~ Atteka Islands ~

Overview:

West of Lament into the ocean well out of view of land are 2 large islands known as Atteka. Home to the Atteka Syndicate infamously known further west and pushing east towards the continent of gaia they are the most well known group that come from Atteka. The people of Atteka are traders and farmers by trade and thus rely on the Syndicate for protection. Friendly with neighboring islands they prosper trading.

Description:

2 island both quite large in easy view of each other. The water between them is blue and about 30 feet deep. The islands themselves are relatively flat, worn down by erosion and storms the land is good for farming certain plants used to hot climate. The islands are lushly vegetated by tropical plants due to the climate. The coasts are mostly walled off now, stone masons made storm walls for large waves recently, the stones still have little wear on them. Each island has a port on one of the coasts. Both ports large and often busy. There is only 1 actual city on each island. Growing around the ports prospering from the trade. Though small villages lie throughout the islands themselves hidden among the thick plants.

Location:

Located due west of Lament, traveling about 2 miles off of the coast west of lament you will hit the eastern island. '

People:

The people of Atteka dont form any tribes or groups other than profession guilds (ex: Smith guild, fishers guild etc.). The only known group on the island is the ruling body

, The Atteka Syndicate, which preside on the eastern islands port city. The majority of the population on the islands live in the two port cities, each city holding about 5,000 people. And maybe another 500 people scattered in villages and towns throughout each island.

Coat of Arms:

The people of Atteka have one coat of arms, that of the Atteka Syndicate.

Climate:

The climate is Tropical wet. The air is often humid and hot.

Mythology:

And so it is said~ "Once in a land of warriors and loyal soldiers there was a man of great power and skill, but his fighting spirit was taken by an enemy, as the enemy prospered in the skill he had stolen the warrior journeyed in a place none would dare journey, trying to find allies to re-gain his skill he found 2 islands, empty he took hold on them hoping to get the attention of people he brought men and women alike and taught them ways to live, impressed by his honor and courage his enemy gave him his fighting spirit back. He journeyed as a warrior and gained freedom, and he left behind his insignia, in hopes that the islands would prosper and give him great honor. His name unknown other than his surname Atteka his people took on the name for their home, and thus the islands of Atteka were born"

Flora:

Broad green leaf trees prosper here, as well a large assortment of herbs and fruits. So many in fact that quite a few are as of yet unknown. Many healing herbs are found in the islands such as aloe, so are many cooking herbs like mint and sage. The islands food reflects the colorful flavors of the fruits and herbs found.

Fauna:

Tropical birds are the most well known animals. The lack of contact with other places has left little variety of species on the islands. Many tropical birds and ocean birds such as seagulls and gannets live well on the islands coasts. The interior of the islands are haunted by insects. The ocean surrounding the islands is flourishing with fish unknown to many places on Gaia and otherwise.

Resources:

The islands main interest is fishing. Living off fish and trading fish their economy is based on the fish they catch and find.

Other natural resources are often unfound because of the lack of digging equipment but many people sell wood from the forests as well to outsiders.

Myth/Lore:

Assorted throughout the islands it changes with the people, infact that amazing changes in lore and sayings confuses people that try to travel throughout the islands.

History:

Many years before a young man journeying after being blinded by a foe in battle found the 2 uninhabited islands. Putting many people from his ships on the islands he soon began to survive on the islands. Harvesting fruits and fishing on the ocean the people soon built up a small city on each island. Originally intended to be an outpost for the nation of Risalas contact with the mainland diminished as ships began to stop coming around the time the wars with the northern invaders started to happen in Risalas. As a result the islands grew, slowly but surely the city grew and a port was made for trade to get better. The islands found peace for many years until a group of pirates took over. Having nothing to defend themselves with, as they had salvaged many of the weapons they fell under the control of the pirates. The pirate captain attempting to make a monarch or himself made an odd replica of a ruling body soon called the syndicate. Taking on the name of the man who founded the islands the Atteka Syndicate was formed. Having 4 members at the time it son grew to 7. As life progressed on the islands little changed other than the islands prospering because of trade. As threats were shown by other continents the Syndicate Relaunched ships and began destroying threats that it was capable of beating, growing in fighting skill and becoming known among islands nearby they were soon safe of any threat, though to this day the islands are protected by generation after generation of the Syndicate, changing from leader to leader as a strong captain is found among the flagships of the syndicate.

~The Atteka Syndicate~

The Atteka syndicate is an organization of naval vessel captains.

7 captains in all the island inhabitants often refer to them as the Atteka 7.

Consisting of 2 women and 5 men the group is a gathering of some of the best naval fighters in the eastern oceans. Rivaled by a few factions they pride themselves on their power as a group, and their skill in navigating and fighting naval battles as well as person-to-person combat.

