Tornado Valley

General - When stepping into this room, one appears to have entered a small flat of abandoned farmland in some Midwest province. All that remains under the holographic dark slate sky is a roofless barn, a rusted and broken tractor, and numerous old farming tools. Of course, never to miss an opportunity to give its competitors the most EXTREEEM CHALLENGES™, the Committee has installed 4 industrial-grade wind generators at each corner of the room, simulating the experience of being on the outskirts of an F2 tornado.

Natural Element Resource - Better call Bill Paxton for all that wind - also, lots of flying dirt.

Weapons - Wooden boards and planks, farm tools (pitch forks, shovels, sickles, buckets, etc.), nails, rocks, tractor parts.

Bonus Effects - Though the winds aren't powerful enough to bowl a fully-balanced person over, becoming unbalanced (whether purposefully or not) will likely result in some killer airtime. Also, watch out for random projectiles!

2Sins of an Angel

It was so hard to be enthusiastic, to be excited about the tournament as a whole and not simply just the first round. Raien carried at the core, more than just butterflies, fluttering nervously in anticipation for the bout to come. She remained ever stoic though in the face of fear, for that was the best course of action - for right now at least. The Ark unsettled here, and the sorceress was hardly thrilled to fight within one of it's many establishments.

The lineup had been mostly established by way of brief memo, and something about not having seen any of her teammates in person since the night of the Ball frustrated her. With a clear, calm mind and somber mood, all despite her jitters, Raien entered the arena that her team had been assigned to compete in and took a good hard look at what laid out before her. It was a little surprising to see a normal arena, or normal at least in the tradition of Heaven or Hell, as opposed to anything else her mind could possibly come up with and though it did very little to assuage her subconscious worries - it satisfied some of her nervousness for the time being.

The arena was no less odd, and a little daunting what with the sweeping farm-scape and whipping winds kicking up dirt, and other random debris. There out on the field was the remains of some kind of farm house or a working shed, and of course the obligatory tractor, even if it looked unsuitable for work any longer.

As it stood she was the first to arrive and saw no sight of anyone else. So, with her staff in hand, Rai planted her behind on the first stable stack of hay, grass and heavens knew what else - and waited.

3The Great Absolute

Glory... Nevermore

Theme: Lords Of The Deep

Smog-

It came whipping from his agape maw as he brushed past Raine much like a wraith in the night. Only the cold feeling of his presence would be felt as he marched forward through the dancing field. A subtle delight came washing over his pale visage, as he grinned a violent grin. The sharp contours of his perfect teeth were evident as they plunged into the soft black wrap of his cigar- Unstained by the toxic substance that brewed between... The engines of the distant fans boomed through his mind, his resonance felt the electricity that fueled them, and more so felt the eyes of the world upon him. He was the forgotten God; forsaken in destitute upon his crumbling world... Once again he came to claim the world that slipped through his crushing grasp. Aware that the world he coveted had moved on upon expelling him, he knew the fighters and heroes of this generation had forgotten him; only knowing of his name- Like a bogey man or a fabled legend- Well... He was here to put the stories to the test- He would bring his opponent to the brink and back.

The daunting overcoat that adorned his perfect frame whipped out violently into the wind- This was a surprise because of the added weight, which wasn't evident except through his menacing stride through the field. Ertai had his eye on the chantey-tab barn that stood in the middle of the synthetically set up scenario.

"Come to me Rayner Veli..."

He whispered out into the wind... His dark voice made no effort to reach the ears of anyone else except his own. Feeding his own self-satisfaction; his mind was fueling the madness that only wished one thing.

  • The death of his opposition.

Ertai would reach the barn and swing open the old doors in one large sweep of his arms. The inside was filled with rusted implements- These tools would only cause the gears to turn in Ertai's complex mind...and with that it would happen. His pale eyes lit alive as he begun to channel his psychokinetic energy; darkness poured from his masked grasp as he walked into the darkened building. The loud whistling and violent clattering of the tools of the walls would drown out nearly all sound...

He found his place... Crossing his arms he would turn and face the open door- His massive shoulders expressed his military stance, his cold eyes expressed the roiling energy that was brewing beneath... Once again he spoke... Whispering to the wind... His cold voice damned his opponent.

"Come to me Rayner Veli..."

"Come to me Rayner Veli..." Instantly the tone sharpened and boomed from his lips.

"Come to me RAYNER VELI."

Ertai snarled in his own moment. The voices circling the vicious waters of the mind- He would embody the tormentor of this world, and once the tournament was over... He planned on collecting each and every soul from every fighter in this tournament... Fueling his insatiable hunger for power, his taste for absolute control...

Dominion never rejected it...

Ertai relished it...

Glory was eternal... Nevermore for his opposition...

The sky was pleasantly dark, the clouds seemed to be on Valkyrie's side this evening. Even if they weren't she'd come prepared; all of her skin was covered except for her face and fingers. She wore a black, clingy long sleeve turtle neck, gloves whose fingers had been cut off, and a pair of stretchy black pants tucked into knee high combat boots. Her outfit was designed to allow for maximum flexibility and movement as well as protect her from the sun and the elements which were particularly formidable this evening. The blades were well hidden under the sleeves of her shirt, fastened to her middle finger and ready to protrude forward with a flick of her wrist.

She was waiting, crouched froggy style on the broken down tractor within the four walls of the roofless barn, when Ertai arrived. Her arms were raised above her to rest on a loose beam for support she honestly didn't need; her balance was impeccable. One hand lowered to retrieve her cigarette and she listened to Ertai mutter to himself, crimson eyes rolling behind rebellious strands of raven hair as he chanted.

Come to me Rayner Veli...

Smoke bellowed from her nostrils. You're such a drama queen, Ertai. She mused from her place behind him as she ashed her cigarette with a well-practiced flick.

5superpsyco77

It was quite unlike Vanessa to be late to anything, rather she was...fashionably late. That term really didn't help get the point through so perhaps some clarification was in order. She was late -because- of her fashion. As it stood the young upstart on team Rejection of Glory was also perhaps the most well armored combatant in the whole tournament this year, and she made it a point to dress herself in her battle regalia when she arrived on the scene of the tournament grounds.

If you have ever tried to put a suit of armor on in a mock tornado you too would know how expressly difficult it was.

Still stumbling in was Vanessa Da'Fluer, twisting and fumbling as she struggled to fit her breastplate on over her undershirt and secure all the clasps and fasteners. Once she had it all on she would more than likely be a little better off than most, seeing as she was adding almost an entire extra person unto her frame in solid metal plating, but that didn't make it any harder. bit by bit, piece by piece her armor fastened together into one coherent suit, the din of the fake storm around her muffling the metallic clinks and clacks as she prepared herself. Her greaves and boots were secure, breastplate was finally finished, and even though she had nearly lost her shield to a strong gust she had managed to get it fitted snugly unto her Left arm. with her spear in hand and her hair tied quite well and indeed to the back of her head Vanessa was ready to fight should the need arise.

"S-sorry to be late Miss Raein! It's...ugh, difficult to say the least to try and prepare in these conditions. Have I missed the opening exchange?" it might have come as a surprise for poor Raien to simply find her teammate suddenly upon her, but these winds could even mask an armored woman tramping about with little regard for subtlety.

6Sins of an Angel

Had the wind not been loud enough to cover any real sounds besides those of the clinking of tools from inside the shed, or the whipping and whistling from the winds itself - Raien might have heard multiple people arrive to the arena and finally cure her small bout of loneliness. Well, she hadn't really been lonely, but sitting by yourself and waiting for people was certainly no fun task. First, the opposing team's captain, as registered by her FIGHTER, blaring and blinking at her with the displayed knowledged. Second came another member of the other team, a woman named Valkyrie. A name strangely ironic, for a creature of the night - the undead. The tall, lanky female was a vampire, and already, without having to speak or know anything about each other, she had earned the mage's ire. Raien had a fairly justified loathing for the undead, not that it was any fault of Valkyrie's who was simply here to compete like everyone else. It was an unfortunate result of past events.

After a good twenty minutes had passed, another arrived and Raien turned just in time to see one of her own finally show. It was a relief to be among an ally, and she hoped the others would be along soon enough. She greeted Vanessa with an easy smile and a little wave.

"Good to see you made it! I wouldn't really say you're late, I just got a little bit ahead of myself, I think. You haven't missed much. So far, our opposition lay in wait. I think they want us to act first." She pointed off, across the field at the roofless barn, just barely hanging on in the midst of such strong winds. Sitting down certainly helped to hold one's balance, but it would be a whole different game once she started fighting.

7Tei Kae

"So who is it exactly that we're fighting, cowboy?" Estée teased as they headed towards the room on the ark, both of them trying to ignore the overblown excess. They'd already discussed their opposition the night before when they'd received the information. She wrapped an arm around his for a second then leaned up, giving the scarred man who was her husband a kiss on the cheek before they stepped into the room and saw their other team mates.

Things hadn't exactly been settled between her and Vanessa, but it was at a tolerable level and she gave the woman a polite nod before giving a smile to Raien even as she overheard what the woman was saying and where she was pointing. At that, the ginger couldn't help it and flat out snorted; not a husky chuckle or girlish giggle, a flat out snort.

"They either think we're stupid or ...well, honestly, that's the only reason I could imagine that they'd expect us to go there. With that, she released her husband's arm and cupped her hands, trying to be heard over the wind; luckily she knew how to project her voice well though she'd never thought it would become a handy talent in this type of situation.

"Hey Sovereign, the party is outside!", even as she fought the tendrils of hair that wanted to escape from the bun of hair at her nape.

