Fasumbra took in Kae's enraged tirade wordlessly. Unlike Akshaya, there was no mocking glint to his eye, no smirk of superiority. Rather, it was a look of interest. Not necessarily at her words, but more at observing her behavior. Already he saw that Akshaya was rather easy to satisfy with some simple flirtation and compliments, but Kae was another matter. Shallow, but intelligent enough to catch his subtle social queues. A woman filled with a mixture of self-loathing and pride, easily irritated and quick to escalate a situation in anger. Speaking of escalation, there came a slap. It was something he could easily read in her body language, but there would be no point in further humiliating the woman by blocking it. Fas took the slap smoothly, turning his head with the blow to make it little more than a sting.

Akshaya's metaphor was listened to, but Fas did not move while she did so. He was seemingly frozen in time from the impact of the slap. When the giant woman had finished, the tall half-elf turned to face her.

"Excuse me." He said, then turned to Kae's furious back, just about to be out the door, and raised a gloved finger to point at her.

"Hold a moment, Miss Kae. Come sit, and let us talk."

[x]

The room thrummed with the sound of Fas' smooth voice. If Akshaya were paying close attention, she would see a dim light from just beneath his collar when he spoke. Though it sounded like he was merely projecting his voice like a theater pro to others, to Kae it was a primal, instinctual command.

She made it a single step over the brass threshold, passing from the hardwood flooring of the contemporary restaurant back to the marble of the foyer, shapely leg in mid-stride when Fasumbra's voice ran down her spine like a bucket of ice water being dumped on her from behind. Kae froze, a sickening knot forming in the pit of her stomach and her hands clenched into fists.

The foyer withdrew, as if the distance between her next step and the surety of that polished marble was a yawning chasm spanned only by an uncertain bridge that grew rapidly more and more unsound the more she looked at it. When she took another step forward, she nearly pitched over the cliff, throwing out her hand against an imaginary wall to prevent herself from stumbling down into the abyss. Even the destination, as enticing as it was, crawled with strange beasts that loped in from the shadows of the entrance, and emerged from tilted, diagonal elevators.

The alcohol, which had been such a pleasant burn, now gnawed at her stomach, and brought forth a muffled sound of distress. She wanted nothing more than to get away from the hyena laughter behind her, but her limbs felt paralyzed. Cornered, she turned to fight, but instead, her snarl of anger melted on her lips.

"I'm sorry. That was rude of me."

What? That was the furthest thing from the truth. Kae surged forward to wrap her hands around that simpering fool's throat, but it was like moving through molasses. Mechanical footsteps, rehearsed as if on a fashion runway... and then she was seated simply in a mahogany backed chair at a table for two, legs crossed elegantly at the mid thigh, the very model of a contrite, refined lady once again.

It made her skin crawl... the way the Rose had taken her for the first time. She remembered it well... the feeling of its insidious voice crawling into her brainstem. She had never forgotten. Her lips smiled pleasantly. Her eyes screamed hatred.

Kae checked her nails and adjusted her too-short skirt, manicured hands settled in her lap expectantly.

"Let's talk, monsieur."

Their game came to an abrupt and powerful end with the gentleman flexing some creepy magic. Even Akshaya took a pause right before downing her second mug as his voice boomed after the rose-scented girl. The next scene played out like a script from a supernatural thriller. Kae returned no different than a marionette returning to the strings of its master. Akshaya watched it unfold over the rim of her mug, then she downed the second glass with a hearty swig like the last. She might have to order another four based on how these events went. Now while Akshaya refused to claim being a saint among women, she did find some trouble with the use of magic with powerful compulsions. She, too, had fell under such mysticism and had suffered the wrath of people who she had harmed. She harmed them again once she regained her full faculties. She harmed them permanently. Akshaya fell silent and stock still. She had no more words to express in the meantime. She had drinks to gulp down, but her ears remained wide open as her eyes darted from the old man to the young child and back.

What now?

Fasumbra smiled at Kae as she returned to her seat so obediently, satisfied his gambit had paid off. If the woman hadn't proved susceptible to a bit of magic, things might have gotten decisively more complicated. He dusted his clothes off nonchalantly, ignoring the rapidly reddening imprint of Kae's hand on his cheek.

