The Dead Forest: [Post 3] - [Dread 4 (+3)]

When the thrown blade cut into Sapphira, the raw power of Namine's patron would surge into her mark, darkening Sapphira's psyche. (+2 Dread, +1 Uncanny) Feeding on the mental struggle, Namine's tentacles absorbed the shadows around them and nearly doubled in volume, growing two more feet and pushing against the dirt with all their might.

She felt her very being rapidly changing, consumed by her other self's obsession. To the monster without a name, fear was life. It was the sole driving force. Hunger, lust, greed, and envy were all subsets to her. But to Natalis, it was also love. Would Sapphira indulge in this madness as their minds grew closer?

Metamorphosis - Kraken's Grip Wrote:

> The tendrils shift to a tentacular state, growing much larger (6 feet in length) with power comparable to an elite human strongman, with cephalopod-like suckers for a mighty grip. However, the tentacles become much slower in their movements, making them less able to capture nimble opponents.

Reacting to Sapphira's manifestation and wind-up, Namine rolled to Sapphira's right, rising up and intercepting inside her guard, forced to her feet by the explosive force of the tentacles. With the power carried by her four "limbs" on the ground, she channeled it into a palm strike aimed at Saphirra's revealed left armpit with her right hand, as her left maneuvered above to strike above Saphhira's deltoid.

Nightmare Touch Wrote:

> Natalis making direct contact with the opponent stirs up preternatural horror in their psyche. Generates 2 Dread for contact with her hands/feet and additionally inflicts a small amount of necrotic damage to the area of contact. Generates 1 Dread for contact with tendrils, but does not inflict necrotic damage.

Hoping to turn Sapphira's 18-pound gauntlet and striking momentum against her, Namine's rotting touch threatened the tender joint as much as her attempted wrench, emanating out from both hands.

The nymph gazed at Sapphira with a doe-eyed expression and moistened her lips, "Let's take our time, kufu."

The Dead Forest

_____The Stone Queen was no stranger to fear. It was ever present in the forgotten catacombs beneath N'granek. The Shadows were darkest in that place, deep in the bowels of the earth, populated with strange entities not unlike Namine. No matter the level of dread, she was a juggernaut, unstoppable and unrelenting. Even Monsters would learn to respect Sapphira's dominance.

Krrk

_____Went the shadowed spear as it was parried by the newly formed stone gauntlet. Suddenly as Sapphira parried the strike, the tentacles beneath Namine throbbed with shadowy power and pushed her sliding body suddenly to her right closer, as if in an attempt to penetrate Sapphira's guard.

_____Good.

_____She got close.

_____She would learn soon that this was the Stone Queens World. Her shadowy opponent rose with a right palm strike, powered by the explosive force of her tentacles forcing her onto her feet, aimed at her left underarm. Simultaneously Namine's left manuevered above to strike Sapphira's left deltoid, almost some sort of pincer maneuver. Sapphira's knees bent with her rear foot sliding back in the dirt, seeking to gain a lower center of gravity as Namine came within clinch range. This movement would cause Namine's right hand to end up higher in Sapphira's armpit. Namine's hand would make contact with this area and perhaps she expected to smell the fetid aroma of dying flesh and feel the wet necrotic tissue as it died. She would feel neither. The texture of this area was rough, like hewn stone. Ultimately her touch in this area would leave a couple of shallow cracks, and Sapphira felt a slight pinch, but nothing more.

Iwaken Wrote:

> Sapphira's left arm appears to be made of animate stone, starting from the deltoid. The texture of the stone is like smooth marble stone. Tresondros whose left arm is made up of psychic crystal called this phenomenon Iwaken, or Stone Fist. The left arm is the same shape and strength as a normal left arm. It bends at the joints as a left arm would, with the stone like material bending as if through supernatural manipulation despite its hardness. She has the same level of fine motor skills and flexibility as a normal left arm. The biggest difference is, Sapphira's left arm is tremendously durable and is as tough as a similarly shaped piece of solid stone would be. This means that Iwaken can be used to block and grasp sharp weapons without fear of injury. Because of the hardness of the fist, it can be used to deliver crushing unarmed strikes. > > > > This does not mean Iwaken is invincible. Sapphira's left arm can be broken the same way a normal left arm could, through breaking it at the joints through hyperextension. The left arm cannot be used to block heavy attacks forever, eventually with enough damage the stone arm begins to crack and can be at risk of shattering. Iwaken contains vital neural networks that are essential in the function of her psychic abilities. Therefore, if the arm is destroyed, she will immediately lose 15 power points, half of her daily total!

