1Sins of an Angel

It seemed that Rox was on the ball, and her tennis arm was impressive. Ryke didn’t find any disappointment in seeing her swat away the two projectiles with a -

WHAM to the left

and a

BAM to the right.

They were discarded with ease as she picked up speed to close the distance between them, mop-spear at the ready. Ryke wasn’t about to stop despite the display of skill and willingly agreed to meet the pink pixie in the middle.

”Eugh!”

When Rox tried to jab the filthy mop in her face, Ryke recoiled in disgust to avoid getting her “decks” swabbed and with a trigger hair reflex, grabbed hold with her right hand. It was a instinctive reaction anytime something was coming at her face, like the soggy and slightly brown head of an old mop. She pulled down and towards her, which meant the woman on the other end of the mop was coming with and be within range to get the bottle in her left hand introduced to her face.

At least that was the plan.

”Hey now! Don’t go attacking people with dirty mops, you don’t know where that thing’s been!”

"It sounds like it might be getting started without us."

"Then I guess we should be joining them." The orange and black fox ears sprouting from Madison's head pricked up, her eyes flashed as the aura her teammate had activated hit her. "So it has," In a quick but fluid motion, the fox girl sat up and stepped down from her hammock, taking the hand offered by her opponent. Unlike the fellow in front of her, Madison had opted for a bit of the pirate garb. Her legs were covered in form fitting black pleather material, half covered by knee high boots and a loose hanging belt. The off-white top was ruffled with slightly puffy sleeves, but was short in the torso, showing a small bit of midriff whenever she moved. The dark blue braid of hair that usually lay across her left shoulder was covered ever so slightly by a cliched red bandana.

"So then, are you one of mine?"

It did not even occur to Madison that her opponents may be coming into this match so blind, but with such a last minute tournament starting up, it made sense.

"I could be," she replied with a sly wink as she took her hand back from his armored one. "Sadly, not this time though."

Before the words had finished leaving her mouth, Madison's right leg shot up. Her foot poised to connect with his armored midsection. If it hit, her leg would straighten out forcefully shoving him back towards the stairs.

Well that was gratitude for you; offer someone a hand and they give you a foot in return.

That answered his question though, but it left the bigger question of who exactly his other team member was still hanging in the air. Upstairs he could hear muffled shouting but not make out the words, and the sounds of things being thrown around on deck, and it was just distracting enough that he'd looked away for an instant at just the wrong instant.

"That's a shame, then-- OOF!" The woman gave him a hard shove just as she let go of his hand and though it was barely enough to knock the wind out of him but it shoved him backwards a few steps... which would have been fine, if not for the open-topped crate of stale crackers in front of the stairs, that the young man promptly stepped into before falling a**-first down the stairs and disappearing from sight under a shower of hardtack. And an empty crate.

Whunk whunk whunk whunk whunk... THWACK.

"...awwwwwwwwww, raspberries."

Loppa's smile grew wider as da otha 'umie sheathed himself in armor. He wondered if it was powered by Chaos Magickz, or perhaps it was some machination from this land's Fire Stunties. As Loppa's maw opened, a dribble of blue spittle fell from the corner of his lips and touched the ground. Loppa had fought 'umies in armor half a thousand times before. There was a reason why they did - because ultimately they were still 'umies at their core. Weak, soft, tasty. Puny. Nothin' at all like a Black Orc. Loppa barely gave da new minted 'ard 'umie a second longer than he felt was appropriate. Just as his prey had squared off with a bat in response to Loppa's BIG STIKK, the terribly huge Orc did two things. He willed the bat to begin to grow an additional foot in length, and turn the majority of that newly minted length into a sharpened billhook, pointed back towards Loppa so as not to interfere with his first blow. Meanwhile he spread his stance apart, creating a more formal position from which he ought to have swung a bat. Loppa led with his right foot, twisting it in place on the deck. The teeth of his shoes whittled away splinters and long curled slivers as his swung his left leg back, his strength forced the twisting cleat to bite into the playing field.

"Mine'z bigga."

