“I don’t know if I should, the Boss says I’m too nice for my own good and that it’s really ruining the team’s image.” Cherry looked and sounded conflicted, “If you promise not to tell anyone though...”

In the three years since Cherry came to Gaia, she’d learned that people were pretty frightening. She’d fought monsters and aliens, incomprehensible things that came from places beyond the scope of the mortal mind, with motivations that were just as ephemeral. These she was fine with. But in three years’ time she’d learned that Omi Barsait was a piece of s**t, that Dzan Streea was a cold blood killer, and that Clash Kiddick was an alright guy once you stopped to talk to him. She’d met enough people to learn that humans could be good or bad, sometimes they were both, and it was difficult to put your finger on how or why that was ever the case without living their lives.

What was Sapphira Ecstuffuan?

She’d climbed out of the bumper car once she’d spotted Sapphira and waited patiently for her to see off her friends. What a weird looking group of kids. Would they stay and gawk on the sidebar? She didn’t like it when audiences crowded around her fights, made her feel nervous, reminded her of having to protect civilians who didn’t know well enough to flee when the frying pan got hot. Plus, if she looked stupid everyone would see. They would see anyways since this event was televised but at least she could wait until later to deal with their jeers. She looked her opponent from head to toe, shorter than she was but cut from a similar cloth, yet where Cherry just seemed loosely like a pun Sapphira talked like she lived the life. She walked the walk, she talked the talk, and though she didn’t have visible weapon on her that arm could probably pull its own weight.

“I swear I’ve heard that name before,” And for her trouble Sapphira earned a head of cotton candy in her hand. Cherry Solo’s half eaten sticky treat all over her digits and widgets. Stuck to her like mold while Cherry’s newly freed right hand snapped a jab at the girl’s nose from the safe distance that was her reach advantage. It wasn’t much of an attack. Just enough to knock her head back and make her nose string, not that getting clocked by someone like Cherry was ever pleasant. “Then again, you did call me a b***h in front of all your friends.”

People were amazing and people also sucked; Cherry Solo was slowly becoming people.

Canaan lowered his right arm back into guard and rotated his hips, throwing a slicing horizontal left elbow into the side of Jin's head as he springboarded back. Since Jin had opted to use a very exaggerated punch in an extremely tight situation (both men basically in each others faces), the natural movement of Canaan's follow-though let him slip the big bruisers huge punch by inches - the knuckles grazing his forehead.

Canaan wasn't putting all of his force into the strike like Jin was, because he couldn't kill anyone in this tournament. But he was sure to feel his bell ring on impact, assuming he hadn't planned all along to fall into a set-up.

Past his prime? Yeah, right.

Jinsoku's jaw clenched as he could feel the split of his right cheek, and the immediate bruising and swelling associated with it. Though he noticed he didn't quite feel the heat of it right. Did he have a fever? No, the temperature outside of his body was rising. Perhaps Canaan had something to do with it? Regardless, Canaan had just struck him in the face, the blow sparking a brilliant white flash in his vision. And in that moment he relied on his ESP while committing his feet to the ground once more. He lead with a shoulder check, recoiling from the elbow he had endured. Immediately he followed up with a body shot aimed for Canaan's right kidney, his own right arm drawing back into a guard until he saw an opportunity to dedicate it's use to.

Canaan, ever the aggressor, resisted the shoulder check but still ended up an arms distance away. Both his arms came back into guard, but not before Jin's knuckles sank a body-shot with a hollow thunk. Thanks to his physical conditioning, hitting Canaan would be like punching a tree-trunk, but boy did it still hurt like a sonuvabitch.

Probably be pissin' blood after that one

Not one to be outdone, Canaan threw a hard right jab with his previously chambered right arm, taking a small step forward on his lead foot. He didn't want to give Jinsoku any room to breath. He wanted Jin to be smellin' his stanky cheestake breath for the entire fight.

Tanking the body shot, Canaan chose wise on executing a repeat right. Jinsoku knew he couldn't evade the punch, and so the best thing to do was to move into it. Though the solid connection would give Canaan the sensation that Jinsoku's endurance was something beyond the average human's, he seemed to be moving too much from the connection. Placing his weight on his right leg, his left suddenly lifted and snapped a kick for Canaan's right side; Again he targeted the kidney. By the looks of his legs, it wouldn't be hard to guess how much harder Jin could kick compared to punching. A consolation of years of walking, jogging, and running almost every place he went.

