Let it begin…

The battle had finally begun.
Dithakar could have taken another step back, maintained his distance, but he was much more at home in close proximity to his opponent. Better, in fact, that the younger warrior have moved so close.
That is, until Elliot unleashed the ocular beam of light.
Despite the darkening skies overhead, and the natural shadow applied from the fauna that surrounding them, there was already a great deal of light between them; Emitted by the Lotus-Ryuu to shimmering effect.
But that radiance was far outstripped by Pope's sudden burst of energy, flashing it's dire glow straight for Dithakar's own eyes.
Silently.
Because, as one would only learn once they had locked weapons with the mighty monk, the sound dampening effect stretched out to include anything it touched. That, however, would not spare the elderly fighter from the attack; But he was hardly defenseless against it, and made that apparent now.
show spoilerhide spoilerDodge Training :: Monks are highly trained at dodging blows, and they have a sixth sense that lets them avoid even unanticipated attacks. When unarmored, Ditakar can access an impressive degree of acrobatics that allow him to escape mortal wounds in the same way any metal-bound knight might let an attack brush harmlessly over his armor. This ability applies even if he is standing very close to his opponent, or flat-footed. He loses this ability when immobilized, helpless, wearing any armor, or carrying a shield.
A lot of little things would happen all at once. First, Dithakar turned his head just so to the right while the rest of him dipped down a bit and to the left; Putting his face out of harms way almost entirely.
Almost…
As the attack had been a concentrated burst of energy, even the master monk could not totally remove himself from it. Thus it sliced an angry red line between the two dots upon his forehead, and brought the all too familiar sting of pain back into Dithakar’s life. The wound was not particularly deep, or even all that effective, but first blood had been drawn.
Well, somewhat. The wound had cauterized its self from the heat, and thus left little reason for loss of any actual fluids.
His surprise would’ve been apparent, in the instant before he moved, by the expression that he wore. His smile having turned to an uncontrolled grimace, if only for a moment. The flash, coupled with the ever deepening gloom around them, had dazzled the monk a bit. They were close enough together now that it would, hopefully, not negatively impact his next step.
Time to remove the illusion.
As previously stated, the monk’s extremities had not remained idle during the sudden ray; And Dithakar actively engaged himself in returning the favor. First, his right hand relinquished it’s grip upon the haft of his weapon while the left withdrew just a bit and solidified the hold. An action that, before Pope’s reprisal had even come to fruition, put the Lotus-Ryuu nearly horizontal with the elder warrior’s belt. As it dipped, angling toward a more downward diagonal tilt, the monk’s upper body worked to effect his evasive action.
Not only dodging the beam, but also priming himself for the next move.
Every muscle, from the tendons that ran down to his feet all the way up to the bands that gave drive to his shoulders, blasted forward them. Right leg pumping up and around as it brought the knee to bear against the length of his staff, his recently vacated palm snapping down to catch the glimmering bar of Harmony just so and brace it there. Forcing the elderly fighter to balance himself upon his left foot as he struck.
show spoilerhide spoilerSea of Strikes :: Monks of the Muay Thai sect are capable of attacking with multiple parts of their body simultaneously, and without losing balance.
The Lotus-Ryuu, normally so potent for it’s range, was now being used to channel the power of his [Eight Deadly-points] and [Stone of Ki] right through the staff and into this fully backed attack to Pope’s belt-line.
show spoilerhide spoilerEight Deadly-points :: Dithakar is a master monk in the discipline known as Muay Thai, a style that utilizes offensive potency through the feet, knees, elbows, and hands. This fact is responsible for the practice of Muay Thai also being known as the “Eight Deadly-points”. Though the most famous use by far, Muay Thai is not strictly offense based, and it’s defensive measure is known as “The Five Bands of Iron”. Which focuses on the use of shins, forearms, and the torso (specifically the abdominal, and pectoral muscles.) to defend against attack. Because of this, these areas are highly resistant to pain, and trained to deliver, or receive, massive amounts of damage. Minor injuries (Such as, but not limited to: shallow cuts, abrasions, physical concussive force [fists, feet, and the like].) to the eight sections, or the five, are easily shrugged off and will only serve to draw the monk into a aggressive state, known as Rage. However he is not invulnerable to such attacks, and consecutive damage to these areas will apply normally after he has been repeatedly struck.
show spoilerhide spoilerStone of Ki (Magic-Lawful-Diamond) :: Dithakar’s un-armed body is empowered with Ki, or soul-energy. His attacks are treated as magical axiomatic diamond weapons, and can damage any creature not immune to all three. With this ability, his Eight Deadly-points can reduce stone to dust, and crack any armor (save metals such as tungsten carbide, depleted uranium, or alloy 1090) like an egg shell given enough direct hits. The lawful quality is especially detrimental to chaotic beings (such as devils, and certain extra-planar creatures), or creatures which shift or change physically and mentally. (Detrimental meaning that it hurts them as though they were human, as opposed to the protections provided by such racial qualities) The magical attribute allows his body to directly interact with magical reinforcements such as shields of energy or enchanted armor. This ability stems from all three parts of the monk’s training; utilizing mind (magic), body (diamond), and soul (lawful). The Lotus-Ryuu is treated, for all intensive purposes, as though it too possesses this quality.
But the Monk had set something else into motion within the mystical working of his weapon. Another of it’s powers that, perhaps, his opponent would not expect. The staff, once a solid 8ft bo, had begun to separate at the juncture just to the outside of his knee; Connected by nearly two inches of shimmering chain-link. Likewise, further down the haft where the hit was intended, another section was set to separate upon impact.
The single, connected, Bo had become a triple-bar staff. It’s outermost section threatening to not only hit the monk’s target, but perhaps wrap around and strike from behind.
The rationale was simple: It was likely, but not guaranteed, that his opponent’s sight had been temporarily limited by the projectile attack, much as his own…if not slightly more. Enough so that he would be unable to adapt quickly enough to Dithakar’s own silenced counter-strike as he dipped the Lotus-Ryuu below the lip of his opponent’s kama.
Either way, it was a solid attack; Much stronger than the last one, and it would force Pope to make a decision. All the same, his smile had not quite returned; Leaving his lips drawn into a somewhat passive frown, or the like.
He could barely hear it, drawn into the battle as his was, but somewhere…not so far away…
The rain descended from on high like a sheet.