8Psychofish

The last few days had not been short for Rayner. Every other year, the tournament had been charged. He'd played for serious goals, to better himself, to be close enough to protect another. But it had always been a game, something with a sort of joyous thrill involved. He didn't feel that anymore. Good and bad together, if anything it had simply reminded him of why he had come back this year rather than finally retire. It made him feel like an old man, to stand where all that thrill had lived, and see all the "games" he'd played once upon a time seem more like threats. Only one thing was still the same as it had ever been.

That deep, hungry ache. The animal pacing in the back of his head that could smell violence approaching.

--takk--

--takk--

--takk--

Step by step, the dull bark of unsharpened steel against unsharpened steel kept the beat, taming its heart, keeping pace with his own. The sword bounced forward, and fell back, ricasso striking his simple pauldrons with the same report.

--takk--

For Estée, however, this had to be a dream come true in some ways. It was unfortunate she had so much on the line now, like before, but he knew she'd always been an avid fan of the tournament. Their home was filled with recordings he always preferred to not be around for the playing of- he was on too many of them. It might not have held much appeal anymore for him, but he could share in her happiness a bit. That, and find a sort of dark humor to it all.

"No one I've ever run into before," he replied, and stepped through the door behind her, practically from one world into another.

Whomever had been left to make this room mock an outdoor environment had done an outstanding job- he couldn't even see the seams. The portal closed behind him, and the door's sealing completed the illusion. As much as showmanship was in many ways the heart of Heaven or Hell, he regretted wearing his duster almost right away. The tail flapped loudly against his legs, whipped by the conflicting winds. His weapons all fit tight and secure, however, the shorter sword at his left hip and the knives, and at the other side of his belt and one the back. Today, he wore his armor and armament in plain sight, from the dull steel and leather of his boots and gauntlets to the brigandine strapped tightly overtop the duster.

And on his face, the same darkly bemused wide and thin, lopsided grin he'd always provided the cameras, stretching his scars.

"Never know, in this place."

--takk--

He gave Celeste one last affectionate pat- on the rear, for what it was worth- and moved a few steps out forward of the rest of his team in long, slow strides.

Well under the cover of the wind, he muttered,

"Come out an' play."

Into The Tempest

Theme: Against The Storm

"Silence- Pretentious whore..."

His cold and hushed tone came lashing from his wicked grin- His tongue came licking across his pearly whites as his right hand came to remove the cigar from his mouth. A lingering wisp of smoke came licking across his face- Escaping into the violent winds. Posturing lightly he would snap his wrist to the side and send his rapier sliding down from his grasp- Slamming into the dirt much like he had done against the vampire KB. Moving his fingers along the spiked hilt he would take hold of the blade, affirming his grasp- Placing the cigar to his mouth he would bite down once again and take a step forward...

"It's time-"

Glancing back at Valkyrie he would toss her a devious grin and turn once again to the outside- Walking towards the voice that harked out to them.

He came from around the corner of the barns opening... Walking almost military in style. His left hand gripping the rapier tight and off to the side- Pointing at the ground. His right hand moved behind his back and pressed itself against the flat of his spine. Turning to the side slightly he shined with such a darkness that he himself looked as if the storm was of his creation. Suddenly he pointed forward, swinging his right arm from behind... His voice lashed out violently towards the man. The massive doors that hung on the barn soon shook themselves off and went rushing forward; barreling past Ertai by mere inches as they slammed into the hard ground and shattered... Blowing away into the cyclonic distance...

"Rayner Veli-"

"Welcome to the fight that defines your life... Welcome to the last glimpse of what it is like to be whole again... Welcome to the end of the line...'

His eyes lit alive as energy came pouring over his leather bound grasp- The first stage of his Concussive Black had come to... The energy moved like the putrid black smoke that poured from his perfect and almost mocking grin. It came to symbolize his presence, cold; damning smoke...

With out a moments hesitation from speaking his peace he launched forward- His eyes studying the body placement of his opposition, the details and contours of his armor- The positioning of his hands in relation to his weapon and most of all what his weapons were and located.

"I'm going to spill you into the wind... Let your loved ones and friends breathe in the failure that you are... Pathetic mortal..."

Tossing his right hand back one of his Butterfly Sword like blade would come sliding from his grasp in a plume of black smoke- Identical to the second sword that lay carefully in it's sheath at his belt; much the same as the second rapier lay in it's sheath under his coat attached to his back. He held the right blade in much looser stance, barely gripping the hilt. Ertai would keep it off-set to his side and position the hilt forward, unlike the left which pointed blade first. His stride was large and he moved with a deliberate speed, closing the distance between the two yet allowing ample time for his opposition to arm himself and ready a guard to his attack-

The attack came ripping forward with the left blade, positioning his body to the side he leaned into a sharp lung towards Rayner's face, aiming to break straight through his nose and puncture his sinus's- This blow would cause severe and irreparable damages to the man for the duration of the fight if it was successful. Yet in order to defend himself against a similar attack or even a retaliation, the positioning of his body along the linear striking path game him room and maneuverability to swing his right blade around as he needed.

"You'll remember my name for the remainder of your days- How few they are... Understand that with each ounce of life I strike from you-"

Power Wrote:

Concussive Black Stage I: Upon gaining his charge Ertai will advance into his stage of psychokinetic power. This first stage of power is more physically altering than anything. It gives Ertai a displaced look with a smoky black substance bleeding from his hands. The closer one would get to Ertai the more they would notice how cold and thin the air is around him. Upon touching Ertai one would be met with a slight numbing sensation that would fade as soon as contact with Ertai was disrupted.

Effects: Smokey visualizations, slight numbing on contact.

Equipment Wrote:

Dominion Overcoat: Infamously Ertai's most domineering and defining piece of equipment. Woven extremely tight of substances unknown, it resembles most military style officer dress yet keeps a distinct royalty about it. The tight weave of the fabric is mainly used to provide a platform for the chain like weave beneath. This chain underlay provides protection from most projectile weapons and even bullets because of how tight the weave truly is. In addition protects from most blade based weapons, granted if the thrust or slash is strong enough it can separate the weave. The over coat hangs just above his knees yet tapers off slightly longer in the back. The jet black overcoat fashions ten chrome buttons in two rows of five on the right side of his chest.

Equipment Wrote:

Dominion & Godliness: Ertai's most prized blades. They're traditional Vexa military rapier built as a full tang weapon. From tip to hilt it is one solid piece of metal. It spans three and a half feet in total length. Unlike a traditional rapier it doesn't taper off to a perfect point but rather curves out slightly much to the same effect as a katana. The only major rapier like function is the build of the hilt and hand guard. The handguard has a wicked look about it, a woven mess of five wire like spikes that protrude from all around his grasp. Two of these wire like spikes face upwards with the blade on the outside area opposite of his hand. In most cases these wire spikes are used to entangle and disarm the oppositions weapon. Attached to the hilt facing outwards with the handguard is a large ring, this ring is used to spin and maneuver the weapon as Ertai deems fit, often using it to change up style and stance. On the bottom of each hilt is a protruding spike.

(Rapier/ Katana hybrid swords)

Equipment Wrote:

Punishment & Persecution: These two blades are Ertai's secondary and more off the cuff weaponry. Each blade is twelve inches long with a six inch handle. Unlike traditional butterfly swords they curve slightly at the tip. Half way down the blade the blade becomes blunted and is mainly used for non-lethal strikes and to effectively block bladed weapons with out damaging the blade itself. In addition the blades have a slight crossguard that covers the hand and can be used to disarm, hook and strike the opposition.

Post: Two - The Violent Introduction

10Sins of an Angel

After what seemed like ages, the last two of her teammates had finally arrived on the scene and the sweet couple took the time to exchange innocent displays of affection before their captain eased into the proper mindset to deal with his bout. Rai greeted both of them, Celeste with a smile and Rayner with a weary expression. She knew he could hold his own in battle, despite not having seen his work in the actual tournament, but this Ertai fellow was certainly an interesting opponent...

"Good to see you lovebirds made it alright." She teased, mainly speaking to Celeste, who bid her husband well as he moved towards the waiting barn where his opponent had taken shelter.

As her teammate antagonized the opposition, snorting over the very idea that the enemy time really thought it clever to hide out in a dilapidated barn, to wait for those who wished to face them step forward, she snickered.

"One of you can take the vampire. I don't prefer to...deal with the undead." Between the trespasses of an old flame, and being raised from what should have been eternal damnation through the twisted practices of Necromancy - the sorceress had gotten her fill of those who had escaped the grave.

11Viice

Come out and play~

This was apparently enough to beckon Ertai forth, and after informing Valkyrie it was "time" he exited the shack, unhinging the doors on his way and inviting even more wind inside.

Still crouched on the tractor, all that could be seen of Valkyrie was her glowing red gaze. She took a final drag of her filterless cigarette, her eyes fluttered closed and a plume of smoke escaped her nostrils like that of a bemused dragon, her lip curling up in annoyance as Ertai rambled on about "the end of days".

She lowered herself from the tractor with weightless ease, the remains of her cigarette being reduced to nothing under the heel of her leather boot. She stepped out from her waiting place, her slender frame leaving her composure seemingly unaffected by the wind as it whipped right by her.

Deadened earth crunched under her feet as she stepped out behind Ertai, assessing each individual to figure out which was the one she'd been instructed to kill by her power-hungry teammate. He said she'd be wearing quite a bit of armor which was why Valkyrie would do well against her; she had speed and agility on her enemy. No armor held Valkyrie down, and she was known to make use of her environment rather than strap herself down with heavy weaponry.

When her crimson gaze landed on Vanessa it became painfully clear who she was up against this evening. Glossy black lips turned up into a viciously fanged smile as tendrils of raven hair were whipped by the wind in every direction.

She wasn't about to monologue; but something in her smile would speak volumes.

