The Crimson Hawk Hotel

The Crimson Hawk is located near the waterfront in the city of Latent; a port town on the eastern coast that has become a bustling center of commerce and fighting enthusiasts thanks in no small part to the presence of the prestigious Leviathan Stadium which sits on a bluff toward the northern end of town. The center of the festivities in the annual Heaven or Hell tournament for almost a decade before the event suddenly shut down, Latent had grown tremendously during those years as more and more attention was focused on the small seaside town... only to see a sudden downturn in commerce as the once prodigious crowds that flocked to the seaside town for the annual fighting festival no longer came through.
The Crimson Hawk was formerly a luxury hotel, one of the finest in the area, until it was formally purchased by Elia Noah upon the eve of Heaven or Hell 2007. This acquisition coincided with going public with the existence of The Noah Foundation; a Gaia-wide charitable works organization which has maintained the tradition of Heaven or Hell through various other companies and stockholders over the years. Though this organization seemed to vanish into the mist just as quickly as it appeared several years ago, after it moved most of its resources to a massive man-made island off the eastern coast.
Left behind on the mainland as a monument to its former glory, the Crimson Hawk hotel sits in downtown Latent towering over the surrounding buildings. A great deal of remodeling was done to the hotel prior to and following every contest year (due largely in part to the clientele it provides rooming for), making the building seem to grow five more floors each time the tournament came around.
Outside of serving as the staging grounds for a seemingly defunct tournament, the Crimson Hawk still functions as a hotel during off-times of the year and, because the tournament has not been held for several years, this seems to be its primary purpose now. As the largest hotel in the city, it provides the majority of the rooming for arena combatants, businessmen, travelers and other guests of high social standing that can afford to stay in the most luxurious hotel in the port town.
There is both an outdoor pool beside the hotel and an indoor pool located on the north side of the building on the ground floor, complete with hot-tubs and a greenhouse glass ceiling. There are also separate-sex saunas located on the ground floor, a gym stocked to fulfill the needs of even meta-human guests, as well as a four-star restaurant adjacent to the lobby complete with bar. The sub-levels of the Crimson Hawk are strictly off limits, as are the 61st through 63rd floor suites, though roof access is permitted.
The rooms on the upper floors are the ones that had been provided for competing teams in the past are luxury suites, each easily large enough for four people and for the purposes of security the stairs, elevator, and hallways above the 38th floor are under video surveillance. The middle floors consist of single and double rooms, and the lower floors are the cheapest, smallest, and least luxurious of the Hawk's available amenities.
On the main floor there are a number of conference rooms, as well as the grand ballroom for holding events such as the annual ball that had been held during tournament years and is still held each year on the anniversary of the occasion even though the tournament does not come around anymore.
exclaim As the date for the annual ball approaches, fliers have been distributed around town announcing it to be a masquerade ball, with open invitations to any fight enthusiasts that have an eye for a challenge. Though rooms are still available for rent at the Hawk, all of the luxury rooms on the upper floors have been completely booked up and extra security has been hired in the hotel in the past few weeks.
exclaim The guests that had reserved some of the private suites seem to be arriving one at a time... the upper floors begin bustling with activity after weeks of dead silence. And these people... these faces... so many of them can be recognized from the days of --
exclaim The Masquerade Ball has begun! The party is being held in the grand ballroom on the main floor of the Crimson Hawk. Although it is a themed party, no state of dress is required and one must only show one of the fliers advertising the masque to be allowed in. However, because there is an open bar and no dress code it is an 18+ event (relative to human age ranges, the doorman has a handy reference chart to use with elves and other long-lived races). Should you require a mask for the event, gold and silver colored masks are available at the door. For any other needs, please see one of the serving staff in the ballroom.