It is easy to find a personal guard of officer of the syndicate because of the emblem they were. It is always visible on some piece of armor or cape.

The syndicate settles disputes and protects their land, for that reason the Atteka island people allow the syndicate free reign and ruling power. They rule fairly making new laws as they deem necessary after they know the situation. It is said that the syndicate have spies and made-men everywhere in the islands and nations surrounding but the syndicate rarely allows others to know their secrets.

The captains of the syndicate upon obtaining the rank of captain have the choice of having thier past erased. Most of them do so, all of the current captains have had every trace of thier past taken from any public records. They sever thier ties to family in any way.

if money is owed the person must work for the debt holder until the debt is payed whether that take 2 days or 2 weeks. If the debt is too large a sum the debt will be payed from the pockets of the other captains and the captain with the debt will owe it to them.

The defining feature of any syndicate captain is a tatoo on thier back. Covering thier back, shoulderblades, and lower back is the insignea of the syndicate tatooed to thier skin.

He woke slowly, his eyes seeming reluctant to open, his body reluctant to move from sitting in the corner of the cell for a little more than 2 days.

He could hear someone. He couldn't see anything, and he felt extremely bare without his gloves boots and headband, but he could deal with it for now.

But still he heard the telltale sounds of someone watching him. Breaths and the shifting of clothing every now and then, the creak of a chair as they moved while sitting on it.

Finally she spoke

"I think I know who you are, I am not sure how it happened nor what you are, but I have a feeling I am right"

she said, the scrape of a chair being pushed back and the sharp click of her boots, fading slowly as she walked away, saying little more than a sentence.

4Tenma Keigou

Samantha:

Sam lay her head down on her arms, the headband in front of her eyes, the front that would normally be facing forward face down looking at the inscription on the inside of the metal plate

"Mamoru Atteka...It's not possible"

she said her voice muffled from her arms.

"What's not possible captain"

a man had entered her study, middle-aged and strongly build he held a short sword at his hip as if he knew how to use it.

"nothing Mattew, I just do not know who this person is and the only clue I have would be impossible"

She said her voice becoming a whisper, sliding the headband across the table so the man mattew could look at it she lay her head down

"it's not possible"

he said reading the name siletly, turning the headband to look at the insignia

"but nothing here says otherwise, and this is his name."

he said his voice a whipser now as well.

5Tenma Keigou

he sat still, he hadn't moved from his corner for another day, the boat wasn't moving.

It was moving up and down and rocking as a normal boat always does at each small or large wave, but the vessel had not moved as far as he could tell. The decks were quiet other than the occasional catch of a song drifing down to him and he could feel the metal plate against his foot, still untouched, only near him because the captain had tried to force him to eat it.

Asking him questions he had refused to answer, remaining silent while hearing her anger at not finding any questions.

He wasn't sure he cared right now, he just wanted off the damn boat.

6Tenma Keigou

A room somewhere on the eastern Island.

A window on one side of the room shows a view of the ocean and the forest near the coast, while the rest of the room is filled with a large rectangular table, a map of surrounding oceans pinned on the table and 7 people sitting around the table.

Clang!

the metallic sound rings as the syndicate captain named san tosses a headband on the table.

The young woman across from her gasps as she is the only person able to see the front of the headband.

taking it in his hands "The blacksmith" studies it and grins,

" old work, very old, hand made, the bold hand pulled and crafted. Even the name on the back is etched in it from long ago, the edges are smooth now, and the insides aren't rough and beaten as they would be if this was recent."

Smiling the man slid it across the table to 'Cloggs' who looked at it and promptly tossed it to Juliun, grunting without any sort of emotion he passed it to troy who sighed.

"If this is real and you have him locked in a cell, we might be in for some problems"

His voice calm and sure. Handing it over to arlis.

"we might well call him a king if he has everything, you said he had the tatoo on his back and chest as well sam?"

he asked more to himself then her, she nodded in reply her eyes glazed with thought.

ara laughed ironically

"If this is truly him he can fight, every legend we have about him says he was a great fighter, but your men captured him did they not?"

Sam sighed

"My men captured him because two of them ganged up on him in a narrow hallway when he did not know where he was or how he got there"

she said.

"not that I don't think my men are strong, it's that you have to admit, he was at a major disadvantage"

ara sighed unconcernedly as she looked down in deep thought.

