Gaian News Radio Station Wrote:

Essentially, what you have here, is your typical Gaian News Radio station. However, instead of actually bitching about people's fighting abilities and listening to people b***h about other people's fighting abilities, they decided to watch the carnage live, and broadcast it from the next room while watching it through protective glass.

-Insert Interview Room Picture Here-

Terrain

General - A round room with a table and some chairs in the middle. Protective glass separates you and your opponent from the other room where spectators gather to watch the carnage.

Natural Element Resource - Lots and lots of sound amplification going on.

Weapons - Chairs, the tables, broadcasting equipment such as microphones, computers, and the cords attaching it all.

Bonus Effects - Every thing that is said is heard publicly.

"This is Mirranda Veracruz De La Hoya Cardinal, coming to you live from Gaia News! I am currently here with a Heaven or Hell veteran which most are familiar with, more women than men... I'm sure. Cris Reinhart!"

The sounds of claps and cheering followed the introduction, obviously from the onlookers and some added sound to the radio. Reinhart sat opposite of Mirranda in the small room, a microphone pulled down to his face, he waved to everyone watching and threw a wink or two here and there.

"Thank you Mirranda, it's good to be here." His voice was like silk, soft and smooth, he held a smile resting his elbow on the table and his chin on his palm.

"So tell us, what exactly is happening here today? From what w hear it's a preliminary round fight, a qualifier if you will to enter the prestigious Heaven or Hell tournament."

"That's right. I'm currently here waiting on my opponent, which is quite a mystery really for I think this may be his first or maybe second time competing."

"A new face you say? How exciting! Who do you think will win?"

"I believe he's new but I'm sure he's got skill, I can't tell what going to happen but that's what makes the tournament fun after all." Reinhart gave Mirranda a wink.

"Ever the lady killer aren't you Mr. Reinhart? I suppose that's why there's always rumors about you sparking up flames with the female roster of Heaven or Hell."

A melodic laugh escaped him at the somewhat true accusation. "Well I wouldn't go THAT far but you know those rumors..." He stuck his tongue out feigning ignorance.

"Rumors... Riiiiight." Mirranda stretched out the word and rolled her eyes knowing full well what he was capable of. "We're all excited here at Gaia News to see the Captain of LMD square off against his first opponent, stay tuned for the live transmission as we bring the fight to you live only hear at Gaia News!"

"Aannndd cut." Said one of the directors. "Good job everyone, we'll be back on in 4 minutes.

"I suppose I better hit the stage then, can't be long until Mr. Penridge arrives." Reinhart said as he stood from his seat and headed for the door to the next room.

"Good luck Captain Sexy." Mirranda said throwing Reinhart a smile and a wink.

"I'm sure I'll need it." He laughed as he exited the room and entered what was to be the stage of the preliminary round. Hevaen or Hell started for Reinhart... Now.

2Death By Kaiju

Tack. Tack. Tack. He was on time. As always. Walking through the radio station, eyes followed his pacing steps; his strides and general manner exuded a confidence that turned heads. Literally. Secretaries and tech crew alike kept him in their view as he traversed the sound filled corridors, his stick echoing across the lobby.

Penridge wasn't a particularly arrogant man, at least he thought not, but to feel his presence generate such influence among the proles did help to strengthen his superiority; not to mention help keep his heart still. His first tournament. The appeal was almost droll- battling the world's greatest combatants...and to come out on top! Of course, he was no stranger to fighting- his position as a so-called Crime Lord dictated that he got his hands bloody; it was Penridge's position amongst the bourgeois that allowed him to keep them clean. An odd lifestyle, but one that ensured dominance.

Nathaniel was small; but what he lacked in stature he made up for in confidence. He took lengthy strides, undeterred by his attention- all that mattered to him now was battling. The first time his social peers would see the great Nathaniel Penridge lash out violently. To rivals, and his victims, another warning. Not just a face of a brutal organisation, but an erratic duelist whose cruelty hardly met any bounds; if it did, it would shake hands, of course.

With a single push, he opened a door into a small room. Filled with spectators, and fans of his enemy. He batted away cheers nonchalantly, casually handing his fine jacket to a nearby woman, revealing a tight fitting vest, and silken shirt. With a short pause, and head held high, Penridge strode into his arena, nodding to his opponent.

"Good afternoon, Mr Reinhart."