If da 'umie was smart, he should have known what was about to befall him. All of the stored up anger that Loppa had been expressing on the deck finally burst forth to the surface as he willed his tremendous body into action. The deck shattered around his feet from the strain of Loppa's take off. The Greenskin hopped forward, springing several feet off the ground but not too far forward so that he would not overshoot his attack. Loppa had wanted to give himself some momentum, mostly downward momentum, not turn his initial strike into a tackle or a sweep. He didn't need the bat to bloody a 'umie like that. As he hit the apex and began to come down, Loppa's anaconda sized arms swung da BIG STIKK, not horizontally as might have been expected, but vertically. Da BIG STIKK had been given a target by Loppa, as he swung downwards with enough force that an unprotected, and unarmored 'umies skeleton would have gladly leaped free from the skin of its owner so as to avoid the impending pulverization of so many bones. The intended contact point between the two was about halfway down the length of da BIG STIKK, and halfway between da 'umies left collarbone. This would have been a crippling blow almost assuredly, but that was why Loppa had demanded his opponent get tuffa in the first place. The Black Orc expected the armor to absorb the blow without fail, and if it didn't then he might have ta help da 'umie find out who sold him such poorly constructed wares.

As Madison's opponent toppled down the stairs he had only recently climbed up, she cringed. Oof. She walked towards the stairs, listening as her foe groaned about fruits.

You alright down there? Waiting for a reply, she reached towards her right ear and grasped the small teardrop shaped earring dangling from it. After removing the earring, she tightly gripped it in her right hand forcing it to change size and shape. A small vibration could be felt as the teardrop elongated and thickened. It did not take long for the shape of a baton to form and become stable. As soon as it was ready, she gripped the handle, ready for her opponent to spring back up the stairs at any point.

"Peachy!"

The reply that Madison received from the bottom of the stairs was accompanied by the triumphant return of HoH's beloved main character: the hardtack crate! Springing into action as only a box of suave style like itself could, spry and deadly like a panther. A wooden panther. From the expression on its grains, it was easy to tell that it was getting serious now and ready to rumble. That's why it was using its secret technique...

'It's up to you, partner!' shouted the crate's warrior soul as it proudly took a blow from the baton / smashed into Madison / crashed into the wall ineffectively (choose 1 or more, or write in other ____).

'You won't be forgotten, aibou!'

User Image

And then, something that clearly no one who read the previous part of this post would have seen foreshadowed at all and a complete surprise to the readers, the young man from Mountain came charging up the stairs right behind that box. I know, completely unexpected! He was aiming for the moment that Madison was distracted by the hardtack crate, whether by guarding it or evading it, and he aimed to charge right through her with a shoulder tackle as he came up the stairs -- his forearms were in front of his face to protect against kicks or smacks with the baton until he got close, but once he was within a foot and a half of her he would try to duck low and wrap his arms around her midsection so that he could lift her off the ground right as he hit her. If she were standing in front of the stairs going up the both of them would go charging out onto the mid deck; if she weren't then she would quickly find her back slammed up against a wooden support.

As her most ginger-headed of opponents reached for the business end of her mop, Rox knew exactly what she had to do. But she didn't. Did Pixie-Senshi actually want Ryke to grab hold of her makeshift polearm?

Short Answer? Yes.

Sins of an Angel Wrote:

> She pulled down and towards her, which meant the woman on the other end of the mop was coming with and be within range to get the bottle in her left hand introduced to her face.

Long Answer? Hell yes!

She'd get into range alright. Rush-hour-traincar-in-Gaia-Tokyo range.

Ryke pulled, and Rox stepped towards her with her right leg, this time rotating her entire body. She abandoned her two-handed grip since her foe sought to share whatever was left in that 750ml bottle of sea-piss. Her left hand maintained a tight hold on the mop handle whilst her right moved to intercept Ryke's swing. If things went as planned, she'd do so early enough to prevent the bottle from shattering as Ryke wouldn't be allowed to follow through with said swing.

-THUNK-

Part of Ryke's arm along with the bottle struck Rox's flexed arm/forearm.

She didn't always drink alcohol. But when she did, she preferred to do so from a glass, and NOT through blunt-force trauma.

Stream Fam was loving every minute of this. On the main display they'd see the network view focused on Kael and Loppa since suddenly, MECHSUIT! But that's not what they were here for. The Rox Box was all about that face cam. The one currently dominated by Ryke's mug.

