Inwardly, he breathed a sigh of relief as tension he wasn't aware he even had in the first place, left him. Shin was definitely not his favorite person in the world. As if I could ever get along with...

"Mmm...I received an interesting letter while I was finishing up at Aeka. It was all the more curious because the only person I told I was going there was you..." He continued staring past the side of her neck, his head nestled gently against her; the sun still setting in front of them. "So of course I thought it was you...writing me again even though I wasn't gone for that long...but it wasn't." He would stand up straight now, working out the temporary kink he had gotten in his right shoulder from leaning in with her, "and the damndest thing was in it... asking me here for a reunion of some sorts." He would turn away from her slightly as he ran a hand through his hair now, as if uncomfortable with this next part "there were specific names in the letter, Princess- including a friend of yours."

"You don't have to drag the name out. It'll be dragged out for you." She smiled, "I do remember what this world is like, you know. I grew up in it. You may not be the biggest name but people remember." She held the paper work to her chest as she pressed the button to the elevator and watched it slowly climb. Green eyes glanced up impatiently, she wanted to get into family and friends mode again too, but not until the work was done.

"As for your daughter, she knows you wear it when you fight so she's claimed it for the moment and was trying to prove that she was just as badass as her papa. It did prove to be rather fire proof when she tried to fireball me from inside the sleeves as least. Dropped a water bomb on her to make my point though." She laughed at the image of the drenched curly haired chaos monger that was Rayner's daughter. Even if she'd then had to dry her off. "So it looks like some of Cel's enchantments have held true."

The elevator dinged and opened, leaving the petite woman to step through it. "I ordered dinner for all of us, except Drake. He said he'll defend for himself."

[Latent - Crimson Hawk Suites: Celeste and Family]

Flopping back into the bed, Cel grabbed her eldest daughter and cuddled her tightly. "Why do you have to be so difficult?" She inquired even as the girl wrapped up around her mother, her freckled face already showing signs of sleepiness. "It's my nature." the precocious daughter nodded rather matter of fact. "I wouldn't be me if I wasn't." Cel laughed and ruffed the girls dark curls. "Don't ever let a boy tell you any differently, ma petite."

Her gaze departed from the beautiful vista as she turned to look at him. The way he had shifted his stance, the subtle shift in tone, and the way he ran his hand through his hair the way he always did when he was anxious or unsure-- it caused her to once again raise a fine brow at him as the nervous energy seemed to infect her too. Her hair blew about her face, and she absently reached a hand up to tuck the unruly wisps behind her long pointed ear.

"Oh?"

She crossed her arms and tilted her head slightly as she responded simply, waiting for him to elaborate. The fact that a letter had found his way to him so deep in the forest out of the blue, when his travels hadn't been a public affair was definitely bazaar. She was immediately uncomfortable as it implied that someone was watching them or very closely keeping tabs on their movements. That kind of thing rarely meant anything good in either of their experience.

'No wonder he seems unsettled...' she thought.

"...huh." The young man in the elevator took a step to the side when the blue-haired woman stepped in. It had been so long since he'd used an elevator that he'd completely forgotten to hit the button once he got in, and the fact that it had been going up was because someone had pushed the call button rather than it just magically going to the floor his room was on.

'Just... not going to say anything about that and casually push... this... button...' his hand slowly and nonchalantly drifted towards a button towards the top of the panel and then slowly and nonchalantly went back to his pocket. '...smoooooth...'

It was going to be a long ride though, as it looked like the woman was going down so he would have to ride it all the way back to the bottom and then all the way up again. He didn't recognize her, so she may have been one of the locals or a tag-along... or even the outlandish concept of a regular hotel guest who was in this coastal town for the summer beaches and had nothing to do with the upcoming masquerade ball.

...perhaps he had spent too much time around things that made no sense at all, because right now he was overthinking every single person that he passed in this hotel.

arrow Somewhere.

There was nothing quite like an evening stroll.

!

"What's this?" On the ground was a piece of paper; tattered and covered in dirt, but luckily still legible. Picking it up out of sheer curiosity to give it a quick once over. Which would then be crumpled up and discarded upon reading. It was an invitation to an upcoming Masquerade.