'Stand down outside. No need for things to get forceful.' The mental signal, sent to unseen recipients, came back with a general affirmative. He turned his attention to Kae once again, though he left room for Akshaya to continue to be included in the conversation.

"Now, Miss Kae, I'm sure you have concern regarding the proposition I've made to you. To answer your question, I chose you specifically because an employee of mine mentioned you to me before this all began. Perhaps you remember Cel'che Yaedis? Skinny girl, bright blue eyes, rather weatherbeaten in appearance? No matter, she remembered you quite distinctly. With that understood, I sent another of my employees to test your capabilities, and you passed with flying colors. Admirable. Since you seem to be concerned about a 'catch' however, I'll clear things up for you." Fas moved closer to her, leaning close enough that she could smell his cologne. Close enough to see the myriad scars across his subtly wrinkled face. Close enough that she could almost take a bite of him, if she made the attempt, but would find herself unable.

"The only 'catch' is one you create for yourself. Understand?" Fasumbra arced his silver eyebrows at her, and gave her a smile that was much more predatory than the amicable ones he had presented her with before. That said, he stood turning his attention to Akshaya now. Kae may as well have been a doll he was playing with.

"As for you, Miss, I can extend the same offer. No catch, just money for service. You'll get paid for putting those charming muscles to good use. A free ride through the tournament, with the only requirement being everyone knows that money and power is sponsored by my business. I hope you'll forgive me for saying this, but I'm sure you're used to getting your hands a bit dirty for pay, correct? You'll be paid more than you can imagine for this work, I promise you." Fas took a few steps forward, leaning a little bit more on his cane than he was when he walked in. The distance made, he turned back to the two of them. At that moment, Kae would feel the strange compulsion weighing on her lift, returning her to her own control.

"Well, ladies, what do you say?"

5Scalar Warfare

It was a strange dichotomy, to be glaring lividly at someone while stuck in the mindless minutiae of preening herself. She didn't want to listen to what he had to say... not anymore. But she had to, anyway, with a smile on her face all the while. Fasumbra had revealed himself to her, the same way her own nature had come to the surface when Akshaya had interrupted their dance of pleasantries. And she had decided she hated him.

His voice, so smooth and eloquent before, now grated on her ears. She couldn't really look away though, her body... wanted to stay. To make him look at her the way he had pretended to look at that four armed ogre. She had seen the resentment at her only half paying attention, something that wasn't her fault, it was simply her nature. It was also her nature to seek the same attention she failed to reciprocate. So she played with her hair, adjusted her fit in her vine-woven dress, fussed with the napkin in front of her... anything to take her mind away from this.

It didn't help.

The name-drop sealed it. Horror-stricken blue eyes widened with genuine fear as the man leaned in, and the implications... the blackmail and menace in his calm voice struck home in her frontal cortex. Her blood slowed like ice, and she felt an icy grip of fear, such as she had rarely felt in her life, grasp her fiery heart like a prison. And in response, as her pretty lips parted in terror, she tried to shriek...

...and instead moaned like a wanton whore at his mere proximity. Hands clutched white-knuckled on the tablecloth, and her entire body trembled. She wanted... she wanted the money. She wanted the fame. She wanted everything he had promised her and it was so thoroughly disgusting she thought she might die of shame. Kae had no choice. She could take what she wanted, or resist and suffer some unspoken threat. The compulsion was a mere taste. She hated Fasumbra for it, but herself for being so easy to use even more.

A feeling that made her want to mount him right there in the restaurant and use him until blood ran from him. Her breath returned in gasps, then, the stranglehold of compulsion gone... and she could barely compose herself enough to reply. Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes, staring out the tinted windows of the establishment, away from this living nightmare that had come back to haunt her from a place she had considered long-forgotten.

"I-I'll do it. Just l-leave me be."

> “I only borro-!!”

A slightly sadistic laugh would come from the man in response to Jay’s cry. Followed by a smile that showed he was very pleased with himself spreading across his features when he saw the color change in her cheeks and how she bit her lip in reaction to the sudden smack she had received. It amused him endlessly that although this little woman on top of him could be even more bloodthirsty than he was, she still made faces like this, and he very much enjoyed eliciting such reactions that contrasted her outward personality.