Darting forward past Ertai and his enemy, Valkyrie's form would blur into a black streak with speed, the wind pushing her in the desired direction. With a powerful push she sent herself up with the winds assistance and landed on the other side of the haystack Raien had waited against, crouching low about 10 feet to Vanessa's right. She wasn't rude, however, she'd give Vanessa that opening exchange she so desired before lunging for her jugular.

Valkyrie Koi. The Vampress's legs straightened to lift her to a normal stance with unnatural grace, her pale hands folded neatly behind her back. It will be a pleasure, I'm sure. Her clothing rippled in the wind, and her hair threw itself this way and that, but otherwise she was unsettlingly still.

12Psychofish

Vexic.

Rayner had never heard of him, but while he'd had no time to watch any of the preliminary bouts on television or video, but he'd stopped to glance at the booklets handed about with pictures and little blurbs on each team from the registration forms- which always seemed to serve more as a way to endear the competitors to viewers. Actual registration he was sure had much more to do with Noah's whims.

Rather than a grand entrance, he went for an exit- and one brow cocked questioningly, eyes narrowing. If he had been anything other than pure human, the bloody-red color of them would have been the only indication.

He heard his name, barely above the storm. And with each step closer the rest grew easier and easier to hear. And with each word his expression moved more and more toward incredulity... and amusement.

The Great Absolute Wrote:

"Welcome to the fight that defines your life... Welcome to the last glimpse of what it is like to be whole again... Welcome to the end of the line...'

--takk--

Seriously?

This part was standard fare- they eyed each other over and talked s**t, like strange dogs circling to growl and sniff before they got to the biting. But this guy wasn't just talking big- his words sounded like they belonged in an overblown film. His mind didn't compose any retorts, but his lips slowly spread, betraying a sliver of teeth while his chest bounced. The blade came away from his shoulder again- but this time he turned the edge forward and held it half an arm ahead of himself with his feet and shoulders squared, left hand moving to the pommel in a common guard- common except in that the hilt was a foot long in total.

The Great Absolute Wrote:

"... Pathetic mortal..."

A 'god' is it now?

"HuhuhuhuhahahAHAHAHAAAH~!"

Bingo.

The chuckling turned to full blown booming laughter carrying on the wind, but his face sharpened in hungry focus. Hell if he knew what he'd done to provoke Vexic- perhaps nothing more than chance, or the bit of fame he'd gathered in Heaven or Hell under his alias- but the self proclaimed 'non-mortal' had just turned a lot of ire his direction. Rayner had developed some rather unflattering views of those who proclaimed themselves gods, and only a one of them had he ever had any fondness for. Finally having a chance to bloody one? Beautiful. Perhaps he'd have some fun after all.

Not to mention the implications of just how much harm Ertai could likely survive.

"--HAH!"

The laughter cut off into a single cry as the thrust- and counter strike- came.

As Ertai's final step came, entering striking distance, Rayner stepped backward- with his left foot, pointing the men's chests the same direction rather than mirroring his stance. Likewise, his sword moved almost in tandem, diverting the thrusting tip outward to the swordsman's left with the ricasso not before but as a part of his strike- using his retreating left side to generate extra leverage in a strike dropping diagonally onto the back of Ertai's offending shoulder only instants after the thrust would have connected. After all- an enemy was never as vulnerable as the instant they struck, and Rayner was no stranger to trading blood for blood.

If he could get away without spilling any of his own, however...

The plan wasn't to simply cut and retract if he made contact though, nor really to cut at all. Power, not sharpness, was the name of the game, and his elongated hilt helped provide it without sacrificing speed or control.

If the blade could hack into flesh all the better, but Heaven or Hell was full of things with abnormal hides and hidden armor, and he damn well intended to dislocate the shoulder at the very least (or bend pauldrons enough to restrict movement if there was plate hidden beneath). And if he made contact, there was no intention of relenting and letting his foe recover, but instead he'd twist his body further to push forcefully downward to unbalance his opponent.

Who knew-

If he was lucky, perhaps he'd even manage to bring Ertai Vexic to his knees.

b*****d Sword Wrote:

b*****d Sword- 4'10", 3'10" blade and 1' hilt. Steel, double edged with a fuller, 8" ricasso, cruciform crossguard, and a blunted "acorn" pommel. A mundane weapon meant more for war than dueling, a good swing of it might break a normal person's bones even when sheathed.

There could not have been a better(or was it worse?) match-up for the young Vanessa. Why do you ask? Did she posses some hidden power focused around beating back the undead? Was she somehow hiding some super-human power or ability that gave her an edge over a clearly faster opponent?

No, all of those guesses were wrong. The only thing Vanessa had was an intense hatred of monsters and the undead. That was right, her greatest weapon against Valkyrie was a burning passion to see her become nothing more than a pile of vampiric dust under her boot. For those whom did not know, Vanessa was a member of a minor noble house on Gaia, one whom dedicated their lives to protecting the lower echelons of Gaian society from undesirable monsters and villans, and chief among those pests and risks were the undead. Vampires in particular struck a never with young Vanessa, as she saw them as manipulative and shady. No monster whom took a human form could be trusted, not unless Vanessa could run them through with her spear.

"The only pleasure I'll be taking today is when I grind you under my foot, foul demon." she turned her head slowly to look at the vampiress with those dark green eyes of hers, her normally soft gaze hardened to the point that if she could have shot daggers or spears from her eyes she more than likely would have. She shifted her weight as she turned to face her 'opponent', though in her mind 'mortal enemy' might have fit better. Every enemy of humanity, even monster or demon or great beast was her enemy, no matter if they were friendly or not. These creatures would sooner lie and stab her in the back than co-operate and protect the humanity they strived to coexist with, so she firmly and staunchly believed. It was an archaic belief that many would find a polite and educated young woman like Vanessa to adhere to, but it was how she was raised and it ingrained into her very existence.

"You know if I had it my way I would not see you walk away from here, but the tournament forbids killing. Not that it would matter with you red eyed deceiver, you are already dead to the world. Defend yourself, monster, for all the good it will do!" she shouted that last bit, as if it was the rallying cry that would draw her to battle. Her focus shifted entirely to Valkyrie, tunnel vision and training took over as her mind ran over everything she had ever learned about this type of undead.

A vampire is weakened by sunlight...

They feed on the blood of the living, often harming the innocent just to survive...

They are unnaturally fast and strong, easily more than a trained human warrior...

A steak through the heart usually does the trick...No, can't do that. Focus, Vanessa.

They often control dark forces. I must take care.

With these thoughts organized in her head Vanessa tightened her grip on her spear and advanced. It was a moderate pace, more akin to a trot than a full charge, but she didn't exactly have to get right into the vampire's face to be effective. that was once again an advantage she held this battle, she had a much greater reach than her opponent, thanks in part of her recently repaired spear(a roughly five and a half foot long wooden polearm with a solid steel tip). This meant that she held a more even field against an obviously more agile opponent, so long as she managed to keep her out of range of whatever weapons this vampiress had, if she even had any at all. Then again, what could claws and teeth do to hardened steel and hardened resolve? Nothing, not in Vanessa's mind anyway. She would stop about five feet away from Valkryie, lifting her shield up to cover her torso, armed pulled about halfway to her chest with the shield face aimed right at her opponent. Up then came the spear and out too it went, thrusting out in an attempt to skewer Valkryie through her abdomen on that glinting steel tip. It wasn't particularly fast, but it gave Vanessa the ability to pull that spear right back should someone try to grab it away from her as had happened last time. She was far more aggressive than she had been last time likely due to her choice in opponent, and she wasn't going to stop until either she or her opponent were unable to get off the ground.

Astyanax walked in the function and jerked. The wind blew his hair around like he was in a music video; his headphones were in and his iPod was playing some bomb s**t that slapped.

He looked around, glanced at his team leader, then spotted the grown a** womens.

He plucked the headphones out of his ears, set his iPod down, picked up a pitchfork with right hand and walked toward Raien. He could only say, "All your base are belong to us. Stand up and fight or make your time." He jabbed at her stomach.

The winds still whipped and whistled, making it difficult to hear much of the dialog between her captain and his slated foe, but the look of determination did well to illustrate just what sort of thrashing he had in mind for the would-be god. In the short time it took for her team captain to retaliate - the vampire had already chosen her desired foe and immediately made a hasty line for Vanessa, leaving just Raien and Celeste to await the arrival of any other Sovereign members. Of course, like magic, her so-called "prayers" were answered.

Another man finally arrived, and hardly in a hurry. Instinct encouraged the sorceress to immediately expand her senses outward so to tap into the arcane energies present within this plane and begin drawing raw power into herself where she could store and channel it for future use. Feeling the familiar tingle of power coursing through her being, a small, easy grin settled onto the mage's lips.

Her opponent showed his thirst for blood, one to rival that of his undead ally no less as he immediately brandished the first weapon he came across. Raien immediately stood up from the haystack after tucking her staff right into the large bail where she could grab it again later, trying not to let the wind topple her over in the process and hastily slipped out of the offending pitchfork's path with a quick slide across the grass to her right. If he collided with the haystack instead of the mage, that would have been ideal, but regardless she didn't bother to check and grabbed up the first thing she found on the ground in favor of her staff.

That thing - was a shovel.

A typical three pound, wood and steel farming shovel, to be precise. It was windy, so Raien held fast while lifting it off the ground and gave that thing a good forceful swing right into her (thus far) nameless opponent's unprotected side. His back would have been far more desirable, but one had to make do with what they were given.

"You're LATE!" She shouted, her voice only moderately strained during mid-swing. Whether or not he cared didn't make a whole lot of difference, but Raien was certainly displeased with his tardy arrival.

Abilities Wrote:

The manipulation of Aetheric energies - Raien draws upon this energy from other planes, into herself using her to channel as a focusing object. Her inherent (racial) abilities allow her to manipulate these energies and utilize them in four different ways: offensively, defensively (passive abilities), supplementary (stat boosting), or crafting/fueling spelled charms. Obviously this is restricted to one specific use at a time.