Finally clogs spoke

"if he is truly mamoru atteka, and we have truly found the legend, then we are in deep s**t are we not? More than anything our power relies on the fact that he wanted strong captains here, if he is infact back, then he might as well be declared a god and throw us away like trash, we are little more than captains anymore if he wants power and they find who he is"

Sam looked at him scathingly

"That sounds like tretchery to me clogs, as if you were afraid of someone better than you, he stays as far as I can tell, and hopefully joins us rather than discarding us"

she said sighing gently

7Tenma Keigou

his eyes opened as he heard the heavy steps of an apparently large person, and the squeel of the rusted hinge opening quickly, gruffly someone grabbed his upper arms and lifted him to his feet painfully, knotted muscles forced to expand after such a long time.

grunting the man stood him up and put an arm under mamor's shoulder helping him walk though the man was huge it seemed, his arms corded with muscle his hands callused from work as far as mamoru could guess.

as he moved off of the ship he lost track of his movements, when they stopped a door slammed and he heard a few people's quiet breath, as if anxious for something, he was spun then and the back of his shirt lifted, trying to spin to hide what he had hidden for years he was held still by the rock solid hold of the man who had brought him here, he heard gasps, then silence again.

"Mamoru atteka I presume?"

someone said, a deep male voice, close to him so he thought it must have been the largest man.

"welcome to atteka"

mamoru jumped at the sentence.

8Tenma Keigou

Clack!

the hallow wooden sound against stone resonated in the room, it had been silent as mamoru had replaced his shirt and sat down. 'clogs' stood quickly.

"look, as far as I can tell he does not have any reason for us to believe 'im, how can we say he is mamoru when he doesn't have any real proof, he could have faked all of this"

he sighed with his hand on his forehead

"i'll fight 'im, we all know the legend, ' an undefeatable warrior' least he was til he lost to whatever enemy he lost to."

Clogs put his hand on the hilt of his blade and walked off, the sharp

click, click, click, click...

of his clogs on the stone as he made his way somewhere, someone grabbed his arm and he shook them off, standing he followed the sound of the man's footsteps.

Soon the steps dulled and he felt a breeze, walking out he felt the stone beneath give away to softer grass, felt the wind coming off of the sea.

"I'm ready when you are"

clogs said slowly looking at mamoru

9Tenma Keigou

Mamoru was at a disadvantage, his refusal to eat lately was a mistake, his cramped and weak muscles almost downright refusing to move, but he forced them to.

With some relatively quick steps he was running straight for clogs, weighted fist ready to punch. And he did so but he was off, Clogs moved sideways and grabbed his wrist, on the bracelet that seperated his spirits, clogs hand tightened and the bracelet warped, When clogs spun throwing mamoru to the ground the bracelet broke off in his had.

"Flimsy piece of jewel......"

his voice cut off as he saw mamoru.

Mamoru:

In his mind mamoru wsa being screamed at, his body was no longer his to control, the pain of spirits pushing themselves together the binding magics keepign them apart gone, they were all packed into one body, picture packing 8 oranges into a bag that only fits 2, they all mixe and you can't tell them apart anymore, well that is what is beginning.

His body writhed in pain, it would be like a violent seisure and sam was already running, to the barracs out in the front area of the headquarters, opening the door she pulled the captain of the barracks aside and told him quickly what was happening, she knew what the bracelet was, or atleast what she thought it was, which infact was correct on her part.

THe captain moved immediately, his men scattered, searching the Town for any priests or priestesses to help, it would be easy fro anyone of the profession to be found, the men were asking everyone where might someone of the profesion could be, there was no real reason for a priest but sam was a religious person and thought that if anyone could help with this someone walking in the path of a deity could.

Hopefully before the man was dead or worse her men would bring someone back.

10Lady Sierra

*A seemingly young woman strolled along one of the boardwalks at the water front. The warm sun illuminated her mane of waist length, honey-gold hair and cast a glow on her pale skin.

Her violet eyes gleamed like polished ameythists as she raised a hand to shield her almond shaped eyes.

Her long, slender, pointed ears quickly caught the sound of frantic shouting. She narowed her gaze and then without a second thought, she clutched her effects and hiked up her white robes and took off at a dead run.

She didn't know who was in trouble or even what was wrong, but she was a blessed daughter of Leiy'ei'sha and her goddess didn't shun those in need.

It would take her only a moment to reach the Officer. And looking perfectly calm and collected (not as if she had just been sprinting like her life depended on it) she stepped up to him, her staff in one hand, her full white skirts in the other.

If the robes she wore and the pendant that was enscribed with the ensignia of her deity didn't give a hint at her identity, she would help him out with a few softly spoken words.*

"Ho'there good sir, rest easy a moment and tell me what ails you that you speak spiritual aide..."

11Tenma Keigou

The young officer was wide eyed at her sudden appearance, he seemed almost in awe of her for a second before remembering her cause.

"to tell the truth i do not know, Sam sent us out for find someone with spiritual aptitude, a priest or priestess I would assume, I can take you to Captain sam quickly, I think somethign happened to one of the Syndicate"

His voice was high in timber, a young man who was almost jumpy to find her answer, he didn't know the problem but Sam had sent them out and he listened to her without question, at the moment it was his duty.