“Oh of that I have no doubt.”

*Whether he meant to exact repayment monetarily, or otherwise, would be left open for his companion to decide for herself from his tone. Certainly not missing that look in her eyes, his smile turned a little more devious as he took her outstretched hand, before laughing at how easily she pulled his large frame onto its feet.

When she pressed her body against his, he looked down into those big brown eyes of hers staring back up at him, sighing a little as he brought his hand up to pet her gently on the head. He wasn’t really mad at her, and even if he had been, Enness found it hard to stay mad at Jay for long. She was pretty good at making things up to him.*

“Yes, I would definitely like to see this room I’m paying for.”

*Which was mostly true. He was at least a little curious about what she had picked out with his credit card.

He would not stop her from moving away, letting the woman believe for now that she had successfully changed the subject, and simply shook his head when she picked up most of the bags like they were nothing. With a laugh, he would pick up the remaining bags with notably more effort, kicking the doors closed with his booted foot, then following Jay inside the hotel. It was probably a good thing he was quite comfortable in his masculinity, so Jay actually being significantly stronger than him didn’t bother him in the least.

Once they were outside the door to their shared room on one of the higher floors that hadn’t been booked out already, Enness let Jay open the door and move inside before stepping in himself, the electronic lock kicked in almost ominously as the door closed behind him.*

“Hmm not bad. I see you didn’t skimp out.”

Nodding in approval, his eyes wandered as he gave the room a cursory look before coming to settle on Jay, the devious smile coming back to his face even stronger than it had been before while he set the bags he carried down somewhere out of the way. Waiting until Jay had unburdened her own load, his large stride carried him quickly over to her until her back was right up against his chest. Big hands settled on the little woman’s hips as he leaned down so his lips were almost pressed right against her ear, close enough that she would feel his breath when he whispered in a tone that mirrored his smile.

“I think I’ll take some of that payment now, little one.”

*Whether Jay had noticed it before or not, it would be all too obvious now he at least intended to recoup some of his loss from her other than monetarily. Besides his words making it readily apparent, the hands on her well formed hips would lift the small woman up slightly, before unceremoniously throwing her on to the bed.

Enness thought it was very nice of him that he offered payment plans. This way she could pay him back in installments, and not have to all at once. The insurance premiums were a little rough though.*

7Lady Sierra

"You're sure he said to meet him*there*?" A female voice asked, with anxiousness.

The word 'there' permeated the air between the two women with such a solemn gravity that it caused her companion to pause and look at her, studying her features with concern. The elven woman who was known for her fair complexion, seemed paler than usual. Her usually porcelain skin, drained a few shades lighter; a fine bone white. There was a tightness around the fullness of her crimson lips, and her ageless, almond shaped eyes that belied the carefully passive expression she held. Her doll-like face was framed with long silken hair that appeared an even brighter crimson in contrast to the loss of color in her face. A pit rose in Reiyvian's stomach.

'Are we rushing this?' She wondered. In spite of everything that the woman before her had overcome lately, this would be her first time returning to The Crimson Hawk after all these years. Even now it pained her to think back to the events of the past. She could only imagine, the tumult of emotions that Sierra must be feeling.

"We don't have to do this if you're not ready m'la--"

*-BUMP!-*

The vehicle hit a pot hole and bounced the two elves uncomfortably. The redhead seemed to snap out of a trance and squealed with fright, the way someone might at the sight of a spider. For while she had no fear of nature's creature's-- The modern contraptions of mankind where another thing entirely!

"I CAN'T BELIEVE I LET YOU CONVINCE ME TO GET IN THIS ACCURSED ABOMINATION!"She wailed, cursing herself for agreeing to the car ride, as much as she was cursing the blonde haired elf for proposing it.

"How can you be so CALM?!" She glowered at the other woman who seemed to possess an unnatural tranquility.