_____Simultaneously Sapphira used her on guard right, to parry Namine's left down to her left under her left arm. In this moment, the fingers of the gauntlet wearing left hand splayed out with the wrist rotating counter clockwise in a purposeful way. With her eyes pulsing with silvery light she suddenly clinched her left hand in a tight fist. The plates of the stone gauntlet in that moment would pop off her left arm into various segments, and as if pulled by magnetic force were yanked down under sapphira's left arm. The plates of the gauntlet would snap around both Namine's hands, wrist and forearms the moment they came close together, forming a single cylindrical brace with a smooth dome like cap. This construction would lock both hands together, cuffing them together with a heavy weight of 16 pounds.

Earth-Bend Wrote:

> Earth-Bend > > > > [Standard - 3 power points or 1 Earth Charge] > > > > Sapphira may target 5 square feet of earth or rock in any natural or synthetic earth formation within 25 feet of her eyesight and manipulate that section of earth. Sapphira may translate, rotate, expand/contract, extrude, or bevel that section of earth. The section of earth may be translated or extruded at a rate of 5 feet per second to a maximum length of 50 feet, expanded or contracted to twice or half its size, or extruded to a length of 10 feet. These changes in the earth formation last for 18 seconds (3 post). Manifesting this power requires a physical motion coincide with the change. If she wants to rotate a section of earth, she might spin her arms, if she wants to extrude a section of earth she might push her arms out or clap them together. > > > > With this power, she can create walls or columns. She can create holes and elevated surfaces. She can elevate a section of stone before throwing it at an enemy. She could strike an opponent with a section of suddenly raised stone. The extrusion of the earth is enough to boost her jump, allowing her to leap high up into the air. Generally these shapes are broad, so as not being useful for skewering. Also it is easier for her to create extrusions rather than intrusions in stone. Using this power has many sensory 'tells', usually the manipulation must be accompanied by a corresponding movement from her body. Her eyes glow with a silvery light and the smell of rain about to fall fills the air.

_____With Namine close, her hands bound together, Sapphira's left stone arm would pummel around Namine's bounds arms and attempt to achieve an overhook around them. This would leave her face defenseless with Namine in a clinch. Sapphira would gladly take advantage, her right elbow swung across to smash into Namine's left eyebrow threatening to deliver a crushing blow. If she was successful, she would quip:

_____Striking the brow in this manner is a great way to cut the opponent and cause them to bleed into their own eye, making vision difficult.

Jinsoku had come a long way in his training within a mere couple of years. His more recent promotion to status of Knight was something he earned. Harsh training and experience that brought him upon things much more terrifying and powerful than this woman before him tempered his mettle, crafting him into a fine blade himself. While it was true that Jinsoku was working his breathing back under his control, it did not mean he was winded. Likewise, he was using his halberd to split the weight distribution from his injured leg, and to keep from placing too much weight on his armored leg. To think however, that he was relying on such a thing, that would be Kae's mistaken thought. On the contrary, what mobility he had left, he was biding it for moments not entirely unlike this one.

Praying on weakness, her decent from the tree had already placed her vine back into play. It was only the one now, unless the other had a means of growing back in a short amount of time. With an air of arrogance and playfulness, the Huntress lashed out at him once more, or rather, at his weapon. When the vine began to move, he was certain she was going on the offensive. While his eyes couldn't overtly keep up, his sixth sense still painted a picture of the happening, in some instances such as this one, more clear than his eyes could see. With a committed left half-step forward, his body pivoted ever so slightly right as his armored left struck in likeliness to a viper.

Gripping the vine prematurely of its intended target, Jinsoku's left foot reversed the half-step with another, his arm pulling the vine as his body pivoted back to the left. His halberd noticeably moved, slicing down at an angle with speed and precision. Thanks to the sharpness and the arcane nature of the metal of the head portion, it was safe to say that power wasn't something a strike from this thing would be desperate for. Having cut this vine would leave him gripping about four or five feet of it. His narrowed eyes glared at her still, his mount failing to speak even a single word to her in this moment. His eyes though, his eyes likely said everything. 'She'll have to get closer if she wants to beat me, unfortunately that seems to hold true from me as well. Let's see...'