"Soon." And off they went.

[Latent - Crimson Hawk Suites: Tellus]

Tellus smiled politely at the other person in the elevator. If she noticed his 'smooth' move, she gave no indication. She reached over and pressed the ground floor button, and turned to him with a pleasant smile.

"Hello," leaning back, she glanced down at the clipboard and flipping through a few pages from Rayner, as well as her own clipboard. Glancing at the package she'd gotten from Cel, she glanced at each picture as the elevator worked it's way down. Silently, she glanced at the stranger in the elevator with her and then back to her paper.

If she wasn't completely off base, the man was a fighter. Perhaps back for the reunion. But she understood the need for privacy, so she continued to say nothing unless spoken to until the elevator reached the lobby and the business center. Offering a small wave, she offered a sincere, "Good luck this year," before she stepped out and made her way to fax the information.

Crimson Hawk Elevator... going down?

Tei Kae Wrote:

> "Hello,"

"Good afternoon, ma'am," the young man smiled back in her direction; that wholesome type of smile that attractive young men often make toward attractive young women to try and hide their evil intentions... which meant that he was either a remarkably good actor, or it actually was a wholesome, warm smile. The young man's golden blonde hair slipped past his ear as his head dipped down slightly as he stooped to turn his face to her as he smiled, and his right hand came out from his pocket to tuck it behind his ear.

The young man chuckled at her statement. "Miss, I have no idea what you may be referring to..."

Unless someone else was waiting to get on the elevator, the young man and his bag would wait for the doors to close and then ascend to the upper floors again.

Rayner grinned, even as he rolled his eyes at the mention of the name and waved a glove hand at it, every aspect of the expression repeated in increased extreme as his daughter's antics and inflated opinion were repeated at him- until she mentioned their impromptu testing, interrupting it all with a snort. Only the mention of his eldest daughter's... 'friend' brought down his cheer, and he finally nodded her off as she stopped into the elevator, starting to turn back to the rooms before the other figure in there made him do a quick double take-

And the doors gently sealed shut.

Well. If it mattered, he could find out later.

Putting all of it, dragons in particular, out of mind, he went back to the door to his family's rooms, quietly slipping inside. The urge to just let the relief and excitement come out and announce himself got stamped down with a quick look at the sleeping twins, and he snuck around the bed, flopping himself on one side of the little redhead and wrapping an arm across the both of them, squeezing tight and leaving a kiss atop her hair. "Hey princess! Look at you all geared up for battle," letting jacket she was getting lost in get crinkled up between them. And finally, shooting Cel a look with commiseration struggling to win out with general adoration directed at the room as a whole.

Outside & Lobby of the The Crimson Hawk

“Maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe, we should wait another 15 minutes….”

“Uh-how about no. I’d like to grab a shower. Unlike you I didn’t have time to-”

”You are the famous ZANDRA RYKE OF TEAM WIMMENZ AND TEAM AWESOME. GET IT WHILE YOU CAN BOYS. SHE IS SINGLE AND READY TO MINGLE.”

Damnitt Izzy.

“What-hey wait NO! IZZY! I SWEAR-” Flustered, she attempted to stifle the woman’s shouts, scrambling to get her while being accosted by the press, now suddenly interested in their presence once they were given a name. Ryke ignored their desperate attempts at getting even the slightest of story for their news-starved sources. After all, nothing of notoriety had happened around these parts for quite some time and there weren’t many other familiar or notable faces hanging around.

She forced her way through the small crowd, but immediately threw them a distraction. ”LOOK! It’s-uhh-” She blanked for a moment, trying to think of a person with notoriety. [********- SOMEONE MORE FAMOUS THAN ME!”

Slightly confused, the reporters exchanged puzzled stares with each other and looked around the immediate surroundings for anyone of interest. Ryke was able to escape the swarm which was already starting to disperse and wander off towards where the fight had been happening out in the parking lot. She had spied some regal looking elf woman and her assumed beau take to the sky and head for the roof. Maybe that would keep them busy for a while.

”I just started another cigarette. You know smoking ain’t allowed in this fancy a** place!”

Grabbing Izzy by the arm, Ryke wasn’t about to take any chances that she would try and draw a crowd again. “Don’t care. Let’s go.”

