The Dark Forest

_____A resounding crash echoed through the dark forest as Sapphira's boulder like fist, slammed into the brace that locked Namine's arms together. Shards of stone would fly and the brace itself would be left cracked and crumbling. Following the parry, the shadow creatures left tentacle snaked menacingly up the jagged surface of the Stone Queens left arm. The left arm recovered quickly and as it did so, Sapphira's eyes illuminated with white light. Sharp stone spikes erupted from the left arm as it pulled back on guard, tearing itself free from the already torn tentacle. The twist of the fist as it returned to guard would shred the tentacle, leaving her left arm free on guard. [Stone Shape]

_____At the same time, Sapphira performed a Muay thai leg check with her left leg. She lifted the left leg by the knee, leaving the limb bent with a 90 degree angle. She pointed her sharp stone covered shin out to her left at a 45 degree angle to catch the shin of namine's kicking right leg. The hardness of the shin bone and the jagged stone that covered it would serve as a painful target for her opponent. It would be like striking a sharp stone with a bone club, with the bone threatening to shatter on the impact.

_____Sapphira could feel the right tentacle as it slid against the ground as intimately as if it were sliding against her own skin. See the inky blackness against the sparsely torchlit ground, harden into mit like shapes at the end of her many tentacles. Yet Namine was not the only one who prepared. Earth Minerals continued to pump up through the soles of Sapphira's bare feet into her body. With each passing moment Sapphira grew a bit larger and a bit more monstrous. Whatever clash was coming between these two beautiful monsters would be an epic one indeed...

Once Namine's sticky and monstrously strong black member embraced Sapphira, she broke through her threshold, as her nightmarish aura surged out to cover her entire form. Small shadowy spines shot out of her body, posing a hedgehog's dilemma to the couple.

Azathoth’s Presence Wrote:

> Namine grows spines of coalesced Eldritch energy and applies Nightmare Touch as an aura wrapped tightly around her entire body, including tendrils.

With the tentacle's embrace confirmed, Namine didn't let go when spikes impaled her already dripping tendril. No, she would pull her crush closer, not letting the arm escape so easily. When the spikes pierced through the tentacle, they just locked it tighter, aiding the both the suckers and ... Namine's own spikes, in joining them as one mass. Their struggle would be shared; Sapphira's attempts to rotate her limb would ultimately end up moving the tentacle with it, rending her unable to slice through it in that matter.

Having already launched her kick when Sapphira lifted her leg bearing her weight, Namine was shocked by Sapphira's flagrant desire to eat s**t. She didn't think that they were both into it. Somehow, Sapphira was able to lift her leg in time, but the check wouldn't exactly go as planned. Namine would indeed strike her her upper shin against the Sapphira's lower shin, but with Sapphira's poor leverage, the impact only caused minor stress fractures. With Sapphira's center of gravity so low and off-balance and Namine's balance with two limbs of her three lower limbs still on the ground, the force would not be redirected into Namine's shinbones, but into sending the golem to eat dirt it so craved!

f Sapphira didn't manage to fall over by herself, Namine would help out! Reacting quickly to the impact, Namine's now free hands caught Sapphira's exposed left thigh, her right ripping deep into the crotch as the left reached over the top, lifting upwards and inwards. Simultaneously, her right leg stepped down and she used the momentum built by her hips already in motion to circle inwards with her left. With her floor tentacle digging into the earth, she tripped Sapphira's foot off the ground, with Namine's upward and counter clockwise momentum following through sending Sapphira twisting downward easily as all her weight hung imbalanced on her airborne, overextended left side.

Without mercy, Namine channeled a Shadow Spear in grasp of both hands, and aimed to run it through Sapphira's right kneecap when she made contact with the ground. Sapphira would find it difficult to charge up in this position.

Though his powerful strike landed true, things were not looking good for the Knight. The Huntress kicked his knee in from behind. With ease, it gave into her influence before she torqued her body rightward and cast him to the forest floor. As this happened, Jinsoku executed another one of his abilities with a lucrative application. Magnetic Manipulation. Gripping his halberd with his mind in a manner akin to telekinesis, the weapon seemingly came to life and carried a sentience of it's own! Flipping to aim the long, top spike of the halberd at Kae's exposed back before hurtling towards it!