Nothing about Jin was an easy target, even if he was missing a whole leg, he still wouldn't be an easy target. And as any proficient martial artist, his intimacy of pole arms that started in the beginning of his career only proved to show the disbeliever here and now how a Martial Artist used a weapon as an extension of their self.

If Jinsoku's electrolocation was indeed much like the echolocation of nocturnal bats, it was a powerful predictive tool, anticipating the movement of bodies in space along a path of reflected sound, or, in his case, moving charges. Much as bats largely feast on slow-moving moths though, this predictive motion was going to be ill-suited for catching a limb with a functionally infinite number of joints.

The Rose parasite's vines were corded braids of living wood, animated in a facsimile of sinew into a limb made entirely of functional muscle, using its own material strength to generate leverage both internal and external. Able to bend at any point along its extending length, to imagine that it would continue to move in a straight line was foolish. Kae had already seen him cut through her other vine, now stunted, when she let her attention lapse from it. Whether he opted to try and dodge or capture her third appendage, she had fully been expecting it this time around.

With an undulating curve, the end of the vine snapped neatly under his grabbing hand like a cracking whip, skimming just under the wrist, before abruptly curling back around and binding tightly there, jerking back as it did so to pull him further off balance on his already lead foot... a pull that she advanced into with confidence. With a premeditated loping stride, she bounded the roots that sprawled the ground between them, her gauntlet plates sliding out spiky reinforcements to her knuckles.

When he stumbled forward, there she would be to meet him with a fraternal grasp of her own left along the inside of the forearm. Pivoting left along her right heel, the polished hardwood gauntlet armoring her right hand swept in on a right cross to his face or jaw, using the man's own arm as a bar against him attempting to strike with the choked grip of his halberd... and of course, as a serious control of his weight distribution. The martial artist was stronger than her, but not for much longer at all.

"Mais non, cheri..." the psion hunter chided him, and the parasite finished closing around her head, masking her pretty face behind an opaque shield, just as armored as the rest of her body.

Feeling Sapphira's stony defense crack even slightly, Namine's enchanting face beamed with a sense of satisfaction, forcing more of her presence into her fellow psyker's mind. The shadows around her started to coalesce, reacting to her growing aura.

Namine let the stone queen move her two arms, wagering that she had four other free limbs to work with, and accepted the Sapphic gift. It was cuffing season, after all. She would bring her fingertips together in an offering of prayer, letting the brace lock them into that position, so close to Sapphira's heart.

A prayer to the god of love. Twisted love.

The shadows weaved around tightly Sapphira's early gift and Namine's arms, transforming it into a surprisingly sharp blade. Simulatenously, a spiked barbute materialized around Namine's face, as she stepped forward slightly with her left through Sapphira's guard aiming to impale her gut with her rotten affection, covering that intimate distance almost instantaneously. Pushing off the ground and aiding in her sudden lunge, her tentacles would flailed forward in an arc, grasping around Sapphira's neck from both sides.

"No hands~," Namine cooed.

The Dead Forest

_____Shadows contorted about her opponent with unsettling speed, forming a blade on top of the brace that bound both her arms. Namine lunged forward, thinking that she would skewer the stone queen with this newly formed weapon through the gut. She might have met her mark, were Namine's arms ever in a position to do so. In the previous moment, Sapphira parried the opponents left hand down to her left, beneath her own to meet Namine's right. So when the Stone Queen claimed the Overhook with her stony left arm and rotated her body counter clockwise to fuel the force of the right elbow, the huge spike would pass mostly harmlessly to the left of Sapphira's abdomen, with the left arm guiding the thrust of both Namine's arms. The only damage was done to Sapphira's white shirt that tore along the edge of the black blade as it was suddenly thrust forth.

____There was no way though that Sapphira could have predicted the spike barbute that, mid swing, suddenly covered her opponents face. One of the spikes, smashed into the flesh of Sapphira's forearm, causing silvery blood to spurt out all over Namine's face. The viscous molasses like liquid threatened to blind her through the opening in her shadowed helmet. The taste of it would be earthy and its texture more dense and heavy that blood ought to be. Sapphira gasped in shock at the sudden development and the sharp pain that now came from her right arm. Though the really strange thing that Namine would notice, is that the blow of the elbow would still hit almost as hard! crnk! the sound of crumping shadow would resonate through the dark forest. Her opponent’s skull would be rung like a bell and shake within the helmet. Sapphira's skin was unusually tough, with an almost leather like texture and her bones were twice as hard as a normal persons.