Now the mop was pressed between them. Ryke held onto one end with her right. Rox held onto the other with her left. The rapid exchange had also left them in prime position to hug out their differences if they desired. Or, maybe slow-dance to the tune of Mother Nature that, come to think of it, was starting to sound a little angry.

Rox chose to do the former.

Sins of an Angel Wrote:

> ”Hey now! Don’t go attacking people with dirty mops, you don’t know where that thing’s been!”

“Sorry!” Rox was not apologizing for the mop, as Ryke was about to discover.

Her right arm, still stinging from the bottle, moved forward to grab hold of whatever she could on Ryke and show her appreciation for the drink offer-

show spoilerhide spoilerDash

Rox will suddenly accelerate in a given direction at a speed of up to 15 m/s over a period of 1.5 seconds (part of one post). Common uses for this ability are to dodge, double jump, or close in for an attack.

By glomping her through a door towards the aft of the ship at 33mph, leaving a sparkly trail of glitter in her wake. Spoiler Alert: that door got wrecked. There's a good chance that the two weren't even perpendicular to the door to begin with. In that case, Rox would adjust their trajectory so that Ryke would be the first to "enter". “Age before Beauty” and all that jazz.

What await them in the next room was the mess hall, albeit cramped AF. That table looked as if someone made an honest effort to set it, but just didn't. Not that it mattered now, since the two women were likely to ensure that no one would ever eat on it again.

Now, Loppa had been patient enough to let him get all gussied up for the occasion, and had a good ol' chat to boot, but Rayner had been expecting him to be hopping to go soon as he took his fighting post. Instead, Jolly Green here was giving him one more little surprise even as he squared off into the big baseball stance it would have taken a soul utterly bereft of appreciation for such... frankly, slightly terrifying humor.

Oh, joy, his magic stick knows tricks.

His blood boiled, adrenaline starting up, a drop of fear in the excitement coursed through him, focus sharpening, hairs on end- either he'd missed his televised bouts of suicidal stupidity quite a bit after all, or Rox was becoming infectious as well as viral. His grin split into a little laugh, something under his breath inside the helmet, just loud enough to hear, if anyone nearby, and likely big and green, had good ears and wasn't too riled up for what came in about a second, while Rayner kept his eyes peeled for that shift in the shoulders, lest he blow it early and eat the butt of that thing.

"Sa-wing, battah battah batt-"

Not Jak Okay Wrote:

> "Mine'z bigga."

Then the orc went up- and the stick went up. And that was notaswinghe’deverseenAthan-

No time to think, Rayner leaned forward bracing his shoulders, head down, and his leg pushed off as all the jets across his back and legs fired off at once, boards crackling and splitting at the sudden burst of force, slinging his armored body up and forward like a bolt- straight into the oncoming Loppa. He’d he’d expected a different swing and had a different plan for the board all but ready to split further in his armored hands, but too late- he’d brace the broken end in front of him, like a shoddy spear, jamming a jagged and splintered end up at the underside of his upper arm or armpit as the swing came down. He’d been hoping to collide with the big lug’s body and avoid the blow, but a head start and close space didn’t afford much for it when the swing wasn’t precisely the one he’d been planning for. The board met flesh, and almost immediately two fists around a big club came right down atop his shoulders and upper back- better than eating the midsection of the thing, definitely-

But he hadn’t been expecting Loppa to be quite such a walking disaster that eating the spike would be accompanied by a burst of spots across his vision and a crackling explosion of the deck splitting under the four-hundred pound projectile slammed into it, rockets flicking off as he bowled a**-over-head into a set of barrels, catching his fall in a sudden pile of boards, rope and… something very fowl that should never have been pickled.

Rayner shook his head, rolling onto his side and scrambling to get on all fours and look up- he wasn’t wasting a second more than absolutely necessary, lest that thing try to goomba stomp him this time. Good news, the armor’s plating and absorption had held up beautifully, body aching from the shock but still fully in commission. Bad news- the s**t they let into this tournament was getting bigger and scarier. He took one look at the splintered boards, figuring out the ends, took a guess at where Loppa was- if he wasn’t peaking over the edge already and giving Rayner some help- and thrust himself upward, fists out ahead as this time every rocket spread across his body gave a sharp roar, looking to split another hole in the deck and launch himself back up top. He wasn’t sure what else he’d find going on up there in a moment, but he was thinking about his veggie-friend, and hoping to come out on the opposite side of him from the first little pocket he’d left- leaving Loppa suddenly standing mostly on boards broken off at each end. With a hop like that, it wouldn’t mire him below decks long, but Rayner was betting he didn’t have jets on him at least.

