NORTHERNLANDS - THE PIT

Here lies a hole; a considerably large one. It was as if some heavenly entity parted the clouds and punctured the earth with its divine might! Those who venture near will feel their very essence drained, their strength sapped, their resolve weakened, seemingly sucked into its the gaping maw. There has been much speculation over the hole’s depth, but those who went in to investigate have never returned. In fact, those who lingered too long in the area didn’t fare much better. Remains of vehicles, shelters, and research equipment lay scattered along its rim like so much rubbish. Some seemingly there for decades, while others were a tad more… recent. Yet, there were no corpses.

Terrain

General – Wasteland, rocks and death stretches for miles all directions, save for the huge hole that measures roughly a quarter mile in diameter. Absolute darkness greets those who peer over its lip. Strangely enough, the soft humming of engines lingers in the still air. A transport shuttle of some sort sits abandoned several feet from the hole. It’s rear entry hatch left ajar. Machine wreckage is scattered in close proximity. They appear to have once been some sort of humanoid fighting machines. The signs of a recent battle are apparent as there are scorch marks and spent shell casings nearby, as well as blood stains. Again, there are no bodies, only drag marks in the dirt- leading into the hole.

Weapons - Broken bits of long dead machines. However, the shuttle itself has two side-mounted energy turrets.

Natural Element Resource None.

Bonus Effects -Warriors fighting in this area will begin to feel the

draining effects of the Dead Lands, sapping away their strength at a rate

higher than normal, stunting combat performance, and extending the

resting and healing times one might normally have...

Extra Note: The transport shuttle is still active. It measures about 70 feet long and can carry a team of 10-15 people. Turrets stick out on either side of the vehicle, allowing one person to cover each side in a 180 degree arc. The ship is pretty well armored, able to withstand a nice amount of punishment before going down. Mounted on a pair of short “wings” are huge, engines capable of altering their thrust vector to give the vehicle roughly the control of a helicopter. Just picture this:

-but with a turret sticking out of either side. Those taking the controls will find piloting the thing surprisingly simple, as it has built-in safeguards to prevent things like over-correction, engine stalling, and pretty much anything outside of intentionally slamming it into the ground.

Special Rules Wrote:

This encounter will be separated into multiple phases. Each phase will present a scenario for you and your team to accomplish. At the end of each scenario, your team will be graded by myself and given a completion rank. These ranks will be revealed during the Final Phase. Where things progress from there will depend entirely upon how well you ranked on the other 3 phases. In general, the ranking criteria will be creativity, timeliness, and teamwork with bonuses awarded for miscellaneous feats (Read: s**t I thought was cool/hilarious). For some scenarios, I will not necessarily have to be present and will do little outside of tossing random events at you and presenting situation reports (during these instances, feel free to post without me until the time limit is met). GOOD LUCK smilies/icon_wink.gif

2Supreme Jerk Commander

Meanwhile... aboard the CIS Victory.

"Target has been intercepted, sir."

"Excellent. Call back the interceptor drone."

"Aye sir!"

"I find it most puzzling that Noah would send his puppets way the hell out here. Latent was strange enough, but at least there was a city there. Here, what possibly could one hope to gain from holding matches-" The Commander's eyes narrowed as he reached a startling revelation "Of course! How could I have been so blind! ENSIGN!"

This was one time the officer did not appear at The Commander's side. Instead, his face was displayed upon the viewscreen as he was as of now, piloting a shuttle to the surface.

"Sir?"

"I have a new task for you."

"Aye sir."

"When you and your team have reached the objective, I need you to search the remains of that helicopter for any survivors."

"Aye sir. What shall we do if we find any?"

"If it's an HoH participant, then bring them here."

"The entire team, sir?"

"No, Ensign. Only one will be needed."

"Aye, sir!"

3The Crossed Fox

It wouldn't be long now...

Team Shattered Steel had been given a chance that many did not forsee. Kain, Rhoslyn, Canaan and Yasuo had been able to prove themselves twice over now that they were the better team; Team Super Sentai's defeat, and the shocking defeat of Team Guardians. Yasuo, the team Shinobi and second-in-command, had not even dreamed of coming this far in Heaven or Hell. He was simply put here on a mission to represent his village in the prestigious tournament - to gain a potential foothold for people of his own kind, for acceptance into society or otherwise. Could he believe where he had ended up? Absolutely not! But did he feel like he had been given a chance to do something other than represent? Yes.

Earlier, the team had been picked up on the roof of the Crimson Hawk. There was no telling where this helicopter transport was going to take them - hopefully someplace advantageous or good looking - or whatever may happen. All he knew was that there was a deep feeling of worry in his gut, and that he would be on edge for the entire trip. Yasuo couldn't stand flying, honestly, but if it was the only way to get to where they needed to go then it would have to be accepted. His teammates might notice that the shinobi would be abnormally quiet along the trip, an act commonly associated with nervousness or deep thought, each of which being the case.

It wasn't the helicopter had taken them over some seriously rocky terrain that Yasuo began to finally relax. The ground below was the first relaxing feeling he had aboard the entire flight, and a giant sigh of relief would be had from the Iwa-nin. It was a great reminder of home for him, the stone mountains of the Land of Earth quickly popping into his head. At the same time, he couldn't help but have the adverse feeling accompany his calm.

"I miss home," he would finally say. His first words for the entire trip - and unfortunately his last.

Before anyone could call him on that, a bright silver object streaked past his window. Even with his trained sights it was nigh impossible to make out what that object had been, but that bad feeling in his gut suddenly rummaged about once more. Without a second thought, Yasuo would grab hold of something out of instinct and hope that it wasn't what he thought it was.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

"s**t..."

It was the only thing on his mind now. And his second thought?

"Everybody hang on!!!"

"st, st, s**t!" The word kept playing in his head, a panicking broken record if one could call it anything. Gravity took over now as the violent shakes of the cabin became worse and worse. Smoke filled the cabin and altimeter alarms wailed, the red emergency lights flashing like crazy. Yasuo clenched his eyes tightly, giving off a final thought for himself and his village. "Survive! We have to survive!" And it was then... that things began to make a little more sense.

"We're going down! Mayday! Mayday! We're goi-" Silence. Static. Nothing.

"Noah..."

CRRRAAAASH!!!

CRACK!!!!

CRUNCH!!!

Blackness and pain. It was all that was left for awhile, an undetermined amount of time actually. Yasuo would wake up just outside of the helicopter; dazed, confused, and going through a pain he had not felt in his life. Full bodily pain, with nothing but bright lights and sounds of a broken rear rotor spinning around on the downed chopper. He had no idea how the team was, nor would he be able to find out it seemed as the sound of first a high powered jet engine, shortly followed by some loud footsteps would approach the shinobi.

"Wha-...who... who is that?" mumbled the shinobi. "Wh-... what happened?" He struggled to get his words out, each seeming to choke him half way through. The metallic taste of blood was in his mouth, furthering speculation of injury for himself. Worst of all, he was half equipped. If this was the opposing team, they'd have the advantage over everyone right now...

4C-Z-N

Sitting near the rear end of the transport helicopter was the captain of Shattered Steel. Much like Yasuo, he was silent, arms crossed and his head tilted down like he were contemplating all that had happened. In reality he was having a mental conversation, one that none of his teammates, save for Ross, would be able to hear.

//"You have certainly proven your resilience, whelp. Here I believed that you and your teammates would have been knocked out of the tournament by this point."//

"We're stronger than you think."

//"Indeed."//

After all this time with Tygris, Canaan had still yet to figure out how the dragon spirits mind ticked. Often he was a nuisance, his words spirit breaking and demotivating. Yet other times, such as when Canaan got into a bind, Tygris offered advice and support that ended up seeing the warrior through his trials. The power that came with having Tygris around had also greatly benefited Canaan. He was both a blessing and a curse.

The helicopter jumped a few times from turbulence in the air but Canaan didn't seem to show any sign of nervousness. Flying had slowly become second nature to him - he had also plotted escape plans should there be any sort of trouble with the aircraft. Punching through the top or sides of the aircraft to escape, busting out the front window, things that seemed like they would work in theory. Of course Canaan hadn't included the shock factor and the possibly that he might hesitate or not be able to think.

A quick glance out the window next to him didn't provide much information about where they were going to be fighting this other team. All there seemed to be was dark brown and blackened wasteland beneath them with scattered gray splotches and smoke. Nothing more unusual than the rest of the rest of the places they had fought, except for the fact that it appeared to be devoid of life. Deep down inside though, Canaan was starting to become a little bit suspicious. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he could feel his heart begin to race, almost like a sixth sense that something was about to happen and break up all the silence.

Quote:

Even with his trained sights it was nigh impossible to make out what that object had been, but that bad feeling in his gut suddenly rummaged about once more. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

"s**t..."

It was the only thing on his mind now. And his second thought?

"Everybody hang on!!

Canaan hadn't even seen the object, all he saw was Yasuo out of the corner of his eye. He opened his mouth to say something, but that's when the craft shook violently from an impact. The unthinkable had taken place, Canaan had thought he was just getting himself hyped up over a little bit of paranoia, but he had actually been right. Yelling and screaming profanity seemed like the most logical thing to do at the moment in order to brace for everything that would come next - maybe provide him some kind of comfort. An instinctive reaction to the current OH SHI- circumstances.

Instead he gripped tightly onto his seat and pressed his back as hard as he could against the sidewall of the aircraft. His stomach twisted into knots as it began to spin out of control and descend towards the barren earth below - vision was blurry, thoughts were scrambled, only the mental image of his wife's face was in Canaan's mind.

Survive.

Survive.

Yasuo's thoughts became Canaan's.

CRRRRAAAASSH

Darkness and silence. No sensations.

Death?

The sound of crunching metal and hot flame woke Canaan up. Eyes wide open and his body sore, he looked up - his vision was still blurry. His only sensations were how much he hurt and how damn annoying that screeching sound in his ears was. Tygris was totally silent, he would have actually preferred the dragons voice over this.

When his eyes finally focused, Canaan realized that he was laying in a pile of rubble with a piece of steel on top of him. Gripping it with both hands he gave it a hard shove off to the side and sat up quickly like his body had just been freed of much of gravities hold. There was nothing to see at a first glance, barren wasteland, wreckage off in the distance. The smell of burning rubber and dust filled his nostrils as he took in a breath.

His teammates had likely been scattered by the crash, he would need to join up with them quickly in order to figure out some kind of plan. They had been attacked on the way to their match - no doubt an outside organization was trying to interfere with the tournament. A week prior to their advancement, Canaan had spoken to Ross about what they would do if just such a situation like this occurred; that they would kill anybody that tried to ******** with them.

Maybe that was too irrational of a thought though.

Dusting himself off, Canaan walked around towards the cockpit to see if the pilots had survived and if there was any useful information they could provide. Unfortunately, the former appeared to be incorrect. What was left of them were slumped over their controls, eyes open in an eternal stare and mouths hanging open. Canaan shook his head and looked away, tragic that two lives had been needlessly sacrificed just to take Shattered Steel out.

//"Whelp... there is.... something... odd about this place."//

Tygris mental voice was unusually weak. A pale blue glow began to emit from the jewel that Canaan was wearing on his neck. It was as though the magical energy within was being drained. After a minute or so Canaan began to feel an uneasiness as well.

Great.

Should have gone back to the island.

5Dragosani Kain

Mimicking the silence of his two companies, Kain's reddened and cracked features were directed outside of the 'copters port, viewing the passing ground and whir of the shadows casted by the blades keeping the vessel airborne. His face was stricken with apathy, realising that HoH was the only worthwhile telling thing he'd been doing since its inception, at least, post its inaugural year. Unlike Yasuo and Canaan, he had nothing to prove, no direction or purpose to his actions other than to play with the idea of killing his opponents in the ring; combating his infernal instincts as well as the very real danger he'd be wrestling.