Reiyvian despite being the same age as Sierra, was much smaller; more petite and lacked the curves of a mature woman's body, a contrast to the voluptuous beauty beside her. Even her tanned skin added to the divide between their appearances. Only the points of their ears, and the slant of their eyes marked them as any kind of similar.

Yet despite the frightened hostility and chastising, there was an incredible closeness between the two friends. Despite her younger appearance, Reiyvian's voice was patient as she soothed her friend and lady; "M'lady, you know the Goddess will protect me. Protect us. There is nothing to fear from this metal ingenuity."

Sierra huffed her cheeks petulantly, something that she only did in private with those closest to her, when things weren't going her way. Reiyvian cherished such mannerisms when they presented; a reminder that this woman had as much humanity as anyone, regardless of the collected and tough exterior she presented to the world. It still felt surreal for them to even be talking like this again-- she had come to fear that she was lost forever at one point. Seeing her glaring yellow-gold eyes full of accusation and terror as the car jostled and the engine hummed loudly in their sensitive ears, seemed like a miracle from the Goddess.

The priestess pressed gently again, with her concern. "Sierra. It's okay if you don't want to do this. We would all understand. I can--"

"NO."

The word cut like a knife. There was something commanding in her tone as her entire demeanor seemed to shift, an authority that seemed to say, this is inarguable, even as something dark flashed in the golden depths of her eyes. As Reiyvian's eyes widened slightly, Sierra's tone softened and she repeated herself, a little more gently.

"No." Her hands that had been picking at the lace on her dress, reached out to clasp her friends, and gave them a little squeeze.

"I'm sorry for causing you to worry Reiyvian. Really, I'll be all right. This is something I HAVE to do."

The driver who had been doing his best not to intrude one what seemed like a serious conversation, called over his shoulder.

"We're coming into the city proper now yer'ladyships... we'll only be another ten or so minutes until we arrive at the hotel."

8Dead Myths

By the time the manipulative gentleman made his round to Akshaya, after laying on some thick words Kae hadn't a chance to deny or rebuke, the female mountain finished her third mug. She turned to the counter to set down the drained glasses while her last full mug remained in hand. This one she planned to drink slow and steady as the effects of heavy alcohol spread throughout her body. When one had the extra mass, it took a bit more work to fall under the influence.

The alcohol did start to kick in by then, and the lower sentiments normally barred by inhibition bubbled up from the depths of her more disagreeable and irritable conscious. Akshaya decided not to spring to action on such deplorable thoughts, which came to mind due to her actual attraction to the man and her revulsion of his tactics. She chose stillness, instead, as he dawdled away with some weight on his cane. He stopped and about-faced and prompted for their answers.

Kae burst out pitifully with compliance.

Akshaya grunted, keeping her words neutral. “I, Akshaya Kali, accept your proposal...”

Looked like the man got everything he wanted.

“But...” Akshaya paused to take a sip. “I'm already a representative of someone else in regards to when the publicity hits. You'll have to talk legal with my big sister. My really, really, big sister. I'll... put in a word for you.”

As much as she wanted to finished her conversation with Vahn, people were starting to file in. A roaring bike, a punker leaving a bloody mess, a four-armed statuesque stunner of a woman, and--

Two of the people watching that wolf were Vox.Flow and Bubbles, who actively turned around and watched it move up the stairs, before they turned and simultaneously tilted their head at their boss, who nodded before speaking to Ian.

"I have your card... things are getting active and interesting right now, but I'll be sure to call you soon. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to check on something... someone. But until then, It was nice talking to you. Be sure to have a great day, and enjoy yourself here."

She then took a couple steps forward so she wasn't in Ian's ear, and cupped her hands around her mouth to project her voice over the din of his own scuffle and everything else around them.

"Vahn, my name is D', a friend of Lazenca's. If you want to talk more about the tournament, speak to anyone in black and red pinstripes and they can probably get to me! Don't... uh, get hurt before the tournament even starts, if you wanted to join!"

That done, she turned 180 degrees and hurried towards the hotel's doors. As she didn't wear needle thin heels, she was very quick at it, and hopefully intercepted the wolf before he entered.

"Excuse me... hello? Do I know you from somewhere...?"