A Word on the Criminal Mindset of Gaia Major

An Essay by Griff Morivan

Published by Barton Times Monthly, July 2010

  • - Gaia Major, the four cities and the outlaying systems throughout our nation, have been plagued by an odd sort of menace for a number of years. Serious, deadly, but at the same time, a very specific kind of ridiculous. Of a preposterous and entirely stupid variety of ridiculous.
  • - Before I begin, I should note, I am not a typical columnist to this publication. This is my first article that was sent up for print, and I do not follow the standards of this publication's typical behavior. I am a professional fighter, on the road to retirement. Just can't settle down just yet. And yeah, I'm the same guy with the big metal arm from Heaven or Hell O'10, the same arm that got lopped off the year before. Yes, I am big into politics and current events.
  • - But returning to the aforementioned menace that has plagued us. Many of you will be familiar with the prevalence of criminal elements. Specifically, small groups of people referring to themselves as 'Organizations' or 'Syndicates'. And these groups, by and large, are ******** retarded. They call themselves these big bad names, but when you get right down to the heart of the matter, nine out of ten of these groups are six or seven people who run around and just kill people at random.
  • - But now here is the catch. It's not like they kill people of their caliber. No, these are usually powered citizens, meta humans, or people with enough money to be considered Metas in their own right. Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are supers, after all, even if they're perfectly normal. These people use their powers, whatever they be, to pick on those without power, and intimidate others who're weaker, and even ward off those who are as strong or stronger than them.
  • - Why?
  • - Because they are giant.
  • - .
  • - Cowards.
  • - Kinda funny, ain't it? Big bad hardasses acting like schoolyard bullies with guns and fireballs. And there are a few that have made themselves more than well known. And sure, a couple actually have some folks backing them. Like, Venom Signet. Everyone knows about VS. And they've got numbers. And they do everything from drugs to weapons dealings to the aforementioned murders. But for every Venom Signet, and of legitimate organizations dedicated to ne'er-do-welling, I can name three, there are two dozen jerkass morons trying to compare.
  • - Why? The next natural question is, why so many monsters are coming out of the woodwork in modern society? Moral degradation? Hardly. No, when it comes right down to it, the reason that more meta humans and rich brats grow up to be baddies these days is simple. Contrarianism.
  • - Twenty years ago, when I was eleven, I was a huge fan of heroes. Successive heroes started to take on a more, Chaotic Good or Chaotic Neutral stance. The Anti-Heroes of the nineties. But at that point, there was only one place for the kids after me to go. If the old people were all upstanding citizens, and the adults that keep us down now are the anti-heroes, than we must become what they hate. And villains they become.
  • - Villain, by the way, is the wrong word. I have a lot of respect for some villains. Hell, evildoing is an ancient and well traditioned sport. No, kids today are nothing but petulant whelps, acting like monsters. And I have little regard for saying anything like this. Never mind the fact that I'm well known to have powers and so forth. Like I said before, unless you're powerless, or a total nobody, these 'syndicates' are nothing but cowards.
  • - So what can we do to take down these idiot villains who want nothing but to torment others? Fight back. Groups like the Gaian Police Department, the Aekean Defense League, these groups will arm those too poor to fight back on their own, and give them equipment to stand up one on one with these crime jackasses. After a few months of people really standing up for themselves, these punks will turn tail and run for the hills, and we'll be on for a new generation of heroes.
  • - They're nothing but children, after all.

Jack looked over the document, and then over to the radio tuned into the fight between the famed fighter Cristopher Reinhart, and some idiot he'd never heard of. The leader of the Scarlet Suns chuckled, thinking on the words of his murdered adversary, and then over to the head placed on his mantle, The skull of Griff Morivan.

"...guess I'm one of those jerk a** bullies. Hahahaha!"

4Cthulhu Wish

Through the glass I sat and watched the Redhaired man that was on my Mistress's team. He was ready for any sort of combat that was going to be launched his way. I of course, was responsible to ensure that he did infact gave it his entire being within this match.

Ruffling my feathers I sat between the two commentators and watched intently. If Reinhart failed this match, than I would have my way with him. With my webbed toes I would claw his very eyes out and wear them as decorative earrings for the holes on the side of my head. This man needed to deem himself worthy to even be associated with my Lady Izette, and this was a perfect opportunity...