There was no line for the front desk, much to her relief, which meant the check in process would hopefully be quick and without complications. Or so she thought it would be. Ryke greeted the clerk with a well-checked eagerness, “Hi, I’d like to book a team suite. For the tournament. Talked to someone on the phone earlier about it.”

Mitzi - as it said on her well polished nametag - looked up from her computer and over the rims of her glasses. She seemed less than enthusiastic, and the two black, fuzzy cat-like ears atop her head twitched once or twice in annoyance. ”I’m sorry but all suites are reserved and that floor is not being booked at this time. We are of course taking bookings for the ball and exhibitions. Are you here for that perhaps?”

“What? No. I mean Heaven or Hell? The famed annual tournament?” Ryke scrunched her nose in mirrored annoyance and dug around in her pockets for the flier. “Here;” she handed it over to the clerk who scanned it briefly before realization dawned upon her. Only, it wouldn’t be the revelation Ryke had hoped for. “Oh. I’m afraid there has been a misunderstanding,” she stated, flatly after handing the flier back.

“What? Misundersta- I talked to someone on the phone and she said-” but the catgirl cut her off mid sentence. **“I’m afraid that there has been a misunderstanding.” she reiterated, again, and putting emphasis on the word misunderstanding as if there was a language barrier between them. “The only event taking place that we are accepting reservations for is the masquerade and exhibition fights. Did you want to book a room or not?”**

Feeling a little deflated, coming down off the high that came with the notion of participating in another HoH after so many years, Ryke exchanged quizzical glances with Izzy. “I mean, we’re already here. So ... I guess?”

He took the opportunity to reach into his open jacket as if suddenly remembering something. "Which reminds me- when I got here, I just so happened to find this." He produced a finely half crumpled up version of the flyer that had been set loose into all of Latent - its condition owed to the altercation with the strange fighter he had encountered earlier.

He held it out to her, even a frown framed his face. "Seems too convenient for my taste..."

Once he had received the letter at Aeka, he had then made sure to contact and ask for Sierra to meet him at the Crimson Hawk. He had also made sure to send notice to a certain upstart youngster who he was sure was spending most of his days cooling his heels.

The flyer itself advertised the ominous and perfectly timed masquerade ball that was to take place in the Hawk.

11Lady Sierra

He didn't answer her question, but she decided not to press him about it. At least not right here, right now. Even though they were seemingly alone on the roof, you never knew who was lurking and listening. And if there was the chance that someone was following Vahn, better to play it safe for the time being.

She took the flyer from him as he held it out, smoothing it in her hands as best she could and studying it with a furrowing of her brow, a crooked twitch to her lips as she frowned.

"They hold this every year, but it's usually on a much smaller scale. Kimiho usually attends in my place, on behalf of the DSG."

Sierra had withdrawn from the public spotlight after the chaos of EDEN had come to an exhausting close. While she received many invitations to events, she rarely attended personally.

She glanced at Vahn with a twinkle in her eye as she asked, "Does this mean I'm going to need a dress?"

If something was up, chances were Vahn was planning on investigating. He'd always been the type to go looking for trouble, rather than having it come looking for him.

"This is close enough."

A taxicab pulled up to the hotel, and a platinum-haired young man carrying a duffel bag and dry cleaning stepped out. Still dressed for business-casual, it seemed he had come straight after work. He turned and slipped a few coins into the Cabbie's outstretched hand, before nodding him a farewell with a curt smile.

"Keep the change."

The young man turned around as the cab pulled away from the curb, and slowly looked up to take in the sight of the hotel before him. A small smile crossed his lips. It was nostalgic being back here again, after all this time. It was nice, like coming home... but strange, and foreign at the same time. The only reason a kid like him could have ever come here in his youth in the first place was no longer happening, hadn't happened for a very long time. Why now? What was drawing them back here? Something about it made him feel uneasy.

He looked down at the envelope in his other hand. Perhaps calling it a letter had been too generous. Stuffed inside was a small note, and a flier that seemed to be literally littering this part of town.

