StageX: Channel 7News Room

After a short stint with pirate news station P!TV last year, Gaia's Channel 7 News is back and better than ever. With an event as large as Heaven or Hell each year, it's only natural that the media flocks to the event like flies to honey. Or poo. But honey usually catches more flies, which is exactly why now, more than ever, the media has set up mobile news stations to catch all the excitement as it happens.

One of the many (and more prominent) mini-news stations situated near the Crimson Hawk Hotel, and to a lesser extent, around Latent, Channel 7 News has managed to regroup and come back better than ever, save for the lingering Captain Squawkers, the new parrot mascot, who seems to sing "Jaguar~" at inappropriate times. Quickly becoming known for it's variety of reporters and at least somewhat accurate reporting, Channel 7 News has become a trusted source for news from Barton to Durem and beyond.

Terrain

General - Desks and chairs everywhere. Very cramped, leading to an increased chance of sexual harassment suits.

Weapons - Monitors, chairs, smaller members of staff, the water cooler, coffee machine, pens, microphones, cameras, TPS Reports.

Bonus Effects - +2 to Hot Coffee and +3 to Standing Around The Water Cooler.

Pregame Report

[The camera sweeps in, moving from a large "G7" logo above the newswrap, across a large background screen reserved primarily for showing a fuzzy and most likely pre-recorded view of the newsroom. It eventually settles on a blond man shuffling a few papers before looking at the camera. The young woman next to him is busy writing something down.]

Good evening, Gaia, this is Charles Stickley with Gaia 7 News. We will, as always, start with our top story. As you've all most likely heard, the famous Heaven or Hell Tournament has sprung back to life, seeming to show that rumours of it's death were greatly exaggerated. Our very own Alicia Aicila is live on the scene.

[A short fade to a crowded room, packed with reporters. Alicia's flamboyant outfit sticks out among the rest.]

"Thanks, Chap! The conference has just finished up, and we can, in fact, confirm that the tournament is alive and well, rising not unlike the phoenix from the ashes of it's former year."

[The screen splits in two, showing Charles on the left and Alicia on the right. Underneath Charles it reads "Latent Newsroom," and under Alicia, "HoH Announcement."]

A look of non-surprise washed over Charles' face. "We've received word that there's been some changes to the proceedings this year. Is the Foundation still involved?"

Alicia's cat ears twitched. "Noah actually just introduced Lumina, spokesperson for The Order of Illumination. It's a little fuzzy what's going on at the moment, but it seems that these two will be working together this year to host the Heaven or Hell tournament."

The question of another reporter rose above the din, and Alicia turned to listen.

"Mr. Noah, will this merger have any bearing or effect on the Heaven or Hell Tournement slated to begin in just two weeks?"

The room went silent for a moment, and it even seemed like normally deadpan Charles showed some interest, leaning in slightly, as Noah's stoic response rolled in.

"I assure all of you that any possible changes should not be evident in any way to effect the tournament you all have come to know and love. The merging with The Order of Illumination is purely of two separate entities with similar goals wishing to assist one another."

Turning back to the camera, there was a sparkle in Alicia's eye. It seemed like she was bouncing a little bit. "So exciting... erm, I mean, there you have it, Charles! Heaven or Hell is back, and here to stay. I'll be trying to get in touch with Noah and Nikki, and possibly Lumina. As you can clearly see..." she turned to face the rest of the room, and stopped for a moment.

"Who..."

There was a short pause before Charles picked up the slack. "Everything okay, Alicia?" The girl quickly regained her composure, nodding quickly. "Oh, it's nothing. Stay tuned for more information on this year's Heaven or Hell. Alicia Aicila, signing off!"

[The dual-presentation ends, Charles' side of the screen expanding and accommodating for the woman next to him. She shuffles her papers and begins to speak.]

"In other news, filming on the new Rage V movie is expected to start within the next few days...."