""I miss home"

He turned his head to regard the shinobi, no doubt, it was meant to be a personal comment and, perhaps, was thought that it couldn't be heard, but Kain picked it up. When you mostly keep to yourself you learn about others, an observer of sorts, always on the eavesdrop or wary of body language, never know what detail could betray personalities.

Home.

The nomadic man would've further reflected on the implications the word held for him, or used to, if it weren't for the---------------

BWEEEEEEE BWWWWEEEEE BWEEEEe---"MAYDAY,GOING DOWN--HoH TRANSPORT---DAHH-s**t!!" the pilot and co-pilot both sounding their mayday.

The voices weren't very reassuring of their situation and Kain braced himself in his seat in the corner. A good thing too, the calls were cut short with a deafening crash of collapsing steel, dust, debris and anything else slapped the Devil in the face, filling his nostrils, agitating his cracked and scarred face before all went dark.

Assassins? Grudging competitors (Heh)? ----Noah...had to be. No crazy sonuvabitch would readily endanger the competitors unless their name were Eliah Noah. Eliminator Round...and either this was a test in itself: survive the crash, or a greatly misguided joke.

Kain crawled out of heap, spitting out mouthfuls of dirt, cursing all the while. He noticed several abrasions on various places on his body, his arms and shoulders mostly, the left side of his face was doused with blood. Looked even worse since the wounds inflicted by the white mage scarred his flesh, giving him a more battered appearance than what was actually caused. Brushing himself off from both dust and wreckage he found that Yasuo and Canaan seemed to be alright..

"Yas' see if you can find Ross-Canaan and I will keep watch for whatever it was that took us down." He was in a frenzy, taking on march, examining the damage and readying his energies in case whatever it was that took them down came back. When he tried, it was meager, like something was sapping whatever he tried to conjure. He wasn't wrong, this was an eliminator round. His first, but knew what to expect.

You better get ready now, Canaan. "You wanted some prestige, Captain? Now will be your chance to REALLY earn some."

6The Black Sand Mule

Rhoslyn frowned as she stared out the window, idly tapping her briefcase. She didn't feel that this was a good idea from the minute they'd gotten on the chopper, and had made sure to be wearing good, solid shoes. ******** heels or boots, some good ol' tennis shoes would do the trick. Anyway, as they flew, Rhoslyn kept silent as well, wondering what was gonna go down. If anything, at least.

Sure was pretty outside. Yas started to say something, and Rhoslyn turned to look at him. It was about that time she spied something flying, and before she could so much as shout out a warning... BOOM. For the remainder of the flight, Rhoslyn gripped the seat hard and swore over and over. How unladylike of her. But seriously... going down in a chopper warranted cursing.

During the few seconds of not!flying, Rhoslyn thought of Kitty. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to see her lover in pain. Oh man... if only he could marry her. She. He-she... ****** gender pronouns. Raging at English and choppers and PLOT, screaming bloody ****** murder at the top of her lungs, the Sidhe was surprised to find they'd landed fine. Her forehead hurt from rebounding off the side of the chopper, but it was just a bruise.

"Someone's gonna die... hopefully." She remained in the wrecked chopper for a few seconds, seething in rage, when Kain's voice echoed out. "JUST A SECOND, ******** EVERYTHING!"

Grr. She paused only to liberate a corpse from the front, then hopped out of the wreck, dragging the pilot's body around by the neck. Well... ******** everything, they were in a freaking graveyard of technojunk and due for Elimination.

"Any broken bones?"

7Supreme Jerk Commander

Three black specks crested the horizon, invading the air with the drone of powerful turbine engines. Three shuttles, each bearing emblems not belonging to any nation native to Gaia, flew in a staggered formation as they approached their current objective: The Pit.

Leaning out the side hatch of the lead shuttle was none other than the Ensign. He wore a bright smile and his eyes burned with passion… FOR ADVENTURE! His orders were simple: investigate the disappearance of Alpha Team, and bring back one of the surviving HoH participants suspected to be onboard that chopper. Yes, his orders were simple, but what of their motivations? The Commander had left them largely in the dark, divulging only tidbits of has grand scheme. His mission report was vague, just stating that they were here searching for something. Exactly what it was and its significance remained a mystery. A mystery that lead him here, to this festering rock of supernatural lunacy!

How the Ensign hated this world. He hated the sounds, he hated the smells, he hated the sights, and he especially hated the people.

“Movement up ahead!” called one of the pilots. His team consisted primarily of Combat Drones. They were mass produced, single-minded minions that served mainly to bolster the ranks while those with actual thinking brains could tend to more substantial tasks, like piloting the shuttles! 30 such Drones were distributed amongst the three aircraft, each one standing 6’ and weighing roughly 200lbs. They carried the most basic of weaponry: Metal fists, extendable blades, stun guns, and wrist-mounted lasers. They were versatile, able to be reconfigured for a multitude of scenarios. For example, the drones currently under the Ensign’s command sported Jet-packs.

As a matter of fact, so did he!

He brought up his binoculars and scanned the smoke plume a few miles away. There, he spotted Shattered Steel emerging from the wreckage. They all seemed well and able bodied, considering the ordeal they had just experienced. The man recalled his orders; he was to bring back only one.

“Rodger that, Lieutenant. Bring us in low for a pass. We’ve got to be quick! There’s no telling what these freaks are capable of.”

“Yessir.”

“Alright, Drones. Initiate Attack Protocol Beta, RoE: Passive.” The Ensign spoke briefly into his radio, and the machines responded with a flash of their single, glowing optic unit.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Shattered Steel had by now noticed the three shuttles approaching them at an extreme low altitude (only a couple hundred feet). If any doubts lingered about whether the new arrivals were friend or foe, they’d be put to rest as

each of the shuttles launched a pair of canisters from their now opened hatches.

The canisters bounced between the four fighters, hissing loudly as they released their payload. It was a chemical similar to Tear Gas, GAIA STRENGTH! People on this planet probably snorted the vanilla stuff like a narcotics. Smoke peppered the target site, forming a thick. white cloud that engulfed everything in a 100-foot radius. Not only would it be difficult to see, but difficult to breath! To top it all off, the passive effects of the Dead Plains served to dampen their supernatural resistances, further increasing the effectiveness of the grenades. But this was just a lucky coincidence.

Up above, the Ensign grinned. His binoculars had thermal view and he had slipped on a gas mask. He was scanning the fighters below for a candidate worthy of bringing back to The Commander. It didn’t take long.

Rhoslyn Vernal Wrote:

"Any broken bones?"

“Her… GO!”

In pairs the drones exited the shuttles, their jet-packs firing briefly to shorten their trip. Obviously, the smog had no effect on them. They were machines.

Miss Rhoslyn would find herself having a close encounter as four Drones approached her from all sides, hopefully while she was still disoriented. Two grabbed at her arms, one snuck up from behind, aiming to smack her one in the back with a metal fist, which at this time, released a burst of electricity on par with a stun gun (the drones were well insulated and their internals were able to withstand these levels of electricity). The Drone approaching from the front just threw a normal punch to the face with hopes of KOing the woman.

If successful, they’d proceed to tie her up.

Now what of the other 26 drones? Well, they’d be getting in the way. Some would form barriers between Rhosyln and her teammates, others would form a loose circle around all four fighters, their wrist mounted lasers charged and ready. Moments later the Ensign ordered the shuttles in closer, the downwash from their engines blasting away the smoke from the grenades and revealing the entirety of the ******** scenario to the possibly confused Shattered Steel.

“Hello there!”

He’d yell, lowering his binoculars. He kept his mask on for the time being.

“Sorry to have to run into you all like this, but my boss requests an audience with one of your teammates. And since this one is the easiest on the eyes, she’s coming with us. I hope you don’t mind! Then again, it’s not as if it matters.”

8C-Z-N

A feeling of relief washed over Canaan when he rounded a corner and caught sight of Kain, Yasuo and Rhoslyn. Everyone except Kain seemed to have survived the crash perfectly intact, little more than a few bumps and bruises. If any group could survive a crash like this it was a team of metahumans.

Canaan approached Kain with a grin on his face, lightly tapping the devil on the shoulder before walking around to his right side and glancing out over the field. For most part all seemed to be clear, no sign of the person or thing that had brought down their helicopter.

Dragosani Kain Wrote:

"Yas' see if you can find Ross-Canaan and I will keep watch for whatever it was that took us down."

Kain was right on the money with his words, Yasuo seemed to be the perfect scout type. His senses were sharp and honed, he could spot a threat or something out of the ordinary long before the rest of the group realized that anything was on them. Surprisingly, they were not omniscience, despite all their other fighting abilities and powers. As Yasuo presumably went about his duty, Canaan turned to walk towards Ross.

Then something strange caught his attention.

Ships Wrote:

"What the hell?" were the first words out of Canaan's mouth. Maybe it was a rescue party that was coming to help them out? It was awfully fast for it to be a group of helpful authorities, the nearest town that Canaan had seen was literally a hundred miles away. All his suspicions as to who they were and if they were friendly were laid to rest when they started shooting canisters from open hatches like torpedo!

The canisters released thick plumes of white choking fog as soon as they hit the ground. As one of the cans came tumbling towards Canaan, he winded up and gave it a massive kick to knock it as far away from him as possible, screaming the first battlecry that came to mind!

The canister went soaring off into the distance, doing absolutely nothing to help the growing BAD END situation that was closing in around them. Every other canister had gone off successfully, unless some of his other teammates managed to follow their captains example and knock them away. Unfortunately for Canaan, his kick ended up taking a bit more out of him than he expected, like he were wearing a lead boot or had a concrete foot.

"Damn, that's not... good.."

What to do!? What to do!?

Canaan's eyes watered and his lungs began to burn from the lack of fresh oxygen, to make matters worse it felt like his energy was being drained out of him. Just what the hell was going on here?! Had they been lured out here and caught in a trap? It seemed far too convenient to have this many odds stacked against them right off the home-plate. Canaan's frantic thoughts were broken up by the sound of many metallic feet crunching over rocks and old iron. A few brief glimpses through the thick white smog revealed synthetic humanoids, aka, ******** ROBOTS. Right, today was just getting better and better.

"Crap, they're closing in on Ross..."

Canaan wanted to sprint into the physical barrier of them and save his teammate. Realistically, the odds that he wouldn't end up really regretting something that poorly thought out were high. Instead he managed a half charge before falling to a knee, one eye opened watching with horror and his hands cupped over his mouth in a vain attempt to filter in some fresh air with just his fingers, or limit his breathing in of the smog, whichever happened to work best for the situation.

Ensign ******** Wrote:

The rush of the enemies gliders engines washed dust and partial amounts of fresh air around Canaan. He took a good breath, but not a big one, didn't want the walls of his lungs to be coated in fine pieces of metallic debris after all. He stood up and stared directly at the guy with balls obviously bigger than the empire state building for still being there and addressing them after blatantly assaulting them. Unlike most, Canaan's anger was a pit of freezing cold hell, rather than burning fiery passion.

That glance was being poured right into the Ensign, whether or not he noticed it.

Canaan was so focused onto the things he was about to do to this guy that he hardly noticed them taking off. Running after them would have been the frantic, illogical solution to the problem, but enough dumb things had been done here today - being caught so wide open like this was inexcusable - Canaan would have no more of this.

"DAMMIT DAAAAAAASH WE'RE GOING TO GET YOU FOR THIS!!"