Regardless of the outcome, should Canaan remain positioned so readily before him, his kick recovery would lead into a stomp aimed at Canaan's right foot. The stomp was likely enough to crack or split concrete, which way more than enough to neutralize the arch...For most people. For Canaan he hoped it was enough. Thanks to the wraps and the hard calloused soles of his feet, Jinsoku had no worries of cutting his feet on the broken glass around them. If anything he crushed it even finer into sand. Thanks to the heat he couldn't yet feel the hot blood dripping from the edge of his brow, though he was spared immediate distraction by it so narrowly avoiding dripping into his eye.

Stabbing World Splitter into the shifting raff beneath his feet, the Outsider plucked at the thick cuffs of his greatcoat and rolled his shoulders, sliding the heavy garment down the length of his arms before casting it off entire. In britches, boots, waistcoat and shirt alone, he stood before the sheathed blade like a knight of yore and rested his hands on the curved pommel of the smokey-gray sword, and look at his opponent, the ostentatious Buxom Bandit. If there was any of the old camaraderie left between the two temperate foes, none of it showed in the dour, unhappy look writ clear on the devil’s face.

As the raft slunk along in its stately pace through the dimly lit tunnels of the amusement park ride, Roen let his eyes and attention drift away, noting his surroundings with lessening degrees of enthusiasm. Between the unenthusiastic performances of Glacier and the uninspired venue in which they had been fought in, his anticipation for the Heaven or Hell Tournament had been sored, and borderline extinct by the time the third round started. Still, he was nothing if not determined to see things through, and in spite of his surroundings, there was at least one familiar and expected thing to contend with: Rou Ji.

Flicking his attention back her woman, Roen frowned more severely.

“I assume this stage is your idea of a practical joke, girl?”

Canaan pushed up on the balls of his feet, bringing his left knee up to his chest, and snap kicked forward at Jin's lower abdomen like he was kicking down a door. Sure the range was sorta janky in the exchange, but quick counters were Canaan's bread-n'-butter. Jin could get his shin up to Canaan's side, but Canaan's push kick would send him off balance before any real damage could be done.

That's when he'd deliver the riposte. As soon as Jin was off balance on one-foot, Canaan's foot would go down and his right fist would come forward - but not within range to physically connect. No, see, that was the point of the ball of force that'd instantly ripple out from his knuckles, parting the air like a sonic boom. On course for Jin's lower jaw and collarbone, it would be like taking one of Canaan's haymakers head on.

Canaan had learned over time that most people don't see this s**t coming (being a projectile from a punch), and it worked especially well when they were off-balance with very little distance between them. Canaan had felled HUGE GAIZ with this technique, broken bones like twigs, and turned internal organs into paste. This, was, of course, the non-lethal variant.

Didn't want Jin to have any lasting damage, just a bad hangover.

The return kick produced by the opponent did well to serve it's intended purpose. When the blow connected, Jinsoku responded with a guttural yell in the form of iai! Hardening his abdominal region with a flex and a forced exhale approximately at the moment of impact. This saved him the risk of winding, though it did little to prevent bruising in the region as well as impart its force. Thus, Jinsoku was temporarily disturbed of his balance as Canaan had wished for. The follow up being one of which Jinsoku could easily telegraph unlike most. Between his own intimacy with electricity, and the applications of use there in for himself, it would be nigh impossible to sneak him with a sonic attack of any variety. Likewise, his endurance to the nature of sonic booms was higher than most thanks to his own repetitive exposure to it. However, reacting to it with enough time to make the difference was another story. Jinsoku could avoid or endure this follow up, but not without applying his own abilities.

Raising his left arm just a bit more, he used it to block the concussive burst aimed from his jaw/collarbone. The bursting of blood vessels caused immeidate bruising on the surface, in which the nature of deep tissue bruising would be more evident in a short while. A pair of hairline fractures accented the left ulna, and Jinsoku was pushed even more off balance. Slamming his right foot down in defiance despite the removed target, Jinsoku cracked the ground with its impact as he leaned forward yet still slid back a few feet. Simultaneously, the Raiju's Yoki swelled from his core, spreading into Jin's right arm. With one jutting motion, Jin's fist extended with his index and middle fingers ejected from the rest of his close fist. Without warning, much like Canaan's sonic boom, a bolt shot from his fingers, aimed at Canaan's largest target, the torso. Upon contact, the bolt threatened Canaan with a something like a first degree burn. Without a fatal dosing of amps, the volts induced aimed to create an opening in his defenses via paralysis, however temporary. Perhaps the moisture resulting from the resulting rise in the area's temperature would aid him even in the slightest degree.

Despite his wishes to impress Master James this round, Jinsoku still firmly believed the Raiju was essentially a part of him. While he wouldn't rely on it as much as he had in rounds prior, to ignore its potential completely was foolish. Still, he would continue to limit the use of his extended abilities as best he could without sacrificing his overall technique.