Shindig Shenanigans

[The camera sweeps in, moving from a large "G7" logo above the newswrap, across a large background screen reserved primarily for showing a fuzzy and most likely pre-recorded view of the newsroom. It eventually settles on a brown-haired cat girl shuffling a few papers nervously before looking at the camera. The young woman next to her is busy admiring her nails.]

"Good evening, Gaia, this is Alicia Aicila with Gaia 7 News filling in for Charles "Chap" Sickley, I mean Stickley! ...who has come down with something. We hope its not Swine Flu, because that's just bad news for all of us. But enough about that! We will, as always, start with our top story."

"As most of Gaia is aware, the Heaven or Hell Tournament starts tomorrow, and the Ceremonial Ball was held at the famous Crimson Hawk Hotel in Latent where the Fighting Brackets for this year were announced. But what most people didn't know what that the party was crashed by some very grouchy uninvited guests!"

[A short fade to the interior of the banquet hall packed with party-goers and invited news people happens, followed shortly by video of the cloaked men crashing through the roof and attacking and defeating the security guards. Alicia's voice continues over the footage in a voice-over.]

"This exclusive Channel 7 footage shows the party crashers, who apparently are called "The Society of the Shade" as they break in through the roof and verbally attack The Order Representative, Lumina."

[The shaky camera quickly focused on the three men and Lumina as they continued their verbal exchange.]

“You call me disgusting when you cause mayhem and violence for your own selfish goals? These people have done nothing wrong! We have done nothing wrong! Please don’t involve them in all of this!”

The cloaked man laughed out loud and grunted.

“You involved them the moment your despicable Order teamed up with these bloodthirsty fight-mongers. The Order knows how we work, Lady Lumina. We will remove all that oppose us, by any means necessary... Anything to stand in your way and your misguided ideals of ‘utopia’ and ‘acceptance’. It is absolutely sickening…”

[The camera then pans down to show a pair of cat ears cowering under a table before the footage is quickly cut off. A cry of "Ow! What the-?" and shock is heard in the background as the scene cuts to the news chair as the cat-girl quickly runs back and sits, straightening her hair.]

cough "Sorry, we were experiencing technical difficulties with our video crew. But we should be alright now!" The girl smiles as she quickly hides the broken handle of a shattered coffee mug under her desk.

"Anyway, speculation and rampant confusion run wild after the events of the Ceremony. No one really knows what the m-ti--s -f th-- --ou--"

The picture on the television screen begins to spasm as the broadcast apparently has problems from its source. The picture fades as another face soon makes its appearance in place of the cat girl, clearly not in the news room, but somewhere else...

6-HoH- Atma

Shindig Shenanigans Continued...

There stood a cloaked man. But as he stood, his arm lifted up and pulled back his hood, removing the cloak and exposing his face to the viewers of the television screen. He was surprisingly attractive with striking green eyes and dark brown hair, with a single scar across his otherwise handsome face. He looked to the camera and began to speak, his voice clear and well-spoken...

"Greetings ladies and gentlemen of Gaia. I, am Atma. I am the Official Representative of the Society of the Shade. I hope you all will be willing to forgive the grave misconduct of my subordinates at the Ceremonial Ball. It would seem that I placed my trust into an individual who knew not the importance of self control and proper conduct. Elia Noah's personal guard saw to his removal from this group's image, and I can not thank him enough for his actions..."

Atma touched a hand through his brown hair, pulling it aside to show one of his green eyes more clearly before continuing.

"As you all know, The Order of Illumination has recently joined hands with The Foundation to better spread around their message of peace, acceptance, and Utopian beliefs. These beliefs, while indeed noble, stand in stark contrast to our beliefs, the beliefs of The Society of the Shade. The Order wishes to make Gaia a better place through magic and technology. But at what cost to those that enjoy their lives as they are? My fellow Gaians, I was born a mere human. I was not blessed with amazing magical or supernatural talents. While I did eventually learn to control some of the magical energies that wrap around this planet of ours, I did not once believe that magic and technology alone made anyone better than another."