Those were the only words that the Captain of Shattered Steel could muster. In the back of his mind, Tygris nudged him to take another look around and be absolutely on his guard just encase there were other surprises waiting for them. Taking Ross might have been the biggest mistake that these guys ever made, if not their last one. If he didn't escape on his own, Ross' own daughters and the Raven Knights would hunt them down to the ends of the planet and slaughter them.

Turning to what remained of his team, Canaan issued an order...

"Guys... get together and lets make a plan. s**t just got real."

9The Black Sand Mule

This ****** reeked of a trap. Rhoslyn could feel her grip over her glamour fading ever-so-slightly as she sucked down the dirty, gritty air in a few quick gasps. Remember, this is Elimination... no POOF'ing away, no transition into a [Sluagh](http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EldritchAbomination).. yet. She coulda been wrong, after all, and a rogue Illy or Shady coulda done some hacker st. Wait and tell. She dropped the corpse.

Hm... drone of engines. Dots in the horizon coming in fast. No. FAST.

Quote: "What the hell?" were the first words out of Canaan's mouth.

"IT'S A FUKKEN TRAAAAAAAAAAAAP!"

Women's intuition, maybe. Or just that when one is in a chopper crash when alone through most of the flight, shot down by a blur, and SCIENCE bears down on you, it is a safe bet to assume that they're enemies. Things opened on the ship, some odd hissy-thing came down - NO. ********. THAT. Didn't see the things closing, either...

She snarled and focused her telekinesis on all six of the objects, one by one. They had a few seconds before the whatever-the-hell-it-was could drop all the way, and a few good, determined TK-shoves in midair sent one of those canisters right on track for the giant pit of doom and kinda scattered the remaining five a little more. For some reason... nngh, she felt kinda drained.

DROPKICK

Rhoslyn exhaled hard as the gas began to vent, then took a big, long breath in and extended her middle finger to the heavens, refocusing her TK to swing back and forth in front of her eyes. Once again, she was unsure if this would affect her, but part of the spell keeping her back had made her rather... attached to breathing. Take no chances. Get low. Get away from the gas - that shuttle thing. Maybe.

She extended one leg, and sprinted off as - ******. Robots. Shoulda gotten low... not one to assume these were trained medics, Rhoslyn ducked and dove off forward to her right as felt four things at once. First off was her shirt-sleeve being torn right off, as well as a wicked pinch at her shoulder. The third was a feeling of extreme irritation, and the fourth was her hair raising like a **** and little static shocks playing off her head. Extreme note to self: run like a b*h.

She rolled and came to her feet, the carbon-plus blade in her right with a thin little layer of blood on the edge held like an icepick, and her case o' pain in her left, facing the robots. Her back was turned to that shuttle. This was gonna suck. Her skin felt blistered, the cut on her leg burned, and she sucked in more air with a desperate gulp, throat tensing up and legs getting sore. Huh... why wasn't the gas-

She kept an eye on the robots and readied herself for combat, heart pounding as blood trickled up through the air to coat the blade, magic shifting and distorting the light reflected off of it. Her brain idly calculated the odds - no, she couldn't take all of them in straight-up melee. Take one out, run to the shuttle. Maybe find a door or weapons or SOMETHING. Her team would have her back.

10Dragosani Kain

Kain swiped at the quick dispersing gas with meager attempts, it was too quick to be shooed away. It at least gave him some time to see that there were things coming in and fast, the stinging in his eyes forced them to water and blur his vision though he held strong to see the drones moving towards Ross.

Goddamit, not even time to grab an after crash smoke...

The jet-packing four would be sailing in as the Devil would be doling out a launch of fireballs, from both of his clenched fists baseball sized balls of fire would be tossed towards the waylayers already on Ross. His compromised focus would have one fire ball hit the dirt but the other would be hit a drone's shoulder. The main properties of these fireballs were their explosions of force rather than actual flamage, where the one upturned a mess of sand the other would send a drone crashing into an adjacent one. Not as powerful as he wanted or expected, but the pit was going to start making things difficult if he had to use his abilities again.

Regardless of his effectiveness, the damaging distractions were what they were; a means to buy them time.---"Guys, rally up-hack-

Bad move.

An earth shattering roar ripped through the air, sounding off at ear-irritating decibels! It sounded simply inhuman; screams from a godless creature twisted enough to make even a certain member of Al Azif smile in appreciation. Too long had it been dormant. Too long had it been since the creature feasted upon the essence of actual living beings. That is, until recently. Foolish researchers ventured too near, threatening the sanctity of the temple in which it guarded and offering themselves as an appetizer. Now, more tasty morsels were causing a ruckus, signaling to the creature that the main course had finally arrived.

THOOM!

One-

THOOM THOOM

No, Two! Three!

THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM!

Eight massive legs emerged from the pit, dragging the rest of its grotesque form out with it! Multiple eyes scanned anxiously in each direction as if the creature was having problems deciding who it wanted to devour first. Razor sharp mandibles oozed with noxious ichors, burning the soil where it landed. Heavy carapace covered its body like armor, making the creature neigh impervious to the weapons that the combat drones feebly brought against it.

Just when the Ensign, his crew, and the HoH participants suspected things could get no worse- they emerged from the depths. Dozens of them! Like their gargantuan parent, the hatchlings (who were about the size of a small dog) too had been starving for a meal. And like their parent, they would not be denied. A dozen or so of the drones turned their attention to new arrivals, bringing their weapons forward and forming a quick firing line. They were able to keep some of the spiders at bay, but not for long.

Yet amongst the chaos, amongst the panic, the young Ensign kept his cool. Running a hand through his golden hair, a confident smirk cascaded across his face (though it couldn't really be seen beneath his mask. He was not perturbed in the very least.

“Don’t worry.” He reassured his few living team members. “I got this.”

FOOSH!

The turbines of his jet-pack roared to life, carrying him from his elevated position on board the shuttle. He landed with a heavy thud, his boots digging into the soil as his legs recoiled to absorb the landing. He stood before the incoming tide of subterranean beast-spiders, fearless! His hands reached to his side, gripping the shaft of his staff and extended it to its full combat length of 6 feet. Surely he wasn’t about to take on the beast and its head on?

“VICTORY, this is ground team Epsilon.”

Of course not.

“Requesting Arial support at my coordinates."

He had backup.

With a fancy twirl his staff, he retracted it and returned it to the holster at his side. One would wonder why he even drew the weapon in the first place. The answer: A man couldn’t call themselves a warrior if they didn’t look epic while performing a summon spell.

Code: Ensign->Action->Summon->CIS VICTORY

Tearing through the cloud cover was the CIS VICTORY, its silvery hull shining with divine magnificence! It did not matter that the ship was still several miles away from where the action was. Its guns were mighty, and its range was great!

CLANK CLANK!

Dual cannons located on the foremost section of the ship shifted into position, using the targeting information provided by the ground forces. The air was filled with the sounds of the energy coils charging as they drew in energy from the ship’s reactors. Particles of blue green light danced before the nozzles of the weapons, dancing like fireflies on a summer night. Only they were not fireflies, they were ions… very angry ones.

On the bridge…

“Commander, target has been acquired and siege Batteries are powered up to 100%.”

“Excellent. Await my command.“

Back on the ground, Shattered Steel would notice a crudely constructed, spherical robot soaring up to them. It’s huge, red ocular piece bounced its focus between each and every one of its members, even the one who was currently under assault by the combat drones. Once confirming their identity, a small arm extended from the top of the floating machine, bending towards the fighters and projecting a 3'x 6' rectangular image before them all.

It was the picture of a helmeted figure wearing a heavy cloak and sitting in a command chair of sorts. No facial features could be seen beneath the blackness of his helm, only a pair of brown eyes. In a raspy metallic voice, he spoke to them.

“Greetings, fighters of Shattered Steel!” He paused for a brief moment and shifted his gaze. “And horrid spider-thing. On behalf of the Victory and her crew, I’d like to welcome you.” A dramatic pause followed.

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

“TO DIE!!!!!!!”

There it is.

“Open fire.”

Like the Star of Bethlehem, a bluish-green light pierced the sky, causing reality to warp around it. The Ensign knew what was up and had already activated his jet-pack, along with the rest of his robot minions. Well, save for a certain few who were still occupied with an important task.

Yes, the drones remained in pursuit of Rhosyln, although Kain's efforts had decommissioned a few of them. Still, they had their orders: "Apprehend the woman and return her to the ship", and they would not relent. Only this time, there were more of them. 10 would now descended upon her from every direction, wielding metallic limbs and stun guns. The sneak attack having failed, the next logical thing to do would be to escalate their efforts. They'd continue their attempt at capture, at least for a few more seconds. If they succeeded, they'd tie her up and fly towards one of the awaiting shuttles, conscious or not. Hell, it didn't matter if they succeeded in restraining her! Barring complete destruction, they WOULD lift her off the ground and carry her towards one of the awaiting shuttles. Why? Because it was time to GTFO! If the rest of Shattered Steel didn’t want to be eliminated from existence, they’d also do the same.

As if to give them a not so subtle hint, the floating orb-bot would be projecting a giant a** holographic arrow towards the still idle shuttle, along with a counting-down timer, which as of now read:

Code: ETA TO OWNAGE : 35.31 seconds

Yeah, that wasn't going to be a problem right now. The shinobi was finally able to get himself up off of the ground, dusted off and stretched. His injuries were superficial ones, nothing to worry about at all in the long run of things - they just hurt like a b***h. "No problem, Kain..." he'd reply, looking around for the woman/man/thing in the area of the helicopter wreckage. When one of the pilots suddenly disappeared from view in the already cracked windshield, he assumed it to be her giving the dead a more honourable laying place. She emerged with the pilot ove her shoulders, confirming his thought on this. She was fine.

FWOOM!

FWOOM!

FWOOM!

Canisters flew up high from the approaching ships, instantly signifying that these guys weren't as friendly as one would've liked them to be. The shinobi's training kicked in now, instantly going to one knee and taking cover until the canisters hit the ground.

POOF!!!

The sizzle of the smoke canisters let out its white conjuration, which led Yasuo to spit into his facemask. He needed to breath and keep himself hidden, if he was going to be able to keep a low profile if these things approached. Unfortunatley for the rest of the team, this meant he would be out of sight for a little while - but under his guard no less. The smoke irritated his eyes a bit, but it wasn't anything he hadn't dealt with before... well... sort of. Tear Gas had pretty much the same effect on everybody, it was just that he found the constitution to be able to resist its effects for awhile.

"Jeeze this stuff is strong," the shinobi began to realize. His eyes tears up more so than normal - this stuff definitely wasn't like the chili powder from home. It was different, military grade stuff. Ugh... "I gotta get out of this mess. I.... I... what's going on?" He felt his strength diminishing now, the effects of the land noticable to its extent. It was so gradual that he hadn't payed any attention to it before, but it was now becoming a problem. "Gas and a drain. Greaaaaaat." As the sound of jetpacks and machinery became a more common sound now, the shinobi would let his enhanced strength technique activate. It wasn't a good idea, but he needed to keep on the defensive side of things right now, and if that meant a little more of a drain, well then to hell with everything else.

The gas began to clear as the drone of another engine pierced through the air. Soon after, these words...

Ensign Ricky Wrote:

The gas hadn't blown from the shinobi's position yet, but his eyes certainly weren't liking the prolonged exposure to the gas. He shut them now, not seeing any more of a reason to allow them to endure anything else. Tear welled in the corners of his eyes, clearing them a bit as time passed. His hearing took over now, and as demonstrated with the eavesdrop on the Tenkai v. Glacier conversation back in Latent, it served as one of his more useful skills.

