rest on his arms would not be a terribly difficult feat for her. Once she had him pinned, one bloody right hand could rest casually on his chest, ready to jump one direction or the other at a moment's notice, and her left hand could slide over to her right side, reaching to grasp the sore spot on her side where she had been struck. The issue now was, was he even still conscious and willing to fight whilst unarmed and pinned?

19Nightsnow

-- 7 --

Ah, but the female should pay more attention to how he's falling; in a clockwise motion, he's landing down on his right shoulder when he impacts the ground. Since he'd already stumbled in two posts prior to this incident, it was his right leg giving away that is causing him to fall down and to his side.

Hence the reason why he mentioned about rolling on top of her previously; because in that moment, she would be grabbed, hugged, and slammed to the ground right of him nearly the same time he fell, similar to a judo throw.

This would save him the agony of being actually pierced by the blade when it struck his back; his rotation would cause the sharp tip of her blade to miss the mark, but leave a glancing blow that would slice open that thick cloak of his and leave a rather long flesh wound near his left side/shoulder section. Nothing fatal, but the injury is going to just hurt like hell after a short while.

Of course, this would mean that her blade wouldn't snap, unfortunately, because of the clockwise rotation he's revolving in. This would give her an ample opportunity afterwards to retaliate if she's able to when he lands on his right shoulder; his right forearm, geared with the armor, would land literally on top of her blade when he rolls again to his right in attempt, pinning the weapon down. And since he wouldn't smack his head again onto the wooden floor due to his right shoulder cushioning his fall - although the muscles there weren't enough to absorb the impact and damage --

It means that admist the fumble, during that period where he'll be trying to focus his gaze on the opponent, his left hand - along with the hilt of his blade that would have avoided the rebound on the ground because of his clockwise revolution - would be pressing firmly just somewhat underneath her right breast as he tried to get up from his disorientated moment.

20Seena Brighteyes

((08?/10))

Great, first she was seeing double, now she was seeing dejavu. First he was falling and pulling her down with him, then suddenly they were back on their feet falling again, only this time he was twisting and judo-throwing her.. her head would be hurting even if she DIDN'T hit the floor. But hit the floor she did, and much harder in this version of reality. She was barely able to save her head from smacking the floor, but her shoulder and hip would be seriously sore in the morning.

It was a relief to feel her blade finally sink in, though not so much of a relief when it was knocked out of her hand by his arm and the floor shortly after. This would prompt her to bounce a little closer, placing her elbow and the entirety of her weight onto his right arm shortly before sliding to her shoulder once more, still attempting to pin his arm, and reach up with her left hand to grab his left. His left hand and sword would still theoretically be caught in her right arm's grasp, as a fall would only serve to tighten it, not break it loose, but even if it wasn't her next action wouldn't be too hindered.

It was almost frustration acting out as she let go of her sheath and slipped her arm out of the hold, fairly certain she could hold him close enough with her left hand, and reached behind her back with her right. She had one final trump card: a tanto hidden in the bow of her obi, which she would swiftly pull out, holding it in the reverse grip he was well familiar with, and proceed to drive it into his left shoulder, just to the left of his upper pectoral muscle so it wouldn't scrape up against bone if it went all the way through.

He obviously hadn't gotten the message before, so it was time to send one a bit more clear and to the point.

It is rather hasty, and although his initial action didn't work as she scrambled up onto him before he could do the same thing to her, just that bit of extra time was just barely enough for him to at least have his dazed mind focus onto the girl's general body for one final counter.

Coughing out from his lips, his right hand moved sideways on the ground to his own respective chest, breaking her left hand's dominance over that limb only. He can't do anything much to get him out of this position, and certainly her planned attack is going to land much faster than his counter. Yet, as he snaked his right hand upwards to have it planted to the left side of her chest firmly, a sudden shearing pain ripped right through his left shoulder, and down his left chest.

"...!!"

Blood flowed out of the swordsman's left side like an overflowing bucket, while his eyes widened in surprise. He'd been directly slashed, he knew that very well from the sensation, and his mind thought of only one thing when his gaze focused onto her face from that surprise;

Aw, hell.

Something red, sharp, and unexpectedly cold would erupt right out of his right hand, tearing straight through the left portion of her kimono at point-blank range. It wouldn't stab that deep into the side of her left chest as she might expect, but once it pierces her skin and flesh, the sharp object would stretch temporarily within the wound to tear it even further apart, inflicting much more pain than a normal stab could even possibly do.

This isn't a complete counter that can turn the tide to his advantage; his left continued to bleed profusely and tainting parts of his cloak in a color that matched his eyes and hair. But since he would be able to assert a position to negotiate and not keep this a one-way battle...

With her Tanto dangerously close to where his vital organ is, and his own retaliation just as dangerously close to her vital organ as well...

It's painful, but he utters something at her at a grimace;

"Draw?"

A far shot at getting the message across, but it is worth a shot.

'O_O!?'

Pain? The look on her face echoed shock and disbelief. How could he have managed to stab her!? He pulled a hidden knife and managed to get her even through the pain of getting stabbed himself? No... that wasn't a knife. It was some kind of spike... wait, was it coming out of his hand!? Of all the magical abominations she could have come across, they had to pick the one that could shoot spikes from his hands! Stabbing while hurt was one thing, but casting a spell with a sharp metal object recently lodged in your shoulder? That was quite an amazing feat.

Blood ran freely, leaving permanent stains upon her kimono, and she could feel her left arm growing numb through the massive, searing pain. Still, she was a warrior and this pain was not entirely unfamiliar. It was enough for her to grasp both the knife in his chest and, even as her grip on his left hand failed, her left hand found and held the scabbard she had dropped before. She then brought her legs up, pressing her bare feet against his lower valuables.