12Lady Sierra

Reiyvian just smiles and nods at the flustered young officer. If he seemed in awe of her, it was as if she didn't notice. She simply extended a calming hand to his shoulder, her touch oddly soothing.

"Alright young one... Take me to your Captain and we'll see if I can't be of some use."

13Tenma Keigou

Nodding vigerously he turned and walked relatively quickly, he was tall and his legs ate the ground at he moved quickly but he made sure to look back making sure he didn't outpace her nor make her run.

He would make a few turns until the stone walls surrouding the Syndicate building were revealed. He would enter the front gates and walk up to sam, bowing his shoulder slightly.

She nodded and looked at him questioningly

"I've found someone that might be able to help, or atleast wants to help"

he said motioning to the woman behind him.

Samantha bowed to the woman taking her in at a glance

"I am not sure what happened but I have a suspision, there is a man up there and I don't know what happened but I have seen priestesses heal men and woman before and hoped I could find someone to help him"

she said bowing her voice a little anxious

"I can lead you to him quickly if you think you might be able to help?"

14Lady Sierra

The priestess would still be smiling calmly as she returned the woman's bow. Her very pressence would have a calming effect on the entire room. Speaking warmly she nods, her violet eyes shining brightly

"I would like to do what I can for your companion m'lady, if you would show me to him? It is both my will and my duty."

15Tenma Keigou

bowing hastily sam replied

"Follow me please"

She would take her straight back through the building to the practice yard. Clogs was in a corner, Arlis yelling at him flourishing his short throwing blades.

While the young woman and blacksmith weapons away from them were holding down mamoru as his body tensed, back arching greatly as his jaw clenched, a small rivulet of blood flowing from a lip bitten clean through his eyes clouded with strain.

16Lady Sierra

*Reiyvian braced herself as soon as she entered the room, staff held in both hands and out before her in a guarded stance. She narrowed her ameythyst eyes at the man who was being pinned to the ground. There were so many warring souls within him... all fighting for dominance. They were emitting such a large ammount of spiritual energy that it felt to Reiyvian, who was highly sensitive to such things... as if she was trying to slug her way through mud.

She had some ammount of personal experience with multiple souls... but never this many in one vessle before.

She forced her way forward and kneeled besides the man's bucking body.*

"What is his name?"

she asked calmly as she stared into his clouded eyes...

17Tenma Keigou

"He is apparently Mamoru Atteka"

She said looking down at the woman and Mamoru as he was pinned not sure how she could help at all. She didn't know what would happen nor what was happening now but she hoped it would stop soon.

18Lady Sierra

The priestess lays her hands on the mans struggling body, she places them firmly on his shoulders and gazes into his seemingly sightless eyes. She speaks calmly but clearly...

"Mamoru... MAMORU!!"

She raises her voice, but it doesn't change in it's crystaline and calming quality. As she spoke the name of the soul who was supposedly in posession of the vessle at this moment... it would recognize that it was being adressed. The man would likely still convulse, but he would try and meet her eyes. Try and focus on her. That was all the opening she needed.

"Hear my voice Mamoru Atteka. Do not fight me.. NOW. Lay still in the name of the holy Goddess Leiy'ei'sha!"

*The man's body would stop twisting and fighting at the hands that tried to keep it still. The priestess had cast a binding on him. Not a binding of the souls... but merely the container. It would be painless and oddly soothing.

Without the man fighting against them, the others would now be free to stand back and she would get to work.*

"He will be fine... but what I must do is going to be a very difficult task and it will consume much of my energy. Please... no one interfere."

19Tenma Keigou

Everything went to her plan thus far.

His body stopped moving and the two people holding him backed away, Sam and the blacksmith stood at the doorway makign sure nothing interrupted her.

They were not sure how any of this happened nor why she was helping but it was a relief to not see the man writhing like he was dying.

They remained silent, listening to her words and watching her they seemed as much in awe of her as well. But the remained silent and watched on.

20Lady Sierra

*Reiyvian could sense the spiritual residue left behind from the previous seal. But with this many souls... it would be difficult to tell which soul was the rightful posessor of the body.

There seemed to be 7 souls in total... Some of them slightly weaker than others, suggesting that they spent less time in posession of the vessle.

She extended a gentle mind brush, a seeking and questioning tendril of telepathic ability aimed to scan Mamoru's thoughts and memories for answers...

what would she see in them?*

21Tenma Keigou

...

a young man stood on the ground mamoru's hand to his throat a teacher by his command forced him to let go, the boy on the ground looked up at mamoru in anger

...

again the boy and again mamoru was above him, the boy bruised and bloody

...

Mamoru sat on the ground moving back as the sword slashed down and the world went black.

...

Mamoru lay on deck, warm and wet while slowly his body lost itself, everything dimmed and died. Mamoru died.