Shh— Flecks of straw burst into the air as pitchfork stuck haystack.

Raien's shovel met the armored musculature of Astyanax's left arm with an effectual thud, rebounded, sung.

Right foot slid forward across the earth; left knee turned and body followed suit. Astyanax thrust with the three-pronged pitchfork, attempting a glancing but would-be debilitating three-inch gouge with the weapon's left point for Raien's left zygoma.

((I'm making a note here. Clash, you were warned in the Preliminary notes about your armor. You yourself declared it to be ablative - namely, that when it is hit, the blow is absorbed and the section's plate falls off (these are your own words, paraphrased). You failed to account for this in your prelim fight, and your last post seems indicative of that as well. Failure to comply further will result in a penalty in regards to abuse of equipment and/or abilities performing functions outside their specified scope.

Thank you - that is all.))

18Sins of an Angel

With what concentration she could spare at the moment, Raien continued to draw power, attempting to gather as much as she could before she would need to use it. Having learned from her last fight, the sorceress was all about being prepared this time.

Head in the game now, it was pretty clear to Rai that her opponent wasn't much for small talk during a bout. What a shame really, they could have partaken of some very interesting conversations. She vaguely recalled seeing him during the opening ceremonies looking mildly fascinated about her confrontation with a certain sorcerer. However, if he didn't want to chit chat, well she wasn't about to force him.

The important thing right now, was that the shovel didn't quit meet it's mark. Her opponent turned just in time to catch the tool right in the arm as opposed to the more vulnerable, more malleable flesh of his side. Such an impact was unfortunately awkward and the shovel rebounded right back, catching her off guard enough that she almost stumbled, but quickly corrected her footing for fear of letting the wind get the better of her. Worse yet - he was on toes right away with that pitchfork again, giving her not a moment's peace and forcing her to act. She jerked away in a sudden movement, earning that glancing blow, if you could call a gash along the side of her cheek a glance, and in the same vein the mage slid into a forward step and slight turn to give her room enough to swing the same shovel at her opponent's mostly unprotected head. Mostly, if not for the armored suit that covered his body, and leaving only his face exposed. The movements weren't perfect obviously, as wind certainly played an important factor but it was worth a try.

Maybe if Raien was lucky, a blow to the head would get him talking. Or maybe not.

Dominion In The Wind

Theme: Racing The Wind

He moved with precision and was a master at his craft- Through centuries of combat he has fought nearly every type of warrior; this hybrid knight that stood before him was no exception. The large sword caught Ertai's attention as he barreled forward into his attack; yet the terms had changed in the moments between Ertai's final step to strike and the mans sacrificial maneuver. This wouldn't work to Ertai's advantage just yet, the table hadn't quite been set- Abandoning his train of thought Ertai would loosen the grasp of the lunging rapier and cut back sharply with his right foot- The thrust of his foot crossing behind would naturally twist his body; Ertai sharply diverted the direction of his blade by palming the bottom of the hilt causing it to slide along the inner area of his hand along the index and between the thumb- Naturally his index finger would motion to the ring under the cross-guard of the blade and cause it to slide in a circular motion following the opposite direction of his body's new twisting motion.

How elegantly he moved- His eyes staring down the bold and brazen warrior with a stern deliverance- He wanted to intimidate this man through his shear display of brutally and skill. Ertai knew his weapons more so than the man against him knew the taste of life. Ertai understood the balancing; weight and dynamics. His rapier would continue to spin along his index finger- Right arm came arching around with the Butterfly sword. His left foot left the ground as his body turned flowing off to side as his right foot lead the dodge.

Rayner was smart- This was evident from the stance and positioning of his hand and body. He was also ready to bleed if need be... Something Ertai was intrigued by- Yet he wasn't ready to spill his ichor over a hasty strike...

His right arm came crossing forward as his body had changed positioning and stance- The fluidity of his actions would come back into full-swing as the Butterfly sword slammed into Rayner's blade at about the center. The cross-guard on the blade snared it, trying to control any side movement Rayner might try to take with out directly pulling his blade back- His left foot came slamming down as the body crossing dodge came full swing-

"Goodbye-"

A faint whisper crept from his vicious smile as the full motion of his body came into swing with the expulsion of his energy. A large booming blast of shadowy concussive force came barreling out directly at Rayner's front- This blast whipped back rows and rows of grain, sending it flying into the wind. The shadowy expulsion was strong enough the knock away and jam segments of armor and even rattle him internally for a moment. If Rayner had no helmet or wasn't quick enough to brace it could cause concussive symptoms and daze the experienced Knight. The knights Sword would be blown from his grasp if not held firm enough, and even throw him off balance- Ertai would use this blast to his advantage, if the knight was flat footed, he could expect himself to fly back or stagger- The blast itself was stronger the closer the combatants were to each other, needless to say this was Ertai testing the will of Rayner...

His left arm would snap down to the side as he re-gripped his rapier. Stepping back slightly he would posture up once again and await what his opposition had in store for him through the smoky displacement of energy that seemingly was immune to the wind. It cast a dark gray and opaque smear around Ertai as his energy was expelled from his body. This was short lived as he begun to charge once again... The black energy crackled over his overcoat and masked hands... Ertai motioned over the buttons of his overcoat and slid open a few, sliding his right hand into his coat he would sheath the Butterfly sword in his hand... Motioning over the buttons once again he snapped his neck to the side awaiting the results of his powerful strike... The powerful winds brushing up against him, his overcoat flapping into the wind...

--Dominion Slam--

Charge: Flash Charge I or Agitation charge I

Type: Offensive Strike

Duration: Instantaneous

Activation: Instantaneous through action / Thought

One of Ertai's more intimidating moves. He can project his psychokinesis through his entire physical body causing a massive wave of concussive force. The Dominion Slam is triggered by specific physical actions with the intention of using the strike. Ertai can launch forward with shoulder thrusting technique and create a shadowy wraith like blast of energy that mimics his physical pose. This shoulder thrusting burst of concussive force is strong enough to cause more serious concussive symptoms and disorientate the victim of the shoulder thrust. In addition the shoulder thrust can cause the opposition to fly back a distance of up to three yards or so. In addition to the shoulder thrust technique, Ertai can also slam his foot down and cause an arching wave of concussive force to launch outwards. This wave of concussive force becomes more sever the closer the opposition is to Ertai. This wave of force fans out in direct correlation with Ertai's line of sight as well as peripheral vision, thus limiting his projection to his front.

In addition Ertai can use the Dominion Slam to check a rushing opponent; as well as a jumping or flipping opponent. This check he can do will often push back or misdirect the path of the rushing or maneuvering fighter

There was a dull flash of pain and a hollow sound heard as the shovel drummed the side of his frontal bone. If or when the steel head was pulled away, red scrapes and a welt surfacing on flesh would be revealed. Unresponsive to the damage, he charged forward through a gust of wind that blasted between them. Weight was evenly distributed between both legs; posture was straight and chest and torso were forward. He used his body to take up space and, like a loose-legged but stoic peacock or chicken on alert and prepared to ward off rival males during a courtship display, advanced in such a way that Raien might feel suffocated, cut off from either an advance of her own or retreat.

He made a downward strike with the pitchfork, attempting to stick her in the muscle of the right calf with the middle point of the weapon, and became aware of a few-centimeters-thick section of armor sliding off his tricep.

Raien would discover that her opponent wasn't much of a talker. He was articulate, but had long ago been prevented from articulation by being traumatised.

3

21Sins of an Angel

The sound of the shovel's head colliding with her opponent's head was only barely audible over the noise, and it didn't help that his face registered no response to the pain or impact, unlike herself - still frowning and wincing visibly as the winds took no mercy on her fresh wound. Either she hadn't hit him as hard she might have liked, or he was awfully skilled at remaining stone-faced. Did he think that expressing pain was showing weakness?

Well if that was the case, then she was certainly weak, but it was very human trait and one that separated her from the monsters.

Her opponent was quick to recover from a whack to the head, and even sported a good couple welts he could show off with pride, but more importantly, that pitchfork was still an imminent thread, and lashed at her leg like an angry snake - the man wielding the tool closing in on her at the same time. Not liking his close proximity, Raien panicked a little pulled her leg - and the rest of herself - back. He had tried to stick her in the calf, like some kind of farm animal but she acted quickly in turning herself to face him proper and stagger back a step, catching the pitchfork's prong across her shin. Though the tool was rusted over and only so sharp, it at least succeeded by easily penetrating the soft leather of her knee-high boots and scraping against flesh and bone, leaving behind a wicked gash and partially ruined boot.

It was better than getting stuck in the calf but the blow still garnered a teeth clenching hiss of pain. The mage could count on two hands how many times she had skinned her knees and her shins as a young girl but the sensation - and one caused by a sharp, pointy object was still highly unpleasant.

Wasting no time, nor backpedaling, she took full advantage of his hunched position thanks to his pitchfork strike. Raien used the shovel - still in her hands - to jab him in the face, steel head forward. It was completely exposed and not protected by any armor, and though the mage was not usually one to take cheap shots, she had severe issues with anyone forcing themselves into her personal space and saw an opportunity when it presented itself. It also helped to relieve some of the frustration and distract her from what injuries she had sustained thus far.

"I'd appreciate you backing off a little, but I don't forsee that happening." She shouted, over the wind. Balance was a precarious thing, but so far so good. The frustrating thing, was not having space. Raien knew she had to break away soon and either make use of the energy she had stored, or grab her staff and making him eat the shovel would hopefully get him to ease up off of her.

For an instant, Rayner's opponent seemed to blur.

Quick b*****d-!