"*Follow the flier.*"

A short, simple message, but unmistakably from the sender, as verbose as ever. If it had been from anyone else, he might have ignored it. But here he was. A former Heaven or Hell champion, after nearly a decade, once again standing outside the most prestigious hotel that had once had the honor of hosting the world's greatest tournament. Only now, there was no tournament. The was only...

"The hell do I know about Masquerade Balls? First contact in years, and *this* is how he does it? Shoulda known, you always did have a sick sense of humor..."

The young man muttered to himself as he meandered about, looking for an entrance.

He had taken a step back after giving her the flyer, his eyes closing briefly even as both his hands interlaced and came to rest against the back of his head. He closed his right eye, a smirk spreading across that face as she mentioned a dress.

"You act as if you don't already do at any given chance, Princess." He couldn't help but look back at her, a genuinely warm smile directed towards her. He had never been one to keep up with fashion- but the things he had seen the elven beauty pull off in the past- he was sure she was already envisioning ways to turn heads in angles that were not entirely healthy. "It's been a while since we had a date, hasn't it?" He absolutely hated dressing up, but always made an exception for her.

His right eyebrow arched slightly, as he stretched out both arms again. "...'sides, Silver should be here soon."

14Lady Sierra

She narrowed her almond shaped eyes at him, her hands coming to rest on her shapely hips as she leaned forward slightly from the waist. Her long pointed ears twitched slightly as she she stared him down. Even with his eyes closed, he would be able to feel the intensity of her golden gaze boring into him.

"You say that like it's a bad thing! But I don't recall you ever complaining--"

She smirked now as she stepped into him and leaned up to whisper against his cheek, one hand moving to rest on his chest, "Except for maybe about why they're so difficult to unlace."

She trailed her fingers down his chest as she stepped back again laughing.

"It has; It's been far too long actually! And I know you hate getting dressed up, buuuuuuuutttt~"

She wiggled her hips at him suggestively and smirking, blew him a kiss. "I promise to make it worth your while."

She was about to tease him some more, but that name snagged hold of her attention and derailed her mischief as her face lit up with a surprised grin and she started talking excitedly,

"Alexander?!! You called him here too?! How long has it been since we saw him?! I wonder how he's doing!"

15Cthulhu Wish

Izette chuckled to herself as she watched her ginger friend struggle and swear over the collection of reporters who had practically tackled Ryke with the surrounding cameras. It was true that there were far more famous people there than the ginger. But some people actually managed to recognize her. Honestly, It was probably due to the years of hanging with Ebris and other legends. They were technically legends after all, right?

“Don’t care. Let’s go.”

Grabbing onto Izzy, the punker was dragged from her comfortable sport where she was innocently smoking her cigarette peacefully. As she was being dragged behind her, the punker began to panic. She knew what she had done, and honestly she really couldn’t afford to pay whatever expenses that they were going to try to charge Ryke. And there was a small part of her that knew that Ryke was going to make her cough up an organ to help pay. In a furry, the punker knew what she had to do. As Ryke tugged her along, the long cylinder that Izzy knew and love dropped from her lips, and the punker like out an audible whine.

“My smoke! ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAANDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY” Izette whined a bit as she reached towards it. However, what made matter worse was the fact that Ryke LUGGED her through the doors. Instantly, the rivalry that the punker had with the door festered within her as they calmly made their way the doors. Once in the lobby, the punker quickly flipped the bird behind her as the two of them stormed the castle known as the Crimson Hawk.

I’ll get you later…

Those revolving doors and her had unfinished business.

As the two of them walked up to the front desk, the memories of times past came over Izzy. So many times she had gotten herself in trouble with the security by either starting a fight in the lobby or setting the bar on fire. Heck, there was even the one time that she had punched out a security guard cause they did not support swimming in the pool nude. She personally, never really understood that. But, it wasn’t often someone of her class came down to these parts. Especially seeing as it wasn’t often that someone of her type to be here…

Even though she was here about an hour go.

A few of the staff members looked at the one eyed woman funny which resulted in Izzy to only wave in response with a large cheeky grin plastered on her face. However, if the stare lasted more than 5 seconds, it was quickly followed by her faithful friend, the middle finger. A few guests scoffed in displeasure, as many of the staff members rolled their eyes. Surely seeing a Rockstar like Izzy was the least mundane thing in their day to day life. Stopping at the desk, the punker continued her classic wave as she waited for Ryke to tend to her boring business.