5Cristopher Reinhart

With his arms spread wide Reinhart welcomed his soon to be opponent, the gesture was more than that however as everyone vacated the room. There was a good amount of room to move around, given the equipment still littering the stage. A table in the center, four chairs around it, some microphones, and various other pieces of equipment lining the walls. Not to mention the wires strung about the floor hooking up this to that.

"Afternoon Mr. Penridge and welcome to our stage, I hope you came prepared since this is going to be broadcast live."

A fight broadcast over a radio, the commentators were ready to give the play by plays, the sound guys eager to work their magic. Only problem was maybe the censorship, though Reinhart wasn't sure if there was any.... Over a speaker high on the wall came a voice.

"We're ready too begin whenever you are boys." The voice belonged to Mirranda.

"You heard the lady."

On the walls a green light lit up, the words inscribed on the green block read "On Air", the fight was on and at the same time the announcement was going on.

"We're coming to you live from Gaia News where the preliminary fight between Reinhart and Nathaniel Penridge is about to begin. We're in for an exciting fight folks so hold on to your seats and cover your kids ears. This is going to get messy, loud, and probably bloody.... QUICK!"

Through the glass Reinhart spotted a familiar face. Reggie. It appears the avian gentleman was here to assess his mistress' Captain, that little devil. With a crooked smile Reinhart gripped the table in the center of the room and flung it to one side of the wall. It hit with a loud thud and landed in a heap with a couple of thuds and clanks. The chairs closest to Nathaniel spread with the flinging of the table and Reinhart had a path to his opponent.

"And the fight's ON!"

At the same time Reinhart asked himself. "Heaven or Hell?"

Without warning Reinhart kicked the chair closest to him with a swift soccer style kick. The piece of furniture flew through the air aimed to strike Nathaniel square in the mid section/face and with a quick dash he followed behind it. With his fist cocked he looked to catch Nathaniel by surprise and would follow up with a gruesome punch. Either he'd follow the man's dodge or come right behind the chair after it hit or was deflected.

A chair flew, fist was cocked back like the hammer on a gun and when it struck it would strike at Nathaniel's face with surprising strength. If struck the man would more than likely be forced back and against the protective glass separating the fighters from the on lookers. Now the stage was set and the short round had officially begun.

Nathaniel steeled himself as his opponent acted, showing incredible strength as he effortlessly threw the table aside. It was a shame he was so quick to cut past formalities, however, especially since the battle was broadcasting live. This, could become problematic; Nathaniel would have to remain on the defensive, lest he show the world his brutality. Of course, his stupid opponent had made the first move- his impending actions were justified.

With a flourish, Nathaniel raised his cane horizontally, gripping close to the ends with both hands, thumbs running across the stick itself. In turn, he also shifted his stance slightly to the left, placing his left foot ahead, but dividing weight equally.

Eyeing his opponent, Nathaniel was surprised to see the chair fly towards him with such speed; lowering his head slightly he lifted the cane, letting the chair collide with a hearty smack, his stance preventing any upsets.

Without remorse, Reinhart had charged ahead, one fist raised. His cane's position meant that Nathaniel would be able to either block the blow, or launch an attack from either side. He stepped forward on his right leg, while simultaneously letting go of the cane with his left hand; its spiked tip jutting ahead in its arc. Ideally, this would prevent his opponent from moving forward, allowing Nathaniel to meet him on his own terms.

Like a cane would stop him. Right fist cocked back, left arm forward, the cane met resistance and slammed or pierced onto or into his left forearm. The entire room would resound with a loud clank which may have surprised Nathaniel for surely under Reinhart's jacket there was some sort of metal. Throwing his left arm outward he deflected the spiked stick to the same side and Reinhart took another step before he slid to a halt reaching for Nathaniel's right wrist with his left hand, gripping like a vice, pulling the man, and brought his cocked fist down, under, and into the man's gut.

Aimed for the solar plexus he wouldn't stop there having his opponent in grasp, both of them occupied with an opposite arm, one gripped and one gripping. Reinhart pulled his fist back slightly brought it over and launched a hook right into Nathaniel's jaw pulling with his left arm bringing the man even closer. At this point they should have been inches from each other and again Reinhart pulled his right arm back and brought it down upon his opponent once more.

This time however he bent his arm at the elbow and drove a good length of his arm, mainly his forearm and elbow into Nathaniel's neck. Forcing the weight behind the blow on his opponent he let go of his wrist in an attempt to drive him back and away, either onto the floor or against the protective glass. Every step, every strike, fast, fluid, and precise.