Finally, she would sharply twist her tanto inside him, it was only fair that he have an equally large wound, after all, and then she pushed. Pushed the tanto? No.. she was brave, but not foolish. In one smooth motion her legs would shoot forward, burying deeper into the family jewels, and following the motion she would rip out the knife and slide away. If the distance was enough to clear her from his bloody spike she would roll once and regain some composure on her knees at a safe length away.

Even if he could extend the spike, the use of his tenders as a trampoline was theoretically enough to make even the stoutest of wizards pause. The pain of having the spike ripped out of her arm would be roughly the same as her knife from him, so it was her intention to make sure he didn't pursue by using a little extra incentive. The next round would doubtlessly be one of recovery, assuming that either of them still had the will, or time, to fight anyways.

Technically, it isn't a spike that just popped from nowhere at all. It was actually his own blood which he froze, having it pop right out of the veins near his hand at close range. As she might come to know later after this round, the swordsman has a particular feat in manipulating external or internal sources of water and ice to his will whenever and however he wants. It's just that there's a time displacement roughly proportional to the size or density he wants.

Of course, there is a method on how he's able to do it, but that shall be left for later explanations when it's needed.

Anyways.

....

Before the swordsman can do anything much to place himself at a stalemate against her, his eyes widened in disbelief at what the girl just did. In less than a second to even grit his teeth against the pain that continued to sear through his left chest, he found out - the hard way - that he just got the wind knocked out of him. A more pressing pain erupting from right where she slammed both her foot down.

He coughed, his body twitching in erratic throbs from the blow, both legs pressed together as if trying to mend the pain that burned fiercely between his groin.

"Ff.......aw.....hell...!!"

He gasped, gritting his teeth and - in sheer agony - rolled to his right side to close the wound on his left a bit - trying to keep more blood from seeping out of the injury. Breathing hard and seeing more black spots closing in near his view, his right hand - with the bloody spike still portruding out of it - slowly seeped back into his skin just as he pressed it against the injuries on his left.

Some cracking sound is heard, and only when he finally tried to prop himself up in a sitting position after a minute or so, the girl probably can see that he attempted some light healing; hard, reflective colors of blood that glistened near the injury. Freezing the wound shut so that he doesn't lose anymore blood. Of course, this didn't mean that he can heal or regenerate himself, since it is only a makeshift bandage at its best. However, there is a slight side effect of numbing the nerves on the injuries so it feels less painful than it should be...

The burning sensation continued to make his groin throb from the pain.

It still hurted like hell, and the swordsman didn't like it one bit, being hit there, yet....

Through pained coughs and the occasional throb of injured flesh that snuck past his somewhat numbed nerves, as his eyes locked onto the girl's presence...

He took his time staring at her firmly before he pointed his right hand right at where the girl is and made a 'come hither' gesture, pointing to where her injury is.

It seems that the swordsman doesn't plan on dragging this fight further than necessary, both sides already injured - with his injuries being more serious than the girl. Obviously he was trying to hide that fact, the pained look on his face changing to a firm stance, as if her blow didn't take him out as much as she'd expected it to. Through controlled efforts to keep himself from writhing on the floor in pain, he was trying to make gestures of a temporary truce - doing that 'come hither' motion so that he could also patch her wounds up before the injury worsens.

That is, if she can tell what the hell he's trying to imply with that language barrier in the way.

"Shi - ma - ta!" (("Sh - i - t!"))

She had the whole shock factor to cushion the pain of the spike being stabbed, but there were no such liberties as it was yanked out. Through the pain she was growing frustrated at this cursed tournament. If she had just been allowed to kill she could have stabbed his heart and avoided all this unnecessary pain and the tragic loss of a very good kimono. She had given him more than fair warning, after all.

Blood splattered in several directions as she flipped herself to her knees, and though she tried to put up the warrior's facade it wasn't long before her tanto fell to the ground and her hand came to press against the wound. He was taking his sweet time down there, and she was half tempted to go pay him another visit, when suddenly an odd ding resounded through the building.

'Jikan ka? Zamen de..' she thought as she fell to the ground and sprawled out on her back. It had been a fairly decent fight, and rules were rules. It was ironic, but despite the pain all she could think about was how to repair or get a new kimono. Nevermind that he was offering to 'heal' her (as much as she actually trusted that, anyways), the outfit was the important part! Maybe as soon as the room stopped spinning she would go find her psychic friend and see if he could help her find a tailor to replicate her kimono.

For now, however, she was losing a lot of blood and really just felt like closing her eyes and resting for a bit... that was healthy, right? smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif

If there was no rule to keep the opposition alive...

It's just different points of view, in the swordsman's opinion. Since each had their own methods of explaining what they could've done to each other, he avoided anymore unnecessary arguments needed, eventually forcing himself up to stand, despite his own injuries.

"Ugh!"

Damn, he winced.

The wounds still hurted like a b***h.

His eyes peered at the sprawled out girl, the end of the fight chiming throughout the building. Well, he CAN just walk away and let the medics come tend to her when they arrive...

But that would be rather offensive if misinterpreted. So, hobbling over to where she lay resting, he knelt down and hollered out to the sides with an irritated voice --

"MEDIC!"

-- Placing his hand close to where he stabbed her with his spike, and concentrating a bit to close her wound up with some light freezing.

At least that'll keep her healthy enough to get patched up by the pros when they arrive.

"Dunno if you can understand what the hell I'm saying, but -- whatever." He muttered under his breath.