His hopes were that the spike would pierce her through the back and potetially just exist the chest after piercing one of her lungs. An assault that would not instantly prove fatal, but may convince his opponent that they were finished with this bout. Fully aware that the tournament rules stated that killing was illegal, his intent was merely to stop the opponents ability to continue if he couldn't outright defeat them. Though a victory for him spelled defeat for the opponent anyway did it not?

If Kae managed to spawn her four fresh limbs regardless of the halberd's strike, then Jinsoku had no choice but to spare himself her savagery. Should a single strike impale him, his response resulted in perhaps his strongest defensive technique. An EMP. A force similar to the one his fist produced, albeit less concentrated while covering more range expanded from his core in an explosive wave of concussive force. The wooden limbs would be knocked back and potentially damaged just before the rest of Kae would feel the rest of the force impact her entirety, threatening to knock her back and carry her for no more than a 25 foot wave before allowing her to crash haphazardly into the ground or a surrounding tree.

The Dark Forest

Black spines erupted from her opponent, like some fell porcupine that realized it was in danger. They would crush against the mountainous rock that was the stone queens flesh. Namines left most tentacle became ensnared with Sapphiras left arm, rather than tearing with texture that was more inky than fleshy. No matter. It would encounter fierce resistance all the same, the Stone Queens mighty thews worked with noticeably augmented strength.

It seemed that Sapphiras lack of balance and leverage was grossly overestimated. Checking the leg kick had not set her off balance. Bending the right leg to drop her center of gravity allowed her to comfortably absorb the weight of the blow. What’s more, Sapphira now stood at more than double her original weight, hidden nearly completely under plates of rapidly morphing rough stone. So for this reason she would remain standing against the force of the kick.

Seeing that Sapphira remained on her feet, Namine reacted quickly. Her arms would reach to wrap around her left thigh. In this moment, Sapphiras left foot would return to the ground. Namine would find her hold tenuous due to the width and tremendous weight of her body. The black spines and spikes would scrape the hard surface of her stone body.

Namine would attempt to utilize the momentum of her right leg kick with her grasp around Sapphiras left thigh to throw her to the ground with a counter clockwise turn. One of the tentacles that stayed upon the ground would attempt to sweep Sapphiras right foot and help to send her tumbling to the ground...

Yet nothing at all would occur. Sapphira did not budge an inch. In that moment she was like a tree routed to the earth. Namine would feel

a singular ridiculousness in that moment, perhaps visualizing her hugging a mountain, expecting to topple it. Silvery light dripped from Sapphiras eyes as she chuckled with a gravely broken tone.

“Seismic Core” Wrote:

However, this technique if misused can actually increase the amount of damage Sapphira takes from an attack by preventing Sapphira from rolling with the blow. > > > > To use this technique Sapphira quickly assumes a stance with a low center of gravity. After using this technique and until she changes her position she becomes nearly immovable like the mountain she visualizes preventing her from being knocked to the ground. Despite making herself immovable she does not prevent herself from being damaged in any way. > > > > This power also adds the effect of supporting Sapphira's balance and by doing so can increase her leverage during standing grapples. It can make her hard to lift while improving her own ability to lift and throw particularly with the use of Greco-Roman style suplex's. Sapphira's grappling strength and leverage are heavily augmented by this power.

As her left foot returned to the floor, her left arm pulled down against the tentacle to the left testing its strength using her now superior leverage. This placed her thick left forearm in front of Namines chest. This wide spiky Limb would block Namines left arm, which had been reaching down to try and wrap around Namines left thigh, from moving up.

Then Sapphiras massive stone right fist swung out in a huge and heavy right hook aimed to smash into the entirety of the of shadowy psychics head.

"Love trouble." Sapphira didn't play nice. Sapphira made her come out.

The Dead Forest: [Post 8][Dread 15 (+3)]

Meeting Sapphira's fierce resistance, Namine's mind was pushed into the abyss against the psychic feedback. She fell and fell, and all she saw was darkness as stared out of an endless pit.