Earthborn Wrote:

> When it comes to injury her skin is possessed of a leather like toughness and her bones can tolerate almost twice the strain of an average human before breaking. She has an incredible tolerance for pain and injury that makes her a terrible opponent to contend with.

____Hoping to take advantage of the elbow strikes stunning impact and the forward momentum of Namine due to her own lunge, Sapphira acted with a classic Ecstuffuan family technique. Suddenly Sapphira bent her knees deep, while leaning forward. This would cause the tentacles to miss overhead with a resounding whoosh and then a clap as they smacked together, missing her neck. Simultaneously she shifted her left overhook around the arms to an overhook around Namine's right trapezius, around the right side of her neck. At the same time Sapphira's bloodied right arm would dropped to reach behind Namine's left thigh and clutch high into her crotch. Namine, by stepping forward with her left almost fed Sapphira her left leg, and the Stone Queen would oblige! This new position would leave Namine's locked arms to Sapphira's left side, with Namine's left tricep pressed against the left side of Sapphira's torso, highly immobile.

Ecstuffuan Family Special: EXPLODER SUPLEX

____In the next moment, Namine would find herself thrown, Up, over and through the air 15 feet to crash through an Orc's wooden Hut! Sapphira was able to gain such distance, not only because of her strength and technique but also because of the opponents own momentum being used against her. Sapphira threw Namine explosively (No pun intended), seeking to not leave her any time to respond with her dastardly tentacles and hopefully to build space so that she could reassess. The dark thoughts coming to mind were not new, but were unsettling none the less in their odd prominence in this moment.

Throw Anything Wrote:

> Chucking stones and other items at opponents provides Sapphira with a long range tactical options. Despite her reckless way of fighting, she can generally hit a target within 10 or 15 feet with a thrown object up to her lifting capacity. Usually these objects are massive stones, so supreme precision is often unnecessary.

_____If Sapphira was successful, she would rise from the ground, facing her opponent and would say;

_____It seemed her opponent scored both first and second blood. Sapphira was going to have to step her game up. She would remain crouched slightly with her hands in the dirt. She would begin pulling the surrounding earthen minerals into her own body. Her skin began to morph, becoming more rock like in appearance. Her relaxed mohawk styled hair would harden as well, becoming not unlike well rendered hair in a classical sculpture, prestine yet unmoving.

He was fast, to be expected of a flyer. The whip had lashed forward, gripping tightly around the haft of his spear-- the target Ferris had substituted for his arm with an evasion. He pivoted around it, and while he was right in that Rou could dismantle her weapon, she didn't, a firm hold on it, even as he plucked it from the ground and launched himself at her.

Rou expected the spear, for the way he led in with it, and moved [to her] left in a sidestep, stance wide from the stretch, as he swooped like a hawk above the river teeming with salmon. Ferris was graceful, in that way-- quick, too, but so was she, especially with so little movement. But it was a feint, and he'd planned for it.

She caught the sight of his leg almost too late, part of his fluid motion in the rotation that influenced the force of his attack, an armor-plated shin bound for her shoulder. She'd already been caught off-guard once this fight (as evidence by her not-so-nimble exit of the tree), which already had her on high-alert, heart beating and attention focused. Rou would not be taken so again.

"Nnngh!" Rou snarled painfully, wincing with a ferocious grit of her teeth. His shin collided with her right shoulder, hard, the force definitely foreseeing more than a nasty bruise, in time. He connected, as was his plan; Ferris would've felt the impact he caused, even if he couldn't see it, for the way her alight whip still coiled around his weapon placed a light between his eyes and his target. And with the path of his flight, he likely would've continued up and away, to prepare another assault, but he'd feel himself brought to a startling halt, the light of her whip dimming, its length withering to ash-- and the sight of Rou's arms bear-hugged around his leg, right in the pit of her shoulder where he'd struck.

His force had even pushed her back slightly, but she braced against it, leaning into his shin. Rou's balance had been set from the earlier side-step, her knees bent and low, catching the kick that meant to sweep upward. Digging the balls of her feet in the dirt, she gritted her teeth, and pushed against the floor, pivoting to her left, further solidifying him in her grip to prevent escape.