...

Mamoru floated above a shrine, looking down on a young man, everything around him seemed surreal, as if more real than him, his body itself pulsed gently but it wasn't a body, it was his soul, pure and released from his body.

Looking down at the young man with silver hair as the tatoo was placed on his arm mamoru darted to take into the body, just as 5 other spirits did so as well.

...

it would be like watching a movie skipping around, bits and pieces that seemed prominant, the boy was the man who blinded him and killed him, an important event in his mind. It would be brightest and prominant, dulling the other memories mamoru held.

22Lady Sierra

*Reiyvian watches the flashes of memory, drawing the fragments together and gleaning facts from the snatches of thought. They all led to one person. The silver haired boy.... she managed to gain a name. Tenma.

So this was the body of Tenma. She needed to confer with this soul... She extended a second tendril of power. This one eminating warmth a reassurance, beckoning the one she sought to come forth...*

23Tenma Keigou

And so he did.

His soul would be the strongest of the 7 attached to the body, if she did infact look in his memory he would have a childhood in this body, all his little life events leading up to the day he performed the ritual that put other souls in his body with him.

24Lady Sierra

*Look into his memories the woman did... she HAD to be sure. After all... it's not like souls were play things to just be tossed around recklessly! Doing anything to a soul had severe reprecussions... one way or another.

The memory she focused on though... would be the ritual where the boy was taking souls into himself. To what purpose? She needed to know!*

25Tenma Keigou

His emotions bubbled up, excitment, apprehension, he had won the tournaments and become the elite. He had proven himself atleast here.

The priest pushed his thumb agains tenma's right arm and traced a circle first, then a prestess traced 4 interstecting lines of blue over the red circle and they both began to focus.

Tenma stood stock still as the room grew cold and suddenly his body stopped, everything stopped reacting to what he wanted and he felt 6 balls of tightly woven emotion. prodding them with his mind they each gave off seperate emotions, the preist had told him of this, these were his consils.

Nothing seemed wrong, nothing at all, but it would grow wrong a few years later.

this was all he had to do to be an elite, to keep from having corruption in his ruling body, to take these balls of emotion in?

those were his thoughts but they changed very soon.

26Lady Sierra

*Reiyvian watched with intrest, paying carefull attention to every little detail her trained mind could pick out.

So. He had gone through a ritual to prepare his body as a host for other souls. Souls that were to act as counsel. Each acting as a independantly thinking conscience.

The boy had made some climb in rank and status. His new title of an 'elite' meant he had rulership duties. These souls were to keep him free of corruption and guide him along his path.

But what happens when one of the souls becomes corrupt?

The priestess sought to find this out also.*

27Tenma Keigou

It wasn't so much one was corrupt more an intervention.

An adept is a human that gains elemental powers by hard training, an elite is one who takes hard training but most never become an adept he did, soon he had flames dancing to his song, obeying him.

and the first time it happened he was almost killed.

A young man with green hair was found in his bedchambers after tenma had been heard screaming in pain, now tenma was one of the souls in the background.

Rin had made his apperance, the adepts leaders had said that his attribute to elements had altered the magical bonds holding the spirits from taking his body and now they could in times where he was not concentrating take control of him.

he hated it now, he did not want them but the adepts gave him a bracelet that kept them from consuming him.

That bracelet if she looked lay crumpled on the ground.

28Lady Sierra

*Hmm... That much reliance on one item for something so serious... was just a plain bad idea. The adepts had been fools! He was lucky the bracelet hadn't failed him before now.

Rising gracefully to her feet, Reiyvian began to chant. She held her staff out vertically before her... and began to spin it. She made sure it was about 1 and a half feet above Tenma's body at all times. As it spun wind sprung up within the room, gusing outwards from the woman, tossing her honey-gold hair behind her in frenzied tendrils and gusting her long white robes about her lithe body. The staff would begin to pulse with a buttery-yellow light.

Suddenly it would stop spinning, and in a flash of violet eyes... it would appear as if the elf intended to drive the shaft of wood into the man's sternum with incredible force. It would in fact stop half an inch away from his chest.

A blinding flash would illuminate the room as what looked like an explosion took place and tendrils of light, light luminous serpants slithered forth from the staff and surrounded Tenma's body before plunging into his chest.

It would be painless, but this much spiritual energy would rock the mans body fairly forcefully. She could only hope that as bad as it MIGHT look... that the people behind her did not try and interrupt at so crucial a moment.*

29Tenma Keigou

It did not matter that the adepts were fools, they were probably all dead or in chains as slaves to the northern invades that had destroyed risalas nearly a year ago.

His body did infact rock, and not a single person would do much more than stare, they were in awe of her now, if not in fear.

