With a cautious gait, Rou Ji crept through the forest slowly, taking the time to be carefully observant, as evidenced by the swishing of her long raven-haired ponytail constantly swishing from side to side behind her. Emerging alone in the first stage of Heaven or Hell was not quite how she'd remembered it, abandoned to a forest that she could not recognize in the low moonlight night, and separated from her allies. While this tournament was always guaranteed to be a test of one's individual strength, the morale of any team was a fragile thing, for ones tethered so closely. With a deep breath, she swatted away concerns of Jin, James, and Sapphira, and set to the task at hand.
Navigation to avoid the orc camps had been easy enough, as night had descended they had lit their campfires, the few within the brush either feasting on freakishly huge hunks of meat straight off the bone, or were already sleeping it off. She needed but stick to the shadows, light on the leather toes of her boots, and slipped past unawares.
It took only a matter of minutes before she'd crossed near one of the main roads, a hardened dirt path compacted tight from the weighted crunch of wagons and tread of travelers. With a wary glance upward, Rou selected a tall tree, and reaching for the nearest branch, began to climb. A modest height of about 8 or 9 feet off the ground proved a useful perch-- from even that height, she could see through part of the stone walls of Latent, in the distance. She was still at least a good mile within the forest's boundary, Rou supposed, but connected to the main road might've been the most useful place to scout. Three fights, all to the happenstance of crossing the forest, were necessary to advance the round.

Lifting a gloved hand in the air, Rou motioned in the shape of a runic symbol. Adept at her magics, the tiny rune she'd drawn on the night air had begun to glow softly white, an orb the size of a snowball fit neatly in her outstretched hand. It cast a fair shine, as Rou made quick work to lose it, pitching the weightless orb to the opposite side of the road about 15 meters away, and it landed about knee-high, on top of a felled wood stump.

She waited silently, observant, from her perch between the spreading branches of the tree, surveying from above. The first test was upon her, and she was determined to make the most of it.