"RRRAGH!" she grunted, voice to summon the force needed to pull him as he levitated above her right shoulder, to slam herself onto the ground, on her stomach. It would drag Ferris both backwards and down, an improvised body-slam down from the impressive height his flying powers afforded him. The flex of his foot was caught beneath her pit, locked by the grip of her arms-- Ferris was coming down with her, if he didn't want his own knee to bend backwards. This flier was going to meet the ground, and Rou was going to clip his proverbial wings. Turns out Rou could give whiplash to more than her own weapons.

In vicious holiday spirit, Santa Rou made Ferris into the impromptu bag of toys slung on her back, and THREW THEM DOWN ON THE GROUND WITH A BODY SLAM. MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYBODY. HO HO HOOOOO.

The Dead Forest: [Post 5] - [Dread 8 (+1)]

Namine made a miscalculation, her judgment overwhelmed by the embrace of her patron, and soon found her head smashed in. Dazed by the blow and briefly blinded, she found herself suddenly airborne, her tentacles reflexively flailing against the ground and diverting the throw into an uncontrolled roll. Her tentacles bled and tore across the terrain as they absorbed most of the force, crashing on her back into the wall of the Orcish hut. Pushing herself to her feet with all her limbs, she rose and dissolved her shadowy blade and helmet, as glistening masses of moonlit ooze lurched to the tips of her tentacles. [Knightmare dissolved and moved, inactive.]

She still kept smiling at Sapphira, their silvery blood mixing together on Namine's childish face. She walked briskly towards her playmate, both of her arms kept low resting near her hips, her left tentacle stretching out over her left shoulder, while her right snaked across the ground. Glops of inky blood continuously dripped from the ruptured tentacles, and she still appeared utterly enchanting despite her torn and bloodied form.

"It's not like I want to fight you or anything, b..," Namine shuddered.

Narcissa Nahara Wrote:

Ferris was rather proud of himself for swift moves. Everything had landed just as he had hoped and set up. It wasn't as if he had put a lot of actual thought into the move, rather feeling how it should go, what to do, where to aim. It was because of this more animal like reaction and instinct that he didn't notice at first when he tried to fly back to reset that his foot was caught on something. What?

He looked down to see an almost wicked if intense grin on his opponents face, and her arms wrapped around his armored shin. She had taken the kick square and was now responding. A bead of sweat immediately fell from Ferris face. Before he could even properly start resisting she was already starting to twist, rotating her body in such a way that he immediately began to feel the strain on his knee. He couldn't fight it. His raw fighting experience was low, and his pain threshold matched it.

So he let her rotate, and he rotated with her. She did indeed keep him from flying away as was her intention, but he was not going down so easy. While she indeed kept him held with her impressive bear hold of his leg, he had to doubt it was such a powerful and steel like hold that he couldn't have a little bit of wiggle room. So as they twisted he aggravated the move, or extended it perhaps. Ferris would rotate around Rou faster than she turned, to come out ahead of it. She would still have Ferris leg, and Ferris would still be horizontal, but by the time Rou had finished turning around Ferris would still be off to her left and holding himself in the air, so as Rou aimed to fall she would feel as if someone else was holding Ferris in the air preventing him from being dragged to the ground.

In a way this was true, except the other person was just Ferris using his powers to hold himself there. He could carry anything during his flight he would be able to without flying, and sense Rou was just letting gravity take her for a ride, Ferris could manage that. Hopefully awkwardly pinned in the air, Ferris didn't have anything else except to stomp on her side with his free leg. Aiming a quick, armored heel strike for her exposed ribs.

_____She spoke as she rose to stand and continued to pull the Earth into her being through her feet. At first, her body seemed to be made of smooth stone but as she continued to draw upon the earth she began to take on a more monstrous countenance. Her silhouette began to bulge as mountainous rock layered on her chest and her limbs. The pleasant roundness of her face gave way to angular an jagged shape, a hateful mask of stone. She now stood maybe a foot taller, less a woman and more a golem. Her voice was now noticeably deeper as she spat grumbled words at Namine.

Sapphira stepped forward with her left foot, Her center of gravity dropped as her knees bent and like a stone ball on a chain her left arm snapped out in a jab towards Namine's chin. Due to the lumbering weight of Sapphira's transformation, the jab would be less of a quick snap and more of a heavy blow from a swinging boulder; threatening to smash against the face of her opponent.