My turn. What were you thinking?

Were those spikes always gnashing teeth in fractal maws? Was Namine always this overwhelming mass of gnarled, fleshy ooze? Was she always ... this STRONG?

Natalis stood up in Namine's place with the force of three powerful limbs (her left on the inside of Sapphira's left, her right on the outside) on the ground, her left hand aborted the throw once Sapphira wasted more of her energy on staying in a bad place. Her left tentacle pulled up with Natalis's rising motion, and so did her now monstrously strong oozing left arm. Subjected to decay from both limbs in contact, Sapphira's arm was on a short timeline.

With Namine's circling around complete, Sapphira wouldn't hit Natalis without punching through her own left arm.

Did she always have four tentacles? A newly placed blade tendril had appeared on Natalis's right shoulder. Then, Natalis's right hand would force its way into the open wound on Sapphira's leg. If it could, it would take a few bites, too, eating it from the inside out. The decaying flesh smelled so sublime.

With Sapphira's movement fully committed by her gravity manipulation, Natalis's right blade tentacle would puncture Sapphira's left abdomen from behind her back through all but her most vital organs, exposing her to dangerous rot. Squishy meat and all that inertia made the thin rocky shell so much easier to pierce.

But wait, there's more? Natalis's other blade tendril had grown from her left arm's elbow, and suddenly would run through Sapphira's overexposed left armpit, again. But this time, it would aim to run all the way through that narrow fleshy path between the stony deltoid and the other fleshy muscles.

...The final tentacle that was pushing against the ground lifted off the ground in huge arc, aiming directly for Sapphira's face with its spooky mitten. That was Natalis's real punishment.

The Helvetian's stare, backlit in grainy green shadows, was difficult to pin down behind the featureless faceplate, lending one a sense that they couldn't be certain what she was looking at. Her demeanor was not that of a seductress, but some horror from beyond, eager to crush the last remnant of resistance from this man. Perhaps it was born of ire at her rebuffed charms, or perhaps it was the result of the parasite clawing away the last dregs of sanity in her cranium. One thing that was beyond doubt was that her attention was deadly.

With a clinical coldness, her head tilted slightly at the self-animating halberd as it pulled itself from its resting place. How interesting. Even unbalanced and blinded by pain, Jinsoku was still dedicated to getting in his revenge. It would be a slight reprieve from her intended pinchusioning of the man, certainly, but maybe not worth relinquishing the weapon to her. Surging out from her, the pair of sympathetic lashes on her left deviated from their intent, entangling the flipping polearm, their floral sinews wrestling with it to subdue it into her control.

A witty one-liner might have ensued here if she had the desire. Instead, she only smelled blood on the air. Her other two lashes descended on the prone man as planned, as desired - only to be battered backward in an expanding shockwave that even the Hunter had not expected. But for once, surprise did not have to mean being at the mercy of the result. Her head snapped about, evaluating the rapid change of positioning in a blur of motion, even as her limbs were battered and bruised, caught up in the rolling expulsion.

Flung skyward, her top right lash spooled out, recoiling away as Kae was blasted backward. Her shorter lash, having targeted an area much closer to have proper leverage, missed the armored thigh it had been trying to puncture into, and instead whipped low, dragging the ground, catching in a curling reflex around the martial artist's only good ankle as it hurtled past, dragging him after her. Once again, the trees would prove crucial to her recovery.

Top right lash scraped the limb above, anchoring itself into the bark with a loud crunch and splintering of wood. Pulled out to its full length, its resistance went towards redirecting Kae's velocity from a lofting throw backwards into a centripetal curve out and around the axis of the bending oak... and transferring that same motion into whipping its origin skyward. Like the slack net at the end of a trebuchet arm, Kae had the man by his ankle, releasing him at the apex of her forced motion when all the vines had gone taut into supporting them, sending him flying bodily to crash up through the canopy, out and over their little corner of struggle.

It'd be one hell of a view.

By any other name would smell as sweet!