To his left, machines, four or five of them. They were going after Rhoslyn, who seemed to be suffering just as much as the rest of the team (except Kain, probably) but was ready to put up a hell of a fight. To his front, many more of the machines, at least a couple dozen, with the whine's of their propulsion systems aiding them none against this shinobi.

VROOOOM!!!

VROOOOM!!!

Two of them flew past Yasuo with great speed. A third one parked itself not too far away from his position. They lined up until the group was successfully cut off from their gender confused/challenged teammate. This guy really knew what he was doing.

"Dammit, CANAAN! She needs help!" He yelled, leaping from the gas cloud with immense force and with the strength enabling him to do so. Yasuo was able to successfully jump from the gas clouds and get some fresh air, which he spared none of it in his time above. Through his hazy and watery glance, he caught the slightest image of that jetpacked fool in the distance. That guy wasn't going to be a happy camper in a few minutes, because his precious machines were going to be torn to bits in a few moments time.

THOOM!

THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM THOOM!

A giant a** spider now emerged from the pit several yards away. The shinobi would give into his urges, just this once...

"THIS s**t JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!"

He couldn't hold back the enraging feeling that, well hey, we might die here. Adrenaline pumped into his system, nulling the feeling of weakness for a moment now. The little ones soon popped up behind it, furthering the shinobi's resolve to just stab himself. There wasn't a thing in the world that could stop that arachnid, not unless there was some sort of laser that shot from the heavens above to wipe clean the slate of such an evil creature.

Speak of the freakin' devil. Blue light flooded the area as a ball of it formed in the sky above, and suddenly the little spiders that had just emerged went back into the hole, while Big Momma stayed to enjoy the light show. This gave everybody the time they needed to come up with a quick little plan, and that was when the little robot with the red eye showed up to point them in the right direction. Oh, yes, and prior to that The "Commander" of this operation had greeted them with death. It seemed everything was in place now.

A large blue arrow with a holographic timer then beamed out of the top shortly thereafter, which pointed to a somehow running and intact armed transport. Yasuo wasn't one to jump to thing, but since the planet was seemingly coming apart beneath his very feet, it seemed like a good idea.

And then she'd POOF home, have a nice drink and a nice smoke, and then ****** his lover until the sun went up and sleep the rest of the day away.

But nooooooo, here she was, being chased by-

...

...

really?

Rhoslyn twitched and let out a grunt as a robot fist met her ribs from behind. Letting go of her blade, the fey used her TK powers to sink two blades into her arms at the elbows, cutting down the road to her wrist as she chanted. Blood flowed down her arms and into her hands as power grew and collected.

"ABACABB! ...GOURANGA! ...IDCLIP!"

You know, come to think of it, at least this wasn't a spider made of ****** LAVA who turned into a spider made of Unobtanium which changed into a spider made out of ****** diamond katanas. If anyone was watching, which they probably weren't, they'd see a bit of a grin on her face.

This was gonna hurt. She'd be out of juice after this for a while. But goddamnit, there was gonna be some very dead ******** robots, and that spider wasn't gonna come out unscathed either. She drew deep within herself, and FOCUSED on the merger of her powers though blood, they key to it all.

And then some a*****e shows up and starts using WORDS.

Quote: "Greetings, fighters of-"

"...XYZZY! ...UUDDLRLRBASS! ...AYBABTU!"

The robots, trying as they were to beat Rhoslyn into submission, did not stop her from her chanting. Or from the bleeding. Most importantly, they were helpless to stop the ball of dark, cold, black flames growing in front of Rhoslyn, shining and glowing with arcane power, sparkling with ancient fey magic, and the cold certainty of death.

They most certainly did do a great job of beating the s**t out of her, though. As bruises began to pile up and Rhoslyn's chanting grew louder, two robots grabbed her around the shoulder and started to jetpack up, dragging the very determined fey into the sky as she finished her spell.

"AGGRO!"

The roughly softball-sized orb of negative energy, sidhe blood magic, and flames compressed itself indescribably. One second, it was there, sucking in ambient light and killing every last microbe around it. The next second, it was... gone.

A dramatic pause ensued, in which we break from the impending doom and take a look at our sparkly, large-breasted protagonist. She flew awkwardly through the air, ankles skimming the ground, head slumped with her eyes closed as she breathed heavily and poorly. It was pretty clear that she had taken a beating from the visible bruises on her body and just the sound of her breathing alone, and was spending the dregs of her power on "remain awake". It'd be a while before she could magic again. Still, it was worth noting that without her controlling her glamour, she was quite SHINY indeed.

Meanwhile, back on the ground, the point of random death in the air EXPLODED. A ring of black flames arced from the exact center of the magic, striking the robots in more or less the midsection. While it did not seem to do much damage at first, the rapid pitting, sparking, and rusting that began to strike almost instantly that they'd fall into two pieces on their own as soon as they tried to use that jetpack. The rest of the flames would eventually make their way to a spot of metal on the ground, and eat their way through it to produce twisted scraps of rust and fail.*

Still didn't help her, but Rhoslyn still weighed every pound that her muscles and boobs implied, and without more reinforcements to get her going, her team would probably have time to knock out a few more, pick up the more-or-less out-of-commission amazon!Rhos, and ******** to that shuttle.

Probably.

[Posts remaining without magic use: 3.5]

[*For justification, I refers to a conversation regarding a possible striker, in which more or less this same use of her powers was discussed - big, down the road cuts, chanting, increased damage, and then dealing with blood loss and power loss for a while. The only change was from "cold" to "death" and the duration of unpoweredness would be longer. Also, NPC's die more easily.]

14C-Z-N

So.. giant spider.

For Canaan, this was not a new experience. Back on the Black Sand Island he and Rhoslyn had faced a giant daemon spider that had three different forms, and they won that fight. None of them came out unscathed, but they won nonetheless.

The only difference now happened to be that Canaan was a lot less powerful and the spider had a lot of allies - not to mention some crazy guy in a helmet was about to jihad them with a big laser.

"Jeez, as if my day couldn't get any crappier."

Kain had the right idea though, mustering his strength Canaan dashed towards the armored transport copter. Jutting out of it's side from a busted hatch was a turret, likely for aerial defense - some good it had done. A mental note was made to use it on whatever the hell else intended to attack them again.

Not allowing himself or his team to be lost in the confusion of the situation, Canaan yelled out a few orders to keep everyone as organized and on the ball as possible. "KAIN, GET ROSS!"

BOOOM

Suddenly, exploding black flames everywhere. The surge of magical energy coming from a likely pissed off Rhos. If she hadn't been in trouble before with the robots, that exertion of energy in unison with the debilitating effects of the field was gonna leave Ross in an extremely bad spot. Stay on course to the armored transport seemed like the smartest, most logical thing to do. Not only could Canaan survive the impending explosion, but he could continue to lead his team. But Rhos was his friend, and so was Kain, leaving them out there - it was against his nature.

And so Canaan went against all the screaming in his logical mind and Tygris and b-lined in the direction that he had ordered Kain to follow.

Since Yasuo was already in the transport and therefore near the turret, Canaan had one order for the shinobi. "YASUO, OPEN FIRE ON THE FIRST THING THAT GETS BETWEEN US AND THAT TRANSPORT!" The situation had gotten tense really fast. Two people could help Ross get to the transport twice as fast, in theory.

If running wouldn't do it, both Canaan and Kain had wings - they could use all their strength BEAST through the last bit of space that separated them from their barrier.

Of course this would take a much heavier toll on Canaan, due to his reliance upon summoning his magical power quickly.

Seconds remained. Only time would tell.

However, if the robots had managed to drag Rhos off before either Kain nor Canaan could help her, they would immediately break off their rescue attempt and race back for the transport chopper. After all, wasting their lives trying to save their friend was a fools sacrifice. Live and fight another day, Rhos wasn't anybody to be ****** with - she could handle herself until either the rest of Shattered Steel busted into wherever they were holding her or she personally wrecked their st.

15Dragosani Kain

Kain was already on the move, on his feet and dashing towards the flighting Rhos. He gritted his teeth and prepared himself for the hot flash of pain he'd feel as his wings tore themselves from his back, his arms outstretched and clutched the belt of his teammate, being carried off as he/she was.

The Devil may have accidentally pants Rhos in the midst of grabbing hold of one drones, but a little content like that shouldn't be excluded....maybe.....kinda.....probably best not to think about it. Kain was unarmed still not without options, his added weight brought the two drones lower than anticipated, forcing them to struggle more. The turbines on the jet packs blasted with ferocity, urging upon Kain's pants that were promptly stripped away. He took the drone he was riding on by the back of the 'neck' and tore out its 'spine'. His hand slicing against the tough metal from the force he had to use, but it payed off.

The drone collapsed to dead weight throwing the remaining drone off balance and into the tail of the chopper, it's elbow was badly damaged and the metallic hand would fall limp. Both Kain and Rhos would fall to the soft sands below, luckily not much air time was reached before the devilish intervention. But, now it was up to him to drag the girl back to the ship.

He knew there was no way in hell the Victory’s cannon could have struck so soon, especially when the burning ball of energy was still very visible. He spun around just in time to witness the gruesome destruction of his minions. With an annoyed sigh, he motioned to three of drones nearest to him.

His engines flared as he doubled back to towards the stalled members of Shattered Steel. They were going to be cutting this one pretty damn close.

What a charming young gentleman, to come in and sweep her off her feet like that! She turned and marveled at the pretty landscape, and especially the giant spider and random explosions and s**t. It was almost... romantic. It just lacked alcohol, more alcohol, bacon, more explosions, and some gunfire... and no sunrise or sunset.

"What's a boy like you doing in a place like this?" Only, it came out more like, "Whassaboooi like yew doin' hurr?" and sounded more confused than seductive. As usual, when in a situation she did not immediately understand, the solution was always sex or killing. Since sex was more fun, the solution was frequently the former. This was true for Sidhe in general.

Anyway, not weak and tired enough to notice the general sense of "impending doom", Rhoslyn did her level best to cuddle the Ensign, or at least be holding onto him as hard as possible. It was kinda... hard to use your hands properly when you had, y'know, sliced your arm open more or less to the bone. Speaking of her hands, they were more or less DEATHGRIPPED onto her s**t, regardless of what actually happens when someone cuts themselves like that. Rhoslyn had no idea of this, mostly busy focusing on "don't die" and "get laid".

"FFFFFUU--"

The moment the robot started shooting at him, Canaan dove behind a piece of metal jutting up out the ground. Yeah, it was really shitty protection and anybody that wanted to hit him would have been able too, thankfully whoever had programmed this robot forgot to install a targeting system.

Needless to say though, pinned down as he was, there was nothing that Canaan could do. Run out and get shot? Some good that'd do anybody - it certainly just make things harder on Kain and Rhos - who were having a tough time as it was.

The impending doom coming down on top of them began to shake the ground beneath Canaan's feat and an ominous blue glow bathed the battlefield. "This is botched."

Plan B.

Unfortunately, Rhos had ended up in more trouble than his team could logically bail her out of. Canaan cursed under his breath, but now survival was at the top of the list. Sucking in a breath of air and gritting his teeth, Canaan shot out from his cover and raced towards Kain as fast as he could. Grabbing ahold of the devil from whatever position he ended up in, Canaan would run like a madman towards the armored shuttle.

Kain literally hovered off the ground Canaan moved so hard and fast. Adrenaline supplied his body with enough energy and power to get around the draining effect of the field in order to survive - sure, it'd be a while before he was feeling his old self again from this - but he'd hopefully still be alive!

And then the bomb hit...

Canaan managed two words during all of this, "aw tits..."