30Lady Sierra

*Rei would be holding the staff with one hand now, her left. Her right arm would be held out straight before her, bent at the wrist. Her middle and pointer finger would be vertical as her thumb and other two fingers were closed to her plam.

The would be 10 leviathans of light total. One for each of the seven souls, and 3 for the physical vessle. 7 of the light serpants dissapeared into the man's body and bound themselves to each soul. The other three coiled about the body that was convulsing again. One wrapped around his neck and shoulders, the other around his torso... and the last around his legs.

She investigated each of the souls.

Rin. A family man from long ago in Risalas... an elite like Tenma he provided useful guidance for the young man, sharing knowledge he gained before he was killed defending his family. This Soul she bound to the vessle's mind and senses.

Saiko. This soul was violent and full of anger... nearly corrupted... this soul would be pulled from the body, ensnared by the Leviathan that would transport it into the after-life.

Ariso. A child hung for appearing as a christian angel. Killed for what was considered blasphemy. This soul she gave comfort to, as it's Leviathan led it to the peaceful rest it finally deserved.

Rai. A man who faught and died defending Risalas. He too was led to the afterlife.

Matt. He had led an invading army and died with his troops. This soul also passed on, expelled from the vessle of Tenma's body.

That left one.

Mamoru. The soul that had been in posession when she came... The one who found the Atteka island, also a defender of Risalas. This soul... although blind before he died, was also bound to Tenma's mind and senses as Rin had been.

The soul of Tenma himself, was bound to his senses, body and mind. He would be the dominant soul, and the only posessor of his body. The other two would however, be able to observe everything through him and communicate with him in his thoughts as they had originally been meant to do.

The extensive binding of a High Priestess would keep them restricted, no matter what Tenma's abilities grew to. He would now be able to draw on them, but he was his own person again.

The Leviathans that had bound his body, would absorb into his spiritual self, sealing the soulsand giving him a new burst of energy to help him recover from the lost energy he had poured into the fight for his body. The other leviathans had long since faded, escorts for the banished souls to the realms beyond.

Her hand would move in the air before her, tracing a rune of light over him. A ward of protection. No more souls would be able to enter his vessle... he was safe. And he would likely sleep for a day or two... but he would be fine now.

Her job finished and her energy spent... the staff would cease to glow and the woman would crumple to the ground, out cold.*

31Tenma Keigou

Saiko's spirit would not go that easily, or atleast would struggle against the leviathan. It would push hard and try it's hardest to get away from it back into the mortal world, to find another host, it was a strong spirit though corrupt it had infact been in more than just tenma's body and taken some of the spirit energy of each as it died. he would struggle for all it was worth.

Silence lay over the arena for a moment or 2 before someone reacted.

The blacksmith breathed, it seemed for the first time since she had started, moving he picked up the young man wearing a mask and put him over his shoulder taking him to a room.

"take her carefully to the ground floor guest room would someone?"

he said in more of an order than a question, laying the young man on a bed he extinguished the candle in the room and closed the door with a click.

The young woman was picked up gingerly by the 2 women and taken to the room, they lay her down on a four poster best, the posts gilded lightly with small snakes running up them, eventually entertwining at the top.

Her bed had silk sheets on them, it was a guest room and the treated guests well. They covered her and put out the light as well closing the door with a click.

they would all wait for one of the 2 to wake up, they didn't know what to do but life continued as it normally would short of the soldiers wondering why they had been told to find someone.

Clogs left on a patrol a day later. Sam was angry at him for having caused this and he would be gone for a few days, the other's rested, waiting.

Meanwhile, Far into gaia, amid the plains of gaia a small town held a procession, not as one might view such an occasion, it was not of happiness, nor celebration, but of punishment. A young man, ragged and dirty, his clothing torn and stiff with days of wear stood on a small podium, about 4 feet up.

Thrum!

A deep bass voice of the drum pushed itself past the murmer of the crowd as they silenced themselves save for the weeping of a woman, her head held to the chest of an older grizzled man looking on wiht tears blurring his vision.

Thrum!

As the dull monotone voice of the young man recited from a small leather bound book a the young man on the podium nodded and around his neck went a necklace, not a necklace many would enjoy. The rough texture of thickly woven hemp pushing into his throat, swallowing with fear, sweat forming rivulets down his face the drums stopped with one final deep voice.

Thrum!

The tree creaked quietly, and the podium was taken from beneath the man, as the branch bent and creaked gently, he swung in the air, kicking his last defiance to the cold grip of death, his eyes open and clear for a second before they clouded with the telltale sign of death, his final movement and there he remained as the village people dispersed. The two who had cried for him earlier now looked on silently, pushed away with comforting word by the young man holding the book. And all was silent, all for the tree creaking gently.

33Tenma Keigou

Thrum!

in a mirror echo of those earlier drums the heart within the young mans cold chest thumped against his ribcage violently.