Post Damage Summary/Reasoning

Kae's reaction speed and strength remains boosted by Antithesis. She sustains probably more bruising and such on places like her chest and thighs where the armor has compression points but little gel to help redistribute force, but the unbalancing part isn't nearly as bad, since she goes airborned anyway. Before the lash reels them in slightly, the arc of the launch is low, hence the analogy to a trebuchet arm loosing. Since the stress is all on an external limb tied to her torso, the torque from the gambit shouldn't cause her any serious harm besides some blood rushing out of her head.

The Dark Forest

There had been whispers. Rumors. Tales told in the shadowy corners in the inns of N’Granek of things seen deep in the ruins beneath the mountains. Ancient wizards built vast cyclopian cities in great airless vaults in the darkest depths below. These titanic caves were not natural. These old sorcerers were older than men, older than the elves. No one quite remembered what or who they were but It was said that they created a race of entities, or perhaps from the unknowable and immaterial far plane. This race, gained awareness and turned against their masters. It is said that these creatures, these Shoggoths still swelled within the deepest, darkest corners of the earth.

She had seen one once while mining for khyber in the lower depths, well not exactly “saw” as much as she heard. One of the men screamed and then there was this sound like a train and everyone scattered. A loud booming voice called “k’teleli! K’teleli!” And the ground tumbled as if there was an earthquake. With every passing moment it got closer and closer to the fleeing crew until finally Sapphira turned to face, knowing she was the only thing that could slow the advance so that everyone could make it out alive. She remembered the feeling of her hair standing on end, the hot hollow current that shoots up your back when your heart stands still with fear! Sapphira called up the biggest wall she’d ever conjured and called out:

And she shouted it then when her opponent discarded any pretense of this being a brawl between people. Thus far, Sapphira had been trying to kill her opponent or maim her, just knock her out for the count with old school fisticuff. but in that singular moment of horror the context of this encounter completely changed. This was a clash of titans on Monster Island, this was a contest of fang and claw, and of predator and prey. The Order of the Force Majere fought monsters and so to pursue that end they recruited a monster that could contend with them.

White light continued to pour from her eyes. Namine tugged on her left arm with both a inky black spiky tentacle and her left arm which, at this point was also a tentacle. In fact her opponents whole body was an amorphous ooze of lashing tentacles and rolling bloodshot eyes and mouths that babbled with an incomprehensible language. She would let the beast have the left arm then. Namine would feel something suddenly come loose as she pulled with her left tentacle and transfigured left “arm”. In her grasp she would be left with a spiked stone sheath of sorts made of large heavy rough stone plates that was already lodged into the back left tentacle.

Pulling her arm free of Namines grasp would bring her left arm in a swipe from right to left, closing off her underarm as a target. However this didn’t seem to be the point of the movement, even as the left elbow tentacle flashed up in front of her chest and bounced off the rounded stone surface of her forearm harmlessly and out to her left. The point would be obvious when a thick ’Slshhhd!’ echoed through the dark forest. In Sapphiras left hand was a stone tomahawk pulled from the spiked stone sleeve left in the Shoggoth’s grasp. When Natalie’s filthy mouthed tentacle went from her left thigh, it would slam into a stone plate finding the wound difficult to assault through the rock. Before it was able to burrow through and attack the wound, the stone blade would chop the oily tentacles head off.

The left arm completed its rotation and at the last moment she took hold of the very earth at her feet. She pulled upon a choice section, her mind hardening the construct into a curved stone wall. It popped up, 7 ft tall and 9 ft wide just in time to stop the right blade tentacle flying at her left abdomen from the back. The wall would prove doubly useful. Sapphira leaned to the left causing the spooky mitten to slam into the wall at her back and become lodged in the structure.

The right hook was stuffed by the opponents step to her right, which left the arm near the opponents left shoulder. With a snap of Sapphiras right hand, a giant fist about 2 feet wide erupted out of the surface of the wall just to Sapphiras right, traveling underneath her right arm. The giant stone fist would threaten to slam into the shoggoths side and would extend 10 ft past that point, throwing Natalis some distance away from Sapphira.