Blue light and an overwhelming heat and sound poured over the battlefield. Canaan's one thought now was Merdice face and how he might not get to see his kid grow up. And then everything overtook him, his body lifted up by a rush of air, Kain being taken along with him. They vanished into a sea of blue and white, flying off into the distance head over heels. The giant spider and the remaining robots were swept away like tissue paper caught in a roaring river.

The battlefield had been reshaped entirely. Most of the original pieces of scrap were covered with three or so layers of thick dust, the entrance to the pit was half-collapsed, and the only things that seemed to remain were the armored transport, turned onto it's side. What wreckage that hadn't been entirely buried still protruded out of the ground.

Silence.

"uhg...."

A geyser of sand sprayed up from near the armored transport. Sitting up with a lot of sand caked in his blue hair and all over his face, which was blank, was the captain of Shattered Steel. Yes, he had survived - if only due to the hand of god perhaps. Having been blown right near the armored transport, it had taken a huge brunt of the explosion, while layers upon layers of dust covered up Canaan and Kain with pieces of metal furthering the shielding.

Injuries were unavoidable though. Canaan couldn't move his left arm... it was... twisted, broken. The pain of the injury hadn't exactly set in yet, the warrior was still in a state of shock from what had happened - alive, though, and that was the important part. Ignoring what felt like a great pressure on his shoulders, Canaan yanked Kain up with his right arm out of another pile of sand next to him.

"Merdice..."

It was the first thought that came to Canaan's mind. He wondered how she was doing right now, if she was watching anything on TV. If she had seen this entire mess? Hopefully not.

"Yasuo, and... oh ********.. Rhos."

His teammates, his friends, goddammit.

There was going to be some hell to pay for this.

19Supreme Jerk Commander

Fate had once again smiled upon the stalwart warriors of Shattered Steel, Rhosyln excluded. Faced with a blast that should have guaranteed Jormangandr a free ride to the finals, they endured. One might ask how mere “men” could walk away with such weaponry being brought against them. The answer lay in the details. The Ensign had called upon the Victory to let loose its wrath upon the Pit itself, and not its outlying areas. The coordinates relayed to the ships gunnery team were very precise, and you don’t carry the name “Victory” by being inaccurate.

The blast rained down, exploring the forbidden depths of the Pit itself! This was bad news for the beast-spider and her young, but extremely good news for Shattered Steel! What they experienced were the watered down after-affects of the explosion that occurred several feet beneath them. That’s not to say the shockwave was nothing to be disregarded, luck still played one hell of a part!

Code: Searching...

As dust began to clear, a lone object floated along.

Code: Searching... =(

Yes, the orb had somehow survived the blast, and it was projecting a sad-face emoticon. The robot seemed to be concerned. Had the poor bastards it was sent to guide actually been annihilated? Would Shattered Steel go down in HoH history as the first team ever to be eliminated before the elimination round even began!?

Code: !

Life! They’d leave no such legacy!

The orb approached to location of Canaan and Kain, still projecting its bright red exclamation point.

It had a message for them:

Heaven or Hell 2010

ELIMINATION BATTLE! PHASE 1:

“WELCOME!”

Objective: BOARD THE CIS VICTORY!

Time limit: 3 posts.

Situation: The Ensign has made off with your teammate! Are you a BAD ENOUGH DUDE to go and save her?????????!

Perils: Unknown…

Ready?

GO!

This party was just getting started!

But their only means of transportation lay partially buried and useless! It had been proven that at least one of them could fly, but were they willing to waste time flying for 5 or so miles to reach the ship which now dominated the scenery?

Fortunately for Shattered Steel, they’d receive help from above! Angels broke out into chorus as a focused ray of sunlight shined from the heavens, highlighting another shuttle falling a couple hundred feet away! The long furrow carved into the ground behind it gave a pretty good hint as to how it got there. These bastards didn’t know just how lucky they were! Back during the massive blast, the aftershock startled the shuttle’s pilot and caused him to choke on the gum he was chewing. He blacked out, and lost control, and crash landed. The shuttles were extremely durable, so it was still sky worthy, the only problem being that its landing skies no longer extended.

The robotic orb proved its own brand of encouragement.

Code: -> GO! ->

Now, what of Rhosyln and the Ensign?

Rhoslyn Vernal Wrote:

"Whassaboooi like yew doin' hurr?"

Even if he had a desire to listen to the woman, he couldn’t hear her. Not with the loud roaring of his jet-pack and the buzzing of the huge-a** beam descending on their location. The Ensign landed in the open hatch of the shuttle, shutting off his jet-pack and leaving his wounded cargo in care of the other combat drones. At the moment the shuttle’s initial group of 10 had thinned to 4. The others were either destroyed in the initial conflict, boarded another shuttle, or simply wouldn’t make it out in time.

“Lieutenant! MAKE THIS b***h FLY!” He shouted, bursting into the cockpit of the aircraft.

“YES SIR!”

The shuttle took the lead, its rear hatch slamming shut as it throttled up. When the beam struck, increased turbulence just about shoot the thing apart!

“Sir… 3rd squad seems to be having difficulty.”

“What?” The Ensign glanced out the window just in time to see one of the shuttles break formation and dart towards the ground.

“It’s too late to do anything for him, just keep flying!”

The trip back to the Victory wasn’t a long one, taking little over a minute given their speed. The shuttles flew in through one of the massive pylons flanking the carrier. Its foremost section was currently split in two and retracted, revealing a multi-decked hangar area. Combat Drones, mechanics, and other assorted crew awaited the Ensign’s arrival. The expression on many of their faces read: “What the hell happened out there?” At least, that was the case of the organic crew.

As far as they knew, three shuttles and 30 combat drones departed to the ground and only 2 ships with about a third of the bots returning. On top of that, the Ensign had brought back souvenir! A pantsless woman at that! Either they had just retrieved a very important hostage, or The Commander had made one hell of a booty call. When you’ve worked under the man for so long, you just didn’t know.

The Ensign let out an annoyed sigh as he exited the shuttle through the rear hatch, the four Combat Drones following behind with their prisoner in tow. Maybe she’d come along quietly, maybe she’d kick up a ruckus. At this point it didn’t matter, Rhosyln would be faced with insurmountable odds now that she was in the hornet’s next.

She’d have to depend on her teammates for now.

Note: Okay guys, you have 3 posts (each, or barring that, 9 posts total) to get your asses from the ground and onto that hangar! I'll post crap when needed, but don't wait on me unless you have a concern. In general, expect little resistance until you get really close to the open bay. At that point, you can expect a not so warm welcome ![smilies/icon_wink.gif.]

20The Crossed Fox

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Dust and debris flew past the active aircraft, and even before Yasuo could get to a turret the thing would flip on its side. The engines would choke out on everything that flew into them, one of them beginning to smoke out of its rear vent. The shinobi would be violenty tossed into the cushioned side chair in the rear of the craft, sparing him a probable trip down the road of hard knocks again. "Dammit," he spoke to himself. He'd wait for the dust to clear before coming out of the rear of the craft, his body aching with the compiled injuries of the crash and the throw prior. Once all was deemed safe in his mind, Yasuo would look around for any signs of life. He caught the sight of Canaan, as well as Kain, but-... they took Rhoslyn.

In the distance the shinobi could see three ships, two of them heading to a now clear-as-day GIANTSHIP, the letters CIS VICTORY just barely visible to the shinobi's eyes. The effects of the gas had since worn off and given him his senses once more, something he needed if things were going to keep going at this. The damn drain was starting to pick back up, however, and that in itself had yet to be solved. Still, there was the case of the third ship that had deviated from the normal path. He had an idea...

"Kain! Canaan! We need to get on that ship! They're taking Rhoslyn there!"

He pointed out to the object that seemed to choke away from the Ensigns formation, as well as the Victory.

"Toss me!" He ordered. It was in range for the both of them to hurk him, and it was well worth the shot in his opinion.

21Dragosani Kain

Kain's face buried into the sand, his shoulder thumping hard into the dustbowl before his fall. He felt the muscles strain at the sudden impact and he was thankful that the was a much more comforting ground to catch him than concrete. Too bad that while he felt more sand chaff down his pants his grip on Rhos was lost, torn from him by the BACKATTACK.

First intention was to turn around and dash after the b*****d but another tugging on his arm forced him into a different direction, the Devil' s fist was coming around to meet the new assailant but was halted when he realised that the blue haired hombre was a familiar face.

"Canaan--WHAT THE HELL!?" The two hadn't spoken much, though, it should have gone without saying, never get between a Devil and his mark. Protest was quick coming to the rescuer, but the point Canaan would have made was already done.

Dust filled up into his nostrils and grit his hair some more, the two barely able to get to shelter when the blast hit. His captain seemed to take a nasty hit, but for the infernal, his wings acted as a much more reasonable 'duck-and-cover' shield'; most of the force blowing over the man in a shower of stone.

This is ridiculous.

Give me a break...

Kain shook himself of the loose dirt that covered him, it was a surprise that there existed a man amongst the filth. It hardly did a proper job, simply shaking loose but it was all that he was going to get. They needed to get Rhos back ASAP.

Quote:

"Toss me!"

"You got it, 'mate"

Canaan wouldn't get a chance here, Kain grabbed the ninja but the scruff, whirling the man around and aiming to trip him to the ground. Grabbing at his ankles the Devil would start turning on the spot clockwise--

Quote: Adrenaline Rush - When in battle a rush of blood and energy is sent to the parts of his body that is in need of added power. This quality is mostly used as an increase of energy for Kain, giving him the ability to heighten his endurance in an area of his body, increased half of his muscle strength, includes speed, for a turn. Muscle fatigue follows to the formerly enhanced area, also for turn.

One.

Two.

THREE!

"RAAAAAGH!"

And like a shot-put he'd launch Yasuo after his mark.

Kain'd reel around for another turnabout, his arms pumped and jacked up from the increased surge of adrenaline. This time he'd be the one snatching Canaan up, to his feet, at least. The Devil would be quickly following the shinobi, taking flight with his own two wings, churning his own gust of sand as he took flight. Upward and onward.

22C-Z-N

"Not even a thank you. Well, he is a devil."

Canaan, caught off guard by Yasuo's sudden shouting, glanced up towards the shinobi as he emerged from the toppled ship. It occurred to him to ask if Yasou was alright, but him yelling "TOSS ME" ended up being prioritized in Canaan's mind.

Toss him?

Looking over his shoulder and around Kain, about a few hundred feet off was another shuttle. That is where Yasuo wanted to be thrown. The entire plan didn't click together until Canaan looked up to see a giant airship flying overhead.

"Wait, I get it! Get to the ship and catch the guys that took Ross and tried to blow us up!"

Kain, a thinking a step ahead, had already grabbed Yasuo up and in a single mighty toss launched the shinobi in that direction. Wouldn't a landing from a speed like that be somewhat painful? Oh wait, Yasuo was a ninja, he was used to flying through the air and catching himself - he'd end up landing on that ship in some agile manner.

Canaan went to stand up, finding a sudden and rather unwelcome hand from the devil pulling him the rest of the way to his feet. "AH, ********! Kain, watch the arm - it's broken." Sure enough, a bloody, black and blue left arm hung limp at Canaan's side. It was going to cause him a problem.

Priorities!

"Lets get to that ship!"

Following Kain's example, Canaan activated his own dragon wings and jumped up into the air. After a few powerful flaps he was soaring behind Kain towards the shuttle that Yasuo had (hopefully) landed on safety and powered up. Thankfully for him, he hadn't activated any other piece of his armor yet, so flying wasn't going to be a problem, and with him being far removed from the grip of the death-lands, his energy began to come back to him.

//"Solid planning on part of your ninja. Throwing him to the shuttle and then flying towards it yourselves, covering vastly more ground than you would have if you'd run."//

"Yeah..."

