Stage 0: Heaven or Hell Square

General - Bright fluorescent lighting keeps everything well lit,

even at night, assuming you can see through the crowd.

Weapons - Replica diamond katanas.

Natural Element Resource - Overpriced goods.

Bonus Effects - Johnson and Johnson NO MORE TEARS rule in effect.

A twenty-four hour carnival city has seemingly attached itself to the Crimson Hawk Hotel in a parasitic attempt to garner customers. Needless to say, the endeavor was wildly successful this year as was the last. Crowds, while ever-present may thin during certain hours during the night, but they never leave or, apparently, bathe.

Entrance can be made only through the Hotel itself with proof of purchase of a Heaven or Hell tournament ticket. All others, including Press, will be turned away at the gate. The Square grounds are fenced off with high walls from everywhere else to deny those who would just walk in without a ticket.

From the inside, the forty-foot high walls are covered with screens of every imaginable size and shape, closing the festival off with blinking, flickering, flashing incandescent light. Each screen shows clips from the tournament in progress, live fights, clips from last year, and the year before interspersed with ads by Deity Inc., Alpha thru Epsilon Corp., Creation Industries, and The Blazestar Empire.

Square goers, when not being berated with imagery from the omnipresent screens will be yelled at by loud speakers mounted on high poles to tell people periodically what time it is, where there's something interesting going on, when a fight is starting, and even where to turn their attention to watch video of a fight or an advertisement.

Concession stands and vendor stalls make up the body of the Square. Occasionally medical tents and Security Offices can be found in the event of a incident or injury, or to report missing and stolen properties. Men in suits can often be found and interviewed for information if someone needs something and can't be bothered to find it themselves. Security is available at a moments notice thanks in part to the thousands of invisible cameras filming everyone at every moment from every angle.

Every twenty five feet there are brightly colored "You are here" map boards for those who get lost in the knotted chaos of people.

At the center, though, is the heart of the Square. A raised platform twenty feet into the air with railed stairs leading to the top from all sides. The center Square is divided into quarters, each housing a small sunken pit arena for anyone interested in showing their abilities to do so at no cost.

Each arena is many feet into the ground and floored with sand for combatants to entertain while presenting no threat to anyone but themselves and their opponent. While the arenas are open through the top for those to watch from behind a safety rail, it is requested that spectators please refrain from throwing anything into the arenas or at the participants.

Between these pits is the skyrise tower that looks from a distance as a beacon reaching hundreds of feet into the air decorated at every possible place with high definition screens visible from even outside the carnival itself. High above, corporate boxes are mounted within this tower to watch and plan out of the reach of the common public; off limits to everyone.

Welcome to HoH Square.

2Tres Ecstuffuan

smilies/icon_arrow.gif Sometime before the ball

Tres has been restless after the red carpet ball had ended, he decided that rather than go to all the after parties at the Crimson hawk he would come out into the carnival city to engage in the very reason he decided to come to latent. Tres wasn't here to make friends but he was here to make a statement through both the medium of combat and word of mouth. The tall heroic looking dread headed warrior stood high on the edge of the sunken pit arena where all of the camera's would catch him. He was dressed in his combat attire, complete with the silvery protective overcoat that still seemed to cling somewhat tightly to his wide muscular frame. His eyes throbbed with a subtle green light as he gazed out into the surrounding crowds with his lips moistened and prepared to speak.

The crowds were hungry for any sort of spectacle that could be granted to them and Tres decided that this would be a good time to use that anticipation to put himself and the society out there. He began to pace back and fourth, brandishing his million dollar smile to make the crowd go wild. Tres's time on Team Lu-Bu had left him with a measure of popularity despite his disappearance after the 09 tournament. The crowd was anxious to here what the dread headed son of the legend was going to say. Slowly Tres brought the mic up to his mouth and began to speak. His voice boomed out through the speakers of the square, deep and yet smooth like the rolling thunder through the heavens.