The lumbering wolf enters the establishment, and seeing eyes of those who looked back and watched him only to return back to their business soon afterwards is quite the norm for this monster. Unlike those outside, primarily humans who with their short, sheltered lives have always have a knack to take things and twist them around for their own selfish greedy gains.

The wolf looks from left to right and he does this several times, often with the sniffing of his nose. His emerald green eyes and slitted pupils hidden behind his eye lids along with his ears laid back against his head. Obviously this creature does not look like one to carry any money nor any monetary value to purchase his way into such a grand establishment, but by one way or another, he is going to try.

Lowering himself on all fours to make his tall height feasible for indoors, the sound of his heavy paws were silent save for the clicking of his rugged nails hitting the hard flooring, either it be wood, tile or linoleum. When It approaches the desk, he sat down on his haunches, and looks at the receptionist with his deep green eyes and does not say a word. When the person from behind the desk looks at the beast, they will see pretty much an oversized canine with feline like eyes and several teeth protruding from underneath the lips of his muzzle. The wolf sits patiently, breathing heavily through its nostrils at the receptionist and wonders; *"Lets see how sympathetic this person is when it comes to strays entering a Hilton Hotel..."*

It was awkward, the look the scotsman gave her. He started, then stopped, several times, looking ever so slightly harrowed each time. With a bit of intuition, she might recognize the exasperated expression born by the middleman in a running game of 'tell them I said'.

Would you just come up with something succinct you pretentious-

and the moment was lost.

He didn't let her see his relief, but gave her his own polite, non-verbal cutoff.

When everyone's attention was elsewhere, the man in black factored out of the scene seamlessly. It wasn't he so much as left as he was, quite simply, gone.

12Lady Sierra

The drive through the countryside and outer limits had been bad enough-- what ensued once they entered the city proper, felt like a torturous nightmare that would never end. 10 minutes would normally mean nothing to an ancient being, and yet-- that 10 minutes felt like 100 years to the redheaded elf as she clung to the seat and shrieked as another vehicle cut them off without signaling.

The poor driver pleaded; "Please, if'n you don't mind m'lady your shriek'n in terror and chanting 'We're going to die! We're going to die!' are very distracting. So if'n you could please try to be quiet, we're almost there."

Sierra bit off a whimper and chewed her lip as her whole body trembled. She was not going to let Reiyvian talk her into this lunacy again. Her stomach heaved as the vehicle rounded a corner. She muttered,

"Elves were never meant to ride in cars." The way she said cars, made it sound like the filthiest four letter word ever uttered. And the driver seemed inclined to agree at this point, and was already contemplating a new policy that refused to take the fair if it was an elf. Were there laws about that?

They turned another corner and Sierra thought she saw a glimpse of the hotel through some buildings, just then someone waved them down.

The car rolled to a stop and it was all she could do not to throw herself from it's confines. Reiyvian smiled at her apologetically and held up her hands as if to say 'I'm Sorry'.

The person who stopped them seemed to be slightly agitated themselves and both women leaned over the seats to see what they wanted as the driver rolled down his window.

"Sorry, but you'll have to re-rout, there is a fight taking place in the streets in front of the Hawk, and it's not safe for cars to continue ahead."

The driver grumbled, but Sierra spoke up with gratitude, this was the best thing she'd heard all day!

"The Crimson Hawk? That's where we're headed right now, it's okay we can walk the rest of the way!"

"Pedestrians are being asked to stay clear as well miss--" The man leaned down to look at her and his jaw dropped as he recognized the beautiful pale (and slightly green tinged) face and pointy ears smiling up at him.

"I beg your pardon M'am. Of course you can go ahead on foot if that's what you'd like to do."

"Yes please!" She exclaimed as she was already halfway out the car. Reiyvian sighed, and paid the driver with a tip that doubled his fare.

"Thank you kindly sir, I apologize for the ruckus."

The driver's eyes bulged at the money in his hands for a moment he forgot the pulsing in his head. He smiled awkwardly and nodded before backing the car up and turning around. It drove off with a malicious purr of the engine.