Atma raised a hand as he spoke fluently, eloquently, almost as if he were an aristocrat. His hands emphasized each word and syllable as he continued, his eyes never leaving the camera. It was as if he was talking directly to the audience.

"The Order wants what they feel is best for Gaia. But Mankind was not meant to be perfect. We are as we are. And no organization shall preach of Utopian beliefs without us, The Shades, there to intervene. For generation upon generation, this conflict has gone on in the shadows. One group secretly trying to change the world, the other firmly standing in their way. This was the way of things, until The Order sought to bring a public face to the conflict. Changing the rules of battle calls for a changing of strategy..."

Atma moved closer to the camera, his green eyes staring intently into the lens as he continued to speak.

"And thus, I have willingly shed my cloak, and shown my face to you, the people, to give a public face to our Society. Many of you certainly have questions, and while I can not disclose my location for fear of being sought out by those that would seek to harm our movement, rest assured that I will be in the shade, seeking out those that would stand against the supposed perfection and foolish idealism of The Order. If you would stand against them, I shall seek you out..."

Atma then turned his back to the camera for the first time as he quickly returned his cloak upon his form before turning a final eye once more.

"Until we meet again, Gaia. Farewell."

"Keep your eye on the shadows, for we are watching, always."

As the broadcast ended, the newsroom was suddenly shown again, as the visage of a blank-faced cat-girl was left staring back at the audience...

Tournament Report: Round 1 Is Go!

[The familiar Gaia 7 News logo, a "G7," is shown on screen before a special "Heaven or Hell 2010" graphic is emblazoned across the screen. The familiar sweep down to the news desk is followed by a shot of a blond reporter and a young man sitting next to him with white hair, who seems to be sparkling.]

"Good evening, Gaia, this is Charles Stickly with Gaia Seven News, giving you a special update on the proceedings of today's matches. I have with me our new intern, Vamp... Pireson, who--" he was very quickly interrupted by the young man sitting next to him.

"Yeaharewedoneyet because there's somekillerwavesdown at Gambino beach and I'm tryingtogetsome of that brah thoseGambinochicks are somethin' else and they can't waittogettheirhands on me."

For a second or two Charles looked horrified before regaining his composure, though initially his teeth were clenched as he spoke. "We're on the air, Mr. Pireson." He turned back to the camera, but...

"Thisonetime I went with ScottandtherewasthisBarton chickrightwho was totallynotfromGambinobut she was smokin'hotanywaysand I tried togethernumber but she totallydissedmesaidshewasn't intothewhitehairtypes but it'sokaybecause therewas this chicknamed Sasha who wastotallydiggin'on me I guess she likesmytype and Itotallygotherdigits. "As I was saying,"

"Don'tleavemehanginbrah."

"the tournament is underway. From famous locales like The Weathers Foundation and Revolution Evolution, to fan favorites such as the clocktower and the Firebrand, Heaven or Hell's flair for the obscene has not faded from previous years. Our reporters are out in the field gathering information, and we will be providing as much news as possible about the ups, downs, ins, outs,"

"That'swhatshesai"

"high points and low points of this year's tournament. Please be warned that Heaven or Hell is a violent spectacle, and as such we will be showing graphic imagery. We will take special care to let all of our dutiful viewers know when we are about to report on the proceedings, so that those who are squeamish or those with young children may change the channel or leave the room.

"That being said, look here for all the news that's fit to report on. This is Charles Stickley, with Gaia Seven"

"DudeIjustgotitpeoplecallyouChap but yourlastname is Stickley, so it's likethey'recallingyou"

"... News."

8Supreme Jerk Commander

Whatever news the people watching Channel 7 though they were going to see was abruptly interrupted. Replacing the male newscaster with cheekbones like an underwear model and the female caster with AWESOME TITTIES, was a single helmeted figure.