"Hi, I’d like to book a team suite. For the tournament. Talked to someone on the phone earlier about it.”

Despite whatever death threats the punker was thinking, her attention returned to reality as Ryke seemed to bring up something that made her grin. Team? Tournament? What was she going on about now?

“Wait. Wait. Hold up? Tournament? You mean THE tournament?” There was excitement in the punker’s voice as she almost sounded like she was mocking Ryke regarding the whole situation. However, it was quite the opposite. Unlike her partner in crime who was well aware about the events that were to come. Izette had been in a strange dream state the last hour and a half.

”I’m sorry but all suites are reserved and that floor is not being booked at this time. We are of course taking bookings for the ball and exhibitions. Are you here for that perhaps?”

This woman’s reaction to the mechanic’s request caused Izzy to become rather quizzical. It wasn’t like Ryke to be wrong, she was never wrong. She was the brains between the two of them.

“What? No. I mean Heaven or Hell? The famed annual tournament?”

“AH. SERIOUSLY?! IT IS TIME?! The punker quickly bounced up and down as she watching the woman address the unenthusiastic cat girl. She even had evidence! As Ryke quickly began to try produce the flyer to the guest services rep, the cat skimmed it over.

“Oh. I’m afraid there has been a misunderstanding,”

“LET ME SEE.” Before the cat could even finish looking at the sheet, the punker reached over the counter and pulled it towards her breast. She was far too excited as she giggled to herself and began to straighten the now crinkled sheet. Once having it visible, her eye zoomed over the words as though to drink its words. It was true. It had to be. The proof was on the sheet and it read in rather lovely words Heaven Or Hell.

What? Misundersta- I talked to someone on the phone and she said-”

“I’m afraid that there has been a misunderstanding. The only event taking place that we are accepting reservations for is the masquerade and exhibition fights. Did you want to book a room or not?”

Now the cat woman sounded annoyed as her ears twitched defensively. And unfortunately, it seemed to work on Ryke, especially seeing as the level of excitement seemed to have drifted from the ginger. Izette frowned slightly as she watched her eyes look down and then towards her.

“I mean, we’re already here. So ... I guess?”

“Now, now now. My beautiful Zandy Dee, let me have a go with this lady, hrm? I speak fluent customer service. AND cat girl.” Shoving Ryke aside from the lady a bit, the punker grinned at the cat woman as she propped herself on the counter. Thanks to her height, the punker struggled a bit, but standing on her tippy toes she managed to have it so she was resting quite comfortably. She was showing a rather cheeky smile as she made eye contact with the cat named Mitzi.

“Well? Are you booking?” She was seeming quite short now with her tone as she watched the shorter woman try and be all smug with her.

“Hi Mitsu-bitchy. I am afraid we are misunderstanding one another. I want you to give us our hotel suite. One of the nice ones for this upcoming tournament that you see here on this flyer. Cause you see, we got a team. A team so great that no one will know what to do when we come up on the roster! And if you don’t….” Calmly, the punker reached down to her belt with her free hand and pulled out her black and gold-handled switchblade. Almost instantly, the punker pressed the button and caused the knife blade to make its appearance. However, instead of being clean and beautiful as it normally was, it was stained with not only dark red blood, but black ichor like substance that the two of them had seen earlier.

“I have no problem introducing you to Sarah. She just came out to play, but I’m sure she has no problems making friends with your insides.” Izette laughed slightly as she waved the blade in the woman’s face as though to provide a proper greeting.

“Are you threatening ME in order to get a room for YOUR confusion?” Mitzi’s voice was now even louder and more annoyed than she had been earlier. Izette blinked slightly as she watched the woman squirm nervously in regards to having a knife pointed in her face.

“You betcha toots, now. Room please?”

“SECURITY!”

Almost instantly, the punker blinked as she watched armed guards come towards her ready to drag her out of the Hotel yet again. The punker, who was now laughing nervously, turned to Ryke and offered her a smile and a slight shrug.

“Welp. I’m out of ideas. What do you wanna do?”