"I have returned to the tournament scene and I bring a message to all of you people out there. I have come back with insight into my true strength, I've come to realize that I am a part of a select elite few in Gaia Prime.

The psychic's, the psions, the creatures of the mind...are the future rulers of this world as its most superior beings. Me and the Emerald Eye Society are here to protect these chosen one's and bring them together to bring out the true potential of the enlightened mind.

This Heaven or Hell I'm going to show each and every one of you, why we psions are the superior beings worthy of admiration and respect.", the crowd would resound with an almost all consuming boo, shouting curses at the haughty warrior who preached about his absolute genetic superiority. The emerald crystal third eye on his forehead glistened in the bright lights of the square, marking the sign of Tres and his ilk.

3Unique Bliss

"Superior, eh?" A crooked smile spread across the Executioner's face, splitting from ear to ear, and hiding underneath his Skeletal Visage. Darius had went through a change since the last time people had saw him in battle, and Dzan was the main reason behind that small factor. Engaging the Cyberpunk had probably been the biggest mistake the behemoth had made, and the smartest at the same time. Brawling with the man had earned him his Daemon name, but, Darius had paid an arm, and a leg. Quite literally. Replacing his loss with two cybernetic limb(s), and paid a pretty penny for each.

Chnnk.

Darius' right leg snapped into place, and his left leg followed. Bringing him up, and standing amongst the crowd. Using his cybernetic arm(right), he reached for the enormous piece of metal that had been laid perfectly against the empty seat next to him, and wrapped his hand around it. Each finger snapping to life, and gripping the weapon roughly. "That doesn't sit too well with me." Escaped the depth of his helmet as he made his way through the crowd. Stepping over people, and even on some of the smaller spectator(s). Once he reached the edge of the pit, he reached for his axe, and grabbed onto a pull chord. Yanking it, and starting the roar of the engine attached to it. Which caused a chain reaction of pluming smoke, and the rotation of the bladed chain around the blade of the axe. Gripping the handle of the weapon, and squeezing it roughly. Winding up the blade on the weapon, and causing quite the terrifying sound.

Darius raised his free hand, and pointed it at the man. "I've got a bone to pick with you, punk!" Was shouted, and then he leaped into the Arena. Landing with a crash, and cackling madly. Located inside of that cybernetic arm was a familiar gem, and if anyone had ever faced Dzan... They would know exactly what it was. Sparking to life, and activating that anti-magic goodness. Just in case his opponent decided to pull some bullshit.

Oh, and Darius was black. Because Naota requested it.

4Tres Ecstuffuan

"Superior, Eh?"

Tres looked up towards the sound of the voice that cut through the ferocious roar of the crowd. His eyes zipped sharply trying to pinpoint the figure who made the comment. As his eyes fell upon the skull face his brow lowered in a show of aggressive intentions. Tres naturally began to examine Darius. He was missing an arm and a leg, with the design of the cybernetics similar to a man Tres had met and fought with before. Dzan Straea. The cyberpunk had left a following in Gaia Prime and due to his yard of punker rejects he had a lot of imitators.

"Pathetic...", Tres uttered allowed as he stepped back and subtly squared up. Tres almost could have guessed what followed after Darius said his next piece. The tell-tale roar of the automatic weapon screamed across the arena drowning out the sound of the plebeian hoots and hollers. As darius leaped into the ring shouting Tres leaped away into the pit. He spotted the gem on the man's auto-mail, completing the mental puzzle which he didn't have to state out loud. As Tres leaped back he would inhale and his eyes to glow with a fantastic emerald light. Whisp of grey cords of energy would spread about his body, changing it. His skin took on a green almost scaly texture for a single moment before he vomitted forth suddenly, hurtling a speeding ball of thick looking liquid about the size of a football at his opponent.