It was horned, and crudely decorated to give it a sort of demonic appearance. The only hint at there actually being a face beneath it would be a pair of brown eyes, staring directly at the camera. His "studio" was the bridge of a starship, and the "Gaia News 7" logo had been replaced with an elaborately drawn 'C'. What the C stood for, if anything, was at this point unknown.

Also, his music was playing in the background.

"Welcome. We interrupt this newscast to bring you a special presentation... from me. I have found the media's coverage of Heaven or Hell rather boring and unimpressive. So, I reject their politically biased dribble and shall replace it with more balanced and objective views: My own."

It was time... for a recap of ROUND ONE!

9-Media- Channel 7 News

![](http://spuriw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pBXiRAJ5KknIjDWHiOIa1yrVlOjiln2COH4nx--GQb6wCJGzL023AQBfTvsqIlV21dgSDfBfzWFzZ4UuQstt-lY4rcQ39/quicksketchaliciablairstyle_lrg.png)It seemed that the sound to the Channel 7 News studio wasn't completely cut off, because angry yelling could be heard over the music.

"Oh jeez, not again."

"Should we all just go get a beer until this settles down?"

"No, I'm not gonna let this happen again!"

"But you were part of the problem last time - OW!"

"Give me that camera! Divert all power from the cloning tanks!"

A slightly distorted image replaced the Commander, followed by a camera that was held high up above a familiar reporter (use your imagination, people, I suck at perspective). "This is Alicia with Channel 7 news. Whoever you are, I demand you give us our signal back. It's not nice going around hijacking other people's news stations! Besides, our news coverage is equal and even. Not like the Box Network. Did you SEE what they wrote for the first round results? I don't think they even looked at the scores! How can Glacier get a 47? The numbers don't even go that high! It's like someone's pulling the strings behind the scenes.

"Now give us our news station back!"

10Supreme Jerk Commander

One of the crewmen looked worried as they started to receive some interference.

"Ensign, what is the meaning of this?"

"It would seem that the local broadcasting station wants their channel back."

"Is that so? In that case, alert gunnery to warm up the siege batteries and prepare for orbital bombardment. I shall see to it that their next transmission will be broadcast via satellite... FROM HELL!"

"Aye, sir!"

"Open communications with the Channel 7 Station."

"Aye sir!"

The viewscreen displayed a view most awesome of the news reporter's cleavage. The Commander approved, however briefly. It was time to get down to business.

"Employees of Channel 7 News, on behalf of the CIS Victory and her crew I Welcome you-" The news crew would be treated to the cloaked, helmeted man standing to his feet with his arms spread wide in a welcoming gesture.

"TO DIE!"

The welcome became a threat as he suddenly clenched his fist in front of him in a crushing motion and paused. He held this pose for an entire minute.

"Uhh..." the Ensign began in a whisper. "Sir?"

"Ensign, You'd better be here to tell me why they these fools aren't exploding."

"Sir, gunnery crew is on their lunch break."

The Commander's brown eyes narrowed to slits and he sat back in his seat.

"Very well, amplify jamming frequency, instead." It was a shame, too. He really wanted to rain death from the sky.

11-Media- Channel 7 News

Near the back of the studio, Charles Stickley was enjoying a cup of coffee. Next to him sat a young female intern, looking on with an exasperated expression. She tugged on the arm of Charles' coat. "Does this happen every year?"

Charles took another sip of his drink and looked back. "Considering the station has only been around for two years, and the exact same thing happened last year... yes."

"Does she... always get like this?"

"Well, last year she was helping take over the station, so... again, yes."

SLAM. Alicia put her fist down, scattering a few papers on the desk. "You think this is over, do you? You can't even blow us up! You, Mike. Amplify the signal. What? I don't know, just amplify it! You really expect me to know how those things run?"

She looked back towards the camera, which, though still slightly off-center, looked like it was on a prop or tripod of some kind.

"You, Alistor. Put the poll up. I don't care about the fourth wall, just do it!"

Alicia stared even harder at the camera, as if she was trying to see the man on the other side. "Information can be just as powerful as a warhead. This isn't over, you hear me?!