Maybe she’d come along quietly, maybe she’d kick up a ruckus. At this point it didn’t matter, Rhosyln would be faced with insurmountable odds now that she was in the hornet’s next.

She’d have to depend on her teammates for now.

No ruckus, the fey was still confused, vaguely trusting of the quiet, romantic jetpack guy, and had not somehow magically recovered from a few dozen hard punches, nearly being blown up, nearly blowing herself up, and the whole "bleeding a lot" thing. So, assuming that the Ensign was trying to take her out on a date, the fey giggled and bled as she kinda-walked, kinda-dragged onward and inward.

Rhoslyn went along quite cheerfully, giving big, goofy smiles to just about everyone and everything. People, random electronics, even one very confused-feeling ant. Giving the assorted drones another sparkly and toothy grin, the fey tilted her head sideways and stared at the knives sticking out of her arms. Yeah... you know, this probably qualified as a medical emergency. Hee... emergency rhymed with...

She giggled, then stumbled a bit, stars dancing across her vision as she took another few deep, slightly rattling gasps. Her stomach churned acid and her chest hurt. So did her back, for some odd reason, like she'd managed to burn it. Yes, the tear gas blisters.

"Guuuuuuuuuyyyyyys. Guys. Waaiiit." Maybe they would, maybe not. Either way, someone up ahead caught the look on Rhos's face, and suddenly had a very bad feeling that he would need to get his uniform cleaned. "Imma be sick now!"

And then she was. The guy's boots were covered in all manner of bad, and after a few seconds of standing there/being dragged along by vomit-covered robots, idly brought up her right arm, tried and failed to wipe her face clean, and poked herself in the cheek with the knife point due to angles.

"Aaaaaaaallll better!" she announced to nobody in particular, smiling at a particularly bright light. So the man wasn't all that talkative, but he sure did have a cool house and she was that kind of girl.

Mmh... she tried again to wipe her face clean, and more or less got the job done with her numb, coldish hand. Even through the haze of pain and blood loss, she could feel the steady, cool trickle of her power flowing out from her soul into her physical body, filling her reserves back up. Knotting her red eyebrows together, she tried to focus on her Hand and get it to seal her wounds.

Her fingers sparkled a little. Blood dripped from her wounds. Nope, still too hazy to reach it. She wasn't far enough gone to not realize that this was something serious, but given the whole layers of pain on pain and feeling sick and confused and strangely horny, she wasn't surprised. Now...

What was she doing? Ah, ********, Jetpack was doing the thinking for her. She kept moving forward under a combination of her own power and the robot's steady advancing... mostly the robots, since she was holding onto them for dear life now.

Those were his favorite pair of boots. He had first laid eyes on them 4 years ago on the department store clearance rack of some backwater planet in Charlie Sector. They were $53.99 and have paid for themselves many times over! Now, they were covered with this jerk’s breakfast! 45 minutes of tedious shining gone to waste. The Ensign halted, causing the convoy that had formed behind him to do the same.

“What is-” he turned, his face contorting in rage! He would have smacked the woman across her mug if he hadn’t just now noticed how messed up she was. “Good lord, you look like s**t! Maybe the boss will show enough compassion to actually stick you in the infirmary. It’s a long shot, though. He hates the people on this planet.” Another sigh escaped the young officer. Between his bleeding hostage babbling nonsense and the vomit covered boot and robots, his trip to the bridge had become a bit more unpleasant.

25The Black Sand Mule

"Mmmmgh..." She thought out her words carefully, eyes narrowing a bit in concentration. "No infermeme. Steaaaaaaak. Joooze. Time. An'... an'..." Blast it, what were the words? It really wasn't cool, her having to thinky for talky. Blinking a few times, she un-squinted her eyes and grinned again, not noticing that she was shaking a little. "If y'all keep... urgh. Doan keep meee outta magic. 'f ya worry, then jes' poinagun amme."

So... this guy wasn't trying to be romantic. Rhoslyn breathed a few times, still sounding like something was stuck in her throat.

"An' I hates mosta the everyones here. Th' sllewshuns boozy, jes say "fukken Gaai-a" threeerfour times an' haves a shots tilliz aaaaaaaaaaallll gravy!"

A giggle. Still, he seemed to be the Chief Flunkie to the Boss Man. And, unlike these robots, he talked! Maybe he knew where they all were, flunkies tended to know these things. Or who this BOSS was. God, she hoped there wasn't a BOSSFIGHT.

"Ssshho yer th' cute toppy lil gofer, ain'tcha?" Another giggle. "An' yer boshadick? Whya gotta werk foreeem, then? An' where army?"

If he was talking, she'd try and keep him talking. And maybe get in his pants. Nah... you don't ******** flunkies, it's bad for morale. Still, any port in a storm, and he did rescue her, so he did have certain rights...

Her thought process would show by her gaze, bouncing back and forth between the Ensign's face, his chest, and his legs. Mostly, the chest and legs, like he was a prime piece of steak ready to be eaten with butter and potatoes and a nice glass of wine. Yeah, she was in serious need of some fuel to staunch the bloodflow and to use her Hand to seriously bring her blood levels back up. Obviously, there would not be a full recovery, but given enough time, sugar, and protein, she'd at least manage to not be so dizzy/ditzy.

26The Crossed Fox

After a nice tug backwards, Yasuo found himself in the hands of the devil. This idea had suddenly become not as good as he had pictured it before; the element of doubt was now upon him. "Whew..." he sighed deeply, releasing the built up anxiety he held within.

Three...

Two...

One...

Launch.

Kain Wrote:

"RAAAAAGH!"

Taking in a breath as soon as he launched outwards, Yasuo would bend straight into a pencil-like shape, making his figure more aerodynamic for the time being. The force at which Kain had launched the shinobi was pretty much the equivalent of an artillery shell, soaring quickly through the air with immense momentum upon his form. In fact, it was so much that-

ZOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!

....that he would overshoot over the cockpit.

"Yes!" Yasuo thought on that. "GO TIME!" He'd then yell, opening his arms and legs to catch as much wind resistance as he possibly could, as if he were some sort of FLYING SQUIRREL. This caused him to shoot back with an immense opposing force; it wasn't anything that would stop Yasuo though, not by a long shot.

To add on to the overall situation, his strength was coming back. It gave him the idea to go ahead and unlock his STRENGTH once again, this time putting it to proper use. Yasuo's hands would glow, and with a booming battlecry-

"HAAAAHHH!!!!!"

Yasuo would slam his hands through the top of the ships cockpit, ripping through the steel and -unfortunately- cutting up his hands in the process. The glass shattered, causing the already puzzled pilots to squirm in terror. It wasn't everyday that you had a guy like Yasuo busting through your window, after all.

Popping his head in, the shinobi would give them a clenched greeting. "Hello there...", simple and easy going, before he would hop in and take care of business. Loud noises and screams would echo throughout the ship, the unseen best left as it was. Only a few moments later would the ship resume its course, and the rear cargo door open up for the pursuing team members of Shattered Steel. It seemed Yasuo was successful in hijacking the aircraft, with the two pilots knocked out and locked away in a box in the cargo bay.

Kain would be ascending from beneath the aircraft, not wanting to be caught in the planes jet force. The cargo doors were a welcomed sight for the tiring Devil, the lands below made his legs feel like jelly, the surge of adrenaline in his arms adding to the fatigue in his limbs. He ushered himself up the ramp and tumbled into his welcoming committee.

Bastards just keep coming out of nowhere...errgggh

In a heap he lay with two lightly armed drones, wanting to quickly evict the vagrant flier. Reaching for their weapons around the bulk of the man, they found trouble grasping their tools. Errant shots were executing the parachutes under the seats.....so much for them. Yay for wings.

Kain laid on a limpy elbow PAUNCH to the drone on his lefts main camera, shattering it and causing the thing to roll about looking for a new visual angle. The other drone was grasping into his right shoulder with incredible force that made the infernal grunt against its rough hold, his right hand came to the metallic wrist in attempt to free himself from the hold but there was no use.

--PEW.....pew PEW

Turned out that drone number one found its weapon and met a nifty mark; its shoulder digging partner's DOME. The blind drone fired more shots, scarring the seats above the parachute bags, small fires started to break out from the scorches.

"...you dirty mother'...." Kain's tail thrust itself into the drones abdomen, erupting a burst of sparks and smell of electrical fire. It twitched about until the power slowly ebbed away from its core and left a shell for Kain to bed on. He let go of his tensed muscles and took a couple rejuvenating breaths.

In and out of planes. Ridiculous. At least it was Yasuo in charge up front now, hopefully Canaan was well on his way, they'd need everyone to get their teammate back.

CRASH!

The robot stuck on Kain's tail suddenly went flying into the side wall as Canaan made his dynamic entrance into the side of the shuttle, feet first! The warriors wings folded behind him gracefully as he set foot on the shuttle floor.

No words.

Nothing to say, merely a glance towards the rapidly approaching hanger of the ship that they were pursuing. The horrible state of Canaan's left arm didn't seem to bother him for the moment, all his focus was that hanger and getting there to save one of his very best friends.

Hopefully it the welcome wagon when they got aboard wouldn't be expecting an easy fight. Some serious hell needed to be unleashed for this attack!

Rhoslyn’s comments elicited a raise of the Ensign’s brow. He still couldn’t figure out what the hell she was talking about. Was she saying the only medical attention she needed was food and drink? What’d she think this was, A dinner date? This wasn’t Avatar! The Ensign had no interest in getting a piece of alien tail. Oh no! Not after what happened last time.

“You’re aboard the CIS Victory, a starship. Don’t worry about the boss; you’ll be meeting him shortly.” The Ensign performed an about-face and continued on his path, still a bit ticked about his boots. At least he kept his gas mask on, so the smell of vomit wasn’t overwhelming. His 6-robot escort marched along behind him, dragging Rhosyln towards one of the elevator.

Meanwhile…

The observer bot floated alongside the shuttle currently being requisitioned by the rest of Shattered Steel. Its red eye pulsing as it watched their actions with great interest. Unfortunately, the robot wasn’t their only spectator. Captain Jeramiah shot up on his seat in the control tower. He had been tracking the 3 shuttles ever since they embarked on their mission. He also knew that only two of them returned as the third broke formation and went falling to what he assumed was its end before suddenly regaining control.

Earlier attempts to contact the shuttle had been met with chocking sounds and banging noises. So one could imagine the surprise of the Captain when he hailed the shuttle again, and got this:

As Shattered Steel flew the shuttle closer to the Victory, they’d notice two things:

One, the massive doors revealing the hangars started to slide forward, slowly moving to reseal their only entrance.

Two, Lasers.

Here’s Hoping Yasuo kicked a** at Video Games because things were about to get a little bit hectic.

Cue: ACTION MUSIC!

Yasuo was the one in control now, and it sounded like things were going just as planned.

Kain Wrote:

Pew....pew-PEWPEW

Better than planned, actually. It seemed the two were able to take out whatever resistance stood behind the thin iron door that lead to the cockpit. Things seemed to be going pretty smooth now.

Picking up the microphone, Yasuo would announce to everyone aboard his intentions.

"Alright you guys, I can't promise this'll be the smoothest of rides, but I can guarantee you that we're getting into that ship. I'd suggest you buckle up though," he paused for effect. "It's going to be a bumpy ride..."

Though he had just suggested such a thing to his comrades, the shinobi never felt it safe to be strapped to something that was most likely going to be destroyed. His teammates probably felt the same way, too. Regardless, after having gotten used to the controls, the shinobi punched the thrusters forward with whatever juice they had in them. They were getting into that ship in one fashion or another.

Upon further examination of the control board, two notable things were found on it.