Rayner had already started to move to counter as Ertai hurriedly cancelled the thrust- perhaps a feint to begin with?- but there was no mistaking it in the speed of his spin, the full body moving fast enough to give him a hope of countering the compact strike of the sword. He'd have to be lightning quick, and no sooner did the burst of agility register than Rayner's eyes caught up to the pace and tracked his motion clearly once more.

The Great Absolute Wrote:

His left foot left the ground as his body turned flowing off to side as his right foot lead the dodge.

Not only that, but the faux-knight's body seemed to pick up the pace likewise.

Ertai's body twisted, exposing his back to Rayner for a moment, but while he wasn't quick enough to take advantage of this, adrenaline exploded into his veins in the quarter-second period, pupil's dilating and grin growing tighter, more feral as his upper body leaned forward into the swing, senses and muscles set on edge as the danger this man presented seemed to grow before his eyes.

There wasn't any doubt that Ertai's motions were many times more elegant- fluid, precise, and skilled- than any of Rayner's, nor that the pulsing bloodlust growing had roots in fear as well as malice. But while the "god" had sheer ability and practice on his side, the mortal had compact motions to his impressive and flashy, simple and direct with deadly purpose. Practical violence borne of necessity.

After all- Rayner had spent his last several years learning what it took turn his battles with creatures and men far greater than himself from struggles for life into victories.

Sword struck sword as Ertai's face came around again, placing him out of the way of the strike and locking two-handed grip against one-handed. He'd also be getting his head far enough around to get a proper look at what was already in motion.

The Great Absolute Wrote:

His left foot came-

-an instant too late.

With the full force of two firmly planted legs behind him Rayner had taken advantage of his lesser height and the effective forward motion of his right side to cannon his body forward- making thunderous impact with an armored shoulder and the force of his weight against Ertai's mid-lower ribs before he could plant his second foot and secure his balance again.

A "little" push, to cast him to remove his balance for a moment and cast him to the "god" to the mercy of the elements.

How, in these frightening winds, one would manage to do anything but be flung from their feet- if that was not indeed what became of Ertai- remained to be seen, but unless his body remained there as a support the raging mock-storm was more than enough to take advantage of Rayner's forward motion and slam him onto an elbow, catching his weight clumsily before forcing himself forward and to his feet. The two handed grip on his sword was more important, securing his weapon, than putting a hand beneath himself at the moment, which brought up the question of what would become of the other's weapons, one locked to Rayner's sword and the other in motion.

Even if, unbeknownst to him, the "god" had spares.

If he still managed his forceful push in the face of his own flight one thing would change- Rayner would tumble over backward instead of forward, rolling awkwardly if in practice motion over once, before struggling quickly to his feet with his ears ringing.

If not, well-

Rayner would make a forward motion a part of his recovery, finally releasing one hand from his sword once the weapon lock was definitively over, and dart forward in as few long strides as were needed to make a thrust with the tip of his weapon at Ertai's calves as he tried to rise/catch his balance. Vicious and to the point- to slow his rise or hinder his mobility in the future while preserving a distance safe from the retaliation of his blades. If he had the god on his back, Rayner had no reason not to attempt to harry him to more desperate straights and means, and if he found his feet it'd only take a moment for Rayner to fall back into a Fools Guard, blade held just above his waist between his forward left and back right, with the tip pointed at a downward slope.

Among the things he'd learned was that mercy was seldom returned.

Iron Will Wrote:

...He often pushes himself for just that bit more of endurance, exaggerating his bodies great stamina or trying to close the gaps between himself and metas in such a way that it almost seems as if Rayner literally becomes somewhat stronger when facing stronger foes at times (this is not ACTUALLY the case)...

Tsk. Such hostility! And she'd been so polite in her introductions.

The woman wasted no time advancing, and as Valkyrie watched, she felt like a fly being swatted at by a human hand.

Sooo....veryyy....slooow....

Vanessa's advance was a simple one, easily predicted and certainly not fast by Valkyrie's standards, so a swift dodge was inevitable. That shield would present a problem, but by the same token would keep her enemy's speed down and the gears in Valkyrie's head were turning the more she thought about that shield. The possibilities....

Valkyrie had been familiarizing herself with Vanessa's equipment from the moment she laid eyes on her. Crimson eyes scanned her armor for breaks, namely near the joints that demanded maneuverability, her neck, her armpit, elbows, the obvious, and also the backs of her legs were open. The key, however, was getting close; Valkyrie's blades were only a foot and 1/2 in length....

So, back to the moment in question, Valkyrie was going to use that shield to her advantage. While Vanessa thrusted forward, Valkyrie too would thrust forward, lowering herself just a tad and side-stepping out of the spears path. She aimed her right shoulder to crash right into Vanessa's shield in a quick, swift motion, and because she'd lowered herself, Valkyrie could effectively thrust forward and upward in an attempt to push the shield up and effect her opponents balance. Also important though, was the force with which she'd rammed herself into Vanessa; one of Valkyrie's greatest advantages was her superhuman strength, and her aim was to put enormous strain on Vanessa's arm (or even break it, if she was lucky) while also causing her to loose her footing.

The wind, too, would play a key factor here; if the shield was lifted and caught properly by the gusts surrounding them it would tug Vanessa's shield whichever way it blew like an umbrella in the wind.

Defend myself from what? Valkyrie sneered, curling her lips back to bear hateful fangs at her enemy for the first time. Promptly, if Vanessa's shield lifted, Valkyrie would go for a take down at the waist. Her shoulders would dip down to Vanessa's hips, her arms would wrap around her thighs and slide down to her knees, and then Valkyrie would stand up and pull toward herself to slam Vanessa on the ground, straddling her.

Once on the ground, if it came to that, this close proximity would render her spear useless and give Valkyrie's blades a clear advantage.

Ascendancy

Theme: Crossfire

Oh how he loved the thrill of battle... The clash of metal against metal- The clash of will against will... Perhaps he had underestimated the experience of the pseudo-knight, perhaps he knew all along how this man worked... The details didn't matter, the convoluted nature of Ertai made it seem as if he had been anticipating each and every move the man would take. His eyes flashed as the blades locked, his smaller Butterfly Sword hinged on it's ability to be lighter; smaller and deceptive. It's loose grasp was for a reason, much the same as the very design of his weapons- Ertai could over power and match tit-for-tat in strength with any man, woman or beast this tournament could throw at him... His true skill was in the way he deflected and continued to keep his opposition in motion while delivering them into an untimely fate. This battle was no exception, Ertai would puppet the knight into the cold hand of oblivion- The cold grasp of defeat...

Gaze met gaze...

The knight had found his stride and suddenly broke out into motion, severing Ertai's chain of events- Yet failing to understand that even when the odds looked to be stacked in the knights favor, Ertai had other means of dishing out punishment- After all he was a martial master. A warlord of worlds- This would become evident as the knight came in slamming his shoulder up into Ertai's lower rib cage, throwing a powerful wrench in what Ertai had in mind. The reaction would be swift, the gears turning sharply and the reaction followed just as quickly. Ertai would use every element possible in a fight to give himself a dominate position...

The wind would play a major role in this-

His lip would curl as he felt the armored paldron ran up under his lower section of ribs- For the most part the force and damage was muted from his overcoat. The chain-weave would siphon the force out equally yet not entirely. The winds came lifting from behind as Rayner's shoulder came lifting from the front- His left foot hadn't quite made contact with the ground below, throwing his balance off. Ertai would react quickly and with a proficient deliverance- His right leg pushed forward and upwards as he was lifted, the left foot would come climbing upwards towards Rayner's belt or segment in the armor that separated his torso from his leggings- The foot would aim to push upwards on Rayner's body and with the added effect of the cyclonic winds it would come lifting him from behind- The violent current grabbing his overcoat as if it was a cape, giving him a larger surface area for the moment.

Ertai's right hand would continue keeping itself locked into place against the mid-section of the knights blade, still effectively locking it in place with his sword yet the knight could still maneuver his massive blade if he chose to recoil with the blade forwards or backwards- This would cause Ertai's Butterfly Sword to shift to the hilt or tip, depending on how far the knight could escape what was happening. The martial skill of Ertai was evident as he climbed upwards as he fell, pulling and falling back with the knight barreling forward.

His cold voice came whispering down with a sort of cold foreshadowing-

"Brief are memories reflecting life- Eternal is the scar of remembering."

His left hand came down as he scaled upwards and fell backwards with the knight. His right foot attempting to augment this by sharply careening upwards in an attempt to slam into the knights chest armor,

The glint of the rapier flashed as he snapped his wrist upwards effectively sending the blade twirling outwards with in his grasp- He dished out the black blades will by aiming it down at the side of the neck with a clean shot down the knights armor- This strike was strong enough and precise enough to effectively slide down through the collarbone and puncture the knights right lung in addition severing and impaling anything with in it's path, yet the design of the strike was not to kill the knight but to bring him to that point of teetering on the brink-

As his blade went to usurper this fight, his mind expanded outwards and begun to channel once again his psychokinetic energies- The darkness that had been seen once before reappeared- The madness reflecting in his eyes the disdain he had for this man, his existence and the very core of what he was-

Mortal-

He longed to vanquish the heroes of this world yet he would bide his time, playing their games- Giving them the thought that they had a chance, giving himself a tangibility that only he controlled and willed... When this was all over it would become evident enough what the heroes of this world had to gain...

Nothing but what Ertai wanted them to have...

A false sense of security...

A false sense of pride...

A false chance at life-

Smoke billowing from his vicious grin- Unwavering...