THIS ISN'T OVER--"

--bzzzk.

12Supreme Jerk Commander

The silence was beautiful.

"Jamming signal holding strong, sir. We're back on the air."

"Excellent." The commander clasped his hands together as he looked directly at the camera. "Sorry for the interruption, we were having a few technical issues that needed taking care of. Now let us go on to our next order of business: Heaven or Hell, round 1."

FIREBRAND TAVERN: SUPER SENTAI vs SHATTERED STEEL

"Let us start off with a bang. And by bang I mean complete and total a** beating. When you hear "BAR FIGHT", you think alcohol driven carnage! You expect an amalgamation of flying fists, chairs, and tables as combatants plow through the scene, leaving blood stains, broken bones, and unpaid tabs in their wake! Instead, we get clowns in spandex, freaky love bites, and first look at a prototype batch of cream soda with the ability to slice through sub-par bootlegged ceiling fixtures!"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

As his left hand pointed the water from his and Tsuki's soda would form into a ball, flying quickly toward the 200 lbs chandler a few feet over Canaan. The goal, to send the chandler down on to Canaan's head as he walked toward Gary, but with enough room for Gary to roll away, or avoid the chandler all together. That's right bitches, Mr.Green could control water.

Highlight Reel Wrote:

He shot the ball of cream soda up at the chain which was supporting the 200 pound object - somehow cutting it in half. With a ball of cream soda. Because obviously, ******** you.

"Your eyes do not deceive you. Gary of Super Sentai was momentarily saved as his teammate Tsuki attempts to drop a 200 lbs chandler (of questionable quality by the way) on Canaan of Shattered Steel with... projectile cream soda. As ridiculous as this appears, it is a mere runner up to the true gem of this battle! Sometime towards the conclusion of the 2nd match between Will of Super Sentai and Rhosyln of Shattered Steel-"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

Wait a second, s**t seemed kinda bonkers.

"I believe that scene is self explanatory. Needless to say, the fight ended in unanimous decision: Victory for Shattered Steel! Two fights, two knock outs. Well, actually it was one Knock Out-"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

"I'm going to go outside for a band aid and some more soda pop. I'm gonna shake it up and make Ross all sticky."

Red left the building.

"-one rage quit. Poor Gary could not be faulted. Much of the audience felt the same way. I know I did. And so, thanks to the efforts of Canaan and Rhosyln, Team Shattered Steel scores their first victory and blazes a path to the second round! Speaking of blazes-"

"For reasons yet known, a building constructed almost entirely of stone caught fire. More on that story following this segment."

FIREBRAND TAVERN: SUPER SENTAI vs SHATTERED STEEL

13-Media- Channel 7 News

"... won't... away with... !"

The screen started to flicker back to the newsroom, though it was hard to make out the audio and video. "Chap, get over... ... ... ... your help...!"

A male voice could be heard as well. "Alic... don't think... ... louder will... ... .. ... insane?!" Alicia's voice came back again, just as a new title card flashed across the screen.

Durem Clocktower

Team Awesome VS Team Never Knows Best

"THE FIGHT AT THE CLOCK... ... RUTAL, AS YOU... IN... ... MAGES."

Victory: Team Never Knows Best

"... n't keep the signal... damn it!"

14Supreme Jerk Commander

"Sir, their signal still appears to be getting through, albeit piecemeal." The Ensign stated, answering The Commander's question before he even spoke it.

"How? Aren't the jammers set to maximum denial!"

"Yes sir, but their signal has received a substantial boost since then! It's like they've cranked it up... to 11!"

The Commander slammed his fist into his console.

"IMPOSSIBLE!"

"On a positive note sir, their signal isn't very stable at such an extreme. We can still block them out for extended periods of time!"

"Well then- bring up the next bout!"

"Aye Sir! We're live in 3... 2... 1..."

Channel 7 viewers were once again treated to the helmed figure in a dress shirt.