Thrum!

His chest shook and an odd occurance began rapidly. His body grew and the branch above his body broke, with a cry of rage as once dead vocal cords resonated deaply he was enshrouded within a mist, though the shadow of a grossly misshapen creature forming was easy to see.

Thrum!

People looked out their windows as the yells and growls resonated. As the teeth grinding sound of bones popping out of place and into again but in a different shape resoanted in sharp clicks.

Thrum! Crack!

The mist fell to the ground as if it were a solid mass, Parting around him as he stood staring into the village.

The villagers were in a frenzy, they gazed upon him in a frenzied horror, this is what they saw.

Tall by anyones standards he stands at a full 7'1" His body generally appeared human, if you based such an appearance on 2 legs 2 arms a head and a torso that is. At said point all human ideals for him are gone. His legs are powerfully muscled, the muscle moving and flowing beneath his skin. Following that his arms and legs are muscled as well, normal as this may seem his body is misshapen, muscles of different, if still strong, size. His right arm for example has a visibly larger structure than his left. His legs are longer than a humans and his torso looks as if it has more ribs. Which it does. His mouth is a razor edged pit, his teeth ground and broken into harsh irregular edges. His pale lips parted in a snarl at the vilagers. His hair hangs down into his face in strands of dark long black hair, disheveled and laying on his skull in all directions. His nose is slightly crooked as if broken. But from all of this horror clear blue eyes, Like ice at the moment shone from parted strands of hair. An unnervingly human characteristic about him. His fingers are longers than usual and the glint of metal can be seen at each knuckle. Scars mar his skin, arms, visible legs, even a scar from the bodies hanging, dark and deepset around his throat.

Their eyes did not see much else.

For he was moving then, a blade in his hand from somewhere they could not see. The blade was etched and rusted, made completely of metal the handle wrapped in leather it's blade curves up making a point, rust and pockmarks scarring the blade.

Aproximatly an hour later.

He walked out of the town as the last screams faded, he wore a pair of blue jeans and a sash he found, a pair of boots and nothing else his scarred chest bare. His right hand holding his blade at an angle to the ground and as he walked the crimson liquid blending into the dusk light as it fell to the ground with each step.

34Tenma Keigou

Snap!

His eyes opened quickly. Looking around panicking he noticed his mask hanging on a peg on the wall. He also noticed his clothes on a chair a good distance across the room.

Atleast he was in his own bed this time. Feeling uncomfortable he stood shedding the sheet and walked across the room.

About half way across a young serving woman came in, noticing him up and awake before taking a glance down, the young woman, no older than him blushed furiously and turned with a squeak as He laughed, pulling his smallclothes and pants on.

Fastening the tie's at the bottom of his pants so they didn't slide over his feet he slide his feet into his sandals, donning his white shirt feeling the lack of metal against his chest where the hidden kunai pockets were.

Trying the ties that left the bottom closed and leaving the ones over his chest open he tucked the small cords into his shirt and walked over to his mask, setting it on, tightening the strap, His hair felt odd, splayed about without the tie he had in it before.

Pushing it back so it rested against the back of his neck he walked out of the room, buckling on his sword as he moved. He felt weaker, probably from being out but he didn't remember why he was asleep, he didn't remember going to bed.

He moved quickly, taking a piece of white cloth off of a side table as he passed he walked outside the gate.

His hands froze tying his hair back. He just realized one thing he had not.

He felt....in control. Normally he would be in a small internal battle to keep himself, not he felt like nothing else was with him, but he heard 2 clear voices inside him, And recognized them. but they remained silent as he noticed, they didn't fight for control. he was....Himself. Trying his hair back he walked into the city, a smile decorating his mask-hidden face.

35Tenma Keigou

Laughter. Warmth. Smoke. Alchohol.

All the common and often well liked parts of a tavern. About now, he was as happy as he had been in a good while.

He was alone in his head, the alchohol making the small voices of the two people left in his head a dull buzz as he grinned. His mask sat beside him on the table and as he diced with the men around him a young servingmaid, a pretty little girl, stood behind him playing with his tied back hair.

He grinned, commoners played at dice, many nobles hated the game but it was fun, more than cards to say the least.

Tossing a fat gold coin he had won earlier into the pot he rattled the bone dice inside the hardened boarhide cup.

Sighing with regret as cheers broke out around him, the devils eyes as he had heard it, or snake eyes more commonly, an instant loss in this. The winner pulling in the pile of cash grinned and handed him a full cup of ale. ...

Thus went a day or two of his celebrations.

Exactly what he celebrated, he did not know, but it felt joyous and right.

36Tenma Keigou

So many holes, it seemed his memories were nothing but pitfalls from about 10 years ago. When he had become elite. Simply put, he was not happy. The few bits he could remember were mostly words, locations people.