Sierra sighed and spun around with her arms stretched out to her sides with a huge smile spreading across her face. She was alive! And after that hellish ride, she wasn't going to let a building get the better of her. Her eyes were alight with vigor and determination as she took in the person who'd stopped them. Her golden eyes flicked to the security badge with a Blazestar logo.

"So who's fighting in the streets?"

The security guard smirked as he replied, "Oh just one of the usual trouble makers from back in the day, that you might know Lady; It's *Vahn* and someone else."

Both women's eyes widened and Reiyvian who had been standing back watching life and sanity to return to her companion with amusement, sighed.

"Why am I not surprised."

She cleared her throat again, having taken it upon herself to actually follow the wolf. She knew after a second of observation that this wasn't another color of Alpha Shift... the eyes never lied. Still, it was a bit rare to see beasts like this one, around this part of the world. It wasn't that it was impossible to see a were- or feral, but meeting another one was always interesting.

"Do you speak? If so, what language... or are you open to telepathy?"

The wolf would see that this purple-eyed, black-earred-and-tailed catgirl showed absolutely no worry, or fear in the face of this wolf; he wasn't the largest one she'd dealt with.

[Latent - Condemned Docks: The Beast]

A jack of hearts slid across the table. A blood-speckled four of clubs atop it. The next card, and the next, too sodden to slide over the surface to join the others. One the TV, a reporter yammered about some event, while some weirdo BDSM enthusiast and a man sparkling a different color every minute enganged in fisticuffs outside an expensive hotel.

For some reason though, the dripping from the chair next to him seemed likely to drown it out.

Dumpster-breath had been holding one pisser of a st hand. Sunken gray eyes turned to the pale faced man curled into himself on the floor beside the chair, gone stiff now, holding his guts in with one hand. ****** shame he couldn’t hold his blood in too, laying in a near kiddie pool of the stuff now, the tt. Dumpster-breath had a familiar face. Not one he could place, but familiar. He knew he knew him, but didn’t know from where, or when. Not like a corpse needed a name. Same went for Dickless, leaned backward of his chair with a gun in limp fingers like he might have fallen asleep, if not for the eyes staring wide at the ceiling and the cavern where everything below his ribcage, all the way down to his legs should have been- now, maybe he still had his dk, but nobody was checking and it seemed likely as not it was gone when you could see his twiddly little spine from of him. Pornstache looked more familiar than any of them, an expression of surprise still on his face, hand clasped around his throat, the pistol in his outstretched arm rested on top of the table, angled toward the door, spent casings around his arm. Every time he stared at them, he remembered that he remembered, but not WHAT he remembered, something old stirring, but it only made his head throb and his stomach growl, flashes of nonsense, familiar and alien, jumbles of thoughts out of order. Pain. So he didn’t like staring at them. He stared at their last friend, Billy-boy. His favorite. Billy-boy didn’t remind him of anyone.

Possibly because his head above his jaw seemed spread across the wall behind where his body lay slumped atop the broken remains of his chair, popped like juicy-lil-grape. Billy-boy was Nikolai’s favorite. Except that it was probably his juicy-grape-brains that’d left his hands so caked in blood and guts, right under his nails and in every nook, up his sleeves, that he wasn’t sure he’d ever wash it out. He’d need a new suit too.

Nikolai West leaned over in his chair to snuff his cigar on Dickless’ forehead, the four other burns on it and butts on the ground, where he flicked the remains of this one his only reference for how long he’d been here since all this s**t went down, the events of it all missing from his increasingly spotty memory. He knew he hadn’t always been like that. Until…. Until…

He couldn’t recall, but it didn’t matter. Trying to recall just made him hangry, and he was already the best, toughest ****** cruising the slums. He knew that much. The hunger was always there lately, and the more he fed it the worse it got, but the better that eating felt, like he’d been some floor-shitting little growing-baby-boy, and needed to start getting his gains started before the cycle kicked in, hungrier, better, better, hungrier. Whatever his little spark was, it had gone from nearly dead, choking on the air when he’d had his first memory of it to now. A b*h-breaking badass, like he should be. His shirt was soaked in blood, but the dark, almost black stains in his shirt where the bullet holes were barely even hurt underneath it anymore.