**"!"

H**is eyes grew wide once more as the appendage suddenly snapped, shifting unexpectedly at a rate that didn't quit escape his sixth sense. However, it left him with a chance to react to what was undoubtedly a trap. She baited him, and like a fool he took it. Her thick, braided vine grasped his wrist, yanking him forward once it's grasp was secured. Meeting him along the way, She launched a vicious cross for his face, fortunately his armored half was what was yanked towards her first. The sound of wood on metal resounded with a hearth thunk followed by a scraping noise. Without denting it, Kae scuffed and scratched the mask of his bronze man armor, knocking the half mask from his face. As his head turned away from the blow, Jinsoku let go of his halberd.

An invisible energy built up within his right, unarmored fist, ultimately expanding beyond the parameters of said fist. A silent hum exhumed it, though Kae may hardly notice it or naturally react to it thanks to her resistance to the electrical nature of his powers. Repeating the use of one of his prior abilities used, Jinsoku used the opponents proximity to his advantage. Electrical Yoki pushed through his entire muscular system, though not even a drop left the inside of it. His armored hand suddenly clapped down and gripped Kae's forearm, reflecting her own choice in the matter. By the time she realized this however, it was presumably already too late. Just as earlier, Greased Lightning granted Jinsoku a sudden burst speed that doubled his natural limits. In the time it would have taken to simply grab her arm was all it took for his right fist to close and execute fierce uppercut to Kae's approximate stomach.

Long before he began his training with Master James, Jinsoku grew up in a rough, poor childhood. He grew up bullied for being a half-breed, his father being American, and his mother Okinawan. In the hype of his teenage years, he took a keen liking to underground circuits, brawling, and pit fighting. He once dreamed as was moving his way up the ranks to become a respectable Prize Fighter, a Champion. Through all this experience, if there was one thing he learned more intimately than most, it was how to take a beating. Kae's hit wasn't weak necessarily, but even without his armor as a buffer from the strike he could have endured that blow just fine, regardless of the physical damage dealt. It would take more than a punch wooden mace to the face to defeat a Knight of the Order of Force Majeure!

If Jinsoku's uppercut landed, Kae would experience the upward concussive force that exploded from the fist upon connection, courtesy of that invisible energy that had gathered upon his hand. 2500 pound of force generated behind the blow easily found itself capable of multiple ways to incapacitate, and if it failed to, it would almost certainly uproot the target and knock them skyward. Either way, Jinsoku was hoping to even the playing field in terms of damage sustained if not give more than he had received thus far. He watched intently to see if her thorns would sprout again even as she was ultimately knocked away up and away from him.

***"Sandakurasshu!!!"*

H**e exclaimed through the strike! Meanwhile lurking in the shadows among the trees lie Orc and their lesser cousins, goblins. Between the loud noises and the smoke thickly accenting the forestry, it was safe to say their forest had been disturbed this evening. As they gazed upon the what looked like humans fighting, they remained lurking, watching, waiting. Let the humans beat each other tirelessly, and take advantage of the exhausted victor. From the looks of it, things were getting desperate. The end of this bout was nigh, but which one would win? The short brawny guy, or the wooden figure that no doubt contained one helluva sexy woman. While he hadn't the time to truly ponder it, even Jinsoku wondered if the flames were a result of Rou, or even Master James himself.

The living wood that now covered the entirety of Kae's body in protective plating certainly did boast a fair resistance to the flow of electrical currents... but that did not mean it did not notice its presence. The Rose parasite existed to feed on all manner of supernatural energies, seeking to consume their users and turn their powers into new and terrifying mutations. Jinsoku's self-empowerment came at a cost - he was feeding his power directly into the parasite itself, and thereby, its shapely host.

With her strength doubled with sympathetic plant-sinew and reactions swiftened by direct neural interface with the Rose, Kae saw, gripped, and moved as never before. Her vision, tinged green with the infrared filter of nightvision, stared through the featureless mask sealing away her face, for once actually able to comprehend the martial artist's movements in real time.

She wasn't quite fast enough to avoid the retaliatory strike, but she was fast enough to realize an opening when she saw one. But first she had to walk head-first into a brick wall.