It was a common mistake to make when one saw anyone with a shield to think that such an item was merely there to deter someone from attacking. Truth be told a shield was equal parts offensive and defensive, and in the right hands(or arm) it could turn a disadvantageous position into one of greater balance. This was one of those times, at least so Vanessa hoped. You see right as Valkyrie came to try and push that shield up with her shoulder Vanessa would force her arm outward, shield and all, in an attempt to merely rebuke her opponent. While she wasn't as strong as Valkyrie was she had better footing, as she didn't have to move or even throw her body into the attack, all she had to do was force her shield bearing arm outward to fend off her opponent. And so she did, with a loud cry.

"Repulse the wicked!" it was all coming back to her, training with her father and the other members of her house. These drills came naturally to her, even if she had never put them to use in real combat before, simply out of years and years of tedious practice. It was all a matter of turning the tide from the enemies favor to her own, and this was exactly what she was trying to do. She wouldn't have to worry about getting tackled, as her shield thrust would merely push Valkyrie backwards a bit, out of arms reach. All this would happen right as Valkyrie pushed herself into that shield, meaning force met force and momentum would work against her. This was the advantage of a shield, it meant that even if your primary weapon was out of reach or useless to provide help you could still defend yourself with relative ease.

"Now!" she cried out, pulling her spear back towards her body. "Advance! Drive the enemy back!" the though that her shouting might be utterly silly was lost on the young Vanessa, it was merely what she recalled her instructors shouting as her when she was younger. It came naturally to her now, but the spirit of the whole ordeal stuck with her. Stepping forward she would pull her shield back to her body, only to shove it out again as she quickly advanced to follow Valkyrie. She was literally going to shove Valkyrie back once again with her shield, except it was her who was on the offensive now, not her opponent. She was going to keep pushing until an opportunity presented itself, and then strike a vital, killing blow.

This was all assuming of course Valkyrie hadn't acted in the time it took Vanessa to advance. Regardless she maintained a standing and well defensible stance, one that would be expected from an armored combatant.

And now, the world was turning over- moving him forward. And his bloody opposition was... staying put?

Think you're a sneaky ********, huh?

His brain spun and processed the other's actions in a whirlwind, desperately hitching up the pace to keep ahead of the curve as the line between actual thought and simple instinct blurred. Force against his body- he was moving higher, like angling for a better position in a ground battle before it even hit the earth, and yet he hadn't let go of any steel. Right fingers loosened, body and legs coiling up as the kick came first, eliciting a tight grunt and burst of dull pain as he forcefully held breath between his teeth and--

Words, peripheral motion--!

Reaction before interpretation, in air even if only for a second, there was no ground, a moment of vulnerability, had his opponent not been far too keen on control. No stop to think about it, Rayner twisted his upper body violently left by the hips- and thanks to Ertai's foot against his lower body it'd turn his upper half rather than his lower, jerking his head and throat away from the motion and tucking the chin in primal defense that out sped even trained half-thought. Even if there wasn't near enough time to finish those words, even half, before they struck the ground, it wouldn't stop the sword from flying precisely toward a target... that wouldn't cooperate. Mid fall and already in motion, the tiny bit of twist he'd have given Rayner a chance for would be all it took to throw the point of impact off just a part of an inch.

Rather than skirting the edge of the throat delicately the point came down atop the collarbone- and the lip of the armor where it covered the meeting of body and neck. The force of the stroke punctured the first layer of small interlocking plates, biting into the second and thrust the armor with a sharp burst of pain and bruising force against the collarbone, before the continue rotation of his upper body would cause the point to lose traction before it could be forced the rest of the way through and to its target non the less.

And the ground would come back into play.

A foot met just before Ertai would hit the ground, and Rayner's weight followed after, slamming down hard as the supporting limb absorbed the initial shock- painful but necessary. Because there wouldn't even be a moment of respite.

Couldn't be.

The irony was the kicking and pushing off against him had raised Rayner's lower body just barely in the fall, but that was what it took to make space to slip the leg in, ensuring he had his weight anchored before Ertai did, not even leaving him time to feel the jostling recoil of striking earth before Rayner's leg and torso twisted violently back the way they'd come-

Like a pendulum, instantly transfering defense into offensive force. His right hand had released the hilt without moving away and now thanks to the sword's positioning to his left and the twist of his body, everything was already retracted and coiled to strike, leaving absolutely no warning before his form blurred, smashing at Ertai's ear or eye, depending on how his head was turned, with the side of a steel plated fist and a force to put the nastiest backhand to shame.

Of course, the rotation caused by the swing would then leave him coiled exactly where he needed to be to instantly throw a gauntleted punch without ever moving his left far (leaving the butterfly sword fairly trapped between the crossguard of the larger sword and the earth)-

This time aimed to slam into the upward-facing part of Ertai's head, hammering it between the force of his fist and the "anvil" the ground would provide.

All the while wearing his grin right through the pain and exhertion.

... His talents in unarmed combat come squarely from his own experience in the streets, the ring, and the gym. While Kael isn't trained to perform complicated combinations, feints, or grappling techniques, he has been forced to learn to fight effectively in even the most compromising situation, and has a great talent for making his blows, especially punches, land with far more force than they should. Morphogenesis and his gauntlets and boots, of course, only emphasize this further, allowing Kael to dish out the hurt even to the toughest superhumans and metahumans.

28--Deviant Sequence--

(Hope ya'll don't mind if I just hax myself in now.)

''Aww.. Ertai.''

The voice resounded from outside the arena, slowly approaching. It appeared as though the Celfoid had finally made it to where he should have been initially. He had thought he was perfectly capable of navigating the large tournament grounds, but navigation wasn't his issue. It was the sheer amount of information flowing around in a single place, in Gaia, of all places. Of course, the Squeeze-Shack fast food chains on his own planet processed more data in a few seconds than some planets do in their lifetime. Still, it was refreshing for the Celfoid.. the constant background noise he felt through subtle fluctuations in electronic circuits and wireless connections helped calm and ease him in to the alien world.

It wasn't but a few seconds before Jerich arrived that the fight had begun, and it seemed to be progressing smoothly. Despite his species natural pacifism, Jerich loved to fight. Then again, the Celfoids consider martial arts a recreational activity or hobby. Disappointed nonetheless, Jerich decided he wanted at least some action this fight. Besides, who knows if the team would even make it to the second round? What if doesn't even get a chance to fight on his own? These fantasies fueled a spark of discontent and mild anger within the ring-side fighter.

But the flame of regret burning from the possible dissatisfaction was nothing compared to the incandescent solar body that raged within... it swarmed not for the tournament, but for Ertai's soul. The Celfoid was driven by a genetic urge to fight the man, to slay him, to erase all known traces of him. His higher mental functions prevented him from acting as such instantly, that instinct drove him to join this tournament to begin with.

Celadon eyes glazed over the fight between Rayner and Ertai, intently focused with an obvious glint of envy. His right arm rose, digits extending to wash away the auburn strands obstructing his field of vision. His left index finger lightly traced itself across the cold steel of a pistol.

It ached...

For all his life, Jerich had been faced with many decisions. Life or death decisions.. some that had affected thousands of lives at once, and each one he regretted. Here, he felt that same pressure crash upon him like a merciless ocean wave. This time it was a little more personal.

A decision?

''...Better not lose, drekhead.''

Having whispered to himself, Jerich's fingers dashed over to his wrist, hovering momentarily over the bracelet laid there, given to him by the tournament staff. With a flick of the switch, it was on.

Ten seconds

Team Assist

The Celfoid mind burst into life and activity. Essentially a sentient biological computer, the fourth member of Team Sovereign threw himself past the boundaries and into the action. Here was his passion, his life, everything he had ever come to know.. it was all here in this field. The realm of combat. Jerich's mind went into a calculative state, taking into account as much sensory information as possible. His incredible mental faculties, designed as a mixture of organic and software structures, contained such deviations of human physiology as neo-myelin, reaction enhancements. Within his brain was nothing short of organized chaos, countless calculations made, both sides of the brain working in perfect harmony.

With this mental power, Jerich accurately determined the distance between his target, himself, the other combatants, and the building in the midst of the plain that miraculously still stood. The speed and direction of the winds, presence of debris, his own physical limitations and restrictions imposed by the environment, all calculated extraordinarily quickly... And Ertai was on the stairway to heaven.. or, a sky-diving adventure at least.

9 Seconds

With little time to waste, the metahuman looked instinctively inwards, drawing forth his own spiritual essence. Source, the Celfoid equivalent of Ki as it was called, began to flow through his body.. flooding the nadic channels of his auric frame to coat his legs and feet in raw essence. An accumulation of spiritual energy that, through force of will and honing of spiritual talent, was forced to materialize as needed into unblemished kinetic energy. Jerich's right foot launched forward as his left slid back to support him. Currently, the wind was against him.. making it a little harder to reach his target. Nothing he couldn't handle though.

And he's off!

Jerich launched himself forward, using the Source pooled in his lower limbs to accelerate himself in a manner that probably wasn't too healthy. He had to make all the calculations beforehand, the buffeting winds and dust made it extremely annoying to keep a clarified visual on what was going on, especially at the speeds he was going. He would escalate... to near forty miles per hours, gaining on his target. But who was his target? The way things looked right now, that would be Rayner.

7 seconds

He was getting closer, perhaps no more than a quarter of a football field away. Within the next second or two he would be able to land a strong physical blow into Rayner. He attempted entering in such a way that would allow him to approach from Rayner's left, flanking to perhaps land a strike with his active Monitor Bus technique. There were many possibilities open to Jerich, several of which were processed near-instantaneously within his mind's eye.

And then he deviated.

Jerich swayed towards his left, altering his trajectory in such a way that he would not come in direct contact with Rayner, but instead pass behind him by exactly one and a half feet. If the combatant wasn't entirely focused on Ertai, he would probably be able to notice such a thing. The Celfoid seemed entirely intent on passing his foe without hesitation, and indeed that was his plan. Fleshy optical lids peeled back as a flying plank threatened to send Jerich on a free trip to concussion land, something would have to be done about that.