The lavender pinstripe suit was mottled in all manner of red, and torn up, half of his bright orange tie missing where the holes were, but deepset, beady gray eyes chased movement and trails of splatter across the room as he chewed on something. Someone, probably, He was kind of curious what, but not enough to spit it out and check when he was so damned hungry. And the eating it tickled his mind, made his body stronger, made everything right, even if the flesh was just an appetizer. It tickled the appetite, but he knew in the back of his mind it wasn’t what he’d come here for. Lucid again, he rose and dusted off his suit- smearing the thick mess on the front of it and tossing blood droplets across the table. The wide square jaw ground as he raised his head, sniffing, veins across the bald cranium turning dark black and wriggling like worms, twisting into arcane shapes and dispersing again as he followed that commanding reek, the scent of the next meal and-

Massive hands gripped the knife on his belt and pulled it out of the sheath with a wet slurp, gore-covered blade sticking a moment before it popped free. Settling down on his haunches over the late Dumpster-breath, the giant thug stared at him hard for a moment, tilting his head- as if that face might make more sense from another angle. Squinting, it only made his head hurt more for a moment- he took a swipe at the face, and sure enough, the look of the cheeky little dead ******** didn’t bother him half as much without his nose. Prying stiff arms away from the body, Nikolai pulled one hand at a time out across the floor, slamming the butt of the knife until bone crunched, then sawing his blade through until he had two hands in-hand, stuffing the stiff bundles of digits into his coat pocket, he walked over to a large shipping crate. Not that a lot came through this way- whatever this was, it was either being illegally brought on a larger shipment to be sold over, or somebody was doing a night-run into the dead old condemned docks on a smaller ship. Either way, by the time he was done snarling and hitting and ripping at the wooden box until the bits of jewelry, books, and dulled copper knife carefully packed inside were strewn across the floor, he’d worked up a nice light sweat to compliment his appetite. There were directions. Magic artifacts- that must have been why they smelled sooooooooo ****** good. Apparently, one or two were earmarked, but most were only for sale to some shitlicker big-spending in Durem. Lil-something. What a tt.

They belonged to the King now.

Pulling the hands from his pocket, Nikolai took a necklace and ring, laying them across the palm, and then placed the copper knife across the thing as well, before taking the other and carefully pushing until he had himself a handy little sandwich. Lips grinning wider, wider, too wide, he opened his mouth, bringing the mass of enchanted metal and dead flesh up to his lips.

*CRUNCH.*

In his gut, his little friend sang.

That was nearly the grossest thing Cypher had ever seen in his life. He didn't care where the sixth finger had arrived from, the sheer boneless nature of the wiggling psuedopods was gross enough to earn a spot on a rather long list of gross things. It really was all he could do not to stare in horror at the hand and hold on to his meal at the same time but somehow he managed. It almost earned the slime a thank you when it stopped but since this was swiftly followed by the sound of glass breaking the aelf simply winced and hoped it hadn't hit anyone.

What the 6 had meant he didn't know, or why he was being watched, but it was clear that the slime wanted him to be part of the team if nothing else. Communication would clearly be an issue but he was already entertaining the idea despite the oddness of it all. Everyone on Gaia knew about the tournament it seemed and despite not having taken place in years memorabilia was still in hot demand amongst collectors. He'd sold some of it himself and watched some of the old fights, finding most of them to be over the top but still a good show all around, life and death struggles minus the death part.

The chair protested only slightly as Cypher edged it back from the table then propped it up on the back legs abit, his earlier inability to balance or focus gone as his body changed internally to deal with the greater than average blood to alcohol level. Outwardly he still smiled but both mentally and internally there were some changes going on.

" Say I said yes, what would be in it for me? I'm not out for fame and glory mate, the limelight only suits me when it's on my terms."

Better to find out the fine print now rather than wait till later. There were many aspects he didn't understand to the competition after all and if the slime V was trying to form a team it would undoubtedly have to know more right? Casually, he flagged down a waiter and made a motion that was taken to mean 'another', the young humanoid strolling off to comply at his own pace. The balcony bar was empty now but for the slime and the aelf so there wasn't much need to rush.