9Sins of an Angel

While Ryke liked to think of herself as fairly clever, and quite crafty, especially in a fight - reality didn’t always match to one’s image of themselves. What she thought was a smart move turned out to not quite work out in her favor, much to her dismay. Rox was again quick, like some kind of weird pink-pixie-winged cat fast, and relinquished the mop spear with one hand in order to block the incoming swing of the bottle.

SMASH

It clashed loudly against her forearm and broke into numerous glass chunks, spilling the aptly named sea-piss all over both fighters. The smell of lukewarm, and probably poorly distilled liquor did not mix well with the salty sea air and it took all she had for Ryke not to lose her lunch all over poor Rox (all the while trying not to eat mop and fighting for control). Luckily the skies above them were looking a little less than impressed with the goings on around the ship and was about to unleash some unholy storm upon them to wash off the smell of old, ill-kept alcohol. Sure, it would have also made their brawl a little more challenging but what was a good scrap without some hazards?

Quote: Wrote:

> “Sorry!”

Well, at least her opponent was polite! ”Hey no hard feel-” her words were sharply cut off by the sensation of being pushed, her footing effectively taken out from beneath her. Backwards they went soaring - ”Wait wha-OHSHI-”

CRACK went the mess hall door under their combined weight and they were flung right into the dining table, or rather, Ryke was since Rox so kindly saw to it that she was the first quite literally through the door and into whatever was behind it. Their teammates below would surely be able to hear the racket they were making now, from the rattling of dishes and flatware, to the clanking of pots and pans as they shook the inner cabin with their stomping around.

The action was sudden and caused Ryke to stumble back so naturally she lost the game of tug-o-war on the mop spear. She didn’t want to become a sitting duck pinned between Rox and the table though so she grabbed whatever was at hand - a dinner plate - and took a shot at her opponent before trying to scramble away, latching onto the nearest chair as if she was trying to hide. ”Listen pixie stix, I appreciate you wanting to take me to dinner but maybe we should just be friends!”

Unf. The short man had run straight into her stomache, knocking the wind right out of her and sending the two back into one of the support beams. Her back connected, sending pain right through her spine. A painful sigh escaped her as she moved to slam her arms down onto her opponents head/back.

Around about this time the ceiling above where she had just been standing gave way. The rolly-polly form of a metal man crashing into the lower deck's floor. He seemed to disappear back above ground as quickly as he had appeared. Seemed things were kicking off in a big way on the top deck.

Well this was a step in the right direction, at least. He didn't know who this woman was, and there had been more than one incident in the past where he'd had to tangle with tiny women who had the strength of ten gorillas, but he felt a good, solid contact with one of the wooden supports and heard the wind knocked out of her which gave him a small bit of confidence that he wasn't going to be hurled through the deck in the next five seconds... unlike whatever had just happened behind him as a human-shaped ball of metal and splintered wood came crashing through the ceiling and then shot right back out where it had come from in a flash of fire and sound.

Below deck wasn't really going to be below deck much longer if that was the pace things were going at... but it wasn't a bad idea either. As the woman slammed her arms down on the back of his shoulders the young man redoubled his grip on her as soon as they came away from the wooden beam; one arm wrapped around her waist and upper thighs, the other a little higher around her lower back grabbing onto as much of that pirate shirt as he could get for a firm grip, and with his head tucked in against her hip to try and keep it at a bad angle for her arms to lash out at Anson picked Madison up higher... as high as he could, up over his shoulder to the point she might crack her head on the low ceiling and even going so far as to throw himself up on the tips of his toes with that lurching movement -- just to get as many extra inches of height as he could before he brought her back down again; doubling over and using the momentum of the swing to make carry the woman into a full on powerslam into the lower deck right below where those two fresh holes in the ceiling.

Of course, in situations like this were he in his super-secret alter ego of Justice Guy, masked vigilante of justice, he would shout something dramatic and hero-like to punctuate the fact that he was bolstering himself with hero juice (also known as magic) to really make this one to remember. However, he wasn't in his super-secret alter ego of Justice Guy, so instead he shouted something related to the Wolf soul.