6 Seconds

With as much concentration as he could muster, Jerich executed his plan. As the wooden plank neared him his left knee voluntarily collapsed, nearly touching the grassy field below but not quite making contact. His back hunched as he leaned forward, twisting his head towards his right shoulder and glimpsing past the wind-guided wood for a brief moment, where he caught sight of yet another wooden board coming towards him. His enhanced reaction time and mathematical computation skills came into effect once more, determining that by a slight diversion in his movement he could allow the second plank to just barely pass him.

Perfect.

Now as close to Rayner as he could possibly get, Jerich exerted influence over his own body, amplifying one of his racial skills to it's limit. The abundance of electrical signals in his body became flushed and amplified by his Source, sent arching out the tips of his right arm's fingers, and directly towards the back of Rayner's body. The electricity would cause roughly a three second paralysis of the target, wresting voluntary control of his muscles like a taser, assuming the man had no extra electrical resistance aside from his skin. The lightning bolts jumped from location to location, covering the majority of the knight's body and armor if allowed to shock for it's full duration. It was his hope that the armor might actually help the affecting shock by conducting it directly into the foe's skin. Though with the proliferation of bolts, it was highly unlikely that less than a few to several would strike naked flesh, the Source-enhanced electricity programmed to temporarily commandeer his voluntary muscle units.

5 Seconds

Unfortunately, such an attack was not without it's side-effects. Celfoids were never meant to utilize their minor electrokinetic powers in such a way, and it was physically exhausting. Jerich could both hear and feel the sizzling of his own skin as the primal force exited his body forcibly. But he wasn't quite done, no.. not just yet. He continued hurling himself forward, on towards the second piece of lumber the wind had gifted in his general direction, his spiritual energies still granting him added velocity.

As it approached, Jerich would make the last split-second calculation he required. Taking into account his own velocity, as well as that of the plank and it's trajectory, he leaped only barely out of it's path of collision, torquing his body as he did so into a twist. His still scorching right arm extended and grasped the wood, from beneath the billowing curtain of auburn hair his eyes settled again upon Rayner. With what might his right arm could currently muster, he launched the board outwards, flicking his wrist and turning his fingers as he released to generate added spin. The board would be sent hurling towards the upper section of Rayner's spine, where Jerich had hoped the foe's head would be if he lost control over his legs and knees. With that, Jerich spent his remaining Monitor Bus energy exiting the arena.

His back made contact with the ground and skidded across the plain until he was effectively out of the fighting area. Admittedly it was a little painful, but he wanted to see the fruits of his efforts as he withdrew. It was obvious that after this little stunt, Jerich wouldn't be doing any reliable assisting any time soon. Took quite a chunk out of him, that one did.

Name: Bio-Computer

Type: (Passive)

Duration & Cooldown: (Passive)

Effect: Celfoids are essentially organic computers, capable of quick execution and calculation. They excel in solving problems. They possess supercomputer-like calculation speed, and can receive multiple streams of digital input. Basically, Celfoids are good at calculating things, and can ''multiprocess'' with great efficiency (such as utilizing 3-5 different streams of visual input simultaneously). In addition, all Celfoids have an ability known as Electrokinesis Type-II (EK-II), which allows them to influence minor electric signals to influence devices, such as computers, though not all Celfoids can hack with this utility.

Computation-M Wrote:

Name: Computation-M

Type: Mental (15% Drain)

Duration & Cooldown: Sustained / 5 (posts)

Effect: Computation-M allows a Celfoid to make split-second mathematical calculations at blinding speed, and greatly enhancing their ability to perceive physical action and occurrences as mathematical formula and problems. Through Computation-M, a Celfoid gains the ability to determine trajectories, arcs, patterns, and speeds of any target. In more basic terms, a Celfoid gains supernatural reaction speed. (Computation-M uses up 15% Drain for each post it is sustained)

Monitor Bus Wrote:

Name: Monitor Bus

Type: Physical/Spiritual (15% Drain)

Duration & Cooldown: Instant / 3 (posts)

Effect: Source pools in the feet and shoulders of the Celfoid, allowing them to rocket forward at speeds of forty-five miles per hour (45mph).

Overload Wrote:

Name: Overload

Type: Physical (20% Drain)

Duration & Cooldown: Instant / Once per battle

Effect: The Celfoid can forcibly enhance the power of their Electrokinesis Type-II at the cost of physical well-being. This results in a taser-like extension from the Celfoid's finger-tips up to three feet (3ft) that electroshocks the target, generally resulting in a post's worth of temporary paralysis (may differ based on opponent's resilience). It is super-effective against Young Skywalkers.

Physical Drain: 35%

Mental Drain: 15%

Spiritual Drain: 20%

( As an added note, The Monitor Bus ability was changed during profile revision and I don't exactly know/remember what that change was, so if I was mistaken about the speed involved in this technique, please correct me. Thank'ya. )

The Sovereigns Reign

Theme: Essence of Evil

The King of Greed and Glory- Engaged in combat with a mortal man, an inferior specie fighting a superior being- Yet something was to be said for the tenacity of the brave warrior. Not once had the look of fear ran over his face, not once had he fallen to Ertai's games. The swift display of his skill wasn't enough to get past the steadfast guard of the solider, let alone his armor. The rapier veered off against the metal, only causing enough force to hunch the fighter downwards- Not enough... Ertai had attempted this to stifle the young warrior and bleed him out where he stand, taking the wind from his body. He was met with his back slamming against the synthetic surface, for the most part he slid across the ground his overcoat absorbing most of the impact-

Ertai closed his eyes slightly as he felt the rush of power surge over his body just as Rayner's unforgiving strike would come slamming across the side of Ertai's face. His hand instantly left contact with the rapier, and it soon flipped out violently into the wind... The strike wouldn't cause Ertai to flinch, not for a moment yet it's effects became more evident as a slick of black ichor came flooding out across the fighters gauntlet and arm, spraying up across Ertai's face from the violence of the wind. Ertai's jaw had become jammed to the side slightly, effectively locking it place for the moment- This shut him up for only a moment as a sudden flash of electricity came before his eyes.

Jerich-

That pathetic Celfoid- The timing couldn't have been more perfect as he laid out the pain for Rayner. His team-mate dishing out a virtually free strike. The power of the electricity came veering off crackling along the ground. Ertai wasted no time getting to his feet with the sudden burst of agility and strength he was able to arch his back and throw his body upwards much the same as a martial artist... His body fired forward on all pistons as the mind burned through the annex of punishment. Ertai had only moments to prepare- His perfect body roiled with energy as he shot into his stance, the burning cold of his eyes stared down at the paralyzed Rayner as his right arm came arching back...

1-

The energy all around his right arm boiled around his hand. Darkness smeared reality with a smoky opaque stench. The look on his face was pure contempt. The 'Descending Dragon' stance was his most prominent and infamous stance- He combined many features using that of Xingyiquan to create a perfect linear stance that aimed to run through the opposition, Splitting;Drilling, Crushing, Pounding and Crossing. His feet in perfect placement with little effort, his right leg bending at the knee slightly and pressing forward with the foot. The left leg kept a flat stance and slid out much the same a pitcher does, yet his foot never left the ground; just sliding backwards as he sprung up bringing his fist forward- The force of resistance was evident by the bending and blurring of energy all around his hand, as if he was punching through an invisible bubble...

2-

Crushing-

3-

His fist came forward with a booming blast of concussive force came crashing down directly at the center of Rayner's paralyzed face. The force of energy was nearly four times the strength of Ertai's current strike which was currently being amplified even more by the ascension into his second stage of Concussive Black. This brutal strike aimed to knock the knight clean out of the fight by causing massive concussive symptoms and even brain damage, rendering the man unconscious. His mind boomed outwards as his fist would also follow through- Through the concussive blast if the man was still able to sit on his knees. If the knight took the full blow it would truly let him know- That Ertai was a powerful and unforgiving being, he used every aspect to win in combat. Even a well timed Striker from the fastest member of his team- The feint attack from the start and the attempted stifling rapier blow. Ertai was puppeteering this match for this single moment, where it was looked as if he'd win the pot- When the chips are down, the most ruthless leave the table rich... and bloody...

"You'll never remember this day... Pathetic mortal-"

Came booming outwards from his mind into the wind. His jarred jaw had limited his verbal capacity for speech at the moment, his mind would boom the message as he aimed to deal himself to victory-

Power Wrote:

--Sovereign's Reign--

Charge: Flash Charge II or Agitation charge II

Type: Offensive Strike

Duration: Instantaneous

Activation: Three seconds / Thought

Almost to the same effect of his Black Strike, Ertai can channel his psychokinesis through his physical strike to create a concussive blast. Unlike his Black Strike the Sovereigns Reign strike causes a displacement of resisting energy and force before the attack makes contact. This resisting force acts like a sling shot of energy; amplifying the damage nearly four times. Turning his once frame racking strike into a frame breaking strike. The key to this strike is preparation because of it's three second pull before the strike increases it's speed. The slow nature of the move makes Ertai vulnerable. The range of this strike is reduced by nearly four feet, giving it a distance of slightly over eighteen inches. This reduced rage makes it even more limited, but if the chance is given and the strike is successful it could very well end a fight.

Power Wrote:

Concussive Black Stage II: Upon gaining a second charge Ertai will advance into his second stage of psychokinetic power. This stage of power increases the smokey distortion and adds a wisping aura around his entire body. The increase of power has also slightly increased his physical speed and physical strength as well as adding some mundane psionic abilities. Upon touching Ertai the opposition is given in addition to the slight numbing sensation, a sharp jolt of lingering pain that will also dissipate once contact is disrupted.