With so much psychic energy expended so quickly, the stone plating that covered Sapphiras body would quickly begin to dissolve, filling the air with the aroma of freshly fallen rain. The color of her skin was still that of stone but now the athletic physique of the woman she was beneath was left to bare. She was breathing hard and had clearly exerted herself greatly to try and build space with the opponent.

She stood with her stone axe in her left hand and she eyed Namine with a hateful gaze.

Sapphira versus Namine

Orcish weapons.

They were rather brutish, crude, but effective still. James hoisted up a mace he found, a one-handed thing that used to belong to some pasty looking scrub of an orc.

He dropped it. Not his style. Proceeding onward through the forest, James came across the sight of his teammate Sapphira engaged with some monstrosity of a tentacle beast. The sight was a bit strange to him, after all, the Daemonslayer had figured that Rou to have been the one engaged with such a creature. No matter, Sapphira seemed to need his help.

Activating his FIGHTER for a striker, James sprinted in straight at Namine from her side, gathering his ki in his right hand. Closing in to a distance of roughly three feet, he cast it at Namine, a variant of his signature technique the Serpent Wave, the Silent Wave. There was only the rush of air, and a heated breeze as an invisible wall of force was cast from his hand, to strike Namine like a truck and hurl her into a nearby thicket of trees.

While his halberd failed miserably as a method of attack, it certainly left the spry hunter unaware of his follow-up, or at least prevented her from outright preparing for it. While she clearly wasn't a fighter or a competitor, her skills were just as clear. Being a Slayer, it wasn't hard to pick up on similar types to himself. Where she fell short was her reliance on her abilities and not her self. One could argue their abilities were a part of themselves, or perhaps she wasn't human to begin with. Regardless, Jinsoku was certain she'd be three times the threat if she was more physically attuned than she let on. Hell, maybe she was. At this rate, he might not have the pleasure of finding out.

The EMP exhumed him, flushing outwards in every possible direction, even below him. As Kae was forced away from him, so was the trees roots and the portions nearest him. The explosion wasn't enough to outright down it, but the tree would bare the scars he placed upon it for years to come. The ground beneath him cracked and split as it shook and became compacted, all in nearly the same instant! That vine threatening to grasp the ankle, thanks to the disturbed environment and user during wound up gripping about the arch of the armored foot. He may have went along with the vine in any initial direction before haphazardly snatching loose prematurely and tumbling across the ground as a result. A happening neither of them had rightly planned on.

Unlike earlier, now his breathing was truly labored. He was not even near his capacity, but he was no longer swimming in the peak of his stamina. Though the adrenaline was still pumping through him, and he had the momentary reprieve of the numbing sensations his ability slowly dosed upon him. the ache of his traumas was beginning to set it. Not like he hadn't faced worse. Sooner than most men could even hope to after his mishap tumble, Jinsoku pushed himself up to his right knee before bringing his armored foot beneath him once more. Resting his scuffed, scratch, and slightly dented gauntlet upon his armored knee, Jinsoku's charcoal eyes found Kae once more and merely watched as he once again took advantage of the moment to recover.

He doubted she was put down by that impact considering her ability to continue seemingly unaffected by his Crashing Thunder. Regardless of how it appeared to affect her physical form.

Kae vs Jinsoku

There would be no respite given to the winded warrior; No moment to breath, and observe. Jinsoku had been set up, and something predatory had slithered into position at his back. Scales as green as the vegetation that surrounded his bulk, and a natural instinct for knowing when prey was at its best.

Grakav emerged like a jade bolt; shot forth from the unseen, and bringing his fullblade...the brutal Vis’st’oks...up from the ground in a diagonal swipe from left-to-right. Despite his leap to action, the attack had required a careful distribution of weight; Grakav’s sword was exceptionally heavy, and if it landed as desired the damage would be massive...even to his armored flank. The Reptile's objective was simple: sweep the wounded fighter’s left foot out from under him, and possibly cleave through one, if not both, legs. At best for Jinsoku, the blade would catch his ankle in the “hook” at its end and flip him onto his back.