At least, that was what it felt like. Though the impact centered on the outward curve of her bossed ab plating, the wood comprising it was an elastic material, deforming and springing back by virtue of its long cellulose grain compressing in on itself, directing a near equal force right back into the man's fist. That part was merely physics. The real genius of the armor however lay in its gel-like underlayer, that acted partly as liquid and partly as solid, dispersing the tremendous pressure of the uppercut from something that would have collapsed her lungs and caved her chest, to a more uniform, body wide impact... as if she had landed belly-first into a pool from an Olympic diving board. Unable to maintain coherence as the internal fluid pressure overcame the cell walls of her underlayer, a loud ripping sound rent the air as the shockwave of the impact traveled around the curves of her body to the back, and the two wakes met explosively.

A gory spray of greenish goo, as well as several splinters of annhilated rosewood erupted from the symbiote's back, basting the trunk of the great oak towering over the fighters in sappy fluid, a sight that if it had been witnessed in the garish lights of a sand pit arena instead of in the middle of some god-forsaken forest, would have made the crowds go mad with excitement.

The Helvetian shook her head, shaking off the shock with a toss of her long, violet ponytail, and realized she was still holding the b*****d's forearm deathly tight. Her elegant heels had furrowed into the leafy duff, but she was still standing... and her parasite crackled with energy. The halberd had been discarded. She was the only anchor holding the easterner up. It was time to change that.

"Hu-wah!" Scattering leaves and twigs, her right leg swung in low, driving the stilleto point of her platform into the back of Jin's knee joint. Armor or no, that sort of precision would fold it... removing any possibility of recovery as she torqued her torso rightward, using the half-breed's left arm as a lever, and her right arm as fulcrum to hurl him to the forest floor.

Her impassive face shield loomed over him, casting a horrible shadow in the moonlight, as his celerity sprouted not two, but four lashes from her torso, each sporting a hardened, armor-penetrating spike. Without preamble, they descended upon him in a frenzied mass of wild strikes, pummeling torso, pelvis, arms and legs alike, tenderizing the man as if he were a prime cut of steak. They did not care if where they struck was armor or not, they hit like a pneumatic steel punch, each having the full augmented strength of their host in their insensate rage.

Post Damage Summary/Reasoning

Kae's reaction speed is boosted by Antithesis enough to understand Jin's attack. Her armor's properties allow her to sustain serious damage to the armor from over-pressure and stay standing instead of having her chest collapse from being hit by a car and sent flying. It definitely cannot sustain another hit like that without repair, and her entire front feels like she smacked into the pavement, but without the concussion. Her strength is boosted enough to at least equal Jin in intensity, allowing for the followup maneuver to be difficult to resist.

The Dead Forest: [Post 6] - [Dread 9(+1)]

Namine wasn't too surprised by Sapphira's transformation; their similarities only began at being Snow White. She'd have to be more precise with her movements against a lumbering golem, but she trusted in her agility.

"Indulge me, then!" Namine roared as her inner darkness overcame her, as the surrounding shadows grew over her entire body, locking her beauty away with their growing maleficence. Following Sapphira's lead, her arms rose up in a guard, resting below the right side of her face.

Haunter in the Dark Wrote:

> Namine’s body becomes fully attuned to the dark, masking her psychic and heat signature when under the cover of shadow. Uncanny Beauty no longer requires direct visual contact, and nearby shadows grow wicked, granting 1 Dread if her prey ends their turn in darkness.

Ready for Sapphira's strike, her arms moved to the left to parry the jab, using the stone brace to her advantage, into the grasp of her upper-left tentacle, her head shifting to her right. Then, the tentacle would snake up the stony limb and try to control it with its bloodied, slimy suckers. Simultaneously, Namine aimed a powerful low-kick from her right leg at Sapphira's already-injured left thigh, leveraging both force and rot against her target. Her right tentacle slid along the ground as she turned counter-clockwise, preparing for a follow-through.

At the end of this movement, the shadows at the end of her tentacles solidified into spooky steel mittens.

Rou longed for the satisfying sting of gravity, the pain that came with knowing that she gave as good as she got. But with the heavy downward swing, it missed it's ending, like a song ceased before its final stanza.

Swing! And a miss; Rou felt like a batter in the cage, seeing the pivot through and continued as she was swept up along with it. She hung on as he vaulted around her, unwieldy for his weightlessness, as she felt all the strength mounted for the throw sapped from her arms. Keeping the tethered bearhug made her heels minimally slide in the dirt as he flew, like a child that refused to sit still. For the Buxom Bandit, alarm was dwarfed by sheer frustration.