Effects: Increased smokey visualizations, slight numbing and pain on contact, speed and strength increase by x1.5, ability to project his voice, telekinesis of up to fifty pounds.

Equipment Wrote:

Gloves of Dominion: Probably one of Ertai's most important piece of equipment. These gloves are a tight leather like substance, rumored to be the flesh of his fathers hands. Underneath the leather is a series of metal bindings and plates used for parrying blades and applying more physical damage. The bindings are thick enough to prevent direct severing, yet they are not connected and offer weak points between the bends of the fingers and around the side of the hands and behind the knuckle ridge. Across the knuckles are raised to provide protection and to add some extra sting. The palms of his hands are a series of three small plates, sectioning off the bottom of his palm and right below his fingers, adding protection and the ability to grip and maneuver his weapons. In addition the back of his hand has a slightly longer metal plate, providing increased protection and offensive capabilities. The final detail of these gloves is the hooking mechanism that protrudes near the bottom of the wrist. This latch is attached to a very thin piece of wire, the wire can provide an improvised garrote and act as a preventive measure from being disarmed.

Resistances Wrote:

Adverse Energies- Ertai's intense training and constant traveling through planar gates and through other means of energy has gained resistance to various forms of energy. Negative energy, electricity and quintessence. Ertai will brush off minor displays of these energy sources yet major or prolonged exposure to these sources can cause adverse effects and wear down the resistance.

Grim satisfaction.

He'd drawn blood. The human part of his brain couldn't help but laugh- it looked like he didn't bleed red after all- but the animal simply curled his lips back, baring teeth. It wanted more. Recoiling to take it. It wanted- what was--

Rayner had been subjected to many, many things in his time that hurt like a b***h. He'd been stabbed, cut, clawed open, burnt, knocked down stairs, and even all but frozen once. Only a few of those things in retrospect remained worthy of being referred to as "excruciating," and settled for more colorful, less complimentary turns of phrase. For a while at least, however, electricity was going near the top of his list.

The world flashed white.

3

Bolts honed in on the metal plates of his armor like the ol' Gaian "heroes" to a bar, sinking in and then diffusing into the leather built into each piece of armor specifically for the purpose of protecting him from the elements- even if he'd had fire in mind. Not near enough, however. The excess poured over his skin, exploding his nerves into pricks of over-stimulation, a wave of liquid fire rushing out from his torso across his limbs, striking and then moving into his body with literal lightning speed. Sight returned to widened and dilated eyes almost immediately, flashing white spots, but it was too late.

The pain raged and he tried to cry out desperately as he faintly managed to feel his muscles locking and his body tipping backward off his haunches, not even noticing the board striking the armor over the base of his neck and clattering over his head in what normally would have been sharply painful, if not much especially effective as more than distraction otherwise. All he managed was a growl- his teeth clenched tight, saliva and a tiny trickle of blood creeping over his lips as his shoulder struck the earth, and Ertai rose.

Move, you lazy son of a b***h! IT'S NOTHING. Eat it, relish it- move goddamn you!

2

The "god" rose and drew a fist back, and then forward- slow motion. As if a thousand hands held his arm back, restraining some kind of sickening energy even his damned body could practically taste on the air. Rayner's limbs twitched painfully, but for all the screaming he did inside his head refused to let him spring up to battle likewise, curling slowly as if into a ball while he nearly tipped flat onto his back off his a**. The sword was lost- he knew it was nearby, but at the moment even his knives seemed to be beyond his grasp.

1

USELESS ********-- ARE YOU GONNA LET IT END LIKE THIS!?

His teeth ground harder, jaw popping under the force as sheer agony arched through his body and he turned every ounce of his will to moving tightened limbs, forcing muscles to motion and tensing knots into balls of sheer pain, forcing his body through what little motion it was willing to make just as all the invisible hands seemed to lose their grip on Ertai- one by one letting the crackling fist slip forward, and the world out of seeming slow motion. Rayner's hands blocked it from his sight, left wrist bracing attempting to brace behind right.

As Hell crashed down.

0

Pain jarred his arms, locked so tight in his struggle against the bite of the electricity that it felt like they'd break before giving. But none the less- the metal atop his top guantlet screeched, warping and starting to bend under the force, just before the hellish fist slammed them back hard against his face, slamming Rayner flat onto his shoulders with a sickening crunch- if one could even hope to hear it over the crack of thunder that struck his ears, concussion wracking his mind and his upper body slammed to earth.

Stillness.

A faint, gurgling exhale left his lips.

--CRACK!--

One of the still coiled legs struck without pretense- driving the heel of an armored boot into Vexic's forward knee like a spear. The kind of hit that could have broken a locked joint backward.

The right hand flopped away from his face, numbly grabbing at the fake grass as his body rolled onto that shoulder, the offending heel sweeping out and trying to take any foot close enough out from underneath the other man as Rayner exposed his face, and fought against a body made of pain to sit quickly upward. Nose clearly broken, blood streamed around it and his mouth, but if anything his expression had grown more extreme- even past the slightly uneven pupils, his face was drawn into a crazed expression of amusement- like nothing kept him moving but sheer force of will and pure hatred. The blow had wreaked quite a bit of harm on the swordsman.

But clearly not enough.

Oh no. Rayner had survived warfare. He'd seen robots. Bombings. Magic. Three years of this hellhole of a tournament. Werewolves twice the size of this man. Crazy ******** who might as well have been the elements themselves. Twice he'd slipped into the fingers of death and just barely been tugged away. Been cut into by the bringers of entropy themselves- and that was when he had nothing to gain.

Now?

He laughed, picking it up right where he'd left off.

As far as he was concerned, no ******** with a few parlor tricks was going to get the better of him. Even if he'd do just fine to knock the rust loose.

First though, he'd try and get just enough space with that heel to quickly force himself stumbling to his feet. Just in time to start again.

... Most of it is just fabric in different shapes, but the duster can provide light protection, mostly against incidental harm (ie shrapnel) or things like whips, where as most direct blows or stabs will go clean through. ...

Brigandine Wrote:

Rarely worn in combination with his breastplate, this is a more flexible armor modeled after a kikko. Constructed with modern quality materials it is made by sewing hexagonal steel plates together in pattern, and triple layered, covering from the tops of the shoulders down to the hip, with an opening bottom to allow him to get at gear kept underneath. Though leather is already incorporated into the design, he often wears his duster under it to complete the effect, offering an excellent defense against slashing and most energy attacks for the full of his torso. Due to the triple layering it is also effective at stopping stabbing attacks, but does not offer much help against blunt force (including the force behind hacking or stabbing attacks it stops).

Violence Begets Violence

Theme: Eternal Champions

Ertai felt the satisfying impact of the Sovereigns Reign. The area around his arm had become darkened from the expulsion of energy. Ertai was elated until he seen the knight still moving- It hadn't even registered that a human could survive such an impact, let alone amplified the way it had been.

He felt the impact of the Knights boot against his knee, tearing the ACL yet not dropping Ertai just yet. The sweep from the knight had come in violently, slamming against the side of his opposite foot yet still not enough to drop the warlord- This sent Ertai into his first stage of mental agitation.

"Damn IT!...] He harked out as the knight struggled to get his footing. Ertai arched back and slammed down his foot- The expulsion of the Dominion wave came crashing forward. His damaged knee tearing again this time the MCL. He would drop as the violent expulsion of concussive energy came crashing out.

Ertai aimed to deal out his opposition into the wind-

Charge Wrote:

Agitation Charge: Much to the same degree of Ertai's Flash Charge, Ertai can acquire charges of energy but through other means beyond premeditation. Upon taking sufficient physical damage, Ertai's psychological state will begin to unravel into the deepest depravities that linger in his maelstrom of a mind. Each emotional change will provide a progressive but radical change in his temperament and provide a surge of energy. These charges like the flash charge have a maximum pooling of three power scales, any more than the maximum his physical body can hold and they merely dissipate in a faint blue glow. Limitations to the agitation scale occur if Ertai is continuously struck in the same action, even if the damage escalates and the agitation scale escalates. Ertai cannot gain another agitation charge until combat has been broken and his mind has been given a moment recalibrate itself. A maximum of one Agitation charge per round.

Agitation Scale:

Stage I: Irritated demeanor - Ertai becomes more vocalized about his contempt for the opposition and often makes minor rash decisions.

Stage II: Hostile demeanor - Ertai becomes more physically violent and contemptuous against his opposition and thinks less of his actions, sometimes placing himself into more danger than he normally would.

Stage III: Momentary rage - Ertai becomes enraged for small amounts of time. His thinking becomes more impaired and more rash.

Stage IV: Prolonged hostile rage - Ertai goes into a full rage and his actions are thought out on the cuff and often improvised and crude.

Stage V: Exhausted - Ertai becomes more sluggish and less interested with the fight and makes more defensive and reactive actions.

Stage VI: Cold demeanor - Ertai loses emotional attachments and becomes cold and calculated, his mind and intelligence shine through more precise and well placed attacks.

Stage VII: Momentary melancholy - Ertai becomes so frustrated with his actions he often slips in and out of momentary blankness where he often pauses in a fight to reflect on the deep swell of sadness.

Stage VIII: Momentary blindness and deafness - Ertai's mind becomes so agitated that it forgets to allow Ertai to see or hear for small moments. This often has major consequences in his actions.

Stage IX: Focused & Arrogant - Ertai becomes swarmed with a sudden feeling of arrogance and focuses on destroying his opposition no matter what the cost. His attacks resemble a more cohesive and harsh pattern, often exploiting any picked up weakness.

Stage X: Undaunted - Ertai flinches at nothing and his perception of pain is even further dulled down as he becomes a ruthless machine. His actions are quicker to respond and he carries himself with no facial emotions or vocalized comments.