Celeste had moved out of Loppa and Rayner's way and was confused the start of the whole thing. Normally there was some kind of 'starter' but then again, if her teammates and opponents so desired, that was fine. She'd keep a look out for any opportunities to hel--

As she heard the eloquent voice of the elf, she turned her attention towards it, "I'd almost think a dance was indeed what you had in mind were you not bundled in such a beautiful shell," She teased the elf lightly as her right hand dropped, unclipping the whip and with a fluid and almost delicate seamless motion, flicked the the whip to life, wrapping around his legs, forcing them together and hopefully the elf off balance and down to his delicate posterier as she dragged him closer, her own thighs and arms getting a work out. Luckily, they weren't just thicc but strong too.

"Come a little closer."And away from the mess of a fight, she needed a little room to work.

[1]

13Adrinai Telasai

Adrinai saw Celeste reach for her weapon. It would seem that she was the sort to take the lead on the dance floor after all. As the whip came up, Adrinai crouched lower, putting more of his body behind his shield.

Adrinai had faced whip fighters before, and was well aware of the damage that the unassuming weapon could do in trained hands. At least the Paladin's weapons of choice were firmly attached to him and not easy entangled or disarmed. Unfortunately for Adrinai, the whip didn't come at his body, but rather came around below the shield and wrapped around his legs. As greaves and gauntlets were the only armor pieces that he had chosen to wear to this fight, it was fortunate that she'd attacked low enough that the greaves kept the whip from biting directly into skin, so he found himself entangled but otherwise unharmed thanks to his minimal armor. Since he'd already dropped into a low crouch, it was only a short fall to the deck when she yanked his legs out from under him.

He landed and immediately sat up, not allowing the whip to pull him completely prone. He could easily let go of the buckler's handle, freeing up a hand to try to get the whip off of him, but his gauntlets would make his fingers clumsy and maneuvering his kite-shield-encumbered left hand would be even more difficult still. Instead, he raised his buckler and pressed a button set into the handle. The leading edge of the buckler, which extended out beyond his armored fist, flowed outward even further, the dark metal growing longer and thinner until it had formed into a razor sharp blade a few inches beyond where the blunt edge of the buckler had been. He pulled his legs in so that he could reach past them and brought the buckler-blade down hard on the whip, biting into the rope and through it to the deck below, severing it and freeing his legs.

"Oh, how clumsy of me! I didn't know the steps to that dance, but I'm a quick learner!"

He pressed the same button on his buckler, and the sharp edge retracted back into the shield, leaving it free from the wood of the deck. He pushed down against the ground with both shields, springing to his feet, and kicked off, sprinting toward Celeste. He once again raised his Kite shield, bracing the top edge with his right forearm. He wasn't slowing down as he closed the gap between them, aiming to shield-tackle her with his full body-weight behind it.

Gnomish Buckler: Adrinai's buckler, which he wears strapped to his dominant hand, is a piece of Gnomish engineering. While it normally appears and functions as a normal steel buckler, Adrinai can use his thumb to manipulate a pair of switches on the handle of the buckler that can cause either a curved blade to form from the leading edge of the buckler, extending only slightly beyond the original curve of the shield as the metal thins out to form the blade, or a 6" spike to protrude from the center of it. Both the blade and the spike are formed from an arcane-infused metal known as Livesteel, which can be crafted to have both a dormant and active form that is toggled with a current of tuned arcane energy. While dormant, the two weapons merely appear to be a part of the buckler. For the purposes of Adrinai's abilities that affect shields and weapons, the Gnomish buckler can count as both a shield and a weapon.