  1. The communications array was active and open for all to hear him. Great...
  1. There was a really big red button with the words ANGRYBOOSTER under them. That was obviously not to be touched, unless in case of an emergency.

Speaking of the comm array, it looked like Shattered Steel had been comrpomised by whomever was in charge over there. This figure, this "Commander" seemed like he was a real jerk for doing all of this, but it was something that would be dealt with very soon. His voice would boom over the intercom, however, leaving very little room to contemplate any more actions.

THE JERK Wrote:

"s**t, we've got incoming. CLOSE BAY DOOR A!

AND ARM THE FLAK LASERS!"

Well if things didn't look bleak before, they sure did now. As this drop ship neared within the three quarters mark of the CIS Victory, the hangar doors began to close at an epicly slow rate, something Yasuo (and the rest of his world) had to deal with on a constant, near-daily basis. Still, the rush of adrenaline and doubt caved in on him, and his thoughts rushed to the only thing he felt he could rely on now - instinct.

"What do I do, what do I do?!" he yelled at himself in his own mind. "I can't turn around; I can't leave her, its not fair to them." His own doubts set in, and then rushed out once more. "No, I am not a coward. I will not run from this, no way."

Inner monologuing went further in now, as things got tighter and tighter. The flak lasers shot off, bracketing the ship into a tight-knit firing lane. The first wave passed by, every shot missing by a good distance. The next wave exploded fairly closely to the transport, the plasma shot shaking its frame violently. It was time his inner thoughts ended;

"I can't let them down, I won't..."

"I WON'T!!!"

But, it would happen his security would be that from the docking ship they sought.

The immense forces that shot and pulled him to and fro in the buckled seat were intense, all threatenting whiplash but causing hm nothing less of extreme discomfort and masive chaffing against his voluminous wings that encompassed his mass. The Devil quickly revived from his secured state to venture forth into the 'hnager' Yasuo landed them into, it was time to find out where Rhos was taken. Plopping his a** down in a seat and using his one good arm to strap himself in, Canaan prepared for RAMMING SPEED! As the thrusters kicked in and the shuttle shot through the sky, Canaan felt his body almost melt into the seat - he couldn't hold his eyes open and a sensation of full body pressure and floating overcame him. His broken left arm, the pain that had been slamming him for a good while now, it seemed almost... pleasant.

Sounds of laser fire and the feeling of the shuttle rocking back and forth as Yasuo piloted them right up the enemies a*****e, none of it registered to the warrior.

Finally they reached their mark, having avoided a most unpleasant date with hot plasma cannons!

In GLORIOUS dynamic fashion Yasuo crashed the ship right through the CIS Victories hangar door and sent them skidding across the metal flooring, possibly taking out whatever welcoming party was there waiting for them to arrive. With a thunderous clang the shuttle finally came to a rest in a smoldering crooked fashion up against the interior hull.

Inside, Canaan unstrapped himself with his arm and shook his head, trying to clear all the cobwebs brought about by the thrill ride. The rescue party had landed. Once his wits were about him again, taking just a moment, Canaan's wings unfurled from behind him and he stood up. He took one quick look at his team, Yasuo and Canaan, and then glanced towards the shuttles side door. Folding his wings in front of his torso and gripping his left arm with his right, Canaan KICKED OPEN the side door and prepared to run out.

They had to save Rhos!

No less than 10 Combat Drones were taken out as the shuttle power-slid to a halt, scuffing up the deck and generally making a spectacle of itself. Countless pairs of eyes, both organic and machine focused upon the unexpected new arrivals. None of which carried more annoyance than those of the Ensign, who had by now reached the elevator at the far end of obscenely large area.

“How, unpleasant.” The Ensign spat. He wanted desperately to turn around and take care of the three intruders himself, but there was no way in hell he was going to leave his captive under the care the Combat Drones.

First, deliver the chick, then come back for some a** whooping.

-Shhhkt-

The Ensign gave a quick wave to the three members of Shattered Steel before he, and his convoy disappeared behind the closing elevator doors.

Going up.

As for Canaan, Kain, and Yasuo they’d find themselves confronted with an entirely new problem. At the hangar’s center was a square hole, a rather large one. Through that hole, rose a lift, a platform used for carrying equipment, vehicles, and weaponry between all the decks of the hangar. Today, however, it carried a gift created especially for Shattered Steel:

An a**-whooping!

Its arrival was announced with the hissing of hydraulics and the grinding of metal against metal. The lift locked into place, letting loose it’s contingent of 35 Combat Drones! As one, they rushed towards Shattered Steel, armed with extra large mechanical tools (wrenches, hammers, circular saws, etc) in addition to their own blades and wrist lasers! If Shattered Steel wanted to even entertain the thought of following the Ensign, they’d first have to fight their way through the angry mob forged of metal and hate! But wait, there’s more! Mixed amongst the typical cast of silvery drones, were 5 who carried a bluish tinge. Shattered Steel would quickly realize that these guys weren’t the ordinary grunt-bots that they have been smashing thus far. These bad-boys were considerably stronger and a bit more armored.

Code: ! NEW OBJECTIVE!

That damned floating helper-bot had made its way onto the ship as well!

Heaven or Hell 2010

ELIMINATION BATTLE! PHASE 2:

“All aboard the SS Assbeat!”

Objective: MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE UPPER DECKS!

Time limit: 4 posts (2 to reach the lift, 2 while actually on it).

Situation: Smash your way to the lift, then take it to the upper decks!

Perils: Surprise! MORE combat drones who not only appear on this deck, but seem to rain down from the upper-levels as you ride the lift! Though this time, they’re slightly different from the typical cast, some of them have giant wrenches, hammers, saws, and even blow torches! More importantly, there are some upgraded models who are considerably tougher than normal. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for surprises while on the lift!

Ready?

GO!

At first glance, Shattered Steel seemed to be faced with the most insurmountable of tasks. However, they’d have a couple things going for them:

One, the power draining effects of the Dead Plains no longer applied on the Victory.

Two, when they crash landed, one of the drones they ran into was sent flying into a ambiguous, unmarked crate, shattering it to splinters! Its contents consisted of a single plastic bottle of blue liquid that went rolling along the deck quite a ways before coming to a stop in front of one of Shattered Steel’s members.

Why there was only one bottle in that entire crate was not important. What mattered was they had just scored themselves a free POWER UP!

Effects: Free usage of powers/special abilities for 2 posts without regard to power up times, energy requirements, and other limiting factors. After the two posts are up, you feel replenished and suffer no downtime from your abilities (as if you didn’t use them at all)! You can split it in half if you want (both of you only have 1 post of the effect), but you need at least 16oz of the stuff to gain any benefit from it! Otherwise it’ll do little more than quench your thirst. (This is clearly marked on the bottle… as a warning!)

[Note: TIME FOR ROUND 2! Same deal, 4 posts each (or 12 total if you don’t want to go in order). Get to the lift, and ride it up to the topmost deck, where I will post the situation once there. Don’t wait on me, I’ll post situation reports when needed. GO!]

Edit: Dammit, forgot ACTION MUSIC!

CIS VICTORY – Hangar/Power Lift

Welcome to the hangar area of the CIS Victory. This is where the starship keeps its impressive contingent of fighter craft, bombers, weaponry, surface vehicles, and whatnot. It’s also where ships enter and leave the vessel and have maintenance performed. The crew workers do not seem too pleased with Shattered Steel suddenly showing up and busting up their s**t, a fact made evident by the flashing red lights and wailing alarms!

Terrain

General – Machinery, vehicles, and disarmed weapons are all over the place! The entire hangar area is separated into 4 decks which can be traveled between via the large power lift in the center. There are also smaller elevators running along the far wall of the hangar, but the Ensign (being the jerk he is) has locked them! The power lift is a massive 50’ by 60’ platform, capable of lifting heavy machines and aircraft. There are no guard rails. The strangest thing about this lift is that, for some reason, it travels upwards along a 50 degree slope.

Natural Elemental Resource – None.

Weapons – Things that would logically be in the hangar of a starship.

Bonus Effects - The debuffs of the Dead Plains no longer apply. The fighters start on the 2nd deck.

As the other two kicked out the side door in the back, Yasuo would sit back in the chair and relax for a moment. He'd done his part, now it was time for them to shine. While they went about their business, the shinobi would look out the cracked side window at where that damn Ensign was taking Rhoslyn. It appeared as if he were waving down at the Shattered Steel Members, not cool by the shinobi's standards. However, as said, he needed to rest, and the other two in the back would handle it.

Meanwhile, Yasuo would look to see what controls were still intact. Everything seemed to be broken, except for another button that said "Smoke". Huh, interesting. Could this be the alternative to the tear gas?

POOF!!!

Guess not.

The good wing let off a trail of smoke, or what would be a trail if it were moving. That probably wasn't the best of things to do, but not that he had the time, exploration of this technology took over with his curiosity in mind.

Energy Revitalizing

36C-Z-N

With the silence following the destruction of the shuttle door, Canaan figured the coast was clear and quickly stepped out onto the hangar floor. The view in front of him was bland, uninteresting, but the sound of clanging drew his attention to his right.

His mouth nearly fell open.

"OH SHI-"

Standing in front of him in droves were robotic combat drones armed with melee weapons and other instruments of assbeat. "Dammit... as if having a broken ******** arm wasn't bad enough." If Canaan could give the Ensign the double bird, he totally would have.

"This... this is gonna be shitty."

Blunt and realistic as always, Canaan turned in order to face the synthetic vanguard. Slowly his wings came down over his shoulders to provide him as much cover as possible while still allowing him a full frontal view. Already he was formulating a plan of attack - though all tactics seemed to end up with only a few droids disabled and him in quite a large amount of crippling pain.

Tap.

"...eh?"

Next to Canaan's foot was a blue bottle of Gaia-Aide. Reaching down and picking it up with his right arm and twisting off the cap with his mouth, spitting it to the side, Canaan took a good long chug. All the running and getting exploded made a man thirsty, and hey, he needed to relish the last time he'd get to drink something without the assistance of a machine. Downing a tiny bit over half the drink, Canaan set the bottle down and began to walk forwards to meet his fate.

As he walked, Canaan began to feel his magical energy flow and surge through his body. It was strange because normally it took a lot of concentration to build up his energy. It was all flowing naturally, like something had suddenly opened up the well of energy within him. Crackling arcs of electricity danced all around his wings and his body.

//"WHELP! Whatever that was you just consumed, its... boosted your bodies capacity to channel my magical power! This is amazing, you could unleash a fully powered attack in this state! If you wish to strike at your foes before you die, now is your chance!"//

"Oh.. that so?"

The facts that SOMETHING powerful was happening couldn't be ignored, and Canaan didn't figure letting the chance slip by was a good thing. Focusing his energy in large amounts into his wings the warrior charged headlong towards the robotic horde. They geared their weapons and complemented his charge!

Within seconds they were upon each other! Folding his wings in front of his body, Canaan shield rammed right into the first few bots, feeling their dense metal bodies slamming off his in protest. With all his weight poured into this dash he managed to knock a few of them back and plow a few feet into the middle of them. Isolated eruptions of pain surged through his back as one of the robots stabbed him in the upper-back, while another smacked him in the lower back with a piece of pipe.

As the rest of the robots descended upon him to finish him, Canaan unfurled his wings in a mighty flap, sending a few of the robots back into others for a slight domino effect - from this flap came the brightest bluish white light in the entire hangar, followed with an erupting --

BZZZZZZZT SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHH

A powerful electrical explosion domed out over the small robot horde with Canaan at the nexus. Most of them would be fried almost instantly, while it would take a few of the bigger brutes a few more seconds to contained within the energy blast to be completely pacified.