Wrote:

Virulent Breath [Psychometabolism]

[Standard - 7 points]

Using psionic energy to produce a gland in the mouth that produces a special type of acid that can burn through even the thickest steel yet does not damage Tres's body, Tres can project a hurtling ball of acid from his mouth at startling speeds. This acid can burn through all but the most resistant material and is volatile to all types of flesh besides his own.

As the opponent leaped to the arena he would be hard pressed to evade the shot of acid. Tres utilized his psychometabolic abilities to change his body and give it an ability that could not be effected by the opponents anti-magic defenses. Likely the opponent would assume it was some fancy woo-woo st, when it was really more like some fancy xeno st and attempt to block it since that was what he was used to doing against meta's.

The volley of acid would explode and drench Darius's entire body, burning through whatever it touched. Tres's intentions wasn't to damage the opponent as much as damage the mechanic parts that covered him, including his chain axe. Maybe the acid wouldn't burn through the weapon completly but it was likely that it would burn through the chain's that operated its sawing function. Similarly his limbs would be effected, perhaps not destroying them but harming the sensitive electronics that operated them. Also his skin would burn like hell.

Tres would land with his feet bent in his ready stance. His left foot was forward with his right hand up by his face guarding his tucked chin. His left hand was held low near his floating ribs while both of his elbows were held close to the body. He bounced lithely on the balls of his feet while his posture was erect. His shoulders were relaxed and his head bobbed subtly with the rhythm of his movement.

Darius' cackling only continued, and boomed out further than before. Echoing through the large stadium, and drowning out the chanting of those who were watching the event take place. Upon landing; he was quick to realize his opponent had somehow regurgitated a form of acid, and shot it out of his mouth. Seeing as his opponent had timed it perfectly, there was really nothing Darius could do, and instead of flailing about trying to avoid the attack. Darius simply stood there, and let the attack collide with his chest. Splattering across his armor, yet, his psychotic grin only grew further.

Darius too had a trick like this, and if his Chaos Armour could withstand the acidic liquid that escaped his own mouth. His opponent's vomit-stuff wouldn't be any different, and it would simply slide off of his armor onto the ground. Boiling the very ground they stood on, and only forcing Darius to laugh harder. However; if it was somehow a lot stronger than his own poison(I'll let you be the judge of that), Darius would do nothing, and would let it melt through his armor. Revealing his red and bronze smelted skin.

"I'm the n*a. That all you otha niggas look up as a Fatha figure." Darius spoke once more, and then stepped forward. Waiting for the man in front of him to react on his attack doing absolutely nothing, and or doing a little victory dance that it melted away some of his armor. Eventually, Darius would kick off across the ground, and propel himself forward with unbelievable speed. Once he began running, the muscle in his non-cybernetic leg swelled greatly, granting him tremendous strength, and allowed it to keep up with the force generated by the cybernetic one. Darius was aiming to charge directly into his opponent, and just before he did; the Executioner would ck back his axe, and swing it at full force toward the man's leg. Squeezing the handle on his machine the entire time, and winding it up for the attack. Yes, Darius was aiming to remove the leg of Tres.

6Tres Ecstuffuan

Tres understood that the enemy intended fully to end his life and he was about to fight like it. The chain sword was not a weapon made for exhibitions, it was a thing of utter brutality. Therefore, Tres would give this man no quarter and the mental locks put on himself to keep from murdering his opponent in the heaven or hell would be discarded with but a single thought made about the time the opponent began to talk s**t. Tres wasn't really listening to him, just examining him with his intense blue eyes. He spoke suddenly, interrupting Darius as if his line of thought could not help but to escape into words.

"Your style...or if you even want to call it that...Is worthless. Your just an unoriginal idiot with overpriced toys. ******** bring it.", Tres spoke confidently as he stood ready mentally preparing his next move. The opponent would watch as Tres's left hand dipped into his coat, hiding something or perhaps nothing at all.