For a slight moment, Canaan felt the depth of Jin's power, and was impressed. Why was he holding himself back so tremendously? This fight would be way more interesting if he really cut loose, after all power is a muscle and without exercise it'll atrophy.

That said, Canaan wasn't one to give a man any room to work. After Jin slid backwards from the shockwave, Canaan rushed forward into magic he knew was coming. Since the tournament didn't allow for lethal force, he tanked the lightning bolt to the abdomen in a flash of light and spiraling arcs - heat would leave a red swelling but the pain would only settle in once the adrenaline wore off. That put him within breathing room of Jin, who he hoped to catch off guard. Now normally he'd launch into a flying knee, but as the audience might recall, Jin had started the fight with a flashy punch. Canaan decided to get showy, too.

He'd leap forward off his back leg (left) like he was going to knee, and plant his front leg (right) on Jin's thigh/hip (made all the easier because of his widened stance from stomping). The instant he landed (if he landed) he'd launch a diagonal left knee strike to Jin's face. He made sure to keep his arms in guard, in case Jin tried to counter him throughout the entire technique. If Canaan managed to land this strike, it'd send a wave of hype through the crowd.

**"!?"

C**anaan's choice to tank the electricity seemed foolish to him, and yet it seemed aside from the mild burn left in the wake of it's connection, Canaan was otherwise unaffected. Jinsoku was impressed to say the least. It wasn't hard to tell that even with his own incredible reflexes, he wouldn't be agile enough to block the strike naturally. Thus he forced more Yoki through out his body, the energy laced into his entire musculature. By the time Canaan's knee struck, he would probably feel the brawny arm enduring the strike before he saw it. By the time he saw it, Jinsoku's other arm joined the block tlimb as they both grabbed at Canaan's belt line to the front of the pelvis, and the right flank of the hip respectively. Torquing with the momentum of the knee strike, Jinsoku would aim to yank Canaan into a violent slam into the ground.

Blocking a knee strike with a single, almost fully extended arm was extremely impressive. And likely cost Jin a considerable amount of energy, since he'd had to have stopped all the momentum, weight and nearly superhuman strength of Canaan's body from impacting him in a split second.

A feat to be sure.

Canaan began his natural descent immediately, hopping back from his striking position - or he would have if Jin hadn't grabbed him by his pants-line. Mid-fall, Canaan was literally hung up by the seat of his pants, legs outstretched with Jin's face nearly pressed to his sternum.

Was this guy trying to take off his pants mid-jump? *What the ********]

Thankfully, given the awkward position and lack of a fulcrum, Jin couldn't do more than yank Canaan to his feet. Hard. At the same moment, though, Canaan would launch a barrage of hard punches into Jin's unprotected face. Kind of like being pelted by machine gun fire. In the face.

S**trength alone wouldn't be enough against this skilled veteran of an opponent. Though Jinsoku was no longer a novice in his studies, he was still leagues from considering himself a Master. Regardless, he found his face nearly pressed to Canaan's torso. Though he anticipated the barrage of punches to follow, Jinsoku refused to relinquish proximity to his opponent. Pulling him even closer, a bend came to his knees as he pressed into him, his arms moving around him and hugging him firmly. As this happened, he took three, maybe four punches to the face. He ate them willingly, a reasonable sacrifice to attempt using his opponent's aggressive style against him.

More of that illustrious Yoki swelled within him before being forced through his body and into Canaan's in a Surge as he extended his legs once more, flexing his body in unison as Canaan's for temporarily escape the forces of gravity. Like a pitbull latched onto a b***h on a hot summer day, he wasn't letting go, even if his electricity continued to prove fruitless against this opponent. So long as Canaan failed to knock him out, he was faced with having his whole world flip turned up-side down before experiencing his face came crashing into the ground back by the weight of his own body, and the immense amount of force his brawny muscles could muster.

Crappling. It's always gotta be crappling.

"Bad. ****. Idea."

Canaan's words were punctuated with his knuckles slamming into Jin's temples. Three solid hits landed flush, certainly drawing blood from sharp impacts. Despite this, Jin squeezed his tight - Canaan could almost hear the strain of his rib cage - and then lit him up like a christmas tree with an electrical pulse!

Brilliant light reflected in the mirrors and created a sudden, bright, dazzling display that awed the crowd. Unfortunately, Canaan was too distracted by the searing pain of electrical burns to enjoy the view.