Loppa hovered near the edge of the hole where da metal 'umie had disappeared below deck from his first blow. The newly exposed interior of the ship had shed light (and smells) on two pests that seemed to be waging their own war without having invited anyone. How ********' rude was that? It was odd though. Loppa seemed to know that they had been down there all along somehow. Even odder, he seemed to know that his opponent was down there as well and pretty much exactly what he doing. Which was, at this moment, trying to stand back up on his two feet while seemingly trying to reconcile just how a magical baseball bat swung by an Orc had managed to get the better of him like that. And although from Loppa's perspective, he had pretty much all but failed to notice the rather large splinters sticking out from under his right arm, the burst of noise and heat that had come just before and during the pairs initial collision had not gone unnoticed. The Black Orc had no ability to reckon even the slightest concept of just what that had been, so he tabled the problem for later. Right about then his tattered green ears pricked and swiveled about at the sound of someone calling out his name, Go Loppa! One of the kids that were of da puny 'umie woman's brood had shouted out encouragement to him from their place in the "stands". He smiled and waved back at them rather than jump down into the hole in order to begin smashing dat steel boy some more wit 'iz BIG STIKK. Momentum was important. Bashin' was important. But contracts were also important.

Then... movement. The sensation was odd to Loppa. The Black Orc was a beast already gifted with preternaturally hearing and smell, to the extent that he could still fight in the dark and know exactly what was happening around him, but this was something else. It was genuine sight, no, it was knowledge, as if some mad Shaman had conjured up a message specifically for him and dumped all of its contents into the thimble that passed for the Greenskin's cranium. Loppa focused on the noise and smells below and pulled this outside information together with his own senses to form a map. The foreignness of what made da 'umie's armor tic bothered Loppa. If it had been forged by sum uh dem mad stunty boiz out in da wastes, then there was no telling what it could or couldn't do. He would need to be careful, but there was fat chance of that happening if things got really heated. You didn't get to be a pro by being careful. You got there by smashing gits 'n doin' stuff that no one woulda ever done outside of their dreams. And that was Loppa, he was a ********' dreamer, which would explain why he knew where everyone was! Gork 'n Mork foresaw he'd be fightin' something made by the most batty of dawi and felt that it was only fair he be given a boon in equal measure! If Gork 'n Mork were 'elpin Loppa out then that meant this battle demanded he do his God's favor by showing everyone in these foreign lands just what one of their adherents could do. And who betta than a Black Orc?

Loppa's guts churned as a boule shunted up his throat, and he turned to swing DA BIG STIKK once more. His muscles bulged as Loppa put his back into it, causing the splinters under his bicep to fly out of his flesh powered by overpressured, green blood. Loppa's eyes narrowed, he could see da 'umie stand up. He heard a whine, and a series of crackling booms as he began to rise from the floor of the deck below. Loppa's mouth opened, unraveling a forarm sized tongue, and in it the metal boule. The projectile flew forth from his maw as he spat it out, a number of tiny labcoat wearing Loppa's inside of his head did calculations, nodding to one another and coming to a quorum. His arms and back swung with a terrible power, in a practiced motion his hips dipped and twisted. Da 'umie started to reappear through the floor, the wood deckboards splintering around him as he reemerged topside. His eyes never wavered from his target: the boule. BIG STIKK's sweet spot rang out with a booming CLACK! of mystical wood turned sporting equipment against the heavy, metal projectile. The boule turned into a blur for a pico second and then was simply untraceable to Loppa's eyes as it gained speed. He didn't need to be able to watch it though, the Black Orc knew where and what he had aimed for: dat git's head. The little 'umie's husband woulda or shoulda been all the way through the deck by that point, and the boule was going to greet him for his trouble.

"Fee'z-Fi'z-Foe'z-Mukk-U'ze!"

Loppa sang his retort to his opponent in his sing song voice after he finished following through with the swing and began reversing the momentum back to a ready position in order to choose his next action which was probably- Ah, Gits. The thin wedge of decking that Loppa had found himself on in between the initial gaping hole, and da 'umies returning one on either side of him found the denser than stone Greenskin prove too great a strain for the deck to handle. The Swiss cheese'd top deck gave way, and Loppa fell through almost cartoonishly as he practically hovered in the air for half a heartbeat before gravity remembered to do its job to the mid-deck. The pair below having been forgotten for a moment, Loppa's arrival may have actually ended with with the three hundred and sixty pound Orc landing on both of them a** first.

Valerie's head turned as beats in the action happened, chronologically and literally. She wa most interested in Loppa, though her eyes were on everyone, even if peripherally. Hopefully she didn't crush these kids' parents... but then again, a fight was a fight!

She grinned wide as she pulled out a bag of homemade fish jerky from one of her pockets.

"When I'm eventually fighting, you guys had better cheer me on, a much as you are everyone else."