Normally this was Canaan's single most powerful attack, meant to free himself of large numbers of enemies like this - it couldn't be done by simply channeling the energy through his arms, moving it through his wings and then having it erupt from there as he whipped them out made the explosion of energy travel like this.

Fully expecting to be sapped of all his stamina and left vulnerable to whatever remained, Canaan futilely clasped his right hand to his chest. He closed his eyes, soon after feeling an impact upon his face from the right side along with the razor sharp icy-hot sensation of a blade cutting into the flesh and gliding along from his cheek and across his nose. Then the blade stopped, and remained there.

Stepping away and opening his eyes seconds later to assess the situation, Canaan noticed two things. The first was that he wasn't fatigued, in fact, besides the throbbing pain in his arm, he felt like his old self. And two, save for three small bots and one brute, he'd managed to render all the robots pretty much scrap-metal. An amazing feat to say the least, but one that could have only been accomplished thanks to whatever the hell he had drank before attacking.

Thankfully there was some still left, and if his teammates had been watching, specifically Kain, he'd hopefully realize that he too could get some kind of super boost from it. It'd come in handy. As for Canaan, he gripped his bloody soaked face and turned an eye to the robot with the blade in front of him. Smoke and crackles of electricity spurted from it in various directions, having had clearly been disabled and its attack being a movement made upon death.

"Well... room's somewhat clear, I guess... move forwards..."

Canaan hobbled towards the elevator... not expecting to make it too close as the remaining robots were rapidly closing in on him.

37Dragosani Kain

Kain was quick to unstrap himself and was behind Canaan as the man charged balls out. The Devil shook his head in disbelief that the dude would waste so much time for a drink break, wasn't enough time for that. The Devil found himself weaponless against the impeding horde of steel, figuring it'd be better to arm himself than just rage through the mass.

Canaan was being a good distraction for him while he ducked back into the shuttle, grabbing the leg of a downed drone and dragging it back out. Two of the hangar drones were rushing the open door but Kain was ready to meet the bastards with a boot. Planted against the mechanical grunts chest and shoved backwards into the other, both fell to the ground with a trampling Devil close by. His heel came down once or twice to their heads, ceasing their movements.

The onslaught would continue as another drone reeled its arm back for a vicious overhead blow with an energy blade, presumably for cutting steel, not so fancy a thing the infernal would want hitting his ol'noodle. The dragged drone in his right and left hands came around, tripping the attacking thing causing it to land on its blade, severing the same attacking arm. In the same movement Kain brought his drone around and overhead for a downward smash to settle the blade user.

By now four had surrounded him, bringing him to rethink his slow progress.

Come on, stop pissing around!

"RAAAGH!"

With an ascending backswing he knocked the two of the four on their asses, one successfully evaded and the last was broken to pieces when he brought down his drone-bat on it's neck. Problem was that it ruined his bat and he was left with two stubby legs.

Five more were closing in, his freedom of movement getting smaller. The situation seemed dire for the Devil, especially when a transport electrical conduit came crashing down on his back.

"Urgh.."

They're coming from everywhere....hard to keep up..

"Pwuh!" A metallic fist met his mouth, blood and spit sloshing together, flavouring his smoke stained breath. Shoved the sucker puncher backwards, receding the advancers for space and time. Time to get his strength back from the effects of the land below.

38The Black Sand Mule

"Hai guys!"

She waved, or at least thought she did, to her teammates. It was probably not visible, or hearable. Ehehe... they were following. They looked piiiised. "Aaahh... I get it. This is... urgh." Oh, had she finally figured out what was going on? "'sabooot, infermashun er money. Ain't no... ushe ta ya bosh iffnfermation ifs not commin outtta my heads wite."

Her paleness had kinda reached an equilibrium, but her uncontrolled SHINY was going down. She could almost, almost feel her power, though it kept evading her grasp. Rhoslyn was sure.... eh. Maybe a little shut-eye...

Yeah, that sounded good. She closed her eyes and slumped forward, enjoying the whole... not having to move, thing. You know, there were some good things.. OUCH. Her head hurt for some reason, in a new way. Oh... one of the robots had gotten a little too high on an attempt to do... whatever it was doing. She didn't really care, shivering and not even noticing.

"Mmmh."

Air was cool. Breathing was nice. She'd just breathe and continue to be carried/dragged forward,

After a while, though, it had seemed like all of the blood had stopped flowing out of her giant wounds. Well, it was flowing, but not actually leaving her body. Also, mostly to make it clear that she was still in there somewhere, her right hand was enveloped in a strange translucent energy with sharp crimson borders that shifted erratically.

Given enough time uninterrupted, she would have formed what looked like scabs over just the damaged arteries, and then she'd probably just... be put wherever she was put and just breathe for a while. And keep kinda bleeding, only not as much. Her hand's SFX would end, and she'd return to her generally uncontrolled SHINY. All the power in the world wouldn't help you if you weren't physically there enough to use it.

Anyway, she was in a not!coma, in the sense that she was conscious, in a manner of speaking, but aside from that and the magic showed appeared much the same.

39The Crossed Fox

After a short little rest in the cockpit, Yasuo felt that he was ready to face the music with the rest of his team. He didn't want to leave them out there too long, after all.

The shinobi followed in the footsteps of his Dragoon and Devil friends, out the door and balls out ferocious. It seemed they were handling things quite well, except for the fact that they had focused on nearly all of the lesser bots. This left Yasuo with an unfortunate situation right now - Five Silver bots, two glowing ones, and a single shinobi left to face them all. s**t was gonna get fun in here.

Cracking his knuckles one by one, he'd speak to the bots as if they were sentient beings. "Who's first?" He questioned, and who would've guessed that one of the Silvers would jump up first. This wouldn't be too hard.

Yasuo drew out his blade from his back as the bot came in with a big a** wrench. It swung,

CLANG!

The shinobi blocked the large metallic club with the fluid movement of his hand, his left supporting the blades form on its flat edge. Gritting his teeth some, he would then send his right foot into the robots chest. The iron cruneched inwards, and an electrical short circuiting sound echoed from within the things form. It wasn't down, but it was damaged, and with this newfound opening the shinobi did not waste any time.

"HYA!" A quick cross slash for the things neck with dig his blades edge halfway through the head, severing whatever command connections that were controlling the thing it seemed. The metal husk fell to the ground, with the next bot (carrying a torch, no less) came in with a sneaky intent. Its metal feet clanged against the ships floor, giving away whatever element of surprise the thing had thought it held. Powering up, Yasuo would turn and KICK the thing in the side, his chakra exploding outwards against the chassis and crushing it inwards completely. It dropped with no reaction either. The other two darted off towards his teammates, leaving Big Louie here with Yasuo to take care of the job. A metallic fist came and struck the ninja right in the chest, launching him back into a slide.

"-cough- Damn, that thing hits hard. I gotta take it up a notch, I guess."

A wise thought, in this situation at least. Dropping his blade, Yasuo would allow his fists to do the taling from now on. The glowing metal man roared with an oddly human sound. Weord. However, it was nothing intimidating to this shinobi - he'd fought MONSTERS before this thing.

The soldier came forward, punching through the air in an attempt to knock the shinobi back once more. Yasuo juked to the side, stepping out and then back into the bots striking box. His right hand, now curled into a fist, came up and caught the thing in the chest. It dented inwards some, but it wasn't enough to knock the thing down, only interrupt its actions. Another soaring fist came from the left, striking into the right side of the things chassis. It swung down and swiped the ninja to the side of it in a half-successful brush off, but it wasn't enough to get him out of range.

Yasuo hopped onto the things back, wrapping his arms around it and giving it another good smash in the back. He yelled,

"You're not gonna get in MY WAY big man!"

Before another blow came soaring over the top of his head, into the crown of the metal soldiers. One of its LED lit eyes came popping out, and the form slowly lowered onto the ground. This super soldier had managed to rough the shinobi up pretty good again, but now that he had his strength again, there wasn't much in this ship that could stop him now.

Surely the other two had managed to clear away the sizable army of droids, because whether they had or not, they'd be meeting Yasuo over at the elevator (which he had just ran too shortly after taking down the IRON GIANT, and grabbing his weapon of course). Along the way, Yasuo managed to weave in between the three bots trailing behind his injured comrade, and he took the time to practically carry the guy to the elevator with him. They had no idea what this Commander planned to do with Rhos, and there was no way Yasuo would waste any time getting up there.

"Come on," he spoke to his Captain. "You're not out of this yet."

Pressing two buttons, the shinobi would prep the elevator for lift-off as soon as Kain got on the tram. Maybe he'd be able to take care of the three trail-bots as well.

40Dragosani Kain

Kain took two laser blasts from the work drone, the welding beam burned across his left arm. His skin was left black, his shirt held a new fancy duo of lines up his bicep, but no real damage to the Devil himself. Seemed these lazors figured under his natural resistances, woot.

Done with being a beating dummy, Kain shot his wings up into the surrounding bots, pushing them back in surprise. He felt the pang of pain roll through his wings, the impact not doing them much in ways of comfort but the small sacrifice lead to huge rewards. Lowering his head/horns parallel with the ground, it was time to go into....

RAMMING SPEED!

Forward the Devil charged, bowling into the mechanical wall infront of him, taking down three before tripping over the crumpled mass. He was prepared for the trip up and went into a forward roll and continued up onto his feet into a dash, shoving three drones scrambling towards the elevator as he leaped for it.

"Thanks for the help, couldn't have come at a better time."

"Thanks for the save..."

Taking a look around, Canaan noticed that there was an immediate difference between him and his teammates. They weren't all messed up, Kain had a few cuts and burns, Yasuo some bruises - but HE was the one that looked the worst. His left arm hung limp at his side, a laceration ran from his right cheek to his nose, the small of his back had been smacked with a piece of pipe and his upper back bled profusely from a stab wound.

All in all, it seemed like Canaan had become the resident meat shield. Either his tactics and experience made him more prone to these injuries or some god thought it funny to ******** him over as much as humanly possible when his team really needed him.

"You know... guys... I really want to die."

Pain happened to be as abundant right now as the bleeding. Not good. whatever battle followed the elevator ride, Canaan wasn't going to play a very big part in it. It was up to Yasuo and Kain to save Rhos now.

42The Crossed Fox

Kain and Canaan Wrote:

Thanks for the help

"No problem," replied Yasuo in a sly tone.

Whether it was sarcastic or serious on either end, Yasuo had little time for it. His teammates would see what he was like on a regular basis, when it came to rescue missions. It was always get in, get out, take care of anyone who gets in your way. No questions asked, all hostile casualties permitted. It was his way of doing things, as reckless as it may have been at times.

Letting go of the two buttons, a gate would slide down in front of the lift and start a slow ascent up into the higher levels of the Victory. Strangely, some very nice, soothing elevator music. Now it was time for the group to recoup once more before facing the Monster that started this whole thing. It was about time.

When Canaan said that he "Wanted to die", a thought crossed over the shinobi's mind. A quick glance revealed that both he and Kain were in good condition still - out of breath, maybe - but in working condition. Canaan on the other hand looked like he just lost really badly to a set of bulls in a suicide Bullfight. It was either he liked the damage was some sort of masochist on the inside, or he just had some really bad defensive skills. Either way, there was no way in hell that he was going to be able to participate in the carnage upstairs, which set both Yasuo and the Devil at a bit of a disadvantage.

"You sit out then, Canaan. Kain and I have this guy strapped, don't you worry," He smirked. "We'll have Rhos back before you know it, and be on our way home."

And with that, he continued to listen to the AWESOME elevator music. There really was nothing better than this sort of relaxation, at the moment.