She was getting too old for this s**t.

Attached to one of his major limbs, Rou could feel movement again, the pivot of his hips as he raised a knee, the sole of his boot catching her eye. He was going to try to shake her, by any means necessary. By the intimate nature of their position, Rou knew she wasn't going to be able to dodge, and it was going to hurt.

But if she couldn't dodge, neither would he.

As the boot came to pound at her ribs like a metal-plated battering ram, Rou's left hand thrust forward in self-defense, with the right arm curled around his shin. Her palm glowed a bright red, forearm parallel with Ferris' thigh, before she pushed a fireball from her outstretched palm, point-blank into his abdomen.

Connection with the fireball would feel as painful as a mildly superpowered punch [faith in fairness entrusted to opponent for ease of portrayal]. The fire can both smolder/burn through soft clothing, as well as cause up to 2nd degree burns, which are both painful and can leave blisters.

Those chestnuts on the open fire were probably going to get awfully toasty.

The trade of hits would come with a price, as Ferris' boot hit her with a crude crunch. Rou winced as her body recoiled from the hit, her right arm slipping from the length of his shin; gravity was not nearly as forgiving to the Buxom Bandit as it appeared to be to Ferris. The weight of his ironed heel stung, as Rou fell back into the dirt on her side, the momentum carrying her into a dusty roll.

Breathing ached, as Rou inhaled a mouthful of dirt, followed by an even more painful cough. She'd need a good moment to pull herself off the ground-- as she wagered her opponent would need, too. Drawing only to her knees, her fingers clenched miniature trenches in the dirt of the road; she panted, her left side hitching painfully.

Slowly, Rou slid her left leg up, ball of her feet nestled in the dirt, not able to pull herself all the way up just yet, evidence of her pain in her hesitation and the wincing grit of her teeth. She watched to gauge him, stretching out the time as long as she could, to recover her strength to prepare for the next assault. He had to touch the ground at some point.

TURN 5

Synopsis:

15Trapdoor Spider

Narcissa Nahara Wrote:

There was a brief moment in the struggle when a sort of gleeful excitement came over Ferris. A memory to a bygone era when youthful boyhood tumbles and roughhousing was a common occurrence. True harm then was never meant, not like a real fight. These were scraps between friends, school yard mates. Occasionally someone might accidentally land a mean hook, or a nail would draw blood, or a particularly over zealous friend might try to grapple you improperly and break your arm. Yes, those were the dream days. It was in this brief moment as Ferris foot came down that he felt this, the thrill of the skirmish. It was only when he saw his opponents raw concentration and light begin to form in her hands that he no longer thought of childhood friends.

He thought of war, and the destruction it brings. A grim specter staring him in the face, looking to do true harm. And it wrought it upon his soul. He barely had time to register the burning light, let alone react to it. It slammed into him with surprising force. In retrospect he would examine the fight and think on this matter, thinking it would have exploded and caused more fire damage rather than force. But in that moment, the heat of the battle, he didn't really think of that. He was simply and suddenly launched a distance away, his body bending at the point of impact as it moved before the rest of his body.

The sudden flash and force of the attack caused his concentration to waver, and rather than try to correct his tumbling body and accidentally accelerate into the ground he let it drop, and subsequently drop him. He hit the ground and bounced, rolling and turning lightly as he did. He settled on his back, still for a moment as his body tried to find itself. His side smoldered, his padded jacket having been partially destroyed around the connection point. The densely woven fabric had absorbed some of the blow and luckily all of the fire. But that hit. It was strong. Suddenly he gasped, air filling his lungs. Then pain, as the expansion moved his stomach, causing sharp pain.

A hand went to his stomach as his body shook in pain. He stared back towards his opponent from wear he laid. She was further up then him, but not by much. He spared a glance for his stomach. It felt warm but unburned, though he wasn't sure if being burned would have been worse than that hit. He winced imagining how purple he was going to be later. He let out a ragged breath and looked back to Rou. He remained on the ground, but managed to find he had somehow held onto his spear. He commanded it to shrink with a thought and it shortened to fit into his palm, as if a dagger. He stayed there, unable to even throw out a clever quip for the moment. It was a good hit though.