At worst...

With a groan, Rou pulled herself up to a stand, her left hand clutched to her ribs to soothe the pain as it ached, sore and throbbing. Across from her, the lightweight had been pushed a few meters, seemingly in as rough condition as Rou. She hadn't wanted to trade so tit-for-tat, but she was only glad it hadn't gone worse.

Straining her eyes, she squinted over at Ferris, who was getting to know the ground. "Hey," she called, raising one condescending eyebrow, **"You dead?"** The more time that passed, the easier it was to breathe, the easier it was to adjust to the pain-- not only for Rou, but she wagered for Ferris, as well. She would wait, burning the clock for as long as he did, waiting for signs that he stirred. Scoffing, Rou put her hands on her hips, trying to play off the damage; there would be plenty of time to baby her injuries later.

"No?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, when it was evident that he was breathing. Her eyes narrowed, a dark twinge to her painted red lips as they curled in a wry smile, waiting. She bent her knees, digging the balls of her feet into the dirt, ready for another bout. "Let's go, then."

Dragging the man through the sticks and brambles with his right foot flopping around useless would have to suffice for punishment. Kae had the consequences of her own acrobatics to contend with. If the singular limb had been the only branch this tree had, she might have recovered elegantly as she whipped around it, landing back near the ground to hop down as her momentum petered out, with a nice little boost to cover distance. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Arcing upwards into the higher reaches of the oak as it listed dangerously from the radial explosion below tangled her at the apex of the rotation, like a parachute snagging on its own hooks.

She had to release her grip, else she'd be whiplashed so hard her brain might slosh out her ears. The halberd, the extra lashes, none of it mattered. She let them hurtle off into the blue yonder.

Her singular good lash remained. She detached this too, relinquishing its use... and deployed her secondary chute.

The properties of the Antithesis Rose were incredibly variable, capable of manifesting nearly any plant structure one could possibly think of. Kae thought of the steamy depths of a foreign jungle, and the parasite responded to her instantly, interpreting it into broad sheafs of waxy leaf membrane. Stretching out between the spaces of her arms and legs like a bonafide wingsuit, the symbiote's return descent changed from a crashing plummet to more of an insane cliffdive. Her limbs snapped out, catching the air with leafy 'wings', before tucking her left in completely to execute a blistering turn through the gap in surrounding trees. Rolling her body thusly, then to the right before leveling out, her U-turn sent her sweeping in right as her green-tinted vision saw the flash of a massive sword.

She grinned. Grakav was invisible to her, but she knew that sword.

Her return would follow swiftly in the serpentman's wake, delivering a metaphorical one-two punch, riding out the last of Jinsoku's oh-so-kind imparted momentum. There was no overt attack - just the shapely bulk of the armor-clad symbiote crashing into the middle of the man's back, to bowl him over the severed remains of his legs face-first into the dirt with her lying on top of him.

By any other name would smell as sweet!

Post Damage Summary/Reasoning

Having not had to use the bulk of the imparted energy to Team Rocket Jinsoku, Kae instead uses it for a slick Batman sequence to follow up Grakav's striker. She loses the bulk of her vine lashes in the process.

Ferris blinked slightly and continued to just lay there. Rou stood there. Ferris blinked again and continued to lay there. Things weren't really going any where fast. He didn't feel the pain as much, it had either dulled or the rush of adrenaline had reduced the pain a little. He felt bold though, and placed one hand behind his head and crossed his legs slightly as he laid upon the ground. "No, I think I'm good actually. I'll just lay here and regain my strength while you stand there and, I don't know, think about fire or something."

Ferris wasn't just idly sitting though. No, he was thinking of something to do. Anything. He was still sore, even dulled he could tell that. Getting in close in this state wasn't great, though his opponent also looked in a poor state. She had taken a solid hit. He wasn't sure how damaged she was though. "So your just going to stand there?" he taunted. "Because from what I remember from a bit ago you were the one who wanted all of this," he said waving a hand at his reclined body, in an almost draw me like one of your french girl poses. He just needed her to get closer. He had a plan.