"You'll have to excuse the slight interference. The locals are stubborn and futilely resist my dominance. They won't be a problem for much longer, fortunately. Now, on to the next round."

THE PATH: EIKOKU JUN'AI GUMI T-REX KATA PUNCH vs JORMUNGANDR!

The Commander stared in silence at the mile-long bullet scrolling across the screen baring the names of both teams.

"I'm not even going to attempt to pronounce this, myself. ENSIGN!"

"Sir!"

"Read aloud these team names. I dare not strain my glorious vocal chords attempting such."

"E...EGOKu...Joohn..Goo T-Rex Kata Punch versus.. Joeromunganadorf?" The young officer gave it his all, but his vocal skills just weren't enough.

"A valiant effort, Ensign!" The commander nodded with false praise. "But COMPLETE FAIL! For ease of understanding, I'll just refer to these two teams as Jerk Party 1 and Jerk Party 2."

"A Brilliant compromise, sir!"

"Indeed. Well, Jerk Party 1 and Jerk Party 2 face off in THE PATH! An arena... with no floor. Personally this is one of my favorites for I am a huge fan of watching idiots plummet into a black void for all eternity! Saddly, this did not happen. The opening fight was between Iron-Fist Scruffy beard of Jerk Party 1 and A very... very... angry woman from Jerk Part 2. Both took up positions on the center platform. Both were armed with melee weapons. Now, When I see two people walk up with bats and swords to a small, mobility limiting area I expect faces to be bashed in and limbs to be shed. Yet, in a single instant my blind optimism was dashed because-"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

"We're going to settle this like men. No strikers, and leave your weapons. I left my bat, don't you see?"

She motioned her head back towards the bridge where she left the bat.

Highlight Reel Wrote:

His wrist snapped, a sharp whistle sounded off as the blade cut the air and left Griff's hand, a direct snap, as if it were a throwing knife. Off in the distance, the blade stuck into one of the poles, lodged deeply. It was far enough away that going after it would be pretty impractical. And Griff was all about practicality.

"-these imbeciles ditched theirs. So instead we're treated to THIS!"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

She stretched and pulled her body closer, setting her face against the upper portion of the right side of his torso. Her mouth opened and she moved in more, closing down hard to try and catch a chunk of his flesh between her teeth.

Highlight Reel Wrote:

His fleshy hand? Sweetly brushing over the back of her neck with a smack, his arm wrapping around her neck, pushing her down harder into his chest. Sure, it only dug her teeth into him a little bit further. But now she's getting all jammed in there. Doesn't help that he leaned in close to her, whispering. From a distance, it almost looked like embrace after an argument.

"More biting, something that's starting to become a recurring theme. Fortunately, things picked up later on as Angry chick of Jerk Party 2 got her arm broken, and was thrown around by Iron-Fist Scruffy beard! But again, just when I got my hopes about this turning into an actual fight..."

Highlight Reel Wrote:

"You needed one too?"

She dropped her guard and relaxed once he pulled out his cigar. She went into her pocket and drew a slim plastic stick, and placed it to her lips and sucked at it. The tip of the electric cigarette burned with an orange glow as she took a long draw before bringing it back to her side between her fingers. Rachel blew the apple scented vapor from her mouth. Nicotine already made everything better.

Highlight Reel Wrote:

"While normally, I'd agree." Griff stated, flicking the cigar around once in his palm so that the tip was in front of his mouth, where he would promptly tear the end off with his teeth. His other hand was quite busy, being primed to explode and all. Another short spit of steam as Griff looked to that right arm, placing the tip of the cigar to the iron bars. A short inhale, and it was lit.

"They took a smoke break. In the middle of a fight. I- DAMMIT ENSIGN! Do we have any footage of actual combat!?"

"On it sir!"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

Griff got kicked in the softies.

"...."

"Sorry, sir. How's this one!"

Highlight Reel Wrote:

Griff would projectile puke at Rachel.

The Commander face palmed.

"Lets... Let's just skip to the next fight."