Kyonuske,Leviathan stadium, Latent, Gaia.

Perturbed he wandered, asking about, and that is how he came to leave. Leaving a thick folded envelope with parchment within with a servant for the young priestess who had saved him, or so the Syndicate said he left.

The letter would rest on the table nearest the young woman, the seal on the front prominant, A mask, like his but in white wax.

That is also how he found himself with a small pouch full of fat gold coins and on a ship heading straight for the main continent. It seemed he was going to find out what he had done for the last few years. And why those names kept popping into his mind.

37Tenma Keigou

He was astounded at the ship. It was skimming the water. The engine below was off and the sails bulged with the strongest wind he had seen this close to the island in the day or so he had been here. Even at this distance he could see the boats rocking in the bay as the boat flew away cutting through waves as if they were nothing.

And he knew why, A young man wearing the armor or every other crewmember on the deck other than the cloud emblem sewn into his collar was standing on the mast high above, while another with the same insignia about the same age was below, both thier eyes intent on the skies. He had been told he would have adepts along to help the voyage go faster. But this was much faster than he percieved possible. They said an hour, maybe, if they did not find conflicting wind currents or a storm. An hour, who knew?!

38Tenma Keigou

The soft slapping of waves against the shore slowly dimmed to a louder thumping sound. Drums, heavy deep barreled drums, beating rhythmically, more than one from the sound, breaking up the sounds of the sea. The birds in the air scattered with disdainful squawks as the large ship passed by, Every scrap of canvas full out, 3 men on the back of the ship, grey robes with a small cloud stitched in silver on the ankle length robes, holding their hands in an odd symbol, all fingers curled in except for the middle finger on the right hand, and the ring finger, and on the left hand the thumb and forefinger. Clasped together.

The rest of the crew was differently dressed, all wearing black baggy pants with a circle with 4 spears stitched in silver on the left thigh. Every last one of them was bare chested, both women and men. A large dominant tattoo covered all of their backs, the same symbol on their pants. They were all strong and swift in the rigging and on the deck, all working, with no adornment other than that tattoo and those pants. they always changed before they got to port, putting on boots, sturdy gloves and shirts. But on the high seas it was more plausible to not have a shirt or boot to get in your way in the rigging or on deck.

In the fore deck, on a small walkway stood 2 men. These 2 were opposites in just about every way possible, one was tall, and bulky, his body tanned darkly, wearing little more than a pair of baggy black pants like the rest. He held a long sword, twice the length of a reed blade(rapier) and 10 times thicker. It was a great blade, he wielded single handedly now as if it were one of the lighter reed blades the other crew members favored.

The other was odd, with short black spiky hair, his skin was just as dark, but her wore more, a tight fitting black shirt, with the symbol the rest of the crew wore stitched onto his left pectoral. He also wore the same style pants, the stitching evident in the same place. But beyond that he wore a pair of dark leather boots, with steel plates over the toes and heel, etched into both of those plates is the same symbol. He also wore a pair of black gloves with a steel backing on them as well, the symbol stitched into the palms of the gloves, and on his face, over his eyes he wore a headband, with a metal plate covering his eyes completely with the symbol etched into it fully, bigger than the rest, he was smiling, making the tracery of light scars across his eyes look odd.

With bare arms crossed the thinner man smiled.

"Mattew, it grows warmer. The breeze has no bite to it, and the drums echo as if we were no longer surrounded by ice. What can you tell me of our surroundings, for the ocean makes things harder for me. "

He said disdainfully. He rarely liked showing his weaknesses.

"I see very much, the sea stretches long and blue, it is quite beautiful, and i regret your problem. But no sight of land yet, we passed islands back awhile ago, but the adepts are keeping us moving quickly with fair winds, and the crew is complying with them well, we might hit the main continent soon, then we can find a place to stay for awhile while we restock. . ."

At that moment a Grey robed man walked up, and gruffly addressed the thinner man. He had sharp features, his eyes slim and bright, his chin prominent and a small thin nose that seemed to be a blade with which he caught attention. An intimidating man had the thin man been able to see him.

"Mamoru, We need a rest, we are in a warmer climate and the warm winds will carry us for awhile, can we not feed ourselves and sleep?"

the man said, looking expectantly at Mamoru.

"yes, You may"

He said nodding slightly and turning back to face away from the biting salt wind.

"But don't assume you will have forever, a night to rest will suffice I assume?"

He stated, it wasn't a question, merely a warning that if the men weren't ready by morning they wouldn't have to worry about anything but swimming from anything bigger than them in the water.

"Now, Mattew tell me of this place"

He said, a sharp dismissal for the other man, as he walked away his gray robe swishing him and the other 2 men rushed down below deck.