A smirk grew on Tres's face as he snapped his right hand forward as the opponent cocked back, his right hand unleashed a small crystal shard about the same shape as a throwing knife seemingly out of thin air. The knife throw was aimed at the opponents throat, the bendable area between his chest armor and his helmet. The opponents guard wasn't up as he cocked his axe back leaving him with no way to guard it and no way to evade it because of his committed dash.

Simultaneously as his right hand extended his body would move evasively by making a sharp displacement of his position. He moved with lithe steps along the ground made with perfect timing against the opponents forward dash to cause the opponent's attack to miss. THe chain axe would run screaming low in front of Tres just outside of its range.

Tres would step back into southpaw stance to his right with his knees bent deeply. The opponent would likely be off balance because of the heavy axe swing and confused because of the fact that he would soon have another breathing hole in his body.

Tink.

Was the exact sound of Darius' opponent's attack bouncing off the durable armor that coated his entire body. Shard falling toward the ground, and not harming the suited Executioner whatsoever. Chaos Armour was quite unique, once granted it will become fused with the wearer's body, after which it may never be removed and will become a second skin, incorporating within itself all the the physical corruption(s) and mutation(s) of the wearer.

Only more mad cackling escaped the skeletal visage of the Executioner, and it simply got louder as the crazed a*****e drew closer. Unluckily for Tres, Darius cybernetic arm was quite intelligent, and picked on the percentage of the attack missing. Artificial muscle coming to a screaming halt, and withdrawing the attack before the swing had officially started. Instead; Darius just continued with his charge, and raised his non-artificial knee. Aiming to skew Tres with an armored spiked knee, and if it continued on this devastating course it would collide with his opponent's stomach.

"Your mother is a musk rat!" Was blurted out as Darius assumed his knee smashed into his opponent.

8Fiend The Bunny

Ssssshhhh

The Webway Portal opened, the black and silver mass of electric and energy releasing itself into the square.

From the portal came a figure, the darkness closing behind him as he stood and peered out toward the Chaos Space Marine battling a denizen of this realm. With a sigh the Eldar rose his spear, and it suddenly burst into a powerful field of energy. The Executioner class spear, a power spear if you will.

The disrupting energy field closed only the spear head, and when he took steps forward and chucked it at the back of the Chaos Space Marine, victory was assured. The powerful spear flew through the air at rapid speeds, far faster then expected from a thrown weapon.

Unless his opponent could dodge it, he'd die. As the disrupting power field would shred his pathetic armor, and end his pathetic life in one movement. If he dodged, it would hardly be the end of the attack.

Drawing from a hip holster came a Shuriken Pistol, which fired a flesh-tearing hail of razor-sharp discs by means of a gravitic accelerator similar to the gravitic motors; hard to comprehend but devastating. He began to fire at his target, and if he moved he would track him.

Death was assured.

9Unique Bliss

Seeing as Darius was rather occupied with attacking the man in front of him, he didn't even think to keep an eye out for anyone that planned on disrupting their fight, and so the Eldar was correct about assuming his victory.

Spear, let me introduce you to back, back, meet spear.

An excruciating yell escaped the mouth of the Executioner, and it quickly died down. Until nothing came out of his mouth, although as much as he thought he was screaming, he actually wasn't. If that wasn't over kill enough for the Eldar, his gun caused even more brutality, and Darius fell. Into multiple piece(s).

Game over.

10Glass Raivyn

Isabella Colt stood idly by, tucked within the far recesses of the crowd surrounding the sandpit. She watched as the fight unfolded. For the most part, the former Assassin found the conflict uninteresting, and was about to leave when a third individual entered the fray.

A soft breath of air escaped her as she examined this newest arrival. Slowly she raised her right, gloved hand to the hem of her hood, tugging on the cowl some. The shadowy pool which shrouded the upper portion of her facial features lengthened to conceal everything but her soft lips – which were fixed into a displeased frown.

The air around Isabella stirred, swelling momentarily as her mind brushed against the large, two-handed sword strapped across her backside. In response, the former Assassin’s heavy cloak rustled, drawing more attention to her than the unusual breeze that suddenly churned around her.