Though his muscles tensed painfully, he managed to wrap his legs around Jin's torso just as the man was starting his belly-to-belly suplex. This "locked" him to Jin and prevented him from being able to arch back and whip Canaan over. Instead, if Jin kept on course, all of Canaan's weight would imbalance Jin's body and drive his head into the ground, while Canaan used his free forearm to prevent his chin from hitting the floor.

Worse still, Canaan would end up sitting in a full mount. None of this would require anything other than gravity, really, either. So Canaan would get to pleasantly pound on Jin's face at his leisure, despite his shocking pain.

14stillnohero

**[8]

H**ad this have been a traditional match of western style boxing, Canaan would've won this bout before Jin had a chance to even lift him. A brilliant flash of white burned across his vision before everything went black. TKO. Thankfully this was not the case, and Jinsoku could proceed to express his persistence. Unfortunately, such an opportunity didn't last for very long. If for no other reason than his imbalance created by Canaan's wrapping legs, Jinsoku indeed took the fall in which his head bounced on the hot ground. By now he felt like he was beginning to acquire a nasty sunburn, though he still had no idea what the cause of this immense heat was.

With Canaan at full mount, Jinsoku's narrowed, once again charcoal eyes stare right through him, his vision as dark as his eyes. His arms retreated to protect his neck, and head, as best he could. Without seeing his opponent, he pushed his focus towards his sixth sense. Naturally he attempted to sneak jabs between his opponent's strikes, though his opponent likely outweighed his blows 2:1. He could feel his eye swelling shut, his hearing was lost in one ear. He was numb to the pain as a grimace found his split lips, the dying blood from his nose cracking upon his face as his eyes illuminated once more. In a guttural yell. Jinsoku defied Canaan's will. If electrotheropy wouldn't work, perhaps force would.

Blooming from his core, his Yoki burst outward in all directions. From beneath the mounted Canaan, a concussive force exploded into his parted legs and groin first before traveling up the rest of him and likely throwing him off of Jinsoku. Unless he stopped himself, Canaan might very well find himself slamming into one of the heat lamps above as all of the heat lamps in range would burst from the electromagnetic force. Some of them permanently damaged, and others temporarily down leaving the area raining with sparks and glass, and perhaps Canaan's body in the darkened venue. Regardless, Jinsoku forced himself back up onto his feet. Though his breathing was labored and his body being put through the ringer once more, he assumed a stance that could only be seen as one of self defense. Truth be told he hoped Canaan was down for the count after that one. Despite his insane endurance, Jinsoku wasn't sure how much longer he could hang in competition with this particular veteran. Perhaps he had underestimated him just a bit.

Despite sitting in the best possible position to deal damage, his knuckles slamming over and over into Jin's face with bloody results, this kid just... stayed awake. His determination to take a beating was easily fatal by this point.

"JUST. GIVE. UP." Canaan screamed internally, his teeth clinching with each punch. Sure, he landed a few weak jabs, but nothing that could indicate he still had a fighting chance.

Canaan reared back a right fist with the intent to finally put Jin's lights out, when he sensed the sudden extreme surge of energy. "Oh tits". Both of his arms crossed and he curled down towards Jin, just as the volcanic force shot him up like a toddler tossed off a seesaw.

Intense pain streaked from his groin and into his pelvis - for an ordinary man it would have been like sitting on a grenade - but Canaan wasn't ordinary. His physical durability had seen him through way worse than this, like the constant electrocutions.

While airborne, Canaan flipped forward and stretched out his legs so as to impact the ceiling with his feet. This helped absorb the force, like he were landing from a long fall. All around him the heat lamps burst into showers of glass and sparks, which ricocheted around Canaan and cast him into darkness. Luckily, he wasn't cut.

Gravity took over a split second later, and Canaan landed with a transition from a crouch to a roll.

Emergency lights illuminated the hallway the two were fighting in, reflecting red light into the blackness around him. Lit by the light, Canaan could see Jin struggling to stand up. His wounds weren't entirely visible in the darkness - but they had to be severe. The pain had to be great, much greater than what Canaan was feeling.

And worse of all, Canaan still had the lionshare of his energy remaining. Jin was rapidly losing his. This battle of attrition was coming to a close. "You're far more impressive than I expected. But you wield your spirit energy like a hammer looking for a nail, banging against a wall. And I haven't enough shown you my power yet."

OH YEAH THAT SOUNDED SO COOL. DUDE. Maybe I could totally be an action movie actor when this whole Pro-Fighting thing dies?"

Canaan started to walk towards Jin, flexing his own magical might by powering up an intense blue aura with enough pressure to crack the mirrors he walked past. Maybe he wouldn't have to beat the piss out of Jin if he could intimidate him enough.