In an instant she arrived at the lip of the arena, making her way through the crowd with little, to no real difficulty.

For a few moments Isabella simply stood there, soaking in the ambient noises and the scene in front of her. Once that brief pause passed, she shook her head and sighed loud enough to easily draw the attention of everyone near to her location.

“Pathetic,” Isabella remarked, closing her eyes.

The former Assassin made no indication as to whom she was speaking to. It was not until she opened her eyes that she shifted her head wholly towards the man that had entered through the portal.

“Unless I am mistaken, this bout was between those two individuals,” the former Assassin began, gesturing with a subtle shift and incline of her head towards the Psion and the heavily armored, now fractured man. “By what right did you have to intervene? Is the Psion a companion? Did you fear for his life in some way?”

Although her deep brown eyes were hidden within the depths of her hood, it was not difficult to feel her stern gaze as she spoke. In truth, there was no correct answer to any of Isabella’s questions. To her there was no reason to interfere like this man had.

11Fiend The Bunny

((I'll fight ya Glass, but I'd like to mention both his Space Marine, and on the flip, my Eldar is extremely over powered. I killed him cause Tres didn't want to go on, and I wanted to get rid of the OP! If your okay with you likely dying, I'll still fight. Otherwise I'm just gonna have him run.))

12Glass Raivyn

((If you would like, I can use Isabella's full and original Character set up. That'd likely even the playing field and give us a little more fun. Otherwise, you could just take off. This just seemed like something Isabella, if she saw, would step in on and throw in her opinion. ^^ Your choice. I'm fine regardless.))

13Tenkai Matsumoto

Meanwhile, somewhere in an apartment, someone had witnessed the fight between Tres and Darius via live internet broadcast from the Heaven or Hell Square's hidden cameras.

14Tres Ecstuffuan

Someone had suddenly appeared from a portal, an elf of some sort after Tres twisted his waist in a counterclockwise turn to evade the knee. Had the fight not been interrupted Tres would have stopped the knee with a teep, producing a stop hit that would utilize offense to defend against offense but for now the inevitable injury Tres would recieve in this battle wasn't going to be worth it especially with the tournament was so near. So after the assassin had stepped from the crowd to question the interruption, Tres would exit the Arena as quickly as he could to get prepared for the red carpet ball.

15Fiend The Bunny

The Eldar turned to the woman, peering blankly at her. His helmet hiding any sign of what he was, or what his motions were. He holstered his pistol and pulled his spear from its victim, he then placed the end against the ground like a staff and turned to her fully; squaring up with the woman.

"You are of no concern to this dispute, the story is not yours to understand, nor is your planet or universe relevant to our struggles."

The Eldar then was surrounded by the black energy, the lighting shooting off its form in bursts as it diminished in size rapidly. Eventually, he was no longer there. Nothing but the remains of a Chaos Space Marine and the confused look of some of the bystanders.

16agedhero

A tall man entered the HoH square trailed by a strange, wet stench and a few unrecognizable breeds of dog. The man was quite tall, with a medium build, and covered in dark brown plated armour which was fabricated in an eastern style. His hair was unruly and coarse, a dark raven blue colour with lighter tones at the tips. It draped over his forehead and down his back, uncombed yet smooth and healthy looking.

He had various sheaths aligned down his back and hips, housing his terrible blades and, along with his wild hair, cast a rather demonic looking silhouette. He wore a thick kimono underneath his armour, a lighter brown than the plates of steel that covered his torso, and was torn and rugged along the bottom edge that hung a few inches above his ankles. On his feet were a pair of simple tattered sandals.

As he surveyed the area more mongrels started to appear, as well as a few children. The children, not unlike the mongrels, were unrecognizable in race and age. Their faces were covered with dirt, and their clothes tattered enough to be androgynous. These were the man's strays. His pack. And they followed him wherever he would go, for he was the Dog Brother.
